Glen is a personable instructor who cares whether his students are getting it. There seems to be a large difference in how he teaches upper and lower division classes. The higher up you are, the less he depends on tests and other arbitrary measures. Does count attendance. He's very sweet and very versed on the subjects he teaches.

As every other PSU Psych class, this class was all lecture with 3 exams, which are the only thing you're graded on (no essays/papers is really nice). Glen attempted to make the lecture a bit less boring and his tests weren't so bad. The topics presented were pretty interesting. I'd recommend PSY311 with Glen to anyone.

You'd be better off to take this course from another professor. Class is all Powerpoint lecture -- unbearably boring. If it wasn't for the weekly note card responses (his only way of taking attendance) there is practically no reason to go to class. Exams are pathetically easy. You could teach yourself this material and still walk out with an A.

You have to realize he's teaching a group of 200 people. It's not like there's a lot of room for interaction. I think he's does his best to keep the lecture fairly engaging. That being said, you could skip most lectures, read the text, and still get an A. I'd recommend it if you need an easy filler for University Studies.

He's a decent prof. Not the best ever but his class is an easy A. Tests are fairly easy and if you go to class then there is no need to open the book or you could skip class and just read the book, either way you'll pass with flying colors. Two tests and a final plus he does attendence (you turn in a note card) once a week.

Extremely disorganized. Make sure to take notes because not all of the slides are online and you will need them for the online midterms. Online midterms take forever but if you've taken notes you should do fine. Takes forever to grade papers and still aren't posted online when the term is almost over.

He's extremely boring and not very likable. Definitely heed the warnings and steer clear of this professor. Class materials weren't super hard but the professor makes the class really unenjoyable. He just reads off his long power points and doesn't engage the class. Don't even buy the book. I would NOT take a class of his again.

Dreadfully boring. He drones on and on all day and says some really awful things. Once said that "you can change almost anything about yourself, but you can't change your gender without expensive surgery." Or "Sexism used to be a problem in colleges." Worships Freud, completely misunderstands basic behaviorism, is just all sorts of awful.

Glen's amassed a great deal of wealth on the subject of psychology, especially on how it relates to spirituality. His lectures are loaded with information, though he tends to rely a bit much on his slides rather than improvisation and promoting student dialogue. Either way, take this class if you're interested in learning all about the subject.

Lectures are long and about as exciting as you can make this subject matter. The point here is he tries and there's no denying that he know the materials covered well. That said it's the hardest class I've ever taken, but I survived. Expect to be CHALLENGED and have a clear understanding at the end or take another prof with less standards.

Goes off on tangents. Course material should be broken up into 2 sections to get more "meat" meaningful understanding of human development. Hardest course ever taken. Very boring and long lectures. Take a different instructor

Really inspiring with a lot of knowledge on the subject. We were in his last class before he retired. Lectures were long, but very interesting and informative. He used a lot of helpful handouts that broke down complex subjects and theories. My favorite part of the class was the way he did attendance with index cards. Great professor :)

Unless you like being talked at, ridiculously loooong powerpoints, and study guides that are 6 pages long--take a different teacher. This guy only likes to hear himself talk, test questions are worded weird and his voice is just boring and monotone. never had to work so damn hard for a B. Took an interesting topic and made it boring.

It's too bad that Glen has retired. I am happy that I was in the last 311U class that he taught at Portland State. He was a good professor and cracked a joke from time to time as well. He will be missed in the Portland State community.
