Way TOO much reading...must read entire book to do well in class...daily quizzes...no papers...no tests...so must attend every class to pass...WAY TOO HARD for a GE art class
This guy is AWESOME! 1'st of all, you don't HAVE to read everything. I skim through the chapter than take the free online quiz which has most of the answers for the questions he uses. He has a great sense of humor and is friendly. You can't get away with missing many classes, but cmon you're paying to go to school, so go.
NOT HARD at ALL! First of ALL u don't have to read, just make lots of smart friends. Take online quiz and no tests no papers. Just get points everyday for going to class and clicking. You get to go to Museums for extra credit! However many u want!
possibly my best teacher this semester. class is easy and relaxed, VERY informal. you need to show up because you use responce pads daily for points (no tests or papers). many "opinion" questions with no wrong ansewr. lots of easy extra credit offered. fantastic class.
This teacher is sooo funny! I loved going to his class. He's really chill and he makes the class fun. You never have paper work or tests. You have quizzes everyday but they're easy if you just read. I definately recommend this class!
Zucman is the****. He is ****in easy as ****. even if u dont read..you have 30 seconds to find the answer in the book. and that foo is funny as hell. lol. no test, no hw, just use clicker to answer questions in class.
EASY TEACHER!!! however... he's kind of mean.. don't talk when he's talking!!!he stares at u...anyway...he likes to "Embarrass " people so when u take pixs for the ec..if u don't like it... send it to him for credit.. however mention to him "not to show this pix to the class" well..take nice pixs..cuz ur pixs will b up there n pplz will vote for it
This teacher is awesome! You learn a lot and have fun at the same time.
If you don't get an A in this class then you have to be the laziest person in the world. Expensive effin book w/clicker but there's no paper work at all, no real tests. Go to class and click. So much extra credit i wanted to hit someone
Really easy; he got kind of moody sometimes, and yelled at people who left early. He didn't give the final, which screwed over a lot of people whose grades depended on it. I probably wouldn't take him again if I had a choice.
The class seems like it would be easy but the questions that are graded everyday are very difficult. You NEED to be at every class and you need to read the book. Lots of extra credit though, by lots i mean hundreds of points
he gets mad if you ask questions. and gets mad easily, and is sorta sarcastic. all the curriculum is online..ans it all has to be turned in online it is confusing and sometimes you don't get credit for some stuff if you don't link it correctly. it is unnecessary to do all that for a GE class. too much work with all of the other classes we take
He's the best professor you could ever have. Unlike most professors, this guy is really enthusiastic about teaching and helping the students.
This teacher is the easiest teacher you will ever have. He is so funny and gave our class over 380 point of extra credit to earn. You seriously have to try and not get an A. You cant possibly not get an A unless you do nothing. The class was out of 1000pts and 750 points is an A which is really a C but an A in his class. He offers 1380pts total
It's life changing. You'll have a much greater appreciation for art.
very cool guy. class isnt that hard. i didnt even open the book, still got an "A". gives lots of extra credit. But didnt learn anything about visual arts.
This is a cool class and very differnt. He is an entertaining professor who loves what he does. This class is the only class I have never sleep threw. The only thing is there is all the work is done on the internet and it confused me a lot. To get and A stay on top of your work and try to make it to class to get your points.
Class is pretty chill, he often lets u do whatever u want! he really knows his stuff and loves teaching it. make sure you go to class clicker points can save you or kill you. you will spend alot of money in this class bcuz of all the museum visits and parking fees.(not including the gas money) other than that easy A.
Fun class. WIKI IS ANNOYING! The class itself is fun and intersting but everything is done on the wiki which is often slow, and down. LOADS of EXTRA CREDIT! Easy A.
Epic fail of a class. Never updates grades on time. Is very rude because when you leave him comments on the wiki, he picks and chooses the ones he wants to answer. An easy A yes, but very boring and bland. No tests, no text books are required. Museum visits are easy. Go with someone that can drive/read directions. Recreations are a PAIN.!!!11oneone
HORRIBLE class. More than nessecary required to pass. Everything is required to be done in pairs & most points earned outside of class. Never uses the book. TONS of money is spent on museaum trips not to mention it is close to impossible to coordinate schedules to go to museaums and do recreations when you work. Quite sarcastic and not open to ?'s.
Lets say just say he isn't hard. But having a such a huge class can create frustration. This class is a pretty expensive class. Buy 4 books and a clicker and you have to go to 7 museums, so thats gas and you usually have to pay to get into the museum. Overall, if he knows your name by heart, he loves you. And you will get an A. Personally, he sucks
Class is Expensive. Pay for Books, museum trips, gas money, photo recreations, clicker and registration. All of that cost money. Extra credit is making t shirt designs which cost money. This class is a money class. He sucks as a teacher, he is an old grumpy man actually, seems nice, but can be a total punk if he hates you. Don't take this class!!!
ART110 was arguably one of the most expensive classes I had to take, thanks to him. Lectures are extremely boring. DO NOT BUY THE BOOKS HE ASSIGNS! You would be wasting a LOT of money. You would have to answer clicker questions based on the books but the way he sets them up, you wouldn't need to have read the books anyway.
Hes cool...i enjoyed the class as long as you read and bring notes and go to museums its an easy A... i recommend making friends sitting with them to "aid" each other and then going with those friends to museums...i had a lot of fun!
I really enjoyed this class, but it depends on the individual. It's what you put into it. I thought the museums were really interesting and without this class, who would just go visit one on their own? I was lucky to have great "lab" partners to make it even more enjoyable. Lastly, Zucman's a great professor! He expects a lot from his students.
WORST CLASS. there are no tests but you have to go to 7 museums throughout the semester. he covers material in class that is so useless and bizare it is a waste of time to go but you have to go because of clicker questions. you also use wikispaces which is a very confusing website and when you ask for help he rudely tells you to use wikispaces.
His lectures were interesting at first, but then it gets old. He gives clicker questions frequently which do have an impact on your grade. You have to go to 7 art museums and do 4 photo re-enactments. He gives a lot of e.c.. He is rude sometimes if he detects laziness, and isn't helpful due to his large class size. This class is not for the lazy.
He is obsessed with the wiki. Learn it quickly or soon save your grade. As he said in class in a malicious tone, "Learn the damn wiki!" His lectures are boring. Clickers/attendance is crucial. DO NOT BUY ANY BOOKS. Make a wiki page even if you didn't do the assignment; might give free points because he can't check all wiki pages. DO TSHIRTS!1one1!!
Random but interesting class. Don't worry, everyone gets an A!
This guy is weird. very weird.
cheow!
I was looking forward to this class but the way Zucman presents it makes it the biggest joke. I get that he thinks by making us go out and do things that it will help us learn more, but its actually the opposite where out of 150 students only 20 take notes on his lectures that obviously push his own ideals.
MOST ECCENTRIC TEACHER EVER!! this guy is soooooooo wierd!!! buying the textbooks is an extreme waste of money. you have to go to museums so this class takes up your weekends. really easy, but really time consuming. Easy A, but seriously WIERD class.
Even though Zucman has his own uniqueness to him, this class will be the funniest class you will ever take at CSULB, you get to do weird stuff and get extra credit over 1000 points. Your grade consist of going to museums and taking pictures, one midterm open book and notes and thats IT! TAKE IT I RECOMMEND.
This class was very easy and very entertaining. I really looked forward to seeing what crazy lecture Zucman would cook up next. This class caused me to think about the world in new and interesting ways and it's very easy to pass the class, all u have to do is go to the museums and do the assignments. And there is tons of extra credit.
I don't get how anyone can not like Zucman. The wiki is one of the most simple websites around, and anyone who says otherwise must be borderline illiterate. (That means you can't read / write) I am one of the laziest, least motivated people I know, and I still got an A easily. With no books. No joke, 80% of your grade can come from extra credit.
ATTENTION ALL PEOPLE NEEDING A FINE ART GE: DO NOT TAKE ART 110! I've never had Zucman, but if you must take art110, TAKE HIM, don't take the stupid staff sections. Zucman will be worlds more interesting and scholarly than they are. If you don't have time to run around to museums and do writing assignments all the time, stay away from Art 110.
easy, fun, cool teacher
ignored my emails when he gave me a wrong grade, had to email head of the art department. museums were cool though. would never of gone on my own. has enthusiasm, but never really explained why we did the things we did. i felt lost, but it was fun.
Glenn is a really cool artsy guy. Goes off on tangents a lot though. Helpful stuidy sessions b4 midterms, no final!! SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT. really easy class, gets boring sometimes though, and hes kind of hard to follow at times. Have to go to three museums and mingle with others a lot! Also you have to do mini projects but they are easy.
Awesome professor. So much fun, so much extra credit. Wiki is confusing, but he's extremely helpful at his office hours. Really nice, totally cool guy to be around. Make sure you go to the midterm reviews. Only downside is working in groups, but the class overall is really cool and insightful. DOESN'T ANSWER EMAILS, HAVE TO CONTACT THROUGH THE WIKI
TAKE HIM!!! Easy A you can pass on extra credit alone. failed 2 out of 3 midterms still passed with above an A. attendace is not nececary he takes roll every other class. Lots of projects but they are super easy and worth a ton of points. He egts off topic a lt but he knows what he is talking about. A little excentric but DEFINITLY TAKE HIM
glenn is amazing!! my biggest suggestion is learn how to do the wiki from day 1..if u do that this class will be a pleasure for you to be in. tons of extra credit so there is no way not to get an A.. makes you get out there & experience things you wouldn't otherwise.. fun to take w ppl u know bc there are lots of group stuff.. TAKE HIM!! HE ROCKS!
easiest class i've taken this semester, but also the most interesting. you learn about life about life too. tons of extra credit. goes over the midterms before, and also gives you the questions before. i really enjoyed the class a lot. sometimes it was a drag to make time for the photocomps and museums, but overall it was easy. take this class!!!!!
Great guy Knows a lot about stuff gives out extra credit like crazy and his classes are very interesting. easiest class u can take!!!
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! sooo EASY!!! OK SO CLASS IS IN THE UT 108 THEATRE... SO ON TUESDAY YOU SIT ON THE STAGE AND GET IN GROUPS, MEET NEW PEOPLE, AND ON THURSDAY ITS SITTING OFF STAGE AND YOU JUST TAKE NOTES... NOTES ARE A MUST FOR MIDTERMS.... HE GAVE LIKE THREE MIDTERMS... U CAN BASICALLY FAIL ALL MIDTERMS AND STILL PASS FROM ALL THE X-TRA CREDIT!
This class was my favorite class this semester! At first I didn't like the whole going to the museums and doing the photo compositions in GROUPS but I made such awesome friends that way! On Tuesdays, you're on stage (you get to meet people!) and Thursdays are lecture days. Take this class, it'll be the most memorable one you'll have at CSULB!
It's a good thing the class is big so you can help each other out. The class is time consuming due to mandatory Museum (3) visits and photo compositions (3) and you MUST do it with 2+ people. Do NOT take this class if you have a packed week. Exams are simple If u read and took notes. No Finals. Lots of E.C. Overall nice guy. Makes you go to office.
This class was easy overall. Learn how to use the wiki though. There is 3 museum visits and three photo comps. Three midterms and no final! There is so much extra credit. Easy A.
This class was an easy class overall. Learn how to use the wiki though. There is 3 museum visits and three photo comps. Three midterms and no final! There is so much extra credit. Easy A.
I just could not get into this class. Museums were a tedious waste of time and it was not presented like a 100 level class at all. I was really dissapointed. That being said, Failed tests are easy to make up for.
This class is a lot of work! Like everyone said, you have to go to museums and do projects with people from the class and that can be hard. This guy is way cool though. He knows that most people in the class don't care about art history, so he makes it interesting.
If u dont have time to run around to museums and arrange time for group project den this is not the class for u.But this class is a lot of fun.You will be exposed to many intriging things that Glenn has to teach.it may b sumwut weird but those things have an affect on u.there r a load of ex credits to do tat exceeds the test pts so no worrys on tat
He accused me of lying when I was telling the truth. That right there just loses all my respect. I tried so hard to learn something from his class, but he would always go off on tangents and when I would listen really closely, I didn't really learn anything about art. Easy A, do as much extra credit as you can.
I love art, and this man knows a ton about it. I'd venture so far as to say that his classes are often inspiring. HOWEVER, I'm not a big fan of how obsessed with the internet he is. I still got an A without the wiki, but with a ton of work and extra credit. There's a lot to this class, but it's worth taking.
Definitely my favorite teacher this semester. He's worth taking even if you have no interest in art. Lectures are interesting, teaching style very eccentric, which makes him entertaining. His museum projects are fun because you'll probably wind up making friends along the way. Only hard parts are the tests -- be bold and unusual for success.
He knows his stuff. His classes and assignments vary; the museum trips aren't bad, and the reading assignments are pretty easy. Lectures get boring sometimes, but usually aren't too bad. But I would warn you that if you aren't good with computers, this is definitely not the class for you! Learn how to work the wiki, it is necessary to pass!
I HATE THIS CLASS! he is soo boring. his requirements are ridiculous for a 100 level class. I would consider it more of a photo class than an art class cuz all you do is go to museums and take pictures. which is a huge inconvenience... IF YOU HAVE A LIFE!!!
So Glenn is wonderful and Art110 rules but DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU"RE GOOD WITH COMPUTERS OR WILLING TO LEARN. Requires work on the internet. Starting Fall09 there will be NO MORE TEXT BOOK, ALL COMPUTER WORK. Please be prepared to become tech savvy if you're not already. Although we're ALWAYS available for office hours!!! Good luck guys!
Check out art110.wikispaces.com to learn about art110 and zucman
This class is really time consuming and you HAVE to work with groups and you can't do it alone which is really inconvenient and it's expensive because it adds up. We hardly used the books so Fall 09 is lucky to save a lot of money. He makes you sit on stage and it's really uncomfortable and you get in trouble because your not participating.
This is the worst class I've had yet at CSULB. You aren't allowed to work alone, ever. He tries to force his ideals on you and really doesn't like to hear opposing opinions. (In fact I think im failing because of it) It's way too much for a 100 level course. It's more like art theory and guess what he's thinking.
I cannot stand Art 110. My grade dropped because I didn't go to class one day and he docked me 35 points. 35 points? For one day? Oh come on, what if I was sick. He makes you sit on the stage and it's freaking annoying. I have no clue what he is saying. Nothing made sense to me.
This class was somewhat interesting. What I didn't like was sitting on the stage of the theater where the class barely fits. There are weekly group assignments, which counts toward participation. We had 3 midterms, with open notes, and a final that was just a party! He made us go to 3 museums, which was fun, and all the projects were also fun.
The class was time consuming but easy. You have to go to three museums and do two photo comps in groups. Sitting on stage is a little annoying but it does add to the class and you get to talk with your friends. The midterm questions are a little ambiguous and require you to think outside of the box but if you do bad he offers tons of extra credit.
Overall his class was pretty easy and there is tons and tons of extra credit opportunities. If you don't pass this class than it's your own fault. But he is a very weird person and can be sometimes hard to follow.
This class is the easiest one I've ever taken, if you fail this class then you're a complete idiot!! There are tons of extra credit!!
This class is amazing!! The people who compaint about this class are just patetic lazy prats!! You can only fail the class if you don't do anything, projects are not easy, but there's a lot of help available to you!
just, ugh
I am finally done with the semester and I am SO GLAD! I did all the projects, readings, lectures, discussions, and I hated it. Boring class, DON'T TAKE IT. It's not worth it even if there's no written exams. It's super time consuming. If you don't like Second Life or don't know what it is, DON'T take the class. LAME.
Glennzie's art class was ridiculous in the work demand. Sure, there's no final, midterm, or quizzes but the online projects, disc, lec, and museums were straight up boringggg and rigorous. If you want to stress yourself out and cry, take this class. Oh, and he never teleported me :(
This class has changed. I've talked to friends who've taken it in previous years...aka without the horrendous SecondLife assignments. The work load is ridiculous for a "Art Appreciation". If you have any art skills this class will drive you crazy. Do you know Flash or Maya? Guess what. You still have to learn a wannabe video game: SecondLife.
Currently I have over 100% by completing all my work. I didn't see any point in doing the audio readings. Museum trips this semester were not interesting. It is not very difficult, but it is very time-consuming. I hate this class, but I push myself to do everything efficiently..
He's an easy grader. my friend only listened to the first half of readings for a while and still got an A. I have an A+ and I BSed the writing assignments. Projects are fun if you like art, a bit difficult, type instructions as he goes cus he's fast and doesn't repeat himself. just don't leave everything to the last minute and you'll be ok.
This class was easy just there is alot of busy work that needs to be done. Its hard to get used to at first but you get the hang of it. GO TO THE MUSEUMS! and do EC. easy A. A little frustrating at times.
The class is easy... 6 projects (done in the physical and virtual world), about 12 readings, and some lectures. It has a lot of busy work, but it's easy so just do it and get the points. No exams or text books to buy (you listen to interviews he has done and do write-ups). I hate art and this class was not too bad ! I recommend him for sure !
This semester with Art 110 was pretty fun! It helps you meet a lot of new people. The class itself is pretty straightforward (and not too hard). There is a lot of busy work, but as long as you do not save it all to the last minute, you should be fine. The extra credit opportunities are fun!
Takes attendance 3 times, each worth 30pts. Lots of 'work'. If you like blogging then this class will be easy, if you don't, it's going to suck. Makes you go places (beaches/museums). Gives random/ridiculous extra credit.
Just too much work to do! Its an easy A but dont leave things until the last minute since there are a lot of readings. Go to the museums and beach projects because they make up a big portion of your grade. Oh one last thing, he uses Secondlife A LOT which was incredibly annoying.
I learned a lot from his class, though I was frustrated at times whenever he would change the syllabus. I actually enjoy going to musuems now and taking photos of myself that sometimes get the attention of security.
weird guy.. weird class its not a normal art class.. hes not the nicest guy, talk to his TA's instead. he gave me attitude everytime i asked him about my grade since it remained a zero for a few weeks. he kept putting it off everytime i asked him so i just went to the TA.
I was excited to start this class, but it was nothing I expected. He is so unclear on his instructions and focuses on using technology and SecondLife too much. If you need help it is much better to ask the TA's. I would not recommend this class unless you have the time to focus on it.
This class was horrible. I took it mainly because I needed it for my GEs, and I was expecting it to be fun but nope. It was an art appreciation class but in fact I left the class hating art. He had us use that stupid Second Life and was really unclear on assignments. His work left me with no freetime and little patience. I'm so glad it's over.
This is a fun class in the sense that you are really being opened up into the art world, the only problem is the amount of work and the clarity of the professor, it's hard to know about all the projects even though everything is on wikispaces, once you know though you get the hang of it, and the class becomes fun if you're a responsible person
This class is pretty easy most of the time, and would have been fairly fun if the teacher hadn't made us use Second Life so much. Second Life becomes very annoying and time-consuming. Also, he rarely mentions assignments in class -- you have to look on the wiki.
Takes up a bit of time, make sure u make friends!I had to go to venice 2x,downtown, pasadena, and a few others to see museums.Bring laptop or you will get bored. Easy A. The Wiki and 2nd life is time consuming, but easy when you get the hang of it. He is so passionate about Art!It was more of an internet art class. Made us use twitter.
Professor is not cool at all. Very time consuming class and unclear about how to do your projects and you have to travel quite a distance fOr some of the projects. Not good if you don't drive....
This class was a HUGE waste of time!!! I didn't learn anything about art. I just did a bunch of pointless busy work instead. Take a different instructor if you're serious about your education!
He wasn't helpful at all, his TAs are definitely more approachable. Zucman goes through the topics really briefly. Take some notes on each of the lecture, because that's a final project. Second Life and Wikispaces are very annoying, especially b/c your grade is based entirely on those two. Your grades should be fine as long as you do the projects
GREAT CLASS!!!!! But a lot of hard work put into it and technology going on. Second life, group projects, wikispaces profile, art gallery visits, fun, and art!
Geez, this guy is a character. The class should be called "Second Life 110" instead of ART 110. Second Life is a program with avatars. He is really into this and he teaches the class around avatar life and forcing you on Trips to the most random and far places in So Cal. Biggest waste of time ever at my history of CSULB.
Glenn is a misunderstood character. He tries to be different but most people do not seem to understand that concept. Yes, Second Life can be an annoying hassle. But everything required was clearly outlined on the Wiki. I was able to slack off in this class and still get a B. Your mileage may vary. Glenn is different in a good way. Take him!
A lot of busy work but hey if you didn't come to college to do work then you should not be here at all. Very easy material and there is TONS of extra credit.
So much homework and projects. No tests or final though. Really helpful if you ask him questions about the projects. Just don't ask him about your grade, talk to the TAs. Also be prepared when presenting and participate frequently. He likes that. Lots of extra cred.
I really don't understand why everyone is so against him, I mean he is just misunderstood but the TA's are awesome, so if glenn doesn't make any sense then just go to them! They are available through Facebook, person, e-mail, I am sure if you asked them for their number you could even text them! It's just based more on the individual to get that A
Awful. I didn't know this was a computer class about wikipedia and second life. I thought I was taking an art class. He should not be teaching. At least not about art. Which he doesn't teach about art anyway, so I don't know what they're paying him for. Can I have my tuition money back please?
I like how all of the ratings below discuss having to talk to his TAs about grades and assignment requirements. Sure it's great that his TAs are friendly and helpful. However, if the students have to talk to your assistants about everything, then you're NOT A GOOD TEACHER!!! Sounds like they should fire him and hire one of the assistants to teach.
awesome
Tries to be funny, when hes not. Tries to manipulate your mind in lectures. Also on the facebook, he gives you sarcastic answers, and doesn't even give you the answer to finish the project. Like, thanks. You made us join a facebook help group, that you don't help on.
Well at first it seemed very overwhelming...we do have thriteen projects over the semester renging from trips to the beach, vlogging about our reading, and te most daunting task of creating a virtual art gallery on Second life...in the end there is so much extra credit that you could not do a couple of the projects and still get an A. Very easy!
Possibly my favorite class of the entire semester. The projects were not difficult but they were tedious. Luckily the entire staff is almost always available to help. I would definitely recommend this class if you are a freshman and want to meet new people. you really get to bond with the whole class which is unlike any other class i've taken
If you are not a computer person then this is not the class to take. All of the projects except for 2 were done online in a virtual world, and it sucks. Glenn is fun but his projects are NOT! When he gives lectures they make you really think and those are cool.
EASY A!! He is really nice and philosophical, if your confused with his class don't just label him, TALK TO HIM. He likes it when he pleases the student, so be nice. The TAs are also helpful. There are like 7 of them. So, if you get a bad grade on something their ok with changing it.
Easy class, if you're interested even the slightest in art and have an open mind then you will love this class. It's definitely not like any other class I had ever taken at csulb, so it was a welcomed change. My only gripe was that a good portion of the grade came from having to use a program called Secondlife, which has a very steep learning curve.
such an easy class with interesting lectures. i encourage you to get involved and break out of your shell in this class. a lot of extra credit so anything lower than an "a" just means you shouldn't be in the university
GREAT CLASS! Easy A. This class is a no brainer. Our class was totally unconventional and it was very refreshing. If you need/like traditional style of teaching and like high school structure classes; you may not like this class. To be honest though..if you fail this class you shouldn't be at a University. Must be computer savvy, but who isnt?
Honestly this class is ridiculously easy! If you don't get an A shame on YOU! Don't expect to do any type of hands on project during class time. Everything is done on your own time and must be turned in online. He has TA's who help him grade so as long as you show effort you'll get full credit points. Overall it was an interesting and fun class.
Changed the class format a couple times throughout the semester, comes down to doing 3 projects though. He has good intentions to have you express your art and make you take pride in it but cannot always be relatable to everyone. The format changes were rather annoying but not too much of i biggy in retrospect. Work will be put in to receive an A
PROS- NO TEXTBOOK or ATTENDANCE required. Not as difficult as it seems! CONS- changed his syllabus format about 4 times the entire semester. Was not clear about what he expected from the class projects. 3 group projects that suck! U end up doing all the work so choose group wisely.
This is definitely an easy class. Come to class every Tuesday for clicker questions, write clicker questions for extra credit EVERY week, theres no way you can't get an A in this class unless your lazy and you refuse to do work and expect to have your A handed to you. Extremely easy class, projects are simple if you TRY to get full credit.
Professor is really passionate about art, but the same can't be said about the students which I think irritates him. I think the fact that it's a giant lecture without much direct communication makes them lose interest. The class is easy, and there are a few field trips. The ambiance is great, and it's nice that the class is unorthodox and unique.
During my time as a student around 80 percent of my classes have had irrelevant class sessions, and this is the epitome of that. This instructor does the predictable by grading you on clicker points for questions no one even reads online, (clickers are main tool used by instructors to give students reason to show up). This class is terrible but easy.
This is very interesting class. The professor is very helpful and he gives good grades as long as you do your job. He respects students and every students work. I took online course and it's highly recommended!
This class was such an easy A, but it was a lot of fun. It was great for the summer, because we are still able to learn and earn credits, while still enjoying the summer. Great class with a Great professor!
Nice guy, pretty easy class.
Super easy class. The only thing is that attendance matters, but if you got a friend then you're golden. You meet a lot of new people. I never had to try in this glass. It's fun!
My favorite class this semester. A lot of extra credit offered, so it's impossible to fail. Glenn is such a chill guy to hang out with and he's there for you if you need him. Take this class. I promise you won't regret it.
easiest class ever , easy A as long as you up, but pretty pointless. dont expect your typical art class because its not, he's kinda crazy and shows you a bunch of random videos. Show up on tuesdays * tip :show up towards the end of class. and thursday you only need to go to art galleries talk to someone and take a few pics and you're done .
I enjoyed this class because Professor Zucman was really engaging and made the Art 110 class criteria completely out of the box. Class grades is mainly based off of 3 online blog posts, attendance, and an easy activity final. If you are looking for an interesting way to view and appreciate art, take this class.

Simply A-MA-ZING. The BEST, memorable, and meaningful final you'll ever take. NO TEXTBOOK REQUIRED; NO NEED TO BUY TICKETS FOR ANYTHING. YES HAVE A LOT OF FUN; YES SUPER EASY CLASS. Gotta smile when looking back at this class. :)
Glenn Zucman structures his class in a unique manner: half of your time will be spent outside the lecture hall- in the art galleries. Grades are based on weekly blogs as well as completion of art activities outside of class. Guaranteed A and you will get in touch with your creative side. Easily one of the most interesting classes at CSULB.
There is going to be three blogs per week. It mostly requires you to go out and do stuff outdoors so maybe it is a little bit hard for people who don't drive but other than that, if you do your assignments its easy to get full credit and even if you miss some classes or blog posts he has extra credit options so that will help you too!
3 blogs / week include: artist & classmate conversations (done on thurs) and an activity. You will be blogging these three up on your website and that's basically your easy A. He offers tons of extra credits that could boost you up one letter grade. The final is a group scavenger hunt. Lecture on Tues is on Periscope (watch it @ home if you want).
3 weekly posts which can be tedious since he is very nit picky about how you do things. This class is extremely easy if you're willing to put in the effort. But if you're feeling lazy fear not because there's a lot of extra credit opportunities. Class can be fun but most of the activities aren't really "art" projects which is disappointing...
Three blog posts every week. Really just have to show up for group work for one class and artist conversation the other. Not difficult by any means. Time spent on the course was minimal.
I took professor zucmans art 110 online class (you have a handful of option meetings which I recommend going to because they are Fun). Each week you have a couple of short videos to watch & discuss; also have 1 activity that you have to complete and write about. Glenn is an awesome & inspiration teacher. Highly recommend for art filled summer
Loved this class. Every week is a new small art project which are always fun to do (ex. graffiti art with spray paint, making molds of your hands and feet). All you had to do was write what you did in a blog post, super easy. He gives so many opportunities for extra credit that it is impossible to get a grade lower than a B.
Easiest A EVER! Especially since he basically offers EC every other week! It's a hybrid class so you show up to class once a week & do classmate and/or artist conversation & blog about it on WordPress. Usually there's another activity to along with it & there's always 2 discussion posts on Beacharts. Easy class but felt like a drag after a while.
This art class was not what I expected. I figured we would do a bunch of art projects in class but no. Basically he assigns a art project you do it but instead of turning it in you post and blog about it. Spend most weeks going to galleries seeing other artists work. Its an easy A its just a lot of at home work. Not bad does give interesting insigh
He doesn't believe in exams but gives a lot of busy work .The toughest things about this class is that it is very disorganized at the beginning & it's very easy to lose points on the work he gives;he does give A LOT of extra credit though. He's a very nice man but a lot of the points you receive are based on attendance & he doesn't excuse absences.
His lectures are pretty boring, but it's not that bad. No textbook nor exams, but a lot of works (2 3-paragraph essays on 2 different artists and 1 art activity every week for the 10 middle weeks). As long as you do your works, you'll get an A. If you're not an art person, you'll lose (for me a lot) money on the materials for art activity.
Glenn is passionate about art and the impact it has on people. He wants to spark that flame with his students. Theres a lot of busy work to do but its easy. Heres the run down: his projects were fun, he takes attendance, offers extra credit, and his lectures are kinda boring. Hes a good person though, I appreciate him. You go Glenn Coco.
Glenn is a very chill dude, but he does give a lot assignments every week. Cool projects. Easy grader. Easiest A I have ever gotten. Class consists of 3 things every week: one paper on a famous artist, one paper on a student artist, and one art project, always due on Sundays. Nice guy just too much writing for an art class.
Only 10 weeks of work in middle of semester: an art activity & student artist write up on your website due Sunday nights. Attendance is mandatory? Just turn in a drawing on an index card. The projects were fun & artist write ups were easy. Many opportunities for extra credit to take advantage of, if needed. Very passionate and cool teacher. Easy A.
Cool dude. Not expected this for art class. Lots of busy-work. More like writing class.
Easy A if you just show up to class as it is mandatory and do the assignments each week. He goes off on tangents occasionally about the assignments. Some of the projects and activities were fun to do. Artist essays were repetitive, but manageable. This is good class for people who are interested in art and wants to get in to it.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. He is so chill and understanding. But you have to do the work. He grades you more based on effort rather than how good your art is. Art essays every other week but are fairly simple and straightforward. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. HE IS THE BEST.
Glenn is such a nice and good professor. It is a very easy class. If you do the weekly assignment he assigns you will get an 100 percent on that assignment. He is super sweet guy and I definitely recommend you take him!
Profesor Glenn is very fun to take. There is a art s every week as well as discussions which he gives you til Sunday to complete. There is a couple essays throughout the semester but nothing too hard. class is not mandatory because he post assignments online and gives a good explanation of what to do.
He is a fantastic professor, super supportive during covid, and seems like a genuinely great person. Class is fun, very easy, just a couple simple tasks due sunday 11:59 every week. they would take me about 15 min to not even an hour to complete. there are a couple 'papers', literally 4 paragraphs, throughout the semester too. 10/10 recommend. :)
His work is very easy. Very easy to pass. Not much drawing included. It was more of creating art but digitally.
a really easy class with new projects each week. do the project and do research about the artists of the week. Do the assignments and you'll get full credit! Assignments take about 1 hour to do, so it goes by really fast. Extra credit opportunities are also given if you decide not to do an assignment
Really fun and easy class! Blog post due each week, few essays scattered throughout the semester, and discussion posts due each week. Overall, a great class! Professor really cares about what he is doing, and he is super to talk to.
I took the career/portfolio class, which was really neat. Had to make new work every other week, network, and eventually create our own portfolio website. This class gave lots of insight on how the career market really is and how to realistically prepare for it. Glenn was super nice and so helpful throughout the course. I'd recommend!
The career/portfolio class was really eye-opening. Intense workload, but Glenn was super helpful. Learned a ton about navigating the art career market. unstuck AI was great for prep work. Highly recommend this class.
Worked on a professional web portfolio. Textbook was an easy read on how to put together resumes, cover letters, and interview prep. Glenn's a fountain of knowledge/information, gave lots of feedback/insight on figuring out our post BA career path. Class sessions were pretty much an hr long pep talk. Wish there was more student participation though
His “lectures” are all over the place. He goes off tangent A LOT. Also, for an art teacher, he sure does discourage people from pursuing a career in the arts. He does help you put together a clear and concise bio + elevator pitch, so that's something.
