She is very sensitive to the spanish learning white kid. She takes her time to make sure everyone understands and that noone is left behind--she will ask. Weekly quizes straight from the online work (I mean exactly). She will give many partial exams so your study load is not so big. Very recommended
Sra. Valasquez is eager to help anyone who enters her classroom. I recommend her for the summer sessions. They are less intensive and a passing grade comes more easily.
she is helpful, and very conscious about going to fast. she goes over everything we read in spanish in english as well. she always asked if everyone understood what she taught. she is very sweet and funny, always made class enjoyable. very fair grader. assigned projects that were fun. i recommend taking her in the summer.
The Spanish department is evil, but Velasquez does her best to combat that evil and make the class interesting. If you walk in to her class, she wants you to do well and learn Spanish. She's funny and knows what she's talking about, even if she has computer troubles now and then. Definately a good Spanish professor.
awesome teacher..loving and kind..never had a boring day and she always had fun and exciting stuff for our class to do..She gives extra credit which is extremely easy..if you do your work your almost guaranteed an A..show up to class and have a good attitude and you'll love her class..
Prof. Velasquez also teaches at A.C.C Northridge. She is one of the BEST teachers I have ever had! She obviously loves to teach, most of all she wants you to learn and understand. She will never embarass an uncomfortable student. She always makes class interesting!
She is the best Spanish instructor at Texas State I had her for 1420, 2310, 2320 and she is the best there is. She understand how hard learning another language is therefore she takes everything slowly....I recommend her to anyone whether you are an advanced spanish speaker or a beginner because she is truly the best there is
She is the best teacher I've ever had and I'm a senior. I don't think I need to say anymore, but I will. Prof V. is funny, smart, honest, helpful, understanding, caring and she truly wants you to succeed. All you have to do is show you want to. You can not find a better prof. I wish she taught all subjects. I wish I had friends like her lol.
Prof. V is amazing! I had her for spanish 2, 3 and 4. She truly wants you to learn and will never give up on you. She has fun presentations and extra credit is so helpful! She not only teachs the spanish lang. but the culture too, and her stories are amazing! TAKE HER IF YOU CAN! Best teacher at TXST!
I wouldn't take this class unless you have a great understanding of the language from 1410. She makes the class entirely too hard to keep up with or understand. I know you can't choose specific teachers, but if you land this one, drop and try to get another one! I am a B student who had ZERO chance to get close to a B in this class. ZERO!
She was amazing and truly passionate about the Spanish Language! I would definitely take her again if I had a choice.
I loved her!! She is so amazing and such a passionate caring person. Print out EVERY handout she posts and bring it to class for extra points. Speak up and make sure you so up to class. She trully wants you to learn the subject. You will not recieve a grade you didnt earn so work hard learn the language and you will be happy.
She sidetracks often and easily, and she likes to get on her pedestal often. Make sure you do all your work. It's easy to pass things as long as you kiss her ass.
She really is awesome. I had easy teachers for both Espanol 1 & 2, but this class was the first class I learned anything in. She was easy, but the goals of the class were clear. She makes sure that the concepts are pounded in. The only complaints was I felt like Sarah Palin was taking the class with me, but Senora Velasquez answered all of her dumb questions with patience. I totally recommend taking a class she teaches.
Fairly easy class. Keep up with online hw and participate in class. She has no problem failing anyone due to attendance. I had a B but she gave me an automatic F about two weeks before fin because of absences. So yeah show up to class.
I had Professor Velasquez for Spanish 2,3, and 4. She's strict on attendance, but has a great treaching style. The grammatical concepts are tough but she has a way of helping you understand. She's awesome! Take her class if you can!
She is a great teacher. Half the time Spanish teacher's who grew up speaking the language can't teach it, but she really knows how to explain it. She takes attendance seriously, so show up and do all that online work, but anything you need she'll help you with. You have to pay attention, but it's not a killer class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She is completely unprofessional and wastes the majority of class time talking about her personal life and opinions. She seems to want her students to fail and unless you are NEVER late or absent, good luck getting a decent grade. She knows her Spanish but rarely stays on topic. I suggest taking any other professor.
do not take unless you have taken some Spanish classes before. she goes to fast and if you don't brown noise then your screwed. she know very well what she is talking about but is way to harsh on her grading and testing. great person but as a teacher not so much.
Horrible class. She barely knows English and has a very hard time teaching because she can't translate things correctly. Spends way too much time talking about how she came to the US illegally. Highly suggest taking another professor.
For each spanish class I have taken she has been the easiest, and best understood. Strict on attendance, but the way she explains everything is so simple to get. Good teacher to take
The subject is difficult, but Ms. V is very helpful & gives lots of chances for extra credit. You must attend class or she takes points off your grade.
great energy. loves her job
Professor Velasquez is an awesome teacher. I took her class in the second summer session and was absolutely dreading it. But she is very knowledgeable and really cares about helping each student succeed. She offers extra credit if you do the homework and if you show up to class. TAKE HER! Highly recommend.
Professor Velasquez is not what I wanted in a teacher at all. She does not encourage the speaking of the language, so for anyone who needs to participate to learn: you're going to struggle. She's difficult to understand at times because she doesn't have the best grasp of English grammar and vocabulary, so communicating with her was difficult.
Prior to classes beginning, I was excited to take professor Velasquez. However, four weeks in and I dread showing up. Paces class well but doesn't cover much. She expects you to know nearly every Spanish word ever written, so be forewarned. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone pursuing upper levels of Spanish, and I will not take her again.
Prof V will definitely make you work for you grades but loves to help you learn, especially if you ask lots of questions, and follow directions. Print the slides!!
Such an awful experience. Took her class for 1420 and got stuck with her in 2310. She does not speak English in a comprehensible manner, making it difficult to understand many concepts and ultimately, makes the class much more difficult than it should be. Also goes off topic much too often which wastes valuable time to learn. Do NOT recommend.
Took her class through distance learning. She is a terrible communicator. Deadlines are vague, the assignments are not given in the right order (i.e. finish the chapter review before finishing the chapter exercises). Her English comprehension is poor at best making it difficult to speak with her. Likely one of the worst instructors I've ever had.
Attendance and the textbook are only mandatory because it is a departmental class, THE PROFESSORS HAVE NO SAY FOR INTRO COURSE. She gets side tracked sometimes, but she is fun and so inspiring! Her accent is NOT EVEN THAT BAD. EXTREMELY willing to help those who show they try to show SOME effort. COMMUNICATE, she will be there!!!!
Professor Velasquez was my favorite professor at Texas State, she has so much passion for Spanish and will do ANYTHING to help you get a good grade. She wants each student to be successful and will go out of her way to get you there. She is a true inspiration and has changed my view on learning a language. You are a fool if you don't take her class
Online class. I had to keep asking her to post assignments that she said were due. she would reply and politely act like she didn't forget to post them. I asked for the correct answers to what I got wrong on the tests but she didnt send them. I wanted to learn from my mistakes.. and no study guide for the big final!?! maybe shes better in person.
Very helpful woman. Don't be afraid to get to know your professors, they have some pretty cool stories too!
I am so grateful to have had professor Velasquez as my professor. She will do ANYTHING to help you get the grade that you desire. The way she teaches makes what you have learned stick with you not just for the tests but for the whole semester. She is the sweetest person and has amazing life stories. i will miss her!
Prof V. Is not only a great Spanish teacher but simply one of the best teachers around! Expect a challenging course with a professor that will do anything to help students succeed. I'm an older student that took Spanish for the first time. She made difficult concepts comprehendable and has excellent handouts! I highly recommend her to anyone!!
After 4 semesters of a foreign language, it was a breath of fresh air to have her as my professor. She is absolutely amazing and is truly passionate about helping the students in her class, you become her "kids". She answers all emails, encourages class questions, and makes passing her class feel rewarding. One of the BEST professors ever.
Great teacher if you chine to class prepared. She suggests that you print certain papers before hand and if you expect to pass you should print off everything she tells you. I had her for Spanish 2 and spanish 3 and wish I could have gotten her this semester I love her! If you don't come you won't pass, and make sure to do msl.
AWESOME. If you show up and participate in class she will love you. She tells you not to be afraid to participate because if you knew everything you wouldn't be there. She wants her students to pass the course and will try and help any way she can. Go to office hours and talk to her too if you're struggling.
Professora Velasquez is extremely caring and passionate about teaching. She loves learning and really wants you to understand the language. Her main goal is to help you feel comfortable speaking, so you will have some presentations. She is encouraging and non-judgemental and explains things so well. Do not miss class or turn in assignments late.
Pro. V has good qualities as a professor but on the other hand she has some extremely annoying habits She comes from a tough background and lets you know it and reminds you often The first time she told us her life story it was inspirational after a few times it was very annoying She is very political and voices her opinions a lot she goes on rants
she goes on rants on why she doesn't believe in God rants about politics that have nothing to do with learning Spanish very annoying very controlling doesn't care if you have a problem and miss class or assignment repeats how hard her life was sometimes she was nice and funny but mainly annoying to sit thru class and feel like your in trouble in hs
In short do not take her she treats the class more like a high school setting you feels like you are in trouble i took her for summer it was too much seeing her everyday she acts like her class is the only class you are taking and spend time studying She rants to much about herself and takes away instruction time which she doesnt do that well neway
This professor has a teaching style that can be very hard for some students, like myself, to follow. She frequently jumps between topics without finishing her explanation of each one, and is condescending towards students in class. I didn't find her very approachable either, which made answering questions/asking for help tough.
Profesora V. is one of the best professors I've taken so far in college. in the beginning of the semester she will appear tough but she really lightens up after the first couple weeks. She was always available for her office hours and she was very helpful in areas I was having trouble. I would absolutely take her again! Love her!
She is one of the most caring profs I have ever taken at TXST. She will literally help you with everything in her power, to allow you to succeed. She's hilarious and amazing! 10/10 would take her again--and I'm awful at Spanish.
Profesora V is an amazing professor! She really cares about her students doing well in the class. She provides study guides for each test and gives a lot of extra credit. Participation and Attendance is mandatory because it counts towards your grade. Just do the work and print the papers she asks you to print and you will be completely fine!
Prof. Velasquez is a teacher that really cares about her students. If students show interest in Spanish, they become one of her "kids". She is nurturing and giving and has amazing stories of education and Mexico and the journey to become a US citizen. She values education and inspires people to reach for their goals. I learned so much from her.
Prof. Velasquez really cares about her students. She is nurturing and giving and has amazing stories of education and Mexico and the journey to become a US citizen. She values education and inspires people to reach for their goals. I learned so much from her and not just Spanish. She's one of the best professors I've ever had.
Prof. Velasquez is great! I liked her very much and would recommend her to anyone. Attendance is mandatory, and at times she can be long winded with her stories, but she is a wonderful professor and she gives you every opportunity to succeed.
Professor Velasquez is amazing. She can be tough, but only because she's so committed to her students learning the language. If you do your homework, participate in class, and only miss a few lectures, you will have no problem acing her class! She is also such a fun professor, I actually looking forward to going everyday. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
LOVE Professora Velasquez! My daughter and I took her class together and we both fell in love with her and her stories. She is highly organized, nurturing, and respectful of her students - but she does have high expectations and wants her students to truly learn and not be afraid of the language. She is inspirational.
She's incredibly blunt and silly, and really lets you know what's on her mind. She goes beyond the chalkboard and actually shows you, speaks to you, and guides you in the learning process that makes the subject easier. Beware, though, she uses standardized tests and homework, which there is a LOT of. She allows 3 free absences and plenty of EC.
Prof V is great, she's by far my favorite professor at Tx State, go to class, do the handout (and a little extra) and you build up EC for the end, she gives plenty of opportunities to bring your grade up, she's very approachable but she is very honest and doesn't mind talking with the class. Do the hw, go to class and put in effort and you'll be ok
I began the semester afraid of my Spanish Course, but after having Professor V I wasn't scared anymore and I passed the class with an A! She is AMAZING. You have to go to class, but can miss 3 days. Also you always work on handouts in and outside of class, and have online homework. There are two oral projects, three exams, and extra credit!
She is a good professor, she wants us to really learn the language, but also understands that learning a new language is hard. she's very easy to talk to and quick to help her students. There is a lot of work but she will explain it all to you. Don't expect your grades to be handed to you. Be prepared to work!
She was an ok Professor. She gives a lot of homework but if you do it all youll be rewarded. I feel as if she didnt teach but just went over the homework that was due. Youll end up teaching yourself. If youre taking Spanish 3 with her youll have 2 oral exams and 2 compositions to write. Exams were ok since she gives you a review.
Profesora Velasquez is an inspirational person who has overcome a lot to get to where she is now. The lectures can become political, but she treats her class is like a family. She appreciates students who take advantage of the extra credit and never stop giving their all. She will help you if you help yourself.
If you want to actually learn Spanish, take her she's an excellent Profesora, but don't think you'll get by from minimum effort. Velasquez will actually make you learn the language, which I personally enjoyed. Best Spanish Prof Ive had without a doubt x10 and I'm currently in Spanish 2320
Tough, regardless of studying. Gives wrong answer purely based on misplaced accent alone.
AWFUL.
If she has you do Vistas online do it!! It helps with remembering conjugations and everything else. Also, she makes it obvious she wants you to excel so just talk to her and she WILL help
Professor V wants you to do well in the class. She gives a lot of extra credit and is very passionate about what she does. However, attendance is mandatory and there is a lot of homework.
Her class consists of random tangents and going over worksheets you do at home. For the worksheets she just asks what we put down and says if its right or wrong. This is not a teaching style I learn with so hopefully you had a good Spanish 2 prof. Also, her TRACS site is unorganized but blames you if you can't find something or are confused.
I hated this teacher. She was fine as a person, but she would tell really personal stories in class and it made everyone uncomfortable. Also she basically expected us to learn everything on our own. She helped with some of the grammar teachings, but nothing from that class will stick in my brain bc of her teaching style
This professor is so self assured in her own ways that she seems to actively ignore the criticism she receives. The class is conducted as: Do the homework, check your answers, then come to class to read out your answers. That is IT. Occasionally she pulls out a powerpoint out but otherwise the class is self taught. I pray to not have her in SPAN4
She is interesting and funny but expects a lot. It's Spanish so you have to practice like it's a new instrument you are learning to play. Homework every day, you must go to class or you will fail. I was frustrated that she never really used the book. If you want to pass and do well in the class then you will need to study all the time.
I got an A+ but that's only because I have previous Spanish knowledge and experience, if you aren't fond of the Spanish language get ready to struggle. I taught myself majority of the topics, compositions were tough, we had her during the COVID-19 pandemic and she had 0 compassion. Don't take her if you really want to learn Spanish...
If you get Velasquez as a professor, opt-out of her class asap. She is very demeaning towards students who do not fully understand the language. She made me feel very stupid multiple times. The grading system is ridiculous and makes you feel like you are in 8th grade again. She did not teach me 1 ounce of Spanish. I ended up teaching myself.
Do not take her. Velasquez is unprofessional, unclear in her expectations, and degrading towards her students. Your educated will be reduced down to earning stamps. It is up to you to teach yourself. All she does in class is review homework packets and talk about herself. I am completely unprepared for Spanish 4, do yourself a favor and avoid her.
She seems nice at first and dont be fooled by her extra credit stars cause you will need them later. She is the worst educator I have ever taken in my life. she does not teach and just tells you, you should of learned that already in Spanish 1. She intimidates students and makes them feel stupid on the spot. She is not considerate or understanding
Prof V is a no-nonsense teacher, but her life stories offer comic relief. She makes you work for your grade. This is not the class if you want to just coast. Show up, participate, memorize the conjugations, and prepare to not be babied. I am not a native Spanish speaker but I still got an A even though I work full-time and go to school. Take her!
Taking 2320 now. ABOUT HER: She's loud, not rude. Taught while recovering from COVID herself, she's inspiring overall. If you show effort, she'll help you. Any prof teaching language expects you to know stuff from past classes, makes no sense to be mad about this. XC offered, not in syllabus. Attendance/Participation help come finals. Love her!!
This professor is the worst professor Ive ever had. She blames you for her wrong doings and says you should act like an adult. She had COVID and still taught so she expects you to be in class at all costs. She will expose you if you have to take her class again. Doesnt teach, just goes over worksheets and tells uninteresting stories. DO NOT TAKE
She might be the worst professor at Texas state. The fact that she was paid for this last semester of instruction is appalling to me. She picks favorites, and kids who she doesnt like she makes it known she does not like you. Offered no review for the final, extremely tough grader, little to no resources outside of class. Do not take her.
Profe Velásquez does not make you practice Spanish in class. You go over homework, and she expects you to learn via PowerPoints and reading the textbook. She often vents about personal issues and rants off topic when you could be talking to each other in Spanish and actually learning. If you learn by actively practicing, this class is NOT for you.
Profe Velasquez does not make you practice Spanish in class besides going over homework, which takes up MOST of class. If you learn by actively practicing language, this class is NOT for you. She often vents about personal issues as well as rants off topic when you could be learning. She expects you to learn via PowerPoints and reading the book.
The worst professor I have ever had. I'm a senior and I have never had a worse experience with an educator in my life. She is extremely rude, unprofessional, and takes her job way too seriously. Responds to emails w/ the least amount of words possible and genuinely does not want her students to succeed. She's a power hungry, sorry excuse of a prof.
I was terrified to take Spanish II because I'm a bad speaker, but Profesora Velasquez made every student feel very comfortable in participating. If you do something wrong she tells you good job and lets you learn from your mistakes. She cares so much about her students and was there for us even when she was suffering from a medical emergency.
If you have the option, do NOT take Professora Velasquez. Shes a tough grader, offers very little in the way of help, and doesnt care about your struggles with learning the language. Overall was a terrible professor, even though I did learn something in her class.
Had daily homework, which we went over in class. As long as you had that done, you could easily participate and follow along as she explained questions. I never felt stupid when I was wrong and I got a good grade, just have to pay attention and participate.
She thinks because she got COVID twice and survived its not a big deal. Class was taken online during the pandemic. She said if you get COVID or get stuck outside the country to not email her, she wouldnt respond. The tests, and homework are completely different materials. She spends class time going over the homework only theres no instruction.
Professora Velasquez is the worst professor I have ever had and I am a senior. She is rude and not helpful at all. She expects a lot and assigns daily homework that doesn't help with learning the information at all. Do not take her!
Did you take Spanish all four years of high-school? Excellent, an easy A for you my friend. If you didn't, prepare to have textbook work thrown at your face without proper review. My heartfelt condolences go out to anyone who has this professor, you'll be expected to form concise and grammatically correct sentences without learning the very basics.
Definitely a fun professor but not very understanding of the fact that not every student has the luxury to only focus on school and is able to come to every class. She is very encouraging though when it comes to students speaking the language.
Professor V def means well & she is a very nice woman but I would not take her again. She is extremely strict w attendance/participation. Zoom lectures not recorded so if you could not attend, expect to have no idea what is going on in class next time. Needless to say, if you show up to class everyday & do the hw you should be ok. Do not miss class
I absolutely loved her and found her to be fair. She didn't give us a lot of homework. The homework we had to do was in the connect and It was the same amount that you take in 1410. Just pay attention and ask her for help she will be there for you
Don't take her Study guides were not like the test, graded very hard on composition. The first test not everyone did so well and I wish we could have retaken it because it was way too long and even she agreed with us. Also everything was so last minute. We had test 3, the final, and our oral presentation the last week, it was too much.
If you can take any other language professor I suggest doing so. She expects you to already know a lot of subjects that were taught in her previous course, but not everyone had taken her before. Her reviews were also nothing like her tests which is bad. The only thing that saved me was the curves she had to make since most people failed her tests.
If you haven't been with her since SPAN 1410, you're going to get the short end of the stick every time. There is lots of homework, but she will explain things you missed out on with a little bit of pushback. She does not do in person anymore despite the course being hybrid. She has a short fuse and will make you fill in the blanks for the tarea.
There are a lot of negative reviews regarding Mrs.V and I think sternness and having set expectations do not equal a bad teacher. If you do what you are supposed to do and actively participate you will be absolutely fine. She offers help and assistance to students who try and apply themselves. Overall she gave me a good foundation for Spanish 2.
She is very short tempered and judgemental of her students. Her workload is not okay especially if your are taking hard classes already. She can be sweet but definitely picks her favorites in the class and It has taken her 2 months to remember my name in a class of 20 people.
Claims to be passionate about teaching, but very little of that actually happens. Lectures are non-existent and you are expected to show up ready without any direction. There is a difference between being firm, and then just being flat-out rude and distasteful. I think the grades definitely reflect her inability to teach.
Prof. V can be tough but you can really tell she cares about you learning the language. Do not take her if you're not willing to put in the effort. Participation is easy as long as you do the tarea and are ready to share your answers in class. She will respect you if you do the work and show effort, but she will not if you are lazy.
This Professor does not teach often. Do not expect to have lectures where she explains the material, you will be teaching yourself. She is very mean spirited and will talk down on students who struggle and refuse to help anyone who fell behind or missed a class and will encourage other students to not help them. Avoid at all cost.
Listen do not take this class if you plan on not going to class or participating. This professor really cares about you learning and doesn't put up with slackers. Attendance is mandatory, and she gives clear instructions on expectations. She really knows the language and wants you to learn. The material isn't hard as long as you study.
If you are taking multiple classes, have a job, or both, take a different professor. She seems to expect that this is your only class for the semester. She focused almost exclusively on the homework assignments and almost never lectured out of the book that I remember. I have so much to say about her but am limited to 350 characters.
I have so much to say and yet only 350 words. She does pick favorites without names, she puts her personal opinion into the lang and somehow speaks for all of Mexico? You better study, do the homework, show up, and participate or your grade will drop hard. Have outside tutoring as she doesn't always understand what you are asking and isn't helpful
350 words can not describe how unprofessional she is. not sure how she is still a professor at txst. Was very unprofessional to me on multiple accounts, sided with another student about my grade, has 0 compassion for anyone. Learned more about her uninteresting life than I did actual Spanish. Avoid her !! Very rude and disrespectful worst prof.
I was only in her class for a few days, and I'm lucky to have escaped. She seemed uninterested in helping students who may struggle and seemed to take pride in having a difficult class. It's Spanish II, not the Navy, Gloria.
You literally have to read the textbook for this woman. Her lecture spent going over the homework. If you have a choice, don't take her. Another thing to add she is that absolutely embarrass you in front of the class. She doesn't make learning a language easy at all.
Each typical class session usually begins with a rant about how hard to pass her class is + how her students are 'failures,' + then going over homework. That's actually it. If you have any legitimate interest in learning Spanish, she doesn't teach/lecture + her demeanor towards teaching is sad, I would turn the other cheek. Watch your attendance!
This class took up so much of my time. There are multiple textbook and weekly assignments along with 3 comprehension exams, a final, and 2 oral exams. This was 100% my hardest class. Be ready to work hard or fail if you take this teacher.
Skip class and you won't pass. She has had a hard upcoming life and thinks you should too. Barely lectures, 3 homework assignments due every week not including the in person hw. Participation is graded unfairly, there's not 3 chances every class to earn participation. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, IM TRYING TO SAVE YOU!
Most anxiety inducing class i've taken at TxSt. If you don't participate you'll get a 0, that'll catch up with you at the end of the semester. Sometimes chooses favorites, LOTS of homework and handouts, expects you to understand spanish after first couple of weeks. Overall very difficult class that made me sob and spiral :) take at own risk.
This class is not difficult if you still remember a lot of information from Spanish 1 and 2. That being said, Dr.Velasquez spoke a lot about her personal life. A lot of her lectures were about how hard her life was when she was younger and how she is always sick. I do not recommend taking her class if you do not already have some spanish background
Professor Velasquez is a very demanding professor, opinionated and projects herself into the version of Spanish she feels is valid. She is a hard grader and yet passionate about what she is teaching. She tells you her life story with education because she is a very ego person. Show up, do the work and stay on her good side. She is Mama Coco!
These reviews make professor Velasquez out to be a lot worse than she is. This class is tough, but not impossible. Participate, ask questions, go to her office hours, etc. She does care and will help you if you need it. She does tell a lot of stories, but she is super interesting.
These reviews make her sound like the devil, she is actually a fun and caring teacher. These reviews seem to forget this is a 4 credit class, meaning more work. Ofc if you're lazy you will fail, just study and participate and you will pass. I think her stories were cute and show cased why she cares so much for spanish.
Profesora. Velasquez is an amazing professor. I have taken her 2 times already and I am getting ready to take her in the summer. If you are truly passionate about learning spanish then I highly suggest taking her, because she will put you to work. I am far from a native speaker, I am a white american girl.
I've had two Spanish professors here at txst and I can confidently say she was the best and honestly one of my fav professors. She's giving Mexican grandma vibes in the best way possible. The workload can be a lot and possibly difficult, but she is more than happy to help. Put in the effort, and you'll do great!
I don't think I've ever been more confused in a class than I was in this one. Dr. Velasquez doesn't really teach — the classes consisted of her going over homework and then assigning more. She rarely explained what she was doing and just seemed to expect us to know everything already. If you can, I strongly recommend finding another professor!
Very disappointed with the other reviews. This is a very difficult subject, and if you are judging a professor on that alone it isn't fair.Velasquez is the best professor I've ever had. She is fair, understanding, and overall a lovely person. I wish I took her for all 4 of my SPAN classes. If you don't want to put in the effort, take someone else.
Very caring professor.
Horrible. Made the class clap for me when i “finally answered a question correctly” when i was scared to answer bc if you're wrong she will embarrass you in front of everyone. She just picks a student to pick on the whole semester. Doesn't teach and only talks about herself. Expects you to already have a foundation in spanish. Find a new professor.
She is a good professor overall she goes over homework and mainly assigns more. Her classes are interesting, never know what new story you'll hear. If you don't have a spanish background I do not recommend have to know the basics and attendance is really important
