Well this teacher means well but its real hard to learn from her. Makes things more difficult than they should be. Adds to the curriculum which makes for more mistakes during her difficult exams. Published book, which saves money, you can try avoiding the book.

Yes,she may mean well,but her class is the most difficult class I've ever taken.She does make things way more difficult than they should be.It took all I had to pay attention,and get through the hour.I did not learn what I should have, It was not a pleasant experience at all!

She was very difficult, because even if you learned a different way than hers, you had to learn her way all over again and do it her way or it was wrong. Also my problems on the homework were all right but I received a 65 because of the vocab. She is suppose to be teaching math not English. Also on her tests only 2 people from our class passed them

Sufficeint information to pass her exams. I used the notes she gave instead of the book. Will take points off instead of the whole problem being wrong. Was available for assistance more than other instructors I have encountered. Overall I would take another class with her as an instructor.
She teaches well but is hard on her grading system. I couldn't even pass her math class and she grades on english, give me a big break Mrs. Guerra. I was soooo upset. Mrs. Guerra also treats us like we're in high school and I don't appreciate that, I'm older than she is. If I want to do my homework in class, I should be able to do whatever I want.

I really enjoy having this profeesor. She goes through every problem step by step, which i need, and if we dont finish the homework by the class time she lets us have til the end of the day to turn it in. It seems that she really cares if we pass. She also mantains a great attitude.

I found that Mrs guerra was very clear as to her explination of the material, and was also very helpful when was having difficulty understanding the homework.

mrs.guerra is a good teacher, she is really organized,but if you do all your homework and you will do good..she gives you all your homework assignments the first day of class. she explains things very well and at a good paste, she is very helpful, and will stop to answer any questions.. great teacher.highly would encourage any one to take her class

she counts off if miss some when your woring it out even if your answer is right. she also wants to see all steps. if you skip any get ready for points to be taken off. and she talks about the most randomest stuff during class... i would never take her again.
I took 1314-NON-STEM Fall 2007 earned F in her class. Had already taken 1314 the real class earned D in Spring of 2007. Question! How can a Non-STEM class be harder then a STEM class? I still haven't figured it out. I truly tried in both classes. The - and + comments are true. You have to know the information in details to pass. God Bless.
One thing i do know she is not a professor for students who want an easy "A".But if you plan to take math at the next level or if you really need to learn it correctly Take Her.Im still grateful that i took her cause I was so much prepared for 0303 & 1314.The best detailed math professor I ever took!You must show all you work Which pays off later!
Very helpful, very strict, she Doesnt put up with abscences. Its not fun but she will prepare you for your next level math class. She has to have detailed work and doesnt except it any other way.Unless you are great at math your not getting an a.Im sure she doesnt give many out.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She is late everyday at least 20 mins. Then because she is late she tries to cram everything in that class period so do not ask questions because she will not answer them. She will tell you that is what tutoring is for. She relies on the tutors to teach you. Do not take her!

I didn't like her she made you do everything her way. On tests she would take off alot of points if you didn't show your work her way. She never even knew what she was talking about. She was always late to class and always expected you to stay after our time was up just to make up the time she was late.

She would make a good english professor. She writes too much and expects your spelling to be correct on the test.Mrs. G is working on her math PhD and applies that to folks who hardly understand the math process anyhow.. I would stay away from this person and go with Mrs.Wack

I was a little worried when I signed up for her class because of all the bad reviews. Her class was the only one left for the class hours I needed. She is very particular on your assignments. Explains everything clearly, gives extra credit toward grades. I usually struggle in math but passed with a B+.I am actually not scared of math now.
Did not appreciate to know that how she was taught and she was not going to be easy on students if she wasn't taught easy herself. Didn't like when she would go over new materail before an exam. Did not help at all got like 50 points total taken off of tests just cause some little word was spelled wrong. Its MATH not ENGLISH two different subjects. She writes to much and talks like a child. Rubs in your face that shes gettin a PHd in Math, wow then teach better. Sorry dont want to be rude but teaching methods are WAY off.
She is one of the WORST teachers at st.philips. She will take points off on your test for any little reason even if the answer is correct. She does not make math understandable, so if your not good in math do NOT take this course unless you want to fail and miss up your gpa.
She likes to write on the board, a lot. Speaks to everyone like they are in 5th grade. Not a very good teacher, tells us what the answer should be but never explains why.
Dr. Guerra is detailed and shows you step by step. I recommend her class to anyone that has had difficulty with math!!

She put so much work on us at the end of the semester it was crazy. I was still doing homework after I took the final. She gives a ton of work!! I got a B in her class which isn't bad but I wasn't sure I would even pass. She grades very hard!! She's super sweet but I didn't dig her teaching style.
Horrible prof. Was rushed at the end of the semester. Goes too fast. She counts off for spelling on tests. It math not english.

Wonderful person, sweet-natured, kind-hearted, soft-spoken, and VERY easy on the eyes! BUT as an Algebra instructor, an absolute ZERO! Took WAY too long at the beginning of the semester and then rushed like hell at the end when the course material was hardest. I started out with a solid A, but ended up with an IP. Total waste of time and money!

I loved math before i took her class. She is a very monotone person and made math terrible, just terrible for me! She marks off for simple mistakes like a fraction that is suppose to be in decimal form even though it was not clarified on the test. Other than that she is very polite (:

The WORST math teacher at St. Philips she says everything 2 times and if u need help while she's teaching she does not stop to answer questions she makes u show your work for every thing even home work done online and she takes extra points off the work shown if its not done how she does it in class, even if the final answer is correct

This teacher speaks to us like I speak to my 6 year old. The only plus side to her is she is very polite. She repeats herself and calls you out in class. I dont think she knows what she is doing sometime because my classmates and I have to correct her at least twice during each class period. I wouldn't take her for another class ever.

Ok I was reading all the other comments and I couldn't believe they say about her. I am a first time college student after 8 years from graduating high school and she's very very helpful. She sits we you individually to help. We worked on Aleks the whole semester it was SUPER EASY!!! She lets you use a calculator on test and a cheat sheet on final!

Very nice teacher glad to have her as my first teacher at St. Phillips. She will sit next to you and explain everything and makes sure you understand the math problem. Definitely will take another class from her in the future.
If you are "bad" at math like I was she is perfect, she breaks down the steps, she shows different ways to solve the problem. She allows a calculator and a cheat sheet on tests and quizzes and even let's you do corrections for a higher grade. She even took time on her day off, (twice) to review the final exam for us!! I ended the semester with a B

Dr. Guerra made every effort to ensure that all her students had all the tools necessary to succeed in the course. She was always available to her students for further instruction. I would definitely take another course taught by Dr. Guerra.
She loves her job, she is always available to help, she even makes reviews before tests after class, she told us we can go to her office any timeto give us one on one reviews, before finals she was available to help with reviews after class, she always answered my emails and kept us informed of our progress.
This class is a computer based class done through the aleks learning system therefore it is self paced so not everyone is doing the same thing at the same time. However she lectures every class periods for a minimum of 30min. For me the lecture was more confusing than anything this is a 2.5 hr class that meets twice a week and on top of that you

Guerra is a helpful professor. Her notes are very long but worth writing everything! We had 3 exams and a final. All homework is online using Pearson. If you talk to her about changing a due date is more likely she will do it. She is very nice but don't abuse. She is a tough grader but she keeps up with grades and gives excellent feedback!

Not a good online teacher. Very condescending responses. 3 exams and the final. Expects you to work out each problem from exam, even if you used calculator and submit. If you got problem wrong or don't show work, will still deduct points from exam grade (exam already deducts for wrong answers). Doesn't answer questions just refer to book. BEWARE!!
Mrs. Guerra is a great professor to start off remedial math in college. She will guide you through everything, there won't be no surprise's with any test or quizzes. She gives students pre-quiz study tools. Her students are her priority when it comes to assistance or tutoring. I highly recommend her. I would take her for all math classes.

Had Professor Guerra in a Maymester Statistics Class! Wowza... I am a grad student and this class was no joke... Couldn't do anything else for 3 weeks. But, I don't think I would have gotten an A with anyone else. She starts from the beginning and doesn't just expect you to know things. One of the best Math instructors I've had. Ever.

Horrible experience. Timed test, no leighway. She didn't care that I didn't finish 3 problems of the test. Told me to go to disability center to get more time, so I did, she denied me that and have me on test I didn't finish with a 43, saying it was my fault. I hate this class
She starts from the beginning and explains each step, every time. She give SO MANY handouts, that you do not need the book or E-book that is provided. When she grades the test, she is very hard! like the gymnastic scorers on the olympics, you get deductions for everything! But if you if study hard and PAY attention you will get an A!
Great prof! She goes step by step for each problem and doesn't really rush through things. Tests are a large portion of your grade, and points are deducted if answers are not set up the way you learn in lecture. However, she posts very detailed study guides, allows a cheat sheet and gives extra credit. Hw and videos are through connect math.
Have to show your work on test. If you forget a step, and get answer correct. She will dock points. On one test I made 100 forgot steps she gave me a 90. On another test made a 90 she gave me a 74. On the final she has you fill out 2 test strip plus show your work, the steps, and rules. Or she will dock your grade.
One of the hardest things I' ever done. Devoted a high amount of time to this class. She's not forgiving when it comes to grading. Everything counts, a problem may be worth 5 pts. one could get correct answer and only get 1 pt. I;m glad its over.
Dont take her! Her grading is bad! Takes off point for everything even if you have the right answer. Doesn't give enough time to finish a test. Explains everything so slow & makes you fall asleep. Talks to the class like we are all elementary students, and she is too thorough to the point that it doesn't make sense. She is a tough grader, YOU HAVE TO SHOW YOUR WORK. Can't have phones either, just feels like a high school math class. Class isn't very hard, just awful, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Talks so slow and repeats all the details and by the time she is done explaining one question you have fallen asleep or just lost what the point was in the beginning. I normally go home learn in 10 minutes viedos what took 2 hours in class. Only online hw, paper exams, must show all work at all times.

She is so specific about grading a test I didn't get the answer to one question out of 25 she gave me a 75 because I didn't show the work she wanted to see exactly how she taught in lecture. This professor will teach you steps in a way that anyone can learn. She will teach you step by step and write it out so that all learners will learn. She is very OCD about her class. You don't want to miss a class or be on your phone. She believes in your success and being on your phone or absent won't get you an A. You do have to know formulas.
Dr Guerra was by far the best math teacher I have ever had. Some student complained about her but those were the students who were talking the entire class and on their phone. If you participate and pay attention you will pass. She gives all these amazing handouts with step by step instructions on how to do the problem. Passed with high B

Caring in a sense that she wants you to understand the material. That is what she excels at. She will belittle you and single you out if you don't come to class, do the work, or ask a stupid question related to the topic. Take her if you have a great deal of patience. She knows the ins and outs of mathematics. She is also a bit of a nut!
Dr. Guerra was a great teacher. Shes a tough grader, but explains very well. Shes willing to help you. Gives very good notes, plus reviews you can study for tests, and also lets you use them on the day of the test. Final was pretty easy, if you go to the study review sessions they have and study the final review, you should be good.
Dr. G is an amazing professor! I'm not really a math person and have always struggled with the subject. Dr. G takes her time to explain the concepts of STATS and will go above and beyond to help you pass the class. Her tests are kind of hard but if you pay attention in class and do the review for the quizzes and tests you should do fine.
Repeats everything all the time. Class feels like forever with her. She is the worst. Do not take her. She will go off topic at times . Especially when you ask her a certain question she will give you something totally different in her answer.
Mrs. Guerra is great. She gives lots of reviews to help with test. There is a lot of note taking. If math is not your best subject, don't miss class. There are opportunities to make up a test if you don't pass. She gives plenty of examples. Math is not my best subject but I really appreciated all the helpful aides she provided.
Save yourself and take the other proffesor, she is very slow, gets behind easily, and also gets frusterated when students asks questions. The only way you can pass is going to tutoring at the tutoring center, she is a very detailed person so if you dont do it her method she will fail you on tests.
If you dont show your work exactly how she does its wrong so wright everything!! She is a good teacher you like VERY slow passed classes. We would have homework after every unit & she would always push them back because she would get behind. If you have questions she doesnt answer she says see math world even if youre absent for that lesson.
Professor Guerra is a great professor. Her lectures are easy to follow, and she makes sure everyone understands the material. She lets you create reviews that can be used on the tests. I would say attendance is mandatory to get the grade you want.
Shes an alright teacher but shes a tough grader if you do not do it the way she taught you she takes away points. She lets you retake test if you did not pass it the first time but the highest you will get is a 70. She gives you extra credit and once in awhile she will have a attitude if she has to repeat things.
Hard class need to organize more to get through this. You will feel all the weather changes in this floor. Most of the time it was freezing cold !! Students pay tution to get a better study environment and that is Lacking
Dr. Guerra was amazing. She was very helpful in explaining things in a way that most people can easily understand. she was very good about answering any questions during the lesson that students had.
Mathematical Genius, much more experienced than elementary mathematics. She helps you understand your errors, rather than ignoring them. Recommended for Pre-Requisites.
Dr. Guerra is an extremely patient professor. She is soft spoken and easy to get along with. She works by the book. We had homework everyday outside of class days. As long as you read your syllabus there were no surprises on the daily tasks.
She's a tough grader but absolutely fair. She's very patience, thorough and detailed in her lectures, she cares for her student's success, she takes the time to make sure that every student understands and everyone is on the same page. Takes her time explaining and goes into detail step by step. Yes, she does sometimes get frustrated when we have a question but at the end she makes sure we understand saying "is that okay?" On test, she takes off points for little details like an equal sign but she allows us to have formulas sheets/test reviews (notes) to help us with the tests.

Absolute worst professor I have ever had. She is unorganized and unprepared. At 09:40 the day of she let us know the final was due by noon. Figuring it was due by midnight like every other assignment I missed the final which dropped my grade from an A to a C. Avoid at all costs

Professor Guerra is a great choice when i comes to learning to do math she is caring kind and very helpful if you ask for the help. Also if your needing to improve your grade she'll allow you to but you must be willing to put in the work . This teacher is the worst. Her solution to a missed assignment is that I withdrawal from the course rather than make it up or get a 0. She said we had until 11:59 to finish an assignment. I sent an email about it being locked. She didn't respond until the next day, said I couldn't take a test without the missing assignment so I got a 0 on the test
Ms. Guerra is the ABSOLUTE WORST professor in the math statistics department. She will not answer your questions she will tell you to look up YouTube videos. She refuses to give you the page number to follow along. You will be lost in her class. A very very rude individual. Doesnt teach well nor takes pride in her job. A horrible teacher BEWARE!!

She was my only option and I even read the reviews before hand but I didn't junk she would be this awful. Her grading is completely ridiculous and her work for quizzes and tests require extra work and can be subject to penalties of points if not done correctly. Be warned do not take her class if you want to pass and a have a decent professor!
She seemed nice until I once bombed a couple of exams and her feedback was that I Shouldn't pursue getting an associates but instead a certificate because her class is required and that I should take another math course thats easier because I did so badouch im just bad at math. She also takes SO many unnecessary points off of exams.
ONLINE: the material is not difficult; very "busy" course. Every form of communication is text book length and repeated. Do NOT: watch her videos, read her lecture notes or emails (way long). Do (print): her calendar, detailed test reviews, & follow online text book (you'll save HOURS). Not difficult in content; but difficult in the delivery!
The homework/quizzes itself aren't hard but the way she makes them out to be. She's very thorough and detailed, that she takes off points off your grade for not writing them a certain way. Aside from the LENGTHY messages she sends that could've been summarized in like two sentences, she takes forever to respond. FIND A DIFFERENT MATH PROFESSOR.
Overall, course was ok. Be prepared to do a whole lot of homework and show your work in great detail. You are required to spend a certain amount of time on the "learn" regardless if you know the math and by pass it. Don't be surprised if points are deducted due to this. Printing the course calendar is recommended.

This professor's online course is awful!!! Stay away if you don't have a lot of time to devote. This professor constantly repeats herself. The online course requires you to print workbooks, download apps to upload to show your work has to be done within a specific time, make you watch long videos. Wants proof for everything.
If you are not ready for your whole life to be stats for 8 weeks, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. The syllabus is information-overloaded, and everything ends up being overexplained. Flex courses are supposed to be tougher, but this class is absolutely ridiculous. For any quiz/test, she will take points off for any work that is not done the way she wants.
DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH THIS PERSON. Literally the worst! She overloads you with POINTLESS information and leaves out important stuff.... LIKE HOW TO ACCESS A TEST! Expects you to submit EXTRA work for ZERO points/credit but if you don't submit it, she takes points away from quizzes. AND you have to show your work on PDF for everything!

It's disheartening to see my grade drop from an A to a C or even an F after she reviews my handwritten work.
Requires a browser that constantly has issues and throws it in your face that others have completed tests rather than helping. Very rude and talks too slow. Makes you show basic math like 2+2 or you get no credit
She deducts points for everything. Half od the work done in this class is worth 0 points. She's the type of teacher that crushes ones spirit and future. She is awfull and that's an understatement.
Blamed for not being able to access my assignments, had to go to someone else to ask for help, she was ready to be on the defense and was super rude. I tried to study very hard, write many many notes , and much show work but it's not enough. Very inconsiderate and rude.

PART 2 Regrettably, I feel embarrassed and ashamed for not succeeding in the TSI due to her teaching methods. ***Lots of homework worth 0 points.
The first tip would be to avoid her at all cost. The second tip, effective or not, I'm unsure; would be to utilize the test template when completing the review on Hawkes. Personally, I felt confident when completing the review, but not so confident when completing the test with the test template.
Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! The condition for retesting feels as though one is entering a contract. Every assignment completed with the exception of quizzes and exams are worth 0 points.
Extremely slow grader! Finals is in a week and I do know my grade on Test 3, Quiz 3 and Test 4 (due this week)
PART 2 This bothered me, she would blame you if you could not access the assignments correctly. I emailed her about it and all she told me was others could not but many could, AND I still needed help. I studied every day, took notes, and watched her videos. Just stay away!
Pt 1 STAY AWAY! did not grade promptly. When she responded to my email seemed like an AI answer, never helpful.TOO MUCH work (not for grades)and her teaching methods were not helpful. Modules are extremely confusing. I set up a meeting with her and she did nothing but talk about herself. Took this class with another professor, and passed with an A.
I took her in 2022 and she had some test due at the end of the first week at 1059 istead of the usual 1159 time there were 3 other assiments due at 1159 earlier that week too so this was an odd move.I made the mistake of not checking the time so I sent it in at 1130 and the next day she kicked me out of the class she didnt even try to work with me
While the professor can be challenging, using tools like unstuck ai and the free textbook helped me manage the workload. Stay engaged, and you may find the material more accessible than expected.
Gloria Guerra is the worst professor! I would not recommend her as an instructor, even if it delays you from graduating.
I took it for my BSN requirements and she's very specific on what she want on the study guide template. It is confusing because you had to find the question that matches with the assignment, but it's not that bad. I don't recommend taking from her unless you really need to. The only good thing is that she offers extra credit.
Changes due dates randomly. She's been 10-15 minutes late to class repeatedly.She like to point out that we're all adults in her class and we should know better but proceeds to treat you like you're in high school. She makes little condescending remarks about how the class behaves. She does stutter for anyone who has that pet peeve.
I just had a bad experience with her. Someone created a group chat where we could help each other understand her assignments. From the start almost everything was confusing and took forever to respond and grade. I took the class again with a different professor and passed.
