she has a sense of humor.There was 25 people; dropped to 5. Only 3 of us liked her. She is VERY DIFFICULT! ALOT OF HARD WORK!I and a few others did well but the rest were irate. If your a biology major or seek a masters deg she is reccomended.

Very nice lady. At first she didn't seem too friendly but once the semester started going she was really nice. Very explanitive as well. I Would take her again.

WARNING shes a great prof and teaches like a UT-austin prof !!! to get on her good side you just need a general interest in bio and sit in the front or middle. dont goof and ask questions try and talk loud about a study group she likes that and will tell you what to study. she gives great letcures but you got to known what to save for notes shes not a prof who says this well be on the test! i passed the class with out having to buy the book!!! my class started out with 25 but we got down to about 12.

Dont believe what everyone else described her as. She is a good instructor who knows her stuff! Her lectures are good and if u dont understand somthing just ask her and she'll help you out. I agree this class is NOT for slackers,and remember ur in College not H.S. keep up with the material and ull do fine. I recomend her espcially for u Bio majors.

Take her if you can. In clas act like you do not understand what is going on because she will give you the easier test. Every person gets a different test. NO way to cheat on her test. Her test are verbatim of her study guide. She is an easy A if you put minimal effort into her project and study for her tests.

She was my professor for Biology 1306 & 1307 and turned out to be one of my best professor at NWV College. For those of you students who are serious and want a solid foundation in Biology, she ROCKS!! I'm currently a senior at UTSA and glad that I had professors that were strict, demanding and knowledgeable...making my upper courses a breeze!!

She is very helpful, if you ask for it. Her test are straightfoward. She requires you to think, but that's not a problem for some. I put out minimal effort and I received an A. If people tell you she is hard, then those students are potiental dropout's. Take it from me, she is easy, fair, and a waste of time because you have to go to class. Easy A!

Everyone needing a good background in Biology MUST take her class. I learned so much with Ms. Malave. She is very helpful and considerate with her students. She rocks! I will take another class she teaches.

Mrs. Malave is a great person. Absolutely loves Biology and is definitely one of the most KNOWLEDGEABLE teachers in the science department. However, she is no push over and has ALOT of reading required and is not the teacher you should pick if your not a science major. You will have about 5 tests, 4 quizzes, and 4 lab tests. Good Luck...

Absolutely take her class if you want to learn! She will help you and cares for your grades. EXTREMELY knowledgeable and always giving you the latest info in the subjects. SHE ROCKS!

As you can see you either love her or you hate her. Ms. Malave really cares about her students. If you are struggling GO SEE HER! Her accent is hard to get used to at first but it is not unbearable. Her test are easy if you study her notes and reviews. No book required.

If you listen better when someone has an accent take her class, otherwise don't. She is very helpful, and doesnt want students to fail she will always say come to my office. A very sweet lady.

Mrs.Malave is a great teacher! Thought the material she is teaching is hard, she does her best to make it easy to learn..and she really does care about you passing. There is no HW, she lets u make up tests and she is really easy to talk to for help. She gives you all the info you need in her notes and all the questions to study for tests w/answers.

Mrs. Malave was an awesome instructor! I wish she taught my other classes; she is funny, witty, helpful, enthusiastic, and encouraging. Yes, she has an accent but I had no difficulty understanding her. She provides notes and doesn't require the textbook. She gives detailed lectures and provides extra guidance if necessary. Excellent instructor!

Ms. Malave ROCKS! Biology is difficult, regardless of how it's presented. She explains it in a logical way. She doesn't mandate the book, but a lot of her notes come directly from it, and it's extremely helpful to read and understand the material prior to lecture. I'm in awe of Ms. Malave and wish I had her avail for the rest of my education.

Took her for the summer semester, really nice teacher and a generally easy course. She touts that you must study 3 hours every day but I found that to be an exaggeration. She also made us print our lab manual out and easily goes off into information that isn't tested on. Also a bit pissed that the book is basically obsolete for any assignments.

Best class to prepare you for the rigor of university level bio classes. She's sweet and cares if you care. She can be temperamental but is very knowledgeable. I transferred to UT and this class helped me sooo much!

After reading reviews, I thought she would be horrible. Her accent isn't bad if you're from San Antonio. She give out her own notes which are taken out of the book and are well organized. Plus, she puts VERY useful links in the notes to sites with tutorials, videos, etc. Biology is tough (a lot of info, but this teacher is not).

She is tough! She is ridiculous with her knowledge of this stuff, and therefore is able to teach on a higher level. She forces you to think critically, and if you're a bio or med major, take advantage of this, don't get upset by it! I've struggled all semester to maintain my 4.0, but I'll have a better education than those who take the easy route.

The class was difficult, but I learned more than expected. I know she was the best choice, because now I'm ready for other courses and I'm better prepared for the MCAT. Take her class! She cares about your future.Those that complain probably did not follow her advise to study every day...

The class was great. She brings new material all the time; the latest research available is in her notes. She is very dedicated. You have to study a lot, but is worth it. Her notes have everything you need to answer exam questions, you just need to study them. I would like to take other courses with this professor; she's good

She was pretty cool. I love her accent, but don't ask her where she's from cause then she gets upset for some reason. I think she's from Spain or something. You have to study those notes to the core! And take really good notes! I remembered her notes by her cute accent. "poly-PEP-tiTes" ha.

This was the hardest class I have ever taken! I learned more in her class than all my other classes combined. I LOVED HER! she really cared about educating not about give away grades. SO be prepared to sink or swim. and if your sinking she will help you if you ask.SHE IS AWESOME!

Easy exams. Get the Campbell Ch9 Bio book. Read the book do her end of ch reviews and you'll be good. Lecture Midterm was semi hard for me b/c I only studied 3 out of 5 chapters. But I have an A in the class because I did well on everything. Class is boring but tries to make it interesting. Drops an exam, a lab report, and gives attendance points.

Loved this teacher. She teaches you a lot. Read the textbook and her notes online and you'll pass. Show up for class. If biology is your major then it'll interest you because of how much you learn. If not then take a professor like Ashley McGee. Overall, she's not easy. You have to study.

She is definitely a great instructor. I'm a biology major so this class was very interesting to me and that is a big part of your success in the course. Except to do a lot of reading, studying ON YOUR OWN TIME. Her exams are challenging, but she gives you a review and the answers to it. She's awesome! ONLY take her class if you are willing to work.

This class is a tough class, but as long as you ask for help and show a legitimate interest Professor Malave will take the time to help you understand anything. She recognizes the difficulty of this class and is sympathetic to you needs. Do not take this unless your degree requires it!

I love ms malave. I got A's on all the tests, nearly perfect scores, and it was all due to Ms. Malave's notes. Read her notes seriously (not the book), and remember them, and you will outshine all the others in your class. I took her Biology 1. Her lectures are so clear and explainable. They have all information you need to know . If you want to get an A in this class, you have to study very hard especially her lectures and her reviews. She is an awesome teacher . I love her very much. If you really want to study Biology, take her.

Great professor, she is extremely helpful when approached if you have a question. I RECOMMEND HER! She clearly assigns things and asks for ?s. Material is just hard because it's Bio which is a hard subject! Study hard, be involved, get to know her, you will do great. I came from a big university and loved this class. This prof. knows her stuff, is passionate about it, and doesn't mess around. She also uploads extremely detailed notes and reviews. I didn't buy my book due to cost, but with the tools she offered, made A's on each exam. If you are looking for an easy bio class, this isn't your prof. If you are willing to study and work hard, you will learn a lot.

Ms. Malave is a great teacher. She provides you with her personal notes (Which is actually an entire biology text book that she maintains and updates often). The notes come with review material and practice test questions. This course covers 15 chapters, 13 of which are easy to master, 2 of which are ridiculous, but your lowest test is dropped.

Tough class, but if you put forth the effort, you can do well and learn a great deal. She knows her stuff, and does not tolerate immaturity. She's a no-nonsense, hardcore instructor. She covers EVERYTHING, and expects you to learn it because you will be tested over it. Her tests require a lot of critical thinking and can be very tough. Be prepared.

She is very knowledgeable in biology. She was clear on the grading criteria since day and of what was expected since day 1. Has powerpoints but mostly writes down lectures on board. Powerpoints include links to many resources. Uses videos to further grasp content. Bio requires a lot of studying, dont expect to pass without it.

Take Professor Malave if you care more about learning biology than an easy A. She provides incredible notes. Study them, save them for med school prep. The book helps explain things differently, but isn't necessary. Tests are all multiple choice, extra-credit given, but they are of different levels of difficulty. Beware test 2, max test 1 .

Very good lectures! I found her class very interesting and I would definitely take her class again. A lot of information was provided in her class. She is very knowledgeable. If you really want to learn about biology, you should take her class but be ready to study because tests are not easy.

I really like her because shes the kind of lady who doesnt take any bs. She requires a book, but you dont need it if you read her class notes. Beware of the final lab exam, she will look for specific chemicals used. 10/10 recommends taking in the summer when you dont have a heavy courseload. She makes you work for your grade.

Even though sometimes it was difficult to understand her she made the subject easier to understand. Lab exams weren't hard at all. Lecture exams were more difficult, just study the material and you'll be fine. she drops lowest exam grade and lab report.

I liked this class. I learned a lot and this class prepared me for my chem and bio 2 class. Very few grades. She does drop lowest lab and lowest class exam grade. She lectures a lot but also draws on the board. I am a visual learner and appreciated this.

Professor Malave is an outstanding teacher. She is very thorough and truely enjoys teaching and the material. This is a tough class, as she wants complete comprehension of the concepts. The course requires crititcal thought instead of memorization. Read her notes AND the textbook. Max test 1 and be thorough on lab reports. Dont take for an easy A!
