though he was weird at first. but i liked going to his classes. i even recommended this class to my friends and he likes him too. you'll like him too.

An incredible teacher. Makes every day interesting...actually makes you think about issues. Will do anything to help you out. Quite impressive to make students at a technical school enjoy a social science class...but he does it very well.

i absolutely hate history....but Dorn has AWSOME stories and even though i took the class so freaking early in the morning it was interesting...probably one of the most interesting classes i've ever taken (period).

aside from teaching me more than any teacher i had a class for i think he might have saved my life. he cares more for students than most parents care for their own kids.

He is the most awesome professor in the world. Can not wait to take his current issues class. He is great as a professor, advisor, and especially friend. He cares very much about his students. I am Speechless!! Great professor:-)

Great teacher. Most of it is lectures but he keeps it interesting.

By far, the most interesting teacher I have ever had for any subject. I'm an EP major, but this is probably my favorite class. It is pretty much all lectures, but just take good notes and look over them the day before the test and you are set.

Very good presentation of material. Made class interesting, only one I never fell asleep in. Pay attention and its an easy A.

I came to school here for aviation. The funny thing is...the best teacher I had was Dr. Dorn...for history! Quite possibly the most interesting teacher I have ever had.

Great teacher and man. He knows his history and he does not bored you names and dates. You have to go to class to get information on what will be on the test. But his lecture are so good you dont want to miss a class.

OMG!! Possibly the most interesting dresser ever, the boots with the floresant flower shirt, great, funny guy, his knowledge is incredible, test are little tricky, but he keeps you amazed with all his knowledge, not a typical bullsiht ss class, he gives you the real side of history

This is undoubtfuly the most helpful teacher I've had. You don't just learn dates, you learn to think, which is unusual for a history class. Don't take his class because it will be harder for me to retake him. haha...

the class was great. it would have been easier if i could see past his "colorful" taste in cloathes, but still the best history teacher ever.

He is a great instructor in general and teaches many life lessons besides the history lessons. He has a open mind about concepts of history and gives a different aspect to help students understand history on a more basic level.

Take this man. Amazing teacher, His dress is weird, but its full of so much knowledge, dont challenge him in air hockey, likes to teach, wants to help and gives great, humorus lecture.

ive learned more from him in one semester than i have in the rest of my life from anyone else. not just about history, though i learned enough about history to want to change career goals. my life is better for having known him. he cares about his students and you can go to him about anything.

He is the best history teacher I have ever had. I love how opinionated and liberal he is. He gives his and opinion and invites anyone to debate with him. Very easy to understand and helpful.

Great teacher, before taking class i knew alot about history, however he knows alot of interesting facts that makes class interesting. Tests aren't bad, if you pay attention in class you should do fine. TIP: Talk about football with him, He's a huge Steelers fan

DO NOT TAKE ss 120. Lectures are kinda of fun easy to pay attention to, but his tests are so hard it is almost impossible to get an A. I just barely sneaked by in this class. Do not take him, he's mean outside of class. If you are already stuck be sure to have him proofread your paper before its due, that's you're only chance of success!

GO TO EVERY CLASS. His lectures are like story time, but you have to take notes to do well on his tests. Tests are a little hard but he works with you.

He is the man. He makes class and history interesting and is always open to talk about it. One cool this is he is open for debate on how you see history and how he see's it. Take him if you can for every class that he teaches, you wont regret it!

Great professor. Lecture are like a story, and he tells it well. Very knowledgeable on the topics, and has an entertaining way of presenting them. Go over the review sheets and if you cant remember something, ask him in his office before the test. Let him review your essay before too. He's not mean like another rater said, he's a fairly cool guy.

Best teacher I've ever had the pleasure of taking. The only class I ever looked forward to. Really easy going guy. If you participate and show interest with a bit of effort you can easily get an a, but more importantly you will actually learn something about yourself the world around you. I feel like I am a better person for having taken his class.

Like the student before me said, I really looked forward to this class because of Dorn. He's one of the best professors I've ever had. He's very fair and laid back and really knows his stuff. His lectures really help the knowledge stick with you. Take Dorn if you can, great teacher.

Dorm is the man, I took him for two years straight.. He makes the info very intriguing, responds well to questions, and I'd superbly knowledgeable on most any subject. I wish he taught a course on the modern world conflicts. I wish he could find replacements for hisnhighky inferior colleagues.

Dr. Dorn is a boss. The one professor that I always looked forward to going to his class. Extremely knowledgeable and encourages class participation/debates/exchange of ideas. He is always willing to go out of his way to help out his students. TAKE NOTES!!! If you don't take notes, you're screwed. All of his exams are based on his class notes.

Took Dorn for SS120 and SS340. Come to class and take notes, and you should have no problem getting an easy A. Best professor I have ever had. Funny, and cares for his students. I'm trying to find a way to take him one more time before I leave ERAU. In short: take a class with Dorn if you want a fun class in which you will learn a lot.

His class and lectures are very political orientated, he likes to add in his own view on everything. If you have opposing views don't bother arguing cause its not worth it, he's a thickheaded know it all. BUT he teaches a great class and I enjoyed it and learned a lot. Would take again in a heartbeat

His off topic rants helped me remember material. Unlike the majority of the students in my class, I went into the class with no prior knowledge of the subject and by the end, I found myself having passionate and opinionated conversations with outside people about topics discussed in class. This was the first time I enjoyed writing a 12 paged paper.

Show up and pass. He gives amazing lectures and is willing to explain in depth how an event went. IF you haven't taken his classes, you will be enriched in what you learn form this guy. I know I was.

He is a great professor. His classes are really good and keeps you entertained. His tests will be hard if you don't study a lot but he will help you out if you need it. He does a short review before each test and will answer your questions. He gives weekly quizes from readings in the textbook and there is a final paper based off of a novel.

Amazing professor. Take him and you will not regret it. Great guy. Very knowledgeable and he loves it when students challenge him and express different views. Easily one of the best professors at ERAU.

Dorn's lectures are fantastic (probably some of the best I've ever had). I learn a ton and he makes it interesting, asking the class their opinions on the topic throughout the lecture. He helps you get in the minds of the people in the situations we learn about. Take Dorn! I can't stress this enough!

Dr. Dorn is a complete genius! He is extremely smart and knowledgeable, very funny, and cares a lot about his students. Attendance is mandatory and you won't pass if you never show up. As long as you take notes and write down important events and names you will get an A in his class. There really isn't any homework other than short, online quizzes.

One of my favorite professors here at Riddle. He makes the topics enjoyable. Test are easy, but you have to pay attention. His slides don't have any information so you really have to sit there and write down notes. There are only a few quizzes, but they are writing quizzes. Highly recommend.

I never liked US History but Dorn really made this class super interesting. He doesn't just read off a powerpoint, he knows exactly what it is he is teaching. He always makes it interesting either with video or pictures or side stories. His class is easy if you study, listen, and read.

Prof. Dorn does a lot of lectures but they're very entertaining and sometimes funny. His grading criteria is the simplest you will ever have from a professor. Get the books if you want an A in the class! The tests aren't too difficult as long as you pay attention to class.

He is a FUNNY professor! Would walk into class to Florida Man of the day. He goes in depth on all the topics. Really knows his stuff. If you pay attention in class and look at the slides you'll get an easy A

Best history class Ive ever taken, made taking summer classes not a compete drag. Awesome guy, very knowledgeable, really shows you how to look at the past from the correct angles.

Dude is hilarious. Really knows his sh*t too, but he certainly doesn't flaunt it.

On the first day of class, Dorn walked in in an all black suit and just started swearing. Later he said that this was meant to intimidate us lol. After that day, I knew that the semester would be interesting. The papers were tough but I genuinely feel that I got something out of his class, which is more than can be said for most ERAU classes.

Finally, an unbiased, funny, hip, super smart, legit history and foreign policy professor. This dude comes to class in t shirts and flip flops and will teach you everything you wanted to know and everything you didn't even know you wanted to know about history and foreign policy. Papers are tough, take good and accurate notes, and READ THE BOOK.

Very entertaining lectures, good class to have first in the morning. Class is easy with relatively simple assignments once a week. Tests are not stressful.

Prof. Dorn is amazing at teaching US History- or any history for that matter. Going to his lectures is as entertaining as watching CNN morning news in modern times. Honestly he teaches the topics like its just a big story. He also may or may not bring up controversial topics in a funny way. Extremely/Highly recommend Dorn!!

Professor Dorn is probably going to go down as one of my favorite professors here at Riddle. He gives excellent feedback to his students regarding homework assignments and he is very flexible when it comes to due dates. If you have any questions regarding anything is his course he will gladly answer. On top of that he throws in jokes here and there

Dr. Dorn is a national treasure. He cares about the students and the coursework is interesting and insightful. I loved coming into his class every single day. His tests are based off his lectures so take good notes and pay attention to some of his great and hilarious stories. A must take for GCS majors and if you need SS credit.

Literally considered staying another semester just to take more of Prof. Dorn's classes. Amazing teacher, lectures are hilarious and he knows what he's talking about. Had to read two books, do two papers, and the usual tests on top of that but the lectures made it all worth it. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't take one of his classes

Made learning history so fun! He was enthusiastic in his lectures and told funny stories and was willing to give feedback on assignments if needed. The class itself is a bit heavy in reading material, so carve out some time to read (usually) boring textbook sections, and take good notes on the lectures. Do both these things and you're good.

Professor Dorn is a great guy, really knows his stuff, and entertaining. His teaching style may not be for everyone. Lectures are basically class discussions and there isn't much on his slides so you have to know what to write down. There was a good amount of reading along with 2 papers. Your grade is only based on the papers and exams.

Very funny professor, very enjoyable class. You're going to learn a lot about history and have the time of your life while doing it. Taking notes will help you. Hosts exam reviews where you can ask him questions and he will tell you if it's on the exam. I made quizlets and asked him questions directly from the quizlet, which helped review.

Great professor who is very knowledgeable about the topics he teaches. The final paper can be a bit heavy so make sure to start it early. Exams are easy just remember the slides

He is really funny, and sometimes he will go on a crazy rant that has nothing to do with class but it is entertaining. If you miss a lecture, don't worry too much because he posts all of his readings and his slides on Canvas. His tests are not hard if you study, and he is a fair grader.

Dorn is a fun lecturer, lectures are a conversation so be prepared to speak in class or you'll have to do discussion posts on your own time. When speaking about certain topics he has a bit of a political bias but he doesn't try to convince you to change your mind or make you feel bad for disagreeing with him.

Dorn teaches history in a way that no other history teacher does. He forces you to do the thinking yourself which really deepened my understanding of the topics. It is clear that he is passionate about what he does and if this wasn't an elective for my AE major I would be so happy to take him again.
