Hands down, the best professor at Western.
Awesome
TAKE GLENN FOR 310. you will thank your lucky stars. i was really freaked out going into it but he is really helpful & understanding. keep up with the work (its really not that hard) and you'll be fine. ask questions. don't buy the books - i read the first 2 chapters and never had to again. he goes over it in class and theres only 2 quizzes.
Tsunokai is a great Professor! Come to class everyday, and take good notes and you should be fine. Do not waste your time with buying a book, tests are directly from lecture slides. These with your notes will help you on the tests. Tsunokai is funny, and knowledgeable. Taking this class will increase your understanding of race related issues.
The best professor I've had at Western so far. The class was so interesting. It is a mix between discussions and lecture. I never wanted to skip and I learned alot about race and ethnic relations.
Great teacher, high interest. I had no interest in the subject but I am loving this class. It is hard because you really have to learn the individual laws and ideas pretty in-depth. The assignments relate course concepts to real-world ideas. Great class, take it if you have a chance.
By far the best prof. i've had at Western so far!! He is extremely helpful, and he really cares about you succeeding!! Also, he offers extra credit which is nice! I would definitally reccomend taking any class from Glen, he's AWESOME!!!
By far the best professor at WWU. He is helpful, friendly, and really seems to care how his students do in his class. Barely anyone skipped his class because it was interesting and fun. He even has a little sense of humor
This is the BEST class that i have ever taken, and Glenn is the best professor I have ever had. Everyone should take this class even if you're not a soc major. It is just useful knowledge for life and will change your world view.
Glenn is an amazing person! He is the reason that I am majoring in sociology, you won't regret taking his classes!
Glenn is am amazing professor and person. He helped me out so much in this class and is willing to write great letters of recommendation. He even remembers your name! Always! Amazing class.
Amazing Prof! Love this class everyone should take it. He will make you want to take more soc classes.
Glenn is a great teacher. Very amiable and engaging. Even if you aren't a Sociology major I recommend taking one of his classes
Glenn is hands down my favorite professor at Western, 369 is my second class with him. He's friendly, flexible and really engages the class. More people at Western need to take a race course with Glenn Tsunokai. I've never met anybody who didn't enjoy him or his classes.
The best!
Tsunokai has been by far my favorite professor ever. His classes are extremely interesting and engaging, and he compels you to actually learn, because it's a great class. His tests, however, require a a bit of studying. Just go through his study guide, line by line, and you'll do okay.
He makes things interesting. He has an amazing talent to generate class discussion with a class of more than 150 students. It is a 180min class and he is able to keep the class with him the entire time because he notices when students start dozing. He will only make a slight comment about "eyes getting droopy" and that is all it takes to wake them.
Probably the best professor I have had at western! The class is fun and lectures are interesting. I took Race and Ethnic Relations, went into the class just taking it as a GUR, but it was my favorite class. He will bring up recent controversies and have the class discuss, and is amazing at playing devil's advocate. His tests are very fair too.
A wonderful teacher and really makes the class enjoyable. I took the 269 class and the tests are directly from lecture slides and fairly easy if you study and read the assigned readings. Don't bother with the book. Overall a very personable guy, loved the class!
Amazing dude
Ive taken both race classes, and soc. stratification. He is my favorite professor ever!Everyone shoould at least take SOC 269 (race and ethnic relations) cuz it counts for GUR. got an A in 269, B in 369, and B+ in 364. easy grades
Glenn's race class was during my first quarter at Western (Fall 2005), I will be graduating this spring (Spring 2009) and to this day, I have not found another professor who is better than Glenn. If you haven't taken a class from him yet, I definitely recommend it, you will not regret it!
This is my third year at Western, and by far Glenns classes have been my favorite. He knows how to grab and KEEP student's attention. Overall, a very intelligent man and a fantastic class to take!
He is beyond Amazing, I adored him
BEST professor at WWU.
He's the nicest guy ever. He keeps class interesting, and he does care about his students. Basically, he's captivating and very helpful. TAKE HIS CLASS. You won't regret it. (I wasn't interested in this class originally, but I ended up loving it).
Taking Soc 369 with Glenn was great! It was just as interesting and fun as his other classes. Sadly this was the last course I could take from him since I had already taken them all.
After all the raves I had heard about him from my friends and this website, I decided to take his SOC 269 class. It was probably the most interesting class I've ever taken in my life and I now understand why everyone loves this guy. I'm taking his SOC 364 class right now and it is a bit more difficult than SOC 269, but still great. HE'S THE BEST!
Awesome teacher. Had Soc 269 with him and he made it interesting. He was fair and gave lots of extra points. Tests were long and sometimes hard but all the points made it reasonable. Take classes from him. He is awesome and a nice guy.
This an awesome class. Some people take it after 269 but that isnt necessary! I did fine without prior experience. Tsunokai uses lots of media for this class and makes it fun and iteractive for everyone. Read the textbook and books and STUDY because his tests are long enough that after question 50 all the terms and models start looking the same!
WWU has a Course Evaluations Public Archive. Go to the Testing Center website and click on Course Evaluation Archive. You can see how the entire class actually evaluated an instructor, rather than an unrepresentative sample of individuals who may or may not have even been students in that course. It is much more reliable information than this site.
I absolutely love the class. He made it really fun and enjoyable to go to the lectures. His class isn't mandatory for attendance but you always feel like you'll miss something good if you don't go! his tests are hard but EC is always available and he gives you an opportunity to get involved with debate or tackle assignments. Super nice professor!
After taking 269 I took all of Glenn's other classes and ended up minoring in Sociology! If you go to class and put in some time you will have no problem getting a good grade. He gives a lot of chances to get extra points and is extremely available and willing to help if you go to his office or talk to him after class.
I have taken Glenn for three differnt classes at WWU. He is by far the best professor I have had and a big part of the reason I became a Sociology Major. His classes are extreamly structured and organized in a way that makes even the most difficult concepts learnable.
Glenn is an amazing teacher, he is very understanding and very enthusiastic. If you ever have the chance to take on of his classes I highly recommend it, definitely my favorite class.
I can't say enough good things about Glenn. He is by far the best professor I have had at WWU. His grading is extremely fair and his expectations are very clear. I would highly recommend this class to anyone.
Amazing lectures. Thought provoking questions. 3 fairly simple projects and tests. Some questions on test are from the book which he doesn't go over in class. Best is to read the text before lecture and print out powerpoint to take notes on. Great guy, great class!
He is the most helpful teacher and best teacher I have ever had!
Great Professor! one of my favorite classes here so far. Material is so interesting and thought provoking. Plus he gives lots of extra credit and makes it pretty easy to get a good grade. Would definitely recommend this class!
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!
He is the BEST prof. I ever had. Very Helpful. The class is also very interesting.
amazing professor! great class! will definitely have an effect on how I think for the rest of my life! a MUST TAKE COURSE at Western!
HE IS THE GREATEST TEACHER EVER! Seriously, I haven't met this much awesome teacher before. His class is SO interesting. He is always passionate in the class, and give us thought-provoking ideas. And I can feel like he is "talking to" everybody, not just doing lectures. And also he take cares of us a lot. He is so friendly and kind. HE IS THE BEST.
This class strengthened my interest in cultural studies. Prior to this I enjoyed learning about cultures but not the interaction between cultures so much. His videos were very interesting and helpful.
He is hands down the best professor I have ever had. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there is NO way that you WON'T want to go to class. I have taken a ton of classes at western, but SOC 269 with Glenn is the ONLY class I have ever been excited about going to and disappointed about when it ends. Taking this class was my best decision at Western.
four years after graduation, the things I learned from glenn still shape my everyday life!!!
YOU MUST TAKE SOC 269. DO IT!
This was my first ever sociology class, and I wasn't particularly excited to take it, but it turned out great! Glenn is a great professor and he gives a lot of chances to get extra credit, retake exam, etc.
Like everyone else has said, take SOC 269. Do it. Now.
Glenn's class is awesome. He teaches race from many different perspectives. His class is always interesting. He shows a lot of online videos which always pertain to class and are always interesting. He also gives a lot of different homework options for accumulating all of your class points, which is nice. Don't read, just fill out the study guides.
Fantastic professor and very enlightening class. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but I never had any desire to miss!
He is fantastic.
One of the best instructors I've had in my entire life. He keeps his material interesting and current. The man is amazing. If you don't have to take his class, just take it, it'll be worth it. If other professors were like him, I would willingly go to some classes
What a boss. Tsunokai is by far the best professor I've had. He gives you study guides that tell you EVERYTHING that is on the test. Plus, you get practice questions (some which are used verbatim.) Take this class, you won't regret it.
Glenn is AWESOME. The tests were hard if you didn't go to class because the textbook is terrible and he doesn't post ALL the lecture slides, just most, so some terms on the study guide you can't find if you didn't go to class. But he is so interesting and down to earth that going to class is the way to go, and you never have to study if you show up
this class is great definitely one of the best i've taken at western. the way he has the class structured can be a little confusing at times but he does a lot of the work for you. A LOT of extra credit available which helped. very interesting course, highly recommend it.
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT WESTERN... If not the best. Super clear throughout his lectures and expectations for the class and his students. Gives ample opportunities for extra credit. DEFINITELY take his class if you get the opportunity!
Super nice and extremely helpful! Do the study guides, they help on exams significantly. Love this class!
I hope I'm as cool as Glenn when I'm older. Love him, love the class. TAKE THIS CLASS! It will be the best decision you'll ever make.
Very interesting class! Glenn tries very hard keep his class engaged with current and relevant information. He has 3 tests and a retake that averages out your loves test score. Make sure you do all of the homework and discussion boards. Utilize his office hours and challenge all of his tests. If you apply yourself you will do well! Take this class!
Great class and really interesting. Need to study a lot or pay really good attention in lectures. Make sure you understand concepts as well. Really fun and interesting class!!!
Amazing! Come to lecture because he doesn't post every single slide online, but you'll want to be there! I loved the discussion boards, he posts really interesting topics. Glenn is awesome, makes learning the material a breeze. I'm hoping to take another class with him soon. TAKE THIS CLASS, you won't regret it!
This was my favorite class this quarter! Glenn was so good and I really enjoyed everything we discussed. You don't have to go to class, but I highly recommend going because it is so interesting. You have many opportunities to get extra credit, which is really nice. Everything about this class was awesome. I highly recommend this class to anyone!
By far my favorite prof at WWU. Class isn't mandatory, but I would definitely go since there are some questions he posts in the test that are only covered in class. The class is so interesting, you won't have a need to skip anyways! Gives you a ton of extra credit to help your grade. Seriously, take this class.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!! I recommend it to everyone. Its relatively easy, super interesting, and Glenn is really funny. Seriously, if you take any class at Western this should be the one. Seriously.
Professor Tsunokai is the best teacher I have had in my academic career. He is incredibly knowledgeable and very unbiased regarding delicate subjects. Assignments are interesting, tests are reasonable and grading is always fair. I recommend any class from Tsunokai, he is awesome. (I took 269, 369 & 364 with him)
Prof. Tsunokai is really cool. His class is VERY engaging and interesting. It's a great introductory course, especially for FR because it's hard to fail since there's so many opportunities for E.C. Plus, it's a great class for opening the mind on the subject of ethnicity. It's eye opening. Definitely take his class!
Glenn is so nice and generally cares about all of his students. He has really designed his course for people of all different learning styles. I recommend this course 100%
Tsunokai is the BEST teacher WWU has to offer. His class is easy if you go to class and use the study guides, but fascinating too. He is good at teaching, and loves sociology. Everything he teaches is relevant. He also has infinite opportunities for extra credit. You would have to do literally nothing to fail this class.
Tsunokai is great! If you're wondering he doesn't have an accent... He gives a lot of extra credit. Attendance is not mandatory, but I went just because I enjoyed and was genuinely interested in his lectures. He shows a lot of interesting and funny videos :)
Best professor ever!! This class is fantastic and he teaches it so well. Always go to lecture, it's necessary for getting a well earned A. Honestly it's not even too hard since the material is extremely interesting. He really knows his stuff.
definitely my favorite class at western by far!! glen is such an awesome teacher and theres a ridiculous amount of extra credit, just study a little bit and u will definitely get an A or B!
Glenn is an ANGEL. I can't recommend him highly enough. The class is super interesting and he's so fun and approachable. Also gives a TON of extra credit chances. Take him!
Glen is a great guy, and he makes this class very accessible. Almost too accessible actually. He hands out huge amounts of extra credit, and offers retakes on all of the exams besides the final. Almost too easy, kind of felt like high school. His course was very basic, if you have experience with race relations choose a more challenging class.
Tsunokai is an incredible professor! He is passionate about what he teaches and is very engaging. He's approachable and friendly, honestly one of the best professors I've ever had.
My favorite class so far at Western! Really interesting lectures that I enjoyed. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Good class to take as a GUR. Don't buy the textbook he has them on hold at the library and you hardly use them. Most of the things on the study guide are on his power points.
Favorite class & professor at WWU. If you have the time to take this class, DO IT! 3 exams in the class and he gives you the opportunity to earn EC through discussion posts, assignments, and video responses. You can succeed in this course with a little bit of studying. Besides the easiness factor, you will also enjoy everything about this class.
This was my last quarter at WWU and took this class as a filler. I am glad I did. He is one of the best professors I had over the 5 years I was at western
He is one of my favorite (if not my favorite) professor I have ever had. I can't say enough good things about Glenn! If you are going to take any class at WWU take this one.
All I can say is GLENN IS THE MAN! Best teacher I've ever had at WWU. Not only is he willing to help you with anything in regards to his class but he is always giving students the opportunity to succeed. Plus, I never get bored in his classes since the material he lectures on is SO fascinating. Take ANY class with Glenn before you graduate.
I was worried about the size, but I really loved this class Glenn made it really interesting. I didn't use the book very much except for vocabulary, but it's available at the library. Go to class and take lots of notes. The slides are online.
It was my first quarter in college so I was kind of worried about taking classes. But this class was just amazing. I like the lectures and Glenn is a great professor. It's an interesting class. I would love to take this class again !
Glenn is an amazing professor, you can truly see that he cares about what he teaches. This class honestly opened my eyes and changed me as a person so I really recommend taking this class if you're looking for a class that will change your perspective or make you grow. He gives insane amounts of extra credit so failing the class is difficult.
He explains things very well & is super easy going. Gives many opportunities for extra credit. Don't bother buying the textbook. He won't test on anything that isn't covered by the slides and he posts them all online. He posts really helpful study guides. Exams are easy. The final isn't cumulative. He throws out any problematic questions on exams.
Really helpful, approachable, not public with his opinions, witty: he's the man.
If there is a class that everyone should take while at Western, this is easily the class. Glenn's lectures are always interesting and he makes a huge effort to keep the class enjoyable and interesting. Aside from how great Glenn is, the class itself is great. If you take this class you will definitely think about a lot and learn a lot. Take it!
Glenn is the man. His lectures are so fun to go to, and even though it's a big lecture hall he is very engaging. His tests were very hard, but made up for it with immense amounts of extra credit. I would recommend this class to anyone, in the major or not.
Glenn as everyone has said is an Amazing Prof. Very helpful, lectures are interesting and attention getting. Structures the class so he brings up interesting topics at the beginning of class instead of going straight into lecture. He wants his students to succeed. My only critique, he moves FAST! I couldn't write everything down at times.
Really awesome class. I enjoyed going every day. He gives a TON of extra credit, and if you do a lot of it, it helps immensely with your grade, considering his tests are challenging. All his tests are multiple choice, but lots of situational questions. Tsunokai is the man!
Glenn is a great professor! He goes through topics fairly well, and if you don't get it in class, GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! it's not only a good time to get the answers you need, but it's also great to just get to know him. His tests are pretty tough if you don't really pay attention, but he offers a lot of extra credit.
Lecture is very fast pace but the class is super interesting. Make sure you don't miss Sociology 269, I took it last quarter and it really opened my eyes.
Glenn is amazing one of the best classes I've taken so far. His class is entraining and you can tell you know what he's taking about. Assignments are mediatory except tests and discussion questions. I suggest you do as many assignments as you can as a safety net but as long as you study his lectures and follow his study guides you'll do fine.
Very interesting class, but tests are very long and difficult (multiple choice though). Makes up for it in lots of extra credit.
Such an amazing class and professor! One of my favorite classes. Lectures are entertaining and you learn a lot. Glenn is an amazing professor. Books are on reserve. Do all test corrections, discussion boards, etc. easy extra credit. Tests are weirdly worded, so be careful, but theres test corrections. GOOD CLASS AND PROFESSOR AND SUBJECT, LOVED IT!
LOVE Glenn. He's such an inspirational professor that cares about his students succeeding. Pretty straight forward class with a project, midterm, and final (tests you can have a sheet of notes!). Everyone should take a class with Glenn before they graduate! You will learn SO much! Also take his race & ethnic relations class! He's the best!
I have taken all the courses Glen offers. The homework is a necessary evil for a great class. The lectures are always intriguing and he keeps your attention well. The tests are tough but he gives so much extra credit through out the class it doesn't matter. I'm a senior and he is by far the best professor I've ever had. He obviously loves his job.
Take any class you can from Glenn, the subject of the lectures keeps you interested, and they're applicable to real life as well. The tests were easy if you study the study guides, but even if you don't do well he gives tons of extra credit opportunities. Great great teacher!!!
Glenn is definitely the man. Took him for race and ethnicity and my mind was blown. It's clear he's been teaching it for a while but its stays interesting if you curious about the origins of various races. Also covers controversial topics like racial profiling and hate groups which he made very interesting. Hard to fail with all the extra credit.
I enjoyed Glenn as a prof because of his energy and easiness, but this class in particular definitely felt like a GUR. He makes you "compete" for extra credit points, his tests are very long & repetitive, and the material is very memorize-and-regurgitate. But it's an interesting class, and I would recommend him if you're going to take it.
Amazing professor. Helpful, makes the subject interesting, lets you know what is expected, and an easy class if you just do the work and know your stuff. Very eye-opening class.
I loved Tsunokai's class!! His lectures are moving, and he offers PLENTY of extra credit options. Awesome teacher, highly recommend!
I went into this class dreading it because I have never enjoyed sociology or the topics surrounding it, but Glenn made me LOVE this class. Half his lectures are based on things happening in pop culture and interesting videos. The other half is based on vocab and things you need to know for tests. He hands out extra credit and makes it hard to fail
Lectures are very interesting and I looked forward to attending every class. Gives many extra credit opportunities and is always available for help.
One of the best classes that I've taken at WWU! Glenn is an awesome professor, he gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and his lectures are well worth going to. I would highly recommend taking this class.
This was a fantastic class I wish everyone could take. His lectures are long but interesting and he uses great examples. His grading and assignments are somewhat confusing but overall an amazing professor.
GlennAn amazing person. Period. I strongly recommend you taking this class. You're missing out if you don't take this class by the time you graduate. I thought I knew a lot about racism, prejudice and discrimination until I had this class. I feel confident going out and teaching it to other people. It opens up your perspective! TAKE THIS CLASS!
GlennAn amazing person. Period. I strongly recommend you taking this class. You're missing out if you don't take this class by the time you graduate. I thought I knew a lot about racism, prejudice and discrimination until I had this class. I feel confident going out and teaching it to other people. It opens up your perspective!
Was already really interested in this class but Glenn made me even more passionate. He does go through the lectures really fast but he puts the slides online and by the end of the class I'd learned to take pictures of some of the slides before he moved on. Wish it was a smaller class w/more room for discussion but that's what upper divs are for.
In five years of higher education this is the best class i've ever taken. This should be a required class for every WWU student, Glenn is AMAZING. I have never learned so much and enjoyed every second. You will want to go to lectures he uses videos, real life examples and they are just perfect. He gives study guides and TAKE THIS CLASS
Tsunokai is the best. I've had him for two classespecially already and he is just a great professor. He is so helpful and clarifies concepts very well. I wish I could take more classes from him. He is very helpful during office hours as well. The class isn't an easy A but he makes it worth it. Definitely one of my favorite professors on campus.
Glenn's lectures are really great and make you aware of societal elements that you may have been oblivious to before. He posts all his slides online and gives a lot of extra credit. The homework is easy and you do it at your own pace through the quarter. Also you can get by without the reading in my experience, however it is helpful.
Glenn's a cool guy. The class gives tons of extra credit, got 110/150 on a test and after extra credit and his form of test corrections I got it up to 133/150. Tons of copies of the book in the course reserve and you don't use it that much. Highly recommend this class for a GUR.
Glenn is a great professor. His lectures are very interesting and he is non-biased. The textbook for this class is helpful, but you can usually get the information you need for the study guides related to chapter material online (quizlet). Would definitely take again, my favorite class!
There were so many grading curves and extra points he gave that went towards your test grade. I never used the book or read the online readings and I did just fine. Although, the readings would have helped a little I'm guessing. Just do all the extra credit opportunities he gives you and you're golden.
I love Glenn so so much! He is the best professor I have ever had, and I would take him for every class if I could. He gives amazing lectures and is very passionate about the subjects that he teaches.
Glenn is amazing! He hands out questions throughout the quarter where you earn points to put towards your exams & gives a paper extension if you have good attendance. He is so passionate about what he teaches & is very clear on what you need to do in order to get an A. You get a 1/2 page of notes for the midterm & a full sheet for the final!
Glenn is my favorite professor at Western. He made it very clear what was going to be on the tests, gave extra credit, and had very interesting lectures. It's very easy if you put in a little effort.
Incredible. I wish everyone at WWU would take this class.
Glenn is a really great teacher. I thought his lectures were so engaging and I really enjoyed coming to class and this is coming from a person with fairly crappy attendance. There's a lot of work in the class and tests are really hard but if you care about your grade he will make sure you get either an A or B. Love him!
AMAZING!!
A really interesting class with a really great professor! Grades were based off in class exams (which were very straightforward) and online discussion boards. Lots of extra credit options and you could retake exams to make up some missed points.
Glenn is an awesome professor. Really knows how to be engaging and interesting! I loved this class! He's pretty straightforward with exams and gives a clear study guide. Also there are many opportunities to score extra credit. I can tell he is passionate about this subject and I appreciated that.
Good class, engaging lectures (not necessary to go to, but more fun than reading the book), easy to do well in the class as long as you bother to pay attention - and even then, he offers a plethora of extra credit opportunities.
Many many extra credit options. Really interesting lectures with relevant topics and an awesome pace. Always incorporates videos/photos/links to what's going on in the real world.
Textbook hardly ever used, and study guides are word-for-word with the tests. Interesting lectures and tons of EC opportunities but very heavy on exam grades.
lots of options for extra credit! Tests are big part of grade.
He is by far the best professor i have had at Western and i am going to take the other class he teaches as well. The tests aren't difficult if you do the readings, read the textbook and go to class. He offers a retake test too. And he posts the slides online so you don't have to go to class. TAKE THIS CLASS.
Glenn surprises me at every turn of the quarter. He began the year impressively, by incorporating much humor into the course. He is very relatable with students and understands how to give a lecture that is captivating and worthwhile. As the quarter continued, I was amazed by his number of extra credit opportunities as well as his stellar grading.
I took SOC 269 this quarter and Glenn was great! He knows the subject well and is a really good lecturer! The class is easy if you attend the lectures and take good notes. Lots of extra credit so take advantage! It's also really interesting so it's a good class for a GUR if you aren't a sociology major. Would definitely recommend!
Glen is a great professor, he really knows what he is talking about and seems to keep the class engaged. If you are studios and are good at taking very fast notes (he changes the slides very fast) then you will thrive in this class. This class sort of felt like a history class, and we had to remember a lot of historical facts for exams.
This class with Dr. Tsunokai is awesome. I would recommend this class to every student at Western. Plan on coming to all classes because you won't want to miss those lectures. Fast paced so you need to be prepared. Grade in class is determined largely by 3 exams. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Again, highly recommend.
Dr. Tsunokai is a great professor. However, his class lectures were based off of a powerpoint which had small font and the font color sometimes blended in with the background color. If that's not enough, he goes through slides really quickly. His tests were difficult and wordy. I took 18 credits, and this was the only class I didn't get an A in.
One of the best professors I have ever had at Western. Definitely recommend this class, the only issue I have had is that the lectures have missing pieces in them online, so it makes you go to class and he does tend to go through the lectures too fast. The concepts aren't hard to understand, just go to class, review notes and you should be OK.
Glenn is literally one of the most incredible people in the world. I love him soooooo much. This is the best class I've ever taken.
Switched to taking notes on a laptop half way through quarter since he sometimes goes quickly through slides. Some slides/words are missing so it's recommended to attend class every day. This class has 3 test (75 pts each) and there are opportunities for extra credit that go towards your final grade and to your test grade. Fantastic class.
Amazing professor, and easily the best at this university. I highly recommend getting soc 269 as a gur so you can get glenn. His lectures are great, and tests are predictable because he only uses material that is on study guides. The class grade is mainly tests, but there is a retake if you screw up the first two and there is tons of extra credit.
Glenn is great, totally recomend
Glenn is a great professor. His lectures are interesting to listen to, and his grading system makes it pretty easy to be successful in the class. The study guides are a good reflection of what the tests are like and he gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Glenn is an amazing prof. I learned a lot from the SOC269 and I strongly believe everyone should take this class. Tons of extra credit opportunities. If you're in the top 5% you receive a grade boost. There's also a retake exam. Study hard and go to class. Slides are on canvas but he leaves out key info. He talks fast so only write what is missing
Glenn was very helpful and caring about all of his students. He was always available during office hours and kept his lectures interesting and informative. You do have to study a lot for his exams, but they are very fair and not too difficult.
I took this class as a GUR with a friend recommeding it to me. It was a very fun and interesting class. Don't slack off about the tools he gives you. I wouldn't skip class here either. The notes are very detail in that one word makes the difference. Do all the extra credit you can. Super easy points there. Great professor!!
One of the best profs at Western. He is really clear on what he expects from you. He gives out study guides for every test, so it is really easy to get an A. Super nice guy! Attendance is not mandatory, but his lectures are so well done, that you end up wanting to go to class.
Definitely gives extra credit and is very passionate about his work. Loved listening to his lectures. However he does move fast but that's because there is so much to learn. Go into his class with an open mind and it will change your life.
Glenn Tsunokai is my favorite professor so far at Western. Even if Sociology isn't your thing, he's able to make any subject interesting and his lectures cause you to think critically about the world. The homework is easy, there's always extra credit, attendance is preferred since some concepts aren't posted online, but the tests can be difficult.
Glenn is one of my favorite professors at WWU. I'm a sociology major and he is a huge reason why I chose this major. I took race and ethnic relations and social stratification. It's a challenging class, but worth it and such a good class. Study for the tests! HUGE study guides so just give yourself enough time. He always gives you extra credit opps
Absolutely amazing class! He teaches concepts with a lot of examples. If you go to office hours he will do whatever possible to help you with whatever you need. I love Glenn
Glenn is an absolutely amazing professor. His lectures are very intriguing and he puts most of the slides on canvas so that is very helpful. He gives tons of extra credit and the discussion topics are so interesting. going to class is somewhat needed though because he blocks out some things on his slides when he puts them on canvas.
Glenn's a true Gem. I always feel like I'm learning and I never feel over-stressed.
He really knows how to make his lectures engaging, so you're never really bored. He's very passionate about sociology and knows how to explain things thoroughly. He's also very approachable and appreciates when you ask additional questions for further understanding. He's really good about letting you know what things will be or won't be tested.
This guy is the HOMIE!!!! He gives a lot of extra credit and is really chill. To add on, Glenn is good with jokes and hilarious with lectures even if it's an accident.
Great class, easy to pass
One of the best professors I've had to date. Amazing. Always offers extra credit. Extremely approachable. I've learned so much from his classes. He's extremely passionate and explains things in a way that's super easy to understand. I highly recommend him. By far the best class I've taken.
Glenn is amazing! Such interesting lectures and a lot of material is covered. The readings are plentiful, however he reviews the material pretty accurately in class. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should go to class.
Glenn is seriously amazing. The class size may seem intimidating but his lectures are so intersting you will want to go. Your grade is based on three exams, and 25 points worth of discussion boards and video responses. Everything else is extra credit. The class is somewhat difficult, but as long as you go and take good notes you should do well.
Glenn is my man. He's an amazing professor and I would recommend his class to EVERYONE. He's an incredibly intelligent man, and he is super sweet, kind, and nice. All around an awesome dude.
Do all the extra credit work (even if you only do half) he still is a very nice grader and gives you points. Test are hard, but if you take notes and try study you'll be fine.
Glenn is fantastic! By far my favorite professor Ive had yet. He cares about his students and treats them with respect, and is very approachable. He is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. show up and do the assignments its a very easy class.. not hard to get an A if just apply yourself a bit. Lots of extra credit opportunities too!
Glenn is an amazing professor. Lectures are engaging and full of information, and you can tell how passionate he is about the subject. Not a hard class if you do the readings and take good notes, but it's really informative and you'll learn a lot.
Glenn is a great teacher and I did buy the textbook but I didnt really use it towards the end and I still got a good grade in the class. Take advantage of the office hours because he will help quiz you before the exams if you really need the help.
absolutely loved this class and would take it again if I could
Great Class! one thing I remember about this class is he doesnt put everything on the online PowerPoints you can access from home, so I suggest going to class everyday to get that extra information he shows in class.
One of the best college courses I have taken! Every lecture was enjoyable and interesting. The grading criteria was simple yet still challenging enough not to lose interest. I feel that I was able to focus more on learning in class instead of losing time over worrying about my grade in the class.
Glenn is one of the best professors I have ever had. He isn't a powerpoint reader, he actually cares and is a skilled public speaker and teacher. He responds to emails quickly and meets with us very often.
Glenn's wonderful dude. He's currently teaching one of the largest lecture classes on campus and I still feel as if the content wouldn't be the same taught by anyone else. He definitely knows his stuff. So much in fact, that his lectures seem almost effortless. Study guides mean that if you're willing to do the work the tests should be fairly easy.
Glenn was by far the best professor I have ever had, and his lectures were very engaging and interesting. He knows what he is talking about, and his class is structured to grab the student's attention. He is a very fair grader, and gives countless opportunities for extra credit.
Glenn gives everybody an opportunity to earn an A. If you do the extra credit, which is all opinion work, than you are sure to get a good grade. His tests can seem tricky but they are not as hard as they seem; if you study bit by bit instead of cramming towards the end, you'll do fine. He shows lots of great videos, I learned a lot of valuable info
Prof. Tsunokai is by far my favorite professor. He hands out so many extra credit opportunities so you can get an A in the class. He is very organized and his lectures are amazing. Highly recommend this class.
Glenn was one of my favorite professors, He truly brings the subject to life. I would take him again in a Heartbeat. There's lots of extra credit and do them! He is so sweet and really cares about his students. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! Loved him!
He was a very good professor. He didn't give very many mandatory assignments so most of the grading was based on the exams. The ability to retake an exam is something that was appreciated and the ability to challenge questions. And the many options to get extra credit and compete for a half letter grade boost was very helpful as well.
There are so many extra credit opportunities in SOC269, and Glenn really gives students maximum chances to be successful. If you don't like your exam score, you can "challenge" your grade on questions you've gotten wrong, and usually get at least partial credit back just for challenging. He is very helpful, and the lecture material is important.
This was my first time taking Glenn's class & I have to say, he's so far my favorite professor at WWU. He is so passionate about the subject he is teaching and because of that, I was never bored in class. He really does care about his students and responds quickly to any concerns or requests for clarification. Take his class, you'll be glad you did
He is an amazing professor that really wants his students to succeed. There are so many chances for extra credit as well as challenge periods for his tests (which are all multiple choice) that can help you get some points back. The class material was well structured and he gives out lots of hints and study guides for the tests.
Absolutely amazing professor. He gives a great deal of extra credit and provides a pathway for hard work to get you a high grade. Showing up is important because tests are almost solely based on lecture. Lectures are really interesting and I learned a lot!
Glenn knows his stuff and knows how to teach it effectively. There are multiple approaches to doing well in his class and he lays the ways out clearly if you care enough to try you can get a solid grade.
Cares a lot about his students. Big exams but extra credit and lots of opportunities to get points back.
Glenn is a great professor. He makes an effort to get to know his students (mainly in his upper division & smaller classes). He is always willing to work with you and help you with things for his class. He wants his students to succeed and thats truly does show. His lectures are amazing as well. He provides a lot of real world examples.
Glenn is one of the best sociology professors that Western has to offer. I was hesitant to take this class because of how many students are in it, but Glenn makes sure that he is easily accessible for questions and one on one time if you are not understanding the material. He makes a really conscious effort to make sure that students do really well
I took his 269 class Winter 2017 and loved it, the lectures are shocking but always get a laugh. The discussion board assignments are very easy, the tests can be hard but if you use his study guide for more than an hour you'll be fine. Fast forward to Fall 2018 where I have a break right during his class and will go just to re watch the lectures.
Glenn is a great professor and really cares about his students. Super easy to get an A in and the tests are super easy if you pay attention and study with the lecture slides and study guides. Really approachable as well and super nice to all of his students.
Glenn is such a cool and laid back professor, he makes huge efforts to make time for his students. He makes the assignments very clear on canvas and will let you know what you need to do to improve your grade if you attend his office hours. His lectures are very interesting (containing lots of videos) and he gives lots of extra credit for exams.
There are so many extra credit opportunities that it seems almost impossible to fail. 3 exams make up the majority of the points, but you can challenge them. Readings weren't really required, but each test had a question or two on them. Use the study guides and you'll be fine.
Glenn and this class are both amazing. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, you just have to want to do the extra work. Study for exams and show up 90% of the time and you'll pass for sure. Glenn posts the lecture slides online, but he blocks out some of the important info that you will miss if you don't show up.
Overhyped. Class was so much work had to read 2 large textbooks, a bunch of online articles (20 pages each) and he slams you with info each lecture. He talks so fast and I'm often confused when he starts talking about a write up we have to do that came out of no where. Literally SO much you have to know for the tests. He's an alright guy i guess
Glenn is the sweetest! The lectures are worth going to because then you really won't need the book. I found this class fun and would suggest Glenn to anyone, he is beyond helpful and WANTS people to learn and take away from this class.
SOC269 was probably one of my favorite class I took. It was quite ease because it was so interesting and didn't even feel like work. Glenn is such a great lecturer and does such an amazing job teaching some really sensitive issues. He gives loads of extra credit, so if you show up you will definitely get an A!
This class was very easy but very informative. I came out with a 4.0 and with much more knowledge than I had coming in. Show up to the lectures, and youll do fine. Dont even bother buying the book, but do read the online articles he provides for you.
This class was really easy (pay attention in class and do the STUDY GUIDES) and the lectures were really interesting. Glenn did a wonderful job at keeping students engaged with lots of videos and pictures. He also gives out extra credit like candy. This is a really good GUR choice that won't bore you to death. The textbook really isn't necessary.
Soc 269 was by far the largest class size I endured at WWU. 400+ students. I looked forward to this class so much though because Professor Tsunokai is relative and an excellent lecturer. His class is test heavy, but he offers extra credit and if you're in the top 10% of the class he bumps your grade up by a half-letter. Highly recommend!
Best professor I've ever had at WWU for sure. Insane amounts of easy extra credit, and his lectures are genuinely fascinating. He uses tons of illustration and provides super clear study guides and practice problems. He gives you so much extra credit that you really have no excuse not to get at least a B in the class.
He's an amazing professor and I love everything he teaches, so real and so needed. It's very lecture heavy and test heavy but he gives an extreme amount of extra credit so if you fail it really is on you.. He makes it easy to pass if you put the work in, and while sometimes I'll leave class with way too much info to digest, it's the best class.
Glenn is an extremely qualified professor who genuinely cares about his students. There are endless extra credit opportunities and he really wants you to succeed. I 10/10 recommend any of his classes, we stan Glenn.
I loved taking this class. Glenn is an excellent professor, and I really hope to take classes from him in the future. He gives a lot of extra credit, and I really believe he cares about his students. His lectures are always organized and very informative.
Glenn was literally the best teacher Ive ever had, I would take him again in a heartbeat. He gives HELLA extra credit too!!
Gives so much extra credit if you fail all the tests you can do extra credit and still pass. Love Glenn best teacher ever, such a good lecture giver. Would take again a thousand times over.
Professor Tsunokai is a wonderful teacher. His lectures are engaging and he's very passionate about all topics he covers. He creates many opportunities for extra credit and goes above and beyond to make sure students can achieve the grades they want. He's a very understanding and caring teacher.
This class was super interesting and well taught. Attendance isnt mandatory. Glen uses great examples to go with his points. You do have to study but the textbook is unnecessary. Glen is great.
Lots of opportunities to get extra credit, asked questions you had to put theories into practice - not that easy, because he didn't really go into detail with those theories.
Glenn is kind professor. that being said, 269 is over-hyped. Slides with tons of info shown for 15 seconds then a picture for 3 minutes. Had +/- 20 TA's. tests were 75Q on a BROAD topics. definitions changed to fit subject which will confuse anyone who has learned the terms in other classes. interesting class, a little scattered, decent BCGM.
Professor Glenn is a very caring person who wants his students to do well. He provides detailed study guides and lets you replace your lowest exam score with a retake exam. You can tell that he is very passionate about the topic.
This class is one of the biggest on campus. Professor Tsunokai is an effective lecturer. His slides have a lot of information on them, but he tells the class what to focus on. You have the opportunity to challenge the exams. A great class!
I have never had a more flexible prof. Never took one test in class because of Random reasons I couldn't be there. He always let me take it in his office. Clearest expectations for test. he accidentally gave me an a as a final grade and said because I did so good on the final I could have it. ALSO so refreshing to have a poc prof teaching a racecla
Glenn is a funny and engaging prof. His lectures are very informational and often left interesting w/ funny quips & interesting personal analogies. Exams are based off slides, just a bit harder. Offers A LOT of extra credit; it's a waste to not take advantage of that. Able to challenge exams to get higher marks. Entire experience was great!
Engaging lectures that are dynamic and appeal to all learning styles. Must read the two books to complete projects and do well on the exams. One midterm, one interview paper, one project, one final. Go to class! Glenn makes himself available and wants to see his students succeed. Lots of EC opportunities. Strongly recommend this class!
Structure of class is very easy to understand
Glenn is really passionate about what he teachers. He also gives a ton of extra credit, lets you challenge exams, has a large amount of office hours and legit cares about his students. I've taken his SOC269 class as well and I wish I could take another class with him next quarter. Really wants you to succeed, I'd highly recommend his class.
I love Tsunokai so much I almost wasted college on a sociology major. Love soc but it just gets you nowhere. ANYWAY, easy A, super nice, funny, interesting lectures, take notes in class then you should pass the class with no problem. I still try to look for another class to take with Tsunokai every quarter even though Im a business major
He is one of the best people at WWU. His lectures are engaging and move at just the right speed. He does not waste time and you can always go to office hours. There is so much extra credit offered you are set up to succeed.
I think it's fair to say that Glenn is by far been mine and many others, favorite professors, here at western. He covers a lot of controversial topics, so be ready to be taught perspectives you may or may not know. He is such a sweetheart and I wish I went to his office hours more often. Would 100% take this again
While daily attendance isn't required, there are generally extra credit opportunities or exam hints announced in class. Glenn is very clear about grading guidelines, and is a fairly lenient grader. If you have any confusion, he is also pretty easy to get ahold of for clarification or help.
Tsunokai takes what should be complicated and convoluted class full of dense material and makes it super accessible and simple. Serious in a league of his own. Cannot wait to take more classes with him, probably the best class I have taken in Western yet. Could not recommend this professor more, super communicative and supportive.
Wow. I was personally blessed my circumstance with all classes being online because this class was an absolute blast online. His lectures were actually kinda fun (and I HATE sociology) but they were actually bingeable. I 100% recommend, Im only writing a comment at an attempt to bring is rating 4.8
Professor Tsunokai is great! He offers a lot of extra credit for cushion incase something goes wrong with your mandatory assignments. Even for having a class of 400 students he responded to me in the same day and made a zoom appointment for feedback on my exams which was extremely helpful! I highly recommend!
I LOVED this class. He gives a great safety net with extra credit, and also a retake exam. If you put in. the effort you will get an A. Amazing and engaging lectures. I was actually sad when this class ended I loved it so much. 11/10
Glenn is a treasure and I wish I could have taken his class in person (online due to Covid). His expectations are clear, he provides lots of extra credit opportunities, and he is super organized and approachable. He pre-recorded all of his lectures so we could work at our own pace but also provided a schedule for guidance. I loved his class.
I love prof Glenn so much! He genuinely cares for his students and will help you get where you need to be in terms of grades:)
One of the best classes Ive taken so far. He is an extremely fair grader and has multiple ways to get extra credit, so really, if you dont get an A in this class its on you because of the amount of EC. Would 100000% take again
soc. of race and ethnicity with glenn was amazing-- you can tell he really knows his stuff and is passionate about the content. reading the material is important, and the notes are handy. he seems very sweet and ends every recorded lecture with "believe it or not, we're already at that time". i can't wait to take his SOC369 class in the future!
Not only does Glenn set you up the pass his class with tons of extra credit opportunities and retake options, but he also makes class extremely interesting and engaging. Even with the online format I genuinely found his lectures to be binge-worthy. I've learned so much in this quarter, and I can't recommend him enough,
Glenn is an AMAZING prof. His lectures are long, but very interesting. He tells you exactly what you need to know for exams. I would highly recommend taking a soc course from him, as he genuinely seems to enjoy teaching. My favorite prof so far at western.
Glenn is such a funny, nice guy. His lectures were informative/ interesting to watch. The class is based on 3 exams (450 points) and discussions (25 points). If you take solid notes, youll for sure pass the tests. His study guides are helpful and I definitely recommend using them while taking notes. Also, LOTS of extra credit opportunities.
3 tests with an optional makeup exam, lots of extra credit options but you gotta work for it, Plus a half letter grade raise for top 10% of extra credit posting. Raised my grade 20% from extra credit. Lots of lectures every week no assignments due until end of quarter.
AMAZING!! Glenn is one of the few professors out there who genuinely loves his job and cares about the success of his students. 2 exams, 2 projects, and discussion board posts, plus extra credit opportunities. This is my second class with Glenn and I cannot recommend him enough! Hes flexible with deadlines, an easy grader, and a super nice guy.
It's really really easy to get an easy A in this class. You just have to show up and take decent notes and it's really easy to pass the tests (all multiple choice). He also has ways of bumping up your test grades and lots of extra credit. Very few assignments. He's really obviously passionate in what he teaches, loved going to class.
Glenn is great. Lectures are intriguing and easy to sit through. Class is easy but you need to show up to get specific information that will be on the test (he will omit certain things from online lecture slides). Assignments include discussion posts and responses to videos. Exams were pretty easy if you study. Offers a lot of extra credit
Glenn is pretty great, its a lecture class so be prepared for notes and bring snacks. He is able to divulge the content in an easy way for us to understand and actually talks about topics that are not usually in the public eye. He always responds to emails and really good for office hours. I looked forward to going to his class, youll enjoy it!
I think Glenn is overrated. The stuff he lectures about is outdated and the content is very recycled from 269. I feel like I didnt learn anything. The only conversations in the class were done on discussion boards even though this class was in person and 30 people. He just lectures the whole class and about really surface level stuff. Boring class
I took Glenn's Soc 269 class and loved it. It's a big class, so there is not a lot of classroom discussion, but his lectures are so interesting. I learned so much about race relations. Everyone needs to take this class.
I had heard a lot of good things about Soc 269. Decided to take it in the fall as an in-person class-- I'm glad that I did. Glen was wonderful. He knows his stuff. The material was relatable and important.
I loved, loved, loved Soc 269. Even though Glenn had to wear a mask while lecturing, his passion/enthusiasm was on full display. He's great! Highly recommend this class.
There are a lot of safety nets provided in the class in case you are not a good test-taker. Glenn cares about his students. He knows his stuff. Telling my friends to take 269.
He gave out so many extra-credit opportunities that you would have to try to not pass. The tests were also quite easy, and he was great at teaching.
This class was AMAZING!!! The prof uses an interactive app. Throughout the lecture we get to participate using our phones. I wish more teachers would use the app. Prof Tsunokai is very knowledgeable. LOVING the class!
Love this guy, genuinely looked forward to class and it always went by SUPER fast. Very clear, communicative, and super engaging. Cannot recommend it enough.
Professor Tsunokai is a really great guy. He's been teaching 269 for years and you can tell by the quality of his lectures. Most concept he covers he couples with an example which makes remembering concepts easier. He offers literally so much extra credit that it is hard to leave this class without a B or more. I would recommend this class.
Glenn was one of the best professors I have had at Western. I highly recommend taking his soc 269 course.
Glenn is the best! I had to drop the class because of external factors but I am planning on retaking it!
Glenn was the best. He is one of my favorite professor at Western. He made me want to learn more about race and ethnicity. This class is one of the class that i want to take again if I could. There are a lot of exams however you can get extra a lot of credit by responding to discussion board on Canvas. That is how I raised my grade to C+.
One of the best professors at WWU. An incredible human and great teacher.
My favorite professor so far, do all the extra credit, because if you don't his class is a lot harder to get a good grade in.
Took SOC269 online, I would recommend it to fulfill your BCGM credit requirement if you have over a year of college experience. Clear grading criteria with informative video lectures and online articles; there is no need to buy the textbook to do well. Take this class with a grain of salt and an open mind, it is taught from a left-wing perspective.
super chill and likable. very knowledgeable and great with relaying info.
Glenn was a really funny professor and was always clear on what would be on exams. He also gives A LOT of extra credits so even if you mess up on an exam it still wouldn't hurt your grade.
Glenn is a great professor. Some of the topics we cover can be pretty heavy and he lightens the mood in the perfect way. His lecture slides are engaging and materials are accessible. Don't forget to do the online readings, I forgot my first test and was completely lost on a few questions.
Glenn is an amazing professor. His lectures are easy to follow and he mentions which points will be on the exams. He even makes study guides for the exams! Follow them exactly and you'll do great. If you're not a good test taker, take advantage of all the extra credit opportunities he provides (there's tons!!!) Textbook isn't necessary.
One of my favorite professors of all time! I loved his lecture style, but there was a lot of material that we all had to go back and memorize. Pay attention and study between classes and you'll be fine!
Glenn is the best!! Lot's of extra credit opportunities in Soc269
Glenn is great, couldn't recommend SOC269 more! I learned so much in his class and was genuinely interested and engaged in lectures. A low workload and tons of extra credit opportunities to succeed even if you don't do well on exams. There are 3 main exams but paying attention in class and using his provided study guides make them easy!
Just a great prof. His lectures are interactive in the best way, there's tons of extra credit opportunities, and hes there to help and cares about your success. great class I 100% recommend (and I'm picky with professors)
Glenn! Literally was blown away by his teaching. It was fast paced and in depth. The material was thorough and easily digestible. He was organized and the grading and responses to questions were done in a timely fashion. 100% recommend his class.
I really liked Glenn. I thought he was very engaging. His lectures were spot on and I never really got bored. There is extra credit options which is a plus. Although, I wasn't a fan of the way things were graded. I dont know why it had to be so complex... just be simple! and straightforward. Overall, I thought he was great and recommend his class.
I love Glenn and his class so much. You can't get a bad grade if you go to every class, take good notes, and listen. Extremely well thought-out curriculum and grading style and extremely engaging lecture. I cannot recommend Professor Tsunokai enough. Also, I got away without using the textbook, but you probably should use it.
LOVE GLENN! He is fabulous and very passionate about what he teaches. You can tell he really cares for his students. Homework level is reasonable and he always offers a lot of extra credit. It's hard to get anything less than an A or B if you put in the time and take good notes. by far my favorite professor at western.
I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot. Most of your grade is based on three tests which is the main reason that I struggled. If you are able to put in the extra time, there are many extra credit opportunities throughout the quarter. For some of these, you need to have been in class to know about them and have the information you need.
Love Glenn! Great and engaging prof. Come to class, it's fun! Take notes, and do all of the extra credit. If you do all of it, you are guaranteed a good grade. Tests are still very important, but if you don't do well on them, he offers so many ways to redeem yourself. You can challenge test questions to get points back. Take one of his courses!!
I cannot recommend Glenn enough. His Race and Ethnicity class is a must take (you get GUR credit). Glenn was prepared, practiced, and I appreciated how organized lectures and Canvas were. The grading for SOC 269 is a bit confusing, so make sure to ask clarification questions if needed.
Favorite professor so far. He gives a lot of opportunities to get points and extra credit. His grading system is a little bit confusing at first, but it gives everyone a really fair chance to not only succeed but thrive. He's also just a funny guy who clearly cares a lot about the course material and gives very interesting lectures. Will take again
Glenn has something that most profs just don't. It is hard to explain but his teaching is like a mix of every style so he reaches everyone's learning style. If not, he is always making sure everyone gets it. Took his capstone, so glad I did. Great wrap-up to my secondary education. Overall just a great professor and a cool human.
Glenn is hands down the best professor at WWU. I have taken 269,369,364, and been a TA for 269 as well. All classes were engaging and fun thanks to Glenn, and grading is always simple and clear with lots of opportunities for extra credit. He is incredibly kind, funny, and understanding and promotes great class discussion. Amazing professor & person
Hands down best professor on and off campus. Classes are fairly easy and straight forward and course work is fairly manageable. Lots of discussion boards and kind of test heavy, but very accessible and wants you to succeed.
Glenn is one of the best professors I've had at WWU. He gives so many opportunities for extra credit, his lectures are super accessible, and he truly wants everyone to do well. I have learned so much in this course and will be moving on to his upper level course on the topic.
Glenn is great! I felt bad because I never attended his classes, but I ended up passing with a B. His classes were definitely lecture and test heavy, but he is really funny and super nice overall! Would definitely recommend
I love Glenn. Naturally a passionate teacher and very good at engaging the class. He also offers so many safety nets, extra credit, and even a retake exam if you're struggling in the class. As long as you attend the lectures and manage your time well, you'll do fine.
This class didn't impress me. Glenn is a standard professor and a nice person, but the course quickly became boring. The main positive standout of the course was the amount of extra credit or "safety nets." But I did not gain much from the class and lots of information felt outdated. The class isn't very intense if you need to take it for credit.
An eye-opening class. Glen really wants students to succeed. He is a passionate lecturer-- he uses Menti to keep the class engaged. I loved the class and subject matter.
This was my first quarter at Western. I hope my future professors will be like Dr Glenn. He truly wanted us to be successful. I learned a lot about race relations in the US. He uses Menti, making the class very interactive.
Professor Tsunokai is an amazing professor. His lectures were very engaging and he offers a lot of extra credit. Sometimes if you go to class certain days you can get more extra credit. He cares a lot about students and is quick to respond to emails.
Glenn is a great person and professor. This was my first quarter at Western, I really enjoyed the course content. Lots of safety nets to ensure you pass this course, make sure to stay on top of it because it's easy to underestimate the time you have before it's finals week! But I bought the textbook, and barely read it... and did great on my exams.
One of the nicest professors I have ever had. His tests were much harder than the course content however, but this was because they were open book and online. The daily course content was super interesting and very fun to learn about.
Probably one of the best lecturers in the entire school and gave tons of extra credit opportunities. The exams are long but he basically tells you what will be on them.
TONS of opportunity for extra credit, he is very nice and I think it's definitely easy enough to get an A in this class. Only problem is that he posts class slides to Canvas that are incomplete. As in, he will deliberately block out stuff so you can only see it in class. Makes reviewing for exams a bit annoying.
(I didn't use the textbook at all and was good in the class) He has A LOT of safety nets for your grade. I like his lectures a lot but sometimes he does go through the slides very fast which makes it hard to keep up sometimes.
Professor Glenn is the best professor ever! He cares about students. Has lots of safety nets to make sure everyone does well in the course. Uses Menti-- we get to participate in his lectures.
VERY easy class. Lectures were interesting, but he'd always go to the next slide like 2/3 of the way through writing it down (I get it tho, there's a lot of stuff to cover). Most forgiving professor I've ever seen; there's like a billion extra credit opportunities. If you show up for lectures and take notes, you'll get an A. Recommend for freshmen!
Awesome professor, took class for a GUR but it was genuinely really engaging and I enjoyed going, attendance not mandatory but there's extra credit opportunities in class and he tells you what questions will be on the tests. Tests are scantron but the study guides are comprehensive. Start reviewing test material a few days in advance.
verrrry extra credit heavy, and very engaging in class. great lectures and very thorough when answering questions. exams are not open note but if a question is answered wrong by at least 50% of the class, you get the points anyway. lots of optional assignments, you essentially get to choose what you want to do. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
I LOVE Glenn, he sets all of his students up for success, attendance is not mandatory but if you show up to class it will be pretty hard to fail. All of his lecture slides are posted on the canvas page and there are so many quizlets that have all of the exam questions. Tons of extra credit opportunities as well!
Really good professor, he gives out lots of extra credit opportunities and overall a really cool guy. Recommend 10/10.
One thing about Glenn - his rating can't be high enough. Personable, understanding and educated. Extensions provided with no explanation - no begging him for accommodation. It is hard to do poorly - work is cumulative (zero busy work) and his Canvas well organized. Strongest professor in the entire SOC department. Amazing capstone experience.
He's a nice guy and I like how he grades. However, after the first unit, sociological concepts were barely even mentioned, and instead, he just had us memorizing historical facts and events that I'd already learned about in high school. Still a valuable class, just misleadingly advertised in my opinion.
Professor Glenn's class is a great option - engaging lectures, tons of extra credit, and helpful study tools like Quizlet. With the class slides available and the forgiving grading, passing is pretty straightforward. Unstuck Study AI also proved useful for exam prep.
Such an amazing teacher.
Glenn is the best professor I have ever had. He is so funny & has incredibly interesting course content. He provides tons of extra credit opportunities and goes out of his way to ensure his students get good grades. He removes questions from tests if enough students miss the answer, boosting scores. He posts lecture slides. LONG LIVE GLENN
Genuinely the sweetest professor I've had. It's incredibly obvious that he cares not only about the subject he's teaching, but about his students as well. Tests are in person and your grade isn't visible, but the retake is online and there are also SO many opportunities for extra credit. Amazing guy and I could not recommend him more.
Really nice professor, very passionate about the class, cares about every student, very approachable. All tests are in person, lots of extra credit opportunities. There is assigned textbook readings, but you don't really have to do them, wouldn't waste money on buying the book.
Glenn is a ray of sunshine, has a resting smile face, and he's funny! His lectures are so interesting and very engaging. If you take good notes in class you'll do great on every exam. He offers SO MANY extra credit opportunities and has many safety nets for your grade. Very little homework. I would take literally any class he teaches!! :)
super interesting class and very kind and engaged professor despite the class being async and online
such a chill guy, engaging lectures, 269 and 364 were some of the best/most interesting classes i've ever taken. YAY GLENN!
Glenn is amazing!! I am currently in his winter SOC 369 class and I had to come and say how awesome he has been. AMAZING and engaging lectures, so much extra credit, extremely reasonable. Glenn truly sets you up for success in his class, by far my favorite professor. GO GLENN!! (also extremely hilarious).
Wonderful professor, easy class if you try just a little bit. Course load at first seems daunting but he does a great job at breaking it up so it is not overwhelming.
Glenn is so amazing! Definitely my favorite prof so far. His lectures are very interesting and engaging, and hes super funny! Courseload is VERY easy! Only a few discussion board posts a week with no limit on how much you need to write. All other assignments are optional, for extra credit. tons of other opportunities for extra credit! I reccommend!
I LOVE GLENN. So much extra credit, gives extensions, easy grader, very sweet, and engaging. Offers sub questions for the midterm and final (basically assignments you can complete throughout the course to avoid doing long answer questions during the tests). Online exams, open notes. Amazing lectures with engaging discussion and videos.
I love Glenn! Such a friendly guy, lectures are organized and engaging, clear and consistent feedback on work, SO many extra credit opportunities, courseload is super manageable. Honestly just great at his job and he actually wants you to succeed. The best prof I've had at wwu. HOORAY FOR GLENN!!
It feels impossible to fail this class. The only reason I didn't get an A is because I took this class my very first quarter here and have test anxiety. He makes it impossible to fail the class. The class in general is amazing too. You definitely won't regret taking it
I've never had a teacher who teaches in a way like Glenn did, and that is in the best way possible. He offers so much extra credit, upwards of a full letter grade, and all you need to do is participate in discussions. The topics in this class were heavy but allow for a lot of different lenses when looking at systemic issues in society.
Glenn is an outstanding professor; interactive formatting of lectures makes it easy to stay engaged. He provides many hints in class to prepare you for exams, study guides are good at covering information on exams. There are several safety nets to prevent you from failing his class. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
When picking classes the advisor said glenn was a “beloved professor on campus” I wanted to take his course since it also seemed interesting. LOVED the class and his interactive way of teaching, he was detailed, funny, and helpful when needed. I wish I could take another course with him or even the same class again with him!! 10/10 recommend!!
Glenn is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is an excellent teacher. He gives the most support of any professor I have had yet. He provides so many opportunities for you to succeed and excel in his class. If you put in the work it's easy to do well. His expectations are crystal clear, and he offers quite a few options for extra credit.
Such a kind professor, gave so much extra credit which was awesome. Attendace is not mandatory, but if you miss a certain amount of classes you have to take the exams in person. I recommend coming to class so you get to take the exam online and have it be open note
Very easy going professor who genuinely cares about his students. There were SO MANY extra credit opportunities.
Genuinely one of - if not the best professors I've ever had at Western. I took Race and Ethnic relations with him. Amazing in-depth lectures, equal time given to different demographics in this country (Black Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, latin Americans, European Americans, etc). Well structured class and very accommodating grading.
