Professor Vurusic is a very interesting person. He seems knowledgeable and experienced in his field. The only problem I had with his class was it seemed the first quarter of the semester was unplanned and very "from the hip." Maybe this was due to it being his first semester at this college or the fact he was out sick for a week or so...?
His class was very interesting, it was less about american government and more about world governments (which i enjoyed). great professor, its too bad he isn't teaching higher level classes.
PS110 has the potential to be a VERY dull class. Gordan's class is actually interesting. His class is less about learning the boring facts of political history, and more about learning to think about politics critically.
Hard to understand. Was not interesting at all. Online timed quizzes were hard for me because im not a good test taker. Im not a huge fan of gov. period and he made it even less interesting. Not a very helpful prof either called your out in class and even laughed at me one day for answering his question wrong. ended up dropping the class
Not a bad Professor just takes forever to grade papers and kind of unorganized.
Great Prof! He is interesting and he makes it very easy to get a good grade, but you also learn the subject.
He is very entertaining. There is a lot of class participation, but usually just to keep it interesting. The only drawback: it takes him forever to grade papers and assignments.
Great guy. Hard class for me. Had to write two seven page papers. Lots of essay questions on tests and midterms.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Which I could have taken him in a course that focused on Europe not American Government. Opens your eyes at why the United States is declining, told the class that if we do nothing, then we deserve it. This is what we need, people to challenge us and make us want to take action, not stare at Facebook.
Gordon is a spectacular professor! His in class discussions for Political Theory are stimulating and relevant to both our readings and modern issues. He clearly goes over the reading assignments and always welcomes students for discussion of papers and tests during his office hours. Before this class I didn't enjoy politics: he made it interesting!
Helpful professor, hard work to keep up with readings though.
Attendance:he doesn't take attendance, he said he didn't care if you come but you will definitely miss his random pop quizzes. He is interesting to listen to but not organized when it comes pertinent info in class. He goes off on so many bunny trails it is hard to keep up on what we are REALLY talking about. He was NOT CLEAR when it came to readings
I had him for survey of Am govt. He never took attendance. He told a lot of stories because he is from Croatia. He was a great teacher and the class was SUPER easy. He told you the exact answers to the essays before exam. All you had to do was take notes.
As an adult student returning to college after 13 years, this instructor was exactly what I wanted in a college level class. Great discussions. The coursework wasn't hard provided you pay attention and took notes. This guy *knows* political science. I'd love to take his other classes for the discussion alone.
Super smart guy who doesn't need any notes. He engages the class in thought-provoking discussions and grades fairly, very fairly!!! Overall I thought this class was easy yet I learned a lot! Awesome guy, hilarious too!
Best Prof I have had in 45 credits. Super smart and qualified. Focus on what matters and not what "should" be taught. I will be seeking out more of his classes even though I don't need more poli sci. THIS PROF RULES!!!!
Very funny and interesting guy. He made American Gov. interesting. Helpful, but took too long to grade papers. He does assign 2 5-7pg papers which are fairly easy, I don't like to write papers either! He is a fairly easy grader as well. Hardly takes attendance, uses the book a lot, and if using clikers, hardly uses them yet you need them to get pts.
Great Class. You need to read the Philosophers in order to understand the class but you can skate by if need be without reading, he reads selections from the texts in class to clarify hard to understand parts of the text. He is very intelligent. As long as you have a complete thought and support your argument he will give full credit.
This is a great class! I was lucky to take it during a presidential. The exams are essay mostly so a good amount of writing. The teacher comes off tough as far as grading but then grades very fair. I was expecting a B and got an A. He is funny even when he does not mean to be. Barely opened the book other than looking at the Constitution.
One of my favorite professors at GRCC! I have a high interest level in this subject, but he also makes it fun and interesting. A lot of discussion as well. You will walk out of his class with a great mass of knowledge.
Professor Vurusic is an overall good instructor, & you will enjoy his class. I took his honors course & was hoping to learn a bit more about US gov't than I did. It's great that he opens the class for discussions about current events, but it can stray too much from a US focus. His memos, essays & exams are not bad at all.
He is awesome. Really funny, grades super easy, and a very interesting class. I was never bored!
Great to have. Very intelligent and funny. Relaxed on turn in dates and assignments. Very flexible overall. Highly recommended.
His class was awesome. You learn a lot, and laugh a lot. He responds to emails rather fast. Attendance isn't mandatory. His assignments are hard, but if you take the time , put thought, and research into it then you shouldn't have a problem. If you miss an assignment, and you communicate with him he may let you make it up in the next assignment.
Very funny professor but lectures are very confusing due to him jumping all over the place. You don't use the textbook more than twice. Be sure to take good notes.
Mr. Vurusic is an awesome professor. He is funny and makes the work perfectly clear. His attendance policy is pretty open and its not hard to get a good grade in this class as long as you read the chapters and pay attention to the lectures, which isnt hard to do since he makes it interesting.
We had two 10-15 page papers due during the semester in addition to the midterm and final. other than that no homework or assignments beyond reading (I just skimmed the chapters). Was a little overwhelmed with the papers at first, but ended up getting great grades on both, I just wish he would have given more feedback. Take good lecture notes!
Don't let him got off topic too much or the entire class schedule will fall behind. He Sometimes spends too much valuable time on things not even imperative to the class. Honestly, I learned more from just reading chapters in the book.
-great and fun class discussions -participation is a must -few quizzes but 2 MAJOR RESEARCH PAPERS!!! -test require written answers, no multiple choice. -ask for help if needed he is willing to help but you must ask...
If you are not very good with understanding government/politics, then seriously THOROUGHLY read the whole entire chapter that you are on as well as quiz yourself and pay close attention in class. Besides that, he makes this subject better with his humor during the lecture and it's pretty cool having a foreign teacher too.
Taking just this class alone will make you an expert in American politics. Prof. Gordon is exceptionally great!
this teacher is great at what he does, he just needs to work with his classes to get them more participated. otherwise people start falling alseep
An amazing professor! Hilarious and makes politics and interesting topic. He does get off topic once in a while but is also very helpful. If you need him to explain something over again, ask and he will. Quizzes were easy, midterm was easy, and the final exam was easy. Take notes during lecture and you will pass.
Would not recommend for online class if your goal is to work ahead. At times posts are late; however, he does give you time to finish. Would not take another online course with this professor as he seems to be unprepared. I only cracked the textbook for tests.
Gordon Vurusic is a large, bald Croatian man. He has a slight accent, but I did not find it distracting. If you participate in class and listen to instructions, you should be okay. You may need to read the book as his lectures usually have little to do with the material. He usually gives the questions to the tests. 2 papers are 50% of your grade.
In PS110 you will have some quiz's, 2 5-7 research papers, midterm and a final exam. All his essay and research paper questions sound way more difficult then they actually are. If you do the work, listen, you should escape the class pretty well. Attendance isn't counted but if you listen in class it will help.
The syllabus clearly states that grades will be posted every 2 weeks, he doesn't do that at all- graded one thing the first month. Also, do not email him expecting a quick response, he either forgets to reply or it takes days. Will not take this professor again if I have the choice.
Knew a lot and taught well when he taught. He had students discuss anything in politics. These discussions were sometimes interesting but never new info for me and took 2/3 of class time. I'm a news junky and was raised by a lawyer/constitutional law nerd, so I never learned anything other than no one else Cared about 20year old cabinet secretaries
he only has four major grades in the class so if you do bad you're better off dropping the class. he is rude and hard to understand because he is from a foreign country.
I had him my 1st semester in college and I was scared to have him because of the comments on here but he is a very good professor. If you pay attention, you should be good! Only 2 major essays which at first seem hard but I ended up getting a 100% on both. Also about 4 quizzes (10 ?'s ), midterm, and final exam. You'll learn a lot in his class
I won't say I hated this class, but I'd rather not take it again. Most of the time Prof Vurusic's lectures were not straight forward, informational, but not straight forward. I had to sift through the information on my notes and decide what I actually thought I needed. If you read the book, youll pass.
Loved him. He is seriously so funny. He is very laid back, which is actually nice. You'll have a few quizzes, and two pretty significant research papers, a midterm and final. He makes you work for your grade, but in a good way, because you learn a lot from it (and not from the book).
Online class, pretty easy class. If you log on at least 3 times a week; do the discussion boards participations, quizzes, and a research paper you will do well. The only thing about this professor is his questions can be confusing to understand.
The two essays were very unclear! He's a funny guy, but not so great of a professor. The grading is really unclear, and he is a tough grader. The class was really pointless because you have to read the online book anyways to pass!
Gordon Vurusic is not a professor I would take again. His lack of organization makes it very difficult to understand what is expected. His tests are full of careless typos, and multiple definition repeats. He is rude when student come to him after class asking for help. He's very subjective with grading, so write what you think he wants to hear.
A lot of the quizzes you couldn;t find the answers in the textbook, which made it very difficult to do the quizzes. Open book was allowed.
I like that the weekly quizzes are multiple choice, however they are so filled with typos and grammar issues that it's very difficult to understand what he is asking. I also encountered questions where I chose the correct answer, but then had to email him because the quiz said I got the question wrong. He seems to not care much and is unorganized.
Pretty easy class with a lot of good information about American politics. I learned a lot.
Prof. Vurusic was a very relaxed professor. The class was full of new information that I was grateful to learn about in regards to American Politics. The quizzes are easy; he gives a few extra creditoptions, so I would take advantage of that. There are a couple research papers, but the criteria are straight forward. Would take this class again!
Professor Vurusic has a great ability to explain complex ideas in political theory in a way I could understand and apply to current politics. He is fun to talk to and easily relates to students. This was one the top three classes I have taken at CC.
Pretty straighforward class: two exams, two papers and few quizzes. He comments on paper drafts and helps a lot with exams by giving you a list of questions in advance. If you do reasonbale work, you'll be fine
Mr. Vurusic managed to make an online course very engaging. This class was the highlight of my semester.
One of the best classes I have ever taken. Professor Vurusic is extremely well informed about politics and is ready to explain difficult stuff. Take him if you need American Government class.
Gordan may be slow to return graded papers, but his knowledge of politics and ability to explain it to students is great. He is also fun to talk to outside class. Highly recommend!
I liked his class a lot. I took it on line and he made it very engaging. He also didnt try to sell any political agenda, which I appreciated. My favorite class last fall.
In this online PS 110 government class, you do have to write two 5-7 page papers. I found that to be the hardest for me. I hate government and he made this class bearable. This was my second time taking government, the first time I took it in the classroom. I have to say online is way better!
He's from Croatia, so he has a bit of an accent. He's very smart when it comes to American politics. He tries to make class interesting. Hes pretty generous with exams, as long as you study for them, you should pass. 2 papers you gotta write, again, as long as you put in the effort, you'll pass them with good scores.
2 tests, 1 major paper, couple homework assignments. Lectures are ehhh but he knows his politics. Overall hes a tough grader and hell make you work for the grade.
He made lectures interesting and engaging. Tests and quizzes are easy and not graded too hard. He really knew his material. If you pay attention, you'll pass
Really good and interesting professor!
I can tell he tries to make his lectures interesting, but he tends to rub people the wrong way. He tries to be funny sometimes but it ends up awkward. Hell call on anyone even if they arent paying attention. Too many quizzes.
Vurusic teaches Ethics with knowledge, passion and humor. He is easy to talk to and will blow your mind with great examples. Take him to learn some interesting moral philosophy.
I took an on-line class with him and it was very interesting. He gave us freedom to discuss politics without imposing his own views on us. He opened my eyes to many political issues I didn't know anything about before. Very good class.
He knows what he's talking about however, he makes comments meant to be funny, they tend to be more offensive. The class was difficult because there's no rubric for his papers so it's not clear what you're actually being graded on. We only had six grades in Blackboard, not much room for error.
Will go off topic or take to long on one thing. There was only six grades and he tends to be a fairly easy grader. As long as you study key terms of each chapter and have some understanding of each lecture he presents you should be fine.
He tends to go off topic and can talk for a long period about whatever he wants. However, it's clear he knows what he's talking about and you won't have to worry about him putting anything too difficult in his tests or quizzes. A textbook helps but won't be wholly necessary, just pay attention to the lectures and you'll be fine.
very lecture heavy . only a few things in the grade book and takes forever to grade .
A lot of writing, but great, thought-provoking lectures and discussions.
I took this class online and accelerated. The material Prof. Vurusic taught was minimal which was nice, but wasn't as engaging as I had hoped. He didn't seem to be really present, like in the discussion posts. I ended up feeling like I did not learn a whole lot which was opposite of what I expected from a HU class. Would not take him again.
I was doing really well in this class. I was getting 100 on my homework and doing well on the discussion boards. I thought I had a firm grasp on the material, but apparently I didn't. When the exam came, it was super up in the air and subjective material, so I got a 68 which ruined my grade. He did not have any kind of prep for the exam.
The professor posts a lot of different materials on line, as well as his own video lectures which enabled me to learn from different sources and from different perspectives. He is easily accessible through email and Zoom, so I really enjoyed the class.
Amazing! Loved him! I came out with 100% in this class just by doing all of the assignments and Turing them in on time, thats all you need to be successful!
Professor Vurusic was not present in his online intro to humanities course at all. One page essays are due EVERY week and then he takes forever to grade them as well. Would not take unless you're ready to read and write essays constantly!
I enjoyed discussing different topics in art and philosophy with other students. It opened my eyes about many things I didn't know before. Really interesting class.
At the beginning of my course, it was all going fine. For business ethics, a lot of the answers were subjective which is fine and a lot of discussing. However, for the final exam, the questions were so unclear and there was no study guide or review or anything. I nearly failed my exam, and got the worst grade I've gotten in a course.
I took this class online and he's not a difficult grader. If you do the work should be no problem; if your a Type A person- like turning things in on time and put some effort you'll be fine. He doesn't give much feedback but he's also not a tough grader either.
One of my favorite professors! Took PL201 online, and his lectures were interesting. Weekly discussion boards, occasional homework 1 pg papers, and about three 7-9 page papers a semester. Everyone who says his accent is heavy is just ignorant to other people that aren't from the US, he does a beautiful job at explaining concepts.
He was amazing! He is very fun and easygoing. Although, he does lectures with no presentation or anything. he will write on the board but not much. lots of listening! He makes ethics interesting and relates it to current/recent issues!
Prof. Vurusic is an awesome teacher. Pay attention in lectures, engage in them, take notes (any question asked on a test is answered via class discussion/lecture). Does not overload you with homework, two main term papers and a few essay style homework questions. He clearly wants you to succeed and gives you everything you need to do so.
He's not great. Doesn't answer emails, takes forever to grade, and doesn't give feedback when he grades. Lectures can be boring. Prior to exams he tells you exactly what terms and essay questions will be on it, which I guess is a good thing if you're just trying to get the credit, but he doesn't put much effort into his teaching at all.
Professor Vurusic is great in leading serious philosophical discussions. I learned a lot in his class.
His teaching style is unlike any other professor I have had. While I attended his classes, I thought that I wasn't understanding the content. Now that I am out, I have used so many things that I learned from that class. This professor is very laid back and comes across as harsh, but I think he just wants you to think for yourself.
This professor is unique because he doesn't use slides or the board really but just talks about business ethics and relates it to current issues to make the class interesting. He was very funny and through note-taking and listening to him talk I learned so much from this class. Def would take again.
Does not respond to emails at all nor check them at all took 6 days to reply to my email and it was not the only instance there has been multiple times he doesn't answer emails or questions about an assignment or major essays. he also offers to read major essays before turning it in, had sent him mine and received no response. overall very unhappy
I will always remember my intro to philosophy class. His courses aren't lectures, they are a breeding ground to learn through discussion. The papers you write about spark meaningful prompts, every question he asks ignites new thoughts, and if you apply yourself; you will learn how to think differently. Wonderful professor and very bright.
Mr. Vurusic is probably one of the funniest, most laid-back teachers I've ever had. While it's true he doesn't respond to emails, he's understanding when you need more time on an assignment or can't make it to class. Class is 100% talking and discussion. The assignments are quite easy and simple to do. I would absolutely recommend him for PL 201.
super nice, really easy class, not much homework. Funny lectures. super nice, really easy class, not much homework. Funny lectures super nice, really easy class, not much homework. Funny lectures super nice, really easy class, not much homework. Funny lectures super nice, really easy class, not much homework. Funny lectures
Our Class was great! You need the book for certain assignments. I would reccomend people to read along in the book to better understand the concepts too. His tests are not hard and there's two big papers that are layed out nicely so you understand what he wants. Class discussions are great and he wants everyone to pass!
