Dr Houston is a wonderful teacher. His lectures are funny and interesting. He tells you what is on the exam and is very generous in grading. He gives extra credit. Wonderful teacher!
Funny, watch alot of youtube clips, in class participation
My favorite teacher at Alabama. Take any class he teaches, positive learning experience and you can still make an A. Funny, entertaining, cares about students.
Dr. Houston is simply wonderful. His class was both fun and very informative. I think his style of teaching creates a very good learning environment. Take his class if you can. You'll learn a lot and be entertained.
One of the best teachers I've ever had! He makes you enjoy coming to class and provides real, relateable examples! Wonderful teacher!
Excellent class. Excellent teacher. He really tries to make the subject interesting even though it always isn't. He really cares about his students. He was the only professor that called me after the tornado to make sure I was alright.
Incredible Professor!!Amazing class!! Although the class itself is not, still love his class. I took his class a year ago, and he still remembers me yesterday!! How amazing is that
Funny huge BAMA fan. Will always make you laugh. Get's off topic easily. Sit on your laptop most of class. Study guides for test are all inclusive. Easy A
This class is super easy. Professor Houston is really funny and makes you want to come to class. Show up, take notes, make an A.
He is hilarious and keeps things interesting. Super nice guy, but the tests are intense. They are all short answer and drawing diagrams and around 10 pages long. It wasn't hard, but required a bit of studying.
Phenomenal professor. An effective communicator. Not only is he relatable, but his examples were always relevant and give a better understanding of the topic. I found the online homework to be very helpful. He is hilarious and has great enthusiasm. Being a huge football fan, I loved his examples using Bama. Roll Tide.
Best teacher I've ever had anywhere. Take his class any chance you get no matter what time it is offered.
Best Professor I had this semester! Makes every class fun and exciting and the tests are pretty straight forward. Take him for this class!! You won't regret it!
Great teacher! Keeps class interesting. He helpful gives test reviews, and tests are not too challenging. Take Houston if given the opportunity!
Best teacher I've had at UA so far. He is hilarious and keeps things interesting. I would recommend him to anybody that will be taking marketing classes. He only gives two tests so they are pretty lengthly and somewhat difficult but not too bad if you study. He gives out a lot of bonus points. Pretty easy class with a great teacher, take houston.
WONDERFUL! Dr. Houston is one of the best professors that I have had at Alabama. Take Dr. Houston if you have the option!!
Mr. Houston is a great teacher! He uses humor effectively and gets the class involved in a big lecture hall. Homework takes about 30 minutes each week and it is 45% of the grade! Attendance is 15% of the grade and the two tests are 40%. The tests require writing but he lets you know what will be on them if you attend class. Overall very easy
Gorman is fantastic. I can honestly say this is the only teacher that could ever make me think about switching my major to Marketing. He's hilarious and extremely helpful. Though there are only two exams, they are extremely long, detailed, and open-ended. Fortunately, they aren't the majority of your grade. Take him, he's the best!
Great. If you keep up with your homework (which is 40% of your grade) you'll get a good grade. "mandatory" attendance but if you get the big lecture you won't likely be called on. Interesting, quality guy
Absolutely amazing professor. Good instructor, he is absolutely hilarious, and his classes are actually fun to go to. Tests are really easy and he is generous with the bonus points (You can sometimes get partial credit for putting "Roll Tide" as an answer). If you have to take marketing, there is no other choice but Houston.
This class is incredibly lame. Dr. Houston was at least mildly entertaining, but his second and third exams were significantly harder than the first, and overall the class ended up requiring more energy than such a useless course should warrant.
He's the only person you should be taking for this class. He's a very entertaining and funny guy, coming to class never seemed like a hassle because I enjoyed coming. Grades pretty leniently, too.
Class isn't mandatory but you need to go because he calls on random people for attendance. So it just depends on your luck. Nevertheless, Dr Houston is the only teacher I recommend taking for MKT 300. Beware though, his test are harder than expected! Not too hard though, just requires studying. He is fair and lenient so if you need something, ask!
Great teacher and a good person. This is the guy to take without question.
Boring and silly material, GREAT teacher. Nice guy who will help you when in dire straits. First exam is a breeze, but it's some sort of fluke. The 2nd and Final exam are incredibly harder..don't blow off studying because of first exam results. Do homework! It's 40% of grade, is easy, and can give you a boost if you messed up last two exams.
Wonderful teacher! He is very clear on what is required. If you do not learn from him, it's your fault, not his.
Gorman Houston is insanely awesome. Definitely recommend.
LOVE THIS MAN!!!! so sweet, such a great teacher!! TAKE HIM!!! he is so helpful and such a great man-- something you do not see in teachers today!
BEST TEACHER AT THE UNIVERSITY. you must take this class. There is only a midterm and a final and your homework grades help you to keep an A. the tests arent EASY but they are not hard. you have to apply the stuff you have learned. TAKE HIM.
Probably the coolest teacher I have ever had. Incorporates lots of stories and applicable youtube videos into his lectures to keep a boring subject interesting. Very fair grading and if you go to class and do your homework you should have no problem making an A. But the tests are no joke.
Only class I really enjoyed this semester. Houston is super funny (not corny and annoying type). He made lectures interesting with videos. The homework is worth 40% of grade so do it. It takes a while to do but your grade will suffer if you ignore it. Tests are long and be ready for some short answer problems. The material is not hard though.
By far the most entertaining teacher I've had. His class was upbeat and interesting, and he is hilarious. Also, he's very nice, easy to work with, and a great teacher. Only has two tests, which are VERY long, but not bad at all if you put in the time. Definitely take him
Wonderful teacher!
Gorman is hilarious. His class isn't incredibly easy, but you do have to study for the exams. Great professor and man.
Great professor! Hilarious, relates to students, and loves to call on you! He takes attendance randomly. Study for tests - tests are just all about written instead of MC; there are in class quizzes. He takes forever grading tests (2-2 1/2 weeks) - only pet peeve. Online homework is easy, so you need textbook. Overall, awesome prof! Take him!
Avoid him at all costs. He is very funny, but he doesn't seem very serious in class; once you take an exam, it's so much harder than expected, and he doesn't really teach well.Doesn't offer much for EC.I would avoid him if possible. Also takes a couple of weeks to grade. Take Reynolds, who has a more simpler approach to this class than Houston.
Nice guy and entertaining for a marketing class. However, exams are not easy. The homework is easy though as well as the fact that 15% of the grade is basically attenence.
This class is really interesting. Dr. Houston is very funny and engaging. These is a lot of homework and attendance is mandatory but it helps to offset the tests, which are very difficult. Luckily the exams are worth only about 40% of the grade.
Great teacher and even better human being!!
I would recommend taking his class! He is so entertaining and really makes the class interesting. Don't be scared when the first test comes around, they are mostly fill in the blank but just study for them. In the end the tests really don't reflect your final grade- it's mostly attendance and homework that matter!
If you don't think Professor Houston is the nicest most hilarious man on the planet, you have no soul. He's awesome. His tests are difficult, but fair. There are only 3 so if you can manage to memorize some fill in the blanks 3 times in one semester you'll be golden because he ALWAYS goes over the test the day before so you know what to expect.
Dr. Houston is an awesome person but I would never take his class again. His exams are extremely difficult and he does not give any extra credit. I would not recommend him if your looking to get an A.
Awesome teacher
He is a fantastic person and teacher! His lectures were never a let down. For attendance, he calls a random name from the class roster to answer a question. If you are not there, you get an attendance strike. His tests are very difficult! They are half scantron and half fill-in-the-blank, listing, short answer, and drawing diagrams.
Don't take this class if you want a really easy grade, take this class if you want a really amazing understanding of Marketing. If you are a marketing major I highly recommend Dr. Houston, he is amazing at his job. He is really funny and super forgiving about sickness/missing class/tests.
Take Dr. Houston if you get the chance--he really prepares you to do well on the final four-hour exam! He's a very funny and enthusiastic professor who makes his students think critically. You earn participation points by going to class and contributing to lectures and case studies. There are two tests, and the remaining points come from BSG.
Dr. Houston is by far the best professor that I have had at UA. He is very outgoing and loves his job. Not only is he a great professional, but he loves the UA campus and its students and will do anything to defend it. GBA 490 is a tough course; however, Dr. Houston makes you understand the material and how it relates to real situations.
Houston was the best professor I had at Alabama. Great way to end the semester. Its a hard class.... cases, tests, a game and participation make up your grade, but its doable. He wants you to pass the class but he is not going to just give you the grade. You will learn a lot from him, and he keeps you awake and engaged.
Makes class seem only a few minutes long he is so interesting and engaging. You can tell he has passion for it. You can miss class but will hurt your participation grade. Test require studying no matter how well you pay attention but doable if you put as much into as he does.
Hands down one of the best professor on Campus. He only gives 2 tests instead of 3 like other GBA 490 professors. He goes back over the written cases if you have a low grade and gives tons of credit for just doing it unlike Strickland. His lectures are great and loves to teach, must show up to class and actually talk. Great guy
Without a doubt the best professor I have had at UA. Very enthusiastic teacher that always keep class interesting.
Great, great professor. Makes you enjoy coming to class. Super funny. Tests are essay and are kind of hard. Don't skip class, and you'll do fine.
Dr. Houston was the best professor to wrap up my year with. Great guy, hilarious, makes class a fun learning environment. He is very engaging and is there to help the students. GBA 490 is a tough class and I would have hated it if it wasnt for him. Take his section.
Tough class, but he's a great professor. My class had an extra harsh grader, but Houston scaled a little bit. Great way to end my undergraduate career. Class participation is required, but you will most likely want to come to class for his jokes. Case studies are not easy, but you should have it down before the final.
Dr. Houston is possibly the best professor at the university. GBA 490 is not an easy class, but he does everything possible to prepare you for the assignments. Having him is a great way to wrap up your college career! On the last day of class, I actually got a little emotional at the end. Take him if you can!
Great teacher. Wish I would have another class of his before my last semester. Holds his students to a high standard.
If you can, take Mr. Gorman. He is the best teacher that I've had. He really cares for his students and offers a Bible study on Sunday mornings and will buy you a Starbucks coffee. He is the best!!!
Hands down the best teacher I have ever had at UA. Definitely prepares you for the final 4-hour case. Honestly, I was a little sad on the last day of class. He taught more about life than the school subject. I would highly recommend him.
Great professor and prepares you well for the 4-hour exam. 2 written case studies & 2 open-book exams. He doesn't do multiple choice but others do so if that matters to you, don't take him. He has cards to call on people and if you don't know, it affects the entire class's participation for that day. He does curve if your individual class needs it.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Any negative things that can be said about him are the product of the course alone. The workload is heavy, but he makes it engaging for everyone in the class. It's also apparent that he cares about his students. Tests aren't bad, but cases are a lot of work (but he prepares you well for these).
MGT300 is a totally/ boring subject, but I went to all the lectures just because of how fun Dr. Houston makes it. He's hilarious and always has stuff to say about life. I plan on taking him again for GBA490 because I loved having him as a professor.
Dr. Houston is a wonderful man! He truly cares about what he's doing, and is more interested in giving you important life information than shoving textbook material. His class is not mandatory, but going to class will definitely benefit you. I would definitely take him again!
Dr. Houston is easily one of the best teachers I have ever had. He cares more than anyone and wants to see each of his students succeed. The workload is heavy for this class, but looking back I realize that I learned a lot about strategy and about life. Take the time to get to know Dr. Houston outside of class, you will not regret it!!! 11/10
Hilarious guy. Participation is important, but he makes going to class worth it. Expects everyone to one day become CEOs and treats us as if we will. His TA takes forever to grade things, but that's not really his fault. Papers are hard, but he wants you to succeed.
MR. Houston is a wonderful person and professor. Extra credit given and all tests and quizzes given online. Very understanding when I was sick as long as I had an excuse. Take him!
This class is kinda awful regardless, so you might as well pick the one thing that makes it bearable: Gorman. He's hilarious, and he really cares about his students, even however much the students care about their grades. If there was one class/one person in college that prepared for the real world, it was this class/Gorman.
Lots of work, but prepares you for he final case
MGT 300 is a pretty broad and basic class, so my experience could have been very bland if it wasn't for Dr. Houston. He somehow made this class entertaining, plus his real world examples and videos helped me see the importance of the content. He also provided several great lessons on life and personal finance in general. Super nice and cool guy.
We watched a lot of videos in class. The tests were all open-note and online. It was an interesting class and Dr. Houston is a great person.
The most adorable professor at UA
He is the best!!! Tests are online and open note. He's funny and makes class easy to go to.
Dr. Houston is amazing. I would take him for every class if I could. The class has hard tests but your final grade should be at least an A if you put any effort in the class. Take him!!!
Great professor, super personable and somewhat inspiring. However, the tests are way too tough for what this class is. You'll need to read a ton and really pay attention in class.
He was one of the best proffesors I've had, but for some reason the online tests were quite glitchy and I haven't had that issue in any other class. If possible, take his section.
Honestly the worst class I have had at the University. I have never had a professor waste my time as much as professor Houston. The class is very easy but is an absolute waste of time. Do not take this class unless you have too.
Gives unnecessary busy work that is worth a disproportionate amount of the class grade. Is unclear in what is expected of his students. Uses a dumb grading method that makes it look like you're failing in blackboard for nearly the entire semester even if you're turning everything in. I could keep going but this site limits the length of this part.
His class isnt hard, and he is an interesting guy. However, he is too unprofessional. His tests often ask questions about things we did not learn about in class. He is really arrogant, too. He also punished the whole class bc he found out some people were cheating.
Im preparing yall tht he is honestly the worst professor I have ever had! I am a senior this is my final semester and I have never dealt with someone like this. Doesn't email back, calls u out in class sporadically! BELIEVE ME! Take Joyce, less financials, less assignments, easier grader. Gorman laughs at us when he gives us bad grades
He is a terrible professor. Dont trust the good ratings of him. He starts grading at an 80 and you cannot make above that. He is not accessible outside of class If someone answers I dont know he gives no participation points to the class even though we all came. That is not fair! Take Joyce Meyers. I wish i had known to take her.
Professor Houston is very unclear as to his expectations out of you. He gives guidelines as to how he will grade you in class, but will grade a completely different way when it comes time. He is all over the place, and its difficult to understand what he actually expects/wants out of you. Gives out low grades compared to other GBA courses.
He's funny but also infuriating because he continuously says that "grades aren't important." Tests are easy if you pay attention in class. The BSG game sucks but you have to do it no matter who your instructor is. Case prep and written cases are time consuming, and he is a tough grader, but he makes sure students are well prepared for the 4hr case.
GBA 490 is hard no matter who you have, but he really prepared us for the 4 hour case because you have to do a case each week. The exams are only but they're hard. He has a stack of cards with our pics and names on them and randomly calls on people every class. I liked him though. He's fun and you genuinely learn a lot. He has high expectations.
After learning how he is I would take him again. I failed the first test and case, but I went to him during office hours and made As on the second test and case. His second test and case grades replace the first if you do better. The only way how you fail his class is if you never come to class and you never do the homework.
Nothing good about Houston, unclear grading criteria, unclear projections of student expectations, unclear about just about every thing. Lectures do not cover the material to reflect the way he grades. TONS of busy work. Political "jabs" every class. Just Horrible. Avoid at all COSTS! Teaching aside, he is not even a nice guy, very pretentious.
The course itself is not bad. However, Dr. Houston wastes the first part of class calling attendance and having students read irrelevant quotes. Also he is self-absorbed and frequently calls people out and makes political statements. When it comes to cases he is very unclear on what he expects. I would take Meyer instead!
Houston is a really nice guy and hes very understanding when it comes to student concerns. Content isnt necessarily so important on papers as much as formatting is, but it will help you when youre on the 4 hour case final. He certainly wont give out grades, but if you go to class, participate, and READ THE CASE RUBRIC, youll be fine.
Houston loves to come in everyday and cares about the students. Lots of busy work but it's SO easy. The weekly work you do is worth a significant part of your grade. Tests are taken from home online. Only thing is attendance is taken randomly or you are randomly called on so it's a gamble on whether or not you should skip class.
Lots of chances to get an A, gives lots of extra credit. Amazing lectures, so informative and entertaining but definitely have to study for the exams!
I've heard take Houston for GBA 490 because he prepares you for the cases, but it's a lot of work. I would have preferred another teacher where there was less work but I had to try harder outside of class to learn it on my own. Your options are Houston for busy work and real learning or another professor with less work and more independent learning
Gorman is a great professor and makes his lectures very enjoyable. He does take attendance everyday but if you just show up you'll be fine. He makes us do a lot of case work but you can pop those out really fast and will get a 5/5 every time and it helps prepare you for the final case. Great guy, definitely take him if you have the chance!
Never had a teacher who wasted my time as much as Houston in GBA 490. He routinely wastes the first 20+ minutes of class taking attendance and asking people how they're doing. He rambles and is occasionally funny. He doesn't make expectations clear. He inserts his own political bias. And you learn nothing. Not what college is supposed to be.
I have taken Houston for both MGT300 and now GBA490, and my taking of his MGT300 class highly influenced me to take his 490 class. He might be my favorite lecturer I have had at the university, is extremely friendly, and does his best to really prepare us for the final case. All 490 classes have a lot of work, but Houston's best prepares you.
Gorman Houston is the man. A lot of work but you will be the most prepared in the room for the final case. Truly cares about you and how you do in the class. Makes a miserable class not miserable. Good lectures that actually apply to life. Would recommend
He wants his students to pass. The course itself is difficult, but as long as you put in the work, you will pass. There are assignments due before every class and participation points for showing up to class.
Professor Houston makes his MGT 300 lectures interesting, but I dont like the way he calls on you for attendance. Hes a nice about it though! I also dont like how his tests are such a race for time and you have to use lockdown browser, yet you have 30 pages of typed notes to scramble though. Overall a nice guy but the setup could be better.
Takes a attendance for a tiny portion of the final grade. Packback is a chore but also a great platform for quality conversation. He's the man take the class.
Gorman is a very nice and funny guy and is a good lecturer. However, he assigns way too much homework for a class that isn't supposed to be hard at all. You have to read two books, complete a written response to an article before every class, and ask weekly questions on Packback. It's pretty easy to maneuver your way around the class, though.
He's an okay instructor and occasionally funny, but annoyingly wastes 25 mins of class calling roll and making people read quotes. I didn't get much out of the lectures; I would've rather had an online class. LOTS of homework, but you get good at speeding though it. Cases took me around 15hrs but I got all A's. Follow the rubric/guide EXACTLY!
Never in my four years at UA have I had a class where the professor didn't post the homework until the night before it was due when they could have given us the FIVE whole days we were due. And this happens about once a week when we have homework twice a week. This class is annoying.
I loved Dr. Houston and am actually taking him again right now for GBA 490. He is very funny and makes coming to class worth it, which is important as he randomly calls on people in the class each time. Packback is a chore, and missing it is the reason I didn't get an A+, but overall it is a very easy class and he is a very fun professor.
I absolutely LOVED Houston. He is always happy to be teaching his students and really wants everyone to succeed. The class is pretty busy but not hard. Class is mandatory and he calls on 5-10 students every class to answer questions but they're not super hard. He is so sweet and friendly I definitely recommend!!!!!!
YALL!!! I literally just made an account only to speak highly on the behalf of Dr. Houston. This is such an INCREDIBLE MAN!!! TAKE HIM!! I left the last class crying because of how genuine and inspirational he is. He cares SO SO much for his students and their well-being. I will never forget the lessons he has taught me! 100/100. Take him!
Was so on the fence about who to take for 490, and i am SO glad i took him! his lectures are long but entertaining, and the class is a TON of work, but that's the case no matter who you take. i learned a lot in this class and felt well prepared for the final and i literally didnt do the last 3 assignments and still made an A. take him!
Gorman Houston is my favorite professor yet at UA. He is so caring and he teaches so many lessons about life and the business world. There is a lot of course work but it is all super easy and basically participation credit. He really does his best to make sure that his class is meaningful. If you show up and participate, it's an easy A.
Great professor. I struggle with this class but Dr. Houston will help as much as he can to see you succeed. AMAZING professor.
Dr. Houston is an amazing professor. He always found a way to keep the class interesting no matter how boring the material. Amazing speaker. There's a lot of homework for this class but none of it is too difficult, just very time consuming. If you try your best you'll be fine. Class is only mandatory on days you review cases.
Overall, MGT300 is a very easy class. Make sure to watch the lectures and you'll be fine. Don't expect to email Houston and get an answer back in an appropriate amount of time though.
Class is stupid easy online. Lectures are informative and you can use the notes on the test. I suggest getting the e-book of the book you have to read so you can CTRL+F for stuff during the test. Doesn't respond to e-mails though.
Gorman Houston is arguably the greatest professor at the University. I have personally never really enjoyed going to class but Gorman kept it interesting. 10/10 experience taking this man for GBA 490 and easily my favorite teacher I had in my 5 years
Dr. Houston makes GBA 490 the best class in the UA business school. His priority is to give students the ability to think for themselves in a business setting. His lectures begin with thought-provoking quotes and students must be prepared to give insight at any given moment in a lecture. The workload is heavy but the knowledge gained is worth it.
Gorman is the coolest professor at the University and actually prepares you for the cases. He is an inspiration and made me actually want to go to class everyday because he's hilarious and entertaining. Take him!
Amazing man. One of the few profs who actually teach stuff that will help you in your business and personal life. I took it over the summer and its a time consuming class u spend several hours a day on the hw. Forget about having a summer job or other classes. I hated the strategy game which made no sense. Grading is done by the ta so ymmv.
An easy class, the material was so simple it could be boring at times. Work on the business plan project consistently, prepare well for the tests, and it should be an easy A.
Dr. Houston is one of the best professors I have had at UA. He is so funny and he is really understanding if you have to miss class. He always has music playing at the start of class. Go to class everyday so you don't lose points!!
Amazing Teacher
Exams are open note and taken online which is nice. Lectures are entertaining and easy to follow and he posts the slides after class. We did have a business plan GROUP project that lasted half the semester & sucked because instructions were vague and it was a group project with 4 other people. Overall, I liked him just hated that one class aspect.
Dr. Houston is really awesome, every single one of his lectures felt like a TedTalk. You definitely need the textbook for MGT 300, don't make the mistake I made and didn't get one. Tests are usually open note, and assignments are really easy! Even our group project that we did over a couple months was relatively easy.
Houston is a great guy. His tests are open notes so as long as you go to class and copy the powerpoint you will do fine. He is such a great lecturer that it doesn't even seem like you are in class. Attendance is not mandatory but he does call random names during class and if you are not there you lose 5 points. Definitely would take him again.
He draws names randomly to read quotes or answer questions throughout the lecture, so attend or you lose points from your overall grade. Read the books and write notes from PPTs and you'll do great on the exams! You actually learn a lot from the group project about business management rather than it being busy work. Great lecturer and friendly!
VERY great prof. Passionate about the class, clear lectures, exams are straight from lectures and exams are open notes. One group project thats a decent chunk of final grade. Calls random names in lecture, will count off participation if not present. Syllabus clearly states assignments/exams, very straight forward.
Very engaging in lectures, really wants all of his students to succeed. One of my favorite professors here.
Amazing guy who keeps the class interesting and truly enjoys teaching.
He's a nice guy he just makes the class 100x more serious and complicated than it needs to be. He doesn't answer emails. He has lecture quizzes for attendance on blackboard everyday and if you have technical/wifi issues he isn't forgiving. He's honestly really annoying but his tests are open note so it evens out.
Probably the worst professor I’ve ever taken here. Awful. So unprofessional. Horrible at responding to emails and when he does, he’s petty for no reason. Makes incredibly inappropriate “jokes” in class. I’ve considered reporting him because it’s just not ok. He thinks he’s all that but he really just f#!?!@ sucks
Entertaining lectures, but they're not super necessary for course material. He calls on students to answer questions during lecture but they're easy questions and he doesn't embarrass you if you don't know. If he pulls your name and you're not there you lose points for attendance. Assignments and exams are easy. Relatively understanding guy.
Houston was just a very odd man to me. His lectures are very heavy with information for the tests but he waste a lot of time trying to be funny. Attendance is mandatory you have a quiz for every lecture with a password that follows the powerpoint with the answers for attendance. Test are open notes and online. One group project, whole semester.
make sure you go to class!!! he gives you the answers to quizzes as he goes along in his lectures. he's engaging and i really like him. i will say don't take it if you don't like group projects because there's a business plan one that goes the entire semester
This course isn't fun no matter who you take, but I can say I really enjoyed Dr. Houston's lectures. He is funny and kind and makes course material more interesting. If you don't enjoy being called on to participate in class, I wouldn't recommend him. He's very nice and understanding, def sign up for Houston!
Dr. Houston is an absolute gem and UA should make sure he never leaves the college. He is super funny, very knowledgable of what he is talking about (Been in business before!), and just overall is a great guy. Although its a good amount of work, he grades easy and his exams are open note. Try your hardest to take him!
Professor Houston is a great guy. He jokes a lot, which is refreshing for a 9 AM. There are a lot of extra assignments but they don't take too long. Each lecture has a quiz along with it so attendance is required (you can skip a few classes though). Exams are open notes. There is a semester-long business project, so know people in the class.
Mandatory class, nakes a lot of jokes and people think he is funny. Im just not a morning person so i was halfway awake when i came to class, I would take him again but truthfully,, he is not that good with putting in grades
My favorite professor so far at UA! Makes lectures very entertaining. 100 extra credit points built into the class. Lots of small assignments each week, but he's not a tough grader. Group project that lasts the whole semester, but it's not too bad either. Open note tests. Come to class, do your work, and you'll be fine! Take his class!
He is one of my favorite professors. He makes class bearable and he makes the material very easy to understand.
Gorman Houston is one of the most engaging professors I've ever had. His lectures are entertaining, and his grading criteria is clear. GBA 490 is not difficult, but you have to put in the work. He "cold calls" which can be intimidating at first, but know the material and you'll be fine. Do not take another professor for GBA 490!
Awesome and down to earth professor. Hilarious and engaging lectures. He grades attendance by pulling cards with student names at random to fill in blanks on the slides and marking you absent if you're not there to answer. He does a good job taking off the pressure/anxiety that being called on usually causes.
