Exceptional Prof. Very interesting and helps you become a great writer.
Very Caring!
A zealous professor in her subject. She is very passionate about the arcadic literature. She expects for you to be the same, if not there will be a rift. She is a caring professor and I have the pleasure to say I would love to take her again.
Cares about the works read in class.Be prepared for discussions(read the assigned pages!!!).Allows use of study aids(eg: Cliffnotes). But u should be critical of what the aids say.Helpful during office hours, encourages exploratn&experimentatn&risk-taking.
very zealous
be prepared for lots of reading and tonsss of writing! try and get the other Arts in NYC professor if you want an easy grade. although lots of work, she is very dedicated.
She's a great professor that's passionate about her work. She encourages you to do the best in your work in her class and other classes. You have to read the assignments before coming to class..there will be discussions and quizzes in class. But despite that she makes sure u understand the material
excellent professor!!! There is alot of reading but thats just the way the course works. There are approx 2 papers and 3 quizzes. All you have to do is participate in class alot and ur guaranteed an A. Take her she's great!!
She's a great professor and person..not too easy so that you don't feel like it's just a freebie course but she also makes the class interesting. Unlike the other WHUM classes that get excessive writing and tests..she doesn't make you work hard like that. Just participate, read, and you'll pass.
chc 1st seminar was such a horrible class.!!! why does these damned muggels want me to take arts in nyc when i m an engineer?
Good Professor. Just do your work. Be prepared and partcipate and you are fine.
She takes her work very seriously and loves her students. That means that you have to work you ass if you wnat to pass the class. Participate in class but don't suck up because she likes honesty and discussion in class.
She expects quality work and will push students. She's enthusiastic, passionate, and accessible.
Ms. Drabik is a great professor. She makes the stupid books more interesting. She's understanding and quite strange. You should take her!
She's great. If you're willing to read the books, go to class everyday, and learn, she'll definately the best. Her lectures are fun and involved. She uses okay books and looks at them in different perspective. She's full of energy and cares a lot about her student.
Grazyna Drabik is a great professor who wants to challenge her students. She expects quality work and gives good books to read. Her lectures are energetic. Definitely take a class with her!
I hated her when I first took her. It wasn't until later that I appreciated her class and all the things I learned from the books she made us read. All exceptional! She also challenges you so be prepared. Interesting individual also.
She has a strong accent but you grow to it and maybe enjoy it like I did. At first she used to pick on me alot, and I thought she did not like me,and wanted me to drop her class, but I am no quitter I'm a Survivor, but then she and I grew to like each other. She is very helpful if you need help with anything she's there. Also READ. And her lectures are the best. You stay awake. She even do role plays to help understand the text. Best and I got a A-. yeah.
A wonderful, facinating, rich person who knows and CARES about her class, the literature, and her students. She's very engaging. Take a class with her if you have a chance.
She comes in to class everyday riding a bicycle. Her classes are always fun and interactive! As long as you do your homework and participate, you'll do well. She even lets you rewrite papers if you want a better grade.
Professor Drabik was far from my favorite. Her teaching style is totally disorganized, and she shows little concern for her students other work. She believes that her class is everyone's first priority when it is only a silly honors seminar. She gives very little prep time for major projects. However, She is nice and cares about her students.
She is an interesting prof. This class has a lot of work and reading involved. Some of the books were good but others were really hard to understand, but she explains them well. If you don't like to read too much, don't bother with this class because we read 9 books, and most of them were long novels.
This class is ridiculous and overwhelming.Unless you enjoy feeling like a scribe in the tower of endless reading or intend on becoming some sort of ClassicalIvyleagueEnglish Poshcaricature stayaway from this class. The accent is annoying, you fall asleep she expects participation in a lecture of60 or more students.and expect toread anoveleveryweek
I learned a lot from her class. It was very different from anything I've seen before and "The Arts in NYC" actually ended up being the class I learned the most from this semester. However, she tends to be a bit disorganized. Do your best and only take this professor for a class if you are willing to work hard.
She is a EASY grader! Take her. She is boring and you have no idea what grade you are going to get in the end of class because she makes you write reflections and she does not grade them. The lowest grade she gave in our class was a A-. Speak up in class and your guaranteed an A!
This is an overall amazing class. I think It's a fun class and Professor Drabik is really passionate about the arts and it makes the class real and exciting. Basically, you choose if you want to learn from the class This class is definitely better than the other honors college seminars you will be forced to take later.
Very passionate professor, sometimes the classes are fun with a lot of interesting discussion, other times they are boring. My biggest complaint is that you don't get any feedback on how you are doing in the class, until the end of the semester when it is too late. Doesn't give hard assignments, but take the few that she gives seriously.
Absolutely the worst teacher ever. She is very nice and she knows her stuff, but you will not understand anything. She will talk for 30 minutes and you will not know what she just said. She is also very unclear on what she wants. She doesn't give back work so you won't know where you stand until it's too late. I HIGHLY suggest you take someone else
seems like a high school teacher
Prof. Drabik's methods may not be traditional, but she introduces you to many new ways of thinking about a subject, and is always willing to explain more if you don't understand! She always rewards an honest effort to tackle course material. She really cares about your work and wants it to develop. Passionate, encouraging prof- but wont buy B.S. ;)
She can be unclear about her expectations, but the discussions are just discussions--there isn't necessarily a definite conclusion that should be taken, and it doesn't matter anyway most of the time. and you can ask her how you're doing if you want to know.
Professor Drabik is very passionate about teaching. She loves discussions and likes to have the students lead each other. We usually sit in a circle and just talk about our opinions of the readings or anything in general. Participation is necessary in her class.
Prof. Drabik is an exceedingly passionate professor. She cares deeply about her students and about teaching them. Her methods are rooted in having her students do extensive readings and then having fruitful discussions. Attendance and critical thinking and contribution are required.
Great professor. She's very well-spoken and obviously knowledgeable about the topics discussed in class. Do all the assigned readings because you have to prepared to talk and discuss in class.
I really like her! She loves what she does and really wants you to understand the literature. The class is a lot of reading and you should participate in class. She gives really good feedback on the papers, but doesn't really let you know how you are doing. When there are class discussions it is very interesting!
Professor Drabik is a great instructor. When I had her for W.Hum, the class was way larger than it was supposed to be, thanks to the registrar, but she still managed to involve everyone and teach the literature so as to involve people who didnt read a lot and still challenge those who did. Plus, the reading list was great
Her class's will remind you of classes from Harry Potter?s Hogwarts. She has wisdom in her demeanor which complements her amiable sense of humor. Her emphasis on class discussions makes her classes stimulating and fun. Her typical class will open with a philosophical question which will bring a new perspective on the texts you read.
She's absolutely insane, you'll love it. She encourages discussion and class participation. Just don't sit next to her, she hits.
She is very knowledgeable and wise. But very demanding and can be a strict grader. Sometimes it's difficult to understand her. The more you participate in her class the better. She gives everyone a great chance to get an A. Even if you didn't do so well on the assignments she feels you can still improve to an A.
she's hilarious! at first I thought she was crazy, and she is, but it's a good, fun crazy. you'll definitely enjoy her class, but just make sure you come prepared! oh yeah, there's a TON of reading!
She is lovely, she is a real teacher, she is honest and fun, but beware: getting an A is exceedingly labor intensive. Her WHUM101 required twice the work that any of the five other "general education requirements" I have been subjected to. Too much work for a 101-level class.
She means well, but she allowed the class to be overrun by loud personalities, got little done. Very unstructured class, only had one paper and then she lost it! Final paper on a book, and a website, same for the other section. I'd like to take one of her lit classes, though.
She was great. One of the best teaches I had. I took 20th century immigration lit. She's funny but you definitely have to do the readings in the class. Participation is a must!!
She's a great and caring teacher. Really funny and clearly loves the material and her students. However, she won't take no effort! You do have to try. But if you do, she will appreciate it. Don't just blow this class off!
She is a critic herself which means that she loves arts. She would make the topics very interesting and if you do the work and enjoy yourself you will do good in the class
One of the most passionate professors I have ever had. You have to participate and be involved. Few papers. I recommend her. Love her!
Very passionate professor who knows her stuff. If you want a good grade you MUST participate in class. The syllabus is clear but because there are only 2 major assignments you never know how well you're doing.
She was very helpful and understanding.
The class I took with Prof. Drabik was 20th Century Immigration Literature. Although we had to read several novels for the class, we were encouraged to find literature outside the classroom. I really appreciated that we weren't required to write a formal essay for our final papers. I wrote a story that reflected my own immigrant experience.
She is really helpful. We have to read 9 books for one semester. With her instruction, each story becomes more clear and familiar. Some quizzes in the class that help to think real meaning of the story. This class is great to expand your imagination and value of life.
Professor Drabik is a very enthusiastic about the lessons she taught. Although it was just an english class it felt more than that. Because of the excursion that we had to do our selves or as a group, it felt like an eye opening lesson which would be; to pay attention and enjoy all of life's wonders (IN NYC). Also Professor Drabik is VERY nice.
Disappointing. The novels were read were quite dull. Each week, we had "dicussions-leaders" where professor sat back and did nothing while everyone spoke about how they felt about the book. She is vague on expectations for assignments. Her final "exam," worth 10% of the grade, was a free-write basically asking, "So how did you like the course?"
The name of the course is 20th century immigration lit, but the class isn't as interesting as you'd think. The professor has seen better days; she doesn't arrive with energy and enthusiasm. We read some awful books, such as Drown and Lucy. We had to visit a place like St Patrick Cathedral and do a presentation. For a lit class this felt pointless.
Cool professor, a lot of projects. POEMS. A reasonable amount of course work, but you should do it. Went to many performances and stuff. Recommend her if you are into the Performance Arts stuff. Very nice lady, though sometimes she doesn't take bs and will say stuff with no filter. Recommend taking her.
She is a older lady so she doesn't use technology. She is very funny and makes the class very interesting. The whole semester we had 4 one page reading responses and one quiz. She takes her time and breaks down the stories and poems for you to understand. The only problem is that she come late to class
A very funny professor who knows how to entertain a class. Her papers are only 3-4 pages long. She does not like when you bs in papers, so get to the point. Participation is a must. The readings are very interesting and i would recommend to take her class.
One of the most passionable and caring professors I've ever met. She engages with her students and knows how to teach well. It was an honor to take this class with a wonderful professor like her. The books are kinda hard but are fun to discuss about.
Had her for world humanities, we were reading a book a week and then doing a discussion. She is really friendly and flexible. Has pride in her jobs. Just sparknote the books and you will be fine.
Lots of books to read. every week is a different book and you have to write a paper about them, bu the papers are really short. She doesnt like when you bs in the paper. Just get straight to the point. A very funny old woman who knows what she is talking about. A very caring professor. i would definitely take her class again.
She can seem scary at first but if you put the time in, know the reading, keep up on the blog (she takes it very seriously), and do the HW, you'll be fine. She can come off harsh in her comments but she's not a tough grader and if you talk to her outside of class she's very helpful. Don't go out of your way to take her but she's a good professor.
This Prof is great at presenting good material that highlights the struggles, pain, and accomplishments of the Immigrant experience. This was a big class and she remembered small details about her students long after relating readings to their life. In your assignments, your voice and what you have to say matters. Read and have a say; she digs that
Lots of reading on immigrants but they are enjoyable enough books. I honestly showed up for only half the semester an received a B+,but I regret not being there for the deep class discussions. She encourages independent thought and her quizzes and "hw" (rare) are not tough, as long as you've read the stories. Takes suggestions for finals!
Amazing, insightful, caring professor! Always prepared lectures with thought-provoking questions that made everyone in the class voluntarily participate in class discussions. Each week there are readings so just make time for them so you can join the discussions and learn something new about the world & yourself.
Offered insight and is understanding. She pays close attention to her students and knows the way they work in her class. She cannot be fooled; don't BS her work. She's a fair grader and gives a decent amount of work. All her book choices are interesting. Overall I love the classes she taught. I've had her twice. Prepare for a fun semester!
Very enthusiastic about her class and lectures. Her accent makes it a bit confusing and difficult to understand. Tries really hard to keep the class engaged. Really nice, but grades a bit tough. There were a number of books to read, 4 papers. Not bad or that hard. Recitation section is a big help- they usually grade the papers. I do recommend her!
Teaches very well in a seminar style and has a very good balance between her teaching and letting us present to and discuss with one another. No textbooks but a variety of interesting books to read.
Professor Drabik is such an educated woman who really pushes all of her students to take part in classroom discussions. There is a lot of reading involved but, a majority of the novels are really interesting and will appeal to you more after your in-class discussions about them. Overall, just read and participate and you will be fine.
She is a very passionate woman, very wise too. The class was enjoyable, make sure to read all of her assignments so you be engaged in the conversation. As long as you stick to the readings, it shouldn't be difficult to get an A.
She's a lively professor who truly loves the subject she teaches. I liked the class material she chose; a selection of short books and poetry as opposed to a single textbook. She does seem to favor students who participate often. But if you at least do all the readings, you should be fine.
She is a tough grader and she is not encouraging at all. So much writing group tasks and readings. No textbook, but a bunch of books. Didn't like her much but i guess she's an easy grader
You don't do much in class. Just pay attention to her as she talks about the books. Remember what happens, what it means, give good insight in them. She does give group work but it is easy, just write down what you think. Overall easy.
Professor Drabik does come off as very passionate and interested in her work but when it comes down to it she kind of comes off as a condescending and petty professor. If you don't think and answer the way she would she will 'correct' you in a way that suggests her way of thinking is superior to yours. There is also a lot of reading so be ready.
Very passionate about the literature she assigns. She does give a lot of reading, but most of it can be circumnavigated as she discusses it at length in lecture the following one or two days. She is sometimes difficult to understand, but is generally a fun old lady who, at the end of the day, wants you to succeed. She is a fair grader to boot.
At first, I really didn't like her. As the semester went on, though, I really started to love her! She's very passionate about what she does. Participate because she loves when you do. Do the work and you'll be rewarded with a good grade
You can tell she loves what she does! Prof. Drabik is very passionate and always makes for interesting discussion, she also cares deeply about what her students have to say. She is a bit of a tough grader, but if you actually read the books and participate in discussion you'll be fine, she does give some extra credit occasionally too.
A little hard to understand but you'll get used to it. Talks a lot... It's the type of class where you just fall asleep, participate sometimes, and you'll be good. Interesting readings...& she's very passionate about what she does. So, not bad. Go for it!
Professor Drabik is a sweetheart! At first she gave more readings and overtime the class became more interesting and discussion based. I truly enjoyed the material we tackled together as a class as well as the time we spent on our outings. She is an amazing professor that gives excellent feedback and is a true inspiration.
I took Drabik for my Macaulay class Arts in NY. She is an amazing woman. Super inspiring and passionate about art and New York City. I am taking her again for my semester 2 Macaulay class. Definitely would recommend.
Professor Drabik is very passionate about the arts in nyc, and after taking her class, I can definitely say I've never understood and appreciated art as much as I do now. I'm glad I joined her class, which was just an incredible way to start the day at 9:30 am. Take her if you want a fun class that will make you fall in love with NYC. Strongly rec!
Professor Drabik is by far the one of the most passionate people I have encountered in my life. She genuinely enjoys what she does, which is connecting with her students by exploring the arts of NYC. I highly recommend her if you want to be in a class with a motivated professor.
She is really nice and passionate. We had to do everything in group and she grades for midterm by letting us write one page essay on what would we grade ourselves are why? and base on how persuading your "essay" is she goona decide the grade. For our class, the final was take home and had to write 3 essays in total but they are not hard. Take her
shes very tough on u if u dont show up to class or if ur work is weak. gives alot of work but most of it done during the classroom. alotof groupworks.u have to buy the little textbook
She's not clear when she grades papers and her comments on essays are vague. She gave two extended essays (5 pages), many in-class free writes, and write ups (2-3 pages). For an english class, it's not that bad. She's very passionate and all the assignments are based on New York. No exams. Must participate or she'll call you out.
I loved her class! She is very smart and always has interesting stories to tell. Lots of writing and reading, but it's all worth it. She gives very good feedback. Lovely professor!
Professor Drabik lives for class discussion. She assigns a bunch of readings and films (some quite gruesome to be honest) and two group projects. Sometimes we write up something short on readings but often we just discussed in class. You'll spend time outside of class but it's not hard and sometimes even interesting.
Professor Drabik was the perfect start to my day. She was always relatable and passionate in her lessons. Get ready to participate (and you will want to participate) because this is a discussion-intensive course. I've enjoyed my time with Professor Drabik and am looking forward to more courses with them!
This professor is very rude, she is very condescending and if you ask her to clarify directions for an assignment she will not explain and ignore you. She feels that she is superior than the students in her class and always wants it her own way. She curses at you and calls you idiot/stupid if your work is bad. Overall, she doesn't explain herself.
Professor Drabik made my first semester of college a little bit more bearable. She really encouraged a fun, collaborative environment and always held us to a high standard. She also was very big on discussion and interaction which was really nice during online classes. Her class gave me something to look forward to every Tuesday and Thursday.
Professor Drabik definitely made my semester more positive. She's heavy on group projects and genuine human connection, and it's easy to do well if you're genuine and try hard. I would absolutely take her class again.
Professor Drabik did a great job at getting students to participate and interact with each other. Although that might seem scary initially, I ended up enjoying the class and material. Taking one star away tho because there are a lot of readings and assignments but theyre fairly short. Drabik can also be confusing with her instructions.
Drabik was a nice professor but her lectures always went on tangents. She clearly knows her stuff and always encouraged us to take risks and learn more about the world. While she did have a clear grade criteria, we didn't have a concrete rubric for everything and always had to ask for clarification. Just do the work, you'll get an A. Good luck!
i am currently taking her class and i don't know what i was expecting but i wasn't expecting her to be so aggressive as a teacher. she's an older lady and sometimes forgets what we are discussing. i think the class would be great if taught by someone else truthfully.
Professor Drabik is a kind lady whom is very passionate in her teachings. She tends to change the schedule a lot and isn't huge on using technology. Expect to read a lot and participate or she will pick on you. She is wonderful and I would definitely take her again. She remembers everyone's names and is available to talk during office hours.
Must participate, can be picky grader, doesn't use technology, some classes are BORING, discussion based. Honestly, she can be annoying at times but she's an easy A. If you participate a little and do the assignments you can get on her good side. A lot of readings (I never did) and unnecessary hw you can get away with not doing, just participate.
such a sweet lady. just be respectful, participate, and ASK HER QUESTIONS! she'll love you if you do those. shes very passionate about the city, very lenient with class and homework as long as you speak to her. she doesnt emphasize grades but rather learning and good experiences so as long as you put effort in, you'll do really well in her class.
She puts effort into her lectures with a lot of energy and she would always try to get us involved as well. It was a fun entertaining class. Just dont fall back on reading. As long as you're caught up with that you'll be good in this class
Professor Drabik is a sweet old lady who can come off as harsh at first. However, as the semester went on I learned to love her teaching style. There is a decent amount of reading but not too many homework assignments. I will definitely miss the uniqueness of her class.
Professor Drabik is a passionate professor. She loves her students, so she is happy when we try our best in her class. She is also a very interactive+caring. She makes you come out of your shell and gives extra credit for group work. Her lectures are fun, acting out scenes & discussing with each other. Keep up with the reading & you'll do great!
Drabik is a passionate professor with a unique teaching style. She seems a bit harsh in the beginning but she truly cares about all her students and loves watching them explore and learn. Just be genuine, participate and complete your work ( its not heavy whatsoever ) and you'll be just fine.
WOW!! This is what college is supposed to be about. Maybe not so enjoyable if you don't care about the arts but give it a chance because there is such richness in this class. She really helps you notice the beauty in life. Make sure you do your work and bring paper - no devices in class.
Professor Drabik creates an engaging class environment, though her instructions can be a bit unclear at times. The workload is manageable, with helpful study tools like Unstuck AI complementing the assigned readings and discussions. Overall, a rewarding experience for those who embrace the interactive format.
Spends entire lectures ranting about her interests in the books she assigns for her course, often going off topic. She constantly touches her students non-consensually and puts them in uncomfortable situations. As a 101 class that's supposed to teach you about the introductions, she doesn't make sure you understand the topic and grades too harshly.
I took Professor Drabik in Fall 2025. She's extremely intelligent within the field of World Literature and encourages her students to participate. You must be ready to read and write if you're taking this course. Your grade is based on in class free writes and 2 in class tests, participation and attendance, a reflection essay, and a final exam.
