She's a great teacher. Makes Political Science actually interesting. There is a group project, but it's not bad. I'd definitely recommend her.
Glenna is really cute and full of energy! She speaks very loud and clear. She has good lectures but also talks about current events. She is also very knowledgeable about her subject matter. I would recommend her!
very fun class... even if you're not into politics... take good notes... if you don't like reading (like me), make sure you study the bold prints in the books... she is highly recommended.
She has such a great energy...about Poltics. I learned so much in her class. On a subject that I was absolutly clueless,I now feel confident discussing the subject. Reading is important for tests, don't wait till the last minute to go to a political meeting
Great teacher. Really fun and interesting class. Read the chapter and know the vocb. in each chapter so it might help you for tests. Makes class fun
Imagine Jenny McCarthy teaching Political Science. Good class, good teacher.
She is the best teacher, because her lectures were never boring. I have never seen a teacher talk sooooo fast and soo much with soooo much energy. There is a lot of reading and lots of lecture notes, but do good on the project and paper, and you will B ok.
says half the test comes from her lectures which is untrue. didnt read the book or study and got a C because took no interest in this boring class. annnoying lectures and talks about her kids way tooooo much.
I looked forward to going to class weekly. Glenna has a lot of energy that draws you into the subject matter. Like most classes, you need to pay attention in lecture and know bold terms to = good grade. Lectures are a GOOD balance of content and comic relief!!!
She is way hot and smart. I highly recommend her
Glenna was a delightful instructor, it is no surprise her rating here is so high. She made political science interesting and engaging. Her lectures were easy to follow, and her enjoyment of politics and teaching made for an entertaining learning experience. This instructor is highly recommended.
Maybe the best Prof at Saddleback. Energy & enthusiasm can't be beat. Takes a dreaded subject & makes it interesting. So glad I took her. {but, the Jenny McCarthy lookalike comment - NOT].
Great class teacher is so nice lets class out early, one group project one paper no homework!
Surprisingly fun class! She's energetic, smiles often, very fun! The best part is she doesn't push her opinion like so many professors I have had in the past, I still don't know where she stands. Tests really are from lecture & book*read the bold. You learn a lot of gov't interesting hidden facts!
Talks too fast, tries to give too much information, tests are too hard and confusing. Assigns too many books for this subject -- 3 in total. She's very perky -- but not in the good way. She's annoying as all hell.
Great teacher, very nice and helpful. Loved her interest in current events. If you need to take this class, this is the best teacher.
She is a delightful instructor, although her exams are quite intimidating. In order to recieve an A you have to do all the reading and pay attention to her lectures, pretty standard class midterm, final, and 2 projects. This class could be a great time for someone with an open mind.....
wicked awesome teacher. Rely pulls you into the subject and connect eith the students.
I would not reccommend this class for anyone who is not a Ps major,if you're like most people forced to take it to complete GE. take it with someone else,i got an F in it,i wont blame the professor for it,but her class requires alot of work and i suggest u dont go through with the hassle if u dont have to,there is alot of easier PS classes on campu
very goo teacher, but given the time in class this is alot of information in an hoours time. do the math... overall a very good teacher, very nice looking
Pieri is a great teacher. She knows what she is talking about all the time and is more than happy to help if you are lost. The material is not hard but if you don't do the reading and don't show up to class you'll probably fail. I was never once bored but after the first test learned to study hard for her tests. She's great.
2 words...cut throat. Don't take her.
Great class, keep up on the reading and you’ll do fine. Professor looks like Sheryl Crow; it makes going to class easier, though it makes it tougher to concentrate.
nice but not too clear tests very hard
Smart and hot. I loved going to class. :) Keep up on the reading and do your work. You'll be fine.
Hot teacher, pretty easy, boring at times
Prof. Pieri brought an interest and a passion to Political Science that gave me a greater curiousity to the subject. It was enlightening to find, in my second bout as a college student. It is very unfortunate to discover she will not be teaching in the summer or fall semesters as her teaching style is a quality not often found in others.
She is a crack up! Very passionate about teaching and life. Only downfall is you need to be in class to get notes and you feel guilty if you dont attend her class. TAKE HER!
She is very outgoing. She makes class fun by talking about current news in the beginning of each class and sometimes stories.(some about her kids) The tests are pretty difficult. 2 tests and 1 final. Also you have a research paper (easy) and a political meeting to attend with a write up (easy). So it basically almost makes up for the tests. :)
I'm taking her PS1 class right now and love it! She always has stories and wants her students to get involved. Her tests are a little difficult- so make sure you do the required reading!! 50% is from the books- She does curve the tests though, which helps a lot. I hate this subject and I find myself in her class every day which is rare. TAKE HER!!!
test are impossible...the slides mean nothing and do not help at all don't even take notes not even worth it so don't even pay attention. if you don't have a book your screwed nothing makes sense without it and you'll fail
I took this class over 8-weeks and I'm glad I did. As long as you remember a current event each day she will love you. Almost no homework, test questions come from her lectures. The only bad thing I can say is that she assigns a group project that counts for alot of you grade. You don't get to pick your group and she stuck me with 3 slackers.
She is a straight forward professor. If you tend to have a bad history of attendancy then I dont recommend you this professor. I love her lecture. It has never been boring. Read your book and take your note carefully because all of the test questions are coming out from them. She will have guide for each test. She also curves class grade.
Very clear and very knowledgable. She explains the tougher parts very well and is definietly willing to help. One group current event project and a few tests and your golden. Give her a current event to talk about every day and she'll love you!
Love, love, love her! She is so fun and cute, and really made class interesting. My favorite teacher at Saddleback, and my favorite class. I'm not a poli-sci major, but she makes everything so easy to understand. Just come with a current event, and you're good to go. Plus, she curves everything!
really nice lady, pretty easy class. you get a good grade as long as you write the paper and do the project.
She is great, the classes are fun and she has a lot of energy! I could look at her all day too which doesn't hurt.
Has a lot of energy!! She side tracks off subject and by the time you know it the class is over and she didn't lecture. Which means you have to spend time at home reading the book, because she didn't go over anything on the study guide for the test. One group presentation, a experience paper. She's really nice though and doesn't take attendance muc
I'm in her class now, and I might have to take her again!! She is really hard, and the study guide is useless! She is nice and cute, but as far as trying to pass the class,That is a whole nother story. Take someone else.
i just failed this class. she's really pretty and super sweet just she doesn't really teach...she talks about her kids and the news, but uh that's not what we are being tested on. the very first test i took great notes, but didn't really study the book. maybe five answers were in my notes. you have to read the book and it's soooo boring!
I liked her. She's cute and funny and super high strung. You have to study for the tests and take good notes. Write down stuff that she says about the lectures and powerpoints. All the PPs are on blackboard. I enjoyed the class and I consider her a chill teacher.
GREAT teacher. She explains things multiple times, is willing to answer questions, and engages the audience with info relative to them. I was so sad when the class ended! YOU HAVE TO READ. She even gives you study guides but you need to actually look hard for the info, it is all there though! Go to class too, you will be tested on that stuff.
She makes class fun by talking about current news and sometimes stories. Best PS class hands down. 2 tests and 1 final. Also you have a group presentation, and a political meeting to attend with a write up (both easy). Go to class because the majority of the test material is her lecture.
This class is really not all too difficult, we did have a group project that wasn't hard at all, just pick a current topic to discuss. The tests were not horrible, the study guide was useful but READ THE BOOK! she does not remind you of this, the chapters are all on the syllabus. Overall, she was nice.
She is nice and her class isn't that bad to sit through, but her tests are really hard..i'm majoring in political science and love it and got a B in this class. Attendance isn't mandatory.
Class can be a joke sometimes. She'll go on for half a lecture talking about current events and will procrastinate on the lecture for the last 20 min of the class XD. Her class is fun sometimes. It is easy! I didn't do the reading and I got an A on all her exams by doing the study guide. She also curves your grade! Easy class. Oh and she's hot!
Great class. No homework. 3 tests. 1 presentation. 1 small 2 page paper. Easy.
Very passionate about politics and it becomes infectious. As she herself said "I don't know why kids don't love politics, it has all the scandals, the lies, and the affairs that reality tv has!" Loved having her and will never forget her class. Take her.
Not my favorite class. Tests were extremely hard & i'm a straight A student. Hard to get even a B on the tests. Her study guides aren't useful or clear at all and have nothing to do with the material she lectures on. She won't answer questions on the study guide either. Liked her class, but don't recommend her, find another professor if possible.
I do not recommend this teacher. Cons: Goes off on tangent. Always off topic.( except last 20minutes of class. Goes on chit chats. Students don't help either. One of the bad republican teachers. "like OMG teacher". grades on 4 tests which are SUPER HARD. Projects and barely any HW. Pro's: Nice. chatty. helpful.
Fun personality, but unfortunately that doesn't make her a good professor. Study guides are very unclear and she will not help you if you're confused on them. She gives her lectures with a lot of enthusiasm, but is rushed & doesn't cover a lot of material that is on the test. Class average was a D on test, but she curved the class. Do not recommend
MY FAVORITE TEACHER! she is just the sweetest and most passionate teacher i have ever had! I went in to the class with ZERO interest and I left with a completely different mindset. Her power points are clear and to the point and she makes it very understandable for those who know nothing about politics. DEFINiTLY TAKE HER CLASS! love her <3
Her lectures are powerpoints with only the 25% of the content you need for the test. The other 75% is stuff she verbally tells you but she talks so much that its often hard to write down the key points. You cannot ask her questions about the study guide because she will tell you that you shouldve listened. I had perfect attendance. Extremely unhel
Professor Pieri is an extremely caring individual. She is there and willing to help if you need it! While her power points don't offer enough information by themselves if you attend class and jot down notes, it makes studying for the exams(which are multiple choice and essay questions) so much easier. Curves the entire class. No hw 5 online-quizzes
Professor Pieri is an awesome teacher, I had no interest in taking this class but had to to meet requirements. She made it fun and bearable and she is easy to look at as well. Used an online book that I did not care for but she explains what your tests will look like and she gives you that exact test so its easy to study for. Excellent teacher!
She's a great teacher who's passionate about her work. She kept the class interesting. The book we used was online and the system, although it looked nice, was not very good. It made it very difficult to study and it was very frustrating. Her power points had no substance to it, but it was her lectures that had all the info. Listen hard.
attendance does not matter. one (easy) paper and 4 tests. the tests seem easy at first because it is all vocab but then grades arent what you expected. she does not let you review the scantron with the correct answers so i never improved on tests or knew what i did wrong. she gives you the cumulative questions that will be on the final.
The tests are really easy if you put a little effort into studying. She puts the power points on bb before the class so all you have to do is print it out in order to follow along with the lectures. The final project is a joke and she always manages to make the topics fun. I seriously recommend her!
Great upbeat professor! Super happy and nice makes boring subject like Political science fun. Test are not easy though so make sure to use the study guide and actually study!
Makes class interesting with current events, talks quickly through lectures suggest recording her lectures if you can't keep up. Tests are right off her study guides. Easy points given for attendance/ hwk/ political experience paper. Hardest part was the Final! Take notes throughout class & ask questions so your not playing catch up on exam days.
I literally love Mrs. Pieri she is very enthusiastic, funny, and a pleasure to be around. She takes her job very seriously and is extremely helpful when you are stuck and encourages everyone. THE ONLY THING I WOULD CHANGE ABOUT THE COURSE IS HAVING ANSWERS TO THE STUDY GUIDES AND FREQUENTLY MISSED QUESTIONS SO WE CAN BETTER PREPARE FOR TESTS !!!!!!
I took the hybrid class which is once a week, lectures and quizzes are on BlackBoard. There is also an e-book you have to purchase which generates the two online midterms. Since these tests are generated by the book they will ask random, nonsensical questions which didn't really sway her. The final is made by her which is the study guide verbatim.
Professor Pieri really made me enjoy political science. Her class encouraged me to keep up with the debates and the presidential election. I was enrolled in her hybrid class. Online lectures are followed by short quizzes. I really enjoyed the in class group assignments. The tests were not easy, be prepared to read the book if you want to pass them.
Prof. Pieri is awesome! She helped me understand the election process and all of its flaws. She predicted everything that would happen with the election each week and she made learning this awful stuff fun and easy. The ebook generated tests were tough, and she's working to fix that. If you hate poli-sci, (like me) this is the right class for you!
She is so funny and is so passionate about politics. She is really funny and relates back to her students. I took her hybrid class so it met once a week and all the work was online. Easy lecture videos with quizzes after, the first 2 tests are hard, but the final she makes is basically the study guide, except for some questions. Take her!
She is the "Kelly Ripa" of Political Science. She is hilarious and so bubbly. Not once did I see her in a bad mood. On the downside, the lectures were nonrelated to the course work. Constantly talked about the Presidential Election. Just know that the first two tests are hard and the final is easy! You'll pass. Read if you want to pass the 1st two.
Such a wonderful person!! SO sweet and cares about her students. Make an effort to get to know her and you won't regret it, I promise. Class is not too hard, she is lovely!
Grading criteria is not clear. She had to clarify to the entire class about the grades because they did not represent what was on the syllabus. Be careful of that. Likeable teacher otherwise.
Awesome teacher, especially during this years Presidential Debate. 2 exams and Final. Weekly activities on blackboard, which are around 10 videos(10mins or less)and questions to answer each week. Talked about the debate every week and what was going on in the news. Watched hilarious videos about the debate. Encourages students to find news/videos.
I loved her class, but as a hybrid you only had to go once a week for an hour and I feel like it wasn't enough. I would've liked in person lectures more. She's very interactive and current events with her are always sparking good discussions. An $80 online cengage membership was required that we only used a handful of times. 2 at home tests.
SHES AWESOME. Super nice and understanding. She's the type of professor that wants you to succeed. If you take the class seriously, do what she says, and don't miss a class, its most likely she's holding your hand the whole way through the semester.
Pieri is definitely a solid professor. She's super energetic and has some good things to say. Her hybrid (lecture and online) class was relatively easy. Not too much work, the tests were difficult though. Would recommend.
One of the best professors I have ever had! never thought I would enjoy Political Science but I actually loved her class and thought it was super interesting! She is hilarious, kind, intelligent and passionate of the subject. The lectures are very interesting! Lots of energy. Pretty easy, as long as you put in effort you should get an A. Take her!
She is very smart and an engaging teacher. She does an amazing job at being unbiased, unlike most teachers (especially for an American gov class). She tells the truth and sets things straight. Didn't use the book, just do the online quizzes every week (pretty easy), show up to class, and do the study guides for the online tests & you will do great!
She's amazing! Highly recommend.
She may be entertaining, and isn't partisan, but her teaching methods are awful. For our exams, she gave us vague study guides which only had a select number of terms that we never went over in lecture. The lectures are pointless, even if they are entertaining. All exam questions are based on the textbook. Gives vague multiple choice questions.
This was a half online and half in class PS1. Prof Pieri is the sweetest woman and she really made this class enjoyable. I would recommend her over any other political science professor for sure. There were 2 exams and one final, no discussion boards, and weekly homework questions that were super easy and could finish in half an hour.
So awesome!! I took the hybrid class, best choice of my life! I wish I could take her class again. Love her lectures and she doesnt push any type of political agenda, she keeps it neutral which is great. TAKE HER!!! You can easily get an A and her class is so enjoyable Recommend to EVERYONE!
She made political science so much more interesting than I thought! I am so glad I listened to all of her reviews on here because she really is an awesome teacher. She is very straight to the point and full of information, her lectures tended to get a little boring but she still managed to make everyone laugh to get the energy back up.
best teacher ever
Pieri has a very energetic presence that is refreshing. She TRIES her best to remain neutral in order not to influence students, but I would have preferred her views upfront. You show up, chat about current events, and take notes. That's it. 2 tests, 1 super easy outside paper, and an online final. The course really is a basic intro to government.
She was a pretty good professor. She was very sweet, and we would have really interesting discussions at the beginning of class. The lectures were pretty boring, but hey what lecture isn't? The tests were sort of hard, as the study guide was pretty vague. Don't worry though, because the finals very easy and theres a very simple paper to do.
Highly recommend her Hybrid class. online lectures only took 1 1/2 hours each week, and easy questions after gives you easy points for your grade. She is so clear regarding expectations and with each test, will gladly help if you just ask. gives you points for showing up to class once a week for an hour. Loved it.
Pieri was the best. All tests were online for the hybrid (although the final was supposed to be online). Lectures online covered the quizzes, the readings and study guides covered the tests. She is hilarious, and enjoys talking to her class about what is going on in the world. This is the teacher you should take for Political Science, hands down.
took the hybrid class, go to class on tues. and take about six-ten (very short) quizzes due by sun. midnight- quizzes dont take no more than 30 minutes once you figure it out. just show up to class for easy points. definitely recommend hybrid class for someone who needs the PS credit & want an easy class! best professor ive ever had!!
Show up and do the reading and youll pass. One of the best professors Ive had at this school, she truly cares about her students and if you dont understand a concept, shell take her time to explain it to you until you understand. Definitely recommend!! Fun class and fun professor!
Her class actually makes the subject of politics palatable.
Prof. Pieri is very knowledgeable in Politics and is always very up to date with what's happening in this world. I took her hybrid class and really enjoyed it. Just make sure you keep up with the homework given each week (due Sunday nights) and you should do very well in the class. 2 online exams and an in-class final which are fairly easy.
Professor Pieri is awesome! She is very upbeat and excited. The class I took was a hybrid class, so some was online and we met once a week. For homework, we read from the textbook, watched lecture videos online (there were multiple videos broken up into shorter bits), and took 2-3 question quizzes on each video. Exams were online besides the final.
If you enjoy the kind of teacher that is charismatic and funny but doesn't do anything to prepare her students for exams take Pieri. Get ready to go in to class to watch this woman talk about the news and her kids non stop, doing everything except teaching the testable. Mandatory that you show up to her ''lectures'' and you will have to read lots
The way the class was set up: you do all of the actual work online (quizzes, discussion boards, etc) and for in class all you have to do is show up. She had no lecture, but we would discuss current events or things that related to whatever we were studying. Lots of extra credit opportunities, and is very upbeat. Study guide for exams is okay.
As someone whos passed the NMLS exam, I can say she is very deceptive in her multiple choice set up. I saw kids who were brilliant in her class fail at the tests horribly. As for me, I studied 12 days in advance for her final without really giving myself much of a break and I only got a 72. She is deceptive and great at wasting ALL of the classtime
Professor Pieri makes the frustrating subject of politics fun and interesting ! The class is pretty easy aside from the tests. Tests arent weighed very heavily. I got a C on all 3 tests and got an A in the class. Tests are taken in class, extra credit is available. Shes very nice!!
Super entertaining teacher. Gives a cool perspective on politics. Her tests in class are hard but the online tests are incredibly easy and will bump up your test grade. I got a 84,88,78 on the in class tests and still received an a. make sure you make flash cards and read the text book. Do not just look up the definitions on the study guide.
If you're taking PS1, there's way more better professors out there. Her hybrid class was a waste of time. She talked the whole class period on current events and we never talked about the online homework and quizzes. Her exams are actually hard because we never discussed the topics in class. I ended the class with an 89 and she did not round up.
I took hybrid class- online homework was super easy. Many are saying her tests were hard, but she gives a study guide, and test questions are only from the SG. Textbook is free and online (which makes finding study guide answers EASY)! I had no problems with this class, very enjoyable relaxed class! Take her if you need PS credit!!!
Easy A if youre on top of it. Took hybrid class until the Rona hit, the fully online. Each week is video mini quizzes that are easy points. Exams are based on reading and the only place your grade can potentially take a hit. She provides study guides though which basically guarantee you an A if you have that material down. No gimmicks. 10/10 Rec.
This teacher is a joke, irresponsible and ignorant. Definitely the worse teacher I've ever experienced for sure. I don't know why she's a teacher if she doesn't have the motivation or even helps her students pass. Takes 4 whole business days to reply when her syllabus states 48 hours. She needs to go back to teacher training.
Prof Pieri is the sweetest professor I have ever had. She allows each student the freedom to express their own opinions in a safe zone and grades fairly regardless of personal bias which is difficult for plenty of political science professors. She also makes her quizzes extremely easy (open note) however do not be fooled, you must study for exams!!
Her tests are so intentionally difficult it's crazy. Nearly each question is designed as a trick question and the worst part is, they're all "all of the above except" or "none of the above," and you only have an hour or a minute per question. Her quizzes are set up confusingly as well. This is not a straightforward class at all take someone else.
She killed my GPA; first B. Do not miss any work, does not allow for late work. Test are based on study guide.
The Good: I felt safe sharing my political opinions. Her small video lectures are pretty good. The Bad: She has 3 no-note proctored exams that have vague questions/answers. The study guides she gives for exams are basic. No late work is accepted. I took her at Coastline, but much is similar in her course to what I've seen here. Don't recommend her.
Take this class. Your homework is watching her short video lectures and answering 1-3 multiple choice questions. You can also rewatch the videos as many times to ensure you get the answer right. This class is easy, only one essay at the end of the semester. Professor is also really nice. Highly recommend.
Started off good with some video quizzes and discussions, but she didn't really seem to care about students passing. Even when I emailed her and communicated with her, she took days to respond and then basically said "You're on your own". Not lenient at all with any mistakes, and the tests are made for you to fail with their trick questions.
I legit just got a multiple choice question on one of her tests that says "governor" or "lieutenant governor" and got it wrong for clicking the wrong governor... I understand that she wants you to learn the terms, but every question is a trick question and i'm so tired of having to second guess myself. Please do not take her!!
