He's so rude! he thinks he's god. He's too hard for a 102 class and tells the students they are wrong for thinking their opinions! DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!!!!!!!!! He's a jerk. He looks like Pauly Shore on drugs too.
smart guy. makes you think. hard class, but you'll learn something.

Professor Big. is the man. I took him for Eng221, and, I got to tell you, the man knows his stuff. He sways on the literal and philosophical a little bit, but, what great mind doesn't. He expects a lot, but will give as much in return.

WHAT A BOZO!! This guy is clueless. Why does Buff State keep a guy like him. He doesn't teach but expects you to know the information. I agree to never take a class with him. I should have listened to the ratings.
Very interesting class - unique take on required reading.
i feel that the basis of what i learned in his class was used in the rest of my college career great guy
THIS GUY IS CRAZY! He makes you write a paper or 2 every night, he knows his literature, but he gets way to into it and expects you to know everything about it already. He's very harsh on grades
Worst prof I have EVER had! He expects you to agree with all of his opinions even though it was a poetry class based on YOUR interpretations. He grades that way too. Pompous, arrogant, belittles everyone. He ruined my 4.0. Buff State should really get rid of this joker.
Negative ratings of this professor aren't justified. As it is an English course, there is reading required. Class discussions follow the readings, it's very simple. You will get more from his classes if you participate and show an interest. Willing to speak with students, very helpful. Great class discussions and interesting reading assignments.
Certainly not the best teacher, but not the worst. We have had to do 6 2-4 page papers over the semester, which is really nothing. Tries to be interactive with the class, but seems to expect everyone to be into the stories as he is. This semester anyway has been all about science fiction. Annoying thing is the course packet is picked up near UB.
If you pay attention and do the readings you'll be ok in the class. He is very hard and has many expectations, so don't take this class if you have other heavy courses. On the downside, his is VERY pompous and he picks favorites.
OMG, he makes you read? Really, it's outrageous, reading in an English class? and wow, he really makes you write that much? C'mon people, this is what you should expect from a college level English class, get over it! He's a GREAT professor and tries to get you to think more. If you think you're still in HS then don't even waste yours/or his time.
Incredibly condescending! I found his comments to be harsh and unexcusable. Talks about students when they arent there and takes digs on them while in class. Is irogant and wants everyone to agree with his way of thinking! Stay away!
I try to be fair so: He is a nice man, and didn't berate students, but it is true that although his literature choices like you to form your own conclusions, if you dont have the same conclusion as he, you're wrong. He is a hippocrit, talking bout how politicians try to imprint their views on you, he does the same. Individuality is prohibitted.
He's an awesome professor and a great guy, very funny also. The work is tough but this is college. He really taught me how to write well, and isn?t that the purpose of the class? I would take another class with Biglieri in a heartbeat!
a lot of people do not like this guy, but i had him for two classes and hes pretty funny. just go with what he says and ignore his rude comments. if u dont like eng i wouldnt take this class hes a semi-tough grader. gives 6 2 page essays; mid term final and the books werent too bad...political class though but it is american lit.
super funny guy, love his hair.
If you're willing to work in this class, you will not find a more enjoyable one. If you're one of those students who sits in the back of the class and doesn't contribute to the discussion, it won't be pleasant. He thrives off class input, and can be quite funny. Make sure to do your work: there is a decent amount of it, but this is college.
A nice guy but seemed clueless most of the time. Expect a lot of reading assignments. He is a tough grader and expects you to participate.
Stay away from any class this man teaches. :-(
This is a great professor who cares a lot about the students that care about what they're doing. This is a COLLEGE English course - be prepared to read a lot and to write. That is the point of college....If you want an easy A and aren't willing to contribute do NOT take a class with this guy. It will be a waste of time for both of you.
this guy is a decent teacher, very accomplished outside of the classroom. i did all of my work and was annoyed that he didnt force the lazies to participate. he pushed 3 students harder because we got it, and i feel like that wasnt fair. my papers got graded differently. the lazies all got c-b's and they didnt even have to talk. attendance is impt
Agreed on an earlier statement- Stay away from this man. He plays favorites in his classes and counts sick days (even with doctors notes) as absences! The students he had in summer were treated better than everyone else and he always answered their questions. Stay away!
Dear Students,This is college, you will read, which means you should be learning and this professor has A LOT to teach you. He's super helpful and if you're willing to go in the classroom with an open mind, you'll walk out a better thinker and much better writer. If you just don't want to work or refuse to think, don't take the class.
I can't believe some of the comments I read, his is so nice and tries to make sometimes not funny jokes but he's never been against us for stating our opinions and greatly encourages them. Sure it's a good amount of reading but I signed up for college, not kindergarten.
This class was one of the best classes I have taken. he is a great teacher, and funny in class. You need to do the reading in order to understand what is going on. This is college...you're expected to read and you should want to learn (it's what you're paying for). Overall great class! :)
Plays favorites to people that act like it is the best class ever. At least 5 people fall asleep every class with him. Hard grader. Shoves his liberal views down your throat. I would not take another class with him.

He does pick favorites. I participated often in the beginning and less as the semester went on because I saw my grades on my essays weren't like everyone elses. Someone who didn't participate at all could get an A and here I was with B's and even sometimes C's. Not fair he grades harder to those who participate.
Don't let the good ratings fool you, those are mostly the teacher pets in his classes (usually 5-10). He basically just talks to his favorites for the class, but the reading isn't bad. Just be ready to explain concepts in your essays and your grade should be fine.
Everyone who gives this man any good ratings must've been of those who were kissing up to him all semester. Picks his favorites&talks to them the ENTIRE class, makes smart, sarcastic remarks & will degrade you in front of the rest of the class and if you don't think the way he does, you're completely wrong, so yeah, AVOID TAKING ANY CLASS with him.
This old guy needs to retire he is always making dumb remarks,he is always making bios remarks towards ethnicity and culture. this fall 2011 semester he picked and made fun of a student with a disability. He thinks he is a funny professor but at the end of the day he is a true ignorant. Hope he gets fired soon. STAY AWAY!
I think the comments on here are a little harsh. I am not one of the people who participate in class too often, but I wouldn't say he disrespects me for it! He expects you to read, and being in college that really isn't an unreasonable request! He's funny, and class is pretty enjoyable. The readings are pretty good too.
I think a lot of the reviews are extremely unfair. If you complete assigned readings/speak up in class/show up for class, it will be apparent in your grade. He is incredibly smart, and students stand to learn a lot from him if they put in the effort. If things are unclear, he will do his best to help you if you ask for it.
I haven't known him for very long but Dr. Biglieri is definitely a super funny, super smart guy who has been a total pleasure. He only asks that you read the material and participate. His classes are fun and interactive and his taste in literature is good so you'll probably end up reading cool stuff you might not have otherwise heard of.
Greg Biglieri is one of the best professors I've had at Buffalo State. He is incredibly smart and funny. I took a poetry class with him and so much material was covered. If you go to class and put some effort into the reading and participate then you will do great. I never skipped a class because it was always entertaining. TAKE THIS CLASS!
PROFESSOR GREG IS QUITE ANNOYING TO SAY THE LEAST- HE PUSHES HIS OPINIONS ON HIS STUDENTS, FOR A POETRY 151 LEVEL CLASS THE COURSELOAD WAS RIGOROUS I DONT RECCOMMEND
Its true that he is a nice professor, I never found him to be disrespectful. But with that being said, his expectations for a 151 poetry class were ridiculous. He was a very tough grader and his assingments were never clear. He assumes that everyone can just look at a poem and discet it the way he can.I was lost for in his class the whole semester
Its true that he is a nice professor, I never found him to be disrespectful. But with that being said, his expectations for a 151 poetry class were ridiculous. He was a very tough grader and his assingments were never clear.
You should not take Dr. Biglieri's class if you're looking for an easy A. You should take his class if you want a knowledgable and engaging professor who pushes you to understand the subject matter. Dr. Biglieri is always available outside of class for students who wish to speak about the subject he knows.
From reading everyone's comments, I was scared to take this class. However, I loved this class. He loves what he teaches and yes, It is challenging but that's what college is about. As long as you engage yourself and do the work, you'll do fine. I love poetry now because of him and this class. One of the best professors I've ever had!
Biglieri was an interesting professor to say the least. He was kind of a jerk sometimes but he is passionate about his work. At the end of the semester looking back, I would take another one of his courses. If you don't like to do homework or think that you can skate through doing nothing- don't take this class. I really did learn a lot though.
If you do the reading and participate in discussions you will Ace his class. He has a quirky sense of humor, which can be misinterpreted. He is very passionate about Literature and it comes through in his lectures. Tests are always passage identifications and can be hard, but if you do the reading you will pass.
He is very opinionated. He really likes when others feel how he feels towards the subject matter. If you suck up to him, you will prob do okay. Can be rude and disrespectful towards students during class, and tends to talk down to others. Worst teacher in English departments, for sure.
This class is okay. It isn't great, but it isn't terrible. Can be pretty boring if you don't participate or didn't read the book.
Dr. B is a great guy. If you have an issue, whether it be with the curriculum or personal conflicts, he is available as long as you ask. This class was stressful, but I wouldn't have learned as much as I have about Shakespeare otherwise. This is college and it's a 300 level class. It shouldn't be easy because that defeats the purpose.
Very disrespectful and talks down to others, he will purposely try and make you look dumb in front of the whole class if you speak up. He is funny at times but if you're looking for an easy A do not take this class, he is an incredibly hard grader.
I entered this class prior to becoming an English teacher, he was amazing. If you participate and aren't afraid to share your thoughts on the reading, you will do well. You have to read, participate, and do the work. He is hilarious and tells very interesting stories. He gets a little political and you can't take offense to it (plus he's right)
I still don't know what this guy was talking about all semester. Impossible expectations for papers. I've never been so confused. I can't believe I paid money to listen to that quack.
His expectations would be more appropriate for a graduate level class. Papers are incredibly hard and will make you absolutely miserable to write.
This rating system doesn't do Dr. B justice. I enjoyed his class immensely and I'm actually sad that it's over. However, he's a tough grader and if you're looking for an A, don't bother.
First off, he loves language and wants you to do the same. His standards were awful high for a 200 level course. If your paper didn't do exactly what he wanted, then he graded it harshly. As opposed to helping with his criticism, he just made me feel stupid because I didn't analyze the books in the same way as he did.
He is a tough grader, you will read about 8 novels some are very long and you must do a response to each novel. it's not just reading and writing a response, you must analyze the book and it's hard to get a B. I tried my hardest and never missed class and I ended up with a C.
IF YOU ARE READING THIS DROP OUT NOW. I loved poetry and was super excited to take this class. It was the hands down worst class I have ever taken. EVERY DAY WAS A NIGHT MARE. If opinion differs from him it WILL be reflected in your grade. EASY F.
I never use this site, but with this professor I felt obligated to say that he is a sociopath. If you're talented, have a strong character, and have a reputation for being a very smart student, he will zero in on you and try to ruin your reputation. He will try to make you believe you are less than you are. My advice is to stay away.
The fact that this man is only professor that teaches Shakespeare made me second-guess my decision to attend Buffalo State College.
If you can find the same class with a different teacher: DO IT. He was so condescending and rude. Don't get me wrong, he's insanely smart and quick with wit, but he uses anything he can against you. Nothing is good enough. There is little to no comfort when one wants to speak to him, and I've never felt more judged in my life.
He thinks his class is the only one that matters and expects you to have time to read the plays multiple times. His tests and quizzes are tough and he is not an easy grader. I would suggest taking a different major figure this class was not worth the stress.
Great subject matter. Use your brain, that's what you're there for. Friendly and there if you need help with problems. Encourages creativity (within the guidelines- don't go too crazy). Smart smart. If you want to sleep or play on you cellphone(s) you're not going to do well. No way around it. Be cool.
I wouldn't recommend this class to anybody. I had him for Intro to Lit. and Film and it was the worst mistake of my life to not withdraw from the course. He is a very tough grader and often makes you feel like your work is not good enough. He wants you to think on his level and if you don't he can be very dismissive.
Hes very sarcastic, smart & quick witted, that I can appreciate in a person. But when he doesnt get his way he uses that sarcasm against you. He wants you to think like him, but on the other hand, he appreciates seeing peoples thinking process. Avoid taking this class with him, try online. He makes you travel a long distance to get a textbook
The only way to survive Dr. Biglieri is to throw Dr. Biglieri right back at him. If youre a sensitive person, tread lightly because hell rip you apart. Otherwise, if you do your work and contribute hes hilarious and extremely passionate about the content and the banter that ensues will stick with you long after you have him.
I have no problem with Greg as a person but I find myself missing what we should be focusing on. He sort of jumps all over the place with each section of the reading. After each book he expects a 2 page paper, but if you want an A it should be at least 4 pages because it's more than likely you haven't gone in depth enough for the credit.
There were two required text books to get, one wasn't used long and the other was inconvenient to get. There are 4 exercises you do fairly easy to do and get a good grade on by mimicking the authors work we go over. There are 4 response papers which get annoying to do after awhile but I got A's on them. It is a boring lecture to get through.
You'll be fine if you can repeat what he tells you and don't draw attention to yourself.
Ive taken two classes with Dr. B and I must say hes my favorite professor at buff state. Hes very sarcastic with the type of personality you either love or hate, there is no middle ground. He tries very hard to be funny and demands class participation. He is very insightful when it comes to interpreting the literature.
Class and subject matter was fine & fairly easy. Just wish he would keep his political opinions out of the class. No need for it in a film class.
Greg is the professor I look up to the most at Buff State. He is, undeniably, a very difficult grader, and his personality can alienate students, especially students who slack off or don't bother to think. Discussions can be incredibly meaningful if you're invested and working on a deeper level. Prof. B is very sarcastic, very funny, and clever.
Just an overall good dude. Has a hard time keeping politics out of the classroom, but what professor doesn't these days. Very engaging conversations in his class. I am looking to take him again somehow, even though the class will not count towards my major. I took him 2 years ago and still think of the discussions we had as a class.
He's like that guy in the coffee shop that lets everyone nearby know what he thinks about everything. But he's your professor and you have to put up with it if you want to pass the class. I saw that he had a few favorites by the end of the first week, but I needed the class. Did not learn much except to avoid him. Play along to pass like I did.
Professor Biglieri is a tough professor to review. If you're mature, a hard worker, and not afraid of discussion - he's your guy. He is NOT an easy A. He's NOT going to let you just sit on your phone. But the educational experience you get is well worth the hard work. He changed me as a student for the better, and I thank him for it.
Definitely one of the weirdest classes I've ever taken. A film class, not sure if I chose the correct course code. He says participation matters, but if you watch the movies, remember the character's names and the scenes, you'll do just fine. Yes, there's a lot of movies to watch, but pay attention! Take notes, never participated and I got an A.
I absolutely loved this class! The discussions were amazing, if you enjoy speaking in class and analyzing material then I would certainly recommend. I took this as a hybrid class due to COVID but the transition was incredibly smooth. You will have to write a lot and there are a lot of quizzes (never any pop quizzes). But you get out what you put in
Knows his stuff for sure, my biggest issue is that he won't stop talking. He will complain about wanting student participation but interrupt student's thoughts if he doesn't agree with their thought process. It's like you have to think the same as him or you don't get to speak. Heavily focuses on the writing style or craft rather than the content.
Worse person Ive taken - a whole letter grace every absence or lateness after your 3 free skips. Boring lectures too
He's a nice guy and all, but he's intimidating as a prof. As long as u participate in class and don't say anything weird, he'll like you and you'll do fine. BUT be warned, if you answer any questions on the first day, he will choose you to read things or answer questions in the future A LOT. he picks favorites.
Gregg has been one of my favorite professors so far. I always get ready to have a good chuckle upon entering his class. Some of the books picked weren't the most interesting, but it was worth it all the same just to be able to experience what this man had to offer. This is a man that loves reading, Italian, and Hot Pockets
Greg was a great professor. This class was interesting, and he is very passionate. All the films are film noir (old black and white movies) so they can be boring at times. If you watch the movies assigned and participate you will have no problem. Exams and papers are based on analysis of the films, so write as much as you can. Greg is cool and fun.
I took this class hoping that it would be enjoyable like the last poetry class I took, but I was very wrong. He called us stupid constantly if we did something that he didn't like. For a creative writing class, we really weren't allowed to get creative. He doesn't care about problems influencing your life and will call you out for it to the class.
counts absences against you and it will bring down your grade. doesn't give a lot of clear and helpful feedback on assignments/papers. he's hilarious and a actual good guy though, make sure to participate in class
Professor B is a great professor, he doesn't take lightly to slacking off. Attendance is mandatory for any of his courses, because the classes are all based on lecture. He will expect you to pay attention and participate. If you do not, he will call on you. He just wants you to pay attention, attend, and complete your work on time and correctly.
If you do not have the same viewpoint as him, or if you cannot see where he is coming from, he does not explain further; he just assumes we are lazy or we did not read the work of literature. He does not seem to care about the success or well-being of his students.
Does not do a good job of explaining what he wants to see in your work and usually goes off topic during class. Difficult to understand what he is talking about and will use references that only he knows to explain writing techniques.
Greg is a good professor, because his advantage is more than disadvantage on teaching. For advantage, he has full of attention to care student who ask specific question. If you don't know somethings, just ask, furthermore, he accept the delay homework. Disadvantage: like teasing student work is hard. a nice and fun teacher but ready for challenge.
Likes to hear himself talk and teases students. He isn't horrible but he kinda liked me so I didn't have it as bad as some kids. Not very clear in his instructions or concepts and doesn't really like to elaborate. Not difficult if you do the work but even then I found myself groaning to go to class on days where I had a low social battery
Teases students a lot, and he just kinda talks about whatever is in class since the work is just busy work. Attendance is mandatory and can affect your grade a lot if you skip. Beware if you use AI since he is really strict about it, check your work in Sapling before submitting it cause that's what he uses for AI even though it isn't reliable.
DO NOT TAKE HIM
probably the worst class i've ever taken. just do not take this class
Very annoying, weird, and opinionated. He has his favorites, and his lectures are boring as he over-complicated things like hw and doesn't get to the point.
If you value your gpa and sanity, DO NOT take this class!
Do not take him! Commented on people's personal lives, picked on students, and makes jokes towards people's cultures and backgrounds.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
If I could rate this professor a zero out of 5 I would. Do not take this class...
very opinionated, gives little to no feedback on assignments, and you're graded by very few things in this class. this is a college writing 1 class, it isn't supposed to be too difficult, yet he overcomplicates things for no reason
