Prof. Strangi is clear (crystal) and extremely helpful.
In four words: such a good teacher
Strangi is incredibly passionate about his subject. He has a quick wit, even though his native tongue is not English. Lectures and demos alike are very engaging. He puts great effort into his teaching and tries to learn everyone's names. At the end of our last class he gave a heartfelt speech that incited an impressive ovation. TAKE THIS CLASS.
When saw class had trouble with homework, announced that poor homework would mean poor results and moved on. Does not explain well. Missed several classes.
He is a great professor, to the person that made the comment about the homework, I got about a 50% HW avg. and got an A in the class. What actually happened was that he said that people shouldn't complain about there being hard homework in an honors physics course. Tests were easy but the class wasn't. You get as much out as you put in.
Take this class. He is phenomenal...
Prof. Strangi puts great effort into his teaching and cares about his students. Lectures are clear, and his witty humor keeps the class engaged. Although the homework, tests, and mandatory "extra credit" motor project all require a lot of invested effort, you will leave with a vastly increased knowledge of and appreciation for physics.
The HW is much more harder than what you learn in class. Make sure you go to class and SI sessions so you can prepare for the HW. If you understand the HW, you won't have problems with the exams. The exams consist of only 2 problems, involving the main topics. He really cares about his students, wants to know them and wants them to get a good grade
Homework was very difficult and took a while but tests were straightforward and easy especially with notes you can take in. Big extra credit project that really helps grade. Cares about his students' success and enjoys getting to know them and watch them grow. Very funny and explains material very well. Well organized and prepares well for class.
Professor Strangi's lessons were both entertaining and engaging and the class project was quite fun to work on and present. The HW was quite difficult but good review sessions before exams and easier exams still made the class doable and the HW helped to teach a lot. The textbook is definitely at a higher level than what's on the exams.
His lectures are extremely painful to sit through and gives no example problems in class. I think he is a nice person but cannot teach a 200+ lecture body.
Strangi is an awesome teacher. Make sure you go to class and SI sessions so you can prepare for the HW. If you understand the HW, you won't have problems with the exams. The exams consist of only 2 problems, involving the main topics. He really cares about his student.
He is a great professor, caring and gives very good feedbacks. His lectures are interesting and math heavy. If you are there just to learn how to solve problems to pass the class, you are in wrong place. He is somehow inspirational with a very quick wit. Homework and tests are commensurate with the course contents.
His lectures are so fun to be in and he demonstrates it in class like a magic show. Do the homework as much as you can and understand the fundamentals, and his tests should be much more straightforward than you think. This class definitely helped me refresh my rusty calculus skills though.
Use the SI sessions. Homework is much harder than exams. Lectures can be kind of boring but the professor is a really nice guy. The labs aren't that fun and the full write-ups take a long time to complete. Overall decent class.
Class can be ehh, but amazing guy
His final and exam 3 was quite tough. I dont know if the class exams are this tough in person but online the exams were definitely at a elevated difficulty. Not a great professor as well very meh.
Strangi is such a good teacher! In this course you get out as much as you put in, it's not for losers
Dr. Strangi really makes you enjoy physics and appreciate the beauty of it, especially for the complex and abstract concepts of electromagnetism. While the labs were a bunch of busywork, the HW was good training of physics principles, and the exams were straightforward and a true test of my understanding (got a perfect score on all of them!)
Never shows any examples, gets sassy about test results, explains things poorly. Class is significantly harder than it has to be.
Sassy on the exam right after we took it. Explain the simple concepts in a weird difficult way.
Professor Strangi is very passionate about teaching. However, it is difficult to follow his lecture content, and not much practice is available to complete outside of class to prepare for exams.
He is a great professor, to the persons that made the same comment about him getting sassy on the exam, I personally think that they were unfair and inappropriate comments. I rather think that the exam was fair and that he wanted to encourage us today.
Professor Strangi's lectures are very hard to follow. Additionally, he gets sassy when students do not perform well on what he claims are "easy problems".
Absolutely absurd professor. Please like this if you agree that he just writes up RANDOM VARIABLES and doesn't explain where he got them from. It infuriates me how confusing he can be on explaining concepts. Only bots and NPC's could get an A in this class. After exam one, he said "easy peasy," expecting us to apply his inadequate techniques, lol.
Very surprised that he has any good reviews. Here's the truth: the man cannot teach. His lectures are disorganized and it is difficult to follow along without background E&M knowledge. Be prepared to learn from outside sources! Tests are terrible, and labs are also a pain. Unless you love E&M, ignore the positive reviews and avoid this course.
Proffesor Strangi seems like a great guy, but he is a horrible lecturer. His lectures make no sense whatsoever, and he is not clear about what is important and what is not. Skip his lectures and attend SI sessions or go over the topics using external sources if you want any chance of learning the subject matter
Dude on god the lectures are incomprehensible, he spouts out variables that he does NOT establish. He told us there was gonna be a certain subject on a test, which was simply a lie. Honestly just go to the SI sessions and find the best SI out of the ones available, and go there for instruction, alongside the Organic Chemistry Tutor online.
Worst Teacher I've Had at Case, not sure why his rating is so high I have not met a single person who has taken phys122 and thinks he is a good teacher. His explanations will make you question your sanity. Skip his lectures, attend SI sessions. If he tells you something will or will not be on a test DO NOT TRUST HIM. He lies:(. I'm so lost:(. Help
His lectures are poor; concepts are poorly explained, he doesn't do examples, and spends large amounts of time on intermediate steps of derivations (which are also very poorly explained). He is too concerned with being what he considers to be "funny" to actually teach a class successfully, and refuses to remedy his flawed teaching structure.
Worst professor I have ever had. Going to class is absolutely pointless because his lectures are not helpful in the slightest. You will end up being even more confused than before if you listen to him "teach"
PHYS122 is a BIG course with lots of concepts and labs and assignments. Strangi is indeed a very good professor and he is showing us how to see beyond the formulas. E&M is by far my favorite topic in science now!!!!
Strangi is hilarious and very easy going professor. I took E&M in high school but college level Physics is harder and definitely more rewarding. If you understand the homework you are half way there. I'd take it again!
Quite possibly the worst professor I have had at Case. If you're taking this course, I highly recommend learning strictly from the textbook and SI sessions, because his lectures are completely incoherent and nearly impossible to learn from. Tests are harder than the hw. Strangi made an already boring subject an absolute pain. Avoid if possible.
Strangi is a wonderful professor. He cares so much. Please reach out to him, he loves to talk and help in any way he can. The labs are despicable busywork but Strangi has nothing to do with that. The homework can be a bit plug and chug but the exams are always interesting and make you think. Take the time and Strangi's class can be enlightening!
The man cares a lot but the class is very disorganized and it's hard to understand often. He hardly ever solves examples in class so nobody knows what kinds of questions will come on the exams. But the correction in his class is EXTREMELY lenient. I expected a 15/50 in my first exam, I got 43. But you don't learn much so depends on your priorities.
His exams are nothing like the practice problems. Worst professor I had at Case so far. His lectures are also very boring so no one really wants to attend
Prof. Strangi is possibly one of the most passionate teachers, but his teaching style lacks greatly. He wants students to understand "concepts" which results in him providing almost zero example problems during lectures. His exams are nothing like the HW but are graded leniently. I went to every SI session and still had trouble learning the content
Strangi seems like a nice guy, but his lectures were boring and confusing. He threatened multiple times to not let us take the midterm if we didn't show up to class because attendance got so low (he never followed through on this threat). I feel like the only people who understood him were people who took the class in high school. Curve is lenient.
Strangi is okay for Phys122; not the best, but not the worst. He's clearly very passionate, but he didn't explain the concepts clearly, making it uncertain of what he wanted from us on the tests. He doesn't provide practice for the final and midterms. The TA grading can fluctuate a lot, from easy to harsh. Use SI sessions for hw. Exams can be hard
Strangi is great teacher. He cares for his students and he is very engaging also. We spent the entire last month to prep us for the final. Test was very fair and problems largely announced. Take this class!!
I loved this class and Strangi's teaching style. He is very passionate and teaches concepts in depth. I found very interesting the active review cycle and I enjoyed learning applications of EM in neuroscience. Assignments and tests were fair and he always came to class very prepared and with a very quick wit. I'd take this class again.
Dr Strangi taught us a new way to learn physics which is not based on memorizing formulas but understanding concepts. He cares a lot for his students. Homework and tests were fair and pushed us to think. I'd take it again!
Great professor. Caring for his student and always prepared for class. Lectures are tough but interesting and expects his students to do work outside of class in order to succeed.
Professor Strangi is amazing. He's very good at explaining things clearly for students and does multiple examples for the topics covered in class. Some of the homework was extremely hard, but there are plenty of places to get help. Difficult tests as well, but if you go to class and do the homework you'll be fine.
PHYS 122 is not an easy class, but Dr. Strangi made it nice and a great learning experience. He is a great professor and has a very quick wit. Midterms were a bit difficult but he prepared us well for the final exam. Overall he is such a great professor.
This was my first physics class in college and I loved it. It was eye opening and found that Dr. strangi was great in teaching this class. He acted as a sport coach prepares his athletes for the Olympic Games. Get ready to read a lot but he cares much of his students, so no worries you'll succeed. Overall great class and wonderful instructor.
As a premed student I found this course heavy in math cuz I did not take MATH 122 yet. However, I loved how professor Strangi put everything in context, at the end everything made a lot of sense. Tests and homework were difficult but doable.
Strangi is such a great professor! His lectures are little heavy but you get as much as you put in. He gives great feedback and the tests are similar to some problems presented in class or during the SI sessions. I learned a lot and I'd take this class again.
I really enjoy Stranngi's lectures. You can tell he is very passionate. He explains concepts very clearly and makes it mostly easy to understand. Tests are conceptual with limited calculations and grading process its fair.
Easy class as long as you keep up with the lectures and assignments. Strangi is a very passionate professor and he can explain things crytal clear. Take Physics 2 with strangi for a less stressful semester
Great professor, if you do the homework, the exams are really easy
Really easy class, but very educational
Lectures are confusing and professor spends entire time deriving 1-2 equations with no practice problems. Homework is also annoying and labs are a pain.
Engaging professor, interesting lectures. Most notable about him are his unique homework and test questions. I'm not planning on studying physics, but even I feel like I am learning a lot about physics applications through his lectures.
I do not understand what the guy is saying in class. He doesn't teach anything relevant and then asks questions that are way different. The graders don't give you any points. To top it off the guy hardly comes to lecture and has his assistant teaching most of the time whose speech is beyond my comprehension. The HWs are also hard. I'd give a 1/10
So far this has been a great class. Strangi is a great professor and for the midterm we had an exam review with problems very close to the exam. Homework are heavy but the exam is doable if you work hard and pay attention to the examples in class.
He makes it clear in the lectures what he expects so if you take note of it and follow it you will probably do well in class. Good teacher, and is willing to explain things again to make sure you understand. The homework is a pretty good representation of what will be on the exams but the exams are a little more challenging, naturally.
His lectures are clear and he explains everything we needed to know very well. Very nice, easygoing person who cares about students. Homework could be difficult but if you did the exam reviews you could ace the exams easily since they were very similar.
This is my first time I am taking an E&M class, though I find it overwhelming the instructor is a very good teacher and very caring. If you pay attention to his class and work hard during the semester you ace the exams. Homework and review problems help a lot to understand the topic you'll get on the exams. Great class!
I'd say he assumes you already know the material, but I did this before in high school (with a high grade) and I'm still lost. He often doesn't show up to lecture, instead sending his assistant who isn't any better (and has a nasty accent.) The exams are only two questions, so if you get one you didn't understand, you're boned. Steer clear.
It's tough cramming physics 122 into fourteen weeks but Strangi is very clear. He's obviously passionate about the students and I love his comments during lecture. I wouldn't take P122 with anyone else!!
Get ready to read and to work hard in this class. Strangi is caring and hilarious, always ready to help with his quick wit. The lab is a pain in the neck!
I want other students know that I started to like physics whether I like it or not! As a premed student I stepped in this class with lot of fear and uncertainty, but prof Strangi made it a nice journey so far. You can definitely get an A if you are not a crammer and follow his recommendations. Good class and great professor.
This has been a great class well organized and with clear grading criteria. Dr. Strangi is a great instructor. He is always willing to help in class and outside class. Get ready to read and work and you will ace the exams.
His lectures are so fun to be in. Do the homework as much as you can and understand the fundamentals, and his tests should be much more straightforward than you think. This class definitely helped me refresh my rusty calculus skills though.
Not the biggest fan of the guy in lecture (quite useless tbh). Sloppy lecture notes result in us students having to take extra time outside of class to catch up using outside sources. Makes an interesting subject a nightmare.
To be honest in this course the lab is a pain in the neck, otherwise the grading criteria are very clear and the lectures are very clear. He cares about his students and on the exam you won't find any surprise. Strangi reviews the material on the exam in advance, and if do not not cram things at the last moment it is doable. Exam average is 80%
I recommend going to lecture often, because he's good at explaining concepts. The labs for this class suck for the most part, but you just gotta do them. The tests suck as well, imo, but you can do well as long as study everything you've gone over ever.
Strangi knows his physics and teaches in a way that's easily understood! Lectures are heavy and will answer questions asked in class or in office hours. Three exams and weekly homework keeps you on your toes. You will work for your grade but def a good choice for E&M.
He is a great professor accessible outside class and ready to help during office hours. The problems on the exam are presented in class and are graded leniently. Get ready to read and be aware that participation matters.
Physics has always been a subject that I have struggled in. However, Strangi's lectures were very straightforward and I learned a lot. I actually found myself thoroughly enjoying the class. He cares a lot and is a really great teacher, I would definitely recommend!
Strangi has a great passion for what he's teaching, and he's a pretty nice guy. He makes his expectations/deadlines/etc known clearly. Sometimes his accent can get in the way of teaching, but most of the time it's minimal. Lectures and notes are understandable
Strangi is such a great professor! His lectures are little heavy but you get as much as you put in. He gives great feedback and the tests are similar to some problems presented in class or during the SI sessions. Labs are long and painful
Useless lectures. TAs/him are definitely spamming this page. Dude is a terrible professor no joke.
Professor Strangi knows physics. However, his lecture is very sloppy, he tends to do many different questions on the same diagram making it hard to keep on track. Guidelines on exams are not very clear either, canvas lacks information and is disorganized.
Combination of exams being 60% of your grade and EXTREMELY inconsistent/bloodthirsty grading by some TAs means your grades can really come down to luck. Pray to whatever god you believe in after every exam. SIs are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and a saving grace for many. Don't rely on lecture/HW alone to get you through this class.
He didn't teach the lectures like half the time, when he taught it was alright but very equation and derivation heavy for concepts that are just starting to be taught. I will say that some of the lectures felt a bit like a fever dream.
This course is so poorly organized. The hw is due at 4 pm on Sundays. Once got a zero on hw that I turned in less than an hour late. I asked if I could have partial credit since the syllabus never references 0 tolerance for late hw. He responded by saying my "tone was completely unacceptable." He may act like he cares but really he's just arrogant
Woo-hoo! Just got my A in this class. Can't believe its over and managed to get an A in E&M as premed student. Thank you prof Strangi for the great semester. Homework and tests were alike and certainly doable.
I kinda get the hate, but if you go to SI the class really isn't too bad. The midterms test the most basic concepts you learn, even if in lecture he goes over more difficult problems
Professor Strangi is an amazing guy but not the best professor. His lectures are very vague and if I did not take physics in hs I would probably fail this class.
I think people give this guy more hate than he deserves. Don't get me wrong; I disliked the lectures. But the entire course was well-managed. The homework was from the textbook or very similar. The exams were testing the concepts and tested your knowledge of the concept without being overly difficult. It was a good course overall.
Weeks before the final, he said he would put practice problems for us to use to study, and never put them until very shortly before the final. And they were barely even a help. He is not easy to reach I dont know what these fake good reviews are talking about, he was barely in class half the time.
Seems like he might be a nice guy, and I don't care how "organized" the class was, it was terrible. Half the time he wasnt present for lectures and the lectures were completely utterly useless. It seems like most of the people who did good in this class was not because of the professor, but because they taught themselves and/or took the class in HS
If you didn't take this class in High School or have no experience in this subject, prepare to teach yourself and put unreasonable amounts of time teaching yourself and trying to grasp the material. Lectures did not help for the exams at ALL! Inconsiderate professor definitely.
I did really good in this class, but I am not delusional so I will tell the truth. The only reason I did good was not due to his lectures, or his class organization, or his homework, none of that. I only did good because I taught myself and took this class in high school. Simply put. I would never take this guy's classes ever again.
Difficult exams and really bad professor. I hope he takes the advice of his students so he can improve.
I had a terrible experience in a class with a professor who was disorganized and unresponsive in lectures, and had extremely difficult exams. I do not recommend taking a class with this professor.
I had the unfortunate experience of taking a class with a professor who was not effective in teaching the material. Their lectures were often disorganized and hard to follow, and they were not responsive to student questions or concerns. Additionally, the exams were extremely difficult, even for those who had put in a lot of effort and study time
Despite being knowledgeable about the subject matter, the professor struggled to effectively convey the material to the class. They would often get sidetracked and go on tangents, leaving the students feeling lost and confused. Overall, I would not recommend taking a class with this professor
This professor is completely disorganized and unprepared for class. They are also unresponsive to student questions and concerns, and seem completely indifferent to the struggles and needs of their students. Overall, I would not recommend taking a course with this professor. They do not provide a positive or productive learning experience.
Very difficult to understand, lectures were unclear for those of us who had not taken E&M in high school. Would not recommend taking physics with this professor.
It's hard for a professor to make an intro-level class interesting to all 300 people who take it, but strangi did a good enough job with pacing and lectures to give the needed information. Additionally, he gives a lot of examples - pay attention to those! Exam questions are usually similar. He's great outside of class too for help and whatnot.
I am really enjoying this class. Prof. Strangi put together a wonderful program and each week we go through new research topics. Such a wonderful professor.
I had a great experience with taking PHYS 122 over the Fall. Prof. Strangi was a fantastic and approachable teacher who wants all his students to do well. Tests were graded easily. That being said, do not slack off. PHYS122 is naturally a hard class (plus the labs)and it is a big time commitment
I am glad I decided to take this class where I am learning about many research areas. It is great how everything is explained and made available to us.
PHYS 122 coursework was an all-around experience that benefited my major in EE. Labs were heavy and not well organized but Prof Strangi did a great job. He is such a great professor.
I wouldn't say this was an easy class especially because the labs were long and painful. Professor Strangi made very clear his expectations for this course and the lectures were nice and clear. I'd recommend to go to office hours regularly he provides you with hints and useful suggestions.
Take this class it is awesome! No homework or exams just lot of fun.
Such a great professor. Gives really good feedback and cares about the students actually learning the material. He will go out of his way to re-explain subjects the students are having problems with.
Not the greatest guy to teach E & M. The class is hard and Dr. Strangi is not the most helpful during office hours. Handwriting was pretty sloppy
This is my second class with professor Strangi and I find him very caring and respectful. I learned that he is a very accomplished scientist but his class are very enjoyable and full of interesting real world examples.
Great class and awesome teacher indeed! I took E&M in HS but in this course I learned the through essence of it. Not an easy class - E&M is lot of material - but for sure I'll take it again.
Prof Strangi and all lecturers of this course deliver amazing lectures and are very caring. Take this class if you want to learn first hand of the excellent research areas at CWRU.
He seemed to be a fun professor, though PHYS 166 is not a class where the main professor talks much, for most of the time is dedicated to the lectures of other professors about their respective fields. It is an easy class, and you learn much about physics and chemistry. Overall, it is a fun way to spend an hour a week.
Just gotta give a shoutout to Professor Strangi for teaching Electricity and Magnetism like an absolute boss! his lectures were mind-blowing, and he had this super cool way of explaining complex stuff that made it actually stick in my brain. 10/10 would recommend taking his class!
Trust me, you won't regret taking this class. Strangi teaching style is not what you are used in HS but his class is a total game-changer! #ProfessorStrangiRocks
This class was exactly what I was looking for to figure my research interest out. Prof Strangi lined up an impressive list of research topics presented in class every week. Take this class if you can and Strangi is amazing!
Prof Strangi was caring and accessible outside class. As premed student I found the material difficult, but Strangi went out and about to explain concepts well by providing all sorts of support to succeed in this course. I would definitely take it again.
PHYS122 had one day of lecture, one day of practice problems, and one quiz every week. You will do most of your learning for this class on youtube. If this is your first time taking physics E&M and you want to rely on the lectures only you will struggle. I did not learn much about physics when I took his class and the pace was slow.
I took AP Physics coming into this, so I really didn't learn much in lectures. He kept trying to reschedule things (like the final?!), but overall, the course was manageable. Homework is a good portion of the grade, and the exams are much easier than the SI review sheets, so studying by going to SI review sessions means you'll be fine on the test.
Professor Strangi is passionate about E&M and wants students to succeed. It may be hard to follow his progression with deriving out equations; however, he is easily accessible outside of class to answer questions about homework, lectures, or research interests.
Fall 2023 term had 3 different professors teaching different things so following along was difficult. The homework's are best to ensure that you understand the material. The posted lecture slides by Strangi were the most helpful for studying. Exams were easier because of the curve. If you do well in Lab its hard to do bad in the class.
Taking Strangi's class is a no-brainer - he rocks!
Dr. Strangi is amazing! They make tough physics concepts easy to understand and super interesting. One of the best professors—highly recommend!
Professor Strangi's PHYS122 is a game-changer! While the material can be tricky, his lectures and accessible help make it manageable. I found unstuck study super useful for extra practice and exam prep.
