there are only 3 tests given which decides your grade. He does not give study sheets, but his lectures are very fun. He is an exciting energetic professor.

Lectures were very fun and interesting. Kept me awake the whole time. I learned a lot about the subject! Only downfall is that the tests are not easy. Requires you to read all the chapters and memorize the notes with no study guide.

HE ROCKS! I LOVE this prof. He's so funny, seriously, most days I was laughing so hard I was crying. He's so hilarious and knows his stuff. His lectures usually were related to recent events so his lectures were always interesting, but most of the information on the tests came from the textbook, which he rarely covered much.

I had Abra for the upper division Social Reseach class and he was great.. He did give a lot of work but it was all very helpful and he was very clear and easy to understand... he is a great professor.

Gives a bias perception of the criminal justice system, but I think that just makes you think more.

He's one of the reasons I got a degree in Sociology. He has very interesting lectures that opened up my mind to new concepts about society. Great professor, if you can take a class from him I could guarntee he will open your eyes to new ideas even if it goes against what you believe.

His class is EXTREMELY intensive. he demands A WHOLE FREAKIN lot of his students, but he's passionate and he's one of the better professors i have had during my stay at long beach. If you're up for a tough challenge, take this class. you will learn more than if you took a nother prof's methods class. TOUGH CLASS. HARD DEADLINES!!

I took his criminology class...He expects for you to THINK! He also assigns a little book to read other than the textbook. There's a major term paper were you have to apply a theory to explain a criminal topic. Little writing assignments... grades tough, so be analytical! I got a B, oh well.

great prof. kept me i not the lectures and trust me i can get real bored real easily. Tests were challenging but not hard and barly any class work.

His lectures are very interesting and fun to listen to. I like every minute of his lectures and be prepared to trip out. His tests are little bit confusing but just study. the only thing that i didnt like is he does not give study guides out before tests but most questions come from lecture so pay attention.

My favorite class this semester. His lectures were awesome. He would use humor to teach rather than a simple review and over-head from the readings. As a result, I passed each and every test that was given. Caution- if you take this class, your brain mass will increase by approximately 1 inch!

Lectures are interesting and pertain to current events. Take good notes, and MUST read every long chapter to do well. Test can be challenging even if you're prepared. However, you will realize the disadvantanges of being either poor or middle class.

his class was very interesting, definitely one of my fav classes this semester. he gives 2 tests and final and a paper if u choose to do that. definitely read because his tests are mostly from the book. i heard he was really hard but all you have to do is pay attention and READ and you'll do fine

LOVED this class. he's a great guy that loves his job. his lectures are interesting and he keeps you laughing. my favorite course this semester. you should take notes, but don't have to go to EVERY lecture. you should read at least SOME of the book to get better than a C. practice tests at the end of the chapters are very helpful.

He is so funny and entertaining, keeps me awake every class, but you have to READ THE BOOK. THe last two tests' questions were almost all from the text book. the first test is easy. You can choose whether you want to take 3 tests the whole semester OR 2 test and a reseach paper, PICK ONE.

Hes a great professor! Hes hard but you will learn a lot in his class! He is very clear and his lectures are very entertaining. His exams are hard, but if you do the readings, you wont have any problems.

Methods was by far the hardest and most time consuming class I have ever taken but I learned the most. Abra really pushes you to learn.Emotions ranged from hating him and being so frustrated to loving him but i would take him again. My adivce is to choose a group you like and go to Abra's office hours as much as possible and ask questions.

Gordon, as most of the students call him, is a unique and charismatic professor. He really makes the subject matter entertaining, engaging and useful. I am very glad to have taken this class. Attendence is recommended, because he uses his lectures in his tests. READING the book is VITAL. Tests will come from both lectures and the book. :]

This teacher is really good. His lectures are entertaining and exciting. Her tests are a bit hard. If you want an A, you will have to study HARD on the book and the notes that you have taken done during lectures. This is not an easy A or B class, however, you will learn A LOT!

he's very hard but u dont get that impression from his lecture he gives out memo assignment that u can turn in early so that u can check to c if u r are doing what he expects. the paper is also hard but then again he allows u 2 turn it in early for comments. the final is easy if u have been going 2 class n taking good notes. u hav2 think 4 this cls

This is a hard class, but if you go to class every day and give him rough drafts of everything you will do well. I ended up with an A and I did not think I was going to get one. For the final make sure you know Reiman in and out and don't really worry about the main textbook. The final is mostly Reiman and lecture with an essay.

Awesome teacher. makes learnign fun. great jokes. Test is 50% lecture and 50% book. he is really easy to talk to, always there at the office. don't really need to go to the class with the book you can pass with a B or C. but yu need both if yu wanted n A. Its fun and there are great surprises along the way.

Good teacher, has good teaching skills except that his tests are hard. His tests are free response (7-8 chapters), no multiple choice at all plus an essay question. U will have to memorize a lot for his tests. The average scores for his tests were around 62%. So if u are hard on memorizing concepts think twice before taking this class.

HE is awesome, he is fun, and you actully understand what he says, he makes the class very interesting, but as fun as he may be he is also hard on his exams, the grade is based on exams only, and you don't even get that many, so go to class and read the book and you'll be fine, I would totally recomend him

gordo's lectures were very interesting! My cousin and i took the class and we always left with a different perspective. I personally recieved good grades by attending lectures and doing the readings. As long as you pay attention and read, you'll be able to pass the class.

If you want to actually learn and enjoy learning, I would definitely recommend his classes.

Gordon is a pretty chill prof. He gives you the option of taking 2 midterms or writing a paper then taking the final. YOU WILL NEED THE BOOK!! Imperative that you read, he lectures are acutely comparable to the readings but u need to know both. Overall GREAT FUNNNY AND SMART. YOu'll leave wondering about the world.

I think that the class is hard. Gordon is very funny and chill. However, you have to read the book and attend to lecture in order to get good grades!!! You have to be really good at taking notes as well. Half of the test is on lectures!! TAKE GOOD NOTES AND READ THE BOOK!

His lectures were very interesting...he used to be an actor so he has definite stage presence. The book is a definite must-read for tests, though. There's an option for 3 paper or 3 tests. I got a B. I would've failed the final but he didn't show up to give it to us. Which was awesome.

Professor Abra has been by far my favorite professor at UCSB! His lectures were entertaining and insightful, and as long as you pay attention and read it is easy to pass. He has a skewed grading scale, so an 84% and above is an A+. I cannot wait to take more classes with Abra!
