It was a huge mistake/waste of money, signing up for his class. His tests are all essay and its close to impossible to pass them. During his lecture he keeps on clearing his throat about every ten seconds. Jones knows his material but what good is the class when you cant pass.

This is the worst I had to sit through. Jones clears his throat about every 2 seconds plus he gives no review..yes combined with 5 chapters or so. His test are all essay friend, enjoy!!I wasted my money on this class.I want a refund.. Keep note of the drop date if you take this course.

I'm the guy below this one with a smiley... I'm not smiling about anything except I made it out with a B... This teacher is a conservative rhetoric, spokesman... so, yeah...biased.. I'm not smiling... so now I'll make sure I even that out with an frown...

Is there a rating below one? To this day I still can’t comes to terms with the precious time I lost trying to succeed in this worthless class. All essay, no review..... you catch the drift.

My advice is PLEASE do NOT waste your time or money. Learn from all of us...why is this guy still teaching?!?! That's my question. 85% of the people including myself dropped the class and the ones who stayed regretted it.

I want my money back!! If you take this class be sure to kiss your money goodbye and keep a good note on the drop date. It's a crime that Wharton would hire anyone of this rigid magnitude. If you do take him (out of stupidity) be sure to play "Count The Throat Clearings" game. Try to top my score of 221 clearings in an hour.

my sentiments exactly from reading all the other reviews here. I took this class last year and out my sheer ignorance I did not ask around about him. The day before I dropped this class there were about 5 students left when the class started out with 29. I flunked each of his "test essays" when I put my heart & soul in em.

very difficult lots of notes 1st test = 40 or more pgs of notes and test very broad u could write a whole book on unclear questions.

To the person below, you must have no life!. I worked extremely hard on his essays and still walked out with an f. You must be a gifted nerd. The average person needs to keep out of this course. If you like tons & tons of reading & notes and William Faulkner writing (in your essay) just in order to pass (enroll now) : )

My worst educational experience ever.

Vey hard teacher. Would not recommend taking him. Barely passed his class before the final. I almost dropped him but I fought it out in the end and managed to pass with a D.

Tests are in essay format with 10 short definitions. The test's are extremely hard. My class started with about 30 people and another girl and I were the only ones who did not drop the course. I dropped english to concentrate to achieve a good score in the history class. I squeezed through with a D; which obviously is not transferable.

Essay tests. Very hard to pass his tests. He teaches what is not in the book during class, then you have to go home and read and put the stuff that isn't in the book with the stuff you had to read. Tests are almost impossible to pass with his harsh grading style. Professor clears his throat a lot while teaching and it is very annoying.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! he is very very hard..u will get below a 50 even if u study no possible way u can get an A or even a B..most students dont pass or get a D so dont take him!!

he is an unexplainably hard teacher...u have to work really hard like, wayyyyyy hard to at least get a b-..or even a c. His voice makes it even more boring and he's rather intimidating to ask something about the class...most ppl in my class dropped, like no joke..this is by far the WORST teacher i have had.

WORST TEACHER EVER

This teacher wears hawaiian shirts with cowboy boot!! Besides his outfit being a distraction, he clears his throat after every other word he says. Weird thing is that I learned more in one semester of history than in 4 years of high school. He gives good lectures, but his tests are ridiculously impossible to ace. His grading is absurd.

Yep, worst teacher ever that teaches at WCJC! I also saw him teach at HCC in Stafford... he is teaching in the WRONG places, he should be teaching at U of H! NOT at the JUNIOR COLLEGE level!

He IS OLD AND BORING!!! And he grades weird and won't answer questions at all. Plus grades quizzes weird. This man is psycho and should have considered retirement years ago.

Look, He is a very smart man who knows a lot about history, he just has no regard on helping students learn and get good grades, I have approach him several times for help, all he says is write more, so I do and still get Ds... Teacher skills arnt so great, take another teacher if you can

Dr. Jones teaches in a very unorthodox way. very hard to follow and take notes. there is no use in trying to study none of it will be on the test. be prepared to write during the tests. he clears his throught alot and plays with keys in his pocket. so if you get irritated easily dont take this class

Studied my best for the test and got a D- and one time i didnt study at all and I got a D+ I have to take notes from my book because he doesn't explain things well.

He knows his history however when it comes to grading tests he grades really hard and you dont know how to improve. His lectures have a lot of details but I would have a hard time comprehending him. I would suggest not taking him if you are a person that is looking for a teacher who is expressive and understandable

The hardest teacher i have ever had. I actually enjoy history & usually get A’s in this subject, but not in his class. Every test is all essay questions. Most of the people I know that are in his class haven’t received above a C on any of their tests. Even my counselor said he wasn’t a very good teacher. I suggest someone else!

Jones is probably the hardest teacher I have ever taken. I managed to stay in his class and get an A despite my failing tests. Grades hard and you don't know what he really wants. Not worth it

His lectures are very boring because of his voice. He teaches off a map of events and places he drew. If u want an entertaining professor don't take him.

His essays are the tests. He doesn't assign any homework. Just read the book and study the notes you took. Took this class in the Fall semester and got a B. If u want an easy A, don't take him

If u want to succeed, my best advice to you is to bring a small sound recorder and record all his lectures, and play them back at home, b/c they are very detailed

Get out while you still can! Hardest teacher ever! His exams are all essays and once you get them back almost everything is crossed out or circled! No help at all! I never knew anyone who got a A or B! His lectures are so dreadful! If you want to get at least a C,this is not the class for you ,my suggestion is to take Spellman! Sorry Jones

Read the book! The book is your best friend for that class! But seriously, don't take him!

Worst teacher by far. DO NOT TAKE HIM! His tests are half essay ad half definition. When you receive your grade, he has circled random words. He circled the word 'the' four times in an essay and told me I needed to explain that better. How do you explain the word 'the' better? Exactly. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU NEED A HISTORY CREDIT. TAKE ANYONE ELSE!

He is always behind on his test schedule, forcing the last test to be taken at the same time as the final. His feedback is very unclear and not helpful. However, recording his lectures can help. Given a choice I would not choose this professor.

This is honestly the worst class I've ever taken in my entire life. I have never struggled as much as I did in Jones' class. He talked so much that we only ended up having 3 grades for the entire semester (all of which were tests). If you care at all about your grade or well being, you will not choose this professor.

I lasted 3 months in his class then finally decided to drop it. Don't take him because it will be difficult to get a good grade. He talks all class and starts class early and also ends it late. Jones is a HORRIBLE instructor. Throughout the whole semester, we were supposed to have four tests, but he kept pushing them back to the point that we had to take our third (and final) test on the same day as the semester exam. His tests are impossible to score higher than a C and he is not friendly at all when you ask for clarifications on grades.

Lectures are the main way to receive the information needed for his class. The book helps, but both that and his lectures are extremely monotonous. Had a hard time staying focused and awake.

Professor jones is an awful professor. He is not a clear grader, just makes red marks on your paper and gives you a D. He is a cliche history teacher; old and boring lectures. He also draws nonsense diagrams on the board. Would not recommend him to anyone. I dropped his class and take it with a better prof. Be ready to read & take long essay tests.
