My favorite professor of all time (this after two masters degrees and an accounting equivalency). Took his courses nearly 25 years ago. He was dedicated to students and an independent thinker who had convictions. I hope he is still like that!

A good teacher teaching a hard subject.

He is a nice teacher, but his tests are hard. When you come to into the class, be prepared to work. This is not an ordinary teacher, he will use your brain. Overall, he is a good teacher.

He is a very good teacher. Most lazy students find his class hard, but if you do what he says you will get a good grade. If you want to be challenged take this class. He in a very wise and interesting man.

He is a good teacher but very hard to understand. He teaches us about work and life. He tries to make his students understand. His tests are hard and it requires work on the student. If you want your brain to be used, take his class. I am taking it now, (Spring 2005). Pray for me!

Enck is an excellent teacher who really cares about his students although tests were a bit off of the wall. I appreciate his kindness and support though. His class is a challenge.

Dr. Enck is really engaging. Hes very passionate about teaching and his class is really interesting. You HAVE to pay attention and do the work that he asks you to do if you want to make a good grade. His tests are hard, but if you want to really enjoy a class then take his!

Dr. Enck is great. He is a scholar!!! So he will not teach you directly from the book verbatim. If you can read and comprehend what you read, you will do great. If you learn the concepts and definitions listed in the book, regardless how his scenarios are on the test, you will past with no problem.

you couldn't ask for more. dr. enck is a brilliant man. his class isn't easy, but just do your work and stay caught up. very interesting subject and he keeps it lively in there.

This class will challenge your brain. There is no traditional note taking. The only thing traditional is the lecture. Write down everything he puts on the board and read everything he tells you. Everything he says will be on the board aand the labs are really useless, but do them anyway.

Dont take this class, you will for ever wonder if your going to fail or pass. His lectures are hard to understand, he sometimes sings which will make you wonder WHY!!!!!!DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Enck's class is very heavy on the lab assignments. If you miss one, you're screwed. So be sure to keep up with them! He is flexible on lab times though. Read thoroughly and take good notes. If you study properly and do the work, the exams are easy. He's also very entertaining, interesting, and sweet. He sings a lot

Doesnt care about attendance, emails EVERYTHING so dont even show up. Tests are HARD! but its open book...grades on a bad curve (93-100=a) no hw, long lectures, really great person...but soo boring. His noted on the board dont help AT ALL.

Yes, his class is difficult and you have to do the work, but he is highly accessible and is happy to clarify any questions. A great "teacher!"

Open note & book tests. Still need to read chapters & all emails because no time to hunt for answer @ test time. Have to know where answer is even if don't exactly know it. Teaches class like an upper division class. Gives a lot of useful life information.

Dr. Enck is very helpful although his class is hard! His test are tricky you must study in order to pass! Take notes and do the extra credit it helps!

I was honored to have had Dr. Enck as a graduate prof. He had a profound impact on my life. He would agree that he is somewhat of a "dinosaur," but I think he is one of the last, great professors who teaches students to actually THINK. He is not hard, as long as you apply yourself. If you value knowledge and respect wisdom, take him.

Dr. Enck seems easy at first, but don't let his cheerful singing and dancing fool you. If you want to do well, you really must go to class and do the assignments. Plan to do a lot of studying, but he makes the subject so interesting and applicable. I thought he was a great professor, and he was very helpful and always ready for a discussion.

I found this class to be very difficult. Half of the class dropped after the first test. It was worth it! I loved Professor Enck! He is one of the best teachers I had if you are willing to work.

One of the best Teachers I ever had. He is hard, but only because there is so much material to learn.

Dr. Enck can give great lectures, it's obvious he's very deeply involved in his field. Major problem though is the massive amount of work he offloads onto students. There are only 4 graded items including the final, with no indication between each grade of how you're doing. This semester only 13 of his 85+ students passed any given exam.

I just don't understand everyone. Everyone in college seems to all think it's about your GPA so they drop this class in an instant. But if they stayed they would learn it's about challenging yourself, not taking the easy way out. He is a true teacher and is doing his job by challenging us to the maximum :-)

Dr Enck is a GREAT professor if you are a good student. What is difficult is that he tests your UNDERSTANDING of the concepts and priciples, not the definitions. Take the concept maps he provides,complete the fill-in-the-blank narratives he provides, and READ the book and you will pass easily. Don't read and you will fail, it is that simple!

His class is not easy but it is worth it! He is so sweet! We had open book tests! If you ever have a problem in anything, life or his class just go to him at he will talk to you!

Enck is amazing. He makes it extremely clear exactly what will be on the test, and his tests are open book. He covers TONS of materials, so you MUST read it to know what's going on during the test. His lectures teach you more about life and yourself than actual "sociology." I believe that makes him more of a teacher than any other I've had.

I absolutely loved him, his enthusiasm, and the class, but I was told by many intelligent people to drop the class immediately. After taking a couple of his tests, I understood why. The materials he goes over in class have nothing to do with the materials on the tests.

He is a WONDERFUL professor!If you have the opp. to take this man and don't you will be missing out on something special!He isn't a breeze this is true, but if you study you will do fine.He has a wonderful sense of humor and truly loves what he does.He cares about his students & is SO FUNNY!If you need a letter of recomendation he will help you.

Let me begin by saying that the point of college is not to get an easy A. Dr. Enck is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His lectures were always so awesome, and his emails are all you need to pass the class. Just study as he tells you to in the syllabus and you will do fine. Even though the tests are open book, you HAVE HAVE HAVE to study!

Professor Enck is pretty misunderstood by most people who take his class. those who have a hard time passing are those that sleep, skip, and focus on what they're doing after class. He was a teacher with great insight. Wise and very aware of how the world works. A Yale educated old school scholar. you can benefit by listening to him. worth it.

Lovely, old man. He's very understnading. His personality is how all professors should be. BUT, class is hard and boring. The way he teaches is very confusing. He is smart and knows what he teaches about but still confusing to us. Many people dropped, BUT he's very very helpful. ONLY take him if your major is Sociology.

I never would have passed Graduate Statistics without the guidance and help of this entertaining and brilliant professor. I highly recommend taking his classes. And, get to know him. He is very friendly and approachable. You will be glad you did.

Hands down the smartest professor I have ever had. His class completely changed my world. Do not take this class for an easy A, you will not find it here. If you treat college like it is high school, this class is not for you. That being said, Enck is an amazing person who wants you to succeed but expects you to "take charge of your own learning".

very good professor. he's really funny and makes jokes every class. The quizzes were all easy and online. The test were a different story, half would be easy and the other half was foreign unless you reaf the textbook word for word. He was also very easy to get in contact with if you were to have any problems.

Professor Enck really cares about his students and only wants to see everyone pass. All the quizzes are online & he puts all the assignments you'll need to know on eCourseware. This is just like any college class so you will have to put effort in to get the grade you want. The text book was free & online. He lets the class out early half the time.

You don't have to take notes since he puts everything on eCourseware, and if you study all of it, the exams are not hard. He lectures every class, which can be boring at times. There are 3 lab assignments, 3 exams (one is the final), and an online quiz over every chapter. Each exam has 2 parts; part 2 gives you a chance to have points added back.

Professor Enck is the best! He lectures the entire class which can be boring but if you listen and take notes it is so easy. Everything he puts on the board will be on the test so just study that. He also gives a part 2 of the exam which allows you to get points added back! He is very nice and understanding. Wish i could take more classes by him!

To pass his course: show up to class and do your work. You could honestly skip a few classes and still get an A bc that's what I did. He is clear on what the test is on. All you have to do is memorize concept maps. People complain because you cannot find his in-class exams on Quizlet. Recommend if you're willing to study. Also, free textbook online

its only my first day but he do be kinda funny doe. he talks about random stuff that make no sense or go no where, this is great for my adhd. haha. vibe check overall- cool

This online class was so easy. You have a 15 question quiz every week with 2 mandatory discussion boards. If you just do that then you'll pass. And if you aren't doing your discussion boards, he will email you can remind you to do them. There's no exams or papers!

I am disappointed that Dr. Enck has such a low rating. He routinely sends out mass emails to remind students of upcoming assignments. We had no exams or papers, just weekly quizzes & discussions. He was very communicative and went above and beyond to help when necessary. I would definitely take him again if I could. Honestly confused by his rating.

Enck was the best professor I have had yet. He taught more than just sociology. He gave incredible advice on how to get through college in general. He was encouraging of every student in the class and just loved talking to us! I seriously have yet to have a professor that cares this much about his students. He truly went above and beyond!

I took him online. His course was very easy as he put a whole PowerPoint online to help us with what to study. You will be having a quiz every week as well as discussion posts about what you've learned and about another topic he chooses. He replies to emails and is very helpful. Hint: his quizzes are mostly Quizletable but always read the chapters.
