This class sucks, he doesnt teach from the book......He is wack!
Doesn't make subject interesting at all! There were times when the entire class would be sleeping!! Dont do it!!
This professor is not clear at all. He never uses the book so on the test you don't know what to expect. Study guides are no help. The tests come mainly from lectures, but the lecture notes aren't always clear. Half of the people never pay attention in his class. It seems like he doesn't have any interest in this class at all. DON'T TAKE HIM!
he doesn't teach from the book. its really hard to study for his tests becuase you can't go to the textbook for help. he stutters so its hard to understand what he is saying, and annoying. nothing good about him. DON'T take him.
HE IS A GOOD PROF! If you failed his class you must be a troll as this is easier thn a simple high school econ class. Pretty cut and dry here. If you happened to show up for most classes and read a little of the book, you're prob looking at an A. His HW sheets are so easy, I did them during the 10 min before class! Bonus pts galore as well..
I made an A because I visited his office hours and complained, other than that, he is not very helpful. I think he puts shame to Georgia State because he can't seems to get his point accross during lecture. DON'T take him if you can avoid it, if there's no choice, don't take the class lightly either because you will fail miserably if he hates you!
He was an incredible instructor. Very clear, very concise and engaging. All test were strictly from his notes, so pay attention in class. It may have been in the book too, but I didn't have to open it once.
Dr. Ross is a very nice prof, he sometimes stumbles over words but you can still understand him clearly. Tests are all multiple choice and some problems. The final was the hardest but if you study well you should get a good grade. Fast grader and helps you a lot. Go to class, take notes, read the book and you will do fine! I got an A in his class!
I do not recommend this teacher to anyone. He's not very engaging in the class and he's quite boring. Doesn't follow the book and he confuses you while confusing himself at the same time.
Mr. Ross is a very nice and helpful teacher. He also knows the material very well an explains it in a way that is easily comprehensible. As long as you take good notes attend class, and study prior to tests you'll receive an A.
Dr. Ross is Awesome! His 2100 class lectures are interesting and on point. The book isn't very clear/helpful, so make sure you come to class and take notes, in order to get an A on homework and exams. You can get extra credit points on exams and/or if you visit his office hours. I'm taking his 2106 class this summer.
Ross is not bad but I definitely preferred Kagundu instead. Sign up early though as Kagundu's section will fill up quickly. Either way Econ capstone is not a bad class. Do the readings online, attend class and take notes and you'll do fine. Would not recommend taking this and BUSA 4980 at the same time as BUSA will take up a ton of your time.
Take notes. Test questions ramble on (e.g. choices literally run into each other). Content is very basic (HS level). He seems to go out of his way to "teach" students the "right answer" even if they gave a perfectly suitable one. Basically an attitude that regardless of a students response he has a "more correct" wording that he proceeds to impose.
His Lectures are very unclear, and I dont feel like his lectres or notes prepare you for the test, He rambles and is VERY boring. I would definitely get out of this class if I could and I dont reccommend him
Hes like the Nutty Professor. Dude acts like him. Hes straight, he gives you study guide and examples that will be on the test. FInal replaces lowest test grade.
I don't know what his problem is, but he seems to be really uninterested in answering a lot of questions and gets pissed when you do. He gives generic responses a lot of the time. I got an A because I took macro in HS but he was unhelpful. He's got some garam masala up his bund (for the desi's out there). Avoid at all costs!
We'd ask questions in class cause we didn't understand his thoughtless muttering and he'd just turn around and not answer cause he felt like we should already know it. I thought it was the teacher's job to help students understand material. And he tests you on stuff that he never covered in class. Literally, worst teacher I've ever had in my life.
Awful! Worst teacher I've ever had. Extremely boring, doesn't use the book, and his study guides are completely useless. He tests over stuff he doesn't cover, and even if he did cover it in class you can't understand what he says because he mutters so much. Avoid at all costs!
Dr. Ross when lecturing will do so in a way that will make a simple problem more complicated than it was. He is very condescending, especially when students asks questions.
I'm not sure which class some of the previous post were in because the class is "easy." He gives a study guide that if you do, you'll pass the tests with flying colors!
I don't know why so many ppl are complaining. If you have no interest in Econ, this will be BORING. He explains things clearly and is more than willing to explain more if someone doesn't understand. 6 HW assignments, only 5 graded. EASY! Semi-hard final. Getting a A isn't hard at all. Stop slacking & do your job as a student. I got an A.
Not really helpful as a teacher. I only did well in the class because I had taken Econ in high school. Don't recommend for beginners, even though it's a beginner's Econ class...
He was just alright. The notes he gave and lectured on were literally from the textbook so definitely buy the book, it helps as far as understanding and studying. He seemed as though he was too smart to be teaching Econ 2100 because he wasn't very clear or helpful in breaking down concepts. I would take him again if I had to.
You definitely have to read the chapters he posts to D2L to do well on the exams. He's a nice guy in general and he doesn't use ppts except for showing graphs and stats so pay attention in class and write everything he write. Overall, the class isn't bad at all, urban econ is very interesting and he shows a lot of diff. perspectives on the subject.
His lectures ramble on, often going in many different directions. The class isn't hard, but since his teachers skills are very poor, you have to take it upon your self to learn everything from the textbook on your own.
Dr. Ross is a chill type of teacher. In the beginning of the class, he comes off as very dull, but he never stops smiling. Dr. Ross is very straightforward with his teaching. He rarely encourages class participation, but he does frequently give in class assignments. His study guides are VERY helpful.
His lectures are very helpful. If the only thing you learn is what he says in his lectures, you will get an A+; although, the textbook is a good and easy review. Hardly any homework. He likes student participation, so sit up front. He is attentive to students needs and is helpful during office hours.
Great teacher but only speaks in one tone of voice which can become boring at some point. Most of the class is just him lecturing about whatever topic we go over. No extra credit assignments but does replace your lowest test grade with the highest at the end of the semester and also gives a few points for showing up to his office
Glen is not accessible outside of class, gives very long boring lectures, and is makes us buy a pointless textbook.
Teaches straight from the textbook; makes the textbook that he wrote mandatory. Lecture heavy, does not teach all that well but he's a likable person. Very boring.
Monotone voice, not a very good teacher. Teaches straight from the book, so you should definitely buy the book.
Attendance isn't mandatory but he doesn't post anything online so you'll miss the information he gives (which he puts on the tests). He is also very strict on the homework deadlines. No exceptions.
He was a very nice guy, but the content and structure of the course was not my favorite. Lectures were not captivating, and there were no supplemental slides for studying. There was homework every week and two tests, meaning very reliant on the textbook. Overall, it was okay but my least favorite econ course.
Hands-down THE MOST inconsiderate, not sympathy, and unrelate to student professor ever. Lectures are boring, he made us bought the book he wrote... I'm going through a rough time because of my dad's medical condition and I am the main care taker for my dad. Came to his office to talk about it, what I receive back was"oh well, goodluck with ur dad"
You can tell that he really cares about his teaching. Great examples
His class was boring, but I didn't dislike him. He is a good teacher, but I just hate economics so I didn't like the class. Attendance doesn't affect your grade, so that's nice but if you don't know anything about economics, you should still go.
He's a great professor. He goes over the material thoroughly. He also goes right along the book so having it with you is a good choice. Tests are fairly easy. Take his if you want an decent grade in the class without much effort.
Kind of a sarcastic person but the class is very straight forward.
Best professor I've ever had in college! Really knowledgeable about the material, and really funny. Very fair grader. Anything you could possibly ask for in an econ professor. The only way you wouldn't like this class is if you just don't like econ!
He wrote the textbook so he's definitely super knowledgeable but his final was tough; certainly not an easy A. The homeworks were easy though and the final replaces one of your lower test grades.
He teaches fast and teaches out of the book that he wrote. He doesn't teach of understanding. He lectures. His study guides are NOTHING like the tests. His study guides and reviews are useless. Just ready the book. He will test you on any small detail. Attendance is not required. VERY LIGHT HOMEWORK.
Good professor. He wrote the textbook so he knows what he's talking about. Follow the textbook and you'll be fine because that's what he does. Although attendance isn't mandatory, i always preferred being there to have things explained to me for better understanding.
Hes a good professor. Sometimes it can be boring but he explains everything and takes things slow. His exam is just like is own book. Follow the book and the class will be easy. He even goes over and has review sessions on the test afterwards. I like it and would recommend.
Lacks sympathy.
He teaches really well but his tests are really trick and logical so prepare for some of that. It's better to follow the textbook since he wrote it. And he mostly follows the textbook. His ppts are focused towards his textbook.
Read the text & you can get an easy A but you are better off teaching yourself. He takes a while to make a point sometimes. Luckily attendance isn't mandatory but I still recommend going because occasionally he has in-class assignments or just ask someone how to do them. You save more time teaching yourself the material than attending the lecture.
No issue with this teacher, but this is a self-taught class, if your good at that then go for it. He only uses icollege to upload HW only, powerpoints, upload addit'l reading & grades. He lectures every class, he turns hw back in class. Compared to my other classes, where you actively have assignments due on weekly basis, not the case for Ross.
He's an ok teacher. Sometimes gets mad a students if they don't answer. But other than that, tests are mainly lecture/txtbook based. So even if you don't come to class, just ask a friend for their notes and read the txtbook
He doesn't give a lot of homework, but you have to study for exams. He kinda puts you to sleep when he is lecturing, but overall not a bad teacher. He gives you the study guide to the exams which is pretty accurate to the exam.
Worst professor ever! Doesnt care to help students achieve the grade they need and makes the test impossible
He was terrible overly sarcastic and rude I attended every class and got a C.
This class is simple as long as you study. His teaching style is boring so its hard to pay attention. He gives 3 test & 5 homework. The test are hard.
Great professor. He thoroughly explains concepts and goes through them slowly so lectures can sometimes be a bit boring, but the class is interactive and he has a good personality and sense of humor. He reviews all material from previous lectures, assignments, and exams, which is helpful. Assignments aren't difficult, but tests make you think.
Rude and doesnt work with students who need help. When you ask him for help he just says read the textbook.
This teacher honestly doesnt care about his students. He isnt a good lecturer and makes you buy the book he wrote. Honestly if you get the book you can probably learn from yourself easier than from him. If you put in the effort youll pass.
His class was HORRIBLE. Attendance is mandatory but class consist of you listening to him ramble for 1 hour and 1/2. I dropped this class and took my W.
hes such a bad teacher, this is the warning your looking for, dont take him
This professor is really great. The material is not that hard if you actually read and go over the material. He answers emails within a day or two. great class!
He's a good professor I don't see why he has such a low rating. The way he grades is very clear and all of his quizzes aren't being recorded.
I will say this has been the best online class I have ever taken ! His online weekly quizzes were beyond easy , and he only grades by weekly quizzes, discussion posts, and problem sets which were also easy. He gives no tests. He was a great professor, i would recommend him for an easy A+ !
This course has clear guidelines and lectures that help you to easily pass. He understands how difficult the world may be due to covid-19 and adapts accordingly. He is an admirably example of what other professors should try to adjust their own curriculum to.
Great professor for econ 2100! Quizzes are straight out of the book and discussion posts are simple
Professor Ross was an amazing professor. The class wasn't hard at all--this is coming from someone who doesn't particularly care for economics.
I took his class online and he had study hall hours but it was not required. The work is super easy: discussion posts, quizzes, and homework assignments. At most, there were only 3 things due each week. Please DO NOT buy his textbook. He writes it himself and I found it to be very unnecessary and a complete waste of money.
It was a mediocre experience. He posts homemade videos about textbook topics and assigns work based on that. Pay attention to grade weights because there is only 3 graded portions of the class. The textbook is not needed at all but it is useful. Per week, there is barely homework, but do not forget the discussion posts.
Professor Ross is a nice, low-stress teacher. Put effort into discussion posts and problem sets, as he pays the most attention to those assignments. Uses iCollege email. Study Halls aren't mandatory, but going to the first one is a good introduction to the course. This a pretty straightforward course, but Ross welcomes questions and engagement!
This online class involves quizzes, discussion posts, and a final group project. Pretty easy class. Ive been able to get by without doing many of the readings. Discussions are easy and more-so a participation grade.
Easiest class at GSU . TAKE HER ONLINE. very easy A
10/10 professor. I got an A. You can finish all of the work early in the week. Every week is a module.
Very homework heavy, and you will not pass without the textbook. He's very hands-off but he is accessible whenever you need him. The class is relatively easy and he is there to help.
mainly covers high school econ concepts. later in the course you get into detailed global econ, which can get a bit hard. as long as you read the textbook (ALL QUIZZES ARE OPEN-BOOK), or dont--literally just buy the textbook--you'll be fine. really easy class
Hes an ok teacher, honestly not very memorable. Discussion post are important, work was pretty easy.
Professor Ross is a great professor. He grades assignments in a timely manner and gives feedback. The class is low-stress. The course only consists of quizzes, discussions, and problem sets. None of which were difficult. The answers are straight out of the textbook or online. Take it online asynchronously! Definitely, an easy A, if you do the work.
Super easy and straightforward as long as you keep up with each week and assignments. The textbook is needed. There are weekly quizzes, sometimes discussion boards, and other times worksheets that aren't all very hard to do as long as you watch the videos or just rely on the textbook or general knowledge. And no tests!
He was an okay professor, he came off as a little rude to me but may have just been my experience. The class overall wasn't bad, I didn't use the textbook and was able to pass with a B having no knowledge of anything economics related.
Hypothetically, I didn't read any assignments/watch any videos and barely understood what was going on. Quizlet was a VERY useful study tool...hypothetically speaking of course. *He also comes off as extremely rude*
Take for Global Econ. Super easy. 7 short assignments, 10 quizzes that you can reference the textbook for, plus 5 discussion posts. Work is not hard, and you can work up to three weeks ahead on content.
It was an easy A for a summer semester
I have no idea why this professor is rated as low as he is. Course was easy specifically due to how the professor has set up the course. Modules have videos (a lot by him as well) that walk you through the content youre learning in the readings to make it a lot easier to grasp. I cant speak for other courses, but for this one, take this professor.
horrible. no sense of humanity. takes forever to respond to emails and even then you'll most likely need to send a follow up before receiving a response. is not understanding or empathetic; clearly doesn't care for his students. all grades are based off of very few assignments so triple check your work. he doesn't care if you experience tech issues
Doesn't genuinely care about his students. Makes you buy a textbook that he wrote (it's not good and you barely use it, don't waste your money). Doesn't actually teach, is not helpful if you try to reach out, and overall lacks acceptable teaching skills. Also he doesn't offer extra credit
This class is very easy and straightforward. Professor Ross is also very helpful. Honestly, you do not need to buy the textbook; you can just watch youtube videos to learn about the topics. 10-question quiz every week, one assignment every few weeks, and a couple of discussions. No final or tests! I highly recommend this class.
He expects and grades you on more than what he asks for on discussion boards and assignments. You can find the textbook for free, make sure to include key words in assignments/discussions.
forgot to turn in something after like 10m of the deadline bro instantly drops the grade by 40 points so the highest I could get on it was a 60 which is determental for a class with like 20 assignments. Bro requires to to buy the text book as some assigments need it. he wrote the book lol
Don't trust the low ratings! Dr. Ross is a good professor! He reminds you when there are deadlines which really helps. There's a weekly quiz around 10 questions(open note), 7 problem sets, and 5 discussion posts. They are very easy to do. It is one of the easiest A's I've ever received and his class is very low-stress. No final or tests! TAKE HIM!
The low ratings are not true at all and are from lazy students. This class is designed to make you pass with only one discussion board every couple weeks, weekly quizzes that are easy, and short assignments that are easy as well. Free A+ for not even mediocre levels of effort.
The low ratings are totally unfair and probably from lazy students. This class is literally designed to help you pass—with just one discussion board every few weeks, easy weekly quizzes, and short, simple assignments. If you put in even a little effort, you'll be fine.
He's very passionate about this course, and he cares that you learn. There is a lot of reading material and quizzes that go along with it, but as long as you read the material, you should be okay. Quizzes are a bit different than what the classwork entailed. Attendance isn't mandatory, but would not recommend skipping because you will miss a lot.
Very easy and straightforward class. I took it for the Spring semester, and it was completely asynchronous. Weekly quizzes, sometimes homework, but the answers are in the book. He does require a textbook for the class, but you can get it for free on Zlibrary.
I needed an easy elective since I had a heavy semester and this class was perfect. Weekly quizzes that are soo easy, simple worksheets, maybe 7 discussions, no final exam. I found the textbook online, youll need it for a discussion and an assignment. He's an easy grader. Def recommend this as an easy elective.
The course is pretty easy. I would reccomend this class and professor
