Excellent teacher - very interesting - enthusiastic!

Grady Eades is the best thing that has ever happened to me. A great instrustor, fun person and not bad to look at.

Before taking his class, I really did not care about History. He made this subject so much fun! He really made it come alive! His class is highly recommended! He's also cute, so it really makes you want to pay attention!

i hate sitting through a history class but eades keeps it interesting becuase he ties it in with current events that you actually have an opinion on or an interest in. i actually history in his class as opposed to just taking notes in previous history courses. still got your peppers eades!!!

He's a great teacher, really enthusiastic about his course. Definitely made the class fun... and related it so well to us. I'd recommend him to anyone else. Wish he taught more classes; I'd take him again.

He is one of the best teachers I have ever had, in all my 16 years of being schooled. Not only does he explain everything clearly, he is also very funny. He's a nice guy to be around, a guy you can really like.

i love mr. eades. he was the best teacher i had besides dr. topping. his class is very interesting and you don't get bored. the test are easy. THERE ARE NONE!! the exams are take home and they are a littl edifficult but easy. he looks like tom green.

One of the best teachers ever! He is a perfect blend of enthusiasm, humor, and seriousness. You must be prepared to read and write 1 page essays weekly, but its all based on critical analysis. So as long as your willing to read and think, there is no 'wrong' answer. I am sad that my degree only requires 2 history classes. Would gladly take again!

Mr. Eades is awesome... what other teacher will use the idea of a 40 foot**** screen to drive something home. Very funny, once you get used to his personality. Lots of readings and small essays... if your a poor student who scrapes by... drop out! If your a good student wo actually does ALL of the assignments... don't skip Eades! Best on campus.

Mr. Eades is very structured. This helps because you know what's due every week. He doesnt use the book. He gives you a paper to read and a 10 question quiz online once a week. He's very helpful & helps you think ideas through. He's a great teacher. I hated history before his class and he makes it very interesting! The final is an essay on a movie!

Mr. Eades is one of the most thought provoking professors I have ever had. There were times when I wanted to strangle him and times when I utterly agreed with him. He requires you to do some homework, but it is well worth it in the end.

Mr. Eades was an awesome teacher! You don't need a textbook. The readings come from two different books which he gives you the chapters on MyVolstateOnline. He makes learning History fun and interesting. He genuinely seems like he cares for his students and wants them to suceed. There's no reason anyone should fail his class. Take him!

I normally hate history, but he taught in a way that made me love it! You do have to write a paper a week, but you never have tests. All you have is a quiz a week that you get to do at home with your notes, and you get to retake it the next day after he goes over the lesson. Easiest history class ever. I absolutely loved it!

Mr. Eades is the best history teacher I had at Vol State. Although it's been a few years since I graduated, I still run into current Vol State students and recommend them to take his class. He is thought provoking, interesting and lots of FUN!!

This is by far the best professor at Volstate! He is intelligent and witty, his humor is a bit dry if you're not familiar with it but i find him entertaining. Don't expect it to be easy though because it won't be! He provides a comedic and relaxed atmosphere while introducing you to the beauty of the subject.

My God! This man makes you do more work than you could imagine.You have weekly quizzes... have to read 13 pages from his journal, have to do write a paper every week about an argument that makes no sense at all, and you also have a 20 page midterm and final paper YOU HAVE to do. I will skip out on taking him for anything else.

This guy is really funny and always willing to help but my GOD the quizzes, mid-term and final can be brutal. Not because they are hard, but because you have to spend 8 hours answering the long stupid questions he comes up with... This guy would be awesome if he would at least cut out the quizzes. lord knows we have enough papers to write...

Mr.Eades is awesome. You do a weekly quiz and 1 pape double spaced paper. It's easier to do the MWF class FYI. You have a midterm and final which are take home. I loved having this class and would take him again!!! He is very helpful as well.

If you are looking for an easy A find a different teacher. If you want to learn a lot this is the teacher for you. His class is HARD! Lots of papers and reading. He has weekly quizes and you have to read the chapters! Some of the readings take everything in you to finish. But he is always willing to help and answer questions.

I highly recommend Mr. Eades. I've had him for both of my American History classes. He is my favorite teacher so far at Volstate, and this is my second year. As long as you pay attention to what he tells you and do it you'll do very well. =) He's interesting and does well at keeping things understandable and fresh for the students.

In a nutshell, Eades is an awesome professor. He combines Volstate's SEEK program with the ASPIRE model throughout the course- no extra QEP projects! The setup is fantastically planned. No boring history books to read. He makes AmHist interesting. It was challenging to get an A, but not impossible. I wasn't expecting to love this class, but I did!

A wonderful teacher. Good communication. Recommended for both the history major, and the history hater. My favorite professor because he relates the content to daily life and makes one question why events happened in history. This class has instilled within me a passion for AmHist that I never knew existed. Take his class, and be prepared to write!

Mr. Eades is the best. History is not my favorite, but I ACTUALLY ENJOYED it. His teaching style is completely different from others. He only gives TWO tests, midterm and a final. And both of them he gave us a list of movies. I dropped my other two history teachers just so I could get into his class. Grades a little tough on papers.

Eades is probably my favorite teacher I have had at Volstate. He constantly has the class laughing and has a wonderful personality. There are no tests and no reading out of a book, but there is a small essay every two weeks with a worksheet. He is a tough grader, but always fair! I can't say enough good about him. You won't regret taking his class!

Eades is so cute and sweet! I only took him for one semester but I wish I could have taken all of his classes. There are no tests in the AmHist 1020 class which is great, but a small 3 page paper every few weeks. He is a pretty tough grader on those, and they aren't the easiest things to write, but ask for help and he will give it to you. Take him!

He is a phenomenal teacher! He lectures in a way that requires students to see the big picture, not all the pesky details that may come with a typical history class. He is there for students, all they have to do is ask. For some, his papers can be difficult. I recommend taking an English class before taking this class to improve writing skills.

I do not understand why Professor Eades has so many bad reviews. I did not make the greatest grade in his class, but that was my fault and he was still one of my favorite professors! He is a pretty difficult teacher but he makes class fun and he really does want you to do good in his class!

Awesome teacher. He spends his time teaching material and making it interesting instead of piling on assignments or homework. Every once in a while youll have a quiz or paper but he does a good job of letting you know exactly what he expects from you to get a good grade. Overall great instructor.

Prof. Eades makes history so relatable to present day. He is an awesome instructor. He is a tough grader but if you are concise, knowledgeable and witty you will receive good grades. Practice writing the reading summaries and time yourself for the 10 minutes before the day of. The midterm and the final were both essays.

Professor Eades is very good at explaining history and making it interesting. The lectures were able to keep my attention. As long as you try on your assignments youll be fine. Most of the assignments were easy and didnt take long to complete. I feel I truly learned the most about history in his class than throughout all of my years in school.

Eades is a great professor. I actually took him twice (HIST 2010 and 2020) and enjoyed both semesters. His humor is great in my opinion. Lectures may get a bit old but there's only so much you can do to present history. He does a good job of keeping it interesting. His explanation of history and use of documents is helpful.

Professor Eades was one of the best professors I've had. I took him for African American history, which was a very serious class, and he was very passionate about the subject. He lectures a lot, but he greatly encourages discussion. There was quite a bit of reading but assignments were pretty easy. Overally I highly, HIGHLY recommend him.

I am not a super fan of history, but with Professor Eades I enjoyed it. He questions you enough to encourage critical thinking. He wants you to see the whole picture and not partial. He puts up more than enough materials for all learners, there are discussion posts and summaries of chapters at end of week. He grades it hard, but gives feedback.

He is a really great professor. I think the thing that makes him great, is that he tries to help as much as possible. I didn't really understand history until I took his class. I would highly recommend it even though it was tough. His fireside chats are awesome. I might be the only one to say that. It's very original.

He is a harsh grader and will tear your assignment apart, but will give you all of the insight you need to get an A. Put in the effort and you'll pass. Watch all his videos. Not only are they entertaining but they really help in your assignments.
