Quite a square type person and a strange man, hard to describe, weird
Easy to get a good grade. But it's too boring. :-(
Overall cool class, he's very precise and follows schedule!
Had fontaine twice. If you follow his schedule and play by his rules, he's cool
Very by the notes, hi sway or no way.

He's a dork, look at his cool apparel
Fontaine rules. He explains everything well. Not the most interesting class, but it could be a whole lot worse.
Worst Professor on campus.
Why has this guy never been the GQ man of the year?
Is this man the older verion of screech from saved by the bell?
Excellent teach. Describes everything in depth for you if necessary. He knows his stuff!!!!
GOOD PROFESSOR but too picky on damn group project.
A very weird guy. He is good at explaining, but a pain in-the-ass when it comes to following his special fine print rules. If he changed his attitude he'd be an awesome professor.
Cpt Toolbag, but easy.
He is really cool and helpful in all ways.
Very organized and really cared about students... a little too anal about certain things!
extremely precise, almost anal teacher. He really cares about students' success in his class though. Very helpful, not too hard.
Smart guy! Very professional...Anal retentive on attendance and punctuality. apparently road construction was my fault. Does group quizzes and projects...very nice guy.

VERY VERY VERY ANAL! Most times I just can't stand him. Its either his way or no way. BAD ATTITUDE! He is professional and will teach you a lot of stuff but he's WAY TOO ANAL!!
Great teacher!! His attention to detail is to teach us to pay attention to our FAR's, approach plates, and anything else that might save our lives someday. Can't say it enough, GREAT TEACHER!!
good teacher, really knows his stuff. the quizes are a good way to boost your grade, they're open book, and the group projects are pretty simple
Hard but you learn a lot. Highly structured, has fine printitis. But he's a pretty good teacher.
Can get an A. Must read the book and really listen to the discussions. He is very smart and knows his stuff. Willing to help anyone. You do group projects that aren't too hard and partner quizzes. Tests are off the quizzes plus discussion questions.
Very good teacher. I have taken him for not only the private but also the instrument and commercial class. He is strict but all you have to do is listen in class, do well on the quizes, and you will ace the test! Good teacher.
He kicks ass, he likes his pants up his butt and enjoys showing off his junk, but he is a badass teacher.
Quizzes hard in beginning then they get easier as go through course. But tests get slightly harder through the course. Should make high A on first, low A on second, and high B on third. Quizzes should average A if do reading assigns. Then A in class easy
ANAL! ANAL! ANAL! If you listen and show up too class you can get A.
This guy is a total douchebag and costs me more money than tuition in approach plates alone. he needs to chill out a little bit.
i was able to learn a lot from this class. fontain is a pretty good teacher. if you get the chance take his class. to get a A you have to take notes. everything you cover in class in on the test.
i was able to get a lot from fontains 330 class. fontain explained the subject in a easy to understand way.if you pay attention in class you should have no problem.
Over all he is a great teacher...He genualy cares about you doing well. Sometimes he can be anal-retentive, but he gets the info through your head.
He's awesome. Really tough and makes you pay close attention to details, I appreciate that because you have to pay attention to details in the cockpit. Teaches a lot of real-world lessons (not just stuff out of the textbook). Study your ass off. Great guy
The best professor that I have ever had in my college career.
Very good teacher. Gives real life situations and makes you get intense for flying career. He is awesome teacher. Write down everything he says in lecture & study quizzes posted online and you will get easy A. Easy to get A if make sure you understand all
He is a great teacher. Unlike most teachers he cares about a individual student and he is fare to everyone, not just the ones he gets along with the most.
Great person, soft spoken and very humble. You absolutely MUST take notes to do well. Watch out for pop quizzes, he likes to surprise you! Sharp dresser..wonder if his wife irons his shirts every day...hmmmmm....
complete **** very very picky either do it his way or get it wrong doesn't care about students and ps never bother him when he is with his wife
Greg is kinda different. His teaching style took me a while to get use to. But, he is picky about details so you will be picky too as a pilot! Greg knows his stuff.. and if you take his class, you will too! No Homework...
Hey 5/21/04...You must be one of those guys who didn't study and got a low grade (poor baby). Well, if you thought this was going to be basket weaving, don't blame it on your teacher. I happened to like the guy!
TOTAL ****
Horrible professor. He is rude and has ferquent prower trips.
His body is unproportional and good gracious could he ever become more arrogant
Ok honest if you don;t study it will be hard...he will do all he can to help but you have to ask and have to want him to help you...if i were still in AS i would try to get him for all my classes
Requires a lot of reading but not a ridiculous amount. The guy knows his stuff and always answers questions in class. Some group work but you will never have to do it outside of the class. Just study and you should do good.
this man is cool. the class is tedious, a lot of mapping what do you expect. he makes you good at it with practice. group quizzes help in the grades. he is very willing to answer questions in class. makes some very good points. has the experience, and is interesting to listen to.
4th course with Fontaine. Gives you the most important details about material and relates everything to real world situations. He know's his stuff. While many don't like his style, I think it's helpful. If you can't get an A in any of his classes, consider a different career. Great Instructor
This guy knows his stuff! Class was very helpful, and he is very clear. Take him if you could!
He is not always the clearest but as long as you say something he will make sure you understand. Cool professor that really knows what he teaches
hes ok, hes kinda picky about stuff, but overall its not a hard class
Took this class online. Fontaine does a very good job overall. The class is easy and takes about 1/2 the amount of time as an average class. One of the best online instructors I've had.
Good teacher and if you ask questions you will get an A or B.
GOOD GUY AND YOU WILL GET AN A OR B IF YOU ASK QUESTIONS AND STUDY
This guy is a dork. Quizzes are so annoying, relatively easy class if you study.

Class started out easy...but his quizzes get more and more difficult...he purposely throws tricks at you for quizzes and test...also, dont walk out on him, he'll embarish you...can be a prick at times!!!
Class was fun - I enjoyed the material. The quizzes are fairly easy but the trick questions are B.S. His final sucked too - the questions were WAY too vague.
Questions on quizzes were confusing and subjective. He would toss out several every time (which shows how confusing they could be for everyone). In class notes would often not even discuss the items required to know for exams. Very unhelpful, even during office hours outside of class. Would make subject more confusing, not less.
He is a good professor and is very knowledgable regarding the curriculum. He, though, is a weird character as his moods vary from day to day and he is quite anal about needless details. He is also known for being very strict with his office hours and seems very unapproachable. Do what you're asked and you'll pass the class.
NO GOOD!!!! STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!!!
Great class. Great professor. VERY professional
Not too good of a teacher, and I cant believe now he is the only one that teaches the class. Too picky. Don't take him.
Just want to shoot yourself. His difficulty is just plain suicide. He will make your dreams a nightmare.
Worst Teacher I've Ever Had. Usefull Class. The subject would be interesting if he only wasn't such a prick about everything.
Avoid if possible! Not likeable at all! Concentrates on the details to a fault and avoids the big picture and general comprehension of the subject matter. Oh yeah, his test are designed to trick you. He'll rearrange acronyms around to see if you catch it. Needs to get a hobby so he'll relax a little.
Forget what everyone else says, this guy is an awesome professor. Yes, his quizzes and tests are hard, but if you are prepared and think a little, they are easy. He actually cares if you understand the material, unlike other professors.
I'm a graduating senior and I've had almost all the AS professors and Fontaine is by far the worst. You don't get the feeling he's on your side. He's kinda mean and way WAY too focused on those damn quiz formats! Reminds me of PTS reports!
WORST PROFFESOR AT RIDDLE! His is the most anal man I have ever met. Today he called out the whole class for being cheaters just because he believes working in groups on homework is cheating. Hounds professionalism but is a complete hipocrit about it. Where I come from, calling your students liars in front of the whole class is NOT PROFESSIONAL!
I blame Riddle for this mistake. He should not be teaching! He may have the knowledge but that's all he has. He does not care for his students and he inspires nothing from his students. I'm very disappointed with Riddle for hiring credentials and not teachers!
OK, I admit Prof Fontain is a little tough and kind of picky, but he will make sure you know the material. Quizes are tricky, but he was very willing to help in my class. He is very clear when he teaches as well, not one of those teachers that will confuse you just by talking. This was for Intrnational Navigation since it wont let me enter a code
Fontaine is ahuman being for all of you idiots who failed to realize that. I would be uptight, and anal too if i had to teach a bunch of college students who wanted to be spoon fed a good grade. Grow up! This is college, not all of your teachers are going to wipe your ass. I think hes a good teacher who doesnt get the respect he deserves.
Very organized. Anal retentive actually. Nine in class quizes, open book, with a partner, are still tough though. Three tests are very hard but the average is usually around 80. B is easy to get, A, not so much, but possible.
" Folks, U gotta read the notes"!!!
Professor is anal, no doubt about it. However, dispatch is an open book class with him. Other 410 teachers are not open book. Easy A, do the bonus points! The final is all write in and can be difficult. However, rest of class is easy. Just laugh at some of Fontaine's unique attributes... "Folk!" "Master document!" and you'll have fun.
Called me out in class today with a 10 minute lecture on paying attention because I was not staring at the 1 sheet of paper my group had to work on. If you can avoid him...DO IT. He has this stupid quiz procedure that shows characteristics of an insane person. We need to go to the chairman of the AS dept. on this guy.
once you get past the fact that everything must be done his way he's not a bad teacher. will always answer your questions, but in depth quiz questions on information that hasn't been taught yet is unfair
Nice guy, I just didn't feel as though I walked away with much. You pretty well teach yourself the course, and pay the school $4,000. Always willing to help you but that doesn't help when you take quizzes nearly everyday over material that had not been taught yet. If you enjoy teaching yourself his class is for you.
This guy was seriously the worst professor I have ever had....one of those who got tenured becuase of his knowledge not for his people skills.
Fontaine is an ok guy, just not that great of a teacher. He gives quizzes pretty regularly about material he covers after you take the quiz which I could never understand. Will take points off quizzes and tests for being one degree/mile off the correct answer. He constantly tries tricking you on both tests and quizzes.
Really not that bad of a teacher. He can be tricky on tests and quizzes if you read the questions fast. He likes to give pre-quizzes before he covers the information. Gives 2 freebie points on every quiz and is always throwing out questions, if you can convince him it was unfair.
Many people hate Fontaine but he really isn't a bad dude. Yeah, his tests and quizzes are tricky sometimes, but he's just trying to make you learn. He is a pretty helpful guy both in the classroom and outside of class. Does have some annoying idiosyncrasies. If you can, do the bonus points! Could be the difference between an A and a B. Good guy
The bad reputation this guy gets is absolute BS - he's by far one of the best professors I've had at Riddle. Quizzes and tests are open book and extra credit opportunities are given. You'll also do the quizzes with a partner. Also makes sure you focus on only the stuff that matters and not the crap. Take him if you can.
I had him for both Turbines and Int'l and Domestic Nav. He is somewhat of a tough teacher, but he is an excellent professor no doubt!! The Turbines class is very interesting, and the Int'l Nav, while not as interesting, is very very useful in the flying world. Most schools do not even include any form of this teaching in their curriculum!!
Would have rather had Vosbury. Fontaine gives quizzes before he teaches the material, which is usually fine, as long as the questions are basic and fair. His are not. They so tricky that its not even worth reading the book before class. Just get an idea where each topic is in the chapter and then try your best on the quiz. I strongly dont recommend
VERY anal and idiosyncratic, but overall a decent teacher. It's possible to get an A in the class, but you have to earn it, and it's not easy
he is really helpfull guy.
Very well organized and makes it clear what is expectd of students. Will try his best to explain something further if you dont understand completely. Great teacher.
Worst professor ever. He makes watching paint dry look like the best day ever.
If you're meticulous and detail-oriented then this class isn't that big of a deal. However, if you are the type of person who makes frequent, small mistakes or who doesn't pay attention to even the smallest detail, your e gunna have a bad time. I can unequivocally say that Vosburry's test are harder than Fontaine's, but just barely.
Horrible teacher. Holds heavily weighted quizes BEFORE he lectures about it. He will test you on things he just mentions in passing in class. Tests are not too hard but have alot of "gotcha" type things in them. Forget about asking for help in class too, the most you'll get inside of class is about 10 seconds. AVOID AT ALL COST.
has RIDICULOUS policies that made me not get an A in the class. He takes points off for silly things that don't even reflect your knowledge level for the course (your final grade should reflect what you learned not your ability to write your name and date exactly as he specifies). I have so much more to say, but my character limit ran out.
Why did he become a teacher? Obviously doesn't care to teach. Be prepared to teach material to yourself & have heavily weighted quizzes on new material. Says you can come get extra help in office but is reluctant to give help when you try. Very frustrating teacher to work with. The material itself isn't difficult- the professor makes it difficult.
Horrible. Avoid him if you have a choice. Does not want students to succeed and is not helpful at all. He does know what he is talking about though but makes you feel dumb every single class. Disappointed in ERAU for hiring/keeping him.
Not helpful and strict Polices. Must pay attention and study.
I had him for dispatch. Every class he always has a plan and sticks to it. It is very fast paced because there is a lot to cover. It is a class you do need to study for.
He has strict policies, but he truly cares if his students are learning the material or not, and he does a good job explaining things. It's not a very easy A, but if you read the homework and pay attention in class (essentially, put forth an effort), it's definitely doable. The class is extremely well structured which I enjoyed
He is a Fontastic Professor. I guarantee you will have a fontanious time in this class.
Take professor Fontaine if you want to actually get $$$$$ worth from tuition. This guy is worth EVERY PENNY. Be prepared for class--print out the reading, highlight the vocab, and especially the quizzes (SAVE OR KILL YOUR GRADE). He gives plenty of extra credit by taking away at least 1 question per quiz and TESTS. I learned a lot and class flew by
He sure has his own thing going on. He's knowledgable on the material he's teaching but he breaks it down into his own way and if you didn't study for it you'll carry on completely lost the whole semester. Tough class but if you're one of the students thats hitting the books and reading all day long it shouldn't be much of a problem.
Airline Dispatch is no joke. You either put in a lot of effort to this class or you don't succeed. Its a lot of stuff crammed into a 50 minute class. He does extremely well managing it, but its up to you to really learn the material. Be prepared and don't let your partner down.
Take Professor Campbell. Prof Fontaine creates a demeaning and difficult learning atmosphere, where the strictness and policy has more importance than the material itself. Extremely condescending, and has no experience using the material in his career. If you are an A student, expect to get a C or lower. If you are a B student, good luck.
Like many of the comments, Fontaine does have his set of rigid formatting policies. He might seem a bit intimidating sometimes. However, he does know his stuff and really makes you work to understand the material. Do your readings, and practice the bonus points, they really help solidify your knowledge. Not the best prof. but he knows his stuff.
his class is one of the worth class in COA. doesn't means others class is useless but he gives me more than other teacher do. Class rule is strict, three hard exams. easy B but hard A. But if you want actually learn something, please take him.
Hes there simply to fulfill the requirements of a dispatcher course. Mostly cares about getting through the content of the day and getting out (hes one of the first people out the classroom at the end of class if that gives you an idea). If you actually want your dispatcher certificate youre gonna need to teach it to yourself pretty much.
Will not take again. His policies are very strict. He is ver demeaning as a teacher and make you feel terrible upon leaving class. I received a decent grade but will never go through that again
Took him for 350 and 410. The dispatch class is all about the manual. Get to know that book in and out because you can use it on the exams and will need it for the practical. He has good resources online for practical prep be sure to use them. If you put in your effort and are really interested in dispatch, this class will be fine.
Wrote the textbooks for both AS350/AS410. Both classes are run in the same framework, and are planned well. Make sure to read and take notes before showing up to each class and you'll be fine. Loves trick questions on quizzes/tests which are all multiple choice. Classes are fast paced but still boring, pay attention to ALL of what he says for tests
He has solid knowledge. His lectures are not organized sometimes
Very strict on things. The test and quiz were full of trick questions. Asking you to measure things and give you options that are 1 or 2 degrees difference, even if you know how to do it you can still mess it up. Impatient, angry, and will make you feel horrible after each class.
He is good professor in my opinion but I definitely understand why some people don't like him. Very challenging class but it is good material and rewarding when you do things correctly. Read all of the material before class and understand it before you come in and it isn't too difficult.
Sink or swim. He is very aggressive in class for the first 2 weeks and about half the class will end up dropping. You have to carefully read his notes and highlight them - the team quizzes and individual tests are fully of trick gotcha questions. Pro: you will learn something. Cons: stressful and test 3 will ruin your grade, that test is a joke.
This is the only professor Ive felt the need to leave a public review. I can guarantee that you wont be respected by professor Fontaine. I witnessed several students belittled for asking questions in class. While he may be knowledgeable on the content, his teaching methods diminish all chances of taking anything of value from the course.
This class is not very difficult but time consuming. If you put in the work, practice, and read the book theres no reason you can't get an A. The class is very structured so you know what to expect. No surprises with Fontaine. Very rewarding class when done correctly.
The worst professor I have taken at riddle. Be prepared to kill a tree to print out everything he wants you to read. Daily quizzes and if you don't answer fast enough he docs your grade. expect to teach yourself and be waking up at 6am to access office hours because that I the only time he is there.
Professor Fontaine isnt a bad professor but he is very tough on his students, although for good reason. If youre looking to just take this class and get credit, take someone else. If you actually want to learn the material, take him. His class wasnt hard if you study a few hours before the exam. Got a B in the class. Quizzes have trick questions
Professor Fontaine was a good Professor but expected a lot from his students. He is vary knowable on the subject matter so be prepared for him to ask tough questions. You get out of the class what you but into it. His quiz's and test questions can be difficult but fair, no surprises. Willing to help if you ask for it.
Fontaine assigns his own texts instead of a traditional textbook which makes preparing for the class really easy. As long as you understand the reading that you have to read before class, you will be prepared. The tests are not hard, you just have to think outside the box and apply the content you learn! There are also class quizzes done together.
