At the beginning of the semester, he made it seem like his class would be nothing but fun and easy. As the semester when by, he became very annoying and always say "NO! stop laughing, I'm serious" although he did just told a joke. Overall, Godwin is a okay teacher, hard grader and attendance is a must. Miss 9 days in the semester and FAIL.

By far the worst proffesor, I've had at ARCC. I found he was a very hard professor to understand. He is a super hard grader. I was very confused throughout the entire semester as to what was going on & what he was talking about. I would recommend the class, but I wouldn't recommend it with him.

Godwin treats the class as more a debate class then a communication class. Didn't learn anything about communication at all. Barely used the text book in class so that was a waste of money.

I can say hands down this is the worst professor I have had in a long time. He is completely illogical. For an example, one day we went over a presentation and took notes on it, and the next class that we had with him, he went over the exact same thing. For having a degree in communications, godwin is somehow the most dificult professor I've ever had to do basic communicate with. If you ask him a simple question about an assignment, it's like he will go out of his way to give you anything but a simple answer. He grades on participation but is too un-observant to do this effectively so its a waste.

stay away! He is not specific in what he wants you to do. Does not follow the syllabus at all. You'll be taking test on chapter 1 while he lectures about chapter 4 in class. He never stops talking so that you can get your comments in but yet you are expected to contribute in class for a grade. He will tell you how amazing he is every class. Mocho.

He repeats information and falls behind in lectures. He will repeatedly say that he tells us exactly what he's grading on and that we should be getting good grades if we follow this, but when we actually get our assignments back (even if we made sure we followed his criteria) he takes points off for random reasons. He refuses to give 100% on work.

This guy is nuts. All he does is brag about himself and majority of it is clearly lies. He loves learning so he expects you to be just like him and he grades extremely harsh.

No response to emails and already put the grade in the final grade book. So disappointed. Half of the class he talks about himself and doesn't have anyone else talk. I had Professor Godwin for public speaking and he was the worst professor ever. He was very disrespectful in one on one zoom calls and if you didn't do things the way he wanted then you would fail. He also never gives people a chance to talk during office hours. I would never take a class he's teaching.

I saw ratings of this professor on this website and chose to ignore them since I didn't think it would be that bad. I was wrong. He is one of the toughest graders. I started spending a whole week on the assignments. Citations, by the rubric, everything is perfect. Now, when I have an extremely good response, he'll dock 2 points with no explanation.

I wish I had a heads-up about this professor. Public Speaking has the potential to be fun and helpful. However, with Saporu, I learned nothing. You can expect boring classes, vague assignment feedback, petty behavior, & very little help with public speaking (the whole point of the class). This professor is just unpleasant. If you have him, DROP!

Unhelpful, and frustrating. Content and style of speeches are his way or the highway. In class time was often wasteful, and more like going to a sermon as opposed to a lecture, sans proper discourse. Find another professor. More time was spent trying to sell the idea of being capable of teaching us instead of actually proving so. I could say more.

Professor Godwin is the toughest grader I have ever had HANDS DOWN. I have never failed a class in my life, and I am not sure if I will be able to pass this one. I reached out for help and he was very dismissive about it. I felt like I didn't need to attend class because he just rambled on about things other than the assignment. That was a mistake.

It is very hard to understand what he has to say during his lectures. I would not recommend taking an online speech class. Do not ignore the ratings as I did, Godwin is a very tough grader for no reason, he provides no instruction for assignments and will deduct a bunch of points for no reason. He cares about you but he's also very blunt and his lectures are redundant. You have to follow everything he says on rubrics to an absolute T for you to get a good grade. Worst teacher I have ever had. Does not give any clear instructions does not care about you only about his ego which is very big. Directions don't make sense looks like a toddler wrote them. Super lazy does not teach the class spends the first half usually talking about him self... Spare your self sometime and do not take this professor.

He gives out printed worksheets in class but nothing is published online. attendance isn't required but notes aren't online either. He has a habit of downplaying anyone elses difficulties or struggles by bringing up his race at every possible opportunity. This is important, but the way he exploits it is unnecesary and egotistical.

You can put 100% effort in the assignments but the grades you get will literally break your back and grades. I needed this class for credit and he was the only one available, but do yourself a favor and avoid any of his classes if you want PEACE. His background and ability to maintain a strictly learning focused environment in his classroom is good, but I believe the weight of his expectations for his students was to mostly to shy students detriment, and despite him claiming he cares to assist students outside his course, he wouldn't check emails and narrow office hours. I'm enrolled in a University second year taking full-time classes and a class here at ARCC for credit. I can confidently say this professor does the most and is an extremely harsh grader. Follow the rubric point for point and he will never give you full credit. Please take someone else, he will ruin your GPA.

Professor Godwin's class was a chore. His lectures were mostly him just rambling in circles and talking about himself. He was also terrible at giving feedback. Not a good professor. I told him that I misheard him and asked if he could repeat and he retorted sharply that he never mispeaks. Gave 0/10 on outline for writing “too much”. Made me cry after using condescending language on zoom when I asked for help on outline. Said I was cheating because I left the template that he gave on the outline. Gave horrible grade on my essay for no clear reason. Said my essay makes no sense and wouldn't listen to my explanation. He is so mean.

If you have work or a life outside of this class. Just be ready to put it aside. He says his office hours aren't mandatory, but he will boost your grade if you attend them, so it kinda sounds like they are if you want a decent grade in the class. He is a very tough grader. I see more people dropping out of this class than Calculus 2.

Class was fine until our informative presentations. He would constantly tell us to stay on schedule and complete tasks as assigned, but never gave feedback with enough time to fix what was wrong. His instructions seem clear but they are not at all, even when I followed the assignment outlines, I still got low scores. Don't recommend, made me cry.

Professor has huge ego. Tough to participate when he always shuts you down. Never enough time to review feedback for next speech since he takes months to grade them. His office hours suck. You will not get better than a c-b range even with great speeches. Don't take Godwin!! Take the other professor who does Public seeking.
