He is a hard teacher. He is very into the subject and trys to relate it to what is in the press today. He never gives EC and he has you write a 10 page paper. His tests are hard. He writes his own books to get more money altho his books are very one sided! He always reminds everyone that he is #1.
This prof will make you buy his expensive workbook that he wrote. You have to tear out the pages so that you can't return it. This prof seems to only like to talk about black/white racial issues. He obviously has a chip on his shoulder.
I took his class self-paced & by reading the comments thats the way to go! I loved it! His tests were MC 50 questions and they were easy! I made an A & I waited till the last 3wks of the semester to start taking my exams. it does suck that he makes you buy his $75 book & you can't return it.
I found this professor to be well informed, fair, and his textbook organized in a way that is easy to read and understand. The study guide makes preparing for exams very efficient. As a student contemplating taking this class, you will get out of it exactly what you put into it.
Pro. Newman is a good teacher. He know his work, but do tends to speak on black/white issues alot. when you do your assignment, you know more. go to class and depending on your govt. skills, you can pass his class w/o a problem.

Took him for a wintermester and it was a good class I learned a lot and he was very helpful to me. I'd like to take him again ,,,,,,,,,but I'm done with gov't.
Hated both of his classes! Very boring. He was so full of himself and talked so much about other stuuf I didn't learn anything. He wrote his own textbook which should have been proofread before it was published. All of the mistake in it made it very hard to understand.
Took the first govt. class with him self-paced, made an A. Took the second with him in class, made a B. Had I not gone to class and been distracted, I think I would have done better. Wonderful man, but wasn't the best teacher for me.
This professor is very hard. Unless you are a political science major looking for a serious challenge, I would not recommend this professor!
Watch out. Not only is this teacher VERY hard, but he goes off the subject about many useless things. He is nice at points and some of his tests are not as hard as others. Those are his only good points though I assure you. I dropped after trying to stay a few weeks, but it was impossible.
Newman is the cockiest undereducated professor around. Armed with a master’s degree and a big mouth most of his lectures revolve around what an elites he is because he is a professor(with no PhD) who happened to write a paperback book full of spelling errors and probably crammed full of inaccurate information. His book is dishonestly costly.
I took his GOVT I and GOVT II classes together and walked them. He does get off subject on a regular basis, and his book is pricy for a paperback with so many errors; however, the tests covery 2-3 chapters & each chapter is only 3-6 pages long. To get an "A": read the chapters (6-18 pages). That's it. Really nice guy just dont get on his bad side.

I admire this guy for his greediness to make money off community college students, on a stupid book that is totally contradicting with it's own workbook. He always say go with the book,but grades it by the workbook answers,which is mostly wrong and off subject in someparts. The book has about a thousand mistakes, but he only admits to only 2

Talk about taking advantage of college students. This guy makes you buy the book that he wrote, which sucks by the way, and then wants you to rip pages out of it so that it is worth nothing when you are done. This teacher is the perfect example of why you don't take a class where the teacher wrote his own book. He is just a money grubbing moron.
he is a pompous, ****, elitist who lives to rip off his students any way he can while also being ofensive to everyone who isn't a middle class republican. Participated in gay bashing in class among other things, makes you sign a waiver at the beginning of the semester giving him the rights to your work. Then steals your work and takes credit.
his online class isn't too tough. though he doens't resopond to emails as fast as he should. he also takes awhile to post grades. i do agree w/ other comments about the book. good thing he' not an english teacher, many grammar errors in the book!

This professor is the epitome of low life. First he robs the students by charging a rediculas fee for the book he wrote based on his bias views of politics. Then if students produce any kind of creative or original form of ideas that he likes he plagiarizes them. In addition his tests are out to get you with loaded questions.
I took his online class only because I had no other choice. 8-10 page paper over reconstruction! I was not happy with the price of the book, not to mention that you can't sell it back. Basically, believe what the others are saying here.

the book was high. It sucked. He made you write in it and refused copies so you could not sell it back. I know more about his peruit of a PHD than anything in his government class. The list never ends and I won't waste anymore time on a horrible professor. I'm not bashing him, it really is my truest feelings. To each his own

Very funny. The mid-term paper was hard, but he is totally generous. As long as you come to class, do the work in the book, and do whatever he simply wants it's easy. He is a great teacher and I recommended him to all my friends.

Easiest teacher you will ever take in College. He writes his own book so yea his book is costly, Not much, but its very comprehensive. Just do your work and test and it is a piece of cake!!! I recommend you take him!!!!... especially online.
Took his Govt class online in summer 2. The semester has been going for a week and I am through with the work. The class is easy but the book costs $113 and you have to tear pages out so you cannot sell it back or buy used. I'm not on financial aid so that was way to much to pay for a book that feels like a coloring book from the dollar store.
I think that he is a good person. Tells stories during class that sometimes do not go with the lesson. His book is easy and helpful. I think he would like to be helpful, but then says he's too busy. I was doing well in the class, but his tests that are hard to understand is what brought my grades way down. He loves talking about himself too.
His book is WAY overly priced and you cant resale it. His class isn't that difficult just make sure you read all the material he tells you to read cause it WILL be in the test. As long as you pay attention and stroke his VERY BIG ego every now and then you should pass fairly. Hope you like to listen to someone talk on a soapbox all day though.
Not too hard, but he is very late to class almost daily but gets mad when u r late. He makes money off the students from his overprices workbook he make u tear out the pages. Full of himself.
Mr. Newman's online class was easy.A major part of your grade is tear out questions from the book which are really easy to do.He makes you write 4 summaries over articles which is easy.Just make sure you anwser the 3 questions for each summary completly.I plan to take him for the next govt section.
Overall hes a pretty good teach. He is extremely arrogant and shows a lot of favoritism. Make sure you do ALL of the essays and you should be fine. I would recommend taking his online class because during lecture he gets way off subject and usually talks about 5-10 minutes after class is over.
Didn't really like the class. The first day he told us that if we came in 5 min early we were "on time" and "on time" was late. The rest of the semester he came in every day 15 to 20 min late. He gets off topic all the time and tends to turn many things into race issues when it's not necessary. The book wasn't cheap either.
I took Mr Newman's Govt 1 & 2 course and it was very easy. I had to write 4 papers on different subjects and it took me just 2 hrs to complete. The test were easy and the homework is very simple. I would recomend Mr Newman to anyone needing to complete govt. Great professor
Newman is awful! He was not helpful at all. I took him online and it was like no one was even teaching. I would send him emails and he would not respond. The book was too expensive and very poorly written. Even though I made an A in the class, I would not recommend him to anyone.
I took this class online and it was so bad. You have to teach yourself in order to make a passing grade on the test. He gives "assignments" that last like a week and its sue at the end but its a lot of work. He does not try and help you in any way!!! He does not use email! So dont even bother with that! I would not recommend this class at all!
Took this class online. He wrote the textbook and it's a little pricey but you have to buy it & it's EASY to follow. About 4-5 800-word summary's over VERY hard-to-follow articles. Aside from having to read the articles, the tests were easy & straight out of the book.
I took 2301 & 2302 online. I took 2301 during Summer session - DEFINITELY take his summer course (online). It was an easy A. His textbook is easy to read/follow and the tests are straight from the book. He isn't very responsive but if you can read the textbook and follow the syllabus, then it's an easy A.
easiest online class ever!!! book is pricey but if you take him for 2301 you will use the same book for 2302!! everything is on the syllabus and he is very clear about what is due and when. if you think to hard about it you will get confused, he makes it plain and simple so its your fault if you fail.
The man is useless online and in class. My friend took his lecture and if he felt you didn't read well enough he told you to leave. Online he does not use e-mail, never posts any form of announcments, is hands off, and the course is unorganized. My brother had him before me and many of the students reported him to the dean for his bad attitude
He is very Knowledgeable about politics. I really enjoy his class! He will lock the door 5 or 10 mins after class is suppost to start. However, he is a very fair professor!
I guess most negative reviews are from lazy people. i had no problem in his class. He is the first to show what APA style looked like, we talked about current events, i wish the book was cheaper though, but he is a good professor. fair person and humorous. Warning: He is working toward a PHD so and its driving him crazy in a good way.

GOVT 2301-2302 online I took both @the same time great deal! Easy A/B! Just do the study guide and read youll pass easy test easy pre test easy quizes Easy paper easy everything just give the class your time and all will fall in place. this is nt just a bunch of bs take govt 1 and 2 easy A!
Took his class online for maymester. I did not buy the book so i could not do any of the work. I emailed him, called him, tried finding him at the school and i never got a hold of him, he never called back or wrote back. BUT even though i DIDNT do any work, he still gave me an A!
I took an online section with this instructor but he never answered my emails, so I had to change to a flex-term section with another professor. If communication is indispensable for you, avoid.
This teacher rocks!! He makes the class not boring at all and gets the class involved in discussions. You leave with an open mind after the class is over. He puts so much enthusiasm into his discussions. He makes you really think on the Government. take this professor he will make you become a wiser student. He also cares about your future.
he was inbetween. i dont like the fact that he grades us based on his mood nd not the work that we do. dont build a personal relationship with him o he'll be harsher on ur grade. nd he randomly misses class nd never tells us prior to when he's gonna be abbsent. so we show up nd he's not there!!!!!!!!
I took Mr. Newman on line for both parts 2301/2302. He was not hard, but not easy either when it comes to communcation or responding back in a timely manner with questions or concerns. He lost some of my work that I turned in as well as not posting assignments when he say he would. Very rude at times when you did ask or have a question. There times
I took this as an online Summer I class. I did the whole class in 3 days. The first day I did the assignments for Ch 1-6. The second day I did Ch 7-12. The third day I did all 4 online, untimed tests. It was soooooo easy. I made an A and only did a total of 10-12 hours of work. THAT IS AWESOME!
I'm not sure why all the negative reviews. I enjoyed Newmans class and so long as you follow the syllbs and do your HW you'll do well. He requires you to be ON TIME and PREPARED. He is very knowledgeable with the material. Makes class fun, interesting and cares about students. He is available for you if you approach him after class or at his office
His class was really easy, but he was impossible to contact. When he did reply to his emails it took days. He also apparently lost my work.
I took his ONLINE summer class and it was pretty forward on what to do. The book you have to purchase he wrote it so it is mandatory! You also have to tear out quizzes and these study guides. His test were multiple choice, 40 questions, no time limit. I would recommend him to anyone!
I took Professor Newman for wintermester online. I made a A+ . His syabllus is straigtfoward. You read about 4 pages for each chapter. Easy Read. I think as long as you read, look at the powerpoint and do the sample test, and pretest you can't fail.
I took his 2301 and am taking his 2302 (both online). You have to buy his book NEW because you complete the sample tests at the end of each chapter and turn them in. He has a review in the back of the book for each chapter and tests come straight from the book. Easy A. He doesn't respond well to emails.

Take the class online!!!... it's alot easier that the class. I took his class Maymester and finished it in two days. All the test content is straight out of the book (which is his own), but you can use it for the follow up class. Easy A - I'll be taking Summer II 2011 with him as well.
Took 2301 in Summ 1 and 2302 in Summ 2. Easy! You do have to purchase his book (approx $125.00) Read 4-5 pg chapters, fill out short answer questions and practice test, and take the test. Done. Doesn't respond quickly to emails.

Easy class. I took the 2302 class online in which most of the material i learned in my D1 University class. Just read the book (his own)take the practice exams, and comprehend the material and its a breeze. You can probably finish the class in 5-6 hours if you pace yourself. Classes don't get any easier than this, it's a joke.
I took this professor for Government I and II and am so GLAD I did! With my busy schedule and summer, this online class was the BOMB! Made an A in both classes!

Easy A! With my busy schedule and fulltime job this class was perfect. Used samr book for both 1301 & 1302, some tests, end of chapter h.w. pages and discussion board forums to write and your done.
I took the class online, and if you do the assignments and pre-tests, it's easy. But God help you if you miss something. He doesn't allow late work and the penalty is HUGE. You need to get the book new because you have to rip out the original pages for the after chapter stuff.
I loved his class. He taught me back in 2004 and I would have taken every class he offered if my schedule allowed it. Great guy and great class...not a birdie class but worth it!

I took this class online in Summer I. You have to purchase the professors book, which is costly. But the class was so easy. The book spells out everything you need to know. 12 HW assignments, 4 tests, 2 short paragraphs and youre done. Easy A and you learn a lot.

I took both GOVERNTMENT 2301 and 2302 classes. One of the best teachers EVER! He loves when a student knows the material and then some. 2301 I took in class but 2302 I took during Summer II and finished the class in 6 days. EASY A and highly recommend him!!

His class was chilling. You had to summarize 5 federalist papers, 2 test on some videos, and 5 tests. The tests where easy since they came straight from the workshhets. Overall, he is helpful and the class is average.

Mr. Newman is a great professor I took the class online and all of the test and quizzes come straight from the book. There are not many discussions and there are chapter summarizations and quizzes after each chapter and those will be used on the test. He returned my emails quickly and was VERY helpful. I would recommend Dr. Newman to any student

Took his online TX government. Don't let the fact that he writes his own textbook scare you. Everything is right from the book. Easy A, and the book is easy to read. 4 chapter summaries, 4 tests, 2 discussion boards. Great class, great guy.

Overall easy A. His book is expensive, but I'm taking him for Texas government as well and he uses the same book for both classes. The only hard part writing the summaries on some hard to read content. His tests are straight from the book and easy though. Take him!
This class was very easy. However, I was very annoyed by how poorly written his book is. It was as if no one even attempted to edit the book. It has WAY too many typos and poor grammar to cost over $100.

Horrible teacher! This is probably the hardest B I have ever worked for. I have no idea how I got an B because I didn't learn jack in his class.... actually I feel more confused about politics now! If he is your only choice, just wait for the next semester!
I took class based on old reviews.Took online in maymester. exams aren't bad, the quizzes are 5 questions on about 30 pages of articles not related to book. they are a big portion of your grade and are VERY difficult. don't recommend! im a A student and got a 86 with lots of effort.possible to make an A but NOT an easy A!Dont take short semester!

Took his class online Spring '14. Was able to meet during his office hours for further insight regarding assignments. COMMUNICATION IS KEY! The PSCI scholarly journals are the most challenging part of his course and prepared me for an advanced level PSCI class I'm taking at a university. Very blessed to have met his man. Excellent professor!

I found many mistakes in his book. Emailed him regarding these mistakes and he never responded. Granted this was an online course. Was never able to get any questions answered. Not taking 2306 with him.
Will not be taking him next semester. Good man, but the lectures we go over tend to fall off subject. It would be nice to have a review for the quizzes and exams. Felt as if I was doing an online course instead. The quizzes are not word for word from the articles or books.
Excellent professor. He has clear expectations outlined in his syllabus and he follows them. Do assignments and read passages and textbook chapters - you're guaranteed to pass the class. Quizzes can sometimes be difficult, but tests come directly from the textbook. Only one required paper to be submitted towards the end of the semester.

I took his online class, and when I had questions, he would answer his emails at a decent time. Get ready to actually read, you'll be doing evaluations on the chapters.
I recommend you take him for a whole semester! The work is understanding and you will pass his class as long as you complete all the work. Simple as that. Get ready to take notes, test, and essays. But trust me as long as you pay attention you will be fine. His lectures are very interesting! He is a very great teacher!

Newman is a great caring individual. If you have a question don't hesitate to attend his office hours. Don't forget to read the book, if plan things out you will get that A.
Dr. Newman is one of the most inspirational professors I've had the pleasure of having. Recommend taking him in the morning if you aren't a morning person, he'll wake you up! Majority of grades linked to information in the book- read. He doesn't take BS so don't give him the chance to boot you out of class- he will. Respect him and he respects you.

If you have the opportunity to take Dr. Newman, do it. I can't speak for his online class; however, his lecture class was incredible. If you aren't a morning person, take him at the 8 Am and he'll give you the motivation and wake up call to tackle the day. Charismatic individual, one of the best professors I've had. Should be at a prestigious UNI.
I took Professor Newman online during summer. The quizzes were based on the articles which were very hard to get through (complicated topics, a lot of difficult concepts). 5 tests, 5 quizzes, 5 reading evaluations, and a final exam. I wouldn't recommend him if you are looking for an easy way out. His syllabus is very confusing!
Whoever said his book is trash lied. The man wrote it himself and literally has the tests spelled out for you! It's not like some crazy long textbook that has a bunch of unnecessary info. I love the man as a human and as a professor. If you're looking for someone interesting and understanding than take this class.
Take this class! This online class was easy to follow and not hard at all. Dr. Newman requires that you buy the textbook he wrote. It comes with an access code. He uses a site outside of Blackboard to teach and it's simple to use. His book has Chapter Outlines in the back that are also answers to his homework & exams. You have to read to pass!
Dr. Newman is an exceptional professor but an even greater person. He uses his own book for the class and structured it so that even the most ADHD of people can follow and succeed. Dr. Newman not only teaches you about politics but gives you pointers on how to further yourself in life and insights on finance and economics. Passionate and hilarious.
Gets off topic a lot. With us he put us in groups and made us present in front of the class. The more prepared the better. Get ready for questions even if you don't talk. He likes when you visit his office, that will help if you need a letter of recommendation.
I had Professor Newman for GOVT 2305 and 2306, both of them online during the summer. The course was very easy; it took me about an hour to finish each unit, and I finished the entire course in about a week both times. I strongly recommend that people take his course, he wrote his own book which he uses with the work and it is a very course.
Dr. Newman was the best professor I have taken for my first online college course. He was very helpful and understanding with any issues when taking the online course. If you are thinking about taking an online course in GOVT, I would recommend Dr. Newman. The textbook provided was by him and it easy to understand. Finishing the class is a breeze.
Hes a very enthusiastic teacher and even though I had his class really early I wasnt falling asleep or dreading it because he always kept the class interesting, most of the work is online and there are occasional tests during class but there not too bad
I took Professor Newmans online course. He gives a list of what work will be due in the syllabus before the course starts,which gives you the opportunity to finish the course early. You will use his book,be prepared to read. He responds to emails clearly. I totally recommend his course ,you will learn a lot about government.
Taking this online class was not that quite difficult. Although, there is a lot of reading and completing unit questions. As long as you read the syllabus and followed his schedule (which you did not have to--just had to finish assignments before the final day) you were successful.
I had his class on campus early in the morning, but his lectures kept me awake and interested. As a person who isn't into this subject, he really kept his students focused by having jokes and fun with the class. His tests are from the PowerPoint along with the questions from the back of the textbook. Pretty straightforward and not a lot of work.
I took his class online in wintermester. Everything is self paced. There are 4 Units, each one consists of an Evaluation of Ideas, Quiz, and an Exam. There is also a two discussion boards, a pre-test exam, and a final (both are the same questions and questions from all exams so I advise saving the exams in a word document or something). Take him.
Everything is explained and broken down to lamin terms. You have to buy his book new ($150+) to have the access code for all the work through GRTEP, which sucks because its the same as blackboard.. Mr Newman's repetitiveness in his teaching etiquette is surpurb causing it all to stick. Take him.
Took his class for 2306 as well in a Maymester, and enjoyed it. His grading criteria is clear. Around 4-5 exams on the website platform he uses for the class, including 4 Fill in the blank assignments, 4 5-Q's quizzes, and 3 discussion boards. Self paced with all assignments, tests due at the last day of the flex term. Ebook gives ALL answers.
Newman writes his own book and then makes his students pay $150-$300 to buy an access code for it. All assignments are done on GRTEP instead of blackboard so you have to buy the book. It's selfish and inconsiderate because I was taking this class online during wintermester so I should not have to pay an extra $300 to use his book.
Took Professor Newman for Govt 2306 for this past wintermester. one of the easiest professors ive had by far. Easy tests and quizzes, easy homework. He does require you purchase his book but the way its written makes it easy to understand Government so I did not mind purchasing it at all. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR you wont regret it.
Well worth the time and money. The book is extremely expensive, but it is definitely needed to complete all assignments. The chapters are actually easier to understand since the Professor wrote it himself. Tests and quizzes are really easy. You can use the outlines from the chapters. Almost all answers are in the chapters itself.
The newest version of the textbook, written by the professor with several typos and grammatical errors, is MANDATORY. If you take the class online you cannot access the 3rd party website where your classwork is unless you buy the textbook. Professors like this are me least favorite and had I know this I would not have taken his class.
I took this class in the Summer and it was one of the best I've taken so far! The professor was very caring and he responded to emails quickly. The class requires a lot of reading and note taking . The quizzes are not very hard as long as you read the book you will pass with an easy A.
I took this class in 2019 and I remember last week of the class I emailed him to grade the discussions because he didnt grade them. It said on the class syllabus that discussions was worth 20 or 50 points, I dont remember. Thats why I got a B in his class because he never graded my discussions I did. I wouldnt recommend this teacher b/c of that
Easy online class
Dr. Newman is a great teacher. I took both GOVT 2305 and GOVT 2306 with Dr. Newman and for both classes, I recommend taking his class. He takes some time to respond to emails, but is very thorough with his explanations if you're confused with something.
I want other students to know that this professor requires you to purchase his textbook brand new. The cost was $170 when I found a used one for $30 at the bookstore. The used textbooks won't have an access code. If you are paying out of pocket, this can really set you back. I would not recommend.
He uses different software for the class. Lots of work every week. Weird schedule. All in all good class.
Took him GOV2306. Easy class! PowerPoint were helpful in exams and quizzes.
Easy A. Just read chapters and take quizzes and exams. Test questions are in the book. Discussions are automatic A's when turned in on time.
super easy class literally all tests and quizzes are words to word from his textbook. you have to read the textbook but I found the textbook chapters to be pretty interesting. I took the online class so I had the textbook next to me when taking the assessments. he graded his FRQs super easily.
I took Prof Newman for my Federal Government class online, and I really enjoyed the course. You will need to read the textbook, but the chapters aren't long and include good study guides for the quizzes. Everything was automatically graded instantly, which was awesome. I'm going to take him for my Texas Government class next.
I did an 8-week course. Follow the due dates on this syllabus; that is when the items are due. I misunderstood the syllabus due dates and received a 0 on an assignment because of it. Aside from the professor's lack of forgiveness for late assignments, the class is super easy. This course can easily be completed in 2 weeks if you dedicate yourself.
Dr. "A"mazing! If you want to LEARN & not get lost with insignificant details, take Dr. Glynn Newmans gov 2305 & 2306. He wrote the book, included chapter outlines, & sample test questions that earned me an A+ in both courses! Four exams, four quizzes, and one final-NO essay! He's a PhD for a reason because he really knows how to teach even online.
Professor Newman's GOV2306 class is a straightforward course. The PowerPoints and textbook he wrote are helpful study tools. For exam prep, I found ChatGPT and Unstuck ai to be great resources alongside the provided materials. Overall, an easy A if you stay on top of the work.
Everything is within the reading materials and must be read to make the test and quizzes easy for you. The Quizzes are especially hard for students. This Professor using a 3rd party website/application which makes the experience that much harder and can throw many students off their game if you enjoy the simplicity of eCampus and using pulse app.
