I have grown so much from this class. I enjoyed this class sooo much and wanted to suceed in it, that I never missed class. And if I had too, I would inform her. I learned about gratitude which helped me keep motivated and truly made me a better person. This class does have a lot of work. But nothing to be intimidated by. This class helped me grow!

Interpersonal communication is such a great class. Mrs. Stinson pushed my circle of growth way out. Before this class i was extremely introverted, now that this class is almost over i noticed that i am more outgoing and it is easier to do presentations because im not as shy.

This class helped me grow my personality. I am a shy person and this class helped me find myself and become comfortable with who I am. The work load is pretty heavy but everything activity you do helps you grow as a person. Because the work load is heavy I advise you to not wait until the last minute to do the homework. Overall this class is GREAT!

Com 9 was not an easy class but I'm glad that I took this class with Mrs. Stinson. She is very clear from the beginning that this class requires a lot of homework and reading. If you are lazy, this is NOT the class for you. I really learned a lot from this class and she really pushes you to do your best!

Laziness will not do in this class. The student must be diligent with their homework. In every lecture you will learn many communication tools. When you are done with this class you have learned effective ways to communicate.

Most definitely NOT an easy class, along with English 1B it's been the hardest class I've taken in college, but you will learn SO much. Mrs. Stinson is such an inspiring and dedicated teacher! I personally feel that she is a bit intimidating to students. I took 2 classes w/ her (both including several presentations). I feel like I did grow as a communicator in her class, however, it wasn't until I took other com teachers (like Ruth) that I felt more confident & less nervous while presenting. Strict zero tolerance for late work, as well as no grade curving. Expect some assignments that are outside the curriculum that WILL effect your grade. Teacher truly believes in the source material though. If you have interest in Interpersonal then take this, but if your just looking for a class to satisfy a requirement than keep looking.

This class has made me confident in my voice and words. I was a little shy going into this class and I came out as a 3rd place winner in the Competition at the end. All thanks to this amazing lady. She may be a hard teacher when it comes to grading but she gives you all the tools needed in Blackbored and in a 60 page packet she gives you day 2.

I have changed greatly from the first day I walked into her class. I was shy and afraid to speak to others, but she helped me to believe in myself and spent one hour to coach me how to become a credible speaker. Her method of teaching does make you grow stronger as a person. Take Com-1 with Mrs. Stinson and you will not regret it.

This class is easy regarding what is expected of us, but at the same time it's pretty difficult trying to keep up with the speeches and can be time consuming. The professor will be pretty unpredictable, but there's always a method to her madness that will make us better students, so if you're looking for a challenge, this is a professor for you.

This class really made me work. Not that that's a bad thing. Here, you're going to drag everything you've done before and look at it anew. She'll work you to the ground, she'll grade hard, but above all, she'll make you grow whether you like it or not. This is NOT a class for the lazy, this is a serious class with a serious teacher.

She seems intimidating at first, but I felt the work load wasn't too rigorous. Keep up with REQUIRED notes and one journal assignment a week, you'll be fine. However, her forced participation makes you grow as a person and pushes you out of your comfort zone. Not for the faint of heart. Will criticize you if you don't live up to her standards.

This class is tough. There is work to be done but you learn a lot and I feel like it's a stress reliever kind of class. You can learn a lot about yourself. Don't take the class of you know you'll slack off.

Although definitely a tough class the professor is great. I stuck with the class as it really pushed me to be disciplined with my work as there is a lot of reading and note taking in this class. She doesn't teach in a conventional sense, everything is interactive and is for the benefit of her students. A very challenging BUT INTERESTING class! I stayed because I was actually applying the things I learned DAILY from this class. The reading is concept based so be sure to know the CONCEPT and not just memorize definitions. Mrs. Stinson CARES about her students she can be very FIRM but is extremely kind. She is a great inspiring teacher! if you do not like teachers that talk a lot do not take her. Work is not hard it just takes time. if you are lazy do not take the class. She is really helpful with HW. group presentation at the end of the semester, its not as hard/bad as it seems she is a good easy grader as long as you show effort.

In COM1 I have learned to be comfortable with speaking in front of an audience. She enforces how important is to speak without notes and how to correctly format a speech. Mrs. Stinson has allowed my character to grow, she taught me that every little effort expands your circle of growth. Although she expects a lot from her students, she is great!

Mrs Stinson's COM9 class is life changing, she is such an inspirational professor who really cares about her students and motivates you to work hard. From day one she tells you what is expected and if you are not about growing as a person to DROP! The class is not easy but she pushes you and at the end you apply everything you learned for life.

As dedicated to her students as she is to her discipline. She expects to see passion, discipline, and excellence from her students and will throw her heart and energy to help them succeed. It's a life-changing experience if you are willing to put the effort into it.

It is honestly a class that will make you work but the more you put in, the more you get out of it. Mrs. Stinson is a tough teacher and demands alot but it will push you to be a better student and an overall better person. You will come out a very confident public speaker and an enlighten human being.

I am grateful for taking this class for many reasons. I was nervous this course would be too much for me with the amount of homework given, but it's nothing too difficult and easy to maintain. Stinson was a very amazing professor, and this class has made me learn so much about myself and helping me create beneficial communication skills.

Mrs. Grace Stinson, has not only taught how to be open about my feelings and myself, but she has taught me that it is okay to open up to others. This course was so helpful, in a way that it let me be able to come out of the socially awkward bubble I was in. It help me grow as a person and it came with great help from the professor.

She is a tough grader. I went in thinking she would be chill with us since it is a public speaking course and most students are not use to public speaking. She goes easy on the first speech but then hits like a truck with the other ones. She really wants you to know your material. Time is also a major factor because she is critical on that.

Mrs. Stinson is a tough grader but has an amazing personality and will push you to be the best that you can be. She truly cares for her students and always wants them to succeed. She helps in everything and takes her role as a professor very serious Her motivational and inspirational lectures really changed my perspective towards life :)

Overall, the material is easy to understand & is very useful in real-life situations. I learned various ways to manage conflicts & how to effectively communicate with others. Mrs. Stinson adequately prepares you to present information to others, highly recommend this class for people that have an irrational fear of public speaking like I did.

Overall this class was not an easy class you are expected to work very hard in order to receive a good grade. There is a lot of writing in this class. Mrs. Stinson is very enthusiastic, she gives 100% effort in teaching. She serious like a boss, you should be on time with the assignment, but still loving like a mom.

I am grateful I learned a lot more than just how to lose the fear of speaking in public. Because of all of the extra work that we do we have the opportunity to learn about how to apply interpersonal communication skills to all facets of life not just how to present them or how to hide them. It is important to stay focused and keep up with the work.

I have a full time job and half of my 2 days off were use to prepare for weekly quiz and weekly journals. Taking a quiz at the beginning of class and have it grade it by classmates made me tried harder because I didn't anybody see my quiz with a low grade. If your feelings get hurt by any savage but legitimate criticism find another professor.

at the beginning, i really didn't appreciate her, though that she was horrible. don't care about you type, but later during the course you begin to realize that shes really a good teacher just in her way. specially if do the speech tournament, you be amazed on things your capable of doing with out notes. would i take her again? yes.

My experience was a mixed bag. Academically speaking, she is an ideal professor-- clear and generally no nonsense. There is baggage! She's incredibly pedantic, the "inspirational" part borders on rude on occasion, and if you pay close attention she lets her personal opinions slip into the lecture. My recommendation: Take This Class With Care!

She does not read of the text book she actually lectures and carefully explains every little thing in high detail. the class in general is easy. basically show up, do your work and pay attention and you're set. there is a fair amount of homework but she does give examples on how to do your assignments and that makes homework so much easier. She can be a bit tough but she cares. its a great class and I recommend taking her.

I can honestly say that taking her class was a great experience. She is a great mentor. She can be tough on you, but that is because she really cares for you. The homework can be a little tough at times but she gives great examples, so that helps you understand it. When you take the mini tests you can have notes with you.

Professor Stinson is an amazing. Her lectures are done so they could include real life examples. This class makes you practice what you read in the book since everyone does each concept in the text. To succeed in this class you need to take excellent notes that are in dept in meaning. Do you work early and make sure to make time for group projects.

Immediately after the first day , I knew this class was something special. Not only will you learn techniques that will apply to every class in your college career ie. Verifying resources, Citing, Speaking in Public etc., but the knowledge I learned from Mrs. Stinson's passionate lectures will stay with me for the rest of my life. No regrets here.

In this class, I've learned quite a bit about Interpersonal Communication. Knowledge on it helped me so much in marriage, friendship, and family. Mrs. Stinson is quite demanding, but also cares for your success, so make sure you read the textbook, upload journals ahead of time to reduce the weight of course load, and you'll be just fine!

Taking Mrs. Stinson's class and learning about Interpersonal communications, I have noticed a big change on how I communicate with others and how I have grown personally. Mrs. Stinson sets high hopes for everyone because she cares for your success, just make sure you have the textbooks, take good notes, and do all of the journals and activities.

She promised to "expand my circle of growth" and make me a better person than I was in the beginning of the semester. I could probably say she followed up on that promise. Her expectations are quite clear from the very beginning and she provides examples for her assignments to help you get a good idea of what quality and style of work she wants.

Take Mrs. Stinson's class if you actually want to take a Public Speaking class where you will actually learn something. Not just did I learn about public speaking, but I was able to learn how to speak WITHOUT using notes! It sounds tough, but so rewarding! She invested in me as a student inside and outside the classroom. Would take again any day!

This course taught me how to properly research information. Mrs. Stinson's motto was excellence, and this allowed me to not procrastinate and be on time with assignments. My experience in this class was actually pretty inspirational. I changed my habit of being a procrastinator because she does require no notes when doing the speeches. I know it must sound scary to use no notes but it actually very rewarding. It made me work harder and then after the speech I felt great about my self because I used no notes.

I learned so much from Mrs. Stinson. Thanks to her enthusiasm for communication, she nurtured in me a confidence I never knew I could possess for public speaking. With that confidence, I was able to present my psychology research to college students and faculty. If you aren't afraid to grow out of your comfort zone, I recommend taking her class.

Professor Stinson is extremely passionate about her profession. She is very inspirational, and has helped me in opening up to be a fluent and strong communicator in public speaking. She has made me more optimistic regarding college and having a good work ethic. If you take her class, work in increments and at least five days before due dates.

The class has much to offer in terms of learning how to deliver speeches and prepare your research for them, but I believe the real gem to take away from it is the life lessons Mrs. Stinson offers. It was a class I had no intention of taking had it not been mandatory, but by the end of the first lecture, I was motivated and anticipating the next.

This class has made me grow as a person and I liked how it made me see things differently, having a better outlook in life. I learned that my choices in the future will lead me to be in the mail room or the boardroom; I would like to be in the boardroom.

Did I do a lot of work for this class? Yes. Was it necessary? Absolutely. I have had the privilege of attending both UCR and RCC. By far, this was one of the best classes I have ever taken. This class is extremely applicable to every-day life. I worked hard by doing a lot of the assignments early and following the exemplars diligently.

Was this class useful for the future? Absolutely the professor made us students study to become a better version of ourselves. Be prepared to stand up in a audience. Be prepared to project your voice in class.

Mrs. Stinson is a very professional and specific type of professor. She lays out what is expected of you and does not help those who do not want to help themselves. Very impressive woman with strong standpoints on politics, religion, etc. The work load is heavy and if you do not show you will not pass.

Although Mrs. Stinson is an outward person with her beliefs and opinions, I believe that those qualities of her make her a great teacher. One of the best professors for constructive criticism ever. Was an inspiration to me and I found her class very enjoyable. If you take the class, put in the effort to do work and do quality work.

High expectations and does not accept excuses. Assignments are well explained. You have to work but it's one of those classes that if you actually do the work then you have nothing to worry about.

Mrs. Stinsons class is very rigorous. Textbook is a must since the very first lecture. Absorb every chapter content as much as possible you will needed and will be of benefit to your life as well. This class is probably the hardest class I've ever taken. I'm not a fan of presenting so I struggled with my speeches. However, after every speech I got better. If you want to pass this class you can't procrastinate, you must read, be prepared at all times, take notes, & most importantly PRACTICE your speeches. P.S: Be prepared to do a lot of work!

It is a lot of work and you will have to work for your grade, but Professor Stinson gives you several clear examples of what she wants, so it makes it easy. I hated public speaking coming in and now I dont mind, I no longer get anxiety going up to speak in front of people. She will help you grow as a person, but it wont be easy.

Be Prepared for a lot of work in this class. She does give materials to help you succeed in the class and she sends you reminders for what is due so that's helpful. If you stay on top of all the homework you will pass the class so don't procrastinate or you will fail. Over all good professor though, she helped build my confidence!

Com 1 has increased my vocabulary, it has expanded my knowledge of how to properly do a research when writing my speeches, professor Stinson was born to be a teacher. She encourages and sets her students up for success. From giving out guidelines on the course and sending us reminders on remind you do not have a choice but to put in your best.

This class consists of a lot of work. Professor Stinson does a good job at preparing her students for success through handouts and clear expectations of the assignments. This class focuses heavily on communicating with your other classmates and is a very effective class for getting over a fear of public speaking.

High workload in terms of preparation and execution but well worth it. Stinson makes you work for your grade but the amount of self growth (in terms of hard work, personal values, how to be professional) at the end of the course makes up for it all. I am a more confident speaker today because of this course.

She is one of the few professors I have met that genuinely care about her students. She is a person of principle and ethic so your conduct in class is pivotal. I have learnt a lot from her that I will never forget such as the principle of superposition(not physics). Her concept of 3 main ideas for every speech is also something I will use forever.

This class was a lot of work but it disciplines you. The professor gives you pretty much all the examples for what she expects in all 4 speeches in the semester. Make sure you use the tools she gives you, it is literally all there! Do not miss class because she is super strict about attendance and will not accept any late work!

Taking Mrs. Stinsons com-9 class was the best way to start off my first semester in college!! She taught me how to stop procrastinating in my work. My speech skills improved as well. She teaches beyond the text book and the study of gratitude. Your upward mobility and circle of growth will expand. You must get the text book and read it!

Mrs. Stinson has been more of a mother than a teacher over the course of this semester. She has provided lessons that we not only learned, but lived throughout the time we spent with her.

Im grateful I have taken this class because Ive learned so much about myself and others. Mrs. Stinson lectured for 3 hours and my learning preference is more visual and kinesthetic. If you are able to stay focused and actually pay attention to hearing someone lecture for three hours I highly recommend this class. This class was very beneficial.

Professor Stinson was a great teacher that taught us a lot of things which can be applied to the real life and in the work place as well. She has also taught us a plethora of life lessons. Make sure to stay on top of the work because every point counts.

I really enjoyed this class.I learned a lot about myself while learning how to effectively communicate with others. Be prepared to read the entire textbook, take notes weekly, journals weekly, and quizzes. This class is easy you just have to show up and be dedicated to getting your work done. There is also a final speech presentation.

As long as you do your work and weekly reading, I don't think that this class is all that difficult to class. Mrs Stinson is probably the most inspirational instructors I've ever had. I learned just as much about communication as I did learn about myself. Not to mention, I appreciated her use of "The Magic". It's a great exercise for graditude.

Puts a tons of energy and passion into teaching this course. Classes are mostly lectures and discussions, with interpersonal activities to make the environment much more friendly. She is very transparent which makes it easy to be fully prepared, so make sure to do so and have required books because she does hold high expectations.

She works for YOUR upward mobility! I am now able to to create and present speeches without notes, argue both sides of the story, and add value to peoples life. I've grown so much this past semester being in Mrs. Stinson's class. She is well organize and is not afraid to give you feedback. She pushes to go beyond your capability for an assignment. You have to to earn your grade by doing to the work in the class, it's not an easy A.

This is college, she says if she worked in Harvard she would "work the same" meaning she is as professional as anyone can get. If not it's a stronger profession as this professor is a great speaker and very woke in her mind. We as students must read the syllabus and see if we want the commitment. This class is a character enhancer and a challenge.

I am really grateful that I took this class with Mrs. Stinson because I can actually use what I learned about communication within my everyday life. While she does have a lot of assignments, they are only to help you grow as a person and a communicator. She gives awesome feedback and genuinely cares about her students!

This professor is like no other... really... She works so that the money you spend on the class is never wasted. She is always on time and she loves to be enthusiastic. as my final thoughts I would say just be nice to her, theres not many professors like her and she really is passionate about her profession, this showed me what I would like to be.

Mrs. Stinson truly cares about her students and her lectures have added tremendous value to my life. There is a lot of work but the things you learn will better equip you for future interactions with others.

Do not take this class if you do not put lots of effort into your assignments. This class was LOTS of work but it definitely makes you a better person and communicator. Her lectures are entertaining and she will push your limits, she cares lots about her students. Weekly reading quizzes that are open note and lots of partner activities and work.

I would highly recommend taking Mrs. Stinson, she is so inspiring and creates a comfortable environment for all her students. The work is average, it is not impossible she gives clear instructions on what she wants to see on the assignments Her lectures are never boring and her speeches are very eye opening. Best professor you could ever take!

I am grateful I took this class. I've learned so much about myself as well as the course material. Mrs. Stinson cares for your growth and gives top notch education. Do the work and you'll be good. Every class exercise is essential and purposeful.

Taking this class has taught me to be a better person. It has helped me have a better person in my classes and outside of them. She will teach you the study of gratitude and how to appreciate things alot better in life. Making you understand that person in their shoes just as she did with me. Excellent professor. Amazing experience. She truly cares about her students and you learn a lot of valuable life advice. Very motivating and inspiring. The workload is very manageable/simple. However, it will need some time management. Attendance is important. You will read the textbook. She is clear of expectations. Take her class!

If your looking for a professor that not only makes you a better student, but also makes you the better version of you then this is the professor to take. However, she is strong with her words (nothing communication cant fix), and she does have HIGH EXPECTATIONS. If you expect to pass by being lazy, doing minimum, or being lazy you wont pass.

Professor Stinson is a direct professor and is able to direct a full classroom towards completing assignments and genuinely pursuing understanding the text and applying it in real life.

Because of my enrollment in Prof. Stinsons course I have gained a greater understanding of myself/others. Personalized feedback is given in addition to a personalized learning experience. Lessons are not only valued in class but are also greatly applicable to real life. Be prepared to read the textbook & working with others.

NOT YOUR USUAL CLASS. Its only held once a week, but because of that, its critical that you stay on top of your work. The class focuses not only on the scientific aspect of interpersonal communication, but also the study of gratitude. Whatever youre expecting out of Mrs. Stinson, I promise its more than you can imagine.

In this class you must show up prepared. Nothing is busy work, so reel in all the points you can. The lectures are very inspirational and evident of her strong belief in and subsequently high expectations of you. The PASSION of this professor will be intimidating at first, but is eventually contagious. Watch gratefulness improve your relationships.

This has been a very impactful class in my college career. It will really teach you a lot and holds you accountable. if i could do it again i would! gives homework every week and makes you take notes in order to do quiz but you will learn a lot and have fun doing it. You have to speak in front of class a lot but she will get you very comfortable.

Being in this class takes dedication and effort. With your effort given will be the result of your grade. Therefore, being in this course was really amazing and life-changing because of the lectures that you learn in class are being applied through your personal life. This class was intense but it has equipped me with the tools necessary to successfully speak in public. Mrs. Stinson also introduced me to how to effectively utilize the tools at the school to assist with researching topics that I will use throughout the rest of my academic life. WARNING: this class is NOT an easy A, so if you are expecting that then I would suggest opting out. However, Mrs. Stinson does set you up for success and she does everything that she can to make sure you succeed in this course.

I was taking two science courses with this one, and this class gave me the most anxiety. Mrs. Stinson can be intimidating, but it's all done for your upward mobility. She's a unique professor who will provide you with inspiration and a shift in gratitude. As a result from her, I've begun to embed her teachings in life. Be prepared for hard work!

Ive grow as a student as it has forced teachings that are extremely helpful which I can carry on to other classes, at work and in my everyday life. This will not be an easy class but I am grateful for taking this class. I grew so much as a person and overcame my insecurities and shyness in having to speak in front of people. It is more than just a Public Speaking class you will learn about the real world and about yourself. If you're looking for an easy A, do not take this class.

Be prepared to have a lot of homework. You have to practice speeches otherwise you wont do well. Youre not allowed to use flash cards and speeches are usually gonna be anywhere from five minutes to 8 minutes long. Outlines also take a while to do. But I worked hard and got an A in the class, so if i did it, you can do it too.

Absolutely recommend taking this class! Mrs. Stinson is a professor who is highly passionate about her craft. Her methods of teaching are designed to prepare students for success both academically and on a professional level. This is by no means an easy class, you must be wiling to WORK HARD for your GRADE.

this class was definitely the hardest class ive ever taken, so if you are planning to get a easy A then i highly recommend that you dont take this. shes a good professor but its just shes a very strict grader but its all part of wanting us to succeed. be prepared for speeches that range from 6 to 8 minutes with no flashcards.

While you definitely have to work hard for your grade, she equips you with the tools needed for success. I really appreciated the fact that she emphasizes the class as a family, it made presenting much more easier. She says you need to buy the textbook, but I never used it. I took this class for Interpersonal Communication for my first term here at RCC. It was all online it was confusing sometimes but overall the work was easy if you actually understood what you had to do. You had to do the assignments exactly how she wants them or you wont pass. Overall informational class I liked it. It wasnt so bad. She was nice.

Professor Stinson is very direct and very strict about her rules. She's adamant about following instructions exactly, and she doesn't allow any resubmissions—so make sure to read everything carefully before submitting. Despite being strict, she was also kind and supportive. She really helped me out by offering extra credit opportunities.
