I was a TA for this instructor. He does talk about things that seem irrelevant. He used stereotypes often, seemed very pessimistic, and gave assignments that I felt asked us to be stereotypical as well. He seems to be the kind with a strange ego of enjoying being difficult for students. A's in all my other classes but a grade in this course that only reflects busy work; not the energy, hours and studying I put in. Test/exam grades show I was understanding it well. This is not right, I learned/retained SO much more for his class than any other.

This class was primarily a lecture class. Since it was online I watched recorded lectures from his class. He does a great job of explaining and making things interesting. He can be a pretty funny guy too! Homework quizzes are time-consuming but as he always says: they definitely work.

I took this class online, but any sort of interaction I had with Dr. Hodge through email was fairly unpleasant. He was very snappy and rude. I watched all of the lectures online and it was a waste of time. He also was very rude to the students in his lecture hall. This class is a very easy A+, but the lectures do not relate to the exams whatsoever

Honestly I got very little from the actual lecture provided, almost all of my information was gathered doing the quizzes several times. He also exclusively referred to transgender people as "transsexual" and presented things as facts only to say they were "possible" a few minutes later, which was alarming in the serious context of the lecture

WARNING: Please do NOT take this professor. Each week consists of multiple chapters, with at least 3 quizzes you have to take 6 times to receive credit. The lectures are pointless. The online tests are monitored and everything is completely disorganized. Hodge ruined psychology for me and I hate the class with a passion. Do not take his course.

The entire class is busy work. To be specific it's 3 quizzes that MUST be taken 6 times a week, another learn smart (which is a laggy program) and a test that has to be proctored online. The lectures were a joke as he NEVER covered anything on the quizzes. This was actually more work for to a humanity credit than my 300 accounting class don't take

The worst class I have ever taken. There was so many quizzes to take (specifically, 3 quizzes that you had to take 6 times each for credit) plus his lectures were all longer than an hour and you had to do a participation report at the same time for credit. It's not hard it's just so much work. Say goodbye to your free time if you want a good grade

Had to take this class for credit and it takes up an unnecessary amount of time because you have to take 3 quizzes 6 times per chapter to get credit. The lecture videos are old and it is really hard to check what your grade is in this class. It is really hard to get into contact with him or his GA's and the information given is unhelpful.

Since I took online lectures I dont know the instructor but the class does require much effort. You need to take three quizzes per week and you need to take each quiz 6 times, theres weekly chapter tests and readings. Youre also recorded for each test. I thought Hodge's class was not that great. Too much busy work, often stops a whole lecture to call out kids (maybe multiple times too) and unapproachable. I often did not approach him because of how condescending he was. As long as you do your quizzes is really all he cares about.

I could not stand Prof Hodge. His class was aggravating, and he obviously did not care about the student. In intro psych, you have to take 3 quizzes, 6 or more times each, but a unit test, for every unit (there are 17). Hodge cares more about you memorizing the info for a test rather than you actually learning the material. Lectures do nothing.

This professor makes his class incredibly unnecessarily difficult. I hated this class with every ounce of my being. The class is based on test question memorization and not actual learning. DO NOT TAKE.

Gordon Hodge is a waste of space and he has absolutely no business teaching . There is not enough space in this forum for me to express how bad of a job this human being does at teaching psyc but I'll try. Dr. Hodge makes sexual references in lectures and participation reports and his lack of respect for his students is very evident. He is extremely condescending and singles students out during lectures which is uncomfortable for everyone involved. Also, the sheer amount of work required to pass is ridiculous for a 100 level course. Do. Not. Take.

I took psych as an online 8-week course, and if your taking it get ready. 3 tests a week, with 3 quizzes per test (quizzes used to study), and 1-3 (useless) lectures per test that you can't speed through. It takes a lot of motivation to keep up. The class uses proctorio and Connect, which didn't work all the time.
