Lots of In-class assignments that can not be made up. Quizzes online every sunday, which is the only time you will need the textbook. Lectures can be a bit long, but interesting. She creates special notes that you can print that make notetaking a breeze, and prevent you from missing information. I would recommend a personal printer for this class.
She makes note taking very easy & her examples really helps you understand the topics. She is very opened with questions & really does her best in answering clearly. You DO need to study the notes she put in the PowerPoint and sometimes what she put on the board because there will be a few trick questions on the exams.
Major strict on attendance and no make up work is allowed. DO NOT HAVE A EMERGENCY! Make up only under extenuating circumstances, such as a death of IMMEDIATE family or bedridden illness . If you qualify under these horrible circumstances, you have 1 week to make up on own time the exam. I had a emergency, do not expect any compassion or help.
She's honestly super great. Lectures are a little long and you need to retain a lot of information.. it's a lot of work for a 100 level course but totally worth it. She's super willing to sit down with you and help you to understand a concept. Make flashcards for the exams!! They do a world of good!
Overall a good instructor has some nice in class examples and activities. Tests are pretty straightforward as long as you do the reading. The study guide she gives for exams is extremely helpful and if she gives you the option for extra credit TAKE IT. Not the most friendly but she does a good job going over the material.
I had Grace as an instructor for PSYC100 and was waiting for her to teach PSYC200. I discovered many students in the class had her for PSYC100 as well bc we love her teaching style. She's super organized and is clear. It was more work than I expected but I learned a ton.
I've taken her psyc100 class & loved her teaching style and unlike some instructors, she's updates your grades quickly. The tests were more difficult so be prepared to have lots of stacks of flashcards because she can be very detailed on the tests. I recommend reviewing parts of psyc100 because some of them are on the tests as well.
The exam study guides were helpful. I would've liked one for each chapter. However, her in-class assignments were tediousworthless for me. Watch out as she is a very harsh grader! She is a bit unclear as she said at the start of class wouldn't make it through the whole book but then proceeded to assign all 15 chapters (sometimes back to back)....
Grace is a great teacher and all her quiz and exams are based on what she went over in class. If you make flash card and know the information on the power point, you will find that her exams aren't that hard. She's a bit tricky when it come to grading, but she's willing to help you understand the material. I find it helpful to record the lecture.
She is very detailed on each answer. Exams every 2 weeks. Assignments 2 for each week. Really tough grader, she wanted a very specific answer in each questions. I won't take her again, but overall she's great
way too tough of a grader. no extra credit and impossible to catch up if you fall behind. nice and interesting teacher but taught an entry level community college class like it was advanced ivy league psych masters degree class.
I don't know what the previous rater was talking about. Grace gives an extra credit assignment and gives opportunities for extra credit throughout the quarter. I frequently e-mailed her with questions and she replied back very fast and always answered my questions. I learned a lot more than I thought I would. Would recommend this class.
I loved this class! Grace Kim gives very interesting lectures and is a clear grader. If you come to class, and listen to lectures you can pass the class, most of the test questions come from the lectures. Show up, do the work, you will pass, and its an interesting course. She is kind and helpful as well. I will definitely take her again!
She's nice but a tough grader and she is unwilling to work with you. Assignments are confusing and exams are difficult. Every other psychology instructor I've had has been very helpful and they were super easy classes, but not this one!
One of the easiest (if not THE EASIEST) social science classes you will take at EvCC. Although attendance plays a crucial part in your grade, it really does help bc everything she says and is written in the ppt outlines will be on the exams (which is actually not very much). Her in-class applications help make remembering/studying concepts easier!
This is an amazing online class, it was the first one I took and the structure is very routine so there is no surprises so great if you work because you know what to expect every week along with the fact she is very fast with responding to questions through canvas, I would highly recommend this class for someone who has a lot on their plate.
She's very clear on what she wants you to know and even provides the lecture notes with fill in the blanks. If you come to class everyday and study exactly what is on those notes, the exams will be easy. The weekly quizzes are the only time you need your textbook. She's a great professor.
Easy A even though she's really smart. You don't need to read the book but on the weekly online quizzes (they're easy) you'll need it for 3 questions. It's also really interesting and I got some life lessons from it. Her tests aren't hard but you do need to do a little review. If you don't read the book, you need to show up for class. Participate.
I certainly didn't give this class my all. She provides lecture notes with fill in the blank that make it pretty easy. Make sure your handwriting is clear! I lose points on the my As weren't completely clear (they were, I'm still bitter about this). Make sure to sit by people you can stand because you're gonna have to work together.
Easy A.
Professor Kim gives a wonderful class. Her lectures are easy to follow and interesting. Her tests are very reasonable as well. Study the in class notes and you'll do just fine. My only complaint is the group work. Social loafers are the worst to work with. Otherwise, attend the class, learn the material, and you'll do well.
Very clear outlines of what she requires, and is always available if you have any questions. Isn't a class you can "phone-in", but I took an honors class, so her grading might be a bit more tough here. It was the most fun I've had in a class and I would love to take another class with her.
Grace was a great professor! I wouldn't reccomend skipping class because you'll fall behind very quickly. You have some work to do online but it's fairly easy. Rarely get homework. Overall a super fun class!
I took the honors class of psych 100, and it was great. As long as you take good notes you will pass no problem. Her exams were relevant to what we learned in class, and the weekly papers were clearly outlined and easy to write. I learned a lot and actually had a lot of fun too. Group assignments weren't too tough, and overall she was awesome :)
Grace Kim is an excellent teacher. She is very organized, to-the-point, and puts lots of effort into truly teaching. Her lectures are clear and it's easy to take notes, and she answers your questions respectfully and thoroughly. Yes, there are weekly quizzes and chapter readings, but they aren't extremely difficult. Great class!
Kim is in my top 3 favorite teachers of all time. It's been such a blessing to have her here at Everett, I don't know how this college landed such a top tier PSYC teacher, but if you have the chance to take her class, DO NOT HESITATE. Your grade is what you work for. I love Grace and I hope to have her as a professor again. Shes the best psy teach!
Grace Kim is the reason why I am going into my bachelors in psych. I took 3 psych classes with her at evcc, she is very knowledgeable, has great stories, makes sure her students learn. Exams were relatively hard, but if you study you'll be fine. She's fun, kind, and willing to help you if you need it. Take a class with her!
Grace is a great teacher! Very lecture heavy so take notes! She says to read the textbook before quizzes each week but as long as you take good notes her class is an easy A. Be sure to show up because she does in-class assignments and you can't make those up. Great and flexible teacher. She's very nice.
This is now my second time taking a class with Grace, and again, I'm not disappointed. Her online class is very organized, clear, and as long as you manage your time well, the load is very reasonable. I have really enjoyed learning psychology from this professor. EvCC has hit a home run when they hired Grace Kim!
I am so happy that I have chosen Grace as a professor this quarter! Her lectures are very to the point and as long as you pay attention and take notes you will do an excellent job! Her tests aren't very hard, just make sure you study (minimal effort though seriously). There are weekly quizzes every Sunday but they are open note and open book!
Grace is beyond clear during her lectures, she gives many examples. She is very relaint on powerpoint and she expects you to take notes. There is a 10 point quiz every Sunday and 2 exams and a final. No open note on anything except the quizzes. She is a very likeable person, and I enjoyed her class thoroughly.
Grace is a great teacher, for she always explains the material in great detail and makes sure everyone understands it. There is most of the time in-class-assignments, so coming to lecture is a must. Make sure to study for her exams because they will make-or-break your grade. Overall great teacher and for sure would take her again
As an instructor, she has clear expectations, is organized, and enjoys hearing from students (whether it be to clarify something or to add some personal experience to the discussion). She also grades very quickly and provides great feedback. As a person, she is very calm, down-to-earth, and engaging. Just remember to study VERY well for tests!
Grace is an excellent instructor! The class overall was pretty easy and a substantial amount of homework and reading were given each week. Make sure to read and take notes when reading, especially paying attention to both bolded and italicized words.
Her lectures are very interesting and I would definitely take a class with her again. She cares a lot about attendance and will do in-class assignments so make sure you show up for class.
NOT AN EASY A! Each week you have to do: discussions, disc. replies, weekly assign. & weekly quiz. You have 2 big exams (Midterms & Finals) both timed. Finals is cumulative. It's not a hard class, but there's just A LOT OF HW/ to do's each week. Mid terms & Finals really impact your grade by A LOT. My midterms knocked my down from 93% to 88%
She is an awesome teacher! I took her for lifespan psychology and I really enjoyed the class. There are weekly quizzes and in class assignments, but personally I was thankful for them because they prepare you for her exams. I missed the class when it was over. If you're willing to put in the work an A is attainable.
I loved taking her class, it was a lot of reading , but a very fun class. Her lectures are super interesting and you can tell she is very passionate about psychology. I am definitely going to take my next psych class with her.
Grace gives excellent lectures with clear examples. Skipping this class is a bad idea since the tests are based only off of in class lectures and she does not post them online in order to encourage students to come to class. If you take good notes, read your text book, and study all the terms well then you will have no problem passing.
Grace was a great professor. Her lectures were interesting, and she didn't give out too much homework. Mostly just have to show up to every class and take the online quizzes. Really organized and clear about what she wants from her students.
Grace was an amazing teacher. She is very kind and always helpful. She often would have group projects in class that were sometimes a little confusing, but it was nothing too hard. Her lectures were very insightful and clear. She often would leave room for extra credit, but not a lot, so take advantage of it when you can get it.
Really awesome instructortor! Really engaging! Ties in great examples to help understand the material. Has a really energetic personality that makes the class a great atmosphere.
Grace is an amazing teacher. Her lectures are interesting and easy to understand. In class you must pay attention and take notes, or you'll struggle with the weekly online quiz. She makes the quizzes and exams based only off of stuff covered in class, so skipping class is a bad idea. I highly recommend this class.
Lots of group homework and in-class activities, every week.
Grace is so kind and a wonderful professor. My only complaint is her hard grading. You have to have very perfect responses in order to get 100% on even in-class assignments. Attendance is marked so you must show up to class. Grace makes the class very fun and interactive and really enjoyable.
Grace is simply the best. Her lectures are crystal clear and she uses amazing examples to get the concept straight. There is a research paper to do that is completed throughout the quarter. It's nothing too scary, but make sure to always stay ahead of it.
I liked her a lot and I thought she was a good teacher, I just found the subject to be difficult. On her tests, you really need to study before it in order to get a good grade/the grade you want.
Grace is an amazing teacher! There are weekly online quizzes and a few in class group assignments. The exams are pretty easy if you study the material.
Amount of work is fine, and her assignments are easy, but the way she presents the information could be so much more organized. I feel like when I am taking notes I don't know where to write anything, or if shes going to return to that subject or not. This makes it so when its time to take the test, you don't remember the notes you took in class
her lectures are very engaging. her tests are mostly multiple choice so they are fairly easy if you put in the effort to study unless you have to make them up then they're all short answer and essay questions. shes really easy to talk to and get a hold of outside of class. I loved her so much I'm signed up for her psych 200 class next quarter.
There was a lot of content that Grace covered therefore making the class challenging. I wouldn't suggest taking psych 100 if you are looking for an easy A, but Grace does keep lectures fun and interesting. She is a great teacher that also uses light humor. It's worth taking her class if you are up for the challenge!
Grace is an amazing professor. She has a deep care and understanding for the subject and it comes off in her interesting lectures. She gives great examples and elaborates to make sure the subject matter makes sense. She has weekly quizzes and frequent in class assignments which shouldn't be difficult if you show up to class.
Very standard college professor. Just pay attention and read the textbook and youll be just fine. Prof Kim makes lectures interesting and engaging, just make sure to show up.
She gives so many good examples to help you remember the material and study for tests. Her stories to go with the lectures are always funny and relatable. She loves hearing from students and clarifying anything. You must go to the class and take notes or you won't pass. Weekly easy chapter quizzes are posted on canvas.
LOVED GRACE! She made psychology really fun! Definitely one of my favorite classes ever. She gives two exams, and a final which is semi-cumulative. There are attendance quizzes which are easy points if you show up. The homework took me a total of two hours for the whole quarter which was really nice. Great prof, definitely recommend! :)
Grace Kim was an amazing teacher! I was worried to take a psychology class, as I have no prior knowledge of anything in that field, but the way she structured her lectures and assignments made it very interesting and easy to understand. The biggest thing is to show up, take notes, and study well for tests!
She was a great teacher to have for the class. To pass the class you have to attend, and take all the notes. The notes are the most helpful thing you can do for yourself, as daily quizzes will rely on the notes you take (you can use your notebook for these daily quizzes)
I took Kim Grace for 2 courses Psyc100 and Psych200 and I don't regret it! She makes the class very enjoyable and enjoys students engaging. Her class is very organized, every week is basically the same, lecture, group assignment, & quiz . Throughout the quarter you have about 2-3 exams with study guides (awesome), and an individual project.
Grace is an excellent Psych teacher! She is clear in lectures. She gives quizzes consistent w/ material from the textbook & lectures that week. She gives the entire week to take the quiz, so it is convenient to your individual schedule. The lectures/videos she posts are often repetitious of the material in the book so you only need to skim the text
Her class is structured very well. Follows syllabus. Modules include lecture videos, supplement material, and notes. She is knowledgeable and gives you everything needed to be successful. I absolutely loved taking this class. Wish I could take her for psych200
Take this class for an easy psych 200 online class. This class was basically just a small quiz every week that you must do, a final exam that was just like the small quizzes but a bit larger, an easy paper at the end that was 3-4 page, and a discussion board that lasts 2 weeks. Quizzes and exams you can go back and forth on questions. Easy A
If you want to take Psychology Kim is an amazing choice. The classwork is super organized and structured in a smart way. Her video lectures are interesting to listen to and explain material very well. You need to read the textbook each week which can take a while, but isn't boring. There are weekly quizzes but if you do the work you will do great!
This Instructor does not know how to teach an online class. If you need to take a psyc class, choose a different instructor. Spending around 20 hours a week alone in her class and still getting graded terribly due to her horrible teaching methods and unhelpful feedback. This instructor made me lose my desire to pursue psychology as my minor.
Professor Kim's lectures are short and sweet with multiple parts to them, which makes it easier to study in chunks rather than all at once. Kim does a great job of explaining the material and using lots of examples. 100% would take again.
I did take Grace Kim's Psych 200 class summer quarter, so there was a lot of reading. She really wants her students to reach out with questions, and is very quick to respond. She wants us all to do well. If you keep up with the lectures, reading, and discussions, you will have no problems with the class. I would definitely recommend her!
I enjoyed this class to the fullest! Grace was very helpful and provided videos, lectures, and a study guide. She was very responsive and accessible to her students. I wish I had taken her class for Psych100. I would recommend her 100%
This class was by far one of my favorite classes taken. Grace was great at communicating with everyone and even gave extra days on assignments when she made a mistake with due dates. Her lectures can be long, but she makes everything interesting and uses great examples. There is a quiz every week but it was open note and book so not hard at all.
I took PSYC&220 as an online course, and Grace absolutely transformed the way I saw psychology and helped me see my potential as a student who always struggled with structure and note-taking. Her weekly lectures are long, but the clarity and quality of them are worth the time. She truly cares about her students, and I'd recommend her to everybody
Grace is amazing! I loved taking her class. The weekly workload was easy for me, as I am a full-time employee while attending college. Grace really shows sympathy and she cares about her students! I loved her lectures! All assignments and quizzes are due on Sunday. Do the work, reach out for help if/as needed and get an easy A!
Professor Kim is an amazing Psychology professor. She makes the subject interesting and keeps you engaged. She does not offer many assignments so you need to stay on top of it and not let your grade drop from the beginning or you will never get it back up. She truly values her students and gets to know each of them. Highly recommend her!
*hybrid class* rarely gives homework. Will have a quiz every week (30 minutes w/ 20 questions) She goes over PowerPoints which she gives to us before class. Take notes and you will pass. She is very caring. She gives feedback over your work. I would definitely take her again.
Professor Kim is amazing, and I looked forward to going to her class every morning. I didn't even care that it was 8 in the morning because her class was always so interesting. Her lectures are long, but you love every second because it is so interactive. Her tests and quizzes actually match up with what you are learning! Take her class!!
Very clear and easy to follow online class set-up. Interesting and helpful lectures. There was never anything on the quizzes that wasn't easily found in the lecture notes or textbook. Had Grace Kim again the following quarter for Abnormal Psych and class structure was very similar. Great instructor!
There is very minimal work, only one quiz per week for each chapter we do that week, there is rarely homework assignments just lecture notes, her lectures are very entertaining and easy to understand
I really enjoyed the structure of the class. The lectures made the entire content of the class easy to understand.
After the first week, you will understand the routine for the whole quarter which is nice for planning. One quiz and one assignment for the whole week along with some reading to help with those assignments. As long as you show up to class and read whats assigned, everything will be pretty easy to do.
Professor Kim is fantastic. I've learned tons about psychology disorders and how her class is set up is very cohesive. Weekly there are video lectures, 30-40 pages of textbook reading (like any psychology class), a quiz, and an assignment. Do by the due date she provides and you'll do well. Would recommend, especially if on social science pathway!!
If you like daycare this is the class for you. I do not learn well with stuffed animals nor do most college students.
Absolutely amazing professor! Very easy, and her lectures are engaging and entertaining. She barely gives out homework and they take less than 30 minutes. She has open note weekly quizzes, but the answers are all taken from the lecture, so make sure to take notes. I barely opened my textbook and still managed to pass solely off her lectures!
Professor Kim is a great instructor, she has clear instruction with detailed rubrics. There is a lot of reading along side this class, but that's just the nature of the class itself. She does have high expectations with discussion posts in the detail you put into them. There's also quizzes every week with lectures you have to listen to.
Very organized course. You know what to expect every week. She is very gracious and understanding. I recommend! The only downside is her discussions are set up in a Part 1/Part 2 style but are listed as due on the Part 2 date so it is easy to forget about the initial post due-date. Overall, I recommend it.
If she will teach Psych 200 spring quarter 2024 I will drop my current psych 200 without a doubt and transfer to her class. Ms. Kim has the best format of lecture. Her lecture notes are very easy to follow and she gives great examples for each of the terminologies. Best professor that I ever had in EVCC. I learned a lot from her Psych 100 class.
LITERALLY AMAZING! She gave great lectures, offered help if needed, only 2 exams that were mostly multiple choice and based on notes given in class, and gave review notes. We had one chapter to read each week that was around 30-50 pages and a quiz based on the textbook and notes in class but they weren't hard at all. Very enjoyable class. Take!
Clear instructions and expectations, online lectures weren't boring either.
Gives great feedback on Written homework, Be prepared for 1 h 40 m of lectures. lecture heavy but she gives breaks. Lots of reading and a weekly online quiz. Written exams are difficult and there are no extra credit options. I have cried many times over my grade. she is a good person and professor only if you like to study.
This was an amazing class! Grace Kim was a great teacher and I learned so much from taking her class. Her lectures were engaging, she provided outlines for each week's notes, and there were never any surprise assignments or quizzes. She is a bit of a tough grader, so pay attention to details in the homework. I highly recommend taking this class!
in a time of “flipped classroom” classes, grace keeps it old school- lectures, notes, quizzes every week. if you hate watching video “lectures” like me, i would definitely recommend taking her. she is a bit of a harsh grader but i loved her attitude and everything she taught actually made sense!
If you seen those TikTok's ab professors who write an intimidating scary syllabus for a simple social science or humanities class, that's this class. Attendance is mandatory, hw will tank your grade bc she's a tough grader on these. For a psychology professor she's pretty merciless😭the class isn't bad, just not my type of class. Doable class tho.
Grace comes across as nice and caring, but when it comes to grading she is savage and emphasizes equality over equity. Disabled students beware. No compassion or empathy.
I thought Grace was awesome. Her class was taught really well and she always gave good feedback. She was a tough grader but I think overall she was very fair.
Her class is good, she gave impressive examples. Participant matters. However, she is a tough grader.
As long as you read the textbook and follow the lecture videos you are good. cannot turn in late quizzes
She's okay. I mean her class isn't the worst I've ever taken. Her personality doesnt make me excited to learn. She's blunt and passive. I understand what shes saying but she repeats it a lot, its doubling down. Good class, okay teacher. I really love psychology and I did like the class, I just wish it felt like she cared more.
Honestly do no recommend this professor. Does not give clear instructions and shows no mercy when grading assignments. Very strict on everything and doesn't seem to care about doing much for students. TONS of note taking and her lectures don't help much when it comes to taking quizzes and tests.
This class mostly consisted of the same reading and watching lectures every week with an open note quiz at the end. If you dislike reading, don't take this class. The content is very heavy for some chapters. The feedback given on each of the written assignments was critical and it felt really difficult to do well on written assignments.
She would ask students to prepare the lecture notes before class and as we would go through the lectures more information could be added to our notes so we weren't scrambling to write everything down. Attendance matters but not graded because each lecture has you need to know for tests. She gives good feedback on the 3 HW assignments we had.
