He is cool guy, but his class is extremely difficult. If you have no knowledge of molecular biology before taking his class, you can not understand his lecture. He also has approximately 70 ppt slides for each chapter, and you better off reading the text book.
Good professor!! The material is not easy, but the professor helps out!!
This is one of the worst professor i have ever had in my entire life. He does not know how to explain the topic at all. I get so scared asking him a question in class because he will ramble on and on and eventually lose his train of tought. He talks about his girlfriend in class a lot. Who cares about who you date, i just want to learn Anatomy.
He was a very nice professor. He talked a lot to try & get his points across and recognized whenever he made a mistake. He incorprorates marine bio a lot in his lectures & talks about his gf. (they should just get married, its obvious to us he cares)I am terrible at science and managed to get an A. Its all about the amount of effort you put in.
He is interesting. Slides make test easy. And expensive textbook is not necessary for the test. you can buy an old version.
He's a great teacher ,, the best biology teacher ive had thus far, i just took notes off of his blackboard notes. study his notes and take some in class notes you'll get a A or B ,, loaf and don't study and you'll get a C or D.. mind you im someone who has never taken micro b4 his class and i got a B so hey,, how bad do you want it?
Dr Gebler is a very interesting teacher. He explains the material very well and encourage his students to come with questions. He provides slides on black board and it was very useful to me. Oh he Loves his fiancé christi.. He talks about her a lot .
Dr Gebler is a great professor. I took him in the summer got an A. i really had to work hard for it tho. He allows you to write your own questions to ask and stays as long as it takes. I really learned alot, had to go get a drink after the course was over.(lol) Overall I believe he is the best Micro professor hands down
his test are never found in the text book and he would have read like 12 chapters for a quiz of ten points.
Dr. Gebler is easy to understand as long as you do your part in reading the material. Study his slides and do a little side reading in the book and you will do great in his class. He does get off topic at times. Overall great professor. Expect a high B or A if you apply yourself.
Very good lecturer and has his student's interest at heart. The course work is tough but when you study his slides well then you have a greater chance in doing great in his class.
Gebler is the best for both 2050 and 2060, I only had him for 2050 but all you needed to do was study his notes and you'll be fine. He doesn't try to tick you or anything, whatever are in his notes are fair game for the exams and lab practicals. Advice: Study his notes!!!
He is a good professor. However do not take in summer unless you already know the subject. Pay attention when he discusses anything w/steps in it you will be texted on it. Find some type of study guide online he does not provide one. Study his notes but you must find other resources to clarify. All and all he is a solid instructor.
Greatest professor I have ever had. First time in my life I did so well in any subject and it hapoened to be the hardest course ever. I might just travel a few extra miles just for part two because I settle for an idiot teacher by the name of Michelle Klein. Gebler is fantastic makes us engage ourselves. Everything on his exams he has said before.
Professor Gebler is great. He's a heckuva talker, but interesting and informative. Very helpful. Appealing too.
The WORST professor ever. His lab/lecture practicals are ridiculously hard. He makes things more difficult than what they need to be. I studied my ass off , and I was completely lost and confused ass hell the entire time . DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
I would recommend this professor to anyone. He's very helpful and encouraging. Doing YOUR part is a requirement to pass this class; an 'A' won't fall into your lap. Follow his guidelines and powerpoints. Making flashcards are also essential in this course, they will help you out a lot! Stay focused and don't be afraid to ask questions.
A&P is not an easy subject. You need to work and work. He is a great teacher. He knows his materials well. If you think you will pass with out working hard than u are mistaken. I wish he is not married.
One of my favorite biology professors! I love him him so much, he is so funny! The class is not easy, so make sure you study!
He makes his exam questions unnecessarily difficult. lecture Exam questions are confusing out 2 minutes to read one question, he talked about his professors making it hard for him to get his MasterPHD, so he thinks he has to make it hard for every student. He is always talking about his wife. absolutely no review for lecture exam. its your choice
talk too much about irrelevant things, like his wife, and family. don't follow his lab handout if you have lab workbook follow that instead, his lab handout are too long with materials that you don't need to learn, He brags about being head of staff and they let him do anything in his department. basically student have no say, he sets his exam ques
Get ready to read, but hard to pass his exams despite your reading. because his questions are difficult, do not mess with this one. talks too much about irrelevant things in class.
confusing with lectures, strict with grades
if you have never had a C of Fail in your program Gebler would make you have on, be warned. He is very strict and mean with grades and exam. lectures re sometimes confusing, he goes off point most of he time.
be prepared study your tail off, with a c or d
Professor doesn't focus on the power point , he's gone off to something else that's not related to lecture. He and his wife having their first child. He spend a half an hour on wife every lecture and ten minutes in lab. I know he's happy but give it a break. I'm not their for that.
it wasn't too bad outside of the fact that he talks constantly about his wife and baby on the way. also this guy is a bit of a show off. I hate when a professor continuously talk about the fact that they have theirs you need to get yours. duhhhhhh thats why Im here to get mine. the test are not anything that your told to study. hard for no reason
Bad Professor, Spends most-of lecture times talking about family, and brags allot. his exam question are difficult for just no-course.
Like everything worth having in life you have to work. I took him for Micro (B-) and A&PI (A+). You have to get used to his teaching style. I started the semester off failing w a D but i asked a ton ?'s, went to his free study days & pulled up my grade to passing. No need for a book. Everything he says and talks about will be on exam no surprises.
He's a good professor but you have to put a lot of effort into this class to have an A. I wouldn't mind taking his class. Big family man so he uses his son and wife as reference to a lot of examples but that's cool though.
He spends most of his time on irrelevant topics rather than trying to help students understand the class.
I can only speak of my experience of him as my tutor for fall semester of 2015 and he was FANTASTIC. Biology is my weakest subject and thanks to him!!! I received a proud "B" due to all his help and efforts in helping me understand the material. Thank YOU Dr. Gebler. A very intellectual man and encouraging too.
Lab's are interactive and fun, lectures can be entertaining if you have the attention span for it. He makes class engaging.
He's a cool guy and actually teaches, although he does go to irrelevant topics sometimes. You need to work hard to get an A, and be sure to pay attention in class and to study guides.
Mr. Gebler is a real great teacher if you do your part. I took him for A&P I and as of right now I only need a 57 on my next test to get an A in the class. His grades are all tests, which can be good or bad, but he gives out study guides for lecture exams and goes over them in class. He's also very lenient and interactive in terms of learning labs
If you take this class I advice you to be prepare to read and study everyday. His tests are very difficult they are write a response questions more then there are multiple choice, so if you know that you are not a good test taker be prepare for that.
First things first, the lab manual and his study guides are your best friend if you want an A. No doubt about it. Secondly, he gives lots of extra credit and tries to explain everything in a reasonable manner and then allows use to use the models to study. Work outside of class is crucial to keep an A. Open labs and library also great resources.
Goes off track a lot but he's a good teacher. There are 8 tests, 4 Lab tests and 4 lecture tests. The lab tests are mainly a lot of anatomy definitions and locations, so I wouldn't take this class if you have a bad memory. Record his lectures and go over them to study for the Lecture tests b/c if it's on the test, he's mentioned it at least once.
Tough class to be in, but if you're like me that don't mind putting a bot of extra time in reading, you'll do ok. make sure you attempt the Pgcc online questions for the lab aspect, and always use his study guides. I got an A in this class
I THINK HE IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD. I KNOW EVERYONE THINKS THAT HIS CLASS WAS HARD, BUT I THINK IF YOU JUST LISTEN TO HIS LECTURE AND STUDY YOU WILL PASS IT. MY SUGGESTION: WATCH A&P VIDS, TO GET FAMILIAR WITH THE TERMS BEFORE THE CLASS. THE KEY IN ANATOMY IS UNDERSTANDING THE FUNCTION OF THE ORGAN AND HOW IT WORKS WITH OTHER ORGANS
Professor Gebler loves to tell stories and share about his life. He is a fun professor, but he often gets off task. If you can handle that, then he is the professor for you.
Professor Gebler is a cool professor but gets off track easily. He doesn't go in depth when he is teaching, it is better to look for outside resources so that you can pass the class. Focus on the book so that you can do well in this class.
If you seriously wanna learn about your patient get him. He is a challenge for people who do not study and just plan to kill patient by copying their way up to nursing or any healthcare field. Success always requires effort. Spoon feeding has no room here. I busted my @#$ to get a good grade here. He gives a lot of extra points at the end. Relax!
Tough for those who loves copying. Here's how to beat him:record him, attend his class & take note, print lab photos minus the labels especially the tissues for practice, free tutor, team up, index card is a must. If you follow this technique you'll be successful here. Don't be a PETTY BETTY ended up being his critique because of their own doings.
My score was 60% to 70-80% I thought I will fail but the extra credit at the end helped his students a lot. Summer class is not for me because I do not study when I am in rush.
TRY TO ANSWER THE STUDY GUIDE IT WILL BOOST YOUR SCORE. HE IS TOUGH IF YOU DON'T TAKE NOTE EVERYTHING HE SAYS. HIS EXAMS ARE PRETTY MUCH WHAT EVERYTHING HE SAYS IN THE CLASS AND THE STUDY GUIDE.
Only uses his powerpoints but you should go to class to hear the extra information that's not outlined in the powepoint. You will definitely see it on the test. We covered lots of material in a short period of time. Be prepared to teach yourself at home as well.
I have never had a professor as great. The class is tough, but he actually cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He teaches you everything you need to know. Every class I have ever taken with him I have gotten A's. He takes something so difficult and makes it really easy through clear explanation. He is simply the best!
I took his Anatomy class and I don't like his teaching style. He uses his powerpoints for lecture, but majority of the extra information he says in class is tested and not at all in the powerpoints. He goes on tangents often about his family and his youth and that is annoying. I finished the class with a B, but the way he teaches is just BAD.
BEWARE!!!!! NEVER take this professor. He is the WORST professor I have ever taken! Reads his crazy long power points and hands you containers of bones and you have to figure it out on your own. He lectures on stuff that is NOT on the exams. Everybody is dropping him and he seems not to care. He definitely does NOT care for his students!
He likes to go off topic, i'm really there to learn the material not his personal life. He's a nice guy but his teaching style is not the greatest! you pretty much learn everything on your own. Recording him is essential. Does not respond to emails! His best lectures are before quiz day so never miss those! Did not give extra credit!
this guy is the worst if you want to pass dont take him he reads his powerpoint straight of the board like a robot so when his teaching your not really understanding the material you have to learn it by yourself you have to study your notes and read the book alot like everyday to pass his class BEWAREEEEE
His lectures are fun, he shares his personal experience, the lecture exams are scenarios so be ready to know the chapters inside out, i advise that you should voice record each class and lab, the lab is only easy if you record it, read his slides and make sure you USE THE LAB MANUAL, very important, practice and test urself continuously. U'll pass
Honestly, you need to put in a lot of effort and hard work. NO EFFORT NO PASS. Try your best and go to tutoring. a study group is a must in this class. BE READY TO READ.
An amazing professor who would find ways to explain the content in various different ways to cater every student, so that nobody is left behind. I was truly grateful, for his methods of teaching and being hilarious which is calming.
Taking his classes were the most amazing thing i did because it was the foundation to a rough nursing program. He is the one who made me realize that I had to read to get where I needed, because believe me, nursing program at PG is not a joke and you need a good foundation. Thank you DR G.
Prof. G is an amazing teacher, his lectures and labs are interesting however you will need a lot of study hours in other to get a good grade. He is willing to help you but that depends on how willing and serious you are. You have to read in between lines to understand and answer any question he sets, also he gives extra credit when needed.
Professor Gebler is one of the worst professors I have ever had. His answer key is wrong, his exam questions doesn't tie with his powerpoints. He will mark most of your right answers wrong. He teaches something else and brings something else in the exams. He becomes arrogant and rude when a student tries to correct his mistakes. DON'T TAKE HIM !!!
This class is already difficult but with this pandemic it's forced to be taken online making it 100x more difficult. Professor is inconsistent, and hard to get in contact with. Quizzes after each chapter but he doesn't give a fair amount of time, sometimes he gives 10 min or 15 min for 10 questions. I wouldn't recommend. But if confident go for it
I don't know if there are better professors for BIO 2010 but don't you ever take Glenn Gebler . He's the worse professor I have ever taken. His teaching is terrible, his questions are horrible. He's not a good teacher.
This is the worst class i have ever taken Microbiology 2010-Ld03. He will teach you but all what he talked ebout in class wont be in the exams. The class is awful, the professor really jeopardized my cumulative gpa for transferring, having this kind of grade will make me have extra year in PGCC. Pls dont take gebler if u need to pass microbiology.
Glenn Gebler is a pretty good professor, however, his class is really difficult to pass. I think it is just the overall material that is difficult but he tries to explain it to the best of his abilities. He is really nice and gives a lot of extra credit which helps boost your grade a lot.
Ok, so Dr. G seems to be a great person. (Outside of being a professor) He is downright hilarious. (I'm a fan of dad jokes)Also, he is extremely brilliant. However, he is inconsistent with keeping his word and terrible with communication. He wears many hats at the college and they are wearing him pretty thin. His focus is his wife and two children.
Professor Gebler is one of the best professors I have had at PGCC. At first, I was hesitant to take his class because of the bad reviews but I gave him a chance and I don't regret it. He is very understanding and cares a lot about his students. His lectures were great and not boring! He made microbiology a fun subject to learn.
Where do I began? I'm not sure where everyone else went wrong but Dr. G is great! He is both understanding and considerate. He is literally genius. He can break down pretty much any information down to its bare bones. (And he's willing to) He appreciates respect and participation and is by no means an "easy" professor. Be ready to learn and laugh.
AS all the reviews that say he was a bad professor...... Not true. yes the professor has heavy tests but he does answer emails when you have questions which will help a lot. At first I was scared to take this professor, but with virtual learning he took the time to explain everything so students could understand. Am so thankful for the extra credit
First, let me say this man is very knowledgeable; he knows his stuff. His drawback is he teaches too fast. Micro can be fun and challenging, but he also adds another level of difficulty because he is too worried about cheating students. It is so sad and annoying. I started this class with really liking micro I ended with really hating this course.
very nice, gives lots of extra credit points
If you need a decent grade DO NOT take him! His tests do not reflect what he went over in lecture. Lectures are very boring and he reads from each slide verbatim and often goes off topic or stops lecture to yell at his kids.He is a UMD alum and my guess is that he didn't get a job as a professor there so he takes it out on the students at PGCC.
A lockdown browser and Web camera are requirements for his class if you are taking it remotely. His textbook is online and attendance for the first two weeks at least is required.
Dr. G. Is AWESOME! Yes, micro is A LOT OF WORK! However, Professor Gebler gives students a lot of tools and his lectures are always fun and interesting. He is willing to meet with you to help with concepts you don't know. Give him a chance. I think some of the negative ratings didn't participate or expected to breeze through with minimal work.
Professor Glenn Gebler provided the most amazing Microbiology teachings and experience throughout the summer semester. Each lesson and section was taught so well and clearly. I am really thankful for taking Microbiology with Professor Gebler. Also, Professor Gebler was so helpful and supportive with us, and we learned so much of Microbiology.
This course requires commitment and diligent study. The professor made my efforts of commitment and study all the more fruitful by providing clear communication of content and guidelines on how to successfully study. I learned a lot of valuable information well and had a great time learning it. Thank you so much!
Dr.G is amazing! I am glad that I took him for Microbiology this summer (5 week). He is a gr8 professor and cares about our success and learning the material. He gave us analogies to help us understand and always gave plenty of EC. There was a lot of material, however it was all relevant information. I would love to be in his class again. Take him!
I learned a lot in this courses. Professor Gebler loves microbiology and it shows! He uses a lot of every day situations to explain concepts. No science instructor is an easy A. But Dr. G. gives lots of time and tools. He is laid back and respectful. I would not hesitate to take him again.
I love Dr. Gebler's lectures are outstanding. He gives you tools others don't have. His micro class helped me get into and do better in my nursing program. Most of what Dr. G. taught us in micro was in pathophysiology (nursing school class). Don't listen to the complainers. They wanted something for nothing. Study and you will be glad you took him!
he was recommended to me from two of my good friends im glad I took his class I wish I would've took his advice in the lectures about learning the material I would've gotten a better score! thankful for him working with us on learning the material and understanding it
I took him for Microbiology, structured remote. Very generous and easy going. A lot of emphasis on weekly assignments so exams were important not extremely stressful. He was understanding and made me want to learn about micro. Highly recommend.
He's the best!! Lectures are really heavy with info and exams are hard but he tries to explain everything in a way that helps you understand better. He was recommended by a friend and I don't regret taking him at all. Do well on HWs and quizzes and you'll pass
Cool teacher. Will give you all the information you need and then some. You gotta take notes and be attentive because its a lot of info.
So much work in such little time! and he barely communicates I send emails and never get replies. Assignments were always due at 8pm and tests at 10pm for absolutely no reason at all.
Take his class. He is a good professor and he cares, admitted the material can be a lot but he give clear requirements as to what he wants done. He replies emails sent via outlook not canvas. The mix unknown assignment is not hard just make use of chap14-17. And he gives extra credit.
His assignments are due at random times; some are due at 5 PM, others at 6 PM, 8 PM, or even 10 PM. They can be due on any day of the week, which makes it very disorganized. The teacher makes it difficult for students to create or maintain a schedule for assignments. He is a terrible teacher who doesn't care about his students' progress.
-This professor talks a lot never have enough time to actually complete class work. Don't ask questions to make sure you fully understand and he does not answer emails. Doesn't present the information that's needed to pass the class.
He's very kind! This is an online course, so I expect things to be easier, but I would take this class in person. He doesn't respond to emails, and the office hours are just a free-for-all all. Prepare to figure things out on your own because he will not be there to help or support you. Watch the lectures and review the PowerPoint.
He was a friendly, kind, and involved teacher. He often related the lesson to his daily life, giving half of the class time to talk about his personal life, or political views. The only reason why I wouldn't take his class again is because more than half of what the exam would be asking wouldn't be on the student guide he provided to us.
Professor Gebler is so kind. Although, his class, not so much. The study guides and other resources he provides do not help you perform well on the exams. The lab quizzes are take home, fairly easy. At the end of the semester, he drops the 4 lowest quiz scores and provided a lot of extra credit. Lectures are boring, often personal. Not recommended.
Professor Gebler was one of the most passionate instructors this semester. He knew a lot about the given subject. However, he often incorporated his family and political issues into lectures. Additionally, his exams require deep knowledge of all the slides, and the study guides WERE NOT helpful. He's caring but not someone I'd take again.
Professor Gebler is amazing; he cares a lot about his students be successful. I took Micro 2010 online class in Falls 2024. Even though it was online he meets every Tuesday and Thursday via zoom to answer questions and explained details of the course materials. He gives extra credit; very conscientious grader; do all assign given. 100% the best.
DONT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!! save yourself he is so mean and won't help if you have questions. gets smart if you ask for help. always rude to his students and the grading makes no sense.
useless whenever you ask for help, has a rude attitude when teaching and shows it especially if you ask for help, spends most of the time yapping about everything but the materials he needs to teach which made me start losing interest the more I stayed in his lecture when he'd do everything but teach and waste my time, literally insufferable
This professor shows that he cares, but the material is so much and microbiology is a heavy course. I would not recommend taking it with him just because his presentations are very hard to understand. Lecture is a struggle, but lab is fine. I would recommend taking it with a different professor who is more put together overall he's not bad.
Microbiology is a heavy course, so get ready to read and study a lot but taking it with Dr.Gebler you will be lost. A lot of the time presentations are hard to read. He does give extra credit lecture exams are very hard. He does have two practical, and you have to memorize a lot of content. This class is all about memorization get ready to study.
He's just horrible; he talks more about his family than the lecture notes. He's so passive-aggressive and doesn't like it when you go into debt by asking questions. He doesn't update the study guide, which I find very alarming, because what is the point of a study guide if nothing from the exams comes from it?
RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN , he does not care about his students. He makes things so complicated. His exams are not based off of his slides, only his first exam and even that was hard. He does not cater his class to a summer course. He is bipolar and gets upset easily if you ask too many questions. DON NOT TAKE HIM I WARNED YOU.
I gave this professor a chance despite his reviews and he proved those reviews RIGHT. I have cried multiple times for this course. He also claims he is better than his other professors meaning all of them combined are just bad, especially if he was the standard. Before you take any of his exams, may sure you pray and fast.
Microbiology is a TOUGH class in general. His lectures are hard to understand and INFO HEAVY. Labs are chill but still a lot of info. His study guides aren't that helpful but he DOES give some spoilers on what's in the exam every now and then. He tends to incorporate politics and family matters in class which takes class time.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! He told us that the study guide HE made will not help us with the exam and he refused to update it for us. We were forced to study every single powerpoint which had nothing to do with the exam. He spends most of his class time talking about his family and gets upset when you ask him a question related to the class. RUN!
Dr. Glenn is not the problem, microbiology is generally a very tough course and I took it during sum2025. I have never been so stretched in a while like in this class. So do not take microbiology as an accelerated course. I had an A by reading the slides atleast 3times before an exam. You will also need to pray that your mixunknown comes up.
If you take this class, be prepared to teach yourself for lecture. He teaches lab well and gives many tools for success. However, he goes on tangents in lecture, sometimes rushing through concepts. He is unreachable outside of class and there are often mistakes/misinformation on his slides and quizzes so double check the info yourself.
I got a D in this due to my poor effort. This man is so kind!! When I was sick and missed the week leading up to an exam, he exempted me from our exam. If I had trouble at home, he would give me homework extensions. He was so sweet, easy to work with, and very engaging. His lectures could be a little unclear at times, but easy to catch up on.
