A tough professor, but I did learn a lot. He was very helpful when students needed extra help, very flexible when students want to take an exam. His lectures are a little hard to take notes from, but his tests are not that hard.

Very hard professor. What he would teach would not be on the tests.
Dr. Ohewerei is a wonderful TEACHER...yeah, he's tough and doesn't like when students are late and if others eat in class, but believe me, if been in the school for a long time and he is one of the only teachers i can say i really learned something from!!
Classes are fun, but his tests are not. Lectures really don't cover anything you need to know. Make sure you read the book.
Couldn't understand a word he said.
Probably the smartest teacher in the entire school.Has vast knowledge and is a big time comedian. I think he thinks he is doing stand up comedy when he starts class each day. Endless jokes...! But learned a lot from his classes, most I have learned here.
The professor is the most inteligent professor I have ever had. He is tough but, if you take good notes and read the book you should make it. He is helpful if you seek help. You learn a lot. Class is always an event. He likes to dress well.
I did not like this professor at all. I am taking him for a statistics class and I dont know what he is teaching.If you ask him a question he always say you should know the work already. So then what is he there for.He is so smart that he cant teach.
An AMAZING professor. He is not an easy prof but he is really good. You learn a lot in his class and his classes are NEVER boring.

Dr. Ohiweiri is probably the most misunderstood and underappreciated professor at NJCU. He is neither popular or well liked by the majority of the student body due to his unique teaching style. This is a shame for he is an excellent professor.
Read the text and he'll tell you really funny real life stuff that makes the text make sense and stick in your head. His tests are hard but I'll remember this stuff FOREVER. Favorite quote: mother's raise their daughter but they just love their boys.
I LOVED HIM! If you do the reading and take lots of notes, you will pass. I got an A and learned a great deal! If you goof off, you will not pass. Must take notes and read but is VERY INTERESTING and FUNNY! CANT wait to take him again. Sit in front!
A nice professor. He is very thorough in his teachings. he does not like lateness. Sociology of the family was an ok course. He works you a lot because he is also the chairperson of the dept of Sociology. He is cool.

He is a good teacher but not good for the students. He needs to focus on being a teacher not a comedian becasue when the test come around you know nothing and he doesnt' care.
HE'S VERY FUNNY. But focus on taking good notes on EVERYTHING w/out getting too distracted by his comical lectures. Usually gives very few tests(essay)+paper. This can be a minus if you're not one who can establish a good grade w/limited chances to do so. Too good to pass up if you can handle it.
This professor was great, the grade I receive was the effort I put in. I was not focus this semester underpressure too many task he respect me when I told the truth. That makes a different . I will take him again and will concentrate. Keep up the good work Dr Godwin. Thanks for speaking life

You get what you put in it. you must study, but you will learn,he teaches about life the situation we deal with everyday in our own lives. take a minute to get to know the man, he is more than just a professor, he cares and will assist you in your career. GREAT TEACHER!!
Dr. O is one of the best I've encoutered and his know his stuff well.The truth is you must work and understand that he uses stats in everything.
I really liked this class and math is my worst subject. You have to study in his class but it is worth it. You really get what you put in it. I Will be taking him in the future, besides it is not like you can avoid him, he is the only one that teaches stats.

He is really funny, but you have to stay on your toes. PAY ATTENTION! OR YOU WILL FALL BEHIND! Exams are hard, but not if you STUDY and not study two min. b4 exam you need to plan and spend hours. Stats is hard as you make it, stay on top of it from start to finish. "HARD WORK BUILDS CHARACTER."

A funny man. the class is very entertaining but make sure you are up on your work don't depend on him to be up on the chapters because all those jokes he tells wont be on the tests. and you wont be laughing at the end of the semester!
i loved every minute of this class. professor Ohiweiri is so funny and when he talks, he makes it seem that hes talking about my life. he is so on point with everything. as long as you take good notes & read the book you'll do great. i'd love to take him again!!!!
Classes can be interesting with the open discussions and movies, but his tests are very hard, and his assignments can be somewhat unclear. With him it's notes,notes,notes.

I learned so much from him I would take him 20 more times if possible. Just take very good notes and read anything he asks you to and you will more than fine.
He is a pretty good professor...i took this course online....despite that fact he was pretty helpful in answering the questions and getting the course work through...he knows his stuff...will take him again...he does give a lot of course work so be prepare

Dr. Owhierei is a strong professor. If you do not read the materiel and take his notes than you might as well not bother to stay in his class. The material is interesting if you like Sociology Issues. He is very smart and knows his material

Excellent professor, actually I think that he is too smart for the students coming out of the public school system. He gets striaght to the point and if you do what he says read, read ,read! You will do well in his class, however if you looking for handouts go to Hudson County. Best professor I have had in a long time. Study and you will pass.
He NEVER uses the textbook or tells you what sections of the book will be on the test. The quote above is one of the first things he will say to you. He also bits his lip a lot and covers his hand over his mouth. Along with his jokes, these actions contribute to the humor of the class. You can lose 12 points for getting a question wrong. He is such an odd teacher..it feels like your learning nothing at first..but at the end you acutally know alot. Take notes and study. He is the chair..so if ur a major..be careful with his classes.
OK his Basic Stats class is a joke. He talks a lot and sometimes strays away from whatever it is we were suppose to be focusing on. Some of the stuff he says is funny esp. since he looks like he raps with his hand in front of his mouth. The class just seems like a drag.
Hey is very hard and doesn't give a chance to know one to make up any work. Very mean and rude prof. He doesn't care if the student has a problem or a issue with the work.
This man is too funny! I love his class. You'll sit there and think he is talking about your life... That's how on point he is! If you are looking for an easy A.. You wont get it with him!!! He makes you work hard. He knows his stuff so dont try to BS on the essays.(Pointless) Read the book and keep up on the chapters. You should be fine.

I took the online class, responses to email, when he feels like it. Feedback on papers, none. Refused to recognize one paper. I use to love online classes, not any more. Cannot stand this man. And now officially cannot stand sociology because of him.
He's really not a bad teacher. At first you think you are going 2 learn nothing because he doesnt even talk about math. But he does get there and its really not that hard and i am horrible at math. If you just listen to him and go to class every week you'll pass the tests which are pretty fair and easy if you know the material. TIP- NO CELL PHONES
took his class online, he gives easy assignments my first online class wasn't bad. he doesnt really email back but the assignments are self explanatory i got a B+ but didn't really try on the assignments only midterm and final kind of hard
Dr.Ohiwerei is an awesome professor, He has helped me so much that I can never thank him enough. If your looking for an easy A, dont think your getting it from him. He is human so he does understand if people have issues, although you need to understand he probably has peole every single day with some sort of problem.
Great prof. a 4 hour class went by very fast. funny and keeps u guessing. u will work, but u will learn.
Ohiwerei needs to be dismissed from the Sociology Department for lack of professionalism, disinterest in students and total incompetence in teaching Intro to Social Stats.
Absolutely no feedback, takes forevever to get grades that are unfair, and any information.
He doesn't tolerate student participation, refuses to review exams after he fails everyone and disdains his captive audiences who have paid a lot of money to sit in on his lectures. Other than that, I guess he is a decent professor.

this professor goes on and on about a whole bunch of nothing. he wears his pants up to his chest and he's about 5 foot 4in. He reminds me of erkel wit his glasses on the tip of his nose. after he talks to you about ntn he gives a test on the material in the book. you will definitely use the bk if u have his class. Had this guys online class. I wouldn't recommend it. He never responds to emails. Never gives you reasons as to why ur grade is what it is. I really can't believe that he actually allowed to teach. This was a waste of my time and money.
Had this professor online and he is horrible. Never responds to any emails. no discussion of any kind. This professor is ridiculous. Had to withdraw to avoid failing the class after opening the midterm and being completely dumbstruck even after reading the textbook. Rather have a class in person with a different professor.
The first and last online class I will ever take. I have tried to contact him numerous times with no luck. He gives grades with no feedback to help students improve. The worst professor I have ever had.

I don't even know where to begin. I took the online class and it was the worst experience I have ever had. I never got a reply to an email. Never recieved a single paper back. In fact, there was no instruction or teaching at all! This is a serious problem.
Awful professor! He yells at us when we want him to repeat something. He tells us we are all going to fail his tests. He doesn't even explain why he takes off points on his exams. Oh and he loves humiliating his students in front of everyone if they have a cell phone. I get we can't use phones but c'mon you don't have to embarrass them like that
One of the most intelligent professors at njcu. ALl u have to do to pass his class is listen carefully and go home and practice and i mean practice his formulas. simple. alot of ppl take his class with prejudgement my advice to you would be to take his class and come up with your own judgement. hard work pays of that what sociology is built from.

BE ON TIME will stop whole class if your late, he comes to class about 5 mins late so that you can be in your seat and ready. go in with an open mind. grades fair do any extra work that he gives will help on yur final grade. Class overall easy. Problem lies with the professor. He is useless. This prof. actually GIVES out grades based purely on his opinion. Make sure your work is getting received! I sent in final and he never told me he didn't get it until after the end of the semester. Has poor communication and is overall horrible. Had to get grade appealed from C-.
I feel sorry for anyone who has to take this class. He thinks he's a stand-up comedian. Does'nt teach well, does not explains anything and goes on and on about trivial stuff. The teacher for this class is the tutor whom he will send you to. Good luck. I feel sorry for you if you can't do the tutoring.
Horrible professor. Never responds to emails. Gives us 5 weekly assignments and then a A or B or C or... grade for all 5 with no explanation as to where mistakes were made. His exams are really hard but that would be fine if you knew what your mistakes were so you can imorove. I would definitely not recommend taking him.
Took his class online. Straight to the point. I never had to email him, so I do not know how he works regarding communication. Easy A, you simply have to follow instructions and log into blackboard frequently.
If you gave this guy a good review, you clearly have a knack for unprofessional instructors who give no help or sense of direction. Took this online class, and I've never so been so confused or lost in my life. This guys so arrogant, that I'm convinced he personally wrote all of his good reviews on this site.
Great Professor! It's not an easy subject matter because we hold ourselves back. We hear stories and walk into the classroom with our very own "hold-backs". There are no surprises in his class. From day one he states his contract to the students and those who return accept the challenge.
the most arrogant professor at NJCU! The online class was the best since I didn't have to hear him speak. Doesn't reply back. He kept comparing his students with HS students saying that they took stats and did great. If he focuses more on teaching and less talking about unrelated topic we would have learned something besides couple relationships
I took the online class. If you are responsible and understand what the expectations are for college students you should be fine. If you are a needy student, this online class is not for you! 8-10 Assignments + mid-term & Final. This should be easy for sophomores and above. I would take this professor again. I learned a lot.
Although it was an online class, I learned so much. He required about 8 assignments, mid-term, and a final.
If you are NOT willing to work hard and actually study, then he is definitely not the professor to take. I noticed that the ones who complained the most were the ones that were not even trying and want an easy breezy class forgetting that it's a college course and not high school. This professor is fair, and knows the subject very well.
I have to say i went into this class really nervous bc i heard so much about this professor. YES he makes you work, YES he doesnt play around, BUT he is the only professor that made me work my behind off and I actually enjoyed his class. Stats is hard and if you want an easy class Good Luck. Study, READ, and do what he says and you WILL be fine.
Although it's an online class, I learned so much. Some questions that he asks on assignment require some research and critical thinking, so due to that I gained a lot of knowledge that I wasn't expecting too through an online course. challenging but so worth it!
I am not even sure why this guy is a professor. He works against you and not with you. Rarely answers emails, and when he does he is rude and petty. Never responds to emails and does not give a single grade on any of the assignments completed.
THIS PROF DOES NOT ANSWER EMAILS. PERIOD. the class itself is very interesting and the work is not light. in fact I would take more sociology classes on family. just. not. with. this. professor. seriously condesending. instructions for final paper unclear and was unwilling to beleive his directions were flawed, but all the students must be dumb.
He was ok but at the same time, he made most of the students feel dumb most of the time that his opinion was the one that was the smartest out of everyone. As long as you take the notes and pay attention and do assignments on time you should be fine but he can be rude/repetive sometimes and treat the students like kids like hello we are all adults
Worst Professor I have ever had at NJCU. He does not respond to emails or give feedback on assignments. He has never given back any of the exams or assignments he graded. He is condescending when you ask for help. This is during the pandemic where all classes are online and he did not have one zoom call and this was a math class.
Professor gave no help in regard to actually teaching his class the material. Given the current circumstances we never even met on zoom for class once. With that, the only help he ever provided was giving us study material rather than actually teaching. Rarely answered emails and was often condescending. Most unhelpful professor Ive ever had.
Not many assignments, I took him for sociology of families. Gave an assignment like once or twice a month, gave us a good amount of time to complete it. The paper is easy if you start it from the beginning so you're not stressing. As long as you have the textbook and read it, the answers for all the homework is right there. Just time consuming.

This class must be some sort of a joke. He wants us to write a 10-page paper on a movie, does NOT answer emails, and does not help students at all.
Pretty sure he only gave us two assignments throughout the semester plus the midterm and final. He gives way more than enough time to finish assignments and if you sign up for the disability office you will get even more time. Make sure to write long responses for the questions, he does not like short responses at all. He responded to my emails.
