comprehensive final, don't believe the terms only remark
Comprehensive final... study mostly terminology and you'll do ok. He's always willing to answer any questions you have and does so in a way that is clear and easy to understand.
tests are kinda hard, not much room to improve grades if you don't do well on tests
Tests are hard and he doesnt always explain everything thats going to be on the test. He offers study groups before the test but aren't the biggest help to prepare.
This was my second time taking it. I got a higher grade but I actually recommend my old teacher, Gibbison better. Brock is boring. Don't ignore that. HE IS BOOOOORING!! I skipped 20+ classes. I feel sorry for you if you get him for night classes. zzz
Boring as hell. Had him for night class. Dropped him after two classes.
His class is really easy now, he uses WEBCT and the tests are similar, all multiple choice. The final is straight from the WEBCT quizzes. Horribly boring, but a nice guy.
I don't think he is that boring. (maybe somewhat) Class wasn't that hard. Just go to class everytime and you will do good.
He is boring. I quit attending class and never read any material so my grade suffered some, but I still pulled out a B because the final is an easy A.
Every test I had ever seen from this man were the easiest tests ever, until I took his class. He is very inconsistant from semester to semester in his degree of easiness.
He is an easy teacher but he isnt very social or nice!!....Although i do like the 20-30 minute breaks he gives during his 3 hour long classes!
He is very boring, and not consistent at all! His first test was extremely easy, but the last too were HARD! He is the worst teacher I have ever had!!!
Attendance is not mandatory, but I would highly recommend it. A fourth of the questions on the exam are about activities we did in class. If you're not good at economics, don't take him. I had a tough time all semester. I studied for 8 hours for exam two and only made a 70! The lectures make the material seem easy, but don't be fooled!
Very funny. Very liberal in his teaching. I would recommend him to anyone.
boring class, hard to stay awake, attendance is not mandatory but its important that you dont miss lectures. class is not that hard as long as you show up, if you skip class a lot dont take this guy
WOW! this was the most boring thing i have ever had to sit through. And you don't have to come to class but he does pop quizzes...so you should..but its so boring that you have to force yourself to walk through the door...awful awful awful...but i got a b...BUT was only .1 points away from an a...and he didn't give it to me
DO THE EXTRA CREDIT IF YOU WANT THE HIGHER GRADE. I made an 89 in the class and he did not give me an A simply because I "refused" to do the extra credit. I studied for hours on all of the tests and the highest grade I made was a low B. Attendance is not mandatory but he does give random quizzes. One of the most boring classes I've ever taken.
The class was not that boring, although the fact that it was 3 hours long made it worse. Funny guy, but not consistent from class to class. Went to every single class and still made a C. Also, his opinions kind of ticked me off. Doesn't grade homework, though!!
Okay, class wasn't that bad. But, I do have to say that he tricked us with the first test.. since it was so much easier than the last two. Class is boring sometimes and his lectures can be kind of confusing. Tests were hard because the questions were worded funny. Unless you love Economics or you're really good at it, I would not recommend him.
Class is not easy due the the confusing lectures and inconsistency of his tests. He is very libral and biased toward the status of the economy and how race affects it. I do not recommend him unless you enjoy hearing how whites are to blame for everything.
I struggled to say awake in every class, his test are ridiculous and don't even bother take it if you want and A. On the first day of class he said that no one makes an A in his class.
Brock and economics both suck. He's dull, too one-sided and the class is too long. Brock gives an opportunity for extra credit (research), but I have more important classes that come first. I studied my butt off for the tests, but I'll be lucky to get a C. Take someone else!
Do not take this class. He is smart and unless you know all about economics your in trouble. His test are impossible because of wording. The only good thing is you have to do applia but he does not grade for accuracy. Strongly advise you take another proffesor.
omg. dont take this class! he babbles on about nothing to do with the tests. His "reviews" nothing to do with what is on the tests. The 1st test, straight from the book...after that the way he words the questions make them very very hard to answer. this was the first C i have ever made in my life. Do the aplia itll help n b there for activities.
Pretty easy class. A few folks blamed prof. for class being 3 hours long and once a week - but that isn't prof's fault! fun activities, must attend to get credit for them. was in informal virtual study group - helped me some.
I am not considered "stupid" as others suggested in giving reviews for this guy. He is a nice enough man but gives homework EVERY NIGHT through an online application which you have to pay 80 bucks to access (in addition to the text book!)and one homework assignment has as many as 80 ?'s! Ridiculous. I dropped the course so it wouldn't screw my gpa.
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY! I always make good grades, but this guy's tests are insane. I get every question that was covered in the discussion right. Other questions are extremely wordy and are basically trick questions. He said on the first day that out of my class of 50 there might be 3 A's. He's a good teacher, don't get me wrong, but his tests ar bs
Easy A--I took Brock only one night a week. The classes were incredibly boring however the tests (4) and homework(once a week) were extremely easy. Attendence was not mandatory but he gave extra credit on certain days so it paid to be there. Uses aplia online book which is about 80.00.
This professor has extremely difficult tests. He teaches the material in class well but likes to put trick questions on the test. Just recently he wrote on the board what would be on the final and said, "even if you know this stuff you probably won't make an A or even a B." So if you want a challenge and really love Economics this is your guy.
You get two absences. I took him at night for 3 hours and it was very boring and hard to pay attention. I madea a D in the class and read all the chapters and did all the homework. He is a tough teacher. I would NOT recommend him!!
He is the worst teacher in the world. He is so rude and there were only 10 people in a 30 person class that passed the CLASS. If you get this guy drop him and find a better teacher. He is awful.
This teacher is terrible. He is mean and rude. I just emailed him to let him know I couldn't attend class tonight due to a family issue, his response: "Your personal problems are not mine, please see your syllabus to see how many points will be lost from your grade." Really?! Not to mention is tests are impossible and his lectures make no sense.
This teacher is ridiculously hard. He is rude and his tests are impossible to pass. I went in to have him tutor me about a chapter I didn't understand and he made me feel like I was dumb for coming to him about it. Get out of his class!!
Im a chem/pre-med major. I previously had a 4.0 GPA but this class ruined it. I studied for every test and the second test is IMPOSSIBLE! The easy test is the only one before add/drop, the last three are horrible! DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER... EVER!
I had him for the core requirement of ECON. He wasnt mean nor was he rude, but he wasnt a very clear professor. We have study guides, but a lot of it isnt on the actual exam. I dont recommend him, especially as a night class.
This prof is probably the worst ever. He is not clear when teaching and tries to compare the things you are learning in class to things that are completely unrelated. He refers to himself as "Greg" and is just overall not a good prof. The only good thing about his grading is he drops to lowest one, but that doesn't even help b/c the test are HARD!
1/2 of the is him trying to push the extreme left onto you which is extremely distasteful. 1/4 of the class is him going off on a tangent and you lose your way in his explanations and don't understand the material and the other 1/4 is his poor teaching skills.
"Greg" as he refers to himself is probably the worst professor I have had thus far in College. His test are terribly hard even after attending every class and studying the notes and book for hours. I definitely do NOT recommend anyone putting themselves through the pain of a class that Greg Brock is teaching.
"Greg" is the worst teacher I have had while in college. He spends 3/4 of his time talking about pointless stories and pushing his left wing views on you. Tests are nearly impossible, attendance is mandatory. There are many other teachers that teach ECON 2105 that are MUCH better. Take anyone else if possible
He's not rude or unclear like some people have said. He's passionate about ECON and you learn a lot but his test are pretty tough. Most test questions are trick questions and even if you know you're right, you may be wrong. So if you take his class you shouldn't have problems with him as a teacher/person, just that his test are impossible
He is passionate about economics, making his lectures more interesting, but his tests are indeed hard. I got a B after studying and reading every chapter, so just know that you'll have to make an effort to get your grade. He's pretty good about explaining hard topics, though, and gives out objectives to study for each test. Pretty average teacher.
He is incredibly pretentious and a poor teacher. The material is easy to grasp and easy to learn, however he uses a lot of the 'best' answer type questions when all or some are arguably correct. I took him for Master's level International Business and the course material was straight forward, but Greg was not.
This professor is quite nice. He is NOT a professor for anyone not majoring in ECON! Read from the ebook that's where the test and quizzes will come from and do the extra credit! This class was very boring and there was a guy that fell asleep in front of me everyday, we were on the front row. Get another professor if possible!
He makes this class very hard, and only accepts PERFECT answers on his assignments, which will make you fail what should be the "gimmie" grades. Tests are also very difficult, he gives some extra credit, but like the assignments they must be PERFECT examples to be accepted. I reccommend you take another professor
If you are looking for the easy road, this guy ain't it. Though he is clear in presenting the material in class, he is VERY specific on the answers he will accept on his in class assignments. He's a great guy, but his tests are super hard. Just be ready to study A LOT.
BE PREPARED TO GO TO CLASS EVERYDAY. He's a really good professor but if ECON is not your major, Don't take his class. STUDY EVERYDAY! He pulls material for the test from examples in class and notes not mentioned in the lecture. Overall, the class was boring and attendance was usually below 40, but attendance is important. Good luck!
His tests are pretty tough... My first C i've gotten in college. Read the chapters and really study for the tests. Also, you have to attend class because he does random in class assignments that add up to be a test grade. Don't email him about anything because he'll just tell you to look at syllabus.
i am a senior taking economics because i was so scared to take it that i had to put it off. i went in expecting the worst but Greg has really helped along the way. i made an A on the first test. he gives easy point throughout the semester as long as you go to class. if you are nervous about econ i recommend taking him!
Very biased on his views of the Government. Hard tests, and the overall clarity of his class is poor. Seems like a nice guy, just a poor teacher. (Well, not the teacher for me)
I took Brock Fall 2012, as a junior and I was really interested in taking ECON, until I had Brock. His attendance policy is absolutely no joke and will hurt your grade if you miss. I have never failed a class in school, let a lone in college, and I got an F in Brock's ECON class. I would highly recommend you avoid taking ECON2105 with Greg Brock
Worst teacher I have ever had! He tries to seem so cool, but he actually does not care about his students at all! Do NOT take him.
I wouldn't recommend him if you don't like econ. The kids who understood the material in class did well. The tests are pretty hard and he does put tricky questions on them. My biggest advice would be to do all the Homework assignments online and DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. My grade went from a C in the class to a B just because of the EC.
I do not recommend taking this professor at all! He is certainly by far the WORST professor I have had. His test do not match the class assignments or the study guide. He is not helpful. I studied excessively and still barely passed the class.
Brock is not a good teacher and his homework has nothing to do with the tests. I came out of the class more confused about econ than i did going in.
He is not a good teacher! His lecture, activities, study guide and tests do not go together! I have gone to class everyday and studied really hard and I am barely passing his class. If you ever email him, he will just tell you to read the syllabus to find the answer.
Greg can be a cool guy sometimes, but his class is very difficult. Tests were hard and had little to do with class discussion. In class activities were difficult as well. Although the grades are slightly scaled, I wouldn't recommend him unless you are very good at econ. If you chose to take him, DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, you will regret it if you don't.
DO NOT TAKE! He refuses to give a direct answer when asking for help. The extra credit is helpful but not enough. Even after tutoring and all of his study group where he attends, the test has NOTHING to do with the material he teaches. Horrible teacher and could care less if you pass or fail.
If you want to pass at all, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! So unhelpful and rude at times. Tests do not match what he discusses in class and the grading system is messed up. His class destroyed my GPA and even when I studied everything he said to, I still failed.
Greg is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. He refuses to help in any way and genuinely does not care about his students and their grades and he shows that regularly. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY HE IS THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD HE SHOULD NOT BE A TEACHER IN ANY WAY.
I took his class a couple years ago, and to be quite frank, I don' t understand what all the fuss is about. The class isn't that tough. He's a professional who demands 100 percent from his students. If you find this course difficult, you're in for a rude awakening. A students' perception on a teacher and his methods is subjective anyway.
Oh man, he's rude! I don't suggest taking this class. He makes unequal tests (different versions with completely different questions) and some of the questions have literally nothing to do with his lectures. He doesn't seem to care and doesn't offer any help to students.
I love economics and have had great professors at GSU in this department, but Brock is completely incompetent. Not consistent at grading assignments, very rude towards students if you ask for grade breakdowns for your work, or a review for EXAMS. He will not do any. Got in trouble by department chair for how he ran our class. AVOID BROCK!!!!!!!
No. Stay Away. Stay very far away. Just finished this course and worked so hard to barely pass. Avoid Brock. Avoid Brock. AVOID BROCK.
Greg is the worse. He does not care if you pass or not. He is boring and constantly refers to the syllabus when you need help. He tries to be funny and sarcastic but its just annoying. He gives you a study guide, but most of whats on the test is not on the study guide. I would never take him again.
He is good!
He sticks hard to the syllabus and as long as you come to class and pay attention to his lectures, you will do fine. You can only earn up to 100 points for the class, and tests are worth 30 a piece. There are 3 tests and 4 opportunities of 30 points, and he drops the lowest out of 30. Grades are EARNED rather than received.
Would never take him again. He does not care if you pass and is not helpful at all. When you email him he's rather rude about grades or anything really. You can tell he likes what he's teaching but he isn't good at teaching in general. Definitely take any other professor you can for this class.
Professor Brock makes what should be an easy ECON 2105 class ridiculously hard. In class assignments, Tests, even the syllabus quiz was hard. If you're trying to get an A or B I would not recommend at all. Either find a easier professor for this class or take it another semester but steer clear.
Economics is confusing, but Brock did everything he could to make it interesting and relatable. The class is passable, BUT you have to show up, take notes, and study. Extra credit is available. His tests are tricky and he has pop quizzes. I've heard there are much worse econ profs out there, so choose him. Plus he's adorkable.
Oh Greg. His class was a mess. The only grades are tests and not much of the material is covered in class. Be prepared to read and teach yourself. He also won't answer most questions you ask him.
If you value your GPA don't you dare take this professor, his test are supper hard, and for extra credit you have to present in front of the entire class just to get 2 stupid points. I repeat don't take this professor.!!!!
I took his class simply because I needed Econ for core, and he made it absolutely ridiculously confusing. He went too fast on topics that needed to be discussed in further detail in order to understand other concepts not to mention you only have three tests and one is the final. He grades way too hard and doesn't make clear what you should know.
I barely passed when I took Micro and easily made an 80 on his tests. He gives entertaining and good lectures in class. He is very helpful if you go to his office hours. If you make an 86 in the class, it's rounded to an A and he drops your lowest test. There is a class to review for every test and he gives a study guide; final is not cumulative.
All he does is teach off of his powerpoint slides, and he doesn't really make much sense. Not to mention his monotone voice makes class even worse. He gives learning objectives before tests but none of that material is even on the test and the tests are much harder than what he teaches. Only nice thing is that he considers an 87 an A, 77 a B, so on
So I have never rated a professor because I have never seen a need to but I couldnt let this one go. Dont take him. Please just dont. He could care less about helping students. his assignments are due @12:01 AM so if it says its due the 15th, really its due the 14th. If you talk about grades in office hours he will lower your grade. not helpful
This class was not what I expected at all. He's very dry and boring. He reads off powerpoints the entire class and the information is not on the test.
If you want to pass, don't be lazy, wipe away your sass, and read the book! Dr. Greg Brock does not make up his tests, but rather, the author of the book sends him test. Attendance is not mandatory. Online homework assignments are due every Sunday. He cracks jokes and they are so funny.
He rarely responds to emails, and when he does, they're one word answers with the "sent from my ipad" signature. He's very uncaring towards his students and clearly does not put much effort into the class. He teaches by reading off of powerpoints from the book company. If you go to office hours, he says "this could have been done over email"...
DO NOT take this professor. He could care less about his students and their grades. He is rude and does not care to offer the slightest bit of help to his students. The fact that he still has a job amazes me. I failed his class and had to retake the course with another instructor. With a different instructor I have an A in the course.
My partner yelling, "Too soon, don't do it! Reconsider, read some literature on the subject You sure? Forget it . . ." This guy teases you with a lighter grading scale while reinforcing stiff grading criteria. There is an extra credit assignment I suggest you take advantage of if ECON is not your thing. Don't miss any assignments cause he wont care
Final format matched none of the other test formats. Was WAY harder. Grades on a scale so an 87 is an A. Offers extra credit, do it because the final is ridiculous. Can skip class whenever. All powerpoints are online. No tests are cumulative. Kind of boring to listen too. He loves economics. Shares some fun facts.
Be prepared to take a test that only looks at one or two formulas. Lectures are a chore and are not clear or well designed. If you can take someone else, do it. I've never had a problem with understanding economics until I took him.
Listen...I never write reviews about professors but this is the ONE time I feel the need to. IF POSSIBLE DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! He does not care about your grade. You probably get 5 grades in total. His lectures are boring and he got them from online. He doesn't teach the material, its expected you already know it. He makes everything difficult.
he is not helpful through email, gives half ass answers and then when your grade suffers from his poor communication, he again doesnt care at all. DONT take this dude...
Greg is an alright professor. His lectures are really boring but he is really passionate about what he's teaching. Grading scale is set so that an 87+ is an A.
I would not take this class again. The grading scale although it seems easy to get a good grade as an 87 is an A. The class is very difficult. Tests are barely based on lectures and are much more about the texts. If you miss anything, do not ask to retake it or any help with it as he will not help you. I was discouraged from the start.
Tests are nothing like the lectures but more of the textbook, so good luck.
Requires you to come to class every day. He will only give you two unexcused absences no matter what. You better take advantage of tutors and make sure you study every day. It is best to knock out the online homework immediately. He grades online work by the completion rather than if you did well on it.
Dropped the class early in the semester because I was unable to make the one class where the syllabus quiz was due. Talked with the professor about turning it in late and told him my legitimate reason for missing and he did not care. The Syllabus quiz is 10% of the entire class grade. Would not recommend taking.
Does not care at all about his students success, absolute GPA killer
Absolute worst professor I have has so far. Does not care about your grade or whether you understand the material. He is also very unorganized and vague in his directions.
He isn't the best professor by any means. He teaches as if we already know ECON when none of us are ECON majors. His lectures are very vague and his tests are insanely hard. I can say he was understanding about me needing to reschedule a test which was nice. But I do not recommend this class if you want your GPA to go up.
This teacher is really super kind and heart warming!!! Love him!!
This guy sucks. Straight up. He is a good guy as it is but as a professor he sucks. If you want to get your GPA up then avoid this guy.
He was just okay, I don't really feel one way or the other about him. He does move very fast so it is a struggle to keep up.
Not the best professor he rambled on a lot in class on stuff that is off topic he teaches econ as if we already know the content 3 pop quizzes on random dates throughout the year the test are the hardest things ever and Im a good test taker I would avoid if you want to boost your GPA
If you can avoid this professor you should. The test are nothing like the notes, you will have to read the text book and do the homeworks multiple times to study for exams or you will not pass them. He gives an extra credit opportunity but other than that he does not want to help his students and will not curve grades.
This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. He gives you 3 pop quizzes throughout the semester and says thats the attendance policy because if you dont show up you get a zero. His tests are absolutely nothing like the notes or online assignments. I missed a C by one point and he refused to round up.
This professor is rated horribly but I had to choose him cause I had no choice. He is so passionated about economics. The powerpoint is on folio but pls attend his class cause he will tell you something and those will be on the test. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, it just takes 10 mins but make it interesting or he just give you 1/3. You have to study hard.
Worst teacher ever taken. He doesn't care about the success of his students. He can't teach properly and if you want to keep GPA up, avoid this guy.
He expects you to know everything about ECON and does not teach well at all! When you ask a question he does not explain. To figure out your grade for the class good luck also if you ask he will look at you stupidly and tell you to figure it out yourself. The exams are nothing like the notes. AVOID HIM AND HIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
4.0 student until this class. The worst teacher I have had since starting school at four years old. He does not care about anything & the only thing he knows how to do is read off a slide. He knows the content but has no idea how to teach it. -10/10
Show up to class he gives 2 free absences but he says some important stuff. The class is hard and his lecturing is not the best. His class is really informative but doesn't translate well to the exam. There will be pop quizzes so stay on your toes. He drops 30 points calculating grade is ez. Do the extra credit it's up to 4% bonus on overall grade.
this class is difficult. He is extremely against technology so if you like taking notes on your computer you're out of luck. He just kind of babbles along during class making very difficult to sit through. Do not be late to an exam because he will just give you a zero.
Came across as an easy going, straightforward guy at the beginning, but It quickly became clear that he expects students to have an unreasonable amount of prior knowledge in economics, often leaving an awkward silence when he asks questions to the class. He knows what he is talking about but it does not translate well with his teaching methods. DNT
Participate in class as much as possible. The lecture was organized well. People are mad at him just because they cannot follow what he's talking about, and also they don't pay attention that much. The test was hard I have to admit, but it was not that bad. Do the extra credit if you can, it's just 3 points but it helps a lot.
Do not take class. You will not know your grade till the semester is over
do not take him if you want to save your gpa
Dr. Brock is incredibly insensitive and doesn't teach the material very well. He seems uninterested the entire class and doesn't connect with students at all. His assignments aren't very difficult but, he is a horrible teacher if you actually want to learn about economics. If you are struggling with an issue make sure you don't email him about it.
Class is way too hard
Class is easy, he is boring. Find something to do to kill time in class. Easy A.
He deleted the bad reviews. All you need to know. Avoid
Do not take this professor. You will not know your grade until the end. You are not allowed to use technology of any kind, even for notes. He goes on tangents and is horrible at teaching the correct material. His classes are monotone lectures and tests, that's basically it. If you care about your gpa do not take him.
good explaining, drops lower grades, tests are hard, no technology in this class, he will count you absent, there is an extra credit opportunity, pop quizzes, but get to work with the class
Do not take this class if you want to keep up with your grades throughout the semester. You never know your average, all he gives is a slip of paper with a number- like how many questions you got right (not a grade) on a slip of paper after every pop quiz. His exams are hard considering he only teaches by PowerPoints.
Average Professor, really isn't that bad. Listen in the lectures, do the work assigned, and most importantly come to class. Everything is on the syllabus and he follows it to a tee. As long as you do the work you will pass with a decent grade.
If you want to keep up with your grades don't take his class, he does not give you your grades back and will not help in any circumstances to get your grade up. He has a good amount of pop quizzes so make sure you are paying attention in class because they are all about the lectures.
Bro where do i even start. This dude literally doesn't put in grades. He doesn't use the grade book and it's literally because he's lazy?? He used scantrons yet refused to put the grades in the grade book. Second of all, he is so uptight about the use of technology and will let you know. He takes points off for being on your phone/using AirPods.
The professor has a specific teaching style, but engaging with it pays off. Attend lectures, read the free textbook, and use tools like unstuck ai for study prep. The exams are challenging, but manageable with consistent effort.
THE WORST PROFESSOR! He does not care about any of the situations you might have to miss class. He is the rudest person I have ever met. He expects you to know everything about econ even as a 2000 level. I asked if he would be able to meet after class for him to explain some exam questions I missed and he said no "it is already graded. Too bad."
Absolute worst. I have never made below an A on anything in my life. How is he not fired is my question.
Terrible professor doesn't grade doesn't tell you about work slow teaching style. His style is also so boring making you want to fall asleep
Drop this man asap! He will hold you back from reaching your goals. I took him once and lost my aid and opportunity to go to college. I was required to make C+. I had 3 A's and a D. I took him again due to life schedule and again I got an D. We all are good at certain things and not as strong in other areas. This man is a joke.
