He is a very poor prof. His lectures were off topic and were rarely focussed. He was interested more in pleasing the feminists in the class than he was about communicating the material. He was a typical crowd pleaser lacking and substance.

He is an amazing lecturer, although he didn't post his notes online or make anything available online, so missing classes complicates things if you don't know anyone in the class. Although the textbook was how I covered for missed classes.

Wilkinson is an amazing lecturer, his classes are always engaging. Make sure to not miss class, as no lecture notes are online. I took this class for an options class as I love history, and it was amazing. However, the tests were decently difficult so make sure to study lots. Overall he's a great prof who will never fail to make you laugh.

Dr Wilkinson's classes are interesting, challenging, and rewarding. More than any of the profs in the department he challenges your views and assumptions about history and encourages the spirit of inquiry. Attending lectures, taking notes, reading the textbooks a must, as well as going to office hours for research paper feedback. Great class!

Professor Wilkinson certainly loves history and you can tell through his lectures. He has a lot of character and passion for the subject and he always starts off the class with some good music. He is very understanding and super willing to help when you go to his office hours. Exams are also straightforward and great, 10/10 for sure.

Wilkinson is a great professor if you're willing to put in the work. I have taken 4 of his classes and have found him to have high, yet fair standards for what constitutes an A paper. What makes him great are his lectures, flexible due dates and his approachability outside of class.

This class would've been better if he wasn't teaching it. He seems like a nice guy but gets so distracted and rambles off for more than half the lecture. He's also very loud and enthusiastic, which is sometimes nice in a prof... but with him it became annoying. Trying not to take another class with him if I don't have to.

*HTST 545 Guerrilla Warfare - Dr. Wilkinson is a fantastic professor. His classes are challenging, engaging and rewarding. Seminar structured with a weekly roundtable where we informally presented our research for our term paper, followed by a discussion of a book/text we read that week. Stay on top of readings and research and you will do well!

Incredibly knowledgeable about the subject matter, offered lots of opportunities to test understanding through weekly quizzes and a variety of papers. Approachable and humorous but definitely not advisable to miss any lectures as the themes consistently came up across quizzes. Utilized his TA very well and was very available for extra questions.

I loved Wilkinson, very fun prof with lots of energy and care about the topics he's teaching. Does tend to ramble or go off on tangents, and goes over time for classes often but overall is very engaging. He also gives very good feedback when you ask him questions about assignments. Go to every lecture because he doesn't post slides

Dr. Wilkinson did not seem to particularly care about this class. His lectures were scattered, confusing, and difficult to follow. His grading took months and his attitude towards students was rude and condescending. Assignment and test outlines were confusing and he did not seem to care to help clear up difficulties. I would absolutely avoid.

Glenn Wilkinson is an amazing orator. He definitely keeps your attention the entire class, and is very passionate about what he teaches. However, for HIST 483 (World War I), 50% of your grade is determined by a 15-20 page research paper. So if you're comfortable with that, the class will be a breeze. Otherwise, pick another class.

I can see why Wilkinson has mixed reviews. Unbelievably engaging and highly in love with his own material, and as such, he is a difficult grader and has a vast amount of content to cover in short time. On the other hand though, he truly believes this is the best period in European history, and he absolutely convinced me by the end of the course.

Wilkinson has passion for his work, especially in this class. Very heavy on in-class participation. While assignments are few, Wilkinson's assignments are generally larger than average for the course level. The best parts of his classes are always the learning, and he teaches concepts very well. He's a tougher grader, but his classes are worth it.

His lectures are great but he is not someone that gives grace. Difficult exams and he doesn't post any notes at all - which shouldn't be allowed when I'm paying for a course. I did not like the course structure at all and regret taking the class - and I have taken history before.

Professor never posts lecture notes (so you must attend every class) and your final grade is entirely based on a midterm, final exam, and a 10 page essay. I've taken other 300-level history courses which usually consist of essays and quizzes, but this course is extremely difficult. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't majoring in history

Take any other history prof. I'm not sure what his issue is with posting notes but he gives narcissistic energy. Zero tolerance for taking pictures of notes too. Lectures are heavy and he goes over his time EVERY. CLASS. then gets mad when people pack up. There's so much information and I find he is way too specific when it comes to grading.

Love Wilkinson, took his 381 class last semester and taking 383 now and he's been my favorite professor by far. Midterm and final are not too difficult if you go to class and pay attention. Super entertaining lectures and very helpful in office hours. 12 page paper for a 300 level class is not as bad as it seems. You do good if you put in the work.

Awesome professor, his classes are very detailed and theres a lot of material covered, however if you focus on two or three topics and able to go into depth, you'll be fine on the mid term and final exam. Be ready to write long papers. He gives good feedback - if ur willing to put in the effort in, you will be fine. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Professor is arrogant, told the entire class to "stfu", and horrible teacher, lectures are either far too in-depth or far too vague to be cohesive + NO NOTES/RUBRICS (TA doesn't care too) Class never followed the schedule, materials never covered in class were assigned for the midterm examination despite not having a single lecture on the topic :(

I took HTST 483 with Dr. Wilkinson Fall 2024. Weekly quiz questions were equally based on tidbits mentioned in lecture, and small points from the textbook. I found Wilkinson to be a fair grader, and he is undeniably a passionate and hilarious prof. Highly recommend! - (Unless you struggle writing 15+ page papers.)

My view of Dr. Wilkinson has changed over the years. Yes, he is a brash. Maybe sassy is the right word? When I was a younger student, I was actually afraid of him because he came off as unapproachable. But- by GOD, no prof has pushed me like he has. I respect his honesty, his spirit, and his ability to engage students! This guy wants you to learn.
