He knows his stuff. The tests are super easy, there's always a study guide. If you show up to class, he'll award points. This class is pretty easy to follow. The text is pretty interesting, and I have learned a lot through the text though not much through the lectures.

Content is difficult if you're not accustomed to sociological text; coming to class was nearly essential for me. Book not essential; they're online but I bought it to keep because it's that good. Brilliant guy, needs to speak up in lecture. Has a TON of personal stories which I liked. Exams easy if you read. Grades easy but is attendance tough.

I online shopped every day for this class. He told us that his 8 year old daughter never got below a b on any test. Granted mine was online and open note. If you need a social science take intro with him. Greatest decision of my entire first semester. Only work is two test which i got a 100 on both and a final and essay. Take it Seriously

Gradys class is literally so easy. Just go to class and you pass. He repeats himself a lot and is generally a bit of a mess, but this class was fun and I learned a lot.

His class was way easier than I thought it would be. Theres a handful of discussion posts and just 3 exams including the final. He hardly had class so I definitely recommend taking this in the morning.

Dr. Lowery is awesome. Class is super laid back and all exams were open note. There were many days when class was cancelled (notified early). This is a super interesting course that is not challenging, which allows students to focus on the given information. I'd take Lowery again if I could.

This class is out of only 100pts. He is a nice person but when we only have 6 assignments it is annoying to be waiting for points to be added to Canvas. We did extra credit in October and the semester is over and it still has not been added. That being said this class was so easy and interesting. Everyone in my class is trying to get him again.

Dr. Grady is a very nice person, unfortunately, this year was not his year and wasn't able to attend class for 1/3 of the time. He's very passionate about his work, but there will be times where it isn't off topic but he will talk about a certain subject for a very long time. There aren't many assignments for his class, which isn't good.

Professor Lowery is a great professor! His introduction to sociology class is pretty easy and the grade consists of attendance, discussion posts, and tests. Your grade really relies on attendance so make sure you go to class. Professor Lowery is very easy to talk to and he is always there to answer questions.

In the spring semester, I had Professor Lowery for 341 and another class. The course material is not hard. He will provide the readings and he will work with you for anything. He has the best interest for anybody who takes their education seriously.

Professor Lowery is a very caring teacher. If you have a question its easier to talk to him after class than email because he does teach other courses, but he will definitely answer the question you have. Somewhat lenient on grading as long as you fit the criteria. Overall, a very nice and great teacher

He is a really laidback and easygoing guy. The exams were usually open note or online and you have really interesting discussions in class. Really all you have to do is show up and pay attention.

If you aren't a sociology major, this class may be difficult because it relies heavily on major terms and theories that aren't taught in this class. Overall, it was a pretty easy class though (as a non-soci major)! Grady was a good prof too! He was very flexible when things started to go crazy towards the end of the semester.

Ijs, intelligence anxiety & Dr. Lowery is brilliant. Period. Hes a bit awkward but I feel all students should come understanding that and being empathetic. He truly cares about the material and what you think about it. This takes time to grade so, be patient. Read as much as you can, show up, and ask questions. His course changed my entire major.

Dr. Lowery is just a super smart guy. Sometimes it can come off as awkward, but he seems invested that we learn which was great. You definitely have to show up to class because of attendance (he takes it randomly) and you need to read before class. Overall though, it was not a super hard class.

There are extremely few assignments in this course. I spent less than one hour, total, the whole semester on work. He explicitly outlines what each question will measure on the exam, so you will not be blind-sighted. He randomly takes attendance, and it can affect your grade. Lectures are fairly monotone. Show up, and you will be PERFECTLY fine.

Professor Grady shows a deep understanding of sociology and teaches in a way that is easy to comprehend and not overwhelming. He cares about his students understanding the material and conducts his class in a way that gives enough work to understand the material but not so much work that you feel overwhelmed.

Professor Lowery was an awesome professor to have. He has an in depth knowledge on sociology, and made it easy to understand for us students. The first few weeks there were no assignments, but after that there will be an assignment each week. The course is very lecture heavy and based off the book, so make sure to get it ahead of time.

I took Dr. Lowery for 2 different courses & I would do it again! The last class I took was theory and if you read from the second textbook it helps out a lot. What we learn actually applies to the real world so pay attention & ask questions. He encourages us ask and critique the readings because after all most of us are sociology majors. Have fun!

I've taken 2 classes with Dr. Lowery and both were very simple, easy to navigate, and deepened my understanding of sociology. Your final grade is determined by just a few assignments but the work is easy and straightforward. He is also a fair grader and gives great feedback. He may go off on the occasional tangent but he really knows his stuff.

I really enjoyed Professor Lowery's class! A lot of sociology students in other classes said that they had a lot of work, but this class was super easy and we never had homework except for an occasional online quiz. The exams were straight forward and he lectured every class while also showing some documentaries. Very easy to pass if you show up!

The lectures were a little boring, but overall a very easy class. He is very knowledgeable about each topic and wants everyone to fully understand them. There are only 2 exams, but you get a study guide he tells you the answers to and one essay, but very simple.

What I really enjoyed was that the content on the study guide actually correlated with the stuff on the exams. He also goes over the study guide with the class and usually tells you what to look for about each topic in the exams. Also, he gives a guideline for the paper which is really easy and clear to follow. Just show up and you should be fine.

This class is an good one to take if you need a sociology class. It is very lecture heavy and attendance is mandatory, but if you do the assignment and try you can finish this class with an A. Professor Lowery is a very down to Earth professor. You can talk to him without feeling judged, and expand on conversations outside of class. He has few assignments, so don't blow them off. His lectures may seem boring at first, but class is what you make of it. If you bring up points and start conversations with him in class, it is so much better

I took it as an elective and the class like most has its ups and downs. However, the class is very easy as long as you pay attention to the lectures and attend class. I would definitely recommend this class as a general elective to take.

Grade is determined by 4 factors: attendance, midterm, paper, final exam, but don't let that scare you. Prof. Lowery goes above and beyond to provide you with the best study sessions prior to both exams, where he tells you everything that is going to be on it and how to answer. Reccomend him to all. I skipped a little too much and still got an A.

Mr. Lowery is definitely worth taking! He redesigned his course having only few opportunities for grades but that is more than enough if you simply come to class and read the textbook. Although attendance is not required you will be lost if you do not attend class. He wants to help in any way and is easily accessible outside class, would recommend!

The best professor if you have to take SOCI 120. Only grades are the mid-term & final exam, one essay, and attendance. You are given 6 excused absences to start the semester. Professor Lowery was very easy to talk with after class about any questions or concerns I had. I would recommend him to anyone!!!

He gives a review before the midterm and final where he goes through each question to make sure everyone is clear on what is on the test. So easy. Mid-term and finals are fully online outside of class. Takes attendance with a question you can answer on Canvas so if you have friends in the class, you can get them to send you the attendance question, so you don't get absent. only had to write one paper all year.

Tests are easy and he makes everything simple BUT YOU NEED TO SHOW UP TO CLASS. There is a weekly attendance quiz that counts for a decent amount of your grade so even though it can be boring show up and get the free points.

There are in-class assignments that are a total of 25% of your grade. He doesn't explicitly tell you when they are, but I always got the "Assignment Created" notification before class.

You have a couple papers, one presentation, and weekly mini reports which are not graded harshly. The material is a bit boring, since it's theory; however, Dr. Lowery makes it interesting. Super easy class! Easy tests very common sense- He isn't trying to trick you. Attendance matters but only when there is a in class assignment. Most of the time there isn't a code for the in class assignment and if there's an in class assignment he usually tells you about it the class before or will send an email. Easy A.

Really solid prof. You do have to come to class, (but that's the case for all gen-eds). As long as you go watch his zoom recordings for the midterms and final, you should be good. Since there is quite a bit of reading, make sure not to procrastinate. As long as you do all of the reading and submit the weekly assignment on time, you should finish the course with an A.

Dr. Lowery can ramble, but his lectures are clear and understandable for how intense the content can be. There is no textbook, but there is a theory book to help understand the readings he posts on canvas. He is very flexible with the writing assignments and makes learning theory interesting while connecting it to today's world.

It is clear that he knows what he's talking about and has spent a long time learning and understanding Sociological Theory. Dr. Lowery was the best professor I've had in the Sociology department so far. He passionately taught theory, and this made me want to come to class even though he didn't really take attendance. He gives a lot of historical context, which I think makes the theories come to life. He just gets the heart of Sociology, so I can't recommend him enough!

Only had Lowery for half the semester cause he replaced my previous terrible sociology teacher but super nice guy. Cares and is knowledgeable about sociology. Organized and knows what he's talking about. One thing is that he lectures like he's constantly out of breath lol but if you can get past that he's a great teacher.

This class was very chill. Attendance is not mandatory but highly encouraged as there are in class activities and group projects. He can be a bit long winded but you can tell that he is really passionate about the material that he teaches and is not biased. He is not a super hard grader and is willing to work with you on things. Great teacher!

He came into my class after the spring recess due to a previous professor having many many issues. He saved our class and had so much on his plate and did an incredible job teaching. He cares about his job and also about the student's he has because he knows we are a stressed generation. Love him!

Dr Lowry replaced our previous 110 professor who got fired. He had to teach through his lunchbreak to take us on. He got stiffed by his department but basically saved all of us since we had no grades in April. He's a phenomenal lecturer and a very intellectual academic. He's also a titans fan so I got along with him on that! Take him he's awesome!

Professor Lowery was great! There are few assignments that have a big impact on your grade. There is a presentation where you have to present in front of the class, but he is very chill about it and gives you everything you will need. He assigns readings that you have to read in order to do an assignment every week.

The course may seem intimidating at first, but he sets it up in a very simple way and is great! The readings can be confusing, but his lectures really help clarify, and he does a great job applying the readings to the real-world which helps with the weekly outline. Showing up to class will make your life 10x easier so just show up and listen.

If you are looking for a super engaging class then I would say not to take this one. However, he is a super nice guy and he clearly cares about his students.
