If he gives an extra credit problem on the board during a test, he's lying, he tells you at the end you did it for nothing lol
He made everything sound so simple! I was finally able to figure out math for once in my life
Mr Ferencko has cool McD's socks and he's pleasent too. He bounds into class and practically screams "yay, I get to teach math today!" Math 90 was good but pre-calculus tried to kill me. I barely scraped my c+ and I'd never worked harder for such a lowsy grade. Anyhow, great teacher, does everything he can, but the material is hard no matter what.

Gerg is one of the best professors at TCC.
Don't take any high level classes with him. You'll need to self study the whole quarter.
one of the worst math teachers I've ever had...DO NOT TAKE this class unless your can afford a tutor or completely teach yourself......Very scatterbrained, and you wont' believe how hard you have to work for a crappy grade
Awesome teacher -- knows when students are confused (by looking at our faces) and will continue explaining in better detail if so. Not to bad of homework, just if you dont do it, forget passing the test (very related to hmwrk) overall, this is my second class with him and would definitely take more of his math classes
loved the class! very helpful teacher, enthusiastic
loved this class. eventhough it was at 730am. Not to sound corny, but he made math fun. =D
oh and to the person who said he was the worst teacher in the world, you're an idiot. you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Many students try to get into his class. i plan on taking my next class with him.
The best teacher ever...
The best Math Teacher ever. he is so fun!!! very good explanations to solve the math problems....
Realy best one math teacher I ever had
Excellent teacher. The best math teacher at school. He is willing to answer questions and explain concepts clearly. He gives excellent feedback for projects.
The absolute god of MATH, this instructor makes you want to learn math!
Well meaning. Works Hard on interpersonal skills but lacks natural empathy. Unrealistic quantity of exam problems and tricky questions. Quiz required three tutors to solve. Exhaustingly lengthy exams. Rigid deadlines. Workload extreme for an "A." High expectations for Math 99 level humans! Prepare to live at the Math Advising and Resource Center!!!
I took math 151-153 with Ferencko. I had times in his class where I wanted to scream. But all I had to do was go to his office and ask for help, and everything made sense. Ferencko is not for everyone, but in my opinion, he is the best math teacher at TCC, and of course you have to work hard. It's MATH! No silver platter WAAAA... Deal with it..
I really wish that I would have taking him before taking Kim Kwon. I really wanted my money back for paying for hear class :( Any how, he is so to the point and very detailed that there is no way that any one should not pass his class.
Cute and was very good at showing how to solve the problems. He would write out the steps in words and do an example. I really like his teaching style because he could show how to do something in different ways to accomodate the students learning styles. He was really passionate about math too and I think that makes for a great professor.
96/140 He is really into math, answers questions in detail, would defiantly take more classes with him. He does however give assignments that have work he never covered in class (happened about 3 times).
Very clear instructor when it comes to telling you why formulas hand figured all the way up to the calculator, I do like him but his tests are VERY TRICKY you better understand 100% and I mean crystal of those chapters if you want over a 80% on tests. Good teacher but extremely difficult tests. Taking again but prepared this time.
Very tricky tests. He is very picky with answers and is very stingy with partial credit. Homework assignments about once per week. Attendance mandatory for activity grade. Takes quite a while to return tests (>1 week). Overall a decent teacher, and is good at explaining things but he tests very hard and doesn't give a lot of "wiggle room".
Very good at explaining how to do things. Very willing to help. He wants you to know how to do everything. Tests are fairly hard, but I would highly recommend him.
ferencko is amazing. he's just this lovable dork who loves math and makes it fun and easy to understand. he answers all questions and explains everything EXTREMELY clearly, multiple times, in different ways. i hate math but this guy actually had me thinking that maybe i should pursue it past my degree requirements, just for fun. he's great!!
I took him for Math 99 a while back, and I have to say he is one of the best teachers at TCC. He just gets you so excited for math, which is good because it's my least favorite subject. His tests are challenging but his explanations are crystal clear. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard in a class room before. HE JUST GETS SO AMPED!!!
Okay so he's pretty awesome. Still taking him right now, pretty epic if you ask me! Does a little more lecture than you might like (almost fell asleep on multiple occasions). But you absolutely learn the material! ...for the most part you barely need the book
Awesome teacher. Tests are super trickey. But he gives you practice sheets for what will be on the test. Funny down to earth and great teacher. Little homework to none at all your choice but I say do it or you will struggle. Over all amazing at teaching
Hard class... Math 95 is easier. But he is a cool teacher. Plays in a band, plays bball, wears chucks... Super smart and funny.
I had him for 96/140 and he has rambles a lot and it takes him a long time to get to his point. He has a lot of good ratings on here but I found him to be a very hard to teacher to understand and pass the class. If math isn't your strong suite, I wouldnt reccommend taking him for 96/140 at least.
really enjoyed this teacher, he explained everything clearly, very personable and funny.
Very good looking guy, explains things pretty clearly but is not helpful if you have a question after class. Sometimes rushes through topics because he talks about something less important for the majority of the class then has no time for the important part of the lesson. Hard exams, would help if he graded hw for more points towards grade.
Explains everything very well, super nice and cheerful. So far I have really enjoyed having someone actually teach a class, then have us do that work that night, and review the next class. Great! Wish I could have him for every math class.
Very clear when explaining everything. He makes even really hard stuff seem obvious (and this gets tedious when you already know the subject.) Grades on a 95 percent scale for non-test points, but grades very strictly. Never gives extra credit, so be careful: if you assume it's as easy as he makes it look, you'll fail the tests and
Rambles a lot. He uses a weird emphasis on his words so its real difficult to understand what he thinks is important to learn and what isn't. He doesn't grade the homework which is unfortunate because I think a lot of his students could have benefited from that.
Prof. Ferencko is awesome! He is a cute, quirky math nerd and really loves to teach it. He is great at explaining things in different ways for different learning styles. VERY strict with grading. Homework not required, but DO IT anyway or you'll be behind. Would definitely take him again.
Awesome math teacher; his lectures are clear and he provides all quizzes/worksheets/homework problems that actually help in learning the material. I recommend taking him...wish I could again.
3 exams & final, grading was fair homewrk25% ex1 10% ex2 16% ex3 16% final 33%. Able to get extra credit by doing the hw early. Main thing is, it is the quarter system things move fast, ask questions, he is cool w/ explaining something 3 or more different ways so you get it. He has an odd way of writing on the board, makes taking notes frustrating.
Nice guy and easy teacher. But he always make mistakes on math, which upsets me. I am always waiting someone to point out his mistakes.
Explains things good. Makes things seem easy but uses webassign for homework and a lot of the time it is very different than what we went over in class. Biggest portion of grade is the tests and they are really hard. No partial credit.
Wonderful at explaining & making sure the class understands. Always reviews from last class which is helpful. Gives attendance points for coming to class. Overall fairly easy if you come to class and pay attention. I love his teaching style. Real nice guy. I'd highly recommend and take him again!! =)
His class was awesome although his hard grading system made me crazy.
good teacher
He was very helpful and explained everything step by step.
He is a great teacher!. If you prepare well and pay attention in class then you will do well. It was all thanks to God that I did well in this class, praise God! Do not procrastinate. He really cares about his students understanding the topic and he is willing to help whenever needed. He is also clare in his teaching.
harsh grader and test are not true to the study guides or homework.
Here r what I think about him n' u'd better believe it. My remark about him contains absolutely no bias:Firstly, he cracks many jokes in my class.Secondly, he is helpful but this fact depends on your Mathlevel. If u really love Math, go ahead n' choose him. Otherwise, u should not because he wants to teach above and beyond normal Math class.
Best teacher I have ever had. Explains things inside and out. Does sometimes make small arithmetic errors, like most humans, not too proud to use a calculator. Makes me feel like I could be doing Math at his level someday.
Ferencko's a pretty chill professor, and has an amazing cat shirt. His tests are not easy but if you study you'll be ok. He is very enthusiastic about not dividing by zero. Overall he is pretty cool.
Probably my favorite teacher at TCC. I only got a C, but that was just because I didn't make enough time for the class - he clearly loves math and is great at teaching it, plus he's just a chill guy in general. I recommend him for any level of math.
Took Ferencko for Calculus I and II. Great prof. Never cared for math and thought I'd find calculus difficult to impossible. Not with Ferencko. If he's teaching a course you need, take him.
Take him if u want to learn, but don't want to do too much work yourself. He'll make sure u understand all the concepts. NOT helpful after class,NOT helpful if u want to go beyond the class, since Ferencko just wants his life to be as simple as possible. Don't bother asking him questions after class if ur an A student already.
Took Ferencko for Calculus I, II, and III. He's tough, but clear and fair. You have to learn the material to get a good grade, but he teaches it extremely well. Best mathematics lecturer I've ever had.
Greg was a very good instructor. He often explained concepts in a variety of ways and wrote down notes along with the class on the board. However, he is a tough grade when it comes to exams (3 plus a final) and quizzes (Around every Friday). He was interesting and clear. I would definitely take his class again.
Found his class to be confusing. Handouts were easy but the test were way to hard. He talked too fast and oddly emphasizes words. The homework is all online. He needs to prepare the class better for the quiz and exams. It would have been better if the home work wasn't online and out of the book.
Angry comicmad genius. Great teaching style, if you follow his step by step instructions to solving the problem, then you'll get it. Gets very passionate about his students knowing the information and gets irritated if they don't. You have to laugh at his outbursts because it's not personal. Outbursts are more frequent as you near Friday.
Mr. Ferencko's class is enjoyable, he makes everyone laugh, and he doesn't assign any homework that is needed for you to turn in.
Ferencko taught me to understand math. He talks A LOT during lecture, usually went on even after class was over. But it paid off - he always worked out problems on the board we had questions about, and problems on tests were just like ones we practiced in class on for homework. If you listen and ask questions, you will pass!
Awesome teacher, explain very clearly, got jokes, answers all questions, always there if you need help. Honestly the best math teacher I've ever had.
I honestly was expecting to have a tough time with this class since I had a rough go at 96/140, but Greg is awesome! He's a funny dude, and was always willing to help. Online homework didn't appear much on tests, so make sure you attend class! Be sure to pay attention to the actual concepts associated with the math because he'll test you on it.
This class was very chill. Usually the first half of class is spent discussing homework or other questions, and the last half is the lecture. I really liked Greg as a person but I couldn't stand that class for some reason. I didn't find the lectures interesting or easy to follow at all. I don't know, maybe I just hate math.
Best professor. He will help you out with calc.
Greg is probably my favorite professor at TCC. He is great at explaining mathematical concepts, and offers a lot of opportunities to succeed. He does talk for hours on end, but everything he says is very organized and methodical to help you understand math. He gets very enthusiastic at times which is amusing to watch. I would definitely take him.
He blows through all of the easy stuff and doesn't clarify on the hard items. He is really annoying and confusing when it comes to learning new ideas. Doesn't go over what is needed! Online homework most often has nothing to do with what he taught in class.
Best math teacher period.
Took Mr. Ferencko for Calculus I and loved his teaching style, took him again for calculus II without any regrets.
Super funny and helpful. He explains everything step by step and makes things clear. He only takes participation once every two weeks so participation is not mandatory. Would recommend. I only had an hour of hw a week and didn't even crack my textbook. Easy A.
Pros He gives clear lectures and plenty of examples. He adds humor and is enthusiastic about math so you won't have trouble staying awake during his lectures. He grades fairly. Cons If you can't make a quiz he will allow you to take it at any other time.
Honestly the best math teacher I've ever had. He's not like you're typical math professor. He doesn't assign homework, he just gives you problems that are suggested for practice. He explains concepts so that even a child could grasp it. If his classes are open I suggest taking him. Funny guy.
Greg is hands down the best professor I've had! Teaches concepts very well and is very clear. Has a ton of patience and will go over any questions you have from practice problems. He doesn't push his agenda on students, but instead makes sure you understand the ideas before moving forward! And, he's hilarious! Loved his class. Wish he taught 153.
Best math teacher I've ever had. He uses time in class effectively, takes his time working through problems that students have, makes learning easy. He uses analogies to explain new concepts and he's funny. He doesn't come off as arrogant like some instructors. His tests actually resemble the homework so no surprises. No group work or projects.
Professor Ferencko is a Great professor. He thoroughly explains every topic and everything that is on the test will be what he has explained. The only bad thing is that if you bomb a test your grade suffers as there are 3-4 per quarter each making up 22% of your grade.
Ferencko is an amazing lecturer. He explains things very thoroughly and makes sure to drill the important facts into your head. That being said, he does not give any extra credit, and in Calculus there is no homework assigned so it is all on the tests, but tests are very reasonable. Most of the class would finish them early. Highly recommend him.
Mr. Ferencko is an amazing teacher. His lectures are easy to follow and he is enthusiastic. He has office hours everyday, and if you are struggling with something and make the effort to ask he will try his best to help you.
A very good professor. Nice and easy teaching style.
Would take him for every math class in the future. Explains everything until you understand. Tests are on covered material, and gives partial credit. Couple times per quarter takes extra credit attendance. Drops lowest quiz and extra credit for HW if you do it early.
He dose not have any extra credit, and only 4 quizzes and 2 test and a final through out the quarter, so if you don't do well only 1 test, then your grade will be knocked 10% down. He usually spends too much time explaining easy stuff and make problems more complicated, he do sometimes explain hard stuff, but honestly not an easy A.
Awesome Calc teacher. I was super lazy in his class so I did poorly, but he's good at teaching and the work load isn't as bad as some other math classes.
I'll be honest. At first I didn't like this professor bc he tends to elaborate on a LOT of stuff that at first didn't seem necessary. He really stresses the WHY aspect of math and breaks it down. Sure, it takes longer and seems tedious but it helps you really understand concepts in math. He won't baby you and he tells you as it is. Great teacher
It's hilarious when he yells, but just remember he just really wants you to learn to think for yourself, which is a very valuable lesson.
Amazing teacher!! He basically force feeds you information then allows you to think for your self with the tools he has given you.
Like him as a person, but teaching? He's not good at it. Focuses too much on graphing which is terrible for non-visual learners. Words questions oddly which could take awhile many points over misunderstanding him. Stingy with partial credit if you get the wrong answer expect a zero even if some of your work is good. 1 missed step 0.
I would consider Greg to be one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He goes above and beyond to help any student out. I would definitely take any class he teaches.
I didn't like that he doesn't use canvas. instead he uses webassign for all computer homework and canvas is way better because it walks you through each step. I say that because he covers very little of the content in class. And the textbook he wanted us to use covered very little of the materials we're learning.
Greg gets excited about what he's teaching and keeps your attention. I appreciate the way he plans his lessons and structures them. Since math professors can't cover every single little detail in class, I think he does a great job at covering what's important and using the class time efficiently to go a bit more in depth into the harder stuff.
Provides several different explanations of topics so that students with different learning styles can all easily grasp the content. Extra credit on all homework thats turned in a day early.
He is a great professor overall. He is a tough grader though. He is also picky how you write down your answer. If the answer is not written the way he likes it he will mark it wrong. He talks very loud so if you have trouble hearing he is a great option for you.
Aright Aright Aright Aright Aright Aright Good stuff? This professor is super nice and his class is pretty easy
Professor Ferencko is a great math teacher who is very enthusiastic when he teaches. He expects you to show up ready to work every day. Two thumbs up
I was pretty worried about math, having been out of school for years. Greg makes it really easy. Show up, take notes, do homework. Was a pretty easy A for me. Hour of class, Hour of homework 3-4 days a week. Do the test study guides a couple times before test. If you can take a class with him, DO IT. Fun and easy! Great Teacher!
Greg is a really nice professor, he is so enthusiastic about his teaching, and he will answer and explain any questions that you have. 5 quizzes, 3 exams, and 1 final total, and he will drop the lowest score of your quiz and exam. Homework is on the Web-assign page, and extra is offer if you do the homework early an day. Highly recommend!!!
Downfall: he doesnt use Canvas so you wont know your grade until the end of the quarter.
Preface: calculus and, math beyond, rely on students to be able to conceptualize the material. Visuals and graphs are absolutely necessary. That said, Greg is an awesome and enthusiastic, albeit slightly abrasive, Professor. He cares about math. The practice problems are harder than the tests. Be stoked if you get him!
He is the best professor I have ever had!! Math has never come naturally to me, but he made me feel like I'm able to do it. He explains things really well. Take him, you won't regret.
Doesn't use canvas. Class is mostly lectures, but he's very open to questions and explaining things to the whole class, even if just one student has the question. Online homework only, but he has the first part of class dedicated to answering questions about it. Tests aren't too hard. Overall a very nice teacher, but class can be kind of boring.
He gives amazing lectures. He is really patient and wants to see you succeed. One of my favorite professors of all time. He is funny and is good at relating concepts back to the real world.
Really recommended!!! He's really useful, sometimes it's sleepy, but you can easily get good grades tho
Greg is a really good professor. He breaks down each lesson and makes sure everyone can understand it. He always makes people can feel comfortable to ask questions and he will go over the homework as long as people ask for it. Definitely one of my favorite professors at TCC.
Have to put in the work to get an A , drops worsted test score 7/10 recommend. Online hw few paper worksheets
I've never done particularly well with math, but Mr. Ferencko does a really great job of explaining concepts, and I learned a ton in his class. He's very enthusiastic and likes to yell to get his point across, but don't let that intimidate you, he's a great teacher and a super friendly guy. Would absolutely recommend this class!
10 out of 10.
My absolute favorite math teacher (and maybe favorite teacher?) at TCC. Greg made me love calculus because of how good he is at teaching it - and I've never been good at math. I have a different teacher for Calc 3 and really wish I had the option to take Greg's class. I highly recommend him for any math class!
All the assignments in the online class were on a website, none were written. Tests were multiple choice mostly, or you didn't have to show work. Does not nitpick small errors like other math profs. Assignments and tests were not difficult. Overall, an amazing professor for Calculus.
Prof. Greg is an amazing teacher! His lectures were incredibly clear and helpful. He was lenient with homework and quizzes. Also, if there were problems on the homework that you didn't get, then you can ask Prof.Greg to go over and explain them, which was very helpful as well. I would recommend Prof. Greg to everyone!!
He is the best Math professor I ever had and probably will ever have. Such a genius and makes you think you're a genius as well because from his way and concepts of explanations you literally understand and master solving so well because of him.
I took this class in my very first semester of tcc, and I would say it was a really good intro to the college! he is a great lecturer and pretty chill when it comes to grading.
The hardest thing in the class was probably quizzes question style were somewhat unknown. Tests were easy to study for since most the questions where similar to quiz questions, so as long as you studied the previous quizzes for the unit, you'll knock it out the park. He is particular about a few things but he is very clear about them.
Only grades quizzes and tests, but does not allow notes/notecards. No options for extra credit or homework to buffer out a poor quiz or test score. I did not miss one day of class and spent hours on homework and practicing in-class worksheets and still struggled all quarter. He's a loud person, and it can deter some students from asking questions.
Professor Ferencko makes math click. His lectures are engaging, and he's great at breaking down concepts. Between the textbook, practice quizzes, and tools like Unstuck study, you'll be set up to succeed in this class. Definitely take him if you can!
Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll fall behind if you miss much class, and he is a very loud and passionate instructor. Be ready to do a lot of studying outside of class
Greg is a great professor, and taking his Trigonometry/Precalculus II Course (MATH&142) really helped prepare me for Calculus I. While he is a tough grader and can be loud at times in class, he is extremely knowledgable. Be prepared to stay on top of your studies, as these math classes demand a great deal of attention outside of the classroom.
