Guy is a good teacher he does his own thing which is group work for the most part along with easy HW such as reading / make comments or questions. His class is literally HW based for the most part as long as you read and do what little of you he asks you'll pass w/flying colors. Really great guy I'm going to def. try to get in more of his classes!

Dutter is a professor for history majors, which I am, homework every night, and group discussions every class, which gives the illusion you are learning by yourself but you are not, he gives a healthy amount of notes. I feel he knows his stuff and he finishes the semester out strong if you make it to then, we began with a big class. 20 at end

I needed a history course as a prerequisite and this was the only course which worked with my schedule. Easiest A I've ever received. As long as you show up and do your work, no reason you won't get an A. All exams are exact same format, open book, open note. He gives you the questions and answers for all the quizzes, just have to memorize them.

Most of this class consisted of reading the textbook and talking about it in groups with classmates, he rarely taught or gave us any real guidance. When he did lecture it wasn't engaging. When classes went online because of COVID, he gave us more work than we'd had in person and wasn't understanding or flexible with deadlines.

Love my man Gordon. Very chill. His lectures are short and get straight to the point. Not a difficult grader. As long as you do the assignments you will get a good grade in the class.

Dropping this class because he only uses text from the time period and no textbook or other material, which is totally fine, but it doesn't work for my learning style. It feels more like a literature class than a history class. Plus there are 4 papers assigned on top of extremely writing heavy homework. It's a lot when you have a full class load.

The most boring lectures I've ever sat through. Also we had to buy a lot of books because he didn't use a textbook, just "books from the period". Another review summed it up well, it felt more like a literary analysis class than a history class.

I loved this course, but it was extremely writing-intensive. The course was asynchronous, but it felt like if you took a day off you could easily get behind. You definitely need the 2 textbooks and you must listen to all of the lectures.

No real engagement, only time you see him is through pre-recorded lectures from another class. Work is easy but more is given than necessary. Work is read these twenty pages and then answer these twenty contextual questions that aren't straight forward. Had two books, one was well written as the other read like a legal document.

in a hybrid class, issues 4-5hrs of homework every class. (not including essays which are expected to be done subsequently). He does not give lectures, but instead has us re-watch online lectures that he made DURING COVID instead of in class. In class, we grade each others homework while he sits at his desk. Lazy and unknowledgeable.

Ok hear me out his lectures are extremly boring but all of his quizes are short and all the answers are given to you so if you memorize them you get a free 100. Also, his tests are all open book so honesly I would totally recomend him you just have to sit for over an hour painfully bored but great class for a free A. I want to take him again!

I was surprised at this class. It was a lot of work for sure, but Professor Dutter gave you time to do them. The class was lecture heavy, but all of his exams were open note, and he was not at all a tough grader. He is very lenient and definitely want you to succeed. Participation matters. Be present in his class and you will pass!
