Equal balance of tests and quizzes.
This guy has no clue. what a joke of a class.you He gives 5 min at the end of class for the test and then cant understand whay 75% of the class got an F!!!!!
What a joke
Warning warning do not take this man for math. He has no clue. He was only on time ounce for the class. Never knows where we should be in the book. More math history than how to do math. Buy the book you will need it if you want to know how to do the prob
I am just wondering how I could possibly fail both my midterm and final, not do my homework half the time, not learn a dang thing but still pass this class with a C?? Like somebody posted before...this guy is a JOKE!
This man is not a joke. A little too much history and talking about nothing, yes, but he's a good teacher. This is a man that will focus on one question just to make sure everyone understands; he's not one to leave anyone behind. This man is an easy A.
He is a good teacher. Yes, he does go off subject sometimes, however he does know his stuff :) He teaches you in a different way, but makes it easy to understand, and makes you want to learn. I personally like him, he is funny, and a good person.
This instuctor knows what his is doing and can make your life easier by sharing his knowledge in a fresh manner. He is a rare math teacher in that he had a tolerant attitude toward students who need help.
Professor was boring and gave random quizzes during the last 10 minutes of class, but I did well in the class because it was easy. He's not an AWFUL teacher, but he's not fantastic either.
BORING!! I think I had 3 questions all quarter! Just look at the book's examples, don't listen to him, do your work in class, and be sure you can pass his quizes and tests. About 1 quiz every 3 sections and 1 test every 2 chapters! Easiest class at Clark! I think I tested low on the math asset test.
If you can get past the chalk on the pants, his little shuffle from chalkboard to chalkboard, and lame jokes, it's actually a pretty okay class. I fell like I'm doing a ton of homework only because this is all new to me. I enjoy it.
The easist class ive ever taken in my whole life. I barely went to class and still pulled an A. Read the book because he makes everything seem harder then it needs to be.
He is a very good teacher. After taking his class i gained confidence in maths.I highly recomend him.He makes maths seem so easy. His tests and quizes are on the easier side. Try to be attentive in the class and you will come out with flying colors.Take him if you are scared of maths, you will end up loving it. Excelent instructor.

My first math teacher at Clark, and I thought he was bad until I suffered through some of the others. He's actually good at explaining, willing to take time to help students, and eager for people to understand the concepts. Lots of homework, but you'll be glad you did it. Tests are not difficult. I wish he were teaching calculus!
Burden is the worst math teacher I have ever had. He is late to class everyday and gives you 5 min at the end of class to complete a quiz. He spends more time talking about things that have 0 to do with math and telling the most retarded jokes. He puts 7-8 questions on a test, so you better not miss any, or you're screwed.
Everyone on here is way to hard on Mr. Burden. He is an excellent teacher. He makes sure everyone learns the concepts. His class is an easy A if you just pay attention! His grading policy is pretty easy also, quizes are a piece of cake, and exams are on the easier side. He will tell you what material will be covered on the exams ahead of time. C'mo
I thought Burden was an ok teacher. not the best, but by far not the worst! has quizzes after lecture so that there wasn't that strict of a time limit. I did the last bit of h/w three weeks ahead of schedule, didn't touch my book the rest of the time and passed 2 exams and the final. very good if your getting into math after a break. rants a little
He strayed for the point at hand alot but only to relevant topics, like what language certian words came from, it actually kept it intresesting to me, wish it fit right with my other classes so I could take him next quarter
EASIEST MATH I'VE EVER HAD!!! The man is strange, but I've never had an easier time. Honestly, half the time I don't even pay attention and I still have an A. He gives 2-3 question quizzes he makes himself. Only takes the top 5 quiz scores and you get at least 10 quizzes. EASY! READ MY WORDS! EASY!
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. if you get stuck in this class, get out. not helpful, waste of time. he has no idea what he's talking about and is unorganized.
At first it really doesn't make any sense, but if you do your homework for the first half of the quarter he stops looking at it. His quizzes are easy, and his final is a walk in the park. Everyone thinks he doesn't know what he's talking about, ultimately though just pay attention it'll be easy then.
They guy is unorganized and goes off random tangents which makes him get behind on his lessons. He's also the only professor I've encountered at Clark that assigned every odd problem in the section. So you'll have 1-95 odds to do every day. Most of the problems are monotonous and menial. He assigns you HW before he gives the lesson! DO NOT TAKE!
Moron needs to stick to teaching lower end classes. He keeps assigning homework before he teaches it. Then when he tries to teach it, he can't teach it. Don't waste your time.
he was an ok teacher, not super easy but not hard either. you can skip all the homework and still get an A
BE READY TO TEACH YOURSELF THE SECTIONS! He was a boring teacher, he tried to be funny but he wasnt. The reviews are similar to the test which was the best part about the whole class!
HORRIBLE FOR 103 ( Trig). Not clear at all. Be prepared to teach yourself. All examples shown are the examples in the book, no extra examples. TEACHES THE BOOK to the extreme. BOOK BOOK BOOK. Most of his white-board work is wrong, and he is constantly being corrected by STUDENTS. Horrible experiance, has me terrified to attempt more math.
Has a hard time keeping to subject. Very hard to understand. Not that great of people skills.
He isnt really good at teaching he doesnt answer questions and will go over things and then say oh never mind thats wrong, very spacey doesnt like to explain things to a t for a clear understanding for this level and tells u to read the book and the book isnt clear. Get a different teacher
First off he is very laxed about homework. I never finished one assignment and never got docked on points. I showed up late alot and never got questioned. He cannot explain math to save his life and goes into tangents that have nothing to do with teaching. Tests are easy and the final was a joke. But avoid if you are not math savvy.
I took him for Math 090,Math 095,and Trig. He does go off on tangents, but it didn't bother me. I found a lot of his jokes to be funny, but then again I am sort of a nerd myself. Tests are very straight-forward. Never allowed us to have notes but if he thought we needed a formula he would provide it. Ask him how to spell "fish" sometime!
Goes off on tangents a lot but he has some funny jokes. Good teaching style. Good at answering questions. Test are really well written. Not confusing at all. Doesn't really check homework.
If you enjoy math and like figuring out math problems on your own, take this class. Overall the teacher is okay, his lectures are a bit confusing. He assigns homework every night and check the homework randomly. The exams are not to challenging but he does give out random quiz's, so do your h.w. and be ready to teach yourself Math 111
Avoid this professor at all costs. I could write a novel with all the reasons, but I will limit myself to their causes instead. He loosely follows his syllabus, he doesn't have a lesson plan and wastes valuable class time, he is sometimes late for class, he cannot do math, and I could've learned everything in his syllabus with my book and youtube.
AWFUL teacher, does not know how to teach, or explain math. Run from this teacher. Why does Clark College let him teach? He goes off on rants daily almost the whole class time, for example: talking about lemon and chocolate pies (he was teaching fractions and drew pies).
Not the best teacher in the world, but one of the better ones at Clark. Math is practice, practice and more practice and you get that in his class with the homework. If you know the homework cold you will be fine. I'm sure he's brighter than he appears. Nice guy. There are way worse in Clark's Math Dept. I would take his class again.
hard to understand, does not give clear definite answers to student questions. makes numerous errors that students correct,(not sure if it is on purpose or not). ALOT of homework, but it is practice.
I had to take a math class to finish off my AA, so I thought a class like Business Calculus would be nice because you can apply it to real world situations. Unfortunately Burden may be the most difficult teacher to interact with. He goes off topic and makes stupid jokes all the time. Just.. a totaly waste of my time, I haven't learned anything.
Funny guy. If you like math you will like him. If you hate math well, good luck finding a math teacher you'll enjoy. He is the upper percentile of other math teachers at Clark that(there are plenty that suck).
Second time I had him. If you do the homework, evens and odds, attend class, make sure you show up for test review you will be okay. Very available to students. You could do a lot worse at Clark.
As someone who is a bit intimidated by math-- this teacher is the BEST I could have hoped for. He is clear, concise and very helpful. His class is fun and not intimidating at all. If you are looking for a serious, stuffy math class- this isn't it. If you are looking for a good teacher who will help you pass math- he is it.
Burden is a good math teacher, and goes over problems in different ways until students get it. The tests are not too difficult, but be sure you have practiced the concepts. If you are having trouble understanding, go to the tutoring center and it will really help your grade. Homework is not checked for accuracy, but be sure to do it as practice.
wow these reviews really surprised me. i thought greg burden was hilarious, smart, helpful, and very clear. i loved the grading structure of the class. i would highly recommend him!
I liked Greg. He is very helpful if you are having problems and you give him problems to review. Do your homework and you should do well in class.
I really enjoyed Burden. He has a entertaining & unique sense of humor. He has a different view on math than most instructors. His tests and quizzes are very short and they test on the basics of the lessons. I would take him again.
good teacher. takes the time to really explain questions when asked. stay up on the material and you will do fine.
In my opinion, Greg is one of the better math teachers at Clark. He takes his time and goes at a good pace. The tests are fair and easy if you study the material. The only problem I had was that some of the homework assigned contained things that were never covered in class, however the homework is not graded for accuracy.
HE knows a lot about math, but doesn't teach it well. He gets off subject a lot and it gets confusing. I mostly taught myself out of the book. Overall, it wasn't too hard. Pop quizzes and tests aren't too bad and homework is mandatory.
Greg Burden is a decent person. He cracks a lot of corny jokes and wanders off topic quite a bit but the class was very easy. His tests were like his quizzes but with the numbers different. Most of his lectures were pretty boring, and I ended up taking notes from the book, and doing homework while he was off track. Ended up being a "meh" class.
You are assigned to do a section of the homework each day (graded), if you do the homework and understand the concepts you should be good. There are pop quizzes but he only keeps the top 5 scores. There are 4 exams and one final so there is a test every 2 weeks and a review day before each test with no homework. He will answer any question you ask
Burden does a good job of teaching the basics of trigonometry, but lacks the ability to teach well beyond the simple ideas. He only tests you on the easy things though so it's not hard to do well. I taught myself out of the book for the majority of the quarter but I still learned enough to hopefully do well in calculus. Pretty easy class overall.
Easy tests and quizzes. Just make sure you study a little bit. Homework is LONG but he only check to make sure everything is answered, so it does not matter if it is correct.
BEWARE! Do NOT take math with him. He understands about as much as you do walking into this class. He is NOT helpful at all! If you ask a question or you're confused, he'll either laugh at you or ignore you. Don't even bother coming to class, you'll understand more from this class by reading out of the book and teaching yourself.
It was hard to stay awake in his class, but he explained everything thoroughly and helped if you needed it.
Just DO Not take him!!!!
An incredibly terrible professor. He has spent on multiple occasions up to half hour of class time on a problem that he actually does not know the answer to and then tells us to google it at home. He's unmotivating and obviously thinks his students are stupid cause its not high level math. I don't want to see anyone subjected to this class ever.
Greg Burden is a dyslexic math teacher. In class Burden would spend 20% of the class time working on a problem, only to notice that he had the numbers mixed up the whole time. He once spent all of class on a single problem, to then realize the didn't know the answer so he told the class to simply, "Google the answer." I would not recommend.
Nice guy but simply doesn't know how to teach. He would take the entire class time going over 1 to 2 problems which he would often get confused on. Doesn't take control of the classroom Either which made it very hard to concentrate because there were 10 conversations going on.. Expect HOURS of homework per night that you will have to teach yoursel
Very poor professor. He gets confused on his own problems and examples, so students often have to explain them for him. You won't have any clue on how to do the homework because of this, and when he does attempt to explain problems, he explains them too quickly without showing any work or context as to what he is solving. Would not recommend.
Burden was definitely an experience... If you read the book and can learn with little assistance then this is the class for you. His lectures are very scattered and he usually took the whole class period doing 2-3 problems. His tests are fairly easy if you understand the homework. He is good at grading your assignments and giving them back to you.
Greg is a good person just not a good teacher. He gets distracted easily and goes on about random facts. Normally stuff that doesn't even pertain to the class. ALthough he's really confusing if you know your math, the class is really easy.
This was by far the hardest class I've ever taken. I went into this class confident and by about the fourth week the material go so hard and confusing it was hard to keep up with such a fast pace. He's a very hard grader on all of the exams, and gives pop quizzez about once a week as well. Also, expect long homework assignments everyday.
He doesn't even teach you. He literally just assigns homework, does like one problem as an example and sends you on your way. When you get home you will have hours of homework because YOU END UP TEACHING YOURSELF! If you take him expect to be learning from the book because not only does he not teach you, he isn't on campus to help if you need it.
He gives pop quizzes but only keeps your highest 5 scores (out of 8-10), so you can do poorly on a few and still be ok. His exams are 1 problem from each section, and he gives partial credit if you get the final answer wrong. He gives full credit for homework even if you only do half the problems. You have to ask for clarification if you need it.
I had to teach myself out of the book the entire quarter, I felt like going to class was a complete waste of time. Although he is funny, he does not teach a single thing and often gets lost in his own problems. He is hard to follow and a little disorganized. Was disrespectful & unprofessional with me several times.
If you struggle with math, don't take Math from this professor. Does not seem to care about student success. Has pop quizzes weekly. Everyday in class he says "You will not need this on the test but..." or "You will not need this for this class but..."
I had Burden last quarter. I thought I did well on every test to only be hit in the face with a bad grade every time. I attended his class every day, and I basically taught myself from the book. He strays from the topic a lot, and he really messed me up. I have to retake 90 now, because I didn't pass his class. I'm really disappointed.
He says attendance is mandatory, but he never took attendance to be honest. I can see where some people might not like his humor or personality, but I really learned a lot from him. Math has never been my strongest or favorite subject, but I actually enjoyed this class. I felt like he really prepared us for the tests and there were no surprises.
Burden is a nice man. On several occasions, I had questions about the material and he would answer very vaguely or move on if he didnt know the answer. He can take a whole 50 minute class to answer one problem and sometimes wont even finish it. Theres only 3 tests so you have to do extremely well on each because he doesnt take assignments.
Burden is nice but that's also one of his big downsides. There's no discipline in his class, instead he'll attempt to tell a joke. Attendance definitely felt optional as we would cover basic things like perimeter for weeks without learning anything. 3 tests total, and poor grading legibility. There's no structure at all, and he gives no feedback.
Burden is definitely my least favorite teacher thus far. Spent a whole class discussing one problem to himself in the most difficult way possible. Didnt encourage participation and I spent the class completing other homework. Grade based solely on 3 tests so if you arent a good test taker good luck!
Mr. Burden was a great professor. He was willing to help if you needed it. Participation in class definitely mattered. If you participated, you would get a better understanding of what was going on. I really enjoyed Mr. Burden's sense of humor, and the way he rabbit trailed in class.
Mr. Burder is a really great professor, for those who like slow math classes, he would do step by step 3 examples in the class making them really easy to learn, but for those who love math and are fast learners is probably going to be a boring class. He also is really fair with quizzes and exams, they are usually super easy if you do the homework.
Had to teach myself every single thing. He knows how to make you feel dumb if you ask a question. Don't know how I managed an A because I was only graded on 3 tests. Overall, the worst experience I've had in a class. He couldn't care less about any of his students and that showed through his acts.
He didn't give feedback on quizzes or exams. Depends on textbook to much. Confusing lectures, he doesn't explain the subject, expects you to understand everything within a day.
I love Burden. His teaching style is very unusual, however it's amazing!!!! The class is an easy A as long as you do the homework, and go to class. I probably missed class twice the quarter, because I was sick. He does do pop quizzes you can;t make up. He makes learning math easy, I wish he taugh 103 or 151 so I could have him again. He's also funy
Greg is an okay professor. He knows how to do what he is teaching and will help you through a problem if you dont understand. Class can be boring, as he mainly just takes the entire class doing a few problems from the textbook and making bad jokes. I mainly taught myself from the book. Gives pop quizzes usually once a week.
1. Tries to make abstract connections to the topic and the math involved, it doesn't work and confuses him and the students 2. Be ready to correct his mistakes written on the board, he makes quite a few of them throughout the lecture 3. Condescending at times toward students 4. Wastes time during lecture Read your textbook, ignore the lecture.
I really enjoyed his class and he is extremely knowledgeable in mathematics. He explained things in ways I could understand and the lectures weren't boring. There's a lot of homework but as long as you do it you get full credit and it's enough practice to where you will do good on the tests. I got an A in the class after not taking math for 8 years
While the material was review for me, he made it so much more confusing and difficult than it should have been. He does not know how to teach and does not answer questions very well. Be prepared to teach yourself entirely. A friend who took a different class from him had similar complaints.
One of my favorite math teachers, very understanding especially with disability related services. Easy to talk to and a math genius! He would get lost off subject sometimes and was all over the place but he is old but smart and knows his math!
He tries to make it entertaining, as much as math can be. Not difficult and hes an easy going guy. Squirrels a lot but its funny and keeps everyone awake. Plan on taking him next term again!
he has a different teaching style and he 'squirrels' a lot but overall he cares about the subject and tries to teach it to the class in a way they would understand.
terrible online instructor. videos of relevant material are posted ONE DAY before our boatload of homework is due. no syllabus, hard to find class info. first day of class: no videos ready for us to get started with material. our hw system was in the wrong time zone marking us late. do not take him as an online instructor
This feedback will be the online class only. Mr. Burden is not completely up to date with technology, which he admitted from the beginning of the quarter. He makes himself readily available to help if it is needed. A LOT of homework so be prepared. Do the work and you'll get the grade you want. TIP: ask for the practice quizzes they help A LOT!
