Dr. S is a sweetheart. I have never met any professor who loves teaching and wishes her students with great success. She's a full time lecturer and offers office hours EVERYDAY. That's insane! Even though the course is difficult, I seriously enjoyed taking her class.

she is such a cute and sweet teacher...lectures are kinda (or really) confusing, but she is always always willing to help at office hours on ANYTHING..there isnt a big curve and exams are difficult..u have to keep up to do well

She's SO nice. her class is tough but she'll answer any questions you may have in office hours. I studied really hard and managed to pass on the first shot (I hear lots of people repeat the course). If you want to insure your passing grade, office hours is the key

I don't know about other professors but she was so nice so helpful and so encouraging.i was really scared of this class but it wasn't as bad w/ her. just do all of the assigned problems, do the practice tests, go to office hours, show up and u'll get a very high grade and do well on exams. also look at the practice quizzes!

She's really nice and funny, but the lectures are difficult to understand. It's not an accent issue, her lectures are very scatterbrained. She is fairly strict at grading, and made the "recommended" problems mandatory due to poor quiz scores last semester. She is glad to help, but there's only so much she can do for this very difficult class.

Helpful beyond belief, but like any ochem class, her tests were difficult. Definitely possible to pass her class if you take the time to do the homework and assigned problems from the book. Study, study, study or you just won't pass

Dr. S is a great teacher. Second semester O-chem is a difficult class but she provides great homework sets and many many office hours in which you can get additional help. I wish I had taken her for first semester O-Chem and I am glad I had her for second semester. She is very patient and just a great teacher.

This is not an easy class no matter who you take it with. Dr. S can be a little confusing at times with the way she lectures so def put in a lot of studying time, i retook this class so it was easier for me, quizzes come from the hawk problems,she does give ec homework sets that help prepare for the exam, DO THEM!! the exams are almost the same

Dr. S is a nice lady. Her office hours are extremely helpful and she teaches in a very student friendly manner. She also curves her grades and gives alot of practice problems. I recommend practicing, going to office hours, and using the textbook. Organic Chemistry is difficult but I enjoyed taking it with Dr. S and managed to get an A.

Prof. gives quizzes and homework points which are very helpful. Also, doesn't make it more difficult than it actually is.

Regardless of the professor, Ochem is one of the hardest subject to learn. However, Dr. S does a great job of teaching the subject. She is a very reasonable grader and she wants you to succeed in every possible way. She post past exams to prepare you for the upcoming exams which are extremely helpful because her exams are similarly alike.

She's the best chemistry teacher I had ever had! She curves the grades, gives extra credits, and even make her quizzes/exam easier on the students! All of her lectures are VERY helpful. It's an EASY A course.

I took Dr. S for both CHEM 301A/B. Chem 301B is definitely more intensive, so be ready to dedicate hours to doing the homework and studying. Dr. S. is still very reasonable when it came to quizzes and exams. She gets a little carried away when writing the test, but she sympathizes and will allow you to drop a question or so.

first of all i took this during the summer. not an easy class to learn in 5 weeks but dr. s did an amazing job with teaching us in time and having us understand everything. I thought she was a great teacher, so helpful!! plus she makes it hard for anyone to fail with the curves she sets!

She is one of the best chem teachers I have ever had! The lectures can be hard to follow if you have not read the book in advance, but this is not an easy class so reading the book is necessary! I am usually not and A student, but with the help of Dr. S in office hours I am getting an A!! GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!!!

Dr.S is an amazing woman, Organic chemistry is hard, but if you study, do homework sets, go to office hours should be fine! She is extremely helpful, clear in what she wants.EXAMS are similar to homework sets so do them and review them nonstop. yes they are a bit long but they will help you a lot!! I ended up with an A and topics cover MCAT exam!

Very knowledgeable but explains in way that I can relate to. Good preparation for exams, but expects you to do the work. Very helpful during office hours. Lectures are organized and helps with exams a lot and I would go to all of them.

Dr. S presents the material in a straight forward manner that's easy to digest. Exams are straight from the homework. She's understanding and a fair grader (reasonable curve at the end). She wants you to succeed & will help you. If taking it in the summer, try to get her lab section as well. Gotta work really hard in 5 weeks if you want that A!

Got lots of attention from Dr. S as the class was small. She really made things simple enough to understand. Homework is a must. Take the class at Irvine Campus where you get to be in small classes of around 20 students or less.

Attendance is mandatory, mid-to-fast pace, homework for points, tests contain multiple choice, solving problems, and some diagrams. Her class is usually small so it is really easy to get help. It is more like tutoring since it is a small class. I would take her again. Helpful

The online labs were really great. I could do them from home with the help provided by the professor in a about 2-3 hours. Really recommend if you don't like to go to lab weekly.

Great professor. Worked a lot of problems in class. Exams were very similar to the homework, so it is very doable. I didn't have to put in too much effort to pass. All I wanted was a pass.

The class was fun and I learned a lot of mechanisms. I was not too thrilled about the spectroscopy.

This class should be easy if you put in the time and effort. If you don't pay attention in class, don't expect an A. You'll get an A if you show up to class and pay attention because all of her tests and homework are based on the powerpoints. The one thing I didnt like was the homework was graded on correct answers instead of completion.

Very straight forward with her exams. All the exams were very similar to the homework packets. Might seem like a lot of homework but it prepares you very well for her test. She was always willing to help before class, after class, and during office hours. She takes her time to explain lectures.

Her notes are very clear and precise on what will be on the exam. Just practice the homework and read the powerpoints.

I took the Chem 100-L online and we had to show up for 4 predetermined dates to take our in class tests. The tests were challenging but if you study her powerpoints and do her homework assignments it wasn't bad. I enjoyed the material and the labs and all around i would recommend this to anyone, opposed to the onsite class everyone else has to do.

The class was easy as long as you pay attention to lecture and spend time on her worksheets. The midterms and final were extremely similar to her worksheets. An A is achievable as long as you attend class and understand the homework. I recommend taking this class at the Irvine campus for a smaller class size.

Her test are hard. But she is a fair grader. Go to her office hours. She does help and explain everything. Her test are based off her homework. SO do the homework problems over and over again and also do the practice homework problems. Make sure you understand those problems and you will do fine on the test. Ended up with an A in the class.

The online class was a lot less time consuming, but we learned a lot. The weekly experiments were not too long. Lab lectures are essential as she explains how to do the labs during the lab lectures.

Really like how she works a lot of examples in class. HW based on lecture. Exams based on HW.

Although I hadn't taken Chem before, the lectures were clear and I was able to actually understand the stuff.

What I like about this class was that it was only once a week. The rest of the week, there is time to do the homework.. Definitely better than three times a week. Also, lectures are clear so going to class helps.

Really liked her style and manner of teaching. There are plenty of opportunities to ask questions. She takes the time to answer questions and is a caring prof. overall. Would definitely take her again for Chem 301B.

Coming in, I was mentally prepared to work hard, and for that very reason, I was able to earn an A in the course. OCHEM is doable if you are willing to to put in the work. Dr. S is not kidding when she says you should spend nearly 10-20 hours studying for this class. Her lectures are very clear, she offers extra credit, and genuinely cares.

The sweetest professor I've ever had. Her class was once a week for 3 hours so it did drag on, but she'd always bring us snacks. Her exams were incredibly straight forward. Study using her past exam, and you'll do fine. She also curves. You only use the book for a presentation on one chapter at the end of the semester. Take her OL lab as well!

Professor Sathianathan is very kind, and she genuinely cares about her students. She brings sweets for her students on occasions such as holidays. Although organic chemistry is entirely different from the general chemistry material, she teaches the material really well and makes it understandable for everyone as long as they put in the effort.

Maybe seeing that the class is online freaks you out. But if youre like me, and you do not want to wake up for a 2 hour lab lecture to wear a lab coat and glasses I highly recommend you take Mrs. Sathianathans online Lab class. I had such a wonderful experience as she is such a great person and Professor. I really enjoyed doing the virtual labs

I am so thankful I got her as my Ochem professor. She made Ochem fun and easy to understand. Her lectures are very straightforward, as well as her exams. She genuinely cares for her students and want them to be successful. She curves and give extra credit.

I've taken three Ochem classes. First two were C's and I had horrific professors. This professor is probably the best you'll get for ochem. Of course it will still be difficult but she curves heavily and offers a lot of EC. Her lectures are also easy to follow as long as you pay attention. I recommend her

She's very sweet and knows her stuff. The tests can be hard but she curves them so that is very helpful! The virtual lab is very fun and interesting. 4 on campus meetings and 9 labs to do, plus their assignments and tests. Would definitely take again if I needed another Chem class.

If you have to take any lab to graduate, take it with this professor. She is one of the nicest professors ive ever had and really cares about her students doing well. The material is extremely difficult but she does everything in her power for you to pass as long as you do the work. Class is all online labs and tests, you have to go once a month

Great professor! Honestly someone who really cares for their students and really tries to make lectures interesting. She records attendance on most days that do count as points so show up. Tests are curved and extra credit is given. Online hw makes you read in order to answer the questions but if you start at least 3 hours before deadline ur good

I love Dr. S!!! She is fantastic. She is super student-oriented and will always find ways to make sure her students excel academically. I would definitely take her for every Chem class if I could.

First time taking any type of chem class in years, and didn't know what to expect. Professor S was really understanding, and was helpful during class and office hours. She was always open to taking questions, and would go over past tests, quizzes, and worksheets. Also gave extra credit in case you ever needed a boost. Really easy class if u study!

Dr. S is the best science prof I've ever had. Her lectures are amazing, and she really cares about her students and that they understand the concepts. Her HW is just like the exam, and she gives partial credit and EC on exams. Super helpful at office hours. 10/10 recommend her if you are dreading O chem!!

Dr. Sathianathan is such a caring and thoughtful professor. COVID and online learning has definitely made it more difficult for her, but she always did her best to encourage her students to participate and ask questions. She was also incredibly understanding with giving students more opportunities to raise their grades.

Classes is require for exams. You can go to Friday sessions, it isnt required; she postes her lecture videos which explain the material thoroughly. Since it was online this semester she uses proctorial for exams. She doesnt answer emails, but she sends announcements consistently on titanium. I would take her again.

This class is asynch, but there are required Friday meetings when it's exam time. Everything is in the lecture and the worksheets/ practice exams are almost identical. I didn't have a problem in this class, but it did take a bit of time. She also curves and she's very understanding! Not a lot of people did well on the final and she curved it HARD

The lecture videos were great and self-explanatory. She puts a lot of effort into her lectures on Zoom. But lots of homework and it is required. Exams are challenging and based on Homework. Very caring. Takes time to explain.

If your hesitant, just take her. I think she was great and she has side videos to watch that are very good but dont get behind but honestly I think she made this class very very passable and I learned a lot. I would take her again if I could. Exams are hard but no impossible by any means.
