Awesome teacher, great explanations!
Explains things great with good explanations
Good at answering questions, but better at answering questions if you're a chemistry major. Very supportive and encouraging!
dr. crouch is an excellent professor. he and dr. jones did a spectacular job teacher a very difficult subject. his lectures/peer groups/etc. work very well. one gripe: don't expect ANY help when it comes to grading.

Wow. Dr. Crouch screwed the whole class with the final. There was an F average and no Curve! I was hopeing for a B+ and after 11 hours of studying, ended up with a C- for the semester. He gave no study guides or pratice exams or any guidance for studying. There is a ton of work in this class.
Crouch was extremely helpfull if you ever needed further clarification, and made himself very available for students when needed. Overall, he was awesome for a tough course.
Extremely difficult tests.
Crouch was very clear in his lectures and tried to make sure we understood everything...but this is a difficult class. It is ORGANIC after all! The only way to get a good grade in that class is to take it into your own hands to understand the material and read the book. Otherwise you're screwed.
Good prof... slower than most profs in covering material. Easy to understand so go to lecture. If you go to all the lectures you will get a B or better!

He was an excellent professor that made every effort to help you understand, but only if you were engaged, so ask questions. He made grades swing to your advantage. He was very clear and to the point.
He is very nice and his lectures are easy to understand, but his test were harder than I expected, in spite of that, he is a fair grader and is really willing to help. Overall, a great chemistry teacher.
Really nice guy. Very helpful. Exams were easy. Best chemistry professor.
Organic chemistry is difficult but Dr. Crouch did his best to make it easier and more fun. He knows his material and he can relate to the students very well. The Buffy references were funny.
crouch was a decent teacher, but he offered absolutely no assistance outside of class, excent to make you feel like an idiot. the lab TA's are a huge help.
Great professor! And WOW! those eyes, what a cutie
Crouch is an amazing prof! If you really want to learn the material take this class! He puts time and effort into the class, and just wants his students to understand organic. I studied alot but it was worth it!
Crouch is probably the best O-Chem teacher, his lectures are clear and easy to follow.
very well done for a hard class like organic
Kind as Crouch is, the O-chem at this institution is close to impossible to pass unless you have hours to study DAILY, which is unrealistic to many students. I wanted to learn all of the available material online, in class, & in lab, but it was simply too much for 1 semester. Take it at community college if you can. You won't feel like a chem-bot!
Despite what some people will say, this class is NOT impossible to pass, in fact it's much easier to understand than CHEM 106. Crouch does try to help students, and the homework was really easy. His labs were even fun at times, and made the general class work easier to understand.
If he was anything, he was fair about his grading. I tanked the first two exams (67 and 71) then worked really hard on the last 2 and final and ended up with an A-. He wanted the students to understand and do well and it showed with the class average (B-).
This guy knows his stuff and presents it well. He strives to make the material easy to understand and never turns down questions. You definitely have to study for the tests: O-Chem is full of details
I've heard he's the best of the O.Chem professors. He's pretty easy to follow. he's not the nicest person in the world, but he's a pretty good teacher.
hes ok just his tests are pretty tough
good teacher
asome!!!
Crouch is too smart of a prof. Lectures are moderately helpful as long as you get your nomenclature down the first 2 weeks. Crouch begins lecturing at a higher level of understanding after those 2 weeks & thus makes it difficult to follow along after. The material is difficult & TAs are harder to contact than in GenChem. So GOOD LUCK & Pray hard.
This guy made me hate chemistry!! My experience with this professor has been AWFUL. He has made me feel like a complete idiot the times I've asked him questions.
HORRIBLE class! Crouch humiliates students and demeans them in front of the entire lecture when they ask questions. He asks if there are any questions and students are too afraid to pipe up because they don't want to be eviscerated. No homework makes learning the material a nightmare and your grade consists of labs and tests. Good luck to all.

If he were more organized this class would have been a lot better. Even writing headers before writing mechanism on the board would have been exteremely helpful so that we would know what he was even talking about. Reading the textbook, piece by piece, is absolutely necessary. Its impossible to ask questions in class without feeling like an idiot.
Absolutely the best teacher you will ever have! He will do anything to help you understand O-chem! Wouldn't have any other O-Chem teacher! Take him!
I just want to say that I'm surprised this guy has so many good reviews! He can be very rude at times.
The material for this course is very challenging, and he moves through it very quickly. Reading the book helps to supplement the information from lecture. He is not very receptive of questions during class as he acts like everything is blatantly obvious.
Very rigorous class, as others have indicated, but plenty of chances for extra points on labs to make up for the inevitable points lost on exams. However, I do agree that Crouch kinda shoots himself in the foot when he asks for any questions, and is then surprised when nobody has any...we're just scared to ask because he'll act like we're dumb.
He is one of the best teachers I have had. If you take the time to go to office hours and speak with him or the TAs when you need help, this class is very do-able. I will say that it is a tough class be that is to be expected. Also, I did have to study for this class much more than I have had to for any other class, but I felt accomplished.
I found crouch to be an alright teacher but the tests are ridiculously hard almost to the point where it is just mean. If the tests were made a little easier I think the class would be fine. Expect to study about 10 times more for this class then chem 106.
Lectures pretty interesting but he went way too fast & isn't great at instruction...he gives lots of examples instead of explaining concepts better. Make sure you go back and actually UNDERSTAND what's going on/why. If you have a basic understanding, make flashcards & start memorizing early, you'll do just fine. Tests aren't too bad, labs are fun.
He's a very good teacher, but as stated before, no one really asks questions because he's terrible at answering them, he strays from your question to information he just provided from his lecture and doesn't seem to think outside the box when answering questions, and he can be initimidating when you ask questions he doesn't understand.
Greg Crouch is a fantastic professor. He moves very quickly, so taking constant notes is essentially required, but he is very friendly and willing to explain any difficult concepts. His tests were relatively easy if you had a basic understanding on the concepts being taught, and the labs were fun. Overall his classes have a very laidback atmosphere
A very good teacher, although having good TA's to back him help a lot. The course is difficult, lots of studying is required along with studying properly. He gives you a good idea of the format of the exams. Hardest part is solving the synthesis and mechanism problems, repeated practice and creativity is required to do well on these problems...
Hard class, but you would expect it to be with any teacher. He teaches the material very well and if you come to class and take notes you wont have too much trouble. Homework is optional and is just for test preparation. Overall a very nice and clear instructor.
The subject is very challenging but Crouch in an awesome prof. He explains everything as well as he can and he really knows his stuff. He's very willing to help students and answer questions. His lectures are always useful, DO NOT MISS ONE. He understands that Organic chem makes our brains feel like scrambled eggs and does what he can to help us.
Fun but hard class, very interesting.
good professor, hard course. if you can involve in a study group and spend more than 40% of your time on this single class, you will be good(i mean >B+). memorize the pKa and the common names at the beginning of the semester!
This class is virtually impossible; and Professor Crouch prides himself on his class being this way. He gives his old exams for studying; and then writes an exam nothing like the old exams. His exams have gotten progressively harder; and he is not very open to helping you- he will refer you to the TA. Avoid this class if at all possible!
This class is difficult and time consuming, but it is possible to do well. I recommend keeping up on the non-graded worksheets and taking them all to the TA's to check. Dr. Crouch, in my opinion, is tough but fair.
Everyone who disses Crouch does not actually talk to him outside of lecture. He is very nice and willing to help you. His one downfall is that he assumes you know more then you actually do. To do well in this course, do worksheets, study hard, and abuse the TA's. He curves majorily at the end.
Lets put it this way, I got a C on the first test, D on the second test and a low F on the third test and a B - in lab and it curved out to a C overall. His tests are nothing like the book. It's like knowing addition but having to learn multiplication during the test. The point of a test is to evaluate one's knowledge, not learn while testing.
Difficult material. Go to class. Memorize pKa values and 'common nomenclature' early on. Practice all previous exams.
A very tough teacher but he explains things well in lecture. Just be sure to pay attention to the name of each reaction. Helpful in office hours and he has a good sense of humor!
Dr. Crouch is a great professor, and he does care about students and wants to see people succeed. Yes, this course is a tough course, but it is also very interesting if you apply yourself and study frequently. Class is very fair and tests are totally fair, just make sure to study. Totally recommend him as a professor!
I love Crouch he is a great teacher. you cant just never make it to class and expect an A he is tough but one of the best teachers I ever had
class was helpful sometimes but he goes too fast. In addition, he need to respect his student!!
Professor Crouch is a good professor, he really wants you to do well and makes it possible. The problem with the class is there there are students who want to learn and will put effort in (who will do very well in the class). Then there are people just trying to get a C and wont put in effort, these are the students who say the class is unfair.
Great prof. Very quirky and presents a lot of interesting info that won't be on the tests, but is still relevant. I loved Ochem, but I also had prior experience. Tests were very fair. Many previous tests are made accessible and are definitely the best study tool. I only studied Ochem the week before exams by going over every past test. Got a 98%.

Tests were difficult, but he gave tons of examples. Also lots of synthesis. Problem solving section is just a grade buffer.
O-Chem is the hardest class I've taken in my college career. Dr. Crouch comes off as very condescending and rude in class, but the TA's are amazing at their job! I really liked lab, but struggled through lecture and the tests. Skimming the chapter would be helpful for keeping up in lecture, and use the old exams to study for your tests!
Crouch is an extremely smart guy. Everything you need to know is in his lectures, but you better write fast. The best thing about him was his use of the whiteboard 100% of the time so he would do every rxn along with you. I wish I had him for Ochem II as well
I took Crouch for Ocher I & II, and both were quite difficult, but towards the end of Ocher II, everything seemed to click. Some advice I would give is to remember the pka table and reaction page (it is easier than it seem) because it is worth about 50% of the exams, the rest can be learned from the old exams. Just get prepared to study.
He is a great teacher and does everything he can to break down the material for you. It's not his fault the material of ochem is so damn difficult!
Crouch is a great professor and a great guy in general. The course is very hard and he does his best to make sure everyone understands the material. His grading system is set up to give you the best grade. This course takes a lot of work, but if you put effort into it getting an A is possible.
Probably the worst class I have ever taken. I had a 3.9 GPA and had never gotten below a 79% (and that was in calculus) yet these exams are the worst written and graded I have ever taken. Expect no partial credit or feedback. Tests are based on the OLD textbook not the new one. Also if he says not to study something, study it. It's on the test.
study his old exams for practice, memorize his slides, go to lecture ,make note cards from the reaction sheet. Do all of your homework, and labs in the Chem tutoring center, the TA's are very helpful. Turn in the labs early and you will pass this class, probably with a at least a B. This class is all about time management.
It's organic chem... It is definitely not an easy class. Professor Crouch is definitely intelligent and knows his stuff, but he can come off kind of harsh to the students. Be prepared to work and study. Go see TAs!
Easily my favorite teacher. He explains things very clearly. If you're confused, he won't move on until you understand. He is extremely approachable if you have questions. I took both 345 and 348 with him and am currently taking 542 with him. His expectations are clear for tests if you just go over old exams and study ALL mechanisms and reactions.
Never emails back. Ever. Super frustrating. And he sounds really mad and talks harshly to students who ask questions. He assumes we should know everything but if we knew it we wouldn't be asking questions. Class grade is 70% based off test scores and there's literally only 2 tests and a final. So hard.
O Chem is just a hard subject alone and I'm not sure there's any way to teach it that would make it easy. His lecture slides are really disorganized and hard to follow. He provides old exams for practice. Barely used the textbook because it didn't help me understand. Basically taught my own way through this class by watching youtube videos.
OCHEM is hard class already, 2nd best CHEM345 professor, teaches CHEM348 so take him if you are going to go to 348, post video of lecture, clear and understandable lectures. Utilizes variety of method to make student understand, helpful, very caring, nice, may seem tough but deep down he is really nice, vist his office hours.
Dr. Crouch is one of the best professors I have had at WSU thus far. He is boring in 345 but you get to see his true colors in 348. His exams are extremely difficult but but not impossible if you go to his office hrs. and put in the work. His is teaching future doctors so expect the exams to be rigorous. you will be forced to think outside the box
Dr. Crouch has made OChem very easy since it is my second time taking it. His class is structured so that everything is cumulative and there are only a few new concepts added. Everything is graded by TAs. Make sure to ask them questions.
Dr. Crouch definitely knows his stuff. But he kind of comes off as we should be able to do everything he puts in front of us as soon as he teaches it. His tests are very difficult and honestly the lab and homework section saves a lot of people. I only had him for 348 and his expectations were very high.
Great prof. Extremely accessible outside of class. Can come across like he thinks you're an idiot but when you get to know him he is super nice and really does want you to do well. Tests are always heavily based off the provided old exams. He has a great dry sense of humor that keeps lectures interesting. Happy I have him for 348!
Great, knowledgeable OChem teacher. Willing to help and very accessible outside class. Highly experience professor in teaching Ochem. He can come off as condescending, but he really isn't. He really wants you to understand the material and better prepare you for the future. Ochem is hard, and there is no way getting around it.
Amazing, funny professor! Only had him for Chem 348 but wish I would have had him for 345 too. He's accessible outside of class, gives great lectures, and is always willing to answer questions. If you're willing to work for your grade, he is there to help you. I feel blessed to have had a professor like him for one of the most difficult subjects.
I took chem 103/104 before this and thought it would be easy. Nope! But that doesn't mean he is unreasonable! Went to office hours a lot to get help after receiving a 70 on 1st exam. (4.0 student). Best way to study? Notecards by chapter to study little by little and review HWs. Last exams I got 92, 100, and 86 on final. He will help if you ask!!
Dr Crouch is an amazing professor, he really works hard to try and get this difficult class taught in a way that the students understand, but the exams... holy sh!t the exams in this class were some of the HARDEST exams I've ever done. Difficult class, great professor
So boring, definitely recommend watching Berkman's videos if you're in Crouch's class.
Greg himself is a great guy and tries to get you to know the material, especially in a class that has 300 students, but while the tests rip questions directly from the homework, you mainly need to know REACTION TABLES. He stated the final would be mostly new chapter (8-9-10) material, yet only 1 or 2 out of 20 subchapters of each really showed up.
