Class is difficult and she is hard to find outside of class. Not very helpful when you are having difficulty in the class.
teacher is not hot like someone claimed. She is very informative as long as you cooperate. You have to pay attention or you will fall behind. Quizes can be challenging and midterms she allows you to use 3 x 5 notecards for each MT. Lots of homework but it helps a lot. Just pay attention and do what she says and you'll do fine.
Ms. Cochran is from Argentina, so if you have to take her humor into consideration. She has an accent so if you're not a spanish speaker it can be hard to understand her. She will always do problems if you ask her in class. She moves fast and you have to take good notes. Exams are a challenge, and she gives a lot of homework.
The book is the better teacher than she is. She has a very poor quality of teaching. DO NOT take her class.
she is a horrible teacher. she doesn't explain things clearly. she thinks she's so funny it's annoying. she talks back to students and is very rude. she makes learning math a nightmare especially if you already disliked math. she's a horrible teacher. dont take her class.
Prof. Cochran is one of the best profs I've ever had. I now actually understand algebra for the 1st time in my life. Don't be shy in this class - you have to ask when you don't get it. If you have problems, talk to her. She acts tough, and doesn't take any crap, but if you're really making the effort, she's totally fair, and she'll help you 100%
Prof. Cochran is very helpful, and you will do well if you attend her classes and pay attention. Quizzes can be challenging.
Her accent is difficult to understand. It is almost impossible to find her during office hours, not very helpful. If you are good at guessing, you will do ok since all tests are multiple choice. But what's the point of taking a class if you want to understand? Not a good choice for an instructor if you must understand the material for your career.
i think she is a great teacher and funny. she is kind of hard to understand but is still a great teacher!
DONT TAKE! Unless you are gifted in math. Math book doesnt explain material very clearly. She's difficult to understand and isnt very helpful. She doesnt respond to her emails nor voicemails. She's stubborn and makes fun of students. IF your good in math you'll do fine. If your not look elsewhere. I highly dont reccommend this teacher. She's awful
I took with her for math11a. She is very orgainized, her lectures are to the point and enjoyable. If you don't understand info. you need to ask her, she is there to help students succeed, due to that I also took her for Math13. She is the first math teacher who has opened my eyes in math.
Ms. Cochran really wants you to succeed and tries to keep us motivated and interested through humor and practical applications. Need to do your homework or will fall behind. Plus she's super hot to look at!
She is very funny. Her accent isn't all that bad. If you do the homework you'll pretty much get it and her quizzes and test. Some of her teaching methods are all right but she still is a good teacher non-the-less.
Multiple choice tests all the way. So you can do well even if you do not quite understand the material. For passing the class, it is not such a bad idea. For learning the material...well, it may not happen.
very fast paced class. Hard to follow plus it is almost impossible to find her outside of class.
she is a good teacher. it's really not a hard class
Goes too fast in some topics. She is difficult to find to ask questions outside of class.
ok teacher...but she does not seem to care in one way or another.
I took Calc with her. Calc is not an easy subject, but i worked hard, attended all lectures, did all HW and got good grade. She is available during the office hours and answers questions during the class. I enjoyed her teaching style too, very alive, not boring like some other math'ers. Highly recommend.
the instructor goes over subject manner super fast and if you fall behind, you get left behind. Comes late quite a bit, so expect it if you're her first class. Has awful mood swings and blames the whole class for being noisy when she knows for a fact its the same people talking, yet she doesn't split them up. We were deprivedofquiz/lecture for th
If you really wanna pass Math 13 go take it over at DeAnza and register for Math 114 and take Mr. Abb Jr. He's kind, patient and makes it very easy for you to understand unlike SJCC profs who cant teach. Guaranteed Pass. Avoid SJCC Math Profs who can't teach. DA has lots of knowledgable tutors unlike SJCC where they only have few. Read his reviews
Finite math is transferable so Cochran is direct & to the point. Even thought total semester was compressed into 3 weeks,I still learned a lot. She reviews fair amount of homework if asked. Accent easy to understand & she is humorous in class which makes math enjoyable. If you want to really learn & not be bored to death, you should take her class.
I took a three week finite math course with this teacher this winter. I would recommend that class to anyone. She is a good teacher. Her teaching style is very straight forward.
take this class if you want a good grade and to learn! dont be intimidated, she just has a strong personality but she does a great job in trying to get all of her students on passing with flying colors!
shes not as bad as everyone makes her out to seem shes strict but still funny at the same. you really can learn alot from her. she gives a great amount of homework so i wouldnt recomand taking her class wtih other hard classes. if you want to learn take her!
I took her for Math 11, 13 and 63. I would highly recommend her, alot of homework and has a tendency to go fast, just ask her to slow down and she will. I totally hated all math before her. Ms. Cochran made math interesting for me again. I suck in math but I EARNED an A in all 3 of her class. Also multiple choice quizzes and final, very helpful.
Ms. Cochran is an excellent teacher, she plans out each lesson very well and is extra willing to help out students who are confused during class & office hours & she books tutors for the class. im horrible at math and she built confidence in my math skills. she does give a lot of homework and tests but she is worth it!
She is an awesome teacher. I really struggle with math and she really took the time to help me. She learns everyones name and really gets to know you. I enjoyed going to her class. She gives ALOT of homework, but she is an easy grader and just wants you to learn the material.
Here's the deal about this teacher, she doesn't explain the lesson well, she just explains from the textbook(might as well look @ the texbook).. Excuses absences when sick, and get to use 4x6 index card front and back for midterm! This is REAL!
She's a very good teacher! From Argentina, came to America several years ago with a degree in math, so she knows her stuff. She's very lenient on attendance, as long as you e-mail her that you're not gonna make or something. She's very reasonable, as well, when it comes to quizes, tests, and homework. I recommend taking her class!
Ms Cochrane is a great teacher.. goes a little fast but she is very helpful and repeats whatever is needed, all u have to do is ask. She is available during the week on yahoo messenger which is awesome, almost like having a personal tutor. She also makes time for her students during her breaks.!!
Ms Cochrane is a great teacher.. goes a little fast but she is very helpful and repeats whatever is needed, all u have to do is ask. She is available during the week on yahoo messenger which is awesome, almost like having a personal tutor. She also makes time for her students during her breaks.!!
Took her for math11a.Here's the deal, if you catch on quicly you'll do fine. for those that need slow, detailed instruction DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.She'll leave you behind. Most of the time I found the textbook more helpful.Advantages...she grades on a curve, you can be late, and she'll excuse most reasonable absences, you can make up failed quizzes.
she was the worst teacher I ever had. The notes for the day would be on the board and we were expected to copy them when we got there. She would show up about 10-15min late and quickly go over the notes then assign classwork out of the book. she gives hours of homework every week and none of it is ever gone over or checked.
Cochrane is a fabulous teacher for students who actually want to learn. She shows up about 10 min late to class because she has office hours between classes and helps her students. She DOES NOT tolerate cell phone use in her class, so don't bring them. And if you sit in the back and goof off she will kick you out, she is there to teach.
If you work hard, you will enjoy this class. She assigns a lot of homework. She is very organized; that is, she'll make announcements ahead of time. She has a review day before each major exam. Also, she prepares you for each exam by sending you a review packet. And, most importantly, she has a great sense of humor. I'm taking her next semester.
Great instructor, she truly wants her students to succeed. It would be a mistake not to take her class.
She's a very organized Professor, extremely helpful to her students and prepares everyone in upcoming tests. She really wants her students learn the material and pass. She gives consideration in any absences, late hw submissions and missed test/quizzes.A very strict professor in class but fun to be with after class.TAKER HER CLASS! it'll be worth it!:)
HERE IS THE REAL DEAL..IF YOU DON'T REALLY GET ALGEBRA, THIS CLASS WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT. SHE KNOWS HER STUFF, BUT GOES QUICKLY. SHE GIVES AN INSANE AMOUNT OF HW. REVIEW GIVEN FOR MIDTERM AND FINAL AND ALLOWS NOTE CARDS. WILL EXCUSE ABSENCES. IF YOU WANT TO PASS, DO MOST OF HW, ALL QUIZZES, AND PASS FINAL. SHE IS A LITTLE SNAPPY & MOODY AT TIMES.
GREAT PROFESSOR!! I took the same clas two times at De Anza and got a D both times. I took Ms. Cochran and got an A on the final B in the class!!! She is a great teacher and wants you to learn the material. HIGHLY recommend her!! Best teacher EVER!!
The deal: She assigns TONS of hw that you must turn in if you want to pass the class, let alone learn the material. When teaching she does short cuts in her head which leave you in a the dark. If you ask her to explain, she will. The best part of the class is her reviews, DO THEM and you will pass the class! I DID and I HATE MATH! :)
I love Prof. Cochran!! I have struggled with algebra for ever and ever...She made sure that I understood what was going on. The note cards for exams is helpful also. Passed all the tests, did the homework and got a B!! I highly recommend her!!
I have taken Algebra before and got an F. Most teacher's do not allow calculators, or 4X6 note card and want you to show all work on all test, midterms and final. Ms. Cochran allows these. She also gives you a review packet before all quizes and midterms and final and those are a a God send. Take her and you WILL pass.
Lots of HW, and pretty strict. But she can be fun, and she's really good at the Math, so if you pay attention and take notes, you'll do fine. All quizes and tests are scantron. If nothing else, you'll actually learn how to do Algebra.
I took her for math 11a got an A now taking math 13a with her again. It's not final yet, but I will get an A. I love that she put out extra effort to make detail study guides for us. I print it, do it, learn it and most likely I will get an A.
I TOOK MS COCHRAN FOR MATH11 AND MATH 13 BOTH CLASSES I MY FINAL GRADE WAS B. IF MATH IS HARD FOR YOU, TRUST ME, THIS IS THE ONLY TEACHER FOR YOU. SHE GOES FAST IN CLASS, BUT OTHER THAN THAT SHE IS SOOOO HELPFUL. SHE LETS YOU HAVE A 4X6 CARD FOR MIDTERMS AND FINAL. SHE WILL LET THE CLASS RETAKE MIDTERMS IF THE MAJORITY OF CLASS DID BADLY.BEST TEACH
This was the last class needed for my degree and I took it during Spring Intersession. Everyone told me that Ms. Cochran was the only good Stats instructor so I took her class and was not disappointed. Highly recommend.
She is really cool. Def love her!! The only thing is that she will put you on blast if you keep talking while lecture. I took her for Math 11 and again this semester for math13. ohh but she gives a lot of homework because she actually cares about her students not like other teachers!
Easy class. The exam reviews are similar to the exams. If you could do the reviews without a problem, you will get an A on the real exams. She is a good professor, but very strict. Homework is not bad. Always do your reading! and you will be fine. If you cant understand it, read it again until you do.
She makes the tests and exams very clear. If you can do her example test and quizzes you will do well on the tests. Just stay on top of the homework and you'll be fine.It may seem like a lot of homework, but it really prepares you for exams. Very good teacher.
The subject is easy and Cochran makes it easier with note cards, study guides that are copies of the test, and curving test. The down sides are her bad attitude for most the semester till half the students drop, gives tons of hw that don't count unless you turn in the whole packets, & teaches too fast. My advice, read the textbook & follow examples
Cochran gives A LOT of homework! she teaches way to FAST! The only good thing i liked about was her tests.. She gives out a study guide which is very similar to the tests.
While the work is reasonable and the material is understandable, her quiz/test policy isn't fully clear, both in the syllabus and spoken. Also, she doesn't explain the lessons really well.
Exelente Profesor. She is a geat teacher. I have struggled with algebra. But taking the class with her was the best decision. She really wants her students laern the material and pass. I REALLY RECOMEND HER. SHE IS AWESOME.
She is a really good and intelligent teacher, but sometimes she'll go a little too fast when she goes over lessons. As long as you tell her to slow down, she understands immediately and will slow down for you. She also has a great personality, and sense of humor. Her class is the ONLY class i look forward in going out of my whole schedule.
She has a cute personality, but she is extremely fast paced and doesn't explain well.
I worked hard but it was worth it
I can honestly say that I hated math prior to having Mrs.Cochran as an instructor. Mrs.Cochran made math fun. Her teaching skills got me from Math 11-Statistics. I will DEFFINATELY recommend her to other students/friends.
All you need to pass the class is to study the study guides and know how to do every problem in it!! She has them online and I can officially say you will pass her class with an A if you know how to do every problem on her study guide Of course!!! She's not that helpful explaining stuff on the class, but don't worry all you need is to know the S.G
this class is easy all you need do to is do all the homework and study the study guides she posts online if you do that you will not fail this class
Everyone says that this clad is hard etc. But believe me I am the worst person in math and its the hardest class I have ever took and recieved an A suprisingly. As long as you study your butt of and learn the problems am sure you'll pass the class. I have a 6month old baby and did it so am sure everyone else can.
she seems hard at first, all she cares about is you trying on your hmwrk, study for tests, she gives you plenty of opportunities to do well. She can be very understanding about absences when important. very anti electronics. so if you cant put down the phone done take her. I think shes an awesome teacher!
I took a condensed version of Math 13 during summer. She has very strict policies for her courses and she's not afraid to get snappy with students. With that she really cares and wants all her students to pass. She goes out of her way to make sure they'll pass. She's very helpful all you have to do is ask. I'd take a math course from her again.
If you are not prepared to study, the combination class of trig and precalc is not for you. There is A LOT the teacher has to go over and there are a lot of quizzes. However she explains the lessons pretty well and wants to make sure you understand. She gives a review very similar to the test, and always curves the grades low. She's Very nice too!
I took statistic intersession. The class was pretty easy a lot of As. She is not very good at explaining the material concept; she can be rude at time. She was late almost every day. She can picky at time. Overall take her if you want an A but you gotta teacher yourself if you want to learn.
She is a great teacher, but if you take her classes, expect to work hard! There is a lot of homework, but I am grateful for what I've learned and know the study habits I've acquired will be extremely helpful as I finish school. She really wants her students to succeed and will help you if you ask!
she is great i took math 113 and she was so nice and helpful she makes sure that you learn the material.
she is an ok teacher. if you attend class and you take notes you do fine. she has study guides if you study them and know how to do them you do fine in all her class took her for stat and the class before that got an A.
While her class is not super hard or majorly loaded with work, she tends to arrive late and reenters after breaks late as well. She doesn't explain steps very well and unless you ask her how you won't know. If math is not your strong suit be prepared to either take a different prof. or have a tutor!!!
Great teacher! Be involved in class, ask questions follow along on lectures take notes and use study packets and you will get an A. Helpful when you ask just stay on top of your work.
Impressed. Ms. Cochran sets it up so if you try, it is impossible to fail. Online homework grades itself so you can retry each problem and has read it, watch it and practice it options for each problem. Also in-class tutour is a great amenity. If you need an extension, she does her best to accomodate. I will be taking all math classes with her.
Just a bad teacher. Sorry.
Ms Cochran is the consummate professor able to handle mathematics questions both simple and advanced. If there was a better mathematics professor, I was not able to find one in the SF Bay Area
If you don't like doing homework, don't take her. But other than that, super easy class and teacher. She shows you how to do everything on the calculator, she's easy to approach if you have questions, she curves exams, she allows an index card during exams. Her lecture is easy to follow and her homework adds additional easy points to your grade
super easy class and teacher. easy to approach, curves exams, allows calculators and has tutorials in class, allows an index card during exams. lecture is easy to follow. Lots of homework, but it only adds more points if you stay on top of it and it's an easy A.
Professor Cochran is amazing. If you are struggling in math, please take her class. The way she teaches trigonometry will make it so much easier and realistic. She is very helpful, if you need help, just ask. She doesn't like it when students cheat. BTW please do the practice packets. They are a life saver and super useful!
Taking Professor Cochran's precalculus and trigonometry was pretty easy and interesting. Yes, there will be a lot of tough stuff, but if you take her class its going to be easier because she'll teach you it differently than other professors. Take all her notes, and do all the practice packet then you should get an A. Best math professor at SJCC.
Teacher was always willing to help you understand the subject. Math is about life learning problems and memorizing formulas help you move forward onto other areas of life. She also taught life lessons. Who moved my cheese was a book she recommend that you read.
Professor Cochran is AMAZING. She's super understanding. I love how she has her own methods of teaching trigonometry & polar coordinates etc. If you can understand her own method then you don't have to get stuck. If you listen and participate in class , do the practice packet, and assigned homework, you can easily get an A or a B.
Professor Cochran is Amazing. I have a learning disability and she was more than understanding. She is by far the best Math teacher I have ever had and I absolutely HATE math. She is a very loving teacher and will fight for your success!
I hate math, but this class has allowed me to get an A because she has some study guides that are helpful. It's a pretty easy A.
Pretty solid teacher. Took statistics during spring intersession and I must say, taking a stats class in 4 weeks is hard. Somehow I was able to cope with multiple tests in a week but it was partly due to the tests being similar to the previous ones only building further on the new stuff you learn.
Math has always been a subject I don't do well in. Graciela Cochran is a professor that truly cares about the progress of her students and will encourage students to pull through her course. Cochran sets students up with everything they need in order to succeed but it is up to the student to earn the grade :)
I had her for pre-calculus and statistics over winter intersession. She gives a lot of homework. She also gives out quiz reviews and midterm reviews, you should definitely study those because on the tests it will pretty much be the same. You will get an A if you attend class, do your homework, and put in a little bit of effort.
Best math professor ever from someone who hates math and is horrible understanding concepts. Pick her, you won't regret it!
If you study the reviews before the tests, you will surely do well.
Math is hard for a lot of people. Period. She is a great teacher. She has office hours she keeps, gives reviews that have the exact problems that the test will have, and she will go over ANY problem - even if she has done it 3 times already. Do the homework, go to class, and use the tutor in the SI department, and you will pass.
I'm so glad I took Math 25 with Mrs. Cochran! Everything is just so simple and organized with her. She always lines out clearly what to expect from tests and makes reviews that are just like the exam itself. The class is a lot of work but it's a great shot at an A and you'll learn everything you need plus more!
She doesn't give testsquizzes back so you won't know which problems you need to work on. she'll show you what you got on testsquizzes and you have to write them down to calculate what you have in the class so far. Doesn't really explain anything. Just solves problems on the board and asks if we got it...
Mrs. C is a woman of her word. I failed this course before at another school and Mrs. C took the time to work with me and make certain I understood the material. LOVE HER, as long as you show up, finish the homework and pass the final YOU WILL PASS GUARANTEED!!!
She is a great teacher with convenient office hours. You MUST pass this class and if you struggle at all she is your only chance. Her reviews are EXACTLY like tests - no surprises. Do the home work, come to class and participate, master every review and you will get an A. Tip: No cell phones. and don't buy the book if ebooks work for you.
Great teacher that cares if you pass. Take her back to back so you will already know her reviews, quizzes, and tests.
Just passed the last of my math classes for my degree! If you struggle in math you MUST take her! No better teacher. Uses my math lab - comes with ebook.
The best teach I have ever taken! She truly just wants you to pass. Expect a good amount of homework but the biggest stress is participation. Participate and she will go above and beyond to get you to pass. I definitely recommend her.
She is a teacher that expects students to work hard as she does. If you do not have time to study, you should not take this class.
Professor Cochran cares about your grades, and you will get an easy A as long as you attend class and do her reviews. She has a great sense of humor and you won't be bored in her class.
I took her for algebra II and followed her to summer school stats, and I just got a message from a student that DID not follow her to stats and is extremely disappointed 6 weeks in to her stats class with someone else. She is the best math teacher you could ever take, she is a wealth of knowledge, and actually CARES what you need to be successful.
Do the reviews, stay in the class, youll always pass with a C avergae. She wont fail you as long as you "try". Her lectures are everywhere, calendar is everywhere. Probably the worst math teacher ive ever had.I'm a math major and was beyond annoyed with her teaching. Pass her and pray if you have to take calculus 71 after.
She is an awesome instructor. She gives you the reviews and you get to have notes for your midterms and finals. I would definitely take her again. I HATE math, but I got an A in her summer stats class.
If you are good at math this class is an easy A if you do your homework and go to class. If you are AWFUL at math like me, and took 9 classes before her you WILL pass. She will help you when others won't, and she will explain until you understand. TIP: Keep your name on your desk and you are eligible for easy extra credit problems on the board.
She is a great teacher who is amazing at math. If you go to her office she will show you what problem you got wrong, and show you how to solve it the easiest way. Do her reviews and you will get great grades on her tests, do the homework and go to class and you will get a great grade.
best teacher i have ever taken for any class - i wish she taught everything.
Amazing teacher/class! As long as you show up and pay attention your'e good! I have taken this math course before and I failed it. Take her and you wont regret it. She doesn't expect you to be confident with the material but she is always willing to help you get there. Do the reviews, really similar to the problems on the test! Hard work pays off.
Great teacher with a great teaching style who knows the material exceptionally well - and CAN EXPLAIN IT!!
Graciela is one of the best professors in the Bay Area. She is genuine and fun to be around with! :) I love that she considers herself as a resource to help us succeed. I've got an A in her class for my optimism towards my hard work and my motivation: that lies in the hands of my idol. Be confident in doing problems on the board for extra credit.
She's a fantastic professor, I WISH I could have taken her for Cal-1 and Cal-2. Her lectures are AMAZING - if you take notes of everything in her lecture, you will have the most beautiful notes which will rival the textbook in usefulness! Her quizzes and exams are based on the HW, and HW counts towards grade. Best math prof hands down. Webassign.
If you take this teacher AND you have to take Cal 1 with her... Pray, A LOT. She does not teach you 1/2 of what you need to know in Cal 1. If you want a teacher to just pass you for sympathy, She is your teacher! Horrible lectures, horrible use of class time.
Ms. Cochran is an excellent professor. Math is definitely not my forte, but Cochran went out of her way to help me along with my classmates who struggle with math. She would hold very helpful study sessions on weekends before exams. Cochran cares about her students and wants to see them all succeed. I highly recommend her! Do the practice tests!
Math sucks and Professor Cochran knows that. Take her. You will pass.
She is a very good Prof. She definitely cares about her students. Everything is in reviews, so if you put effort, you will get an easy A. Other than that, she has office hours and she is willing to help you with math problem. However, she barely arrives on time, which I really don't like about her. But anyway, I highly recommend you take her class.
Lacks organization and comprehension of the subject. She goes way too fast and expects everyone to understand at a first glance. When asked to clarify something she usually just over complicates it and states, "Ummm let's move on." She's frequently late and unprepared. She says attendance is mandatory, yet everything is posted online.
She is a GREAT teacher and knows her material back and forth. If you struggle with math she is the professor to take. She has office hours if you really struggle, and she gives exact examples on the board for extra credit. Follow her all the way and it gets easier as you go. A really great math teacher.
Professor Chochran was the best math teacher I have ever had -- and I have had six at the college level. She knows ALL math, not just the class you are in, which makes her amazing because she knows math process above and below what she is teaching.
Clear expectations, clear grading structure, and clear examples.
She is an excellent teacher. You will get a great grade if you follow her instructions. She has great office hours and never turns a student away. Best teacher I've had at SJCC.
BESTTT MATH TEACHER EVERRRRRR! Honestly if you're given the chance to take her do it. She is caring about all her students and wants everyone to do really well. Put it in the hrs on the study guide and hwk and you'll do excellent .
She is good professor. She doesn't explain very well, but her test and quiz are very easy. However, she answers to any question and cars about students.
She is fun, caring, and teaches thoroughly. Her class is easy if you have 100% attendance and keep up with the online hwk on a day to day basis. I really like her teaching style, so I will take math 25 with her in the fall. She is a little sassy, but just the right amount. She's caring and understanding if you're falling behind. Just talk to her :)
she doesn't know how to teach. She is just bad.
I've struggled with Calculus for years. I tried 2 times at Foothill and couldn't pass. Finally I decided to make the switch to SJCC for math and let me tell you, the math department here is so helpful! Ms. Cochran understood that I simply didn't understand concepts. She takes her time to work through problems and wont leave your question unanswered
I took her class on last Spring 2017/ math 013. She is a greatest teacher. Trust me, she is very very nice
Great teacher, If you show up to class, show respect and do the work you will pass. She takes time to review before quizzes and goes over work if you ask.
I really like the teacher and recommend to take her class.
Had Prof. Cochran for Pre Calc/Trig. She puts a lot of time into writing reviews of each chapter so they are tailored to the quizzes and exams, as well as provides a key for many of the reviews. She assigns a lot of HW and it is important to stay caught up with that, but she prepares you well for continuing to Calculus. Great teacher, tough class.
I think she is a great teacher, very caring, wants all of her students to pass, but she has a lot of homework. All of her quizzes and tests are multiple choice. If you do the study guide and understand the material you are good to go. Quizzes, midterms, and finals are easy, just what you learn in class. Definitely, recommend this teacher.
Took her for Math13 in Fall 17 & Math25 in SpringInter 18. Get ready to put in alot of work, she gives alot of homework, but they're manageable. Do the reviews! They reflect on her quizzes and tests, all multiple choice. She allows a cheat sheet on her tests. She's a great professor, but she goes fast that I had to teach myself and got an A.
She doesn't work with her students . No retakes for quizzes. She uses scantron for her exam so no partial credits . Lots of homework ! Main thing is she doesn't know how to teach. This is a teach yourself class. She avoids your questions and doesn't try to help
Not good at teaching material. Lectures consist of copying messy notes off the board. She goes way too fast and doesn't explain concepts in a concise and clear manner. LOTS of homework online, and "classwork" that isn't even done in class which she makes her students grade for her. Talks to students like they're in middle school. Not recommended.
Do yourself a favor and take this class with another professor. I may as well have taken an online course. She is very poor at explaining and lectures are extremely boring! This is a teach yourself class, get ready to read your textbook like the Bible if you want to pass. She is also FREQUENTLY late for class, and talks down to her students.
Grading wise, she is the best. Multiple choice Midterms and Final Exam are taken directly from the homework but different numbers. If you know how to do the homework, you would excel in the test. However, she is not very articulate and she is not very organized. I had to get outside help to do the homeworks.
She really cares about her students. She gives many chances for extra credit. When the quizes or midterm test s' grade are low, she allows students whose grade is below 70 to retake. The quizzes and tests are the same to her review but different numbers, so just do the reviews carefully and you will get A easily.
Ask you to put your cellphone next to the wall, write your name and put it in front of you. She is not a teacher. She comes late 15 minutes and leaves 30 mins early. Take 30 minutes break. Cancel class too frequently and ask you to still go to class and "sign the attendance sheet". Doesn't answer your questions. Gives a lot of hw.
I didnt have a good experience in her class. She knows her material but moves on too fast. Homework is a lot but for calculus class but I think is necessary to practice. I personally learn more when I practice. Study hard or you wont pass. Not recommend her.
She is very overwhelming professor. She doesn't teach or doesn't know how to teach. Scantron for all quizzes and tests (no chances for partial credit) . She doesn't like to answer questions. comes late and leaves early. Prof is just rude sometimes and doesn't have teaching etiquette. self-teaching class.
I wish I read the reviews before took her class. She knows her stuff but it looks like she doesnt want to be in class. The class is not welcoming and she doesnt like to answer questions. Sometimes during break she is more friendly. I do not recommend her. You will need extra help to attend this class.
PLEASE AVOID TAKING HER CLASS! Unless you are a math genius. Be ready to teach yourself because her lectures are not clear and she skips steps when working out problems. I have to rely on Youtube to understand concepts better. One good thing about this class is you are put in to groups so you will have support from your classmates.
This is one of the worst math professor I have ever had. She does not know how to teach math at all. She will turn her back and write as she talks and will not care if you understand or not. She does not answer questions either. I had to watch so much youtube videos just to be able to keep up with the information. THIS IS A SELF TAUGHT CLASS.
The class itself for math 21 was not hard as it is a stepping stone, helps when everyone lost and ask question. The class was a review of basic algebra, algebra 2, and some geo. Mostly rely on textbook questions, but if you show up and do the work, take your time to pass. She curves the grade for everyone to pass, giving practice test/quiz to study
Professor Cochran is a great professor that knows her stuff. That being said, this class is EXTREMELY fast paced and difficult. Hard to keep up. Midterms 40% of grade, final is 30% of grade.
Only take her if you are good with self-study because she literally teaches nothing in class. She just wrote things from her prepared papers to the board. She also gave us tons of homework on canvas and webassign but never solved them probably when we asked. Stay away!
Professor Cochran cares about her students. If you keep up with homework she will let you re take tests. She lectures every single lesson, not just online power points. Very complete notes. Homework is not bad at all. You just do a few for full credit. Best study guides, similar to tests. She goes over every single problem and then posts the keys
Calculus is not easy, and I am not great in math, but her detailed lectures and reviews helped me get a B. Homework is OK. If quizzes or midterms grades are low, she allows students whose grade is below 70 to retake. The quizzes and tests are the same to her reviews but different numbers, so no surprises. Take her if math is hard for you.
I took math 13, 25, and 72 with her. Great teaching style. She puts you in groups, gives clear and complete lectures with many examples, then she has special reviews before tests and quizzes. Participate, do the reviews, pass. Highly recommend.
Clear explanations and reviews (similar to tests), super nice. She wants you to pass and will go out of her way to help you. She is late at times, but usually because she is helping students who can't make office hours. Are you a bad test taker? talk to her and she will try to help with that.
AWFUL instructor. Definitely runs through the material with little to no explanation. She once asked the class if they understood (which was surprising to me), only two guys said they got it and she said good and pressed on. She also forbid to give us our midterms unless we learned a brand new CHAPTER in the first hour of class. DO NOT TAKE!!!
I found her class to be pretty easy but just didn't study enough to get an A. I thought her teaching style was helpful and I definitely feel prepared for Calc now
Avoid unless she's your last option. Required to pay $100 for homework, no exceptions, rushes through or poorly explains lecture material, and regularly uses different term names for the same thing. This class is self taught but you are still required to attend lecture.
Doesnt really teach. You will end up looking youtube videos for the chapter. Expect you to do great in hws. Ask students to put their phone on the wall (what?). Goes through the chapter really fast. If you ask a question while she is teaching it, she will answer, otherwise she refuse to do so and blame you for not asking it before. Avoid her.
I had her before for precalculus where she curved. She didn't curve at all know this an pandemic, not having available office hours. Will never take class here again. Everything is your fault, and nothing is hers.
I took Math 25 with Prof. Cochran and the class was pretty easy. She cares about the students and always puts out reviews that have almost the exact same questions on the test. So, if you do the reviews, then you will prob do well on the test. She sometimes is late to class, but it honestly just gives me more time to get there and not miss anything
I went into this class after not taking math for 2 years and had also seen the ratings on here, so I was a little nervous coming in. The material was hard, but Prof. Cochran would always take time to make sure I understood what I was doing. She really cares about the students, and I really appreciated the detailed lectures and test reviews.
Do not take her she goes way too fast and is very rude sometimes. Attendance matters to her even though her lectures are hard to understand and your better off teaching yourself. One time she came into class yelling at us to have respect for her because we were talking too loud. What?! Are we in high school? She wanted us to get along >:(
This professor is horrible, she doesnt know how to teach and shes very rude. She doesnt have patience with her students. Her lectures are absolutely pointless because you have to teach yourself, she doesnt stop for anyone in the middle of lecture, even if you have a question shell just ignore you. She doesnt answer emails, very unprofessional
Professor Graciela is the best professor I have taken for MATH-022. She makes sure you understand the lecture and ask her question either from review or notes. Attend her office hours if you need more help. Do her review over and over again and you will receive an A. Her exams and quizzes include chapter reviews, very helpful I must say.
I do not grade my professors during COVID forced remote classes that were supposed to be in-person, I do give credit to Professor Cochran for making things work better than expected. I have a lot of math ahead of me and I greatly valued her expansive knowledge of math theory and math education theory. Don't expect easy, expect to learn much.
She is very rude to student. She doesnt answer questions from previous lectures and tells you why you didnt ask it then. Constantly late and doesn't bother to answer to email. You have to teach yourself because she cant teach and doesnt answer your questions.
She has no teaching skills. There is a lot of homework like any other math classes but the difference is she is pretty angry all the time. As other mentioned it, she has problem with time. Comes late to class and leaves early and cover the same amount of the lecture in that short period of time. Avoid her, she is pretty terrible.
Prof Cochran knows her subject well and is a quick teacher. Don't hesitate to stop her and ask questions if you do not understand something. She wants you to pass, you just have to ask for help. Attending her office hours was a big help. She gives you extensive study sheets for each ch, but those are the questions she asks on the tests, verbatim.
Make sure you submit all the homework weekly, not much around 4-8 pages but grade it yourself accurately because the profs will not grade it. Grading yourself as Review. If you don't know what you doing wrong, too bad, give yourself 50% points for each homework, and you will be fine. Grade more than what you deserve will make you academic honesty
One of the worst professors I have ever had and not just because the teaching is bad . She is very petty and rude, will embarrass you in front of the whole class if you ask questions, and does not care about her students whatsoever. Never records her lectures or gives us resources to use outside the classroom besides the textbook.
I had taken Math 013 a few semesters ago with Prof Cochran. I personally felt like we the students were automatically not trusted; (i.e. told to leave our phones at her desk, told not to speak unless spoken to, and discouraged from doing group work because we might cheat, etc.). Also, questions and emails were never answered at all!
She does not explain math. She read the book on camera. This is not teaching. Would recommend if you are willing to hate math for the rest of your life.
Her online course isn't worth it. Her tests are proctored with very strict settings that will kick you out from the test and she won't let you back in if your computer has a problem. We contacted the dean about it, but she hasn't changed her settings for Proctorio. You are better off with taking in-person with a different professor for this course.
Do not recommend Ms. Cochran as a math professor. She does not like the subject she teaches. Lectures confusing, questions unwelcome. Got B only because watched millions of youtube videos on topics she failed to explain.
Even though math is easy for me, this teacher ruined it. SHe didn't explain things herself and posted videos that were awful and very hard to understand. She also required us to get the book which is the worst written math book I've ever had to learn by, and all the hw was online and it was a lot of it. Don't ever take her.
Just left videos for us and didn't really do much, the videos weren't even helpful
The absolute worst class I have ever taken. The textbook we had to buy was terribly written and didn't correlate to the tests at all. The class itself is poorly structured and disorganized. She makes zero effort to teach. Be prepared to spend hours on the homework and teach yourself calculus. If you think it can't be that bad, think again.
Professor Cochran's asynchronous class for Calculus 2 was very good. She does not teach calculus, but I used online videos to get by. All the tests are proctored, but its easy to study for them because she provides a review that looks just like the test, with the work attached. She responds to emails fast, grading is clear.Overall,9/10 experience.
Graciela Cochran does not teach anything. The videos she post on canvas are linked to a random man who is teaching everything on YouTube. All of the test are online and multiple choice (you need to submit your work). The class is easy to pass if you are willing to teach yourself from YouTube. If you don"t have a strong math background avoid Cochran
This is the best calc 2 class you can take, she's a really good professor, she cares about students and she always responds to emails, I would take this class again she is the best!!
I would never retake her course.
I would not recommend taking this professor. She is extremely rude and refuses to answer questions during or after class. Her textbooks are old and expensive, and she doesn't seem to have a great understanding of the material she teaches. If you can, take any other available professor or wait until you can.
Ms. Graciela Cochran has really bad communication. The averages on quizzes and tests were so low. I highly recommend taking a different teacher if you want a good grade. Also, many kids were dropping this class after the first midterm
Professor Cochran is extremely intelligent, and during her office hours on a one on one basis she is extremely kind and patient and fair. However, I felt like her class as a whole was very difficult. Her tests were very difficult and asking questions during lectures was difficult. I took her for an online course so maybe its different in person.
Professor was knowledgable and provided practice tests but not all had the answer key. Provided notes to print out and follow along with online lectures. Online lectures were long but informative. There is a quiz after every section with two midterms and final. Utilize resources such as tutoring and office hours if you need help.
Run while you can. Lots of homework and her midterms are so different than the quizzes. If you are not great at studying and learning math on your own. You will likely get a C in this course. Her test questions are very hard. And the average was very low on most tests. Take a different professor if you can.
If you struggle with self-teaching and are a slow learner, this is not the class for you. Unless you know 90% of the content beforehand, prepare for hours of studying and doing hw. Overall, it was an easy class for me but I know many who struggle. I definitely recommend taking it with a friend so you can help each other.
A heavy workload with lots of homework. Would have taken a different professor if I had known. Test and quiz averages are always low
My A is because I already knew the content. She micro manages EVERYTHING and makes the class much more difficult than it is. Be ready to be treated like middle schoolers. Insane amount of work each week, though it was in summer, still. Handwritten notes required. Would never take again, happy to get rid of it.
Avoid this class at all costs. The professor provides poor instruction, terrible textbooks, and overwhelming online homework. Thankfully, tools like unstuck ai can help you self-study and survive this challenging course.
I've taken this professor many times in the past: tough grader but curves grades based on class average, beware of DUE dates. She requires all handwritten notes to be submitted immediately after quizzes, texts and exams. I completed a midterm but failed to submit work- earned a 0. Class should be easy if you have “resources”.
Her class is easy if you check your calendar regularly and follow instructions thoroughly. You have to send pictures of your hand-written work taken with CamScanner. She was nice when I contacted her asking for help.
She a awful professor, it seems like she is teaching herself not the students. If you view her online classes you will be shocked that she will teach you calculus. She would write something and next moment she would erase it and write another thing, it happens a lot, maybe 20 times in a single lecture. She is not sure what she is teaching about.
Worst professor, her knowledge about calculus is less than the class 10th teacher.Avoid her class, you won't be able to learn a thing, sure you can pass the class but there won't be any outcome of taking this class.Once I learned that I didn't learn anything from her class I didn't continue the class.
All the five stars reviews are fake or are from favored students.I took the course and she is the worst instructor I ever had, do not waste your time taking her class.
I wouldn't recommend her to anyone, you will be better off taking it at a different college with better professors. She is unresponsive to emails and assignments have no clear instructions and you will get a 0. The class only relies on self-studying and watching YouTube videos to learn the material, no resources or teaching is given from her
Took her online class. Grade is mainly based on tests and quizzes, but they're MCQ and easy IMO, but I'm good at math. Gotta submit work for them, she does not give extensions on the webassign work, but she does for discussions and lecture notes, but your grade mainly depends on tests and quizzes. I personally liked her a lot. Lectures are optional
this teacher was too difficult, never replied to emails when we needed help (ignored not even replying late), not understandig students struggles at aLl
don't expect lectures-just youtube videos. tests are hard and nothing like the review-around 75% of your grade is by exams. very poor scheduling and incredibly harsh pacing(eg. just finishing up the last unit the day before the final). don't take unless you have calc 2 experience or are retaking the course.
Doesn't respond to messages. Difficult to get a hold of. Isn't very lenient so good luck if you find yourself making mistakes during the semester.
It's very difficult. She is too strict. I personally don't like her teaching styles.
Hardest professor I've ever taken. I took her online, no questions allowed during the lecture because she records it, and she goes very fast. Exams are MCQ, but you must show your work for them still, NO partial credit. Practice exams are like 30-50 questions, only a couple will be similar to the exam. It's an all-or-nothing type of grading.
I took her Math-072 in Fall 2025. Personally, I don't like study online, so my review is subjected to bias. Toward the end of the semester, she has a day of lecture and a day of test. In this way, I feel like 1/2 of my class time is for testing. Sad
The only reason I received a C in this class was because I've always struggled with math. Teacher is great, lectures well, there is a lot of homework but it's Calc 2, so what do you expect? Rounded my grade despite being far off from passing. Very lenient if you negotiate with her. Exams are like her study guides so study a lot!!
