He was an excellent professor! He made every class interesting to attend and I learned more in this elective class than in my major courses. One paper assignment required and it was fun to write about myself. He realized that we had lives outside of school and taught us that way. Take him for anything he teaches!

Class is really easy and I got an A, but I don;t think I learned anything the whole year. All he does is give you questions sometimes answers to the midterm (which is a pretty much in class test) And on the final you get to have 8 notecards!! Take this for an easy A but dont expect to be challenged.

Whitman is funny. He's always cracking jokes. He gives you the topics on the midterm and final and sometimes the answers. He showed us the actual midterm and it was take-home. Allows 8 notecards for final. Not sure I've really learned anything though.

Take this class if ur looking for an easy grade, but not if you want to learn a ton. Only 2 grades - the midterm & final. Midterm was takehome & he gave us most of the answers. Final was partly takehome & he also gave us lots of answers. Very funny, but makes many jokes involving sexual subjects, so if ur not comfortable with that, don't take him.

Midterm and Final were both take home and every question is True or False. He will give you all the questions from both and 90% of the questions come straight from the chapter summaries.

Freakin FUNNY! Hello? He may be difficult to read for the young girls who asked a MILLION questions, but come in with an OPEN mind. Trust me, take this class! It is FUN and he gives great opportunity to COMPREHEND the subject matter rather than memorize. That's what college SHOULD BE! Awesome class.

AWESOME professor. There's only 2 tests a final and a paper and A LOT of extra credit. He gives you study guides for all the test and may show you parts or all of the actual test. He's very funny (in a corny way), and interesting, go to class with an open mind he can be unpredictable :-) I wish he taught all my classes. EASY A

The class is somewhat easy, he gives you a study guide before every test..and gives you a lot of the specific questions that will be on the test ahead of time, BUT you still have to take the time to look up the answers, which takes awhile. He gives you chances to gain extra credit, but it was a boring class. you take a lot of notes as well.

whitman is one of my favorite professors ever! he is hilarious awesome and nice. its not an easy class though. you have to work for your grade. he helps you as much as he can. all the tests except for one were open notes/book but you still have to study hard. if you take plenty of notes and do lots of extra credit, you should ace this class.

very cool and down to earth teacher. the class is overall easy as long as you do the reading that is assigned. half the test comes exactly from the book(multiple choice) and the other from class (t or f). there are 5 test. no quizes. conducts a very interesting and funny class.

Oh Whitman.. HILARIOUS. hands down funniest professor. Before tests, he hands out answers. Didnt really learn all too much in there, but only because he didnt completely require it.. He gave a lot of information and was willing to talk one on one if anything wasnt clear. BIG classes, but he will do his best to help when needed.

i will have to say, i didnt learn much to anything in this class but if you're just taking the class to get the credit, go for it because he basically gives you the answers to the take home tests right before he gives it out. hes hilarious and is always cracking jokes. and his TA, Robbie, is hot! pretty much an A grade class. i defiently recommend.

He is a cool professor he yells random stuff to make people laugh and keep you awake. He makes the class interesting and fun. You need to work with a partner and he is helpful on you finding a good partner. Group studying helps and most tests are take home. Great professor he wants everyone to pass his class. That is not a normal with most prof's.

He's a nut! But he's funny and he makes the class a lot less boring. He likes to make up his own words and put them on the test. Didn't really use the book and still got an A. As long as you go to every single class, you'll be good, he likes to give out test answers (straight off the test) in class.

He gives you practice test questions!! You see every question before you take the test. I was on Test 4 before I ever opened my book. His lectures are humorous and laid back. He gives you 5 days to take the online test and is very eager to answer questions. All around best teacher!!

Its really easy to get an A in this class if you just show up and take notes. you may not remember every answer to the test, but by the end you will know most of the final and won't have to study as hard to get an A on it and a A for the course (yes A on the final = A for the entire course.) But don't slack just because of that or you will fail.

I did not learn anything in this class and came out with a 98% average. 5 t/f test and no final if you have above a 93% average. he is a GREAT teacher

Prof. Whitman holds one's interest in his lectures by often demonstrating whatever he is lecturing on. His style may be a bit unorthodox but it helped me to remember the subject matter in each class. I learnt a lot and would highly recommending his class to anyone.

Its pretty hard to fail this class. All the tests are true false which are a little annoying because there are multiple sentences in his questions but its whatever you have 3 days to do it and can use anything. You don't have to go but going on the days he goes over the test does make the tests alot easier to find answers to.

If you need to boost your gpa and not majoring in psych, take it with him. Pretty much a guaranteed A if you attend most of the lectures (especially the week of the exams) since it's open notes and internet. However, if you're a serious psyc major, I'd suggest someone else since you won't learn much from him.

You have to take SONA "tests" that count towards "extra credit." There are 4-5 exams including the final. He really tries to help students get A's and that's what he wants you to get. The exams are hard but they're online so you can use the internet to help out, except for the final. Study the Q's from the previous exams and you'll pass the final.

He's the best psych teacher at ODU! This is a class you won't mind going to everyday, he's so funny. You'll have a t/f quiz every week ( he gives you the answers in class ), My psychlabs( do one every week so you won't get behind ) and 4 sona credits. EASY A trust me

The bulk of your grade are weekly tests which are two tests a week- one on his lecture and one on the textbook chapter. Sometimes he gives the answers straight off of his lecture test (so skipping class will effect your grade) and the chapter tests are straight from the textbook (use the ebook to search answers). EASY if you apply yourself.

Whitman always manages to make his lectures interesting with his antics which always made class a delight to go to. Attendance isn't counted, but this class is heavy on quizzes and lecture tests. Quizzes are easy, lecture tests are a bit harder but answers for it are usually given in class. Whitman also provides a good study guide for the final.

By far one of the best teachers I've ever had at ODU. He was hilarious and knew how to relate to the students, keep their attention, and loves participation. During lectures he gave hints and sometimes answers to the test if you showed up. It wasn't mandatory to be there but if you showed up, it was helpful. Advised all of us to not take the final!

He does tend to get off track at times, but everytime he went off track, I always gathered my thoughts and edited my notes. Took him in the Fall (2016). He is AMAZING! Lectures are long, but he makes them entertaining and worth listening to! I went to every class to take notes. But, you could pass just by coming on Fridays when he would give the answers for the weekly tests. Best to go to every lecture and listen though. It could help on the final, but it was an easy A.

Good professor overall. Attendance is taken for a grade in the end the attendance helps boost your grade. Show up to class on Friday he will review for the weekly test. He likes to joke a lot so be aware of the jokes. SONA participation is research participation that will help boost your grade also in the class. Easy & youll definitely pass!

He is a good professor! He keeps the course very interesting and he cracks a lot of jokes! This class was quite easy, make sure you show up for class he takes attendance but you never know when. He also goes over the weekly test on Friday

This is 1000% who you want for this class. He is a great lecturer and really wants all of his students to pass. One of the best I have had so far!

I love him! I would take this class over. He makes the lectures entertaining! He refers to the textbook (there's a pdf, so no need to buy one) but typically speaks from his own knowledge. As far as attendance, it does not harm you that bad if you miss days but show up so you don't miss notes. Also, Fridays are "quizzes" but he helps you! TAKE THIS

super easy class there are weekly tests but he will go over it every Friday and so you'll definitely get a 30/30, attendance is once a week on a index card but you don't know when, weird sense of humor might do some weird things, exams are super easy surely can pass with an A, also remember to do SONA studies either surveys or on campus experiment

This class was beyond easy I never read the textbook and attendance was not mandatory (unless you were failing then it counted) I barely showed up after the first few weeks and ended with an A. He gives the answers to the weekly tests in class and the midterm was take home. TAKE THIS CLASS

Professor Whitman has a witty sense of humor that makes his lectures easy to comprehend. Show up to class and do the stuff he recommends and you'll walk out with an A. The most challenging part of the course is the final, which is written by the psych department, but if you do the easy weekly assignments and do well on the midterm you'll be golden

Easiest class ive done. The class was asynchronous so no meetings at all. There was weekly quizzes and you get multiple attempts and get shown the answers after the first attempt. weekly discussion boards that dont really relate to psychology more so just your life. no tests just midterm and final. didnt learn a thing but got an A.
