She is super cool and awesome. She's funny also. Exams, Papers, otherwise its chit chatting in class and talking about current events. I feel like I'm not learning anything from her so far and I wont be. I get a headache when she starts to "lecture." she skims over the textbook and summarizes the sections. You won't learn a thing from her.
Not a bad teacher just not really very clear. Seems like a smart lady but she sometimes is all over the place. Take someone else if you can. She's nice if that means anything.
I loved this class. She made it fun, eventhough it was a night class. Pretty easy too.
An ok class if you're interested in Politics. Sometimes speaks in monotone and says um every other word. Tended to dance around questions instead of answering straightforward.
Would not recommend taking this online class if you actually want to learn about politics. Didn't correspond with teacher much, but when I did she did email fairly quick. Structure of class was not very organized.
I thought see was pretty good online. I barely used the book and still passed!
Took her online and loved the class. Nice about make-up exams.
Super easy and kick back. She is helpful. I had to make special arrangements for the final and she was cool about. Take her!
i absolutely love her! She was nominated for teacher of the year last year. If you are not into politics this class may be a bore to you but if you like politics take her. She's very educated, is open to opinions. Very helpful and very fun.
This class is pretty streamlined and straight forward. You can get at least a B-C Grade by showing up alone. She tends to be more talkative, and doesn't like it when other students talk during class. Other than that, Enjoy!
The class is pretty streamlined and straight forward. You can get a B-C Grade by showing up alone. Badal tends to be more talkative, and doesn't like when student chatter during classtime. Other than that, enjoy ;)
She's okay. Far left as all professors. Most of the discussion is about how American capitalism sucks and European socialism is great. She's nice but in my particular class, I'm the only conservative and everyone else is a far left liberal.
A little too extreme with views. Easy workload, tests can be tricky. I'm not sure how she could earn "teacher of the year" she's ok.
I took the online class and it was somewhat difficult. There is some work involved but working hard will get you an A, as did I. The tests were rather difficult as they're EXTREMELY detailed and almost requires you to go through the text to find the answers. Regardless, Badal is a wonderful teacher and you will actually LEARN something useful.
Loved this class, eventhough there was a lot of reading. She gives you a study guide that has the exam questions on it, so its not bad.
Fun class but you have to study a lot for the exams. Just 3 exams and a short paper.
She talked about the election alot, but most of it was interesting. She's understanding if your paper is late and won't mark you down.
I could not recommend Gloria any more. I attend FJC for the most part, but had to take Government at Cypress. It was so worth the drive. Gloria is great. She really gets you interested in government and politics. She does stray from topic sometimes, but it keeps class interesting. She offers quite a bit of extra credit!
She's interesting and kind of funny.
Not too much homework, is helpful and like all teachers, liberal. Class is pretty easy but can get a bit monotonous.
I really enjoyed this class. She is really enthusiastic and has a great personality!
Badal is a great professor. Her lectures never get dull and she's funny and lively. She's got a wealth of knowledge on her field, and loves to chat with students. Her tests are a little hard, but manageable. There is almost zero homework, and we almost didn't use the book. She's leftist but is ok with debating against the right, unlike Mathews.
Professor Badal is an awesome teacher. She loves this subject and teaches it very well. I took her online class and dicussion boards every week. 2 papers due at the end of the semester; although, easy papers! 2 exams and 1 final. If you read, this class is an easy 'A'. But I didn't even try and I got a 'B'.
I took her for an online class. Tests are very book-intense with many questions and limited time. I did ok with the test questions but her essay responses on the test were not graded well and I did not understand why. Teacher is kind and caring toward students. She's very liberal and I don't agree with that ideology, but she was very kind to me.
Good teacher...but she's a damn socialist. I'd take her again if I could for another class.
Online class. Does not reply back until the last minute before something is due. 2 papers 2 exams. tests are timed with many q's. do the discussion boards. Not clear on some of her assignments. Watch out for the test tho. its very book intense.
Alright class, but she is TERRIBLE at grading. Took it online for the summer and she did not grade until the end. Still confused on my grades, she even admitted she lacked skills in blackboard. DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASSES!!!!!!!
I took her class online and she did take a while to post grades, but the assignments were pretty easy and I received an A and I thought I was getting a B!
Online class. Discussion boards, tests, political ideology paper.
This class is ok. It's super easy to pass. just do the essay and extra credit and you will do fine. It did take her 3 weeks after the final to post grades though.
Took this class online. This lady is terrible, but its an easy A. DO NOT BUY THE BOOKS...you'll get an A without them. The tests are the same for everyone so buddy up. You can google all the questions, and the test essay topics are just the regular discussion board topics. Pretend to be interested in the disc. boards and you'll be fine.
Mrs. Badal, is a very charismatic liberal women. To some she may appear as whinny but in fact she's very passionate about the issues she covers. She's not afraid to speak her mind, and she was pregnant when I took her. She's also very hot. She's not an easy A, you have to work hard to get it. You will learn a lot from her.
Took her online 5 wk summer class. Would highly advise not taking her, especially for online! She didn't respond to class until 1 wk into 5 wk class. Only 1 student received syllabus. She did not supply syllabus to rest of class until 1 week in. She is not there for the students. Students began to drop after not hearing from her.
I just took this instructor for summer class and it did start off rough due to the upgrade to the Blackboard system and links not working but after all said and done if you stuck with it and did the discussions, study the studyguide for the two tests and complete the one essay paper you could end with a B or A easily! Glad I took this in 5 weeks!
Loved this class!
If you're just there for the grade, you'll do fine. She's easy, and a nice person. If you happen to disagree with extreme left ideology, you may find it difficult to stomach (she doesn't hide her opinions). But she is civil enough and willing to discuss her beliefs with students, so that can be fun.
DO NOT take this teacher's online class. Midterm and final exams are IMPOSSIBLE to pass: you have 3 hours to complete a 142 test, 2 of these are essays and you end up only having a few minutes to reply to COMPLICATED prompts. I study hard, but I will most likely fail this class only due to the exams.
Boring class I regret taking her as well. She does take up too much class time talking about current events. Her tests actually aren't so bad but you definitely have to teach yourself. Take someone else if you are able to.
Enjoyed the class. Learned some valubale stuff. Take her she is a good teacher. She is also good looking:p
I learned more than I thought I would. She keeps you interested, most. Tests were essay, and LONG.
Great professor! You can tell she loves teaching. Lots of talking in class about current events. Uses decent textbooks but you never have to bring them to class. As long as you use her study guides to study you WILL pass the tests. No homework except for one three page paper. Would recommend!
Good teacher, took her online class. Not an easy class. Prepare to do a lot of reading. You will fail if you dont read and complete the DQ's. If you are not discipline I wouldn't recommend it. She offered extra credit but not sure if this is always the case. I got a B. I would take her again if I could for another class.
Attendance not mandatory, easy class, books not required to pass, etc. This teacher gives you a review sheet before each of the (like three) tests, just google the definitions of each review item and you are set. Also do the extra credit, and you will get an easy A.
Easy class! Barely any hw besides a paper which you have plenty of time to do unless you procrastinate but even so, it's till an easy 3 pg paper. The exams are a breeze only if you do the studyguide! Lectures get boring from time to time but she has a good sense of humor and chatting about current events keep the class entertaining.
She came in 1.5 months late because she was gone on maternity leave...thank god because the substitute was horrible. Professor Badal isn't afraid to tell you how it is...great teacher and if you study what she tells you to, you'll get an A :)
DO NOT take this class online!! The professor does not respond to your emails, grades late, not very clear on her assignments, & the worst part is that her tests are 142 questions and 3 hours long. How the hell is a student suppose to rememeber 16 + chapters of reading for the 1st test??!!!! She really needs to break up her tests to once a week.
BEWARE! If you are looking for a teacher who is fair and not politically biased, then take someone else. I learned almost nothing. Will try to retake with another teacher. She is EXTREMELY leftist and biased and only presents one point of view. She is not capable of being fair with facts. She also takes a very very long time to respond to emails.
She's an easy professor if all you care about is the grade. If disorganization, & getting off subject bother you I wouldnt advise taking her. The books are NOT necessary at all. She gives a study guide b4 tests & you can google the answers (its mostly a vocab & facts based test). She likes to have class discussions & is very opinionated but nice!
I've taken Badal for several classes and I love her style. She makes the class interesting, and is helpful if you go to her with questions!
Gret class. Three exams, one paper. Study guides are up on MyGateWay. Love that she talks about current events and keeps it interesting.
Professor Badal is a great teacher. Her class is thought provoking and engaging (if you like politics and keep up with current news). This class is easy. Her study guides provide all the answers for the test and she makes herself available for you to have her review your work before you turn it in. Take her class!!
This class was hard but really interesting. I'd take her again. Tests were multiple choice and essay. The essays questions were easy because she gives the questions to you before the test. The multiple choice was harder.
Fairly an easy A, but you MUST read in order to get it. Lecture is not enough to ace the tests. Two tests and one final exam. Attendance not strictly enforced.
3 exams, 1 paper, and a couple "presentations" (basically everyone gives a few comments about an article). A bit hard but you should be able to pull through since she provides study guides. Funny, engaging, and pretty. :)
She made the it interesting. I liked the current events at the beginning of the class.
Don't really like politics, but taking this class during a presidential election was really enjoyable. Let's you turn in the little homework she gives out late. One easy essay about what political view you are and why. Need both textbooks for tests. I personally think she is a fox in a cute democratic way. Class is interesting because she doesn't lecture it's more of a class discussion the whole time. Easy A so take her!:)
Comparative Politics: shes actually a pretty cool and funny teacher. I expected this to be a boring class, but get a few knowledgable people in there, and its awesome. Super easy, just one essay, only 3 tests(easy study). Worth taking
Great class to take during an election. The class discussions were very interesting and she is pretty funny. Easy A if you study.
Definitely a great class to take during elections. Grades are pretty much based on 3 tests and a really easy essay. Loved how Badal's class was more about discussion rather than lecture. You really need to read the books to pass this class. Take her! You'll love her :)
Prof. Badal is amazing. Just pay attention in class, and study for few hours the night before. For essay exams, she LITERALLY gives the essay prompts days before the test, so just memorize it and you will ACE the exam. Make sure you participate in class, since this class is pretty discussion heavy. Overall, one of the bet professors I've had.
Professor Badal is great. She makes the class easy to pass by giving you study guides and reviewing the material before the exam. Class was really interesting too.
I attend Fullerton, but took her online class through Cypress (sister school). She is the best posc prof by far that I have come across between both campuses. That's not saying much about her, but she's a great teacher! She gets you interested and really thinking about relatable topics. I would have taken her on campus class if I could.
I absolutely loved this class, and the professor was clear and very fair. Her political views don't really conform to mine but she is very fair and reasonable to people who disagree. She never grades down based on political views and fairly presents both sides without being partial. Would strongly recommend this class.
Do not take this class online. She is horrible because she does not respond to any emails. If you do the work you will pass. Two exams, one paper, one current event and two discussion boards every week.
This is a really easy class. You don't need to get either book. She gives you a study guide so google the answers. She reviews with the actual test in her hand so take really good notes. Even if you get a B on the test if you do the extra credit then it will bump it up to an A. Essay is also really easy, and I am one that does not like to write.
If you are looking for an easy A, this is a class for you, but if you are eager to learn about politics, don't even think about it. 2 books required, 2 extra credits, 3 tests and showing up is a must. Use of laptops is fine.
polsci has never been more interesting and insightful. I totally became more involved with issues i neva paid attention to before...Knowledge is power!
This professor made what could have been a horribly dry and boring class, actually interesting and engaging. There is much reading and textbook is necessary. But prof is straightforward and clear And her course is very well laid out. I took it online. A lot if work and you must study for tests, but it's totally doable. I got an "A" in class.
The class is pretty easy. One discussion every week and 2 easy papers and 3 tests. However, she is HORRIBLE at responding to emails so be prepared to figure out any questions you may have on your own.
If you don't like PoliSci, she's very easy to get an A in. If you do then you'll love her class even more because the discussions that come up are awesome. Debates pretty much take up all class time. This is a class that can only be bad if its full of quiet people (you know the ones with boring lives). She's a great teacher take her!
She was the PERFECT example of a laid back professor. Very very lenient when it comes to assignments. You should attend the class because she'll give you answers for tests. I'm pretty damn lazy, but I didn't have any trouble passing her class.
Don't know how Professor Badal teaches her classes on campus, but her online class is terrible. Sent her 8 emails and she's only responded to 1, can't seem to grade anything on time. Had no idea what my grade was until finals week. On top of that she didn't post the final grades until 3 weeks after class ended. Needs to get her priorities together.
PROFESSOR BADAL IS AWESOME! I love her. Her class is easy and she keeps it really interesting! Tests are not too hard, sometimes the essay questions can be a little difficult though. Very lenient and laid back, but dont say anything stupidignorantright wing because she will embarrass you.
This teacher is horrible online!! DO NOT TAKE HER! I dropped this class because I couldn't stand not getting any responses or even knowing my grade! She lacks at grading assignments and needs to put correct due dates on her syllabus! WORSE TEACHER! Taking it online at Fullerton with another teacher.
I took her online and she wasn't that bad. She responded when I e-mailed her, but took a while to grade the discussion boards. The tests were loooong. I got a better grade than expected, and finally passed this class.
I took her 8 week online class and she was responsive to emails and questions. The test are long and so are the study guides but if you do the study guide, the tests shouldn't be too bad.
Takes forever to grade discussion boards and there are no quizzes but about 3 exams throughout the semester with 2 papers. Papers were easy but tests are loooong. Barely finished the test within the time limit given but she seems like a nice professor. Have to do your own reading and discussion boards are easy.
She never responds to emails! Alot of reading, which i didn't mind, but felt lost since she does not give out quizzes. Exams are cramp up with 80 to 90 questions that includes 5 -6 long chapters with are an hour and half to complete Not enough time! One discussion board each week are easy, 2 papers that are not hard. Offers extra credit.
She is amazing!! Take her. No doubt about it!! She gives you the answers to the test. She is sweet, but if you come late to class she will tell you "don't bother coming" which I agree with. She knows her stuff and enjoys teaching. She is not boring !! She also has amazing style. And she's hot, so guys that's a bonus
AWESOME PROFESSOR! She makes you want to explore the world of politics in depth. I actually plan on keeping in tough with her now that the semester is over. Her lectures are easily understandable and the study guides are straight forward.
I took this class online, in a condensed 4-week course over the summer. The course is pretty simple: Two 122 question tests (including 2 essay questions), 14 discussion board topics, 2 papers, and lots of reading. There are two books to read. Overall, easy if you don't fall behind.
Took this class online during the summer. This class consists of two papers, two (122 questions) tests with essays, and weekly discussions. She does not respond to questions for a super super long time or the day when that is due, so this is a problem. Does not grade anything until the last day of session. Do your best and you can get that A.
The tests were loooong, but there were chances to bring your grade up if you didn't do well.
This online summer 4 week class was not so hard. Just 8 discussion boards and give 1 feedback to each. 1 current report and a 3-4 page essay with was super easy and she grades very well except for the 2 exams given were long 2 hours for a 122 questions. MUST STUDY AND FIND THE ANSWERS TO HER EXAM STUDY GUIDE TO PASS THE TESTS!
Lots and lots of lecture. You could go 3 weeks without a test, and then it is cumulative to 4 chapters of content. NO HOMEWORK, only one 3 page essay on yourself. Goes by the book-manufacturer made power points, so really, there is no need to buy the books. She marks points off for every time you're absent. Tests are off the "bolded" words. Easy A.
It's funny, for an online class you would expect this professor to e-mail her students back. I e-mailed her out of confusion on a topic that was discuss but i didn't hear back from her at all!! Def not a professor to take in the future, how are you teaching an online course and not replying to your emails?
Took her online and she was great. I even asked a question through e-mail and she responded pretty fast. Tests are long, but if you study the study guide you should be fine.
She takes roll & lectured pretty much everyday but I NEVER had to take notes. About a week before each exam (there were 3), she would literally READ THE TEST & answers out loud & let us record her with our phones. If you're looking for an easy A, TAKE HER! She's the kind of prof that's fun to talk & listen to, but not if you actually want to learn.
In order to pass this class you MUST have great attendance (she takes roll every day), and ALWAYS go to review days bc she goes over the entire test. Posc 230 was really tough for me since I'm not an IR major, but coming for review days helped me get by. She doesn't grade hard and very sweet. You don't need the book, I never opened it and passed!
Took her online. Two big exams and two short papers. Not bad, but I wish the test were shorter.
Great class. Two short papers, two exams, and discussion questions. She wrote me right back when I had a question, which surprised me.
Three exams, and a paper. You have to go to class or you lose points. I liked the current events at the beginning of class.
Professor Badal is a fantastic instructor. Her lectures were always so interesting and engaging. Left class with a completely different perspective on government and politics! Definitely recommend this professor.
This class kept me interested, and the tests weren't too bad. She gives you a study guide and goes over it with you!
She assigns one paper at the beginning of the semester and gives you months to complete it. Don't wait until the last minute to do it. Her exams are easy since she goes over the study guide. She also allows you to record her while she's going over the exam. Class attendance counts towards participation.
This political science class was really amazing. Took it online and there was a lot of reading. Just do the reading and discussion boards and you will be good. Don't get behind especially since the class goes super fast in the summer! Exams have so many multiple choice questions, but she gives you the essay answers on the discussion boards.
Political science is hard because I think it's just so boring. However, her online class was interesting. Discussion are easy A's and you must respond to at least one other student to receive all points. 2 easy papers. 2, 120 question exams. Long as heck! Read and do the study guide and you'll get an A. READ and DO the Study Guide to get that A!
Very easy class. You don't really need the textbook either. She reads off the test, with answers, during the class prior to each exam. She's not a very objective instructor, she has her own views and teaches the class accordingly, but she's very nice and wants her students to get A's. She encourages class participation and a comfortable environment
Loved this class. Lots of interesting discussions about current affairs. She made it interesting, and easy. She takes attendance, so you have to come to class or it will lower your grade.
Prof. Badal is the NICEST. I emailed her asking her what extra work I can do to earn 3 more points to get an A in the class and she replied the next day saying she usually bumps the grade up if it's within 5 points. The online class consisted of discussion boards each week, copying notes from the pp, reading the chapters, 3 exams, and extra cred.
I had to redo this class, political science just did not ever work out for me. I took the online course this past spring and I wish I did it sooner. Discussions every week, 2 super easy papers, midterm and final. The midterm and final were 145 in questions. It killed me but if you read and take notes then its cool! I would take her again. Seriously
Great class online.
Professor Badal is a great professor for online political science, I got through the coarse like a breeze and she repsponded to all my emails perfectly and helps with any misunderstandings. Highly recommend.
Rarely responds to emails, study guides are barely relatable to exams and does not know how to use blackboard. Do NOT take her online.
I took her 8 week online class and she was responsive to emails and questions. The test are long and so are the study guides but if you do the study guide, the tests are manageable.
This 8 week class isnt really bad. You need to show her that you actually take the time for DB's, her two papers, and etc. She grades you fairly. Alot of the questions she ask are pretty straight forward from the textbook and from her power points. There is one extra credit option for like 10 points I think. Her exams are super long, like 2 hours!
Just do as asked & youll pass. Exams were easy because she provides a study guide that matches exactly with the exam. Great teacher
Good teacher, extremely liberal will argue with students which can be fun hehe, she is overall pretty chill and gives out study guides so its pretty easy class.
Took her 8 week online class. Never responded to my emails until I took matters into my own hands. Theres 2 exams both 120 questions, 2 easy papers & 1-2 discussions boards every week. Pretty easy class, just do the work. Only used the book once so I dont recommend buying it, its a waste of money.
The class itself wasn't too difficult but it was difficult to do the work because of how boring it was. I found her class to be one of the most boring and disengaging classes I've ever taken, even compared to other online class. If you' don't care about how boring it is, she's probably the instructor for you.
She's very unclear about the assignments and her study guides are irrelevant from the exam. 120 mins to answer 120 question is too extreme; basically setting her students to fail.
Easy teacher, but unclear on dates when things are to be turned in. Gives study guides for tests. 2 tests @ 120 mins each. 1-2 assigned DB topics each week, she posts all the topics in the DB for entire semester. I don't recommend jumping ahead on DB posts; she changes her lesson frequently. Gives extra credit too.
She's new to Canvas, but class was pretty easy to figure out. This was my second time trying to pass this class. Took it with another professor and failed. Passed with a B this time! Highly recommend.
Waaaaay too much work over the summer. She expects you to not only read 3 textbook chapters a week in order to be able to complete the discussion board HW, but she also requires you to do outside research and sourcing. She grades the discussions tough with no feed back. And the tests are too lengthy (120 questions) and worded almost cryptically.
Took her online class and its an easy A if you read and finish all the work. she gives you extra credit, which is a plus since not all online classes have extra credit. even though the tests were sorta long, i would take her class again
Highly recommend. I learned a lot, and she allows you to turn your work in late so you always get credit for assignments even if turned in after the due date. It's hard not to pass.
I don't agree with the poster below that Badal gave too many hw over the summer? She has clear grading requirements and also has a study guide list of terms you should know before the taking your exams. Caution: her online exams are very long, so make sure you save 2 hrs to take it. It is not hard, just time consuming due to the number of questions
She went over the exact test questions the day before each exam so reading wasn't necessarily. That said, she boldly proclaims her moral grandiose over conservatives everyday in class, meanwhile shutting down discussion and shaming those who disagree with her, including me. Four other students who I spoke with agreed on that. Don't try to reason.
Great professor. Gives tests back fast. Gave lots of chances to get extra credit and get a better grade.
Didnt think I would like this class, but I did. She talks about what is going on in politics everyday. We had some pretty great discussions!
Absolutely loved this professor! First class in Cypress College and wow! It was great! We did a lot but it was all manageable! Professor Badal explains everything in detail and is there for her students every step of the way!
I took Professor Badal class a while ago, but she is the most memorable professor I have ever had at Cypress College. I learned so much more than I did at the University of California. I think it is very fortunate to her as a professor at a local community college. I highly recommend taking her class.
I have never had a class I enjoyed so much. I wasn't that interested in political science but she makes the topic so interesting. I had no idea about the government but learned so much from her. She is really a helpful and hilarious!!
She was enthusiastic, smart and motivating. I really learned a lot and enjoyed the class. I was not too interested in politics before i took the class but now i am planning to get involved in political campaigns. Good class and teacher.
Professor Badal's lectures are interesting. She's very knowledgeable. Take good notes! Write down everything you can and pay attention to what she says! Overall a great professor, would definitely recommend taking her.
Basically show up to class and youll pass. She tells you everything will be on the test so its really simple. The lectures are also pretty fun and you can tell she actually likes whats she talking about and likes teaching. Over really nice and understanding.
Amazing class! I learned so much. Just don't miss class, or you'll lose participation points, and don't miss the test review before the exam.
worst teacher ever! I tried speaking to her so many times during her office hours and threw email and could not get a hold of her. She doesn't even teach. She endlessly rants about her polictical views and how much she hates Trump. understandable but I am also here to LEARN.
Took her for an eight week online class, and it was a breeze. I thought I would hate this class because I'm a business major, but it was interesting and I learned a lot.
She complains that everyone comes up to her after class but no one stops by her office hours but when i went she was pretty rude to me when i asked about the paper we had to write shes pretty ditzy the class had to remind her what slides she was on pick someone else for POSC 100 but for POSC 230 shes the only choice 3 exams 2 essays in each exam
She reads off of her powerpoints and barely elaborates on them. When she teaches, she assumes you already know the material. For most of the lecture, she goes way off topic. She also rushes through the powerpoint because she wants to go to the next chapter. Would not recommend
She is a sweet person and a good teacher. Her class is pretty easy to pass as long as you pay attention. She is willing to help you even outside of class. I went to her office for help on my term paper and she literally looked for articles for my paper with me.
Awesome. Helps with paper if you ask for help. Won't reply to emails but does pay attention to them. Very passionate about polisci. I take her 200c intro to polisci class as well.
Easy online PS 100 class. She gives you her cell phone number so you can text her faster than e-mail. The tests could have been shorter but she gives you enough time to finish.
Such an entertainer! Like bruh, you think you going to be lectured, but it turns into a discussion about her liberal world view, which I strongly ENJOY because I am a democrat like her, so yeah! She reads the questions from the exam and lets you record her while doing so. Beware though! She flip on you!
The class is fairly easy to pass. For the most part show up, pay attention and read the book assignments. You have two midterms and one final, all test have study guides that give you exactly what you need on the exam. You can easily get her to talk about anything which makes for interesting class discussions.
The class itself is pretty easy. Just do all the assignments and you should pass the class. The only complaint I have is that she is a super tough grader. She'll give a grade without giving any feedback which is frustrating. Only used the textbook once for the essay
Prof. has been teaching this particular online course for many years, yet the course is ran very poorly. Prof. lacks in communication skills and grades very harshly, with no feedback given. Exams are ridiculous and unnecessarily long. There are not enough points in the class so every point you get matters. Also, DO NOT buy the overpriced textbook!
Not an easy class, but amazing professor. The class is overall very interesting! Would definitely recommend.
I took this class last fall with another professor and got an F. I retook it with her and got an A. Love her teaching style. Wish I took her first.
Good professor. Took her for my first online class and everything was clear. If I had a question I texted her and she got back to me. Would reccomend.
Easy online class. Directions are clear. The tests were long but you get a lot of to finish it.
Gets off topic a lot in her lectures. Very one-sided and does not know how to pace her slides. She stays on one slide for like an hour, and then on one for like a second. Class is easy if you attend the test review the day before. Virtually inaccessible outside of class
She talks about current events/ what's going on in the news etc. for the first 30 mins of class. She uploads the lectures to canvas and there is a PDF for the book. You don't really need the book tbh. She goes over the test the class before and allows you to record the review. Attendance counts as grade so just show up and listen.
Her exams are based off the book but she lectures from the book. She tells you EXACTLY what to study for the tests. The lectures she gives are great because she makes them fun! You better go to class because she gives points for being there.
One of the best professors Ive ever had. I recommend 10/10.
Online. Teacher is OK but not recommended. Requires u to post weekly discussions (16 of them, about a paragraph long). Reading and research is a must. 3 exams. 2 papers. Provides extra credit assignments, which are 1 page papers. Responds timely to emails. It seems like the online course is easier graded thou but you will work for it.
Stay on top of the discussion boards, and use the study guides for the exams. Easy class.
She was the best professor I've had at Cypress. Three tests, and a paper, no homework. Her lectures are interesting and I really loved the current events.
She's a great teacher. Take notes, do the study guide, come in the class before the test because she provides a lot of useful information and you'll do fine. Quizlet is also a very useful study tool for this class
Her exams are ridiculously long. 120 questions. You have discussions every week, not bad but she doesnt really explain them well. I received low points because my discussions were not long enough but she never stated how long she wanted them in the first place. To be completely honest, I would not want her as a professor again.
Super organized online class. She gives plenty of time for the exams, and responds quickley to texts. Would definitely reccomend.
Class was very straightforward and I learned a lot from the discussion boards. Was a pleasure to take and an easy class if youre looking for credit
Was really easy to pass the class. Took it online during the pandemic and it wasn't too complicated once you got the flow of work. I would definitely take the class again.
Great Professor. She is very clear about her grading criteria. If you do as she says you will get all the points. I don't understand how students get C's in her class, if you don't do good in her class is because you are lacking in your work and not putting effort. Her assignment and tests aren' hard, just read all the materials she provides.
This class made me think about being a political science major. The discussion topics are interesting, and I learned a lot from this class. I'd take her again.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR ONLINE! Maybe she's great through zoom but solely online she SUCKS! I know this sounds mean, but I literally struggled through this class because of the way she has it designed. She doesn't grade anything until the week of the final so you have literally no idea what you have in the class and if you should drop it.
She's the only professor I have this semester that is actually meeting to lecture on Zoom. She is very understanding if you need an extension, and lectures are interesting.
The zoom lectures were fun. She talks about current events and connects it to the book. The exams are not terrible. All in all, I would definitely take her class again.
Professor Badal is the BEST Professor on this planet. She is so kind, understanding & hilarious! Not only do you learn so much in her class but you also have a lot of fun. Her tests are really easy if you pay attention and study. She offers extra credit & shes always there to help if you need. If youre looking for a sign to take her, here it is!
Graded on weekly discussions, 2 tests, 2 essays and 1 final. Everything gets graded at least 1 month after it was due. Very unclear on what she wants us to do for the discussions, but because she grades last second sometimes you get free 10/10s on them. Study guides don't help and textbook doesn't help on tests either and the tests are pretty hard.
I learned so much from this class. The discussion topics are easy but you have to do some research. She was a little slow to grade some of the discussions, but the papers were graded in few days and the tests are automatically graded. She is very flexible if you have an emergency.
Good professor if polisci isn't your thing. Homework was just discussion boards on Canvas. She goes over a review guide for the exam and every question in the guide is on the exam. Consider taking her if you need an A in polisci.
I took her online class and basically you teach yourself. You MUST read all chapters. Her test are very long but everything in the study guide is on the exam. PP are worthless, dont help at all. 1 DB p/week, 3 exams and an essay. I will not recommend online, do zoom. I got a C, my only C in my transcripts when i received my AA.
Best professor ever! I think she is the best for any POSC class. I had her for POSC 200 and 230; I highly recommend her classes if you really want to learn about POSC or if you are a POSC major.
Professor Badal is great, the course work was relevant and a joy to work through.
Took Proffessor Badal this summer for online class, class was completely online without any meetings. Her grading is very easy, she was also very flexible when I asked for an extension. Not too much work, the only homework is discussion boards that do not take up much time. If you can take her for the fall, highly recommend it!
An easy A Professor, highly recommend taking her. Class is easy, only hw is discussion boards. Two tests and two papers, extremely doable, and her grading is very easy. Great class overall.
Took this class twice I recommend taking the summer class it was less of a work load but the tests are very long and timed. Regular semester class it was very tough a lot of discussions and assignments.
I took Professor Badal during the summer semester and it mainly consisted of discussion boards and two tests. The tests are quite long in length but they are multiple choice. She's a good choice for anyone wanting to just take posc for their general education requirement.
Her Zoom lectures are interesting so I'm taking her again for PS 215. She is flexible and fair. I may end up a political science major because of her.
If you take her, make sure you read her syllabus before submitting assignments. Youll miss points if you dont read her syllabus cause she has instructions there but not on the actual assignment. Be aware of her paper due dates in the syllabus cause shell let you know two weeks ahead that you have two essays due. Overall, she is fair.
She is a good teacher definitely but the problem is that her test is way too much. I'm an A student but her test are just ridiculous. The 2 tests are 120 questions and the book nor the "study guide" does not help at all. This class is easy and she responds fast outside of class. but is just her test is way too heavy. (summer class btw)
She was alright! I would recommend her if you need this class as your GE requirement. I did not learn much from that class since she does not lecture, but the assignments she gives out are free points if you meet the minimum requirement. The tests are the hard part since they are very long, we only have 3 per sem. Overall, pretty flexible!
I'm a Political Science Major, so I had no choice but to take classes taught by Professor Badal, but let me tell you, the best laughs I've ever had have been in her class. She's super nice, and honestly, the class is not hard if you want some easy credit: three exams and one six-page term paper. I recommend taking her in-person classes over online.
She didn't seem to be a harsh grader, but sometimes the discussion boards were annoying because it required research on the topic. For the tests, it seems like you need the most recent ed of the book to get 100% ugh. You can still get decent scores on them (90%+), IF you do the study guides so do them. Weekly discussion boards, 2 papers and 3 exams
Just finished the summer class and it was doable. Two-three discussion topics a week, two tests, and two short papers. She grades really quickly but doesn't give much feedback. Overall great class.
Easy class, light work, she's funny and left-leaning but tries hard to be unbiased which I appreciate. Will argue with student and win.
8 week class. Only 1 or 2 discussions that were due each week which was SUPER doable and easy. Gave full credit on all. Only thing I would complain about is the midterm/final exam as others mentioned... 120 questions with 120 minutes which is a bit much imo. Theres also 2 papers you have to write that are based on your opinion, super easy.
Honestly this class started easy but turned into a hair puller. I am SURE This class was easier than a lot of other professors. She was open about herself and had good teachings even online. Very light weekly discussions. 2 papers. and 3 exams. Papers are easy because they're about yourself but the exams have so much reading. Her questions are HARD
The course was a great review of the establishment of the US Government. During the course of the reading, you read a lot about social injustices as well as watched a couple of documentaries that involve racism and prejudice in America in regards to politics. Great class.
Took this at Cypress's first winter intersession & she made it very accessible and do-able. It was like 6ish discussions (min 300 words, 1 response) and 2 papers (opinion based) 2 Exams, 120 Qs in 150 min. She sends weekly announcements w updates/reminders which was super helpful! ngl I got a B bc I started to slack off LOL but easy regardless
Such an awesome professor, I recommend her out of all the polysci professors. She makes the tests so easy by doing a review the class before the test which is ONLINE. She said she may go back to in person testing, but so far, it's been easy. Just learn how to write fast, and if you miss the notes, she has her powerpoints listed on her Canvas page.
I absolutely love Her!! She is the best professor/person I have ever met at Cypress and is such a sweet person. She is very personable and is the best mentor anyone could have! Her class is really straight forward and is easy to pass with attendance and paying attention. TAKE HER FOR ALL POLI SCI CLASSES!! You won't regret it! Tests online! 100/10
She was very chill in my opinion but also lacked group activity that could've broke the silence her class had for a polisci class but if u dont care and just need the g.e. cred out of the way take her, insanely easy
She seemed nice, although she does have some biases. Sometimes if you disagree she'll look at you shocked and respond like, "Oh my god so you think that's ok?" In a very condecending voice (Happened to me). She goes off on tangents often and her slides are just the ones provided from the text book. It's a pretty boring class and tests only count.
Online course with no lectures (not even videos!!!). You have to read the textbook and lecture slides yourself, which can be boring. The assignments and discussion questions are interesting (we even watched a movie) but the lack of presence from the professor holds the class back. Exams are not too hard as long as you do the study guides.
This class was well-organized and easy to keep up with and I took the 8 weeks class. She responds pretty fast to e-mail and was really understanding when I had to miss a paper deadline.
Gloria Badal is a great Government professor to have, especially for gen ed. I suggest taking her for Government and there are 10 discussion assignments, 2 papers to write, and a midterm and final. Get ready to take exams since the midterm and final have 120 questions each.
This was a summer school class and only four weeks. It was very well organized and the discussion board topics were interesting. I;ll be taking her again in the fall.
Professor Badal's POSC100 class was pretty manageable. The discussions and papers were straightforward, and Unstuck AI was a great study tool for the midterm and final exams. Her lectures were engaging, and she made the material accessible, even if the exams were a bit heavy. Overall, a solid choice for a gen ed requirement.
Honestly, if I talked with her more I would've said she was a great professor. She's so helpful in making you realize what's going on in the world today. You can tell she knows her stuff and will say her opinion. It was hard to follow her structure of the class, but it was still simple. She loves when people participate in the conversation.
I loved this class and couldn't wait to go to hear her talk about the election and what was going on in the world. My favorite professor so far.
An okay class, I never really got to know the prof due to it being an online class. Weekly discussion boards, exams, paper. Please note that the exams are like 80-90 questions each. I took her semester class and we had two papers due right before thanksgiving break in the same week. It wasn't hard, but something I want to mention
There was discussion boards week after week, they are interesting topics. The minimum word limit is around 250 words if remembered correctly though the topics were interesting, though some needed extensive research for it, but it wasn't anything too difficult. Overall, she was a good teacher and I would take the class again.
I took this class during the winter semester so this outline is accelerated Outline is: 2-3 discussion boards per week(300 words minimum with 1 comment to a peer) 2 exams(timed) 2 essay(3 pages) 1 extra credit
Lectures are amazing, she never hides her position. She wants you to disagree with her, but she will take down your argument. Three tests and a paper.
Three exams and a paper, and she goes over the information with you before the exam. The lectures are interesting and there is a lot of class discussions.
She is a great lecturer, good person, and enables students to do great on exams and the essay. The only critique I have is the PowerPoints need to be updated-they are sometimes vague/outdated with the terms and concepts. Def recommend taking her for Pol Sci courses. Also recommend reading the textbook instead of only going off notes from lectures.
Took her 5 week class in the summer-Test/assignments/discussion expectations were given from day 1, communicative when questions were asked. Lot of reading from textbook, assignments were reasonable and enjoyable, all around not a hard class but requires time and effort.
took online summer course and genuinely learned within the four weeks of the course. discussion hoa
such a sweet professor and very communicative. took her online class over summer and even though it was a short class, youll still learn. textbook will be used. discussion boards for attendance. writing assignments and tests impact grade. truly a great class, good luck 🥳
Took this class online over the summer. Overall, pretty easy class to get an A in. Professor wasn't the most accessible however, didn't respond to my questions through Canvas. Papers are ran through an AI checker so beware. Majority of grade comes from discussions and 2-3 papers.
I took Mrs. Badal for Summer of 2025 to get my requirement out of the way and it was a very interesting class. I had to rent the ebook(on pearson+) because the physical book was almost $200 and that a lot. I had a great time learning about politics and there are discussion boards, but not as heavy and there were two papers and two exams.
Have her for comparative politics and I love this class. Great discussions and not much homework. Three exams and a final paper. She goes off the slides and goes over the exams with the class.
