Research Methods, Summer B. Prof. White was very organized. From the first day, all the information we'd ever need was available to us online. She was even gone for the last week or so, and it was not even an issue; T.A. covered the lectures and we knew exactly what we needed to do to finish up the research project. Stress-free.
Took this class online. It was organized and clear. I thought the grading was unfair but contacted the TA and got it straightened out so don't hesitate to do that! A quiz, discussion or 1 pg written assignment, midterm, final. not a big fan of group work, but was a good class overall.
Dr. White was great at the start, but as the semester went on, she flaked out on the whole class. The class was very easy, literally all exam questions are from online quizzes, so there is no reason to not get 100% on both exams. It's an easy A, but she was not reliable.
She is ridiculous. 10 quizzes, 8 discussions, 5 papers, 3 exams, and 1 comprehensive final. Deadlines are not the same in different parts of the syllabus (on the schedule it was due on sunday and apparently it was due on wednesday). Too much work for a 3 credit course. I had less work in research methods of psych. Find someone else.
She is nice, but for a 3 credit class there is a lot of work. I took her online and you have a 8 group discussion, 5 papers, 3 exams and 10 quiz's. It is a lot of paper work and I have less work in my 4 credit Cognitive class online.
I took Dr. White for Psychology of Women online, and her class was incredibly clean-cut. Pay attention to the directions and deadlines, and definitely invest in a planner for this class. Read the book and you will do well, but be warned that this class is A LOT of work for an online class. Very fair/friendly professor, timely responses to e-mail.
This is the worst professor I have had at UCF. She basically reads the chapter before class and feeds it back to us. She drags on and on, basically beating the subject to death. I would not recommend anyone take her classes.
I will never take her again. The work was pretty easy, you use the book a lot, a lot of writing. Im getting a C in this class, BARELY, because the assignments page says everything is due Sunday, the syllabus says everything is due Sunday, and when you click on the assignment description, it was due on Wednesday and she doesn't accept late work. WTH
There is a lot of work for a 3 credit class. There's either a group discussion or a paper due every Sunday along with a quiz based on textbook. The assignments were very easy but she's not very clear on how she wants the assignments done. If I had known from the beginning how she wants each assignment formatted, I would have gotten an A
Took this class online, STAY AWAY!!! She is plain crazy. She has tons of writing papers required, plus quizzes and discussions. She makes a pleasurable class like this way too overwhelming but the ridiculous work load. I would not recommend her nor would I take her again!!!!!!!!
Initially, I really agreed with the general consensus for the professor. Why? Because everything was confusing unnecessarily--as if she is trying to make everything difficult. It's a shame because the subject matter is great. You can get a good grade but you must make sure every ridiculous thing she asks, you do.
STAY AWAY!!! She is absolutely insane and expects way to much for one course. I love the material, but she makes it absolutely miserable. The work load is more than Ive ever had, and I am a nursing student who has taken very "Hard" science courses before and this class put way more stress on me than anything Ive ever done before.
She is very clear about what she expects, and in her directions. Follow the guidelines and you are guaranteed a passing grade. Her assignments might seem insane but follow the guidelines, I never received anything lower than 100 on submitted material, except quizzes. Her tests are the quizzes. She uses the textbook for EVERYTHING.
Very helpful. Plenty of chances for extra credit. Every week there was a quiz and either a short paper or discussion post. Always gave feedback when full points were not earned on written assignments.
WAY too much work for a 3 credit course class and she's not helpful at all. My group turned in our assignment in the wrong place online and she didn't accept it. Not lenient enough..doesn't care.
The class is easy enough once you get used to it. You have to read the textbook then complete the assignments, all of which are due on Sunday every week. The papers are short (1-2 pages), but there are a lot of them. I contacted the professor once, and she was rude and unhelpful. She doesn't have the demeanor of someone who wants to help you.
Overall, I think her classes are decent. She is very clear on what she expects from you. The quizzes are from the book. The tests are based off of the quizzes. There are a bunch of short papers (1 page, so its not bad) and discussions. As long as you do the work and put forth effort, you'll easily earn an A in any of her classes.
straight forward class. weekly quiz andor paperdiscussion post. Need the book because you NEED to read the chapter to do well on the quizzes. However, it is interesting information and a relatively easy read. There is a good amount of work for this class, but it honestly isn't that difficult. I finished my weekly homework in 1 evening. Take her
This class was super easy, and Professor White was very helpful when emailed, and even offers grade change requests that a lot of times work out in your favor. She offers a ton of extra credit and if you read the chapters then you will do well on tests. The quizzes are the same questions on exams so its an easy A over all.
She is very wordy in her syllabus and sends out at least 4 announcements per week. 15 question quiz every week with a 25 minute time limit, so you need to read the chapter. You won't pass the quizzes without reading. Tests are literally the same questions as the quiz. Three 1-2 page papers and two group discussions. Easy, but you have to work.
This class wasn't awful but I don't know if I'd take her again. There is a lot of work but it's fairly easy. However she is NOT clear on what she expects from you and her due dates don't match up and are from previous semesters. She makes things more confusing then they need to be which is frustrating. The tests are made up of quiz questions.
There's quizzes you have to take which aren't that hard. Also discussions you have to participate in every week. You do have to do a bit of writing but she's fair and clear with her grading rubric. She makes the material interesting so the writing part won't be hard. Take her! You got nothing to lose.
Dr. White was a terrible teacher who does not care about her students that are not on her research team. She doesn't read the assignments, she doesn't teach, expects students to teach themselves and then wastes time during class for three hours. I didn't learn anything in her class and hated doing the group project throughout the entire semester.
This class consists of many papers, discussions, and quizzes (expect one of those each week). Textbook is a must. The class itself is pretty interesting in my opinion, opens your eyes a bit to modern society. The UTA's seemed to do most of the grading and they graded pretty fairly. Two group discussions that are not so difficult.
Great online Professor. Dr. White is always on top of reminding everyone what's due at least 2wice a week. She responds very quickly. Quizzes and tests are straight-forward (Multiple Choice). Writing assignments are pretty interesting. You get great APA style practice. Must purchase textbook and read to do well in course.
A lot of work, a lot of teaching yourself the material. Her instructions were not clear and if you emailed her to explain she was no help at all. It was so bad we all started a Facebook group to ask each other questions and to help each other out so we didn't all fail. It is possible to pass just expect to be VERY stressed throughout the course.
I took it online and did poorly due to 2 things.. I didnt keep up with the class like I should have and also I never really learned how to write in APA format. You do those two things the class is a easy A because all quizzes and exams are on quizlet.
Do not take her. I get that it's a 5 credit hour course and that there's a lot of work, but there was so much unnecessary stress. You have a semester long group project (in an online course, mind you) and my group did next to nothing so that was all on me. She's not very helpful in emails and is kind of rude. I wouldn't suggest her.
In a word: awful. Gave me a zero on an assignment and couldnt even tell me why, even though I turned it in. Very hard to get in contact with and when she does finally email you back, she doesn't give very helpful info. You teach the material to yourself because she honestly doesn't care. Stay far, far away if you value clarity and helpfulness.
This is by NO MEANS an easy class. It is very challenging and does require A LOT of work. There is also a huge group project that counts for half of the entire grade, so make sure you don't get stuck with terrible partners. The class average for my class was an 80
During my academic career I have encountered numerous professors however, this professor is the worst I have encountered. I will not take this professor class again and highly recommend to others not to take this class. I did good in this class however the stress and drama from this professor is simply not worth it.
She is the hardest teacher I have ever taken in college. She is a tough grader and has a lot of assignments due throughout the semester and multiple things do each week. Her instructions are very scattered are hard to understand. Would not recommend taking this class.
I WOULD NOT recommend this professor. She doesn't seem to know how to use webcourses, as she makes her student jump thru hoops just to see the weekly assignments, nor does she seem to know how to update the course schedule. She's a tough grader although she does provide a rubric. Quizlet's a big help, but she's quite hard on papers. Don't take her.
I wouldn't take her class again. She's a tough grader. She's not a bad professor, she just wants things her way, so if you HAVE to take her don't worry, just pay close attention to her instructions. Don't turn a paper in even a second late, you won't get credit and they're 300 points. But she does drop one paper. The TA is really nice and helpful.
Tough grader for papers so do the reading and get a good understanding of APA format. Quizzes are easy but you must read a lot. Exams are the same as quizzes. Instructions for assignments can get wordy and over-simplified, to the point of being confusing, so be careful. Lots of easy extra credit. DO IT. Wasn't too much work for a summer class.
This professor is not lenient at all. Does not give breaks!!! Very rude and made a mistake on the textbook ISBN. Will not allow anything late and grade roughly on APA formatting. Gives extra credit but at the beginning of course. Never excepted my Facebook friend request for extra credit and our final paper was due at noon instead of 11:59pm.
The worst professor I have ever had. Nothing about her assignments are clear, it is nearly impossible to figure out exactly what she wants from you. Makes you do a group project in a ONLINE CLASS. It's horrible. She's horrible. Prepare to ask her a ton of questions and get the meanest and useless responses.
Absolute worst class I've taken at UCF, as well as professor. Her assignments are close to impossible, her instructions are little to no help and tend to confuse you even more. She expects you to know how to do data analysis labs on your own, without providing any background knowledge. Semester long group research project. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
Does not offer any constructive help, only criticizes. 25% of students DROPPED the class. Rude, uncaring, DISRESPECTFUL, misleading. Writes directions in 3+ places, all written differently & blames you for HER mistakes. Never felt so discouraged by a professor in my life. BAD ATTITUDE. Does not need to be teaching!!!!!! Take ANYONE but this troll!!
Should not be teaching. She needs to go back to being a doctor where people can willingly pay her to patronize them and give HURTFUL and useless advice. I have had many teachers in my day but none that have made me want to DROP OUT OF SCHOOL like she did. Seriously spent hours on every assignment crying at my laptop. SO. MUCH. STRESS!!!!! STAY AWAY
Overall easy class. The only thing that really brings your grade down are the 4 papers you have to write. Tests are the same as quizzes and the syllabus is laid out nicely. Two group assignments which are super easy (if everyone participates). She offers extra credit too, but you most likely won't need it.
Definitely do not recommend this professor. She comes across as abrasive and aloof. I think she takes great joy in enforcing her syllabus on students. Don't expect any help from her. Just by looking at the syllabus you can tell she's overly neurotic when it comes to assignments and grades. Stay away!
Over 50% of the grade is based on the writing assignments (6 in total, 4 2-page papers and 2 discussions). There is a lot of reading to do and short quizzes, but the semester is separated into bite-sized pieces. As long as you keep up, the class is easy. One of the discussions was a partial group project. Overall, loved it, I'd take it again.
Dr. White is very caring. She has become my mentor and is very knowledgeable about many different topics. I took this course with her because I wanted to learn about the issues women face in our society. It was a challenging class, but I feel that I gained new knowledge and my writing skill improved tremendously.
Doc White was overall a great professor. She sends out two weekly announcements reminding you when assignments are due. There is typically a quiz every week and some form of writing assignment ever other week. The papers/discussions are easy as long as you read the chapter in the textbook, and provide your own insight. Quizzes/tests are on quizlet!
This class was easy if you kept up with it. However, don't go to her for help because she'll just be beyond rude and useless. I ignored all of the negative comments on her & took a risk but I wish I took them more into consideration!! She will in fact blame you as if everything is your fault even if you apologize and agree with her. Very rude prof!
I think this class was pretty easy online. The grading is tough for essays, but not it's not bad for an upper-level class. She doesn't like when you email her stuff that's found somewhere in her announcements so try to avoid that. Also for the quizzes, make sure to read the chapters, the book is a necessity for this class if online for sure.
AMAZING COURSE, but GW shouldn't be working in education. Papers hard and fun to write. Course content invaluable Prof. GW useless. Try to discuss anything with her, and she'll use her time to write an abusive, disrespectful 2+ page response, shaming you for being an inquisitive and curious student, rather than encourage, inspire, or answer Q's
Dr white is truly amazing. Honestly. Her personality made it feel not like a class room. And she is extremely understanding and knowledgeable. She show her passion and really projects it on others. Her class was tough. But she makes sure you know you earned that A. Best professors Ive ever met at UCF
First off, if you write papers, or if you don't be prepared to be graded harshly and have points deducted every time you do a paper for her. Weekly quizzes, you'll have to write two page SINGLE spaced papers as well as discussions and group discussions. Also, you need the textbook.
If you don't like writing, this is not the class for you! Doc White is a great professor, but just be sure to brush up on your APA skills before taking this class. A little bit of a tough grader, but she usually gives good feedback to tell you exactly what to fix for the next paper. It is also very easy to reach her about any issues you may have.
Great Teacher
First of all, her and her TA were both a piece of work. Marked off my paper 10-20 points if I even added an extra space. Super disrespectful when I emailed her and she completely disregarded my question and told me to pay attention 5 times throughout. Take her only if shes your very last choice, youll probably regret it either way.
Asked a very clear question received a 6 paragraph response, I was still confused. No response from TA when I emailed to get clarification. Professor is rude and condescending in email communication. Only grade posted were for on line quizzes, no idea what grades were for my papers and what corrections would need for improvement. Beware!!!
I took Dr White's Psychology of Women Class online for Summer Session A. Class consists of quizzes, exams, 2 papers, and 1 discussion. You need the textbook since it mirrors the entire course and the tests. Quiz questions are identical to that of the Exams. I didnt experience any of the "tough grading" on my personal papers as others have mentioned
Horrible! VERY STRICT ON APA FORMAT AND THREATEN PLAGIARISM DAILY! 3 writing assignments, drops lowest one, quizzes and one aggravating group project! TA's are nice but grade strict as well.
Currently in her class, and wow what a mess. Constantly wrong dates on assignments due to being to lazy since the hurricane. Has biased teaching assistants grade her work as she's too busy to do so, can not answer basic questions related to the class. Too much busy work/work that is not needed and does not add any value to the course at all.
Dr. White is a wonderful professor. When you take an Advanced Research Methods class, you should expect the course to be challenging because it is an advanced course!! Anyone dissing Dr. White is only doing so because they don't know how to follow directions properly and/or do not belong in an advanced research course.
This class will make u work, it is called advanced for a reason. she tends to grade everyone to different standards and expects us to be okay with that. Advice: don't mention running out of time bc she will mention that during lecture, if u are a busy person don't take this class, and take this the semester right after research methods in psych.
Quizzes can be confusing, but textbook usually has the answers. Her formatting for papers is two pages, single spaced, no titles, title pages, etc. She basically threw APA out the window. Every week you basically have a quiz and a paper or a discussion. Discussions are a little shorter than the papers. Instructions can be a little confusing.
This lady made sure we had an essay due every weekend ! APA style is so picky. The quizzes are cake ,but your grade comes from her essays.
Solid professor, but she's a stickler for APA style. Have the APA manual handy and reference it for EVERYTHING. Group research project. Class starts out slow (who doesn't know the scientific method by now?), advanced stats and methods in the second half of the class. Think you've elaborated enough? She wants you to elaborate more.
Provides more than enough information on the syllabus and everything about the class on webcourses so you never are left guessing. Highly understanding and always willing to give guidance for things off the syllabus. There's a lot of assignments which ends up being a good thing since losing a couple points here and there never ends up hurting you.
Dr. White taught my cross-cultural psychology class in spring 2020, and it was one of my favorites! We only had 6/7 required meetings since it was mixed mode, I was sad they got cut short by the coronavirus. Read the chapters and quizzes will be super easy. She was awesome, friendly, and accommodating. Highly recommend :)
If you're good at writing papers, I highly recommend Professor White. The TA grades all papers which are worth the majority of the final grade. There's a ton of extra credit offered and the quiz and test questions are straight from the book. They are timed, though, so it's difficult to look up answers if you haven't read the chapters.
You have many quizzes each module and you must read the textbook, since most the questions on the tests stem from the textbook. There is a bunch of paper you have to write with strict criteria but, if written correctly, you will get a good grade. She gives out tons of extra credit opportunities, so take it!
The majority of the class grade were based on papers, so beware of that if that's not your strong suit. Other than that, class was pretty easy, just didn't think she went above and beyond as a professor. Easy A if you put in the work.
Very hardworking teacher, but assignments and grading are over-explained to the point where it's made more complicated then it needs to be. Then if you ask for clarification you get a rude response back. Interesting class tho
Psychology of Prejudice itself is a great class but Dr. White ruins it because we have so many papers about technical prejudicial terms but there are no real discussions about prejudice between the classmates. The format of the papers are weird and she grades harshly on that.
Quiz due every week and a writing assignment ever other week. Quizzes/tests are on quizlet! The exams are literally a repetition of the questions on the quizzes. I don't follow the whole rubric on the essays but still get A's or B's on them. she also drops the lowest essay grade. Currently have a 94. Easy class but a lot of writing..
So theres a lot of papers but theyre really easy, if you do APA correctly, and answer each question as its own prompt, youll get an A. there wasnt any grading on grammar really. tests are easy as well, exams use the quiz questions. her syllabus is a bit excessive but since its online n i had no issues, i never interacted with her so
I think that this course is not as bad as some might think. Every week there is a quiz and every other week there is a 2 page, single spaced APA style essay due. That might not seem appealing, but the subject itself is very interesting and makes reading the book and answering the essay prompts not hard at all and you learn a lot about society.
Worst professor ever. Shes very snarky and rude and doesnt grade her papers. Instead she has her TAs grade them and they dont even read the papers either. I wouldve rather taken this class taught by someone else who actually cares.
Dr. Whites class had by far been the dumbest class Ive taken at UCF in any major. The quizzes and tests are easy, however the class is out of a ton of points, many of which are useless filler assignments. Both Dr. White and her TAs will find any minor detail to dock hundreds of points off papers for. Honestly could not recommend a professor less.
If writing is not your forte, do not take her. There are 3 discussions (one of them is done as a group), 3 papers and she drops the lowest. Quizzes and exams are timed but answers can be found in the book. She can be very picky with the way she wants APA and always double-check whenever TAs grade bc they make mistakes.
I regret taking classes with this Professor. I took the class online but truly think Professor White should pay the TA's to do her work for her. She doesn't grade the work you turn in. If you have to choose a class, don't choose this one. Do yourself the favor.
Dr. White is a fine teacher and every week you do the same thing so you know what to expect, but be prepared to write a two paged, single spaced paper every two weeks. I like to write so I do not mind the papers, but might not be for everyone. Every week there is a quiz that goes with a chapter of the book also. Just work hard and you'll survive.
Took 2 classes with her that were supposed to be easy A's well they weren't, both classes same format with many papers due that had to be singled space and apa format yet no matter how many ways I wrote and cited the sources I always got points taken off because the TA's grade them (terribly might I add), the teacher's no help, stressful overall.
If you want a lot of stress and a crying session every day, just take classes with this professor and it's guaranteed!
I regret taking class with this professor, the test are ok, its the papers I have a problem with, I like to write but the grading is ridiculous. She has the TA's marking your papers, they give no points for effort, one error, one mistake, anything missing, you get a 0, its like setting you up to fail. I never knew a class could be this stressing.
The exams are ok however when it comes to the writing assignments, it is hard to get a good grace. TA's take-out points for absolutely everything, no matter how much you work for a good grace it is never perfect. Also, I really dislike the group portion.
Most of this class was spent reading boring chapters and writing papers that were required to be 2 pages, single spaced. If you didn't follow the rubric word-for-word, the TA's would take off so many points, often dropping you a whole letter grade for minor errors. Avoid unless you want to write 1000+ words about forensic psych almost every week.
The quizzes and exams are fine, it is the papers that are ridiculous. She has her TA's grade the papers and they take-off points for ANYTHING. I am someone who cares about my grades and I am careful in how I do my assignments. But this class is impossible and stressful, rather than learning the material you are stuck worrying about unfair grading.
taking her for the 3rd time now. she IS strict on writing assignments but if you follow the very detailed instructions she gives, it's hard to do poorly on them. plus, she drops one paper. i haven't gotten points off on a single paper this semester. you just have to pay attention. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! no one ever does it, then cries shes unfair.
Professor White is a terrible professor. She does not have a role at UCF or any other activities she participates in. The more Professor Whites in the world, the darker this world will be. I took her class two years ago & that is when I transferred from UCF to USF. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Go Bulls!
I have never written one of these before but this is me telling you to NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH GRACE WHITE. This class was absolutely ridiculous, with 6 writing assignments that take up almost 80% of your grade. The issue is that she flings around 0s for "plagiarism" with absolutely no problem at all. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from her.
id take any other class twice before having her as a prof. again. convoluted course arrangement; ridiculous writing criteria; offers extra credit but not for students who realize they need it more so for the ones who plan to do it either way. by the time you need the points, it's too late. textbook-style syllabus; no regard for student's day-to-day
This class is the definition of a HEADACHE. There are so many papers and they're graded so harshly. You spend so much time trying not to get a 0 for plagiarism that you don't even learn anything. If you're not good at writing papers then do yourself a favor and avoid her. And do the extra credit!!!
The TAs she has working for her grade all of your papers and take off points for every small detail. Your papers are worth most of your grade and you will get a zero if you dont cite correctly. Youre so busy stressing that youre citing correctly that you dont learn anything.
prof White is the most least caring professor I have ever had. she finds the tiniest little things in your paper that she doesnt like and will give you a 0 for the whole thing no matter how long the paper is and how hard you worked on it. she is not understanding and seems to really just have no remorse for any of her students. avoid this prof!
This class as with all of Dr. Whites is extremely paper heavy. There is about 6 papers. Quiz/test grades hardly affect your grade. Extra credit opportunity worth a paper grade and the lowest paper is dropped. Easy enough to pass although not a super fun class.
Class has weekly quizzes which are easy (basically just vocabulary) and biweekly 2-3 page papers. The papers require you to read the textbook. They aren't necessarily hard just time-consuming. Textbook can be found online for free. Overall, take a decent amount of time on the papers and use your resources for the quizzes and you'll get an A.
I actually took SOP3004 (Social Psychology) as an external restricted elective, and wow I shouldn't have. This class was way too much for me. The reading assignments were lengthy and Dr. White assigns a tedious paper every two weeks with requirements and guidelines that stretch a mile. The information is interesting, but the workload is terrible.
I've never felt the urge to rate a professor so low in my life. She's extremely rude and makes the course so incredibly complicated for no reason. There's an absurd amount of homework and super long writing assignments that serve no real point besides taking up a massive amount of time. Avoid White's courses at all costs.
As long as you read the rubric and actually answer what the writing prompts are asking you, you'll get at least a 90% on the papers. I don't understand why the paper averages were in the 60s. She details everything she is expecting to see in the papers. TA's are not tough graders. Don't be scared to take this class if you're a good student/writer.
BE PREPARED TO WRITE!!! VERY TOUGH GRADER!!!! Even though this is an online class, we still have to complete group assignments that are graded harshly. Exams and tests are only worth 15 points whereas the writing is like 200 points. the syllabus is like 300 pages long.
Professor White is very unprofessional, she never allows me to retake an assignment or paper even though is a day late she gives no accommodation to anything, everytime I messege her about a question her responce is "IS ON THE SYLLABUS" I can feel her annoyance in her messege like your the professor your not payed to sit around and do nothing.
Unnecessarily long syllabus and instructions that causes more confusion than it does clarity on how to approach assignments. She basically responded to my group assignment concern with "should've started sooner" as if I don't have a work life outside of class. Essays are single spaced and ONE missed citation is 50 points off the grade. Terrible.
Very lengthy and unnecessary syllabus. A professor that does not care at all so don't even try to email her about anything or to make any exception. I hope I don't ever have to take any more of her classes, I definitely would not recommend her.
the syllabus was longer than my will to live. i just started the course and am so afraid of what is to come
This professor begins the semester with an obnoxious syllabus and outlandish APA assignments that determine a letter grade for you. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. Please pick anyone else.
Writing papers is not how I learn, so I probably won't be learning anything in this class.
Get ready to write your life away. This is the most difficult class that I have ever taken strictly due to the fact that all she does is make you write papers (SINGLE SPACED) and I learn absolutely nothing. If you don't cite correctly...forget about it. Avoid this professor!!!!!!
Grace whites class is nothing but a joke. She never interacted with any of my papers and only let her TAs grade and comment and I kid you not one of the TAs literally told me I had a textbook that never existed it was in Graces SYLLABUS. A total joke and waste of time. Horribly tough grader and a complete joke. Avoid at all costs!!!!
Writing assignments account for 80% of your grade, and the grading on these is HARSH. I'd never gotten below an 85 on writing assignments before her, and now that I'm in my final semester with years of experience in writing quality academic papers, all of a sudden my papers are 55-65/100. If you're not a PERFECT writer, don't take her.
This professor is not helpful in the slightest there is too much reading and writing for an elective class first off the syllabus was too long which is crazy the papers were too difficult she was way too strict with grading claims that you must follow APA, but essays have to be singled spaced instead of double spaced. Do no take this class
I took this class as an elective and I truly wish I didn't. The syllabus is unnecessarily long, I couldn't find the information I was looking for even if I tried. Her weekly quizzes are worth 4.5 pts and her biweekly papers are worth 160 pts. I am an A student and just received a 71% on a paper I thought I did well on. Unbelievably tough grading.
This professor is... awful. Terribly rough grader whose class is 80% writing assignment based. Psychology is my second major and, coming from harder STEM classes, is usually cake, but this teacher makes it ridiculous. She gives a lot of extra credit, but avoid her at all costs.
Dr. White is the harshest grader I've dealt with throughout my college career. I took her for Psychology of Prejudice and Psychology of Women's Health. Her writing assignments are abundant and the grading criteria are rigid to a fault. Also was terrible during Hurricane Ian and advised me to withdraw, rather than granting me more extended time.
Please do not take this professor! I had PSY3204C with her, and it was an absolute nightmare, there were about 4 assignments per week; two quizzes, a lab, and a homework assignment. Not only the class has a complete overload of work, but the instructions given are hard, as well as the grading policy. There is however, extra credit available
This professor and TAs grade harder than I've ever experienced. Not great feedback either. I failed two out of three writing assignments so far. I've never done poorly in writing and am pretty upset. Please be aware if taking classes with this professor. They use APA differently in this class than other ones, so follow their guidelines perfectly.
THIS IS THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER! I did not read her reviews before taking her and now I repent so much for not doing this. I wasted so much time on this class. Please don't take her, don't make her waste your time either. TA's grade the papers which are 80% of the grade and she doesn't care about her students at all! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!
I work full time and have a chronic illness. She was not understanding at all and when I met to speak with her about my grade. She admitted her TA's grade extremely harshly and she doesn't agree with the way they grade yet continues to use them. She recommended I withdraw and when asked the consequence of withdrawal she couldn't even tell me. 0/10
Grading criteria on writing assignments (majority of the class) have ridiculously large point deductions for minor mistakes. TAs are just doing their job, but there's no room for error if you want the A. You're absolutely set up for failure. If you have a problem with this, just withdraw: she'll tell you as much herself. SERIOUSLY, DON'T TAKE HER.
Horrible response times, super heavy work load, and super strict grading. By far the hardest class ive taken. would never use this professor again
The worst professor I have had in my life. Avoid her at absolutely ALL costs! She and her TA's are such harsh graders to the point that they want you to fail. If you cite something in the works cited page but don't use an in-text citation, even if everything else on the paper if perfect you will get a 0/144 and have a D in the class. She's insane
Dr. White does not teach anything. She links web-based resources and uses the textbook and its accompanying workbook. She and her GTAs are extremely tough graders, and the rubric is unforgiving. We've had to teach ourselves. She also lacks compassion/empathy; refused to give more than a 2-day extension after 2 hurricanes and a UCF IT-system outage.
I had no other choice but to withdraw from this class. grading is extremely harsh. This class is not supposed to be this hard. the instructions for assignments are left to your own interpretation. You will learn with trial and error, which sucks because she will deduct points like crazy. If you have a rough start, good luck trying to climb back up.
Grace White is the worst professor I have ever had. She does not care about you, she doesn't accept anything less than perfection and no late work even if you die she will still fail you. Mean. Takes away points for things not even listed. IDK who hurt her but she is taking all her sucky life out on us.
Take a different professor. She uses SPSS for all assignments so it takes a bit to understand how to use it. The lab/hw/quizzes are due wed/Sunday. Quizzes are not proctored. She is a very very very hard grader. Take your time with the assignments and READ HER FEED BACK. She is not good at explaining things at all, I would avoid taking her class.
The math class I took isn't on here but this entire grading system that is used is beyond ridiculous. Cite every single math question, even when an answer is just a number. Points off for missing a space in citation after the page number. Issues with every assignment b/c citations. Save yourself a heart attack from stress and DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!
She uses this god awful program called SPSS that crashes constantly and makes you re-enter every single piece of data. TAs do the grading and they will remove points for anything. Even putting an extra space on accident. Occasional huge assignments you will spend 3hrs doing. Horrible class. She should not be allowed to treat students this way.
This is by far one of the worse classes I've ever taken, the grading is ridiculous, and points are taken off if a period is in the wrong spot. She does not respond to emails, different TAs grade everything, and there is no consistency. I've asked questions about assignments and homework but the TAs don't respond leaving your grade to suffer.
Grades nothing herself, no good feedback or help. If u ask for help she just says re read. Group projects where u r deducted for other people not helping. Given 0's even w/ name on it due to only one member allowed to submit and "lack of proof of participation". Contradicts herself often w/ policies as well as using the tools given
TA's grade off the 2 page single spaced papers she makes you write. And they will try their HARDEST for you to fail. Taking off points for every tiny ridiculous thing for no reason. Lost so many points on papers for things like using pg instead of p in my citation, a period in the wrong place, titling my page sources instead of references. AVOID!!!
Fast paced course that moves at the pace of a hybrid, and you should treat it as such whether you take it hybrid or full term. I earned a B in this course and was able to pass, but I cannot say that it was done with much assistance or help learning SPSS or really anything else. TAs grade everything, and weren't helpful. Never spoke to professor.
One of the worst online course layouts I've ever seen. Confusing about how to get assignments submitted correctly and what she is asking for. Along with this she is insanely strict on APA formatting and will dock points for any small mistake.
Professor would not answer direct questions. really tough grader. teacher assistants are not great either, they will take points off for small things.
If you care about a 4.0 GPA, don't take this teacher. If you have a full-time job, don't take this teacher. If you hate unclear and unbelievably strict grading requirements, don't take this teacher. If you want an accommodating and understanding teacher in case of emergencies, don't take this teacher.
I will be taking her for a second time. Professor White is a tough grader but she gives out lots of extra credit. She also gives very detailed instructions as to what to do on assignments and how to not get points taken off. If you do the reading and develop a good understanding of the APA format, you should pass the class with flying colors!
Do not take this professor. She makes everything complicated with no need. She likes to make everything hard when she could just give simple instructions. So time-consuming.
Avoid, unhelpful & unfair grading expectations.
Disrespectful to students. Makes you feel little.
This Professor is terrible. She does not provide any tools to practice. It is very learn on your own. There are no lectures, power points, or any tools to succeed. She is not made for online classes. Avoid her at all possible costs. I wish I would have listened from previous ratings. Horrible experience.
Grade consists of 6 long writing assignments (3 two-page single-spaced papers, 2 group discussions, and 1 regular "post then respond" discussion), a quiz on feedback/grade of writing assignments, and reading quiz every week. TAs are strict on grading. Module pages are difficult to navigate and could be organized better. Interesting content though.
the way she organizes her syllabus and modules makes 0 sense and it is hard to find information or clear instructions, sometimes the info in her syllabus does not match the modules. if you email for clarification or for a question, she is demeaning and doesn't answer properly. you just read the textbook and have papers which her TA's grade instead
confusing, demeaning, and doesn't teach. you read the textbook and complete overly complicated papers. material isn't difficult but her instructions make simplistic assigns. hard to follow. grading is inconsistent, major points are taken off for incorrect APA (the format she asks for is not APA either). due dates are contradictory. just bad.
Terrible. Very strict instructions and requirements for her own version of APA that does not follow the standard guidelines. Avoid taking classes with this Professor at all costs. So much writing, very tough graders. Never spoke with the professor, her TAs grade all the work. Very very strict. Cannot emphasize this enough.
this is the 1st course ever that i considered withdrawing from. terrible and aggravating instructions. professor is rude and unhelpful. grading is inconsistent yet strict. material is interesting but not worth the stress. i was genuinely excited for this class but choosing this professor was the worst decision i've ever made. save yourself.
I will be honest, this class is easy OTHER THAN the APA references stuff. I received a 106/144 and lost all of the points because I didn't include the references for two tv shows that were discussed for one of the group writing assignments. I hated this class overall, it was easy for me to write, but hard to deal with bad grading.
Is not honest on syllabus. Will say that citation page is worth 16 points but will give you a 0 on the whole paper if anything is done wrong on the citation paper.
Your grade in this class is purely based off papers. The whole class, she's been referencing one specific edition of the textbook, only for me to find out while trying to write one of the eight or so papers in her class that we as students don't have access to the edition she's been referencing. Very strict grading, especially on APA form.

TAs are very strict on grading. Module pages difficult to navigate and could be organized better. Interesting content though.
While I finished with a decent grade from all the extra credit, by no means was it an easy A. By the end of the course I had written 7/8 LONG essays for an online course. These are graded extremely difficult and makeup almost the entirety of your grade. You also will be stuck doing online group projects which are difficult to collaborate on.
Worst professor ever. Despite the content not being hard, I had to drop the course because she kept taking off significant amount of points for stuff that is NOT on the rubric. I asked for help multiple times but she does not even take the time to fully read emails before responding. Canvas page is extremely hard to navigate too.
Dr. White is a great professor, but it really depends on what your TA is like. There are 7 essays total, all are very manageable, but it seemed like some of the TA's were easier graders than others. There is one quiz per week but as long as you've read the material you should be fine. As long as you put in the work for this course, it is manageable
The absolute busiest class I have ever taken. Grading is ridiculous, so many papers that you literally won't even have time to go and try to request a grade adjustment for a previous paper. An absolute headache of a class, please go with literally anybody else. On average 4 writing-heavy assignments are due every week!!
This class felt like busy work the entire time. We had to do a ton of individual assignments that pertained to the group project, whilst still having to submit a ton of assignments for the group project itself.
An awful course taught by a professor who is using her spot at the university to get research funding and does not care about her students. Zero standardization, based on grades given, the TAs don't even know what she wants. Don't bother reaching out, you'll be ridiculed and told to reference the contradicting APA sites that don't explain anything.
This was an online class so in my opinion there should have not been a group project. Not only that there is a lot of writing and the professor lacks the ability to give feedback in an efficiently written manner. She is vague, and provides little examples for the kind of work she's expecting. She is very stingy when it comes to APA.
This class was more of an annoyance than difficult. It is a writing based class and she is a very hard graded. She gives zeros on citations for simply misplacing a period. There is a group project for this class and since it is online that can be very difficult. The extra credit is a plus for this class as she offers a whole letter grade of credit
There is extra credit, the only positive thing in this class. Her feedback is vague and you could've included everything she mentioned but she still takes points off and if you question she does not give an explanation. The research paper is a group project and we did 20 pages and got a C. I don't write reviews but it is necessary.
Worst professor I've ever had. She teaches NOTHING. Her TAs grade all your work and she never responds to emails. You are given a monotone textbook to teach yourself. She posts snippets videos of other people explaining concepts n it's so ineffective. You teach yourself and learn nothing. Not a single lecture or example shown. It's absurd. Drop!
Tough class with lots of writing assignments. Professor is strict on grading, but unstuck ai helped with study prep. Extra credit and manageable difficulty level made it worthwhile.
I honestly loved this online course with Dr. White. The rubrics for the papers we had to write were clear, and the feedback received really showed where I went wrong and where I did well. Also, Dr. White herself is very kind and always responds to emails/questions in a timely manner. I have absolutely no complaints about this class.
This course honestly doesn't require a ton of effort. There are weekly quizzes that you get weeks to take, 3 unproctored exams, and 2 papers that make up the grade. The papers took around 2 hours each and don't have to be great to get a goos score as long as the citations were done correctly. I didn't even need to do the extra credit
Take the bad reviews lightly. White is a great professor if you put in the work + READ the detailed instructions she provides for each assignment. The course + the work were interesting. This can be an easy grade if you stay on top of things. She gives great feedback + is willing to help if you reach out to her. Don't let the bad reviews deter you.
I've taken a class with Professor White before, so I enrolled in another. I didn't know she reused APA Tutorials from previous courses. The submission was stuck on the old date of the prior semester, even after I did it again and received a new grade. she accused me of cheating, gave me a zero, and refused to change it despite my explanation.
I needed to retake the APA and plagiarism courses from the previous semester, but, it wouldn't let me. I tried explaining it to her and she luckily listened. There's alot of reading but it's all easy material to understand. The exams are word for word like the quizzes with a few different questions here and there. Overall, pretty good professor.
No recorded lectures or notes. TA's grade everything (I've had to have both of my writing assignments regraded over stupid stuff). Went to her office hours for the full time by myself and she didn't help. She is condescending because she is a"dr". Only way I got an A was with extra credit but I shouldn't have to if things were graded right
This professor weighs you down with to much information and unnecessary assignments. I took her for an online class and navigating through the web course was difficult because it was like traveling through a maze.
SHE FALSELY ACCUSED OF OF CHEATING TO THE POINT THAT I HAD TO CONSULT WITH A LAWYER IN ACADEMIC LAW (im applying to Ivy PhDs this year, almost ruined my career). I'd give her negative stars if I could. Was rude, didn't teach, and had TAs do all of the work for her. Grace - you made my life hell for WEEKS. Truly, i wish you the worst in life
She uses ai for everything. My class has actually found ai portions she forgot to take out of rubrics and assignment steps.
This class is an online class but bad. There is a reading assignment due every Wednesday where you cite the textbook in APA, graded strictly. Test weight has almost no value, primarily writing assignments. If you miss the 6 page essay due on week 2-3, you immediately drop to a B. As someone with BPD, this class stressed me more than helped me learn
So many long papers and portfolios, extremely strict on APA format use, even if you put your whole effort into an assignment she will grade it a 50%. Feedback is EXTREMELY critical and every single assignment has a very specific rubric. only + about this class is no proctored test and lots of extra credit opportunities. Would not recommend at all.
The syllabus was extremely difficult to understand and navigate, no matter how much you followed the assignment instructions she will always find something wrong with your paper and take points off. There is also lots of unnecessary assignments that have nothing to do with anything.
