She is very nice !
She is very very nice and will go above and beyond to help you out. She will post all her notes, announcements on ANGEL. If you follow her instructions, you will succeed...I highly recommend her...She is the best !
Best teacher I have had at Brookdale. I don't even like Bio but she is a great teacher who will really work with the students.
i highly recommend her! Very nice woman and extremely knowledgable in microbiology. Is you take down notes about how she explain each slide and study the information she tells you the tests and quizzes should be rather simple. I received an A in her class all you have to do is put effort into studying! ..duh
VERY NICE AND REALLY REALLY REALLY HELPFUL. VERY VERY SMART.... .......SHE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD.
Wonderful teacher! Very clear about how you will be tested. Fair testing! No trick questions or confusing answers. Just study what she tell you to and it's and easy class!
I LOVE HER! her tests are her notes..nothing more, nothing less! I LOVE HER! I would not have been able to do so well in microbiology without her! SWEETEST WOMAN!! she is AMAZING!! AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!
She's too adorable for words. Sweetest woman. Her tests are based on what she teaches. Just pay attention & do the practice questions when studying for tests & you'll be fine :)
Great teacher! Very nice person, clear on what you need to know for the tests, not strange or tricky questions. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
Great teacher. easy if you attend and pay attention. everything is from the powerpoints. taking her in fall for mico
She is probably the greatest Prof at the school. The classes she teaches are really hard but she make them as easy as possible. There's always extra credit and her exams are mostly multiple choice. She is always available for extra help and is really flexible. She is really smart as well and genuinely seems to enjoy the material she teaches.
This teacher is terrible. You want to fall asleep. She is bland and unclear. You have a quiz every week. I don't advise anyone to take her, seriously.
very hard professor. you have quizzes every week on about 40 slides to remember and there not multiple choice. tests are also hard. she's boring, but very nice. try taking another professor
This is the worst teacher ever. She speaks as if she's missing words and letters. She gives power points but does not want you to take notes in class and expects you to know what is said in lecture for the quizzes every single week. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I took her for Bio I, Anatomy I, and Microbiology. She is probably my favorite professor I have ever had. She tells you everything that is on the exam via power point, no need for the textbook unless you need more in depth knowledge. I got an A, B+, A- in all courses respectably and I did so with minimal studying... 2 hours per exam and it was easy
Quite possibly the worst teacher in the tri-state area. Boring beyond belief. Her monotone voice and mispronunciation of nearly every word act as a lullaby that can put even the most attentive student to sleep. She is also sarcastic and totally unhelpful. What should be an interesting subject quickly becomes uninteresting when you take this teacher
She's good to an extent. Class is easy if you study her power points. As for her, she is hard to understand, very sarcastic when asked questions & gives minimal help when asked. On an exam she put a question we were unfimiliar with & instead of giving us a curve or taking the question out, we were told to attend a presentation to earn points back.
She is the best professor one can ask for. I went for extra help in her office and she would always take time to go over materials taught in the class. She is very smart and a no nonsense person. If you work hard you should always get an A.
Professor Kundu is very nice and helpful. I highly suggest taking her class. She has everything on canvas so you have everything you need. All you do is study from her notes and READ the textbook! You will do fine :)
She is unclear, all over the place even in her own powerpoints and sometimes messes up in her own slides which is confusing and talks down to her students. She seems very sarcastic and will mention something in passing and expect you to remember it as vital information on the exam. Avoid at all cost, it's not worth the pain and losing your sanity.
She is the worst professor I ever had. She is not very helpful and her test/quiz does not go with the lecture. She is all over the place and not very organize. Read the book even thought she will tell you not to. I will never ever take her for any bio class again. Run away the aggrevation is not worth it.
She is the best teacher ever I took her for a&p1 and micro easy teacher all you need is to attend class write notes and PowerPoint not once did I look at the txtbk it's not needed even though I got a C+ in both her classes it wasn't a stressful class it was a relief test are based on just the power points and some exact questions from her quizzes.
Dr. Kundu couldn't be more straightforward. Her power points and the clarification she provides in each class are all you need to know for the test. Her test questions are very often pulled right from previously taken quizzes. Anyone complaining about her was using her as a scapegoat for their shortcomings.
Took her for Bio-111 and paid dearly for it in Bio-112 because she did not cover or go over important items that overlapped in 112. She is unrealistic in her expectations, and expects you to look at 50 plus ppt slides for a quiz. I recommend you take someone else for Biology.
Dr. Kundu is the sweetest professor at Brookdale. She truly cares about you as a person and the grade you receive. Her quizzes and exams are her powerpoints. Make flash cards and you will pass with flying colors. You do not need the book for any of her classes.
Those who didn't pass her classes, are stupid. This woman is truly inspirational and smart..A double Doctorate I believe. Yeah, like really smart. teaches the class very well, subtle accent you can totally deal with. Gives you very clear notes. Show up to class and you'll do fine. Took her about 3 times for 3 classes including micro. best there.
Awesome teacher took her for micro and bio 101. Tests are very straight forward and doesn't try to mess you up.
pros- the class is straight forward, quizzes are easy and straight from the notes (they're online) , she covers everything you need to know, cons- she can pronounce words unclearly and is boring all and all, shes a good professor and i would take her again because she does a good job of preparing you for the exams. TIP, DONT BUY THE BOOK
Wonderful professor. She made the transition easy for a back to school mom. Highly recommend and would take her again!
Excellent professor. Explains material very clearly. She tells you exactly how you will be tested on material, so pay attention during lecture and go over her powerpoints. There is a quiz every week, but it keeps you on top of studying for the tests (there are three). You don't need the textbook. Really great professor, so take her if you can.
Professor Kundu is a very smart woman. Grades are up on canvas so it's easy to track your grade. Quizzes every week and the three tests usually end up being questions from the quizzes too. Uses powerpoints and there are a lot of slides which can make it hard and long to study from.
Dr. Kundu was an exceptional Microbiology teacher. She encourages learning, not just memorizing material. She always offers help if you don't understand a concept. Her test questions come directly from material learned IN class and from slides. Weekly quizzes helped as well, because it forces you to study weekly.
Professor Kundu is amazing! She is very knowledgeable and provides help during office hours. She is a powerpoint teacher, she explains the main topics for each chapter, but reading the book is a must in order to get an A! Expect: Weekly Quizzes, 3 tests, and lots of notes to take. Show that you're smart and dedicated and she will definitely like u!
Took her Micro. She is a good professor. If you are deciding between her & Smith, take Smith because you will have an easier time getting a better grade.
Gitanjali is one of the best professors I've had at BCC! Her lectures are very clear and simple, if you don't understand something she really encourages you to speak up and she will answer your questions. Her tests are quizzes are not that difficult, but you really have to study if you want to succeed in this class. I really enjoyed her!
Kundu is nice and cares her students. she is sweet and very helpful! Read the book and work hard, you will get a good grade.
It a bit hard I am human
Dr. Kundu is a brilliant woman, she really wants her students to learn; not just memorize the material. She expects students to work hard and put in the study time required for this course. She is available to her students. She expects participation in class and intelligence. Text book used as resource only; study ppts and lecture notes will pass.
Really wants you to understand the material not just memorize it. Responds to emails, and did a great final review by giving us examples on how questions will be asked. Power points are the key! Only used the text book a few times as a reference.
she reads and basically teaches from the powerpoints. Everything that is on the "study guide" never ends up being on the quizzes. interrupts when you ask a question and barely ever answers it.
Sometimes difficult to understand. There is no extra credit and a lot of material that she wants you to remember at one time. Everything on the test is on her power point, but you need to really study every single detail. It is really hard to get an A.
Dr. Kundu Is a great teacher, one of the best I've had at BCC. She really wants her student to understand the material not just memorize It. Quizes and tests are easy if you study the review sheets. She is very fair when it comes to grading, Don't be afraid to defend a answer you got wrong and she's also quick to post grades ( within the hour)
Very tough teacher. I was well off in biology until her. Only cares for students who participate. failed by .4 couldnt bring it up. there are better teachers
If you are the type of student that can sit in class and listen to a professor read off of a powerpoint then by all means, Kundu is your professor. She will read each powerpoint verbatim. Nothing is lectured or taught and God forbid you don't understand a SLIDE. One class the PP was down and she had to borrow a phone to "make sure" she was RIGHT.
Professor Kundu is a very nice and genuine woman. But, she reads directly from the powerpoints and consistently pauses to ask if you have a question and will meet eye-contact with every single person in the class before she continues. Theres a quiz every week. The exams are easier than the quizzes. Practicals are insanely hard. You HAVE to study.
I have taken Kundu twice, 1st for Bio101 & she was great then & great now in Micro! She is really into genetics so she does focus on that more than other things, which can be difficult but do not worry! She draws pictures on the board & does powerpoints that are easy to follow along with. Also offered extra credit. I would take her again if I could
Loved her. Take her!!
Awesome Bio teacher. She is clear and really makes an effort for you to understand the material.
I didnt mind taking her. Thought she was knowledgeable. However taking a bio 101 class I felt as if she showed off a bit with some of the microbiology she has a PhD in. Other than that she was pretty fair. Gotta put the work in. 95% of the info is in the slides whereas the rest is in the clsssroom. She wants you to buy the book but not necessary
She talks very fast, and at times her drawings can be confusing, but she is in no way a bad teacher. I really thought her classes were easy and it is so simple to get good grades. Studying is a major part of Microbiology, and if you don't want to do the work, do not take this class. I had a great experience and I would recommend her to others.
BEST PROF AT BCC! I LOVE HER. SHE IS A DOUBLE MASTERS AND A PhD. SHE IS ALWAYS EAGER TO EXTEND HELP.
She is a sweet person, but could not learn from her as a teacher. I passed the class by looking at the power points on my own at home. She wants people to ask questions but when they do she goes off on a rant and berates them. Be careful with quizzes as they can be either anything from the power point to something she just talked about in class.
Her class is very simple and straightforward. She has everything in the powerpoints you need to know so even though she tells you to buy the book, it's not necessary. She comes across as a little arrogant and brags about her PhD. Didn't care to much for her personality but she knew what she was talking about. Easy A if you put in the work.
I am not sure why others had a problem with Dr. Kundu. I can only say thank you and love you lots. Unfortunately some of my other classmates chose another instructor, they are taking the class with Dr. Kundu next semester. She is str8 out what she taught tests and quizzes, study guide. If you don't take her, maybe you will the 2nd time. thebest
Dr. Kundu is the best professor I've ever had. She is BRILLIANT, patient, and has a gift for explaining complicated subjects in a simple way. The quiz and test material only come from her lectures which are based on PowerPoints. She is a fair grader and never makes you feel bad for being confused. I had her for microbio and cell & molec. bio.
She is really overwhelmed, not organized, I dont recommend her
This girl is KOOKY. She will write something on the board and 10 mins later erase it because it wasn't correct or she switched two terms. Just doesn't seem trustworthy. Is kinda derogatory when the class doesn't do well on a quiz. Don't buy the textbook. Gives "practice questions" which helps for quizzes. Doesn't count attendance and notes online
I found Dr. Kundu to be a solid teacher. Little to no homework. Weekly quizzes that are predictive of what kind of questions will appear on the exams. Extra credit opportunities given. Not really sure what more you want from a professor. I found that the people who rated her poorly put little to no effort into studying. You get what you give.
Nice person but very confusing. Many of her questions werent on the PowerPoint, and were only mentioned verbally. Some questions seemed so unrecognizable to the point where I felt I couldve had my notes out and still failed. We had online classes the second half because of COVID19 and her online lectures were so boring it was unreal.
Listen, she's not the worst professor at Brookdale. She's kinda rude and easily agitated, stares randomly, goes on her phone, and says the wrong information then corrects it like 5 mins later. Her accent is really heavy and, now that I'm a more experienced bio student, she mispronounces a LOT of important words. She is efficient and accessible.
Mispronounces scientific names/words. Weekly quizzes have nothing to do with the power points. She talks very slowly. Explains something and corrects it 5 minutes later because she explained it wrong. Quizzes are tough but the exams are beyond easy. No need to attend lectures. Power points are sufficient to get an A on the exam.
Professor Kundu is very boring at her lectures, but all you need to know is on the slides. Exams based totally only on the slides. She even told that what is not on the slides not our responsibility. It helps to pass quizzes and exams good.
Speaks slow and when a student does not understand something she speaks down to them. It was alot of information to take in for a 6 week course but it was made harder by the teachers long lectures. If possible do not take micro with this professor !!
The semester started off fine: getting good grades in her quizzes with no issues. Then out of the blue I get an announcement to the whole class saying I cheated on multiple quizzes and will receive a zero for them. I’ve never cheated in her class because I’ve never had to, and she stopped replying to my emails to resolve the issue.
Professor Kundu has a very confusing teaching style. I would not recommend taking her. Your grade is quizzes/tests only. No homework, no extra credit. Material taught and material tested on do not align. Lectures consist of 60 slides and the quiz has 10 questions. It's impossible to drill down the material she will test on. Unfocused content.
Professor Kundu's lectures are straightforward. You have to memorize the slides, and you'll be prepared for the tests and quizzes. There are never any surprises, which is nice. Lectures get boring and there's no engagement, especially if you take her online. She said she would give us extra credit fo showing our faces on Zoom, but she never did.
Worst class I have taken. Prof claims she is available to help, not the case. Powerpoint with 60+ slides and on the slides it's her voice audio, barely any words. Very thick accent and mispronounces words. Weekly 10 min 10 question quizzes. No homework, study guides, or extra credit. Worked my butt off and still only got a C... Do better Prof.
DO NOT TAKE HER. Things on "study guides" are not on quizzes. 40-70+ pg. powerpoints per week that sometimes don't even cover material in quizzes. Claims you need to "understand concepts and not to memorize" to pass, yet asks extremely specific quiz questions. Rude in emails. 3 exams are worth 56% of your grade. Barely got a C as an A/B student
Took a completely online course (no lecture). DO NOT TAKE HER. 40-70 pg ppts every week and not all of the info is on there, she says it on her voice recording (~1-2 hrs). Practice questions/study guides do not match what is on quizzes and exams. 3 exams make 56% of your grade. Says you need to know concepts only but gives very specific questions.
Kundu's lectures/"powerpoints" have LITTLE to do with the quizzes/exams and are messy. She tells you to read the book which defeats the purpose of lecture and makes it hard to focus on vital topics. I've gotten As on harder classes and ended up getting a B avg. because of the last exam even with three hours of studying and 2 A's on first two exams.
She did not use the textbook in any significant way, when she did she often referred to the wrong chapters in the later modules. Didn't give graded homework, only 3 exams and a quiz per chapter. Getting an 80-90% avg quiz was ok but the exams cover material with 3-400 potential questions and "everything is fair game." Fought too hard for a B grade
I've never felt more disrespected by a professor! Lectures are her reading over very few-worded slides.Tests are obscure and do not correlate well with notes. She said it was not her problem if we fail & she refuses to "spoonfeed us" because we "must not be taking notes." Also did not show up for class three times without notice. Honestly, RUN!!
Had to buy the book but never used it. Missed class three times without notice. Time-stamped our end-of-semester surveys. Overall very rude and difficult. If you can help it, do not take her class. Anatomy is hard enough, spare yourself the added stress. Learned all of the information from self-teaching and lab.
Dr. Kundu is brilliant. Ask questions, you'll get answers, or she'll admit not knowing. She can be intimidating but genuinely wants you to succeed. YOU earn the grade you get, so GROW UP, kids... Study the lectures and you pass! These entry level bio's aren't hard. If you can't pass then it's a YOU problem, not the professor!
Professor Kundu is one of the smartest people I have ever met. Her lectures are long and a lot of information. If you don't go to class you will be so far behind. But she gives you all the information you need to know before the test so you won't be lost when studying. She has a calming presence, I love her
She is by far the best Professor at Brookdale! She knows more than the textbook that we read. Very caring and takes genuine interest in our progress. People who don't like her is because she doesn't bend the rules for them.
If you are taking Microbiology, it has to be with Dr. Kundu. She is the BESTEST !!!
not the best experience with this professor. would show up to 30 min late sometimes, lecture would be mainly irrelevant, and would be several mistakes on quizzes and exams. on the plus side, quizzes and exams were usually straightforward
Kundu was okay. She shows up late to class frequently. She explains the material too fast and a lot of the time it wasn't clear, her powepoints can be confusing too. Even though I studied a lot, there were still some "surprise questions" on her exams that seemed to come out of thin air. Quizzes before every class.
ALWAYS LATE. That's basically it, that and the fact she will completely forget it's an exam day and relies on us to remind her, UNPROFESSIONAL! Otherwise, she's still a good teacher who knows her material, but still, COME ON!
I'd like to say that Dr Kundu is a great professor.Unfortunately, I can't. She comes late to class, her tests contain material that she doesn't go over in class, her power points are riddled with mistakes, she explains things in such extreme technical jargon that NO ONE understands what she's saying and she's a VERY slow test grader. DISASTER.
Dr. Kundu communications is extremely inconsistent. Emails often go unanswered, and she does not follow up on attempts to schedule meetings or clarify assignments. Extra credit opportunities were announced late and with little notice, which can make it difficult for students to take advantage.

Do not bother communicating your concerns to this professor. She will not answer, and if she does you will get at most 2 word replies.
