Professor Dixon is an AMAZING professor and I am not just saying that. He listens to his students and although his lectures are long, they are actually inspirational and what he has to say is important and Seriously show up to the class, it is not that hard. If you don't show up you will miss what is going on. Professor Dixon is awesome. just sayin
Professor Dixon is the best professor I've ever had. His lectures are funny, clear, and interesting; his papers fun, difficult, and intriguing. His course is suited for the student, the difficult papers first, since he knows we have other finals at the end of the semester. He's a cynic with a dry and quirky humor to suit the English language.
I can honestly say I don't like the fact that this guy was my teacher. VAGUE EXPLAINER! A lot is online and if you're like me, you might not check up on that that much. The class is pretty confusing. On the plus side, you actually get to communicate with your peers and get to know them.
Awesome time! I had a lot of fun!
Awesome prof lots of cool stories
I really enjoyed his sense of humor, and looked forward to going to his class. The assigned papers were fun to write. I enjoyed the one on one conferences where we received personal feedback on our work and writing so far. I found him to be brilliant, hilarious, and inspirational. Hands down my favorite class and professor this semester.
Prof. Dixon is a good teach and if you show up and pay attention you should be able to get an A. He is caring and gives great feed back on your papers that you write.
This Professor is awesome, and very encouraging as well as he is very caring about his students.
He is kind and considerate. Good Prof, I recommend you take him if you can.
Really cool guy, you only use the book once or twice, very easy class and only have to do two projects
just show up and do the little bit of work he asks and its a easy grade
Greg Dixon is a very fun, outgoing, and easy teacher. Doesn't really give a lot of homework but as long as you show up to class you'll be good.
He is a great teacher you just need to make sure that you get your stuff done on time. and don't talk and be on your phone a lot.
He cracks some good jokes, the lessons are fun , some communication errors, make sure to clarify due dates
Dr. Dixon was a really cool teacher and he does not always go by the textbooks like every other professor and he sometime gives you extra credit because he wants all his students to pass the class. He all about humor, he not a very serious person and his grade system is not super hard.
Dr. Dixon was a really good guy, Also if you just show up to class you will pass. He does not give test he just makes you write essays.(but not a lot though)

He all about humor, he not a very serious person and his grade system is not super hard. He also a super nice person.
This is a really easy class. This class was the easiest thing I have ever taken in my 13 years of schooling. Prof Dixon is great, nice man, can't stay on topic...I think he might have A.D.D. But it's not that noticeable. All you are going to do, is get to know everyone, and write papers that aren't even that long

He all about humor, he not a very serious person and his grade system is not super hard. He also a super nice person. Also, he very people orientated.
At first I did not enjoy his class, but once I understood that he just wanted respect, and I learned how to simplify what he was asking, I started to enjoy his class. He is great at answering questions! I feel like I achieved a lot after finishing his class.
Class was very laid back, and easy to get a good grade if you put forth the effort.
Professor Dixon may speak a lot but his lectures are not boring. He is funny and witty and makes a lot of interesting points. As long as you actually try in this class, you'll be golden.
Professor Dixon is a really good professor because he is really specific and he pays a lot attention to detail
Awesome Professor and would definitely take his class again.
Takes a while to get things graded sometimes. Should be an online class because everything we do in class is on the computer. Very picky grader on certain things. Does let you correct some assignments so that you can get 100%.
I really enjoyed this class. It challenged me and I was able to become a better writer.
Every class is filled with humor and fun/interesting topics/discussions. He made the class interesting.
He is one of the best Professors/Teachers I have ever had. He is not the fastest grader, but he is very understanding and really does want you to learn and be ready for the real world. I loved the different group based projects and using the blogs. It was a lot different than the other courses, but it is a great one.
I enjoyed this class. It was a lot of computer work, he talks very little sometimes. He gives out directions and after that we are on our own. He is pretty clear on what he wants on his assignments.
He is not very specific. Be sure to ask him questions. If you talk to him about the assignments you will be more successful.
Professor Dixon has been the best Professor I had this semester. He understands and actually care and want his students to succeed. He also will help you with anything. if you actually understand and take his class serious, it will not be hard to pass
you are a good professor plus you our my favorite teacher from high school's brother. so thank you for giving me good feed back on my pro folio's.
Super cool teacher.
I really enjoyed this professor, i felt like he made the class topics things i actually wanted to write about.
He will talk to you one on one about your grades.
He is a very realistic teacher, if you don't care he won't care about you failing. He helps you if you need help or have questions about making something better. If you miss more than two consecutive classes you will be confused.
professor Dixon is Defiently a very good teacher all the way around the board.
This class was awesome and the professor was hilarious.
Good professor that is very understanding when mistakes are made and gives second chances. I would highly recommend taking a course with this professor as you will receive in A in the class with any effort at all.
I love it when he gets sarcastic, but for the most part he's pretty nice.
It was an interesting class since the things that were totally new had nothing to do with writing.
Cool dude. Smarter than he lets on.
He doesn't micromanage, which is cool.
Very unorganized and kind of comical that he declares himself a writing professor. Most, if not all of his emails are sent with little capitalization, very few marks of punctuation, and almost always a misspelled word or two. He did not put out lesson plans until a day before something was due and then blamed us students for not having things done.
Class was easy if you show up and follow directions
Great Teacher Would Recommend To Anyone
He's a great guy and the focus is sustainability.
He has been awesome! I wish I could take him another year.
He was okay as a professor the only issue I had with him was he would always have a deadlines to early for projects that needs to be a little longer.
Not really organized... there was not really any deadlines just when ever he felt like he wanted them..... work easy... theirs a lot of group projects... got to come for final or it brings your grade down.
Things I liked about Professor Dixon: - He has a think outside the box teaching style - You learn less about grammar and more about formatting, proper referencing, and real life writing/project comprehension Things I disliked: - He is not always clear on what exactly needs to be done and what you will be graded on. Extra effort is required here.
He is very nice and funny at times but talks a lot and doesn't give enough information about projects. He is a great professor and lets us have time to get the work done so that we can pass the class.
Prof. Dixon is a good teacher but he takes a while to grade papers and you never know how much each assignment is worth.
I really liked him. He had humor, he respected his students, all around a cool guy. Not too hard to work with, pretty chill. Team based learning is his thing !
Majority of large projects are group assignments. If you don't like group work don't take the class. Other than that, the class is fairly easy as long as you show up and do your work. However, instruction isn't always clear.
I found Prof. Dixon to be a really good teacher. He had a reasonable amount of work. He graded heavily on the big papers and the final drafts, but he let you make a few learning mistakes on little papers and rough drafts. Overall, I was pleased with my online comp 1 class.
I figured out this teacher wants his students to respect him and just try. After that, I understood him better. I was overwhelmed when I thought I had to remember all of the reading - and the computer with the screen was difficult. Really just focus on the papers and try your best. Talk to your classmate. I don't know if I would take him again.
I am all done with my undergraduate years but I think of Greg Dixon as one of my top professors. He was passionate, researched all the students' topics we wrote papers about, and furthered my critical thinking skills. He was super helpful in office hours too.
He's absolutely hilarious, funny, caring, and genuine. He makes it easy to get to know class mates. The work load is so easy you get it done in class every time. Most of the time we don't really do much and if we do, you turn it in that day.
AWESOME TEACHER! Workload is manageable. Not a tough grader, cares about you passing. (He's funny)
A technical grader, but as long as you follow guidelines on rubrics, you will do perfect in class.
Prof. Dixon was tough do not take it if you are a guy.
Good teacher and grades the more important things, still a few little things from early on that aren't graded.
Overall a fair Professor. He seems to grade on your place on the alphabet and how much he likes you. If you need your hand held through every assignment find a different professor. He will encourage you to be more independent.
Hes ok
Went off on tangents that didn't really pertain to the lesson or projects we were working on and he wouldn't explain what he wanted to be done and explain how things were going to go. But he's a great conversationalist as long as it's not about english. If you can understand what he wants without him explaining it to you, then take the class.
Very nice
Requires participation, but will be flexible with assignments
He gave good feedback and gave everyone an equal opportunity to get help, get extra credit and talk to him about improvements.
hes a pretty cool teacher but the way he teaches doesnt go amazingly well with my way of learning... funny tho!
He's really laid back, but as long as you do what you're told, you will be fine in the class overall.
I really liked this course, I appreciate the research focus and teaching us to think for ourselves. The work was sometimes difficult but he gave time lines to when it was expected to be done and helped you if you needed it.
The teacher worked really well with my bus schedule, he gives "optional" days which is helpful. The assignments are fun to do.
Not hard just do the essays and writing work and you will be fine
He's a great teacher overall and is a good teacher for freshmen to have when they first come to college
Great guy, simple class if you just show up.
Its a good class, you write papers and they are good topics
Not hard at all! He likes to make you collaborate and work together. He is very open minded and tries to understand your point of view when reading your work. Gives great feedback!
Easy A. Show up to class for free points. No tests or quizzes. Didn't need to buy textbook. Will be taking next course from Dixon.
Dr Dixon is a great teacher. Nice guy, and fun
Great professor, I am taking him in two consecutive semester because I enjoyed him so much. He is a very easy B and if you just show up it is an easy A. There are not any tests, there are only a few papers for grades and they are not above 1,000 words which sounds like a lot but it is not at all compared to other professors. Easy to get along with.
He is a good professor that will make you work fairly hard.
He is not too specific with his course, and often added details about an assignment at a very late time. He come's to class a bit unprepared, but gives leisure when it comes to time spent on assignments. All around a decent professor.
good teacher. primarily uses Google drive, has interesting group building discussions in class. Gives options on topics for writing. Show up, do the work, you'll be gucci.
Professor likes to slack and not really teach students the principle of "English" literally learned nothing, and feel like I wont be prepared for composition. If you want an easy A, then he'd be a good option.
Dixon is one of the best teachers I've had. Super easy A just come to class and participate and you will pass the class. If for some reason you can't come to class hes really understandable. You most likely will not have homework unless you don't finish the work in class.
He is an easy teacher, I definitely recommend him for any English classes. I would say that you do not need to rent the books that he required because you will rarely use them. I think it was a waste of money so definitely do not rent them. His class is an easy A just write the essays and you will we good. Also the writing center is a great place.
He will try to help you get better with writing so you will be as ready as you can be for the work force.
He's a good teacher because if you respect him he'll respect you and will talk to you about your papers if you have any questions
Gave me 4 zeros because he didn't help me when I had issues turning in assignments. Should've been an easy A but since he wasn't understanding, I'm barely getting a B. No main focus in class and honestly I didn't learn one thing this semester. If you want an easy A and don't care to learn, take his class and show up every day. Otherwise, RUN.
Really easy class. He doesnt really teach you anything and veers off topic often!
He is a nice person and cares but as a teacher he lacks concentration. He usually goes/gets off topic quite easily and has a hard time explaining the assignments. If you showed up to class, you will pass. It is an easy class. I also did not learn anything this semester in this class. Frankly, I think it was a waste of my time.
you don't need to be in class every day to pass.
I don't much to say, but I really liked the class
He's a good professor. He's funny, too. I would never have expected to turn a meme in for a grade in college.
Was a little vague with his instructions and occasionally went off on tangents but gave good feedback on essays and helped me improve my grammar. Overall, a decent professor.
Really understanding guy , gives great feedback on assignments. Overall great teacher.
He often tells stories, and as long as you show up and participate, you'll be fine. The entire class is outlined by each day in a power point. Sometimes he doesn't go by it exactly, but if anything he extends deadlines. Occasionally he brings up assignments that are never actually due. If you have technical difficulties, he'll help you. No tests :)
Professor Dixon will challenge you to challenge your ideas. The professor accepts different ideas and different dialects in essay writing. He doesn't care as much about perfecting grammar as he cares about getting students to share their ideas. The research project and blog assignments helps people write about what they actually care about.
As long as you somewhat try and do the homework and try you will pass with at least a B
Solid professor
I really liked the atmosphere of the class. Make sure you show up everyday and participate. If you do this, then you will end up just fine.
I enjoyed this professors unique way of thinking. He made the content we were learning more personal to us and showed us how interesting doing research can be in a variety of topics.
not bad
I learned a lot in this class. Good experience.
Best professor ever
Great, Fun Professor. Easy to get along with.
Hes a great and respectful teacher.
Fun class
He's a good person. He gives you a lot of feedback on papers. And will explain himself well when you need it. He enjoys getting to know his students and does it in exciting and fun ways. I recommend him highly.
He is a really good teacher. If you just show up you will get points and you can receive extra credit. He didn't give much homework. It was all in class. If you're looking for a teacher that is laid back and doesn't give much homework, then this is the right teacher for you.
Makes assignments that deal with real life or society ,is really funny and nice
This class helped to voice my opinions and thoughts without receiving any judgments. This class also gave me the chance to be creative when I wrote essays and papers.
Professor Dixon is a nice guy and class could be entertaining sometimes but the majority of the time I felt like I was only showing up to get attendance pts. Professor D tends to go off on tangents and doesnt seem to know how to create a structured lesson plan. Very unorganized and I dont feel like I learned. At least I got the grade and credit.
Very easy class to pass, just show up and do what he says. Majority of the time you'll have to ask for clarification because his instructions are unclear. Very late grader so don't expect feedback anytime soon. Literally graded the final project 3 hours before grades were finalized for the semester. Overall just not what i expect from a Professor.
This class is BADLY disorganized and Dixon is terrible at clear giving instructions. He is also lazy and inconsistent. You will likely spend more time trying to figure out how to do assignments and turn them in than actually doing coursework. Instead of clarifying he will expect between you and your classmates you'll all somehow figure it out.
He's an amazing professor!! I had him over the summer. If you have him you're super lucky. Professor Dixon is really laid back and understanding. He opens his door for anyone who needs help in and out of school. Great lectures, teaching, and assignments. I so wish he taught Composition II.
Awesome professor. He allows you to express yourself through writing, and he really makes learning easy and fun. His papers have easy topics, and he gives great feedback. He is also really funny, and interactive with the class
Bit of an unusual class. He had a unique sense of humor that he tied into his teaching. There were a few times that class was cancelled without warning, but overall a halfway decent class.
He is not a good professor, I don't think he even likes teaching at all. He is not organized and he is scatter brained at times. It takes him forever to grade assignments and he also has a bit of an attitude as well.
He is not a hard teacher at all, very lieutenant. If you show up to class and respect him, then you will have no troubles with this class at all. Not essay heavy at all.
Great professor, very kind and gives great feedback!
2 major papers that will determine grade but overall a very good class to take at JCCC
not the best at explaining. the hardest part of the class is understanding what he wants you to do. other than that hes very cool guy.
His assignments are very unclear with the teachings as well
I could have done better. It was hard to understand what we were doing at times.
Attendance gets you points but doesn't affect overall grade. Participation's expected and peer input's encouraged. It's crucial to check the lesson plan, the link to which is provided at the start of the semester. The lesson plan's consistent with the productiveness that happens in-class. Conference hours are available for grade talk and inquiries.
Overall the class was good, I just had some personal issues to deal with which put me behind on some assignments but everything else was pretty solid.
hes really good and you can talk to him during class and outside of class, i like hes method of teaching.
He is a great teacher!
He always respects all the students in his class. He teaches well and he did his best to understand our English.
He is a good professor. I had him for EAP 113 on speaking class and it helps me a lot improve my English and we don't have homework so i like it.
Good experience
Nothing to say was good would take again. Has a tendency to ramble .
Goes off on tangents sometimes
great teacher all around makes you want to show up to class and makes the work fun
He a great teacher, gives good feed back
He makes learning fun. The portfolio assignment was difficult, but it helped me notice where I struggled at my writing the most.
it is a fun class and he cares about your grade
Prof. Dixon is one of my favorite teachers that I have ever had. I feel like he is very good at connecting with his students.
He's a great professor and person, however he does get distracted quite often. Some things also get lost in translation as he has a hard time being clear, but I still had a good time in class and was able to find my way with a few questions.
Professor Dixon is funny but a little hard to understand at some times. You need to attend class so you will know what is going on.
If you do the work and put the effort in and show that you're trying you will get a good grade. When he says use the writing center DO IT, will help with your grade.
The class was pretty jumbled up. He is pretty funny and entertaining. He will help you outside of class if you go to his office.
Not easy but not hard. really only turn in two papers, then graded for class activies, hes kinda all over the place but it wasnt bad
He's a good teacher and he likes to get sidetracked and tell stories. sometimes will give instructions and they can be hellishly confusing so you would have to just try your best. he is an overall good teacher though.
attendance has to be mandatory or else you will miss assignment as well he teaches a lot in class.
Pay attention he talks fast.
He's a really good professor I have seen.
Class is mandatory but he does post everything on his google slides so if you do miss class its easy to follow. couple papers with a few more group projects.
Overall a good experience with the professor and the work.
Dr. D can be a tough grader but he usually gives a rubric for big papers. As long as you follow the rubric you'll get a good grade. Show up to class or you'll be behind. His class isn't easy but as long as you put in work you'll be fine.
at the beginning i was confused about using google drive but that i figure it out and then it was easy.
Honestly, I enjoyed the class itself, it was a straightforward class and I did learn some important things about Technical Writing. However, there was a lack of direction and leadership coming from Dixon. He was a nice enough guy, but would get sidetracked a lot. I feel as though there were times he would come to class completely unprepared.
nice guy, takes too long sometimes to grade things apparently
I know he wants me to do something but I dont know what
Horrible feedback, mostly everybody in my class is still confused about the paper we are writing and it's almost due. Very little direction. Horrible at answering questions, likes to respond to questions by asking you a question. DO NOT take this dudes class
The homework was really excessive. He's a really hard grader and no matter how hard you work in this class, you'll have a hard time with certain things.
He does not reply to emails and he didn't show up to all of his office hours. He has very inappropriate conversations (about sexual fetishes) in class that have nothing to do with assignments. Most days, we didn't do anything productive. I highly advise looking into a different professor if you want to actually learn anything.
There are 3 hours in a week and he is a really tough grader. He cancels a class a lot but still sends homework. if you miss any class you will not pass. He locks doors if you're late.
A monkey literally fell out of the ceiling. Literally the best class ever.
I personally would never take this professor or recommend him to anyone. He is disrespectful in his email replies back to me. Especially if i'm trying to get things graded that were due over a week ago. i have emailed him multiple times asking for him to grade them and he just doesn't get around to it. I was made to feel stupid by him for asking.
Terrible Professor. Professor Dixon was incredibly lazy. He would constantly not reply to emails I sent him and assigned a huge group project that was unrelated to writing that took up half the semester and I ended up doing all the work. I went up to him and told him about how i was doing all the work and he told me to figure it out.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is terrible. Treats his students poorly. He is lazy about grading work and will not teach you anything or reply to your emails. I learned nothing about comp. He is one of the worst professors i have ever had.
I took the class online so there were no lectures. He gives good feedback and gives chances to correct work. My one complaint is he was picky about the filenames for assignments. Other than that great teacher!!
A great professor!!! Thank you
Professor Dixon is understanding and honestly one of the best teachers/professors I've had. He was strict on deadlines and notes but still understanding if something came up, he understood that life happens, and people go through things.
Class time usually isnt used as work time so youll need to find some time outside of class to get the work done. You absolutely need to stay on top of things in canvas or assignments will build up and become an issue. Overall, Prof. Dixon is a tough grader but it is clear that he wants his students to succeed.
Fun lectures, learned a lot. Felt like he really cared about the class and his students.
Solid Lecturing ability and cares about his students, but his assignments are often confusing and he fails to properly explain them to his class.
The Instructions for assignments were not very clear.
Dixon is one of those professors that you see yourself going back to for advice even after you finish his class. He can be a little hard to follow but if you pay attention you'll catch on and learn how he teaches quickly. He creates a sense of comradery in his classes. He really cares about the students and is willing to go the extra mile.
Really enjoyed the class pretty chill guy. Not a lot of homework.
great teacher
Professor Dixon is a very laid back teacher. As long as you do the homework, which is very easy, you'll pass.
good teacher helps you throughout the course homework was not hard and well explained
Prof. Dixon was. a good professor. His class was easy and enjoyable. The grading was really nice and he gives good feedback.
always ask questions, be opened minded
Clear lectures and assignments
He helped explain how to organize my google docs and he also isn't really hard on some of his grades as long as you show up to class then you will do good in class and on the essays as well.
He will always tell you what he's feeling and doesn't cut corners or dance around how we actually feels I find that quite pleasing I would rather someone tell me exactly how they're feeling then have to figure out on my own
good teacher, understanding, fair
He makes a relatively boring subject very enjoyable to learn about. He's a funny guy and I think he actually cares about his student's points of view. Lots of writing but it's an english course.
Dixon is a hoot. He's funny, he genuinely cares about students, and he relates to them very well. The main problem you'll run into in his class is knowing what's going on most of the time. If you pay close attention (like I did) you'll be able to piece together what he wants and then getting an A isn't hard.
Provided me with a great introduction to college life! Taught me many useful things about my school and about handling college work that I continue to use. Assigned a group project throughout the semester involving charity work, which at the time seemed complicated and stressful but actually provided me excellent experience in group projects.
Pretty chill.
Professor Dixon was an alright Professor. Maybe it was because I did an online course but he was very unorganized. Would get assignments assigned one day and due the next. I would reach out to him and would take a couple of days to hear back through email. He doesn't follow the syllabus.
He's a very funny guy and I enjoy him as a person, but he isn't very clear with what he wants and kind of talks like the mad hatter. He needs to start writing down. What he says in his lectures. So we see it in the rubric or at the very least, give us a example piece of what he wants. Also, he's really slow at grading things.
DO NOT take this professor, he will assign up to 4 essays due a week. Each essay with 400+ words, and is a VERRYYYYYYY picky grader. Take my word for this class, many of my classmates struggled and failed.
Greg Dixon begins his classes with explanations and stories before class. He tends to give you a little background into his life and relate it to his his class room projects for the students. He does take questions and demonstrates feedback on grades so you can improve. Take his feedback seriously because thats how you can improve your grade.
He did Decent. Just make sure you touch base with him after class for answers in case you didn't completely understand him he begins his classes with stories and illustrations before having you work. He did a pretty good job explaining things butt could have done a little better.
Tends to not follow the syllabus he wrote for many things. He is often unavailable for responding to emails, even at the beginning of the semester. His grading criteria is not focused on writing or research. Has a narrow view of writing and lacked traditional lectures. This course lacked actual instruction and didn't help students grow as writers.
slow grader, does not give respectful or helpful feedback, instructions are unclear and unpredictable.
Worst Comp1 professor ever, a very slow grader, does not respond to your emails, always cancels classes, does not provide any helpful materials, and does not teach a single thing in class be prepared to teach yourself!
Very condescending guy, maybe he does not like his job
I didn't like Prof. Dixon much. I had a really hard time focusing in class, his teaching style wasn't for me. VERY lecture heavy, not a whole lot of participation necessary. Grading criteria wasn't always clear & caused some confusion with us. Maybe he was having a bad semester when I took Comp 1, but I found myself frustrated with him/the class.
The first few weeks of class were good, mostly fun activities and little assignments. However, glaring issues with his style of teaching start to show after that. He's slow to grade, not always very helpful, and is prone to rambling rather than explaining the assignment and teaching the class. Seems like a cool guy, but can't stand his class.
For a first time college student looking for a good laugh and abstract thought regarding papers and the English language, Professor Dixon is the man for you. Pay attention to what he asks of you and don't be afraid to ask him for clarification on assignments. He grades fairly, gives good feedback on what he wants, and is an exciting teacher.
Good teacher :)
Lot's of time in class can be taken up by long, rambling lectures, as Prof. Dixon is very prone to getting off topic and even derailing many of the in-class activities. However, the bulk of the grades are from the papers you submit, and I think he could improve on these with clearer guidelines and presenting a rubric up front for every assignment.
Prof. Dixon is a great Teacher who has a clear grading and teaching style, he has great stories about his life and adds humor everyday to class.
This Professor was one of my more favorite English teachers, his instructions where easy to understand and he was flexible when technical stuff got in the way of turning in a revised final draft.
Take him if you can.
Even though he is confusing his work is easy to understand. Hes also a good guy and very down-to-earth.
Easy class with a lot of opportunity for extra credit. Professor does talk quickly but he has a daily slideshow that outlines the class and assignments. The writing assignments are easy and shorter than Comp classes. Pretty easy grader but likes a correct MLA format. Need to know use of Google Drive and Docs.
He's a cool professor. helps out when you need help, just do your work and ask questions if you don't understand.
He is an awesome professor to have and he is understanding and helpful. He is someone you would enjoy to have as your professor.
He's a very nice teacher but takes a while to grade things.
Overall a good professor. Just sometimes gets carried away.
Prof. Dixon is a good teacher who cares a lot about his students and them doing well in his class.
overall good he cares if you do well
The grading scale is clear but sometimes not concise/ condensed overall not bad would recommend Prof. D (in class nickname) also lots of extra credit and very understanding. Good feedback and promotes a healthy classroom environment and DOESN'T allow for harassment of any kind. Does give content warning.
Be ready to write a lot. Grammar isn't expected to be 100% but you'll enjoy every prompt throughout the course
Professor Dixon is a pretty chill dude, I wasn't at all worrying about Intro to Writing being hard considering it was a prereq class before taking Comp. Sometimes he can get a little off topic and it makes instructions less clear but otherwise he's a good professor. He grades late so try not to stress out if you aren't getting an assignment grade.
Good and chill classroom. Assignments reviewed and due in class so attendance is important. Not hard assignments. Overall my favorite class because the classroom and the teacher are chill.
good professor, gives assignments side from the main assignments that where supposed to do.
basically showing up is all you need to do because most assignments are done in class so its an easy A
His class was easy, you had a lot of extra credit opportunities which I think is important and nice of professors to have that available to you. He requires the first 30 minutes of listening to his lecture and explaining the work and then he lets you work on your assignments which I also like because the less I have to do at home the better.
Typical English teacher tbh
My professor is great not like any others he cuts right to the chase.
Professor Dixon was a good teacher this semester. Only thing I don't like would be his way he formats his assignments. Compared to the way that other classes have their assignments set up on canvas and in class time is much clearer than his. Overall if you can focus in class, ask questions, and be on time with assignments, he'll be a great teacher.
Other teachers may take what you're going through in life and take it into consideration with how it can affect your schooling. OTHER teachers don't care and don't take it into consideration which will greatly affect your mental health, take the hints and try to continue to push through because no one will be on your side.
I honestly think he's such a chill professor, gave us many opportunities for extra credit. I'll say this class wasn't as hard as I expected it to be but sometimes I did struggle wit a few assignments.
Love how caring and understanding Professor Dixon is one of my favorite professors so far
Professor was difficult to understand wants, doesn't make requirements clear. Often got off topic quickly.
A good professor does care about the students, and a good amount of work is given out, not too much, not too little
Adapts class to the need of the students, Talks fast but takes feed back very well, Evolves the whole class and actually cares about their option.
The class wasn't hard, but his communication on assignments was often unclear. Be ready to re-ask questions a lot, as his directions can be confusing. My classmates felt the same way. Overall, he's not a bad person, but his communication could use improvement. I'd consider taking him again, but it's a 50/50 chance.
A very chill professor's work is simple
great guy just needs to answer questions in class more often
Professor Dixon is a good professor. Assignments are easy to understand; ask him if you don't understand something. Attendance is not always mandatory but be here the days he says too. He talks fast so make sure your paying attention.
hes clear, hes concise and hes most very considerate of the students amongst his classroom. treating each and every one as someone would expect to be treated as a normal person would expect. good professor, good environment, and great at teaching.
Professor Dixon is a straight forward teacher that is easy to communicate with.
Amazing class, it's interactive and easy to stay engaged.
Show up and just know what's coming up. He speaks quickly and goes off subject so just make sure you know what you're supposed to be doing.
Work wise, the class was really easy, but his assessments were very unclear, and he got off topic really quickly.
I want others to know that he is very respective towards students. The assignments he give us was very easy. The lectures are very understandable. I had so much fun in this class where everyone involve in discussion and share their stories.
He is very understanding communication is key.
The class wasn't hard, but his communication on assignments was often unclear. Be ready to ask questions, as his directions can be confusing. My classmates felt the same way. Overall, he's not a bad person, but his communication could use improvement. I'd consider taking him again, but it's a 50/50 chance.
Very chill and on-going professor. Gets the students discussing and interacting with each other; professors lectures are not boring, he is very open-minded with the students when he discusses his lectures, and he gives a good amount of feedback when he grades.
Professor Dixon gives you a lot of time to do any assignment you my have for this class.
didnt make class boring and we had good class conversations
Professor Dixon seems like a nice guy, but I had a tough time in this class. I wasn't the greatest in attendance, so that didn't do me any favors, but I oftentimes found assignment descriptions as well as rubrics to be unclear and confusing more often than not. Lectures were also not well organized and off-topic, making them hard to follow.
Overall, I did enjoy his class and with the way he taught, albeit broad on certain topics.
Professor was great, he was very clear on all our assignments and was prepared to teach. Funny at times but serious when needed to be.
Funny and relatable professor. Provides many extra credit opportunities. Great at giving feedback on assignments
Overall, I had a good experience. Be aware he does tend to ramble a lot before explaining what the assignment is, and he would often assign an assignment that was something like 350-500 words by the end of class but he'd talk so much it was impossible to get it done. Other than that the class was fun and I learned a lot from him this semester.
Clear instructions, and offers lots of extra credit opportunities. I felt like he wanted me to succeed.
Professor Dixon grades papers pretty strict but makes the lectures fun to attend. I appreciate the gradual build up for the papers and not starting the semester too fast.
good class
Don't take him
I took him for comp2 and I liked the class. It wasn't too difficult and the professor was funny.
One of my favorite professors I've had. Very caring about the students, wants students to succeed. If you are struggling in the class, he is very open to questions and for students to approach him. I will note that you definitely have to reach out to him, because if you don't, he won't know their having trouble. Will be taking him for Comp 2
Strict grader Bad teacher-student interaction Confusing ass assignments with little explanation and feedback Minimal feedback Don't take his class yall
Don't take him.
AWFUL- NO STRUCTURE AT ALL. RAMBLES THE WHOLE CLASS AND DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY MEANINGFUL INSIGHT
It's really hard to use AI in his class because he bases so much of the writing assignments on what you do in class projects and on research found in the library. That wasn't a big deal for me but it really upset some people.
Works with students who make the effort to improve their grades. Coursework is easy; however, meeting all of the objectives of the rubric is difficult. Class attendance is mandatory if you want a good grade and want to understand the assignments. Overall, Professor Dixon is a kind man, but being a student was more difficult than it needed to be.
Follow his prompts, label your materials correctly, and the class becomes a breeze. Standby for hilarious topics and great course material.
Dr. Dixon is a very kind man. He works with students if they put in effort to do well in the class. If you work for it, an A is possible. Deadlines are very strict. instructions for assignments extremely unclear, definitely the most difficult part of this class. Overall, very kind man, but ultimately this class was more difficult than necessary
Initially, I felt as though I and this Professor had personal beef. However, I realized this is just how he is. Its important to not take his blunt nature personally. If you show initiative, ask questions, and attend class, you will have a good time in this class.
Professor Dixon is full of good intentions, but prepare to spend a lot of time asking your classmates "So what are we supposed to do?". But once you get used to his style, it becomes easier. He has some absurd grading criteria, like the file name (that in my opinion, he wants in an awful format). But at the end, he cares about his students.
Though Dr. Dixon's class is difficult to understand at times, he does clarify and help students understand the assignment, if asked. He's a fair grader and does care about your academic performance and well-being. Also, he's willing to work with the students during office hours or through zoom. Overall, great professor and caring person.
He's a great teacher, but you need to pay attention closely on what he actually wants or ask your classmates "So what are we doing today". Also do a lot of group activities, but overall, not too bad
Besides my negative comments I did like this class. But he puts lots of significance on minor things and completely ignores your actual content. Lectures are interesting but unnecessary and he tends to talk about something unrelated for the first 30 minutes of class. His feedback can be unclear and it is difficult to talk to hi outside of class.
If you come to class and show your efforts he will help you and give you good feedback. Listen to him because he will tell you basically exactly what he wants.
Great professor! Made assignments interesting and enjoyable to work on. Would definitely take again!
I felt often not heard when I asked a question, I was told to refer to the modules and it was hard to follow the grading rubric, he often taught one thing, but it never felt consistent. Nice man just difficult to follow
Ask lots of questions.
Chill dude.
I think he can be sarcastic sometimes, but it's hard to tell.
He's awesome, I enjoy his class. He tends to ramble and gets a little off topic, but it doesn't matter to me. I love to chit-chat.
very good teacher very easy and works well with students
he was fine
Lowk chill af, threw my friends shoe across the room in anger and he shrugged it off like nothing
if you showed up and paid attention, and did your due diligence (completely manageable in this class), you should have a pretty good grade, which is how it should be. Not to mention he is most relaxed, but not in a lazy way. 10/10 teacher
He makes clear instructions, and if confused, asking him questions makes the assignments more easier.
You want to be asking questions and explanations, overall chill professor.
He's cool.
This professor is a very cool guy.
i really enjoyed this class.
Clear instructions and is happy to clear up misunderstandings if they appear. Grading criteria and rules make sense and seem fair. Happy with the class and professor.
He could definitely be less strict of our research. The homework added stress throughout my other classes.
You do a lot of peer reviews in this class so make sure you turn work in on time and that you're good at giving feedback on work.
He was a well balanced teacher that focused on writing skills rather than length.
I honestly don't feel like I learned that much. He focuses way more on formatting than the actual writing and grammar. He was absent a lot this semester and that made everything feel much more chaotic. I don't personally recommend.
the professor has an interesting teaching style. might not fit all but i personally enjoyed it. theres no textbooks and most of it is self-learning reinforced by what was explored and taught in class through writing, drafts, etc. as long as you are on top of things, the instructor is willing to be leniant. simple class with not too much work load.
He's super kind. He seems like a nice guy.
He is serious about deadlines. No play at all.
Prof. D is extremely knowledgeable and very funny and a good person. He is not a great communicator what he says in person is often different than what is on the assignments description and what is on his daily slideshow. his grading is very strict on some things like format and citations but very lenient on other things. A good amount of papers
He is a tough grader and does not explain instructions well. It is not a difficult class but if you don't do your homework, you will get behind.
This professor is very funny and to the point, open to answering any questions you may have. The only downside is the amount of essays (like 8) you have to write about one project you finish halfway through the semester.
He gives you enough time to complete your work and my advice would be don't afraid to make mistakes in this class, rubrics and criteria can be a little vague but because he wants you to find your own writing style/voice. Don't overthink it!
You will learn nothing in this class. He gives no feedback on the content of writing, just formatting. Instructions are always odd and vague. Not too hard though.
His gives good lectures but instructions can be vague during assignments.
Professor is such a nice and supporting.
Dixon was a great teacher but I didn't learn very much of anything. I feel like a lot of it was writing papers that had no direction. Overall, If you want to really learn something I would choose a different teacher, but if you want an easy A this may be a good class for you.
We really appreciate you as a class
Dixon's class is easy if you keep up with due dates. His instructions are very unclear often forcing you to guess what he's wanting. He rarely responds to emails. This class was okay, but I didn't learn much. He does give several opportunities for extra credit.
