He reads straight from the power points and doesn't actually teach, offers extra credit for completing the lecture objectives (4 pts) each. Be prepared to study & learn on your own. Tests aren't easy, Toward the end things were mashed together, we were starting the lecture of next unit before taking the exam from the prior unit. NO office hours!
good prof
He is a younger professor but he cares about his students. He is very intelligent and will help you out but you do need to ask him for it. Overall i would take his class every time.
He's does not break his material down enough for clarification.
Anatomy and physiology is a hard class and the teacher was able to breakdown material to where I was able to understand. Most students think this is an easy course of a&p, but you have to put in the work. Although teacher may seem challenging, he is encouraging and wants his students to succeed. Would take a class with this teacher again.
Study guide will not prepare you. Run though lecture as of is a race. First time teaching BIO181, have no accreditials. Not a doctor, RN, PA...
He will read directly from the textbook provided PowerPoint the entire class- all 6.5 hrs a week. I could do that at home- but wait, if you leave his class early youre marked as absent. This is a night class so listening to his monotone voice after working a nine hour day is torture. Its only week 6 and majority of us want out.
Great Instructor. Lectures are detailed and elaborates further explaining in more detail for us to grasp the information. I happen to like his lectures, but most students taking the course havent gotten a clue of whats going on. Questions he asks usually go unanswered which dictates how much we cover in class. Hes detailed and cares.
Taking his class now. Like most A&P courses, a lot of information. I really enjoy is class and his experiences with school and work. Cant believe he went back for nursing school. Knows a ton of information about the body. Overall, great professor.
The professor's expectations are minimal. No homework. He encourages students to bring the best out of them. He has also encouraged me to go to nursing school, which I am considering. Do well on his exams and lab practicals. Attendance is important and frankly I do not understand why you would not show up for A&P.
I recommend taking Mr Kuzel for anatomy physiology. Great experience taking his courses.
If you can take simple directions and do what the professor expects then you should have no problem with this professor. Expects a lot out of his students but prepares you for higher level education.
Prepare yourself before class and you will find success in professor Kuzels course. Expect to utilize most of the class time and expect to make plenty of time dedicated outside the class. What you put in is what you get.
Great professor. He teaches and is finishing up his nursing degree. Dedicated!
He is so inconsistent! He likes to use exams that are not directly connected to the book making it extremely difficult to prepare for his exams. The highest grade on our last test was an 80% with a class average of 55%
Professor is challenging, coaches you through it. He wants you to learn and critically think AP. He provides you a road map through AP and how to take it to the next level. He provided extra credit at the end of the semester that helped. I recommend this professor.
He is inconsistent with his expectations. He will take any chance to talk down to the entire class. If the average exam is a 55%, maybe the issue is you. Majority of students in this class were upset and frustrated with his style (or lack thereof) of teaching. Read the reviews on here carefully, SOMEONE is clearly skewing them.
I took his Saturday class that was once a week. Tough but he helped us get through it.
Awesome! Take him if you are taking A and P.
Awesome instructor! He averaged our 3 best lab exam scores and replaces our lowest. He gives pop quizzes but the two given were from kahoot and gave us full points for participation. Lab and review points are given based on attendance and participation and gives extra credit for 25 pts. STUDY for his exams esp. the last exam.
He will make you earn it and will be more satisfying than taking a professor that hands out As or Bs.
Definitely not an easy professor. DO NOT take his class if you want an easy A. If you are going for nursing - great choice; other majors - not so much. He doesn't help at all during class lab and expects you to know everything for the practicals. A lot of independent work. Exams are hard and tricky. Expect random assignments/schedule changes.
Great teacher to prepare you for higher level education. Expect to work hard for his class considering you need it for your next endeavor. This is not a class to blow off if you plan move on. He will help you through it and he knows what the next level expects. I recommend taking this Prof.
He expects a lot from his students, glides through the chapters and expects the class to have background about every topic he presents. Not an easy A class, be ready to put in effort.
This professor is awful, and I 100% do not recommend. He will definitely make you work for an A grade. He glides through chapters and expects the students to have a background on everything that is taught. He does not offer extra credit and refuses to let you make up tests or quizzes. Worst teacher ever.
Had prof. Kuzel for bio 181. Great professor to have for anatomy and physiology, esp. for nurses. He is even a nurse himself and does a great job of breaking the material down and how to apply it according to nursing. Also, shows how to answer critically and how to rationally think. Helps students connect the dots! Take him.
Goes through lectures very quickly. Doesn't make the material easy to understand by his choices of words. Expects students to understand the material before hand. Does not let you retake exams and does not let you turn in late labs regardless of any personal issues you had. I had to drop. Not an easy class for me and will not take again.
Absolute worst professor ever. Definitely dont recommend him unless youre willing to dedicate every minute of your free time to studying for this class. He doesnt explain anything and expects his students to have the same amount of background information as he does. DO NOT TAKE
Had the pleasure of taking Mr. Kuzels class. Great teacher, despite what others say. Seems to be the ones who do not want to put in the work, and expect an easy grade are the ones who rate this prof. poorly. Do not taking him if you are hoping, rather rake him if you plan to grow in your education. He challenges you and makes you think.
Great instructor to have for Anatomy and physiology.
Wonderful instructor!
Follow his syllabus and rules, study your ass off and care about his class. He will help you put it all together.
So what you are expected to do and you will have no problem.
horrible professor
I dont know how you can call this professor horrible when He doesnt have homework, lab points are given to those who show and put the work in, and is willing to help well outside of his time. Sounds like it was a lack of work and preparedness on your behalf. Welcome to College, in being responsible. Score well on his tests and lab practicals.
If you take you education serious, take this prof! It will change you.
I had this prof one day for bio 181 that he was subbing and wish he was teaching the course. He explained topics so much better than my prof. And was able to apply it to nursing.
Great teacher to have. Prepares you well for higher learning, esp nursing.
Had the privilege of having this prof. Take him!
If you take Kuzel, goodluck. He is a great guy and all but he makes the material harder than it should be.
After the withdrawal date, there were only about 10 students left in this class. Kuzel wasn't all that bad but I would never take him again and probably would't recommend.
Amazing! Took him and although hard and challenging he basically give you points for labs if completed, averages exams to replace the worse, which helped, and a kahoot quiz that was given full points for participation. Not a problem. Piece a cake! Best professor ever.
Awesome class! If his course doesn t get filled take him asap. You will not regret it. Do not bother if you plan to just get by or expect an easy A. This teacher knows his material and will take the time in class to help you understand. NO HOMEWORK! But do really good on his exams.
Honestly, hated MVCC. The students there are not prepared and are so immature which I am sure are the type of students that are giving him bad reviews. Iam at a university now and is way more challenging. I am very thankful to have him and he helped me pace the way for my education. Dont go to college if you couldnt hack it.
Easy A if you study is tests. No homework at all.
Great teacher! Finishing my nursing program to which I am thankful for Mr Kuzels encouragement to go this route.
Awesome teacher, but the students are pain. All they want is an easy grade and expect a teacher to bend over for them. This prof doesnt take crap from them. Very hard to go through classes when you have those distractions. Good thing most of them drop. Well except for the idiot posted that didnt. Should have seen the date!
Take him if you get the chance. Do not take his class as a joke. Seriously, score good on his exams. Not a problem.
Not the easiest class, but so are all science courses. I had to retake Bio 180 from not passing the course the first time. Retook the class with Mr. Kuzel, was way better. Enjoyed his class.
In my experience with this professor, I enjoyed his class. Yeah he is hard, but he does test of what is expected from you and I believe the exams are written by the department. All he does is prepare. However, I appreciate this Instructor's approach to the material and does a great job teaching the class. It is only way harder in higher levels.
Overall, not a bad class. Teacher was great and will be moving on to my next chapter in nursing.
This teacher is the reason why I got into biology. Wish I took his general bio course. Took his Anatomy and physiology class and was the best class I took.
Solid class. Does a great job explaining material to non science students, including myself. Really helps having a professor that cares and understands students.
Hes a great professor; however, you have to work hard in his class in order to succeed.
He's the worst professor I have ever had! He moves quickly through PowerPoint slides (even skips slides) then expects you to understand it. He makes this class way more difficult then it needs to be. A majority of students in the class withdrawed. I recommend to NOT take him at all! You will have to end up teaching yourself the entire semester.
Great teacher that knows his stuff. Attendance is strict mandatory , but he allows two absences for whatever reason. Be sure if you miss class to study and catch yourself up. There is a lot covered if missed and do not miss more than what is allowed.
This professor is awesome! Provides great explanation of the course topics. Do not take if you expect to blowoff class or easy Grade. He will make you work for it but will be rewarding.
Great prof to have.
Be sure to take this teacher for ap. Hands down da best!
Does not teach during lab time. More of a on your own class. Starts lab practicals 45 min to and hour late Tries to make himself sound great Tells you not to study something but puts it on the test
Awesome just awesome and down to earth. I struggled in this course with another teacher and took it with him and totally understood the course because of this teacher.
great professor, explains very well, tries to help u pass & answers your questions. this class is very hard w any professor.I took this class for my major but I suck at bio & didnt do well. If you need it take him esp if you are doing nursing bc he gives good info to those students & bc hes a nurse. I would take him if he taught somthing else
Kuzel is the best professor for ap. He prepares his students for the program you are going to. I am in bio181 and he prepared me for it as well. He is not the type that will get annoyed if you ask questions. If anything he loves it. I got a good grade only because i would participate and ask him questions. he will get you out of your comfort zone!
If you don't study you will not pass. He's a great teacher that goes into specifics but take notes and keep up with lectures if you miss. Study, study, study.
He is a great man, but after reading the previous reviews, it is definitely not true (at least for online). He gave unnecessary quizzes and hw (27 paragraphs in total each unit) simultaneously with the lecture exam all due at the same time. Avg was always D-F. We started off with 25 people and half the class withdrew from the course...I wonder why
His exams were ultra difficult (but its ap2)and you should take somebody else because it outweighs the practical (which is easier tbh) by 20pts. In the end not only did we have 27 paragphs due in a week, but also a final quiz (frq), final exam, unit 4 exam, unit 4 practical. It should have been spaced out more evenly. He is kind though, but blunt.
So many essays in one week, I swear this class had more essays than my COM-102 and COM 101 classes combined. Exams are heavy and hard. I had an A in BIO 180 during the summer, but this class was just insane. Honestly, my passion for nursing is shaken from this class. The professor himself is kind but the coursework was just intense.
Hands down the worst teacher I have ever taken. He does not care for his students and gave excessive work on top of the things we already had to study for. He gave us no material to study from besides the lecture videos where you can listen to him read the slides off to you. If I can give him a 0 I would.
I have never had a teacher this terrible in my entire life. Take it from me and save yourself the time and take a teacher that will actually care about your life in and out of school. He did everything on his own time and had Webex meetings on Sundays where we would typically have off. He wont notify or state in the syllabus when HW/tests are due.
Gave us no heads up as to when things are due and never updated the syllabus from years ago. He did not care for the circumstances we are in and gave us exams, quizzes, practicals, and discussions all due at the same time with no announcements. Youre on your own in the class.
Where do I begin?? this Prof literally needs to go back to school! His grammar is worst than a 3 yo child's and it reflected in his exams. As a Samaritan and a future nurse I have no idea how anyone trusted him with his life. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
I expected more from a nurse who should understand these uncertain times. He made the entire class struggle to even pass. Its so sad to see so many kids drop because of the lack of communication he has. If you want to pass take someone else.
Take this professor if you want to learn and not get an easy grade. This professor has experience in nursing and in the classroom. He is not easy and he wont hold your hand in a college course like this class. I found out my problems were not reading the question properly and obviously getting the question wrong. Email him to go over exam.
Awesome teacher to have if you plan to be something in life. Email him for help. He wont babysit you and does not micro manage. I guess unlike high school you have to do things yourself.
After graduating nursing school, never realized why he kept on telling me to work hard. Nursing school doesnt care for easy grades and if it was not for this teacher, I would not have been prepared for nursing. No joke, hardest thing you will ever do. This teacher knows whats needed and expected. All these people trashing, probably flunked!
Phenomenal! High expectations so get his approval means a lot. He sees the bs so dont jack around.
I dont understand how somebody in their right mind gets upset with other opinions. Im sorry you had such a bad experience but maybe if you emailed him, read his announcement or gone on your email. Do actual adult things. There is such thing as a syllabus that clearly states the class. That was all provided in class and he responded fast.
This teacher was tough but no tougher than my other science professors. Anatomy and physiology is a hard class and I am sure this is a class that separates the students from the cans and the cannots. Be sure to dedicate most to this class and contact the professor on your exams for improvement. He wont add assignments to help your grade.
I know this professor is hard but he will work ya till ya get it. I struggled but now understand ap now.
Really tough class and its a LOT of information. Professor Kuzel is a nurse and loves what he does, so he makes a lot of nursing references. It can be really confusing, but he does care about your grade and you personally. Dont think this is a blow off class, but you can pass if you try. Definitely use quizlet/ flash cards, &study the objectives!
He was very rough on grading, gave an unmanagable amount of work, and was nearly impossible to reach outside of class. If you never want ANY free time, take this course.
Took him both for 180 and 181 8-week courses, definitely a hard class as is and fast-paced. Consisted of lab and lecture exams every other week, however, 180 was harder because I did not study efficiently little to no extra credit and there were discussions due every week. I would take his class again because it was quick and thorough
I Took him both 180 and 181 8-week courses, I think 181 was easier once you learn a study method that works for you and doesn't take too much time. I would recommend an 8-week course because of how fast everything is done but you have less time on the material, he is a good professor and cares about your success!
Great class! Fast and done.
Would never take this professor again. He reads the slides off to you and then makes medical references expecting you to know what he is talking about. Yells at students about his workload compared to theirs. Study guides/lecture objectives are overall based, while tests are based on small details of the unit. Cool guy, but not good professor.
He made this class more difficult than it should have been. If you're planning on going into nursing, take him. If you're planning on going into any other health profession, I would avoid him.
Don't blow off this class. Important class for healthcare programs. This professor gets it and is willing go with you every step of the way.
Great professor that will explain the importance of taking anatomy and physiology for pharm, pathophys, and more. He really prepares you to go out and research information and understands the value. It is not easy but I don't know of any AP course that is. Please understand that he is an understanding professor willing to help you.
This class was much harder than it needed to be and I barely retained any info from it
Would definitely recommend take his class. All he did was read off the PowerPoint slides. I did not learn much of anything. I had to teach myself because he rushed through each chapter. If you want to waste your money take him. He was Never available outside of class. Showed favoritism to other students.
