I love this teacher! She is a positive person and really nice to be around. She makes sure you understand what you need to understand and also gives you fun things to do to keep you interested. Her work is a little challenging, but not if you can keep up. The subject is very interesting when she teaches it, even if you're not interested at first.
Professor Austin is awesome! She is very helpful, easy to approach, and a very friendly person. She makes class interesting and fun at the same time. I would recommend taking her, you will learn a lot of interesting topics.

Too difficult for an intro course. She's wonderful person & seems genuine & interested in teaching. But dumps info on you from lecture & tells you to read the book without stressing what the main points are that she will be testing on.
Her study guides aren?t that great and seem to be from an earlier edition of the textbook that does not match up with the current version. She is not sympathetic to missed classes even for a good reason and sometimes gives sarcastic remarks to students pleas for help that I found dissappointing.
Her assignments have the worst/vague directions I have ever seen form a teacher, and though students have commented, she seems oblivious.
Great teacher. You can download her lectires from Blackboard so you can save writing time in class. Exams are multiple choice with a couple of essay questions, but she will narrow down the range ahead of time, then you can select 2 out of three to answer. There's also a paper, but not a prob if you start early on it. Good lecturer!
Professor Austin also teaches Human Development. If you are an A student, you won't be in this class. She covers way too much too quickly. The class avg. score was low. She gives only 10 pts. for homework assignments & 5 points for extra credit. So if you don't do well on the tests you're up a creek. She's nice, but drink coffee before class.
The lecture notes are on blackboard, and most of the test questions come directly from lecture. Gives extra credit. If you want to LEARN, this is the professor for you. Her knowledge of Psychology has breadth and depth, but as she says: "Don't waste my time, and I won't waste yours." If you don't plan on taking the class seriously, don't take her.
Doesn't like to answer questions. Bitter. However, provides notes, that's the only plus.
She's a stickler about rules and her syllabus. She won't answer any question that is on her syllabus or blackboard. If you answer something wrong she will humiliate you that your dumb but she asks for participation.
This teacher is honestly the most unreasonable professor I have ever had. I am a 4.0 student. Austin is in love with RULES. She does not make exceptions AT ALL even for emergency situations. Make sure you make it to every test day, even if you get into a car accident or she'll dock 15 points off of your total test grade.
shes very outspoken and extremely intelligent. i enjoy her teaching
I loved this teacher. she was awesome. she gives you her notes and during lectures you fill in the blanks. then study those and she even gives you how many questions for each chapter are in the test, plus the short answer (but studying is a must!). she gives clear examples and is really funny. I'd take her again if I needed a class she taught :]
AWSOME teacher! attendence is mandatory TRUST ME if you miss one day your screwed. her lectures are always based on the tests. just print out notes and fill in. tests are pretty easy. she gives out extra credit throughtout the semester and if you do that plus the easy homework you will pass =)
I love Psychology, but her class made the subject really boring. Some people like the handout/fill in the blank lectures...but it made every subject really dull and textbook like. Most of the time I felt like a third grader. My class barely got involved. Very boring. Study hard for the tests! I'm a straight A student and bombed the first one.
Fantastic professor. If you are willing to put in the time, this class is fairly easy. Fairly, because her tests are killer! She is one of 'those professors' who gives 50 multiple choice and if you study, two are blatantly wrong and two are very close to the answer. STUDY!-followed by two pages of essay. Other than that, she is awesome.
A relatively demanding teacher; Grades written work like an English teacher; Must keep up with reading (approx. one chapter per week); Assigns in class group activities; 55 ques. MC-exams, w/3 short answ. one written 3-page paper near end of semester; Twelve crucial 1 to 2-page HW assigns. No excitement, but highly interested students prob succeed.
Very light hw load, friends had different instructors for PSYC 300 and had WAY more hw. Exams are fairly easy, because of the fill-in-the-blank notes she provides. Austin doesn't allow texting in class, and will call you out, so use extreme caution! :| She also expects you to attend every single class. She looks like Elizabeth Smart too lol
Austin is a nice woman, and yes she gives the notes for yu to fill in but its not helpfull when it comes to testing none of the material in the notes are on the test and she words the question like scenarios. She could careless about any emergencies as long as you in class on test day. i honestly wouldnt recommend anyone i know to take her class
Although some comments on here are negative, She is a great teacher. She takes the time to know all of her students and I like to have that connection with my instructors. If you go to class and do your work you will have no problem what so ever. We are all adults..If you had problems in this class or got a bad grade 9x out of 10 you know why.
This professor is very easy...as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort to study the note...ie..test are directly from the notes...study that and you'll do just fine in her class. She knows her stuff and explain the subject very well. Grading is supper easy. 3 tests will be given in the semester. 15 open book quiz. Very easy...
Great Professor! She loves was she teachs and you can tell in her lectures. She provides the outline of her lectures for students (which is very helpful)! Exams are easy and she allows students to take in extra credit! If you show up and show her your trying you'll pass the class!I never read the book, studied off lecture notes...pass w/ a B!!
ughhhhhhhh. I would never suggest this teacher to anyone. All the notes were in an outline, but they weren't too helpful. Even though you take the notes in class, you still need to read every day. PSYCH is my major and if I hadn't taken previous classes I would've failed this class miserably.
Need book for online quizzes (5 pts each), class notes for exams. Buying the book is a waste of money because test material comes off her notes. Requires class group work which is not beneficial because you may end of w/people who don't work as hard& you all get the same grade on assignment!
She is actually easy. The quizes and exams are very basic too. I dont remember she has ever used trick questions. AND! She offers extra credits usually. If you have questions, she will ansewr you with a lot of patience, which is not very usual among the professors in general. I like her =)
Tests directly off class notes, attendance required, book for online quizzes- waste of $, you can just google answers, group work & HW required to pass, 25 pts extra credit. I agree group work should be worth less pts, brings your grade down. If you're lazy don't take her. Rarely studied & didn't buy book, still passed w/high B, not impossible.
The entire curriculum and schedule is laid out for you on D2L. Follow instructions, pay attention in class and skim over text = A
she teaches well. and the course is pretty easyy if you just follow along. She is strict on attendance and cellphone use. She can come off as kinda rude at times. .but other than that shes a good teacher.
GREAT INSTRUCTOR! she proposes a lot of class discussions that help you remember topics discussed during lecture or read in the text. if you read the book and go to every class this class will be a piece of cake. lots and lots of helpful info for personal and relationship growth!
She is a great & understanding professor. Certainly there for her students. Online quizzes based on textbook & exams are mostly lecture. Just attend class and you'll be fine (: take her!
i totally adore her. She made the class very easy to comprehend and she often gave examples that can be relatable to the topic being taught. I must teacher shes amazing. I will definitely take again
She's an ok teacher, but I found that if your struggling, she's absolutely no help. Her famous quote is "Your in college now, and this is how it is". My rating for her is two thumbs down.
one of the best teachers. i recommended her. her lectures are fun and also her activities. she really understands her students . I am a quiet and was 'kind of low self-esteem student' and not a really great writer, but she can make me feel like i can write.she respond great things about what i wrote in my papers, which makes me feel confident. ^^
Her class relied purely on Powerpoint and lecture. Her grading system is way too hard.
She is very passionate about her teaching. I highly recommended her if your thinking about taking FCS 324. She only teaches it in the fall semester. She is super easy if you study from the slide. She like using slide so if your like me who like professor who teaches this way take her. 3 exam and 1 essay. Got an A.. Easy class if you put in the time
Wonderful Teacher, very knowledgeable, if you read the book you will get a good grade! Lots of extra credit!
This professor is excellent. She cares a great deal about her student and explains the material clearly as well. She was always willing to help, and when I changed schools, she actually sent me an email the following semester to see how I was doing. THAT is how caring Mrs. Austin was/is. She is one of the best.
Greaaaaat teacher. Love her lectures, she makes it fun, interesting, solid material. Homework isnt super difficult, test you will need to study, as far as everything else its smooth sailing.
She is very punctual about everything. Lots of online work and many chances for extra credit (25 pts. worth). She is worth the hassle, you'll definitely learn the basics with extreme detail.
PROFESSOR AUSTIN IS AN AMAZING WOMAN! I've taken her for PSYCH 300, and her teaching style for any class you take with her is effective and interesting. She expects the best out of her students, and encourages class discussion. She is a great listener. Do her small assignments and extra credit. It will help you for tests! Read your book. Discussio
Professor Austin is an amazing teacher. She uses the book all semester so make sure you read all the chapters. She has online quizzes for every chapter so YOU MUST READ or you will fail all the quizzes. She has clear lectures and notes.Taking notes really helps out a lot when it comes to studying for the exams. She clearly explains everything.
her grading system is self explanatory. there are five hw and cw assignments. there is an online quiz for every ch in the book...so you will need to read the book. its mandatory to go to class, she'll drop you if you miss more than 3 times. offers extra credit opportunities. if you do the work and study, you'll definitely pass with an A
Professor Austin is one of the greatest. Attendence is mandatory, chapter tests(online), HW and CW assignments plus she gives chances for extra credit. VERY approachable and always willing to help. Attend study reviews if needed during midterms(THEY HELP). If you don't like putting in wrk, this is not the class for you. Wonderful teacher.
If you want an easy A, take this course. However, I found her extremely demeaning. All she knows is Psych textbook material. She can't make connections between other subjects. She is stingy and just plain weird about points. Overall, I felt like I was in middle school again. If you want more than just an easy A from your education, don't take her.
Hella easy class. All the hw is easy. The online quizzes are outta the book. Do all the EC just study for the exams and you got a easy A maybe a B if tests are too hard. I only did 1 hw assignmentand only 2 EC and still got a B. Easy A of a class if you do the work
Lectures are clear and she explains concepts well. She does tend to talk in a somewhat demeaning fashion, but that can be overlooked because there were some stupid people in my class. Her tests are fair and test on the concepts covered in lecture.
Exams are straightforward, lectures & study guides crystal clear, points easy to earn. One paper, noncumulative final. Ms. Austin is awesome. She didn't give a great first impression but ended up being a fantastic professor. Take her for 358: it's more relaxed and there's a better vibe. 358 is an insanely valuable class, I'm keeping the book!
she is a good teacher, good lectures, easy quizes online, one final paper, tests are hard you need to study or you'l fail, no cell phones, no late comers no talking or youl be put on the spot.
I passed this class with a B, and I actually never read the book I will look over it before the test! Her assigments are very easy in general her class is very easy! But I have to say I did not like her much she had favorites and she gets mad about cell phones like a high school teacher! She will call on you if you have it out!
I took her in Fall 2010, and it was my first Psych class ever. She explained the topics very well and is very approachable if you need extra help! The whole atmosphere of her class is comfortable, which I feel is great for the subject she is teaching. I'd recommend her to anyone!
This class was extremely easy for me. Take notes on the study guide she provides because you will need to know everything for the tests. She is very nice but a stickler about cell phones; so turn them off or she will call you out (And trust me, she catches you almost every time you are on your cell)! Do all the assignments and study and you'll pass
Awesome teacher. Makes lessons relatable and easy to understand. Gets the class involved in lectures. Just take good notes from the power points and do the study guides and you'll basically ace the exams. Barely opened my book only used it for the quizzes due day of exams.
Great professor!!!she is very helpful. Exams are not difficult if you take notes and do study guides. over all we had 3 exams,15 quizzes(online, each one 30 minutes, you can retake it for a better score only once),and one paper. It's easy to pass her class with "A"if u put some efforts.
She knows what she is talking about. Understanding of psychology, so don't even try to catch her off guard. Attend class. It is crucial you do so you can gain a better insight of what psychology is.
Loved this teacher! Go to class every day, theirs a reward at the end. We used the book very little, study from study guide and you'll be fine. Do extra credit, helps your grade a lot! Seems stricked and a lot of work, but its not. You also do random fun stuff!! Highly Recommend her!!
This class can be challenging at times. Be prepared to learn and remember lots of information. Attendance is highly recommended for this class if you want to pass with a C or better. I dreaded going to class sometimes.
I didnt see any for 2014 so let me be the first to say that im lucky to have had this Amazing professor. Shes awesome. I was intimidated at first but its my 1st sem. Prof. Austin is passionate about what she teaches, interesting, n funny lectures, if u. need assistance, shes helpful, dont miss class and BIG NO-NO is cellphones.
Professor Austin is one of the best and most interesting teacher. She drives a hard bargain but its in our best interest, she does expect u do your part n shell meet u half way, she gives u an excellent opportunity to make your grade, and you'll thank her for inspiration, 100% awesome,oh if or addicted to or cellphone don't even waste her time,
Professor Austin you rock! You're by far the best teacher I ever had in SCC, I apoligize for letting my phone become a distraction in class. Good strategy and I see the difference, I turned it into a positive learning experience, I thank for that. Im proud of myself for you did inspire me, and your hotness hsd nothing to do with it. ;) from the st
Professor Austin My grade for you is A+ You are an inspiration, you care about our progress. U hav a UNIQUE WAY of teaching, Ur lectures r not only FUN but real interesting, and It encourages us. U made learning fun and at the end we see that our hard work paid off SCC is lucky to have u! Again Many thks Professor Austin UR THE BEST
Wonderful Professor. She is straight and to the point in what she expects from her students. Study from the study guide that she provides and you'll be fine. Do not use your cell phone, she expects respect from you and she will give respect right back. It was a fun class and I highly recommend her. Goodluck, all will be fine and have fun.
Professor Austin is straight-forward and clear, and she's so delightful! I took her class while I was in high school, and even though it was a little challenging, I wouldn't say that this class is difficult. Just do the homework, keep up with the quizzes, and really get to know the material before an exam. Made my 1st college course a great one! :
Professor Austin is featured at what she does. Definitely an interesting course. You get extra credit opportunities and she really makes sure you understand it . You will need the text book. Learned a lot of interesting things in class. Definitely going to take another psychology class from her. Big thanks professor Austin.
Amazing professor! Syllabus is everything about the course. 15 chapters you will talk about, 15 quizzes that you are allowed to take over 4 times, not including syllabus quiz, pre and post quiz. 3 tests no cumulative final. 4 he assignments, 4 group activity assignments and 4 extra credit assignments. Learned a lot . Definitely an amazing class.
Great professor. Took her 8 week course. Went by pretty fast but she did a good job with teaching and staying on track. Only 3 tests, no papers, no pop quizzes. A lot of textbook reading fothe the online quizzes. LETS YOU USE A STUDY GUIDE ON THE TESTS! Definitely would love to take another class with her. She's also really nice
Professor Austin, I can't wait to see you next semester because you are the most interesting professor that I ever had and I learned so much from your lectures. I had you two semesters ago and I got lucky to get a last spot yay
Professor Austin, you are amazing--makes psychology so much fun, and is always there for you. I hope to take one of her classes in the future. She definitely makes you work for the grade, but this class was never boring at all. Group work and homework was always fun. Make sure to complete all the online quizzes, they will help you on the exam!
She made the class really enjoyable and fun. I left the class knowing more than I thought I would because she is really thorough with her lectures. Overall, she is one of the best professors who could introduce you to the study of psychology. Just be ready to pay attention in class, but you won't need to worry about that because its so hard not to!
Overall, a really great professor. Lectures were detailed and visually interactive, you could really tell that she puts lots of effort into her teaching. For tests, just make sure to do the study guides. I definitely learned a lot about psychology and I thoroughly enjoyed her class. Thank you Professor Austin.
Abnormal psychology with her is more of depression and stress and bipolar disorder instead of the super crazy things i thought we were going to talk about. Lectures a bit dull but powerpoints full of info you need to memorize. Tests are multiple choice and short essay questions where you need to put almost everything from the chapter. Very nice.
she can be cynical and nit picky. really needs all attention. relatiely easy class, notes are given to you. she avoids questions she doesnt want to answer.
She is a good teacher. She prepares you well for all the exams and she gives you all the information that is on the exams. Just do all your work and put effort into it and you will be fine.
Professor Austin is a nit picky and tough grader. Seems like she's trying to find a reason to dock a point. This is an online class and her quizzes were outdated from the latest version book, so I got some questions wrong. I had to keep emailing her to get my points back and prove from my book that her test is outdated. I always got points back.
This class isn't bad at all for an online class. You can get the pdf of the textbook so you don't have to buy it, & all the tests and quizzes are open note/book. All the papers & discussion posts are basically outlined by question, all you have to do is answer them in order. Professor Austin is good about sending reminders and seems pretty nice
You will get an A in her class as long as you read the chapters. Each week you will have to write a discussion board/reply to one classmate or write a small essay on a video she picks each week; followed by weekly quizzes of 20 questions (worth 20 pts) one midterm and one final, she also offers 40 pts of extra credit throughout the semester.
A tough grader but such a good teacher. Definitely would take her class again or another one taught by her.
Professor Austin is very clear, fair and thorough. Her class was engaging, informative and memorable.
Grace Austin is not a bad prof. but she is a tough grader. Just the slightest mistake will cost you some points, and it all adds up by the end of the semester. She is just very particular. She gives quizzes every week, a midterm(75 Qs), & a final(125 Qs). Her quizzes/tests by the way are NOT easy! There's also weekly discussion boards or homework.
Professor Austin is very knowledgeable, but her class can be a bit boring. Homework isn't too difficult, but the tests can be. Exams cover a lot of material and studying 3-5 hours for each is a must.
Grace Austin made this course somewhat challenging especially when it came to writing. She expected all discussion boards to be in APA format. Discussion boards had to be a typical 5 paragraph essay but could only be 500 words! This made it even more difficult with prompts she gave each week. It was so hard to cover all her questions in 500 words!
Papers every week with very specific requirements, must be in APA format, word count required. Grades pretty roughly, have to follow requirements to a T , no room for creativity. Quiz, 750 word paper, and discussion board reply every week. This class is only 3 units but takes more time out of my week than any other course. Not very inspiring.
I only took this class for a general req. It wasn't bad at all. There's a quiz and discussion board or homework each week. It's very straightforward and easy to pass. She also uses an online book which saves a ton of money. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone.
Professor Austin gives a lot of bookwork every class! She gives out lecture outline which helps a lot but sometime her lectures are hard to understand. You can't use your phone in class and you get in trouble if she sees it. She gets mad when someone is talking to their neighbor and calls you out in class. I really suffered in class glad its over!
Take attendance seriously, she often has in-class activities and you will miss points by not showing up. Assignments are not too difficult, but if you fall behind it can be hard to catch up. Exams are derived from lecture more than the book, and include essay portions relating to the material. Overall solid psyc professor.
Professor Austin was pretty amazing. Although the class was some what challenging, professor Austin was very organized, thorough, cares about teaching psychology and challenges your mind to think out of the box. Gives extra credit. I would definitely recommend her and thank her for what she has taught me, this class made me reconsider my major.
She was great throughout the semester just didnt care for her grading criteria at the end. I had a 85% grade average, took the last exam and scored 95 but missed the last day of class AFTER the final had already been completed and finished with a 82% doesnt make sense to me I think that shouldve been treated as extra credit not mandatory
Easy online A Read a ch, watch video, write a short essay discussion post. Reply to other posts. Simple and always the same. Be ready to use a higher word count than she suggests. It's okay. Just don't use less. Tests are open book, and questions are straightforward. Some assignments can be a little confusing, but she responds quickly to questions.
The class itself isn't very difficult, it's Professor Austin's attitude that makes it unbearable. She talks to students like they're children and has a superiority complex. She will call people out for the smallest things and want you to speak to her after class. She teaches the class like it's high school and will complain of you use the bathroom
She is flexible and answer your questions quickly even weekend. Her lectures are not so bad if you are a serious learner. I learned a lot from her class. I like her and I have a choice, i will pick her classes again in the future.
She is a great professor, she is very knowledgeable and passionate and it shows during her lectures which makes the class so much better. She is tough though and you do have to work in her class if a lot of reading, wrIting and studying is too much for you then do not take her. As long as you try really hard in her class she will help you pass.
i dont agree that her class was hard yes her lectures are boring but she is a very wise person she can be a little sassy i suggest that u study everyday a bit and not wait for the last minute i passed with a B
Prof. Grace is literally THE BEST professor I had this semester. She's very good at replying. Her lectures could be boring if you're not there for the right reasons (to do well) but I truly enjoyed a lot of her lectures. Four tests/exams, and some homework. Take advantage of the extra credit opps. and STUDY well and you'll pass her class as well
shes a good professor. if i wouldve actually put in work i wouldve got a better grade. the textbook youll need for this class is free & you have to read it she gives out extra credit . study notes youll pass there was like 4 test 3 homework 3 group projects i believe n quizzes
She was a little intimidating at first but once I got to know her I found that she was really sweet and cared a lot about her students. There are group projects and a lot of short writing assignments and the exams and movie analysis are worth a lot of points. The tests are lecture-heavy and the quizzes for each chapter are only on the textbook.
Professor Austin is to the point, by the books, but super caring. Take notes, and DO THE TEXTBOOK READING OUTLINES. They're basically the exams.
one of the sweetest teachers. I took her psychology class last semester and halfway through the year we were quarantined but she made the transition so easy. she would record her lectures and offer us tons of extra credit assignments
I took her gerontology 302/psych 374 with her, fully online because of quarantine. She is SO sweet and gives the best feedback, you always know why you got the grade you got and how to improve for next time.
She's such a nice person and very knowledgeable of her field. Her lectures are often boring though. It's just her trying to cover 1 chapter in two hours. Tons of talking and at the end you just need the study guides to pass the exam. Weekly interesting reflection exercises. Easy A if you do the assignments. Also, she's very organized, I like that.
POSSIBLE RETALIATION FOR CHALLENGING GRADES. I noticed that when I started to question my essay grades I began to lose 1-3 points on future assignments for grammar errors. All my assignments went through Grammarly and pro writing aid. GRADES ESSAYS LIKE AN ENGLISH PROFESSOR. DO ALL TEXTBOOK READING OUTLINES!!!
Professor Austin is extremely consistent and organized, which made this course very easy to schedule around. Provides chapter outlines which are basically the exam/quiz answers. Exams/quizzes are open book/open notes. You DO need to read the textbook, which can take some time. Short discussion or short homework essay weekly.
This professor is consistent and organized, which made this course very easy to schedule around. Exams and quizzes are open book/note, however you DO need to read the textbook and complete the provided note outlines, which can take a lot of time.
Take her! She drops 2 of your lowest scored assignments AND quizzes (4drops total) She gives extra credit opportunities on EVERY discussion board. Discussion board/homework assignment and a quiz every week. 2 exams. She's a fairly easy grader. If you don't pass it's cause you didnt even try. She makes this class easy and fun. I highly recommend her
As a mom of two, Professor Austin made my first time college experience super smooth and easy to follow. She truly does her absolute best to provide feedback and guidance every step of the way, so do the chapter reading outlines and the homework and discussion board posts and there is literally NO way to fail.
Professor Austin is great! A discussion board post and quiz every week and lets you use the free online textbook on quizzes. Also gives extra credit opportunities, so Id recommend taking her for Psychology!
Prof. Austin is amazing. What an introduction to the world of Psychology! She's very accessible, easygoing, accessible, and is great about giving materials to help you along. Tests are based off lecture notes, and there are many weekly reading or video assignments. She's big on participation, if you stay active, you will do just fine.
Professor Austin provided a wonderful introduction to Psychology. She is very organized and clear about expectations. She selects interesting videos that you'll complete assignments on, and encourages students to relate the topics learned to their personal lives. No book is used; She shares each chapter's lecture notes fill-in-the-blank style.
Grace Austin Refused to allow me the rights the Disabilities Office said I Need! Pretty sure thats against the law. She told me Ive missed every class, when, in fact, Ive never missed a single class. When she asked me a question on zoom, I didnt know the answer, so she embarrassed me in class. How could I have missed all classes then?
I loved Professor Austin! If you're the type of student that needs structure in your classes then she is definitely for you. She sticks to a clear schedule of assignments and is very transparent on what she expects. She provides a fill-in-the-blank lecture notes for every single lecture. She is very caring and will work with you.
Asynchronous - Very straightforward. Read one chapter + quiz + discussion/hw assignment a week. Quizzes/tests are open textbook. Offers reading outline which I highly recommend filling out as you read. Offers extra credit. Drops 2 lowest quizzes and 2 lowest discussions/hw assignments from final grade. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed PSYC 300 with Professor Austin. The work schedule was consistent and predictable, so I never had to guess when work was due, and she always had clear guidelines for the homework and discussion boards. She is a fair grader too. I would highly recommend.
She is very clear in her testing and grading. She is not a "trick question" giver. Open book tests are clear and straight forward if you review her study guides and powerpoint presentations. Assignments are fairly graded. Will not take late work but gives one make-up. I've had teachers I clicked with more, but with Austin you know what to expect.
Professor Austin is a bit wacky but makes her lectures really fun. Her tests are so easy if you know the material and she gives guided notes. She gives clear feedback and guidelines and responded hyper fast to my emails. If you are on your phone during classes DONT take its her pet peeve. She's opinionated but cares a lot about her subject.
Professor Austin is very straight forward with her expectation in her class. Attendance matters but is willing to accommodate when necessary. Her lecture is clear and easy to understand. Taking notes in her class is easy and a reasonable grader. She is also very funny and relatable.
10/10 would take her class again. Love her lectures and she's very clear when communicating but I only had one misunderstanding but that's because I am poor at explaining. The hardest part of her class was dealing with other people. There is only 3 group assignments that are super easy if at least one person paid attention.
What an amazing professor. She's extremely knowledgeable, along with having her class properly structured. Her grading may be difficult regarding written assignments, but it's pretty easy to pass this class if you study and pay attention. This class is exam based as there is no end of semester final. I would take her again and again.
Tests are based on lecture notes she gives you to fill out (MadLibs style). Lecture heavy, but filled out lecture notes are on Canvas. If you learn better in person, do not skip class, it is hard to fully understand with only lecture notes. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE IN CLASS. She will take away the cheat sheet notecard during tests if you do. LITTLE EC
Went into this class without knowing the professor but I'm glad I took her class. She's majority lecture based which means attendance in class is critical as audio recordings don't go over the information in the same depth as in person. Doesn't tolerate devices in class and will take away notecard privileges if seen. I would take her class again!
Prof. Austin is a well-organized instructor who provides clear expectations and helpful resources like lecture notes. The class is manageable with weekly assignments, and Unstuckstudy can be a valuable study tool. Recommended for a structured psychology intro.
You can only use textbook that is selected by proff, you cannot use other book or internet to learn extra. Always needs to show up for attendance that I know is mandatory. Otherwise is ok. Takes time to reply back. Always gives feedback but mostly strict on grades. Need to prepare only that is written in the textbook selected otherwise zero grades.
Lectures were fine, but she was overall passive-aggressive towards some of the students. As someone with a physical disability, it can be hard for me to get to class some days. When I told her this, she said "if you can't come to class every day, maybe you shouldn't have taken any in-person classes to begin with." Very passive-aggressive.
she made me wanna switch my major to psychology because how of captivating and thought-provoking her lectures are. attendance is CRUCIAL. lecture notes are fill in the blanks. super clear expectations and super organized professor. exams aren't tricky questions ever, as long as you're studying and paying attention, you got this! would take again!!
LECTURE HEAVY! Although, the professor only assigns few hw assignments that are fairly easy. Provides lots of support on canvas to help study for exams. PREPARE FOR EXAMS USING HER STUDY GUIDES! They are very helpful. Don't talk during her class or use your phone, you may get your exam notecard taken away. Lots of extra credit!
Very passive and her patience is low she provides a note card which is helpful. Class can be heavy
Loved her and how organized she is. Sad she's retiring after this fall semester. Not a psych major or want to take psych again (too hard) but I would (if she weren't leaving) just to have her class again.
