Great teacher. She's also very encouraging and helpful. If you're lazy don't take her. She expects the best from you and grades according to your style, but you must show improvement. She's clear on what she expects on each paper. HINT: READ BOOK & ASK FOR HELP AND YOU'LL DO FINE!!

Mrs. Horne is a wonderful lady. She is very interesting to listen to in class. Though, she assigns a lot of writing assignments and grades tougher than most teachers, she is very willing to help you improve your writing. She is very soft spoken yet she will tell you what needs to be fixed.

Mrs. Horne is extremely helpful. She likes to work one on one with her students with their papers and asks you to come to her office often. Take your papers to her office and she will carefully look over them and give you feedback and it tends to reflect positively on your grade. Strick Attendance

Grace Horn is an intellectually stimulating professor. She is hard and may have her favorites at times, but is a good teacher to have for English 1100 to establish the basics. Take her if you want to learn.

Very nice woman, but a hard grader. There are 4 major papers and a few pop quizzes which are pretty tough. If you're good at writing, take her. If not, find an easier professor!

Class is really not that hard. Just 4 writing assignments and if you LISTEN to her and see her for help before the paper is due, you're guaranteed a B or higher if you listen and come to class. Def recommend her if you want to become a better writer.

She is an excellent professor. She understands that people write differently but will help you when you ask. Go to her office and talk to her about your papers before they are due and she will tell you all you need to fix! Oh, and it doesn't matter if you can write good or not when you start class, because you will be at the end.

I adore her! She makes me want to write better. Very helpful. We had to write 5 papers, including final. The essay topics were more difficult than other 1100's, but will help if having problems. Attendence is a must. Hardly used books. Very sweet. I'm taking her 1200 class.

Honestly, I think she has an attitude where she thinks she is better than everyone else. But if you get on her good side she will basically re-write every paper for you so that you can get a good grade on it. Go to class, smile and nod, write your BOOORING papers and just get it over with. She isn't so bad... but the papers suck.

It's true that she grades hard and expects a lot of you and has her favorites. However, her favorites consist of people who actually come to class and work and try on the assignments. It's not that hard to get on her good side. She's always helpful and you learn a lot from her. Don't take her class if you want an easy A.

I took Grace Hornes Engl 1100, 1200, and 2000. She is so helpful if you show her that you want to do well. If you want to get a good grade she will help you make that happen. I also think she knows what she is talking about and is very clear about what she wants done. She has been my favorite professor at ECU.

VERY HARD! she can be nice but she has her off days. topics for papers are so hard!she will help you, but sometimes she is so caught up on her ideas, she wants it her way. so everything you write is wrong. hard grader! would recommend finding another professor if this is your freshmen engligh!!

i'm currently taking her for 1200 and i can honestly say i have never had a professor to put so much time and effort into helping her students. it's plain to see this is her passion and she goes out of her way to help you in any way possible AS LONG AS YOU ASK! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Favorite teacher ever. I have taken her for ENGL1200 and ENGL1000 and next semester I am taking her for ENGL2000. She is always willing to help you and is so nice! I would highly recommend her. She has absolutely MADE my experience at ECU.

She is very helpful outside of class but not always very clear in class. You will have to make an effort and she will give her all as well. Very passionate.

Mrs. Horne is GREAT! I took her for both English 1100 and English 1200 because I love her so much. She really cares about her students and if you care about your grade and make it obvious, she will do her best to get you to where you need to be. Definitely recommend taking her, I wish she taught more courses in my major.

She is a nice person and her class is fun but sometimes your not clear on what she wants from you and grading can be difficult. I can say ive learned way more in her class than i have in any other english class. She doesnt give that many assignments over all pretty easy.

She is a very tough teacher and she makes that clear from the start. Her assignments are not hard once you understand them but sometimes she doesn't explain things well. I suggest getting to know her. I would always go to her office and ask her to explain things to me again and she was more than willing and it really helped. I really learned a lot.

Very strict but easy to get along with! Loves what she does and she is more than willing to help if you show effort. Can miss up to 3 classes without it hurting you, takes attendance every day. Very difficult to get an A. Loved her class.

Prof. Horne is as fair an instructor as anyone could expect. She genuinely cared about our class and always, always, always is willing to help any student who tries their best. Bottom line, if you see complaints, it's always the losers who cry about the referee.

One of my favorite professors so far, and I hate English. As long as you go to class, listen to what she has to say, and do your work you will be fine. Read the syllabus and don't be afraid to ask questions, she is always willing to help. Fair grader and sometimes brings treats!

By far my favorite teacher at ECU! She always makes class enjoyable, I was never an english person and I recieved an A in this class. She offers corrections on one paper per semester, which is very reasonable. We almost always ended class early, and she always gives time in class to work on assignments! She's very proper but cusses a lot!

Prof. Horne is strict, but she's always there to help. Ask her questions during class and go during her office hours to talk about your papers (she likes that). She is a harsh grader, but she gives you what you deserve, so always do your best in the class. Also, she allows 2 revisions in the class on 4 of the projects that you do. Go to class.

I loved taking this class with Mrs. Horne!! She does not make it easy to get a good grade, but she is there to help you along every step of every project. Mrs. Horne was great. Yes, you will write a lot of papers, but it was a Writing Intensive English Class so that should be expected. Her guidelines can be confusing but then if you ask questions she will clarify. ou can email our paper to her and she will edit it and send it back so ou can change it before turning it in. She cares.

You will eventually warm up to Ms. Horne. At first she seems very rude and to the point, but eventually you see that it is a part of her teaching style. She is very blunt but she is very helpful when you ask questions. If you are attentive and follow the criteria for her paper, you will do well in her class! Don't skip her class!

This is the first class to ever actually improve my writing. If you follow her directions you will get a good grade. She will go out of her way to help you if you show that you care. Professor Horne actually helped me become a better writer, which is something I have always struggled with. She responded very quickly to any questions I had and helped me out so much. You do have to actually work in her class and be on top of things, but I really enjoyed the class!

Horne is actually a very good professor. We had to do discussion posts and had 4 projects. We would always have to submit a draft before submitting the final and she would always take her time to read everyones papers and tell them what they did wrong and exactly how to fix it . She wasn't a harsh grader at all and actually helped me so much!!

she was great only gave 5 assignment including the final & very easy all of the topics are based on food & she made us buy a book which was helpful & you can use it in other classes too(seagul dont buy other one)we turn in RD and give great feedback that made our paper better shes strict about attendance and takes points off for every class missed

She is very strict when it comes to grading, she will take points off for absolutely anything. She has grades disabled so you cannot see your total grade in the class which is frustrating. The only good things I can say is that she provides good feedback on papers, but expects above and beyond work. She expects you to be a professional and perfect.

I took "Writing for Business Industry" with Professor Horne. Her expectations were clear, and the assignments were valuable. She gives detailed feedback. I left that class with a better understanding of written business communication. The hardest part for me was the proposal, but I felt good about it once I finished. She is approachable too!

At first I thought she was a really tough grader and thought I would have to drop the course, but her feedback is so well written she genuinely reads your entire report and has helped me be a better writer. Be prepared for some constructive criticism, but she is incredibly sweet and cares for her students and laughs with us.

Attendance was mandatory but not graded. She is an understanding professor and offers a lot of help on assignments to make you a better writer. Some days she will add some small random assignments due during the class time. She often goes around to each student to see how they are doing on assignments and their progress.

She will explain each essay in depth and even goes above and beyond to get you the information you need to write the essay, if you are still confused after ask questions.

I had professor Horne for 2 semesters now. I took her class again bc she's genuinely a very good teacher. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She assigns a good amount of writing projects, but it's easy to write the actual paper thanks to the prep work. As long as you show up to class and do your work well, you'll do good.
