This teacher sucks - all her favorite film references are to Italian cinema, she offers no film examples, because she can't work the equipment, relying solely on stills from the book, and the volume of memorization for the tests is enormous. She tries to pass off her own opinion for knowledge, ie Der Blue Engel is post German Expressionism, etc.

She is terrible! She does not use a book because "none of them are excellent until I write one." She walks into class, pops in a video and presses play. She doesn't lecture. All of us are scared to get back her first test as she lectured once in five weeks of exam material. She is all over the place and so unprepared. She has a PhD from Yale!

this is the worst teacher i have ever had. she has no idea how to teach a class. when she decides to lecture, she is all over the place. The whole class failed test1 in exception of 4 nerdy kids and they got C's. If u want to be bored out of your mind and want to fail, take a class with Gloria Monti. This chick is feminist and ethnocentric to her Italian ways. Her tests are ridiculous and she's got a funky thing going on with her hair (not to sound very gay, but it's true). It's almost like a combover/bang-type deal. She will be teaching 272 for Srping 2007. If you take her, may God bless you! Haha.

This teacher is horrible! Her clarity is not helpful and her helpfulness isn't as well. She is very unorganized and doesn't even have a book for the class to read. I'm surprised she even has a PH.D from Yale! Take my word for it, DO NOT take this teacher for any of your classes. You will not learn anything!

She is the most horrible RTVF Prof ever. Her lectures are terrible and there's no study guide for the tests. If you ask her for an idea on what to expect, she'll just say everything. Took this class after loving Am Film 2 with Jackie but was rudely disappointed. There's also a paper which she is highly unclear about. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

This professor is a joke - the worst I have ever taken! According to my transcript there 77 students in this Fall 06 class and the average GPA for this course was a 1.79. So this means half the class earned a D or an F and the other half earned above a C-. She does not lecture. Don't bother talking with her as she doesn't care what you have to say.

quite possibly one of the worst teachers god has ever cursed this earth with...First off, she used permanent marker on the white board, it takes her weeks to grade tests, there were at least 8 different syllabi because she kept changin things around. Accused 3 different groups of people for cheating...all in all, steaming pile of poop.

I think it's hilarious when teachers comment their own pages (see below). This lady is an embarassment to the teaching profession. Not only is she weird/picky, but impossible to follow. You have to work 3x as hard as any other class just to get a C-. The only way you'll pass is if u pretend to be her friend & suck up to her. trust me, DONT DO IT.

Terrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE!!!! This was a GE class and she turned it into the hardest class ever. No study guide. Everyone i talked to in class got an F to D+ on the paper. She is crazy and has no problem failing the whole class.

This professor is easily the worst teacher I have had in my academic career. She is not prepared , students recieve no study guide, disrespects students with smart alec remarks regarding their questions. She should not be teaching anywhere. She does no treat the students as adults and dictates when we can leave or go the bathroom.

Monti spends more time complaining about her students than she does actually teaching.I've learned nothing from this woman!All I've gained from this class is an appreciation for world cinema, but that was acquired from the films themselves.She's unprepared, computer-illiterate, rude, and almost useless as an educator.Really fullerton?! epic fail!

The worst professor of my college career. She is rude and treats her students badly and extremely unorganized. She pulls up a blank word document and types her notes as she tries to teach. Her TA has to pull up everything for her because she has no idea what she's doing. Not allowed to use bathroom durng class. I am a good student but she horrible!

I hated every moment of this class... I don't understand how she made such an interesting subject matter so tedious to learn about. I wouldn't wish her class on my worst enemy. Ok, maybe I would. I had major surgery and she didn't accept my doctor's notes... but she still hasn't fixed my incomplete after 4 months because of her own health problems

Do NOT take ANYTHING with this professor! I enrolled in her class and the next day she sent me an email telling me that because I am not an RTVF major/minor that I should not "take her small class of 25" obviously she does not care about teaching.

She spent too much time worshiping Godard and paid no attention to students. Disorganized lectures, overloading materials, poor exams, meaningless paper and ridiculous quizzes. Think twice before taking her class. She just can't teach, and rude. You are better off reading the book/articles by yourself.

Provided you watch all the films and do the readings she assigns, you should pass her class no problem. But, if you actually want to TALK about movies, this is not the class for you. Most of her lecture time is spent regurgitating the assigned readings and there is only ONE actual analysis paper - which isn't graded until the final week of class.

This lady's classes are extremely boring and her tests are not designed to challenge your knowledge of the material, but rather to determine how well one can memorize all the useless facts listed on her many handouts. Also, if you happen to share an opinion that is at all opposing hers with the class, she'll send you a series of insulting emails.

Gloria Monti is probably the worst teacher ever. She is super stubborn and is never wrong. Everything she says is right. She doesn't like opinions, whatever she says goes. Also she is very biased with her students. I saw her look over a students essay and regrade it. I asked for the same however, she said that she wouldn't and I deserved what i got

Do not take her class! She is super disrespectful to students, constantly calling them out for little things like getting up to go to the restroom. She does not answer any questions when asked, and she answers with something that has nothing to do with the question. She also looks at you like you're stupid and says things like "are you kidding me?"

Prof. Monti is quite possibly the most stubborn, arrogant, and the most absolute narcissist of an educator. If something is not clear to you, or need reassurance on an assignment, prepare to receive a nasty email from her summing up your level of intelligence to hers. If you call her out on her mistakes, she will have a chip on her should for you.

This term I have noticed there has been an uproar in false accusations by this professor in particular. She has remained to be unreliable, incompetent, and quite frankly an all around horrible professor during this pandemic. She disregards many of her students while also deeming her own opinions to be final rather than open ended.

If you have the opportunity to take any course you need with a different professor, I highly recommend that you do. This woman tries to point at people and make them feel stupid when they ask a simple question. with that being said, she is highly incapable of answering an in-depth question, let alone a simple one. I do not recommend her to anyone!!

Professor Monti shows zero accommodation for her students needs if they are to interfere with the class schedule and deadlines. If you have any reason for missing an assignment or a class without medical documentation be prepared for zero understanding. I have never had a professor show this little regard for their students personal lives.

The course work is 4 assignments (25% grade ea). She doesnt explain the tests at all, so you go in blind, and lose 50% of your grade by the time you learn what she wants. Her guides are hard to read, and picks on students for no reason. She doesnt stay on topic. The book was barely touched for class. Tests are random. Essay guide was unintelligible

This is easily one of the worst professors I have taken, genuinely. She pushes her politics upon her students, will publicly humiliate you in front of the class, and is overall one of the worst classes I've ever taken. I would have rather skipped the semester if I had known this is what I was going up against. Please do not take her.

2 exams and one paper depict your grade. Be prepared to read and carefully watch each movie at home. I would never recommend this teacher to my worst enemy. Condescending in class, will ask questions and then put down the students who answer by overcorrecting everything you say. really unprofessional and will take up significant class time to call people out for insignificant reasons. very particular with her answers

First day in class tried going to the bathroom to have her say I need to wait but then let me go and had her TA follow me to the restroom to make sure im there, went on a phone call and she called me out in front of the class and told me to never do that again. I wish I had dropped out in time. Comments under RMP were not exaggerating like I thought they were, condescending and off-topic, and made me feel bad for asking questions and participating. She gave me passive-aggressive remarks about not bringing a textbook during wk 2, evidently saying that Titan did not have enough to cover all her classes.

There's a midterm paper, I made the word range, BUT she removed words and then deducted 20% for being under the word limit (which she REMOVED words). Good luck if you have to take her...

I have never met, a sadder, condescending, melodramatic professor in my entire life! She's rude and enjoys sending insulting emails. She doesn't use Canvas, and grades are given after the semester ends. Her lectures are straightforward, and I learned a lot from them. The movies are fine, but we must watch them because of the pop quizzes she gives.

Professor doesn't use canvas or any technology at all, so its a hassle to find out what your grade is. Pop quizzes, tests and a final written paper. Lecture heavy and lectures aren't very helpful. She is condescending and flat out rude. All the rate my professor reviews are accurate. She needs to get fired for many reasons. Avoid her at all cost.

Took CTVA 373 for a GE credit, and was one of the most time consuming classes I have ever taken. On top of that, Professor Monti is condescending, harsh, and uncaring. She has no sympathy for students. Attendance is required, and we were required to watch multiple movies for homework each week. Quizzes and exams were extremely specific and hard.

Her movie choices and lectures were fine the overall class expectations were absolutely ridiculous her quizzes are fill in the blank and worth half ur grade not to mention she is incredibly rude and insufferable in person and over email This course made me hate movies oh and she doesnt use canvas do you wont know your grade unless u ask

I could not recommend this class less, she is rude, condescending, and unwilling to understand anyone else's perspective. If someone had to step out she would get upset but when we asked to go to the restroom she was annoyed. I was out sick and she refused to send the notes that she sent to everyone else that were vital to the upcoming test.

Rude and disrespectful. Was not considerate of my needs throughout the school year. Would not recommend and would never take again. I used to love my major and she made me not like it anymore.

The worst professor/teacher in my whole life. 2nd day in class told me “do you ever shut up.” Then a few weeks later tells me “you better start talking” as participation matters. She's vindictive and neurotic and despite a PhD doesn't know much about cinema other than the French New Wave. Nothing special about her so avoid at all costs.
