Conveys material very well, friendly and funny, best MTH prof at WSU
No Comments
Great teacher, made math fun. Very helpful, always avaiable.

Enjoyable classes, funny, homework for practice only that is never checked.
best professor in math department. Wright State math department sucks!
Nice and Funny. I really despise math and he made me actually enjoy his class.
He is the best math teacher I have ever had. Most homework is never checked. His tests are fair, and bonus questions are easy!! He makes class very entertaining!!
Math is one of my worst subjects but Glen made it fun. He wasn't condesending when I didn't understand the material and found a different approach to explain things. He is a great teacher and I gained alot from our time in class.
Just an excellent instructor. no more needs to be said.
I've never done well with math, and this class is definitely a challenge. Sometimes the way Glenn phrases things or writes them on a test can be confusing when really what he's asking for is something simple. Watch out for questions worded difficultly.
Check out this guy's Long Island accent! His jokes are a little corny, but he's the best math professor this school's got. Class lets out early b/c he's clear and to the point. Highly recommended!
explains things well. tells the class exactly what is expected.
The absolute BEST thing the WSU math department has to offer. Straightforward, fun, intelligent. If he's available, sign up for his class.
outstandong teacher, if only all the other math teachers were like this, and if only he taught a class that wasnt so hated (calculus) he would be the best teacher on campus
Great teacher, makes class interesting and fun, abosolutely the best teacher i have had at Wright State University.
Easiest Class at Wright State
Best math teacher I have ever had. I have never understood math until I took his class.
Glenn Dahl is an excellent professor. He explains concepts clearly and does not make his tests overly confusing. His students learn the material well. I strongly recommend him.
Mr. Dahl is a straight forward teacher. If you don't get it, he gives you every opportunity to get it! His tests can be a little confusing but aren't extrememly difficult. He's got an odd sense of humor but loves to tell jokes. You'll enjoy his class!
I really enjoyed going to class. How often can you say that! I was never stressed out because he let you know what was expected of you from the get go. Willing to help student succeed.
very easy and gives points for going to office hours. he is very helpful and doesn't grade very hard. best math teacher ever.
LOVED THIS GUY. HE IS GREAT, HIS TEST ARE AWESOME! CLASS IS ALWAYS DISMISSED EARLY
I thought it was Math & Modern World, not STT in disguise. Book/homework is ignored. Note taking/attendance is a must. Took MTH 127 and did well; this GenED is much more difficult to me.
very particular about minor things
repeats himself to make it easier for you to understand, goes over and over materials until you know it good, once materials covered allows you to tell him what to do on sample problems ("reteach" it to him), learned well from him, reccommend
I HATE math, and I have dropped every 145 class I have ever registered for until this one. His quizzes are fair, gives you some credit for attempting an answer, tells you what to study, gives points for stapling! If you are not math prone, take Dahl, he will help you pass :)
I agree that Glenn Dahl is an exceptional math teacher. I have ALWAYS hated math...with a passion...but taking his class helped me to understand it. The real-life situations we worked with allowed me to see how I could use math in the real world. I love the set-up of the class and he's great!
he just did nto care
glen is the best math teacher i have ever had. he really gets you to think on a child's level. he is so helpful and he always makes class interesting and fun. he usually lets you out early - but attendance is mandatory becasue he takes points off when you dont come. hes a great guy though.
I really enjoy his class. He has a sarcastic sense of humor, but i love it. His class is rather easy, he is a great teacher, and it's worth your time! He's the kind of teacher I would definately want again!!
very mad teacher, it was like i was teaching my self out the book.
He was very intimidating the first day of class, but once he got into teaching the material he was very good. He gives several examples and will answer any and all questions students have. He is very easy to talk to. I definitely recommmend him if you have to take a STT 160 class.
glenn is a great guy. he is fun to talk to and everything, but he doen't tech mush. plan on teaching yourself out of the book nost of the time. class time is wasted, but it is so easy. if you're looking for the easy grade take this class. you never have to do any homework b/c he doesn't collet anything. i have never opened a math book in college.
Make sure you do the homework. He really boosted my grade going into the final, which I did badly on because it was a common final.
Does not teach, and class time is a waste of time. I do not recommend this teacher!! He will not answer questions clearly and he wastes time in class! He does however grade somewhat easy.
A very nice guy. It doesn't matter what you don the comon final he gives you a good grade.
He is different from other instructors, he will not give u the answer to a question easily, first he'll make u answer. He might sound bitter on the first day but trust me it'll get better. Take notes from every little thing in class bec. u'll c them either on the test or quiz. Never collects HW. He'll make sure u pass the course.
He is a good teacher. He doesn't collect homework, but help yourself by doing it. Starts class by answering questions you have over homework. Tests make you think-which is his goal. Wants you to understand material so you can teach it. Seems mean at first, but cares about math and wants you to. Class is what YOU put in. He will not spoon feed you.
easy grader, not a good prof. doesnt teach at all, he makes the students talk to him about what the chapter is about. isnt clear at all about material. class is a waste of time.
Not enough room to tell why this professor is so great. He asks questions during class to test your understanding, and in turn, provokes questions that you might have. Makes a difficult subject easy to understand! Highly recommend
He is annoying at first but just stick with it and once you get used to his teaching style it is worth it. Make sure that you go to class and participate, he doesnt like lazy people so if you are lazy find another teacher.
The first day he may seem overbearing, but I promise he only gets better as the course goes on. Awesome teacher!
Glenn (not Greg) is a fantastic stats teacher:you must think for yourself. Answer his questions in class even if you're wrong; you'll enjoy his class even more. He doesn't have a problem putting people on the spot either. Tried to get me to reveal my age a few times.
good professor. can seem a bit overwhelming on the first day but he is really nice. lots of groupwork!
He is an extremely hard grader. If you can figure out exactly how he wants you to answer then you'll be fine. He is a nice guy, but if you hate math and anything that is comprehensive then don't take him. He tends to answer questions that you have in riddle form which leaves you more confused then you already were.
He is awesome you just have to get to know him!!! use his office hours and you will get an A!!!! I suck at math and I got an A!!!!!
He is awesome you just have to get to know him!!! use his office hours and you will get an A!!!! I suck at math and I got an A!!!!!
The guy is quirky but funny. He asks questions that are vague and seem open ended, but will give you clues to help lead to the answer. I prefer a more straight forward question. I never felt more ignorant than when I first looked over each quiz. Avoid the frustration, college is supposed to be fun, find another class.
the best teacher i have had here at wright state. he is a hard teacher but will help you along. doesn't just want a right answer but wants you to understand the material.
Great lecturer, puts up with no nonsense, but worth your time. He keeps it interesting.
Do not take this teacher...he freakin sucks...I loved math until i had him, he makes no sense whatsoever, his homework is ridiculous and he made my life hell!! Take someone else!!
when you go into this class and, you will feel so lost, he likes to go over like 1 thing and then leave, doesn't use the whole class time, which is really annoying...was gonna drop the class, but decided to stick it out, things see to be getting better! have 1 paper and a quiz every wed and hw that is due on monday. hw is okay if you stay & ask ?
He is never straight forward and will give you the run around for answers. Use his office hours because I did and managed to get an A and I didnt know anything about STT.I would NOT reccommend him or take him if I didnt have to because this class is very stressful(because of his teaching style.
I like class with Glenn. He was a very good teacher. He is willing to help with any questions.
Dahl really challenges you.
Glenn is a bit challenging, but he gave me a different perspective on mathematics. I would definitely recommend him.
His teaching style is a different from any other professor that I have had. Therefore, the material that he teaches can be a bit confusing if you do not have prior understanding to math. Overall, I thought he was an easy teacher thought. FYI:At the end of the quarter a grade will be given to you by other classmates on participation and attitude!
Class is not overly difficult, but his teaching style of repeating things indefinately until he's satisfied will not make class easy. If you get the problem it will annoy you that he continues to patronize you, if you don't get it, his constant 50%....or 50%, isn't going to help. Could be worse I suppose.
Class was difficult, but its business calculus. Quizzes every wednesday, and tests every third friday. No real surprises. I got an A in this class and didnt even attend all classes, but if you dont attend class you will get lost. This is hard stuff. Gives us homework, but not mandatory to do which is nice if you forget. Take Dahl.
I liked Glen he was verry helpful I always looked foward to going to his class.
Glenn is hands down the best Calc instructor you can have.
Mr. Dahl is a great guy; he just isn't necessarily a great teacher. His style stifles some, and his repetitve ways of unhelpful clues don't assist students in retrieving the correct answer. He is a wonderful guy, and very funny. But he's not very good at explaining things
This guy isnt easy on you. But he will make and help you learn. If you aren't intimidated and actually ask questions and work with him he will be your best stat teacher ever. He'll actually look out for ya and care if you want to work for it. And if you do work for it, it can be the best thing you ever do.
Glenn Dahl is a nice funny guy, but not a good teacher. He gives strange clues that don't make sense. He takes attendance so don't skip. If you take MTH143, you have to write papers. He isn't good at grading them. He takes off points for unnecessary reasons. Take him if you are confident with math, otherwise, don't.
Glenn Dahl is a great teacher and fun to be around! i highly recommend him for any classes that you might take
This is someone you want to take! Glenn expects you to try - participate in class, do the homework. If you put in effort he will do everything he can to help you do well in his class. Great guy, fun in class, great teacher!
His way or the highway. Considering we are learning to be teachers this is not a good example to set. A teacher should be a little more flexible. I wouldn't look at him as a good role model for future teachers. All in all I don't recommend him. He is unclear about what he expects from his student, and doesn't explain why you miss points. good luck
Glenn is always available to his students. Makes a very boring subject interesting and class is always a blast. He expects you too work, but doesn't overdo it. Definitely treats it like a Gen Ed. One quiz and one lab a week. Simple. Highly recommend for STT 160
Atrocious! He is selfish and not available in specified office hours. I took him for the math for education majors. He will not email you back. In general he just isn't a very nice grader or guy. He doesn't give clear expectations.
Fun guy. Very smart but kind of unclear about what will be on tests, what he wants in papers etc... I thought that writing 3 papers for a math class was kind of bizzare...but it ended up being a fairly easy class. Just go to class and do the problems.
He's supposed to teach us how to teach math, but he doesn't. He gives us tests that are riddles that have nothing to do with what we learned in class. His expectations are unclear, and unless you want to write a book for every test question, you won't get full credit. He makes me feel like I am incapable of becoming a teacher. Don't take him.
this guys is nice and decent at teaching. however the tests are not related to classwork and his essay papers are a complete joke. he limits them to two pages but when I wrote 2 he always take points off for not going into enough depth. contradictory much? DO NOT TAKE HIM
He is good at teaching us how to teach but his tests are hard! He is very kind though and helpful! I missed a lot of class because of health reasons and he has been kind, understanding, and helpful!
Absolutely the worst teacher I've had so far! He is not helpful at all and its very unclear what he expects of you. If you take him you'll pretty much be teaching yourself the class because he doesn't teach. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!
Glen is an AMAZING professor and I would recommend him to anyone that is taking statistics. He made difficult concepts seem so simple, and i really enjoyed his class. He made class fun with his high energy, even at 8:30AM! TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT AN A+ IN STATISTICS!!!!
Glenn is a really funny guy and he makes the class interesting. It is kind of a hard class but he is very helpful. There are no tests (except the final), just quizzes that are 2 questions long each week. The labs are super easy, too.
Really nice and funny, but quizzes and tests were difficult because they didnt relate to what we learned. I was very disapointed with the final. I felt like it was unfair and not what I expected
If you get the chance to take his class, jump all over it! Glen has a passion and enthusiasm for his chosen field, and a desire to provide students with a practical understanding of an often unpopular class. He is always willing to help, effortlessly engages the class, and holds his students accountable as the adults they claim to be. The best!
Glenn was an awesome professor. If you can take his class then do it. he goes off on unrelated subjects in class but its a good thing. hes very passionate about his job and it shows. really doesnt use the book except for homework which he doesnt collect. But the homework is always easy and it really helps with the tests.
I was shocked to find his ratings as only so-so. He's a great professor who really gets you thinking outside of the box. It's not a super easy A, but it is definitely do-able to get an A! Seriously take him you won't regret it! I will see him around campus and he still remembers my name. You won't find many professors like that!
Best professor I've ever had. His class is very critical thinking. Very helpful outside of class as well. He makes his class challenging, but if you put forth the effort, you can do well. He makes the class very enjoyable with his dry sense of humor and joke telling a midst the math. Would recommend him for anyone wanting a good person and teacher
Absolutely the BEST math teacher I've ever had. I was terrified to do calculus, but he makes you think and instead of just writing on the board like my other teachers, he makes you work the problem out and you understand at the end. Funny and energetic, which is good for a 9 am class. He is very passionate and patient.
I hate math, but Glenn is awesome. I wish he had been my math teacher for every math class. He is enthusiastic without being annoying, even early in the morning. Highly recommend!
Glenn is a super nice guy & is able to relate calculus to concepts I understood. He gets off topic sometimes, which is annoying when it's the end of class & the only reason everyone is hanging around is to find out what the homework will be but he's just talking about unrelated topics. If you do the homework every night it should be an easy B.
Glenn is a great teacher! I really enjoyed his class. He makes you do a lot of critical thinking, not just use equations to find an answer. Overall a wonderful experience.
He's not bad but not very clear at times. Goes off topic a lot. There is a 2 question (25 pt) quiz every week, one of them asking to explain something, usually terms. The labs are easy point each week, but don't need to go to them. No homework, really. Final was 6 questions, worth 100 points. Not overly difficult, just confusing at times.
I really enjoyed him. He had a very easygoing personality, which I liked. The class was not hard at all. Since it is an education class, he wants your attendance. Overall I enjoyed the class and Glenn.
Glenn was a really nice guy, but he never actually taught. The entire class consisted of us working in our books, which he never really checked up on. There was homework, but we only had 2 homework checks. He'll help if you ask him to, but mostly you end with more questions than answers.
Glenn is awesome. Apart from his numerous jokes and off topic conversations, he is to the point. I studied for all of his quizzes right before class and did well on them. Do not forget the big idea when it comes to his weekly quizzes. Labs are easy and seem to be there just to gain extra points. He will make you laugh so participate and enjoy!
Glenn is a laid back guy but we never really stayed on topic in class which made the second phase of this math class difficult when I had a different professor. Overall, he's not a bad teacher to take.
Glenn is not the teacher to take if you're taking a MTH 2410 class. He never teaches the class as a whole, tests and quizzes are unclear and you need to word your answers exactly as he wants. He doesn't answer questions and if he's had a bad day in his personal life, he has a knack for out bursting in class and taking it out on his students.
This guy is great, he's the only math department professor I've had so far that I actually learned anything from. He's smart, knows how to teach the material and helps you when you are struggling on a quiz. It's about learning with this guy, not grading.
The beginning of the semester was tough because he has a very lenient teaching style. After getting used to it, I did fine. The material wasn't very difficult, he takes attendance points each day, the tests were pretty straightforward and simple.I loved his little anecdotes and stories he told. Very good math teacher made me enjoy math again.
Glenn is a FANTASTIC math teacher. I went into stats so scared I was going to fail but Glenn makes it so easy to understand and I did better than I ever expected too. He is SO funny and really helpful if you're stuck on something. Take him definitely if you can in ANY math course!
He is an ok teacher & that's pushing it. I did well in the class but not because of his help, more because I wasn't going to allow myself to fail. You mostly teach yourself so if you can read a math book and look at examples and learn you will do fine. The tests aren't terrible but they aren't a piece of cake either. If you try you will do fine!
Glenn is super funny. He cracks jokes all throughout class. I recommend meeting with him for office hours if you do not understand something. In class he speeds through the information. There also may be some quizzes without calculators. Study and memorize all the formulas and trig values and you'll be golden.
Good funny teacher, schedule is repetitive. Lets class out early all the time
Beast professor, very funny and also very helpful, some people weren't doing so well so he dropped 2 of our worst quizzes. Quiz every friday, and 3 exams, never any homework though.
Glenn is an AMAZING teacher. Super funny, makes class enjoyable. I strongly suggest going to class every day, if so, easy A. Gives great feedback on quizzes and he helps a lot in class. Best class and teacher i've had so far. Strongly suggest his statistics class!
I like him as a guy but as a professor he kind of stinks. At the end of the semester my final grade was a B and I knew I had earned an A in there so I emailed him and asked why I had a B and he asked for my quiz grades because he had lost them. He's unorganized and unaccountable. This was my second time taking him and he was like this both times.
Weekly quizzes, no exams, def take him in the summer. you have to attend class but he's flexible if you have work or get sick! he's pretty funny too!
He is so amazing and incredibly funny! He makes Stats fun to learn and alot easier to actually understand. No required homework, quizzes every week, no book needed, labs super short, 1 final exam. Really he makes This class super easy.
I would marry Glenn if he were not already married. Seriously love him. 10/10 recommend to everyone. Non graded homework and no test. A quiz once a week and he is very helpful. The best professor I have ever had before.
Glenn was a super awesome teacher. We had quizzes every Wednesday, labs due on Fridays, and an eight question final exam. If theres something wrong on your quiz when you go to turn it in, he tells you so that youre able to fix it and turn it back in. Hes a super funny guy and makes you want to learn statistics and has some very funny slogans.
No magic
Glenn is hilarious. He's just amazing!!!!! Cracks a joke every other minute which made me actually love going to class. Exams and quizzes were easy. Gives u credit even if you answer wrong on a question, just as long as you write something lol. Would 1000000000/10 recommend. love this guy.
I really liked Glenn as a person. But in class, he goes extremely quickly. I understand there's a lot of material, but he goes unnecessarily fast and most of his assistants don't even understand him. On the plus side, he does give credit if you at least attempt a problem, even if you get it wrong. Great guy, poor professor.
I took Glenn for MTh1280 and he was awesome! As long as you show some type of work, he gives you credit, even if the answer is incorrect. His quizzes and exams are straight forwarded and really easy to get points. Class time is never dull or boring, always something new, so attendance is mandatory. He drops lowest quiz or exam grade too.
Willing to help and wants to see his students do well. At times does fly through material.
Glenn is such a funny guy. Although the material is tough, he tends to teach it well. There is a quiz every week and sometimes it is not clear what will be on it. He is very strict about knowing your definitions. He makes class fun but stats is very difficult to understand.
He hates if you talk or use your phone in class. He expects you to be there everyday but if you give him an excuse he will accept it. We never used our textbooks for anything and he doesn't have pilot so you don't know your grade until he gives it back to you. You have a quiz every week and it's all the material you have learned so far.
Quiz every week, no homework. If you don't know the answer, write down as much information as you can for partial credit. Overall, Glenn is the best professor at Wright State and you should take any class he teaches whenever you get the chance.
Quiz and lab every week, neither of which were particularly difficult if you paid attention in class. Grades fairly and provides feedback when needed. Glenn always tries to inject some humor into the class which was nice, even if it wasn't always funny :p.
Good at showing different ways to approach the same problem. He goes around and gives help but not direct answers. There is a quiz every week and a test every three weeks. If you show up and take some notes you will get a good grade. Make sure to at least attempt something on the quizzes and tests he gives partial credit. I would recommend him
Take Glenn's class! He is so funny and one of my favorite professors on campus. He is extremely easy to work with but does not use any online interface so attending class is a must. I am horrible at math but breezed through this class like nothing and even have a side job dealing with stats now because of how well understood it was.
My favorite professor. Very hands on and makes sure you know the content
I have now been through about 4 math professors, He is very nice and outgoing. He is good at explaining what is on hand. Let's you know what going to happen in advance. He is also one of the nicest math professors so far. You will be pleased with him.
Glenn is a phenomenal professor at WSU. I am not the biggest fan of math, but he made this class enjoyable for me. This course consists of a quiz once a week, an occasional lab, and exams. Homework is optional but highly recommended. This class makes you think, but it's totally worth it. Very doable class with an exceptional professor.
Awesome professor. He gives partial credit which is awesome. Quiz every week. If you work hard and do you homework you will be fine. His quizzes and tests are 90% over his lectures. Taking notes will help tremendously. Very understanding. Extremely funny. Lectures are awesome which make you love math.
Lenient with grading. Doesn't really require you to be in class but you're not going to pass unless you show up and pay attention. Easy quizzes and homework but tests can be hard. Wonderful instructor who knows how to break things down to better understand. Lots of 1-on-1 feedback. Easy to get a hold of at almost any time. Very silly and personable
Dude. Easy enough the Dahl man is one of the best math teachers at wright state. He understands and offers his own time to help if you need it. He simplifies everything to make it easier to understand. Good dude, Evener better teacher.
Hes a super good math teacher ! Not too many of those in the math department at Wright state ! Go to class if you wanna pass ! He provides the papers to lectures daily and go over the problems ! Hes also funny ! Only flaw he never put grades in the grade book so I honestly never knew where I stood !
really funny! office hours are well known so you can always pop in if you need help! he follows the same schedule every week so you know what to expect, and he prints out papers for you to work on, so long as you do those you are all set!
Mr. Dahl is a great foundational Math professor. He gives good feedback if you messed up. He only gives quizzes and a final plus homework every 2 weeks. He is a teacher that wants you to learn and open your mind a bit. His office hours are open and you could even visit him before class starts if needed. Take His Class over any other.
Don't take his class. He cannot teach at all. Only reason I'm passing is because I'm teaching myself. Quizzes every Friday, and they're just a bunch of puzzles. His tests are easier though. He goes off topic MANY TIMES. He also complicates even the easiest things in math.
Very easy class. He is very easy going and is very understanding if you are not able to make it to class. He is an amazing teacher, as I have not understood math this well since I was a junior in high school.
I've been in college for 3 years and have taken at least 4 math classes. Proffessor Glenn is by far the best math teacher Ive had. He doesnt over-whlem you tests or homework. He takes time to explain things and really makes sure you understand what your doing. Hes a fantastic teacher.
He is a great teacher, in fact he told me about this website, and I wanted to wright something nice. He gets upset with those who don't try. But he really tries to get his students to think and be successful. He waits for his students to WANT to grow and be more. He is funny and has a great personality. I will pass math for the first time.
Glenn was a very good lecturer. He explained things very well, always made sure the class understood what was going on & was overall very helpful. He was very good at emailing back & was very understanding with any issue I had from personal to school related.
NGL!! Glenn Dahl is one of the best math professors at WSU!! In class, he gives you the lesson in the first half of class and then you try the questions on your own and ask for help if you have questions. Outside of class, hes very helpful during office hours... YES GO TO THEM. Do great and study hard for the tests and labs and you should be fine.
