He is nice, but his test is not really easy. He prepare his own notes and answer students question usually. But sometimes i feel he talks to fast and i am not really understand every part he mentions.
Not so clear at times but a very resouceful teacher thats willing to help

Really good guy. Lectures are clear and logical. I took him for 180 and 190, and I would take his classes again.
He has a good sense of humor and i recommend the kid any day aiight.........
He's a nice teacher but his tests are very hard.
Good teacher, very straightforward.. notes, then test, notes then test.. kinda boring, so make sure you don't take this class in the early morning or after lunch (fell asleep a few times) but he's a nice guy, and always answers questions!
He is a good teacher he'll take the time in class to answer all questions. His test are kind of hard so you have to do all the homework. I would take him again he sometimes curves the tests.
I love this guy - ok, so he follows exactly the same outline for every single class (notes, test, repeat ad infinitum), but he's nice, predictable, & answers questions. He's easy to understand in lecture, and very helpful during office hours. A+, kiddo.
The exams are very easy if you do all the homework and pay attention in class. The only problem I had with him was how quick he'd reach for the solutions manual for hard questions. lacks the edge you'd expect of a maths teacher. but it was summer class
Great teacher. I had a C/D average throughout the semester and he gave me a B. His tests are a little difficult , but he goes over everything over and over and always answers questions. Highly recommended.
WE LOVE YOU PROF FRY!!!!!!!!!!!
He is nice and really helful professor. YOU ARE GREAT, FRY !
Take him, You will not regret it!
Wow, what a guy. His lectures are easy and clear, and tells you exactly what will be on quiizzes and tests. FRY, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad i took professor fry.
I like ath because of Preofessor Fry. That's all I gotta say...
DO NOT TAKE SUMMER COURSE... SUPER HARD GUYS! Makes me want to cry myself to sleep =(
Good teacher. He is pretty easy as well. Sometimes he has an interesting way of explaining things, but in the end they always end up making sense. I passed this class even without a book...enough said.
Take the class
Picks the HARDER, more theoretical problems for tests; Not sure weather because it's summer but exams were hard! I dropped along with the rest 3/4 of the class.
very nice man!!! great teacher too...he will help you if you TRY and show up EVERY DAY! take his class, thanks FRY you are the man...also, do not take seydin, hes the devil re-incarnated!
He explains everything so well, you'll feel like you'll be able to pass his tests... WHICH ARE AS HARD AS A ROCK!!!! Beware: the most difficult problems will show up on exams!
he is the best professor...I got a D in his class but only because I was lazy! I retook it w/ other teachers & i never realized what a great and helpful teacher Dr. Fry is! Take him...just do your homework and go to class and you will get an A!
His tests are friggin' hard.
Very helpful!! Will explain until you understand and gives a lot of time every day to HW questions. This is a hard class and takes a lot of work. The tests are far from easy and there are hard questions on there but they are from the examples in class so no suprises. He prepares you well for the tests and the rest is up to you. two thumbs up!!
Fry, was an awesome teacher. pretty helpful and understanding. answers all questions Thoroughly. Definatley recommend him.
He will always seem to stick something on the tests that will get you. So make sure you study the most difficult problems in the section you cover. Quizzes every day that add up to one exam helped my grade. If you look at him during an exam his eyes shift back an fourth. Like a nervous twitch. He never talked about anything so it got a little borin
Tough class but he's a good teacher.
Mr.Fry is very helpful. If you don't understand the material he will help you in the office hours. The tests are hard, but its calculus, thats a hard subject. He was better then my Math 191 teacher.
His class is so boring, and makes students sleepy. Also his test is so hard every time, and there is not enough time to finish it. OH, only some good student can finish. However, his class has no requirement for lab. I recommand another 190 professor whose name is micheal Zeitzew. His test is open book with lab. the lab is earsier than i think.
Mr. Fry is an excellent teacher. The tests are hard, but he gives lots of partial credit for the parts you do right. He doesn't waste time making you do projects that waste time and don't teach you much. He also is very helpful in office hours.
don't take his class. he can't explain/teach at all. i'm very good in math, and he is making it so much harder for me. he can't explain; his tests are a lot diff from what he lectures&homework.
Good teacher. Very clear in his instructions and knows what he's talking about. Would love to take another class with him soon. Take him if you can. He might not be the funniest guy, but you'll get what you need out of it.
He helps lots in office hours. The tests are hard, but are like the homework. Lots of quizzes. He dropped some quizzes, but not tests.
Excellent teacher.his exams r not hard as everybody is saying. easy quizzes. i wish i can take him again.he tries to make the stuff easy n tell u what will be on the test and what will not be. very nice and sometimes funny. I liked his class.Take him:)
I took both classes(191 and 190) with him. He is really nice and cares a lot for his students. Also, his explanations were helpful as I go back to my note whenever I can not underestand my other math teacher.
He's so kind, willing to helping student, his tests are quite easy if you r diligent and listen to his lectures.
He makes Statistics easy to understand. His lectures are clear and helpful. Definitely a nice and cool teacher to talk to! Highly recommend!
plain and simple... there were 45 students enrolled in his spring semester, now there is one month left in the semester, only 20 left at most
Good teacher. Lectures are very detailed and helpful but I must admit it can get a tiny bit boring. WE stated class with about 45 students and by the end there were less than 20. Overall I did learn a great deal. I'm taking him again!
i swear god if ur a wall u would understand what hes saying , he repeat everything and makes it so easy i get so angry when he repeats because will already know it , hes so hopeful we just had a quiz and it was a piece of cake !! maybe just for me but hes great
He is the best teacher able to bad i cant take him anymore... I took his class twice on different courses....he explains everything on detail and will answer all questions... he makes math seem really fun.... 100% recommended
He is the best teacher able to bad i cant take him anymore... I took his class twice on different courses....he explains everything on detail and will answer all questions... he makes math seem really fun.... 100% recommended
Homework is not mandatory
Grade is based on 10 quizzes, 5 exams and 1 final. His exams and quizzes are based on lectures and hw problems. Hw is not mandatory. I got a high B in the class, i would've gotten an A but i never did the homework and i studied his lectures an hour before the test. But his lectures are lengthy and he has a mono tone voice. VERY BORING but easy.
good & helpful
He's a good professor although he's a bit unclear at times and can get lost in his own problems. Then again, it's calculus, what're you gonna do? The tests are tough and a bit hard to study for. All in all, I was happy with my B.
prof fry is like the best prof every in elco. infact,i never realized how intresting math can be, and we did not even use calculators for the test and exams. but he made it so solvable.. had an A+
WOW! I took this guy for statics and he was horrible. I'm not sure where all the positive remarks are coming from. During his lectures he made so many mistakes while solving a problem that by the time he actually finished the problem the entire class was too confused to ask any questions. He would make remarks like "you guys look lost."
He was very helpful after class and in office hours. It was a hard class but he explained it in a good way. Some difficult tests but there is partial credit
This guy's lectures are mind numbingly boring, I think at one point of the class the guy next to me tapped out. Also, he always makes errors on the board . It's been two weeks into the semester and I've already had 3 quizzes- and one exam. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
The class is required is boring sometimes but Mr.Fry explains it nicely. He collects homework on test days. He let us have some take home quiz.
Professor Fry gives lots of quizzes and tests, but they are like the book and the way he says in class.
It is a difficult class with many different topics, but Mr.Fry is so good at explaining what the book can't.
SORRY for the wrong rating before!! I want to rate positive. The class is hard but he is a really good teacher. I went to his office hour a lot. Even he help you outside of the office hours.
I took him for math 270 and i would recommend taking him if you are only concerned with getting the grade but not so much with learning(cos not that great as a teacher probably cos he's inexperienced).Very helpful in his office hours and gives out take home which helps a lot in getting better grade
ZzzZZzzzZzzZz this guy is boring and does not know how to teach
Take home exams and quizzes. Puts notes on website. Does lectures from overhead much of the time. Hard topics but I am getting an A since the grade is based mostly on the take home assignments.
i took his class in Spring. He is so nice. highly recommended!
Difficult instructor during summer session. You need to do all homework--has the most difficult questions on the exam. Take him during regular session--less difficult since you have more time to do all homework.
Prof.Fry is a very nice person, but he glazes over the sections, writes examples on the board, and solves them.He Doesn't make you understand the problems. He lectures after each exam which is horrible because you only have 40 minutes to complete at 4 page exam. Nice guy but wont take him again.
This is the dude. funny, and easy. if you do the homework you will get an A for easy.
Class was hard. Have to study and practice or you will fail. He speaks clearly and he's a funny guy. Easy going teacher, but hard material.
Prof.Fry is possibly the BEST at ELCO! Not only is he v.helpful, knowledgeable and supportive, but one of the nicest human beings you'll ever come accross! Tests are reasonably easy. V.fair grading(not picky), and prepares you v.well! Always willing to answer ur questions anytime (this Data Structures course can get v.tricky) V. highly recommended!
The final was just like the midterms - they were all hard, but fair. Some true false questions are tricky. He gives lots of examples and is helpful in office hours.
this guy is like my favorite math teacher. funny and totally easy going. tells you exactly what's on the exams! i never did the hw nor did i really study that hard. fell asleep and ditched class a few times and still got an A. the way he teaches the material makes it really easy to understand. exams are also very simple as well
i took him for the summer. u gotta put a lot of time studying for this class. especially if ur not a math person like me :( however, he will help u a lot and answers every e-mail. exams concentrate more on the lecture, not the hw. hes a good prof even though the class is a bit difficult.
Great professor, great explanations willing to help you if you put your time and effort in the class....highly recommended!!!!
Horrible teacher. His test are ridiculously long! He says his test will be 13 questions, and yes there where 13 BUT EACH HAD A,B,C part! Each one really hard. Some of the test questions not even what he taught! Extra credit is worth 1 point wth! His grading is also hard. Takes so many points for something small. OH, and quiz every week!
I had this class in the summer. It is fast and the tests are hard, but he helps you and there are lots of handouts and extra problems to practice. Four tests and a final.
His exams are not difficult. Took him for winter. As long as you go over the core material, and understand the concepts presented, you should be more than fine! He reviews hw every class so it clears up a lot of questions students might have. Good professor, a bit scattered with his attack of certain concepts but very clear nonetheless.
don't take his class!!!!!! tests are super long and hard. quiz every week. class are boring:(
Although his teaching is boring, it helps. Math will get better taking his class. But his exams are just too long hard. Seriously, even if you do the homework, it is stil hard to get A. DON'T TAKE G.FRY!
Super great teacher! His really helpful on your understand. Although his lecture is boring, It is quiet helpful on your understanding of concept. Highly recommended! exams are little bit hard
It's hard to go to math class everyday, but Mr. Fry helps you understand it all. Lots of quizzes and tests, but he doesn't collect homework. He gives handouts and practice problems - do them and you will get a good grade.
Mr. Fry is one of the best math professor I have ever had. His lecture is very clear, and he always tries to help students. Exams are little bit tough because there are a lot of questions(questions are easy though). If you study the textbook, you will be fine. Actually I got an easy A. Take his class and you are gonna love math after this class.
Great teacher, very clear and helpful, no homework required. Test are long and quite hard.
Awesome Professor! Assigns homework from the book every class, but does not collect it. It's mainly for your own practice. Weekly quizzes straight out of lecture material. 5 exams and 1 final. Very willing to answer questions. It's a bit of work so don't fall behind!
Don't take. Material covered is not relevant to tests. I dropped and I'm a good student
Really awesome teacher. Will answer questions, will go over things to clarify, will help, all you need to do is ask. He goes out of his way to make extra worksheets for you to practice on. Just attend, pay attention, and do your homework, then you will pass without a doubt. 5 exams, weekly quizzes, and a final exam.
Professor Fry is a good professor. I am terrible at math and had to drop but math 80 was not right class for me, I am in math 73 now and understand everything because I learned it all with Professor Fry. Take him if you need math 80.
his class has a lot of stuffs, and if you are not good at math, dont take his class, and even you are good at math, be careful in his class, easy to get B.C.
There are many many things to learn in this class. Mr. Fry gives handouts and practice problems to help you get it.
He is cares about your success, don't be afraid to ask questions...
TEACHER IS GOOD, BUT HIS TESTS PROBLEMS ARE WAY DIFFERENT THAN HW PROBLEMS SO STUDY HARD AND GO TO OFFICE HRS
Good teacher! I have never seen someone who actually takes the time to make his own notes and them print them for the class. He worked hard to help us learn.
Hand outs hand outs hand outs, he doesn't teach he just spits what's on the hand outs and if he tries to teach he messes up. Half the class always falls asleep due to dull lectures.
Taught in C++. Hard programs, but he extended the deadlines for each of them. Long exams, but he gives partial credit. Doesn't use the textbook much. Lot of slides and handouts.
He is my favorite math teacher so far at the school.
Avoid this teacher because you don't learn anything at all. Lectures are confusing and tests are really hard. I cant stand him. If you want to save your G.P.A. then avoid this teacher.
I've aced 191 under him and now I'm acing his Comp Sci 2 class. Anyone who takes good notes, listens for possible test questions, and actually knows the material he teaches will do very well in his classes. His tests and grading are mildly difficult but very fair. Just pay attention and ask questions; he'll teach you everything you need to know.
I like him more than my Algebra 1 teacher. He doesn't make us do homework online that didn't work half the time. He makes his own problem sheets for you to practice. If you do them you can get a high grade.
This is an interesting class. The professor seems disorganized at times. He extends the due date for assignments sometimes. It's not like other math classes. We have to prove things. And there are calculations too. Lots of topics covered in a short time, but not bad if you read the book and go to the class.
This class is not hard. Don't miss a day though, because you can fall behind easily. No homework which is awesome. Book isn't necessary either, everything comes from the handouts and notes. Great for visual learners because he does a lot of examples on the board. Only problem is he wanders off on unnecessary stuff, so take important notes.
He is clear about the examples on the book (which u can already read)but his tests are way different than the examples and quizzes he gives u so do all the hw if not u wont pass.
This class is so confusing. Do not take it. I took calc in high school and all the stuff i already knew, he completely confused me on. His tests are tough and the material isn't even over what he lectures on. The tests are everything especially since theres no homework to help boost your grade. He's not very helpful either.
He is a friendly guy for the most part but his tests are so hard. You have to explain how you got your answer and he doesn't even give you a study for the test. I took calc in high school and I don't remember it being this hard. He also looks at the wall when he talks to the class, which is a little weird.
The professor gives a take home quiz every week, so you will be busy. He will help you a lot in his office hours, so don't skip that. I had him for two classes - very clear and helpful.
Professor Fry is a great teacher, however, his tests are SO hard. I'm a pretty good student who had gotten all A's thus far and I got a C in this class. He doesn't collect HW so your grade is based all on exams and doesn't prepare the students well. I like him as a person but I do not like his structure of teaching
I received an A in CSCI 1 and I loved the subject but fry is a horrible computer science teacher, I hear he is great at math maybe he should stick to that. I absolutely do not recommend his class, if you are worried about your grade do not take him but then again he is the only one who teaches it. Avoid him at all costs he does extend the lab dates
HE WILL FRY YOUR BRAIN !!! DO NOT TAKE HIM...
Mr Fry was really good for Calculus 1. I will take his class again for Math 191. His tests are hard, but he gives a lot of time to take them and if you study the notes and practice sheets then you can get an A. Bless Mr Fry.
I learned a lot in this class, because Mr. Fry was good at explaining the rules and theorems. He gives many quizzes and 4 exams. No homework collected, but you get lots of practice problems that he gives out or sends to you. No online homewrk. I would take his next class if it worked for my schedule.
This was a fast class in the summer, but Fry was very clear with explaining the math. The quizzes and exams could be hard, but it made me learn it. Fry is a great teacher.
I liked how prof Fry sent the class much needed review sheets and emails of all of his notes. He did not require us to turn in the homework which was a life saver.
He uses LOTS of handouts and does not collect homework (a blessing or curse for some). His exams are not easy, but he covers all possible type of exam questions during review. He was very lenient when it comes to final answers BUT cares more about the correct steps! He was very helpful, but don't fall behind.
DO NOT EVER TAKE HIS CLASS!!! I'm yelling from my deep heart! He teaches very fast and logic-less. I took my 100% attention on the lecture and got nothing after it. After 2 exams, my classmates got forty-ish out of 120! Fry is kind of person who understands it himself but can't make his students understand. Don't waste your time with him!
Prof. Fry was very confusing in lecture because he taught a lot of "what not to do" in extreme detail. He does not grade homework, so grade it based on tests and quizzes only! If you're not a good tester- i do not recommend this class. The book is NEVER used in class but very necessary for extra practice and teaching yourself the lessons.
I didn't do well on the first exam. He gave me help in the office hours. I just wanted to pass the class, but he helped get up to a B. The quizzes every class helped me. Sends practice problems and notes by email. Did not use the textbook much.
Really interesting class. Teacher gives take home quiz every week with lots of problems. Some questions are from the book, some are different. You need the book and his notes. He sends out notes every week. Exams are hard, but he isn't too hard grading, even on the proofs.
7 exams that are 10% each and final exam (comprehensive) worth 30%. Homework isn't collected. His lectures can be confusing and unclear. Exams are tough. Recommend only if you have a strong background in math.
Mr fry is a good teacher. he gives hand-outs and goes over the examples in the book while in class. he also gives quizzes so be on top of you course work and pay attention and you will pass.
I like Mr. Fry. I don't like the book so much, but he gives handouts to help understand. Some weekly quizzes.
Mr Greg is a good Teacher, he gives a lot of practice problems for you to work out at home and he gives a total of 7 exams. He's a little tough on the grading but he's always willing to help his students when asked.
He gives you written hints on difficult test problems, and half of our tests had a "take-home" portion, which basically amounts to free points if you put forth any sort of effort. He is good at answering questions, but is somewhat prone toward making mistakes. Nevertheless, he is very smart and a good professor! Recommended!
Professor Fry was AWESOME! He was always willing to help me with a problem if I needed it. If there wasn't enough time in class for me to get my question answered, then I knew I could send him an email, which he responded to all of them :) If I had more math classes to take, I'd definitely take him again!!
The class meets four days per week and he gives a quiz almost every day on the homework. Good it keeps you studying and you are ready for the test. It might seem like too much math, but he makes it easier to understand. And he helps in office hours if you go.
He helps you if you ask questions. Calculus is so hard so you have to do homework and go ask him if you don't get it. Tests can be hard, but they are like the examples most of the time. I am transferring now and I know I am ready for that.
Just participate in class and do problems that are on his notes. Books are not mandatory (I did not have a book) There are quizzes almost every day and exams every 3wks? which keeps you prepared for the final. His exams are not that tough if you practice. Highly recommended
clear lecture helps if your stuck couple trick questions on exam
I love Mr. Fry! He's the best! He's well-organized, well-expressed, inspired, experienced. Math 191&210 are fun class because of Mr Fry. Quiz could be easy if you pay attention during his lecture. Exams are far easier than the quiz. He gives handouts which are very helpful. He recommends students to attend the math contest and gives extra credits.
Lecture's helpful. Textbook is useless piece of garbage. Just download the pdf version of the textbook for free by searching on google, as you still need it cuz some of quiz questions are assigned from the textbook. Very important to not get behind the material. OverStackFlow really helped me get through this class, not the textbook. I got an A.
I took Calc 2 in the summer - it went very fast, but Mr. Fry helped me. He gives lots of handouts with practice problems. There are four tests and he doesn't drop any. There are quizzes sometimes. I learned a lot. He makes you work hard, but he makes sense explaining the hard things.
Mr. Fry sends you his notes with practice problems. You should also have the book for other problems. Tests can be long, but he grades fairly and gives points for doing some of it right. I want to take him for math 220 I hope.
This is a really challenging class, if you are not good with math don't take him it is a really hard class 7 exams, 20 quizzes.
Professor Fry is an extremely nice guy. He is very clear and organized. He makes sure you learn every part of of calc 2. Like EVERYTHING. He gives a lot of practice problems from emailed notes and book, and you should do them if you want to do well. I recommend for math/engineering majors. He is probably the best prof to prepare you for your future
Mr. Fry is very smart and he knows his stuff. There are quizzes and exams. Homework not required, but you have to do the problems to get good scores on the quizzes. Even extra credit for the math contest. Helpful in office hours.
Fry is great. I took him for Math 191 and Math 210. The classes are hard, but he helps you if you ask. I want to take Math 220 with him.
Took him for Winter 2018, the class was fast-paced but not too hard because of Fry's amazing lectures and the notes he emails you. I regret not taking him for 220, he's definitely the best math professor at El Camino.
Currently taking him. Hes straight forward and has 6 exams,12 quizzes and a finals. This layout made the class so clear. He also has a LOT of the quizzes take home and you can still turn it in after class. Go to his office hours, I realized hes good with one on one conversations and shows you extra problems. Solid professor.
This class is harder than math 190. Prof Fry makes it less intimidating. He gives you copies of class notes and many practice problems. It has some interesting topics, like polar graphs and sequences. You have to work hard to understand it all but Prof Fry will help.
Really great professor and the fact that he emails his notes after every class makes it easier to study for his quizzes and tests. As long as you study his notes and and do the hw problems in the James Stewart book you will DEFINITELY be prepared for his tests and final. Lots of take home quizzes that are tough but doable.
Doesnt let you use calculators, lectures pretty quickly and exams are nothing like homeworks(he doesnt collect hw) your grade is based off of just 5 exams and quizzes every class but quizzes are only a small portion of your grade. He emails notes but tests are so hard it doesnt matter. Do not take him unless you are able to teach yourself!!!
Took him for math 210 and math 191. Sends notes out every week. Lectures are good, sometimes not the same as the notes. Tests fair if you do the practice problems since they are like these problems. I wanted to take math 220 with him, but he wasn't teaching it.
His class is tough because he does not allow calculators and you are only graded on exams. He has homework, but it is not collected. He does have take home parts of the exam.
Took him for 210 tough class, but it has helped me a lot for my classes when I transferred. Exams are very similar to the lectures.
There is a weekly take home quiz. The exams were like the quizzes. It's very hard class. He tries to make it easier.
Fry is a great prof and mathematician. Ask him about anything math related and he may know more than a textbook would. There is homework, but it's worth nothing. It's good practice for exams but those problems are typically unlike what is on the homework. Quizzes are typically take-home but only amount to 10% of the grade. Exams are EVERYTHING.
90 percent of your grade is depended on 4.5 tests. test are pretty difficult.
For MATH210 make sure to take Fry instead of Eldanaf. Organized lectures from his own notes, optional homework, 1 in class quiz (the 1st) and 10 take home quizzes. 3 out of the 4 exams have take home portions (25% of the exam grade) and he's very transparent on what will be on the exams. Exams weigh heavy on grade but he's a very generous grader.
Prof Fry is easily the most difficult professor I've ever had. I passed MATH 190 with a B and hoped to at least get a C or higher in this class but he is extremely difficult. I literally spent hours in the Math tutoring center and still struggled with his Exams. His Exams are not structured like any of the examples he gives. Don't take this class.
He gives many handouts that have examples and practices. The test is like the practice. You have to study hard but it is worth it. No cheat sheet or calculator on tests. Go to office hours he will help
For Discrete Math: Quizzes resemble homework's harder questions. Exams are more like his lectures and notes. Exams & final can have take-home portion that is 25% of the grade of that exam. Suggestion, do homework so you can do quizzes, but quizzes "only" account for 10%. Read notes & attend class for exams which is the other 90%.
Hard class. Study his notes and do the problems to get a good grade. Ask questions he will answer.
Don't take this class. He will Fry your brain.
Your entire grade is based on exams and quizzes. Exams are very difficult, so if you're not a good test taker, i strongly do not recommend taking him. I devoted so much time to studying and still was not able to pass.
A lot of math topics in the class. Quizzes about each chapter are take home. Exams every month. Some extra credit. Interesting topics, but you need to study
Do not take this class with him! His tests are extremely difficult and you really have to teach yourself. If you have a photographic memory then you will do well. But, every one of his exam questions has a multitude of concepts built into each one, even not included in the unit!
The class was online for the last few weeks. Lots of online lectures and practice problems. Exams are tough but the grading is fair. Plan to take 220 with him.
I dropped his class a while back because I couldn't handle his tests. In-person classes with him was hard especially since he was monotone so it made me almost fall asleep in class. Can people please rate how online classes with him are going? I am debating to give another chance for summer online calc 191.
Do not take this class! His lectures are the most boring. Problems given in the notes are nothing like the exams. Quizzes every class period. Be prepared to fail. Worst class ever. 4 exams (60%), 1 cumulative final (30%). Quizzes are only a mere 10%.
I really wanted to like him. Honestly, I was hoping the bad reviews were just some upset students. I was wrong. Lectures r boring & the tests have questions that r completely different from what was taught. There's a fine line btwn having students think critically and tricking them. He crosses that line a lot. He uses proctorio which SUCKS! RUN!
rude, wants overly specific things on tests but doesnt specify what he wants on them. LIke the exam would only say solve this problem but he would want them to graped and done on table when it doesnt say so. Relays on an outdated email service to communicate with students doesnt use canvas. Notes are tedious to acces and doesnt relate to anything
Honestly , i had hope for this man . He seams like a great guy but I know deep down inside he simply doesnt care. No lectures online . Only notes . Your learning on your own basically . Uses canvas but its so hard to get a hold of him . You literally have to spam the dude . In my opinion, if you wana loose interest in your major . Take him.
Covid review: His "lectures" are very dull, they're just videos done on a black screen kind of like a chalkboard, very snooze, low effort. He uses proctorio to prevent cheating, fair. Weekly quizzes, exams are the bigger chunk of your grade. You must be a great self learner, otherwise not even chegg or mathway can help you.
Discrete mathematics is a tough class and taking it online is even worse. Fry gave out quizzes every week, a few exams, and a final. Don't underestimate his ability to choose tricky questions to test your knowledge of each concept, use the quizzes to study and look for mistakes in his lectures as he grants extra credit to those who find them.
He has the worst lectures. Simple problems gone over in videos, super hard problems on tests (uses PROCTORIO). Its hard to reach him, he only communicates through email. Good luck asking questions. He just writes down solutions, he doesnt TEACH.
Mister Fry was very good at explaining calculus. My second time taking this course. This time I understood it. I like the videos he made and he helps a lot in office hours if you go there. Lots of tests and quizzes, but he grades them with lots of comments. Thank you.
Asynchronous online class has hours and hours of hard to understand lectures. Test questions are always much, much harder than those he goes over in lectures. Office hours are only useful if you are very aggressive because too many people are there to ask THEIR questions. Tutoring center refers you to integral calculators -unhelpful.
I'm just going to tell you that his exams are pretty hard, he is patient but his explanation just makes me more confused, I even went to watch another tutoring from YouTube so I can understand a little more. Anyway, I don't recommend taking his class, I got an A in Math 190, but still, fail in his 191 and decided to drop it. But everyone different.
The class has no class times scheduled, so watch videos at your own time. Go to office hours on the zoom for lots of help. He stays long to help you figure it out. I have to take math 220 next. I wish fry were teaching it.
I recommend Professor Fry to anyone who wants to learn the Calculus in detail. Feedback from exams are great. The lectures along with the practice problems are very useful, making sure to practice a lot is crucial. Professor Fry cares for his students so don't be afraid to take his course. Its important to study and practice the problems provided.
Go to office hours! His class and exams are difficult, but he is definitely supportive and will help you get the grade you want. During office hours, you can usually ask any questions you have, and he'll recommend good problems to practice for the test. However, there's no extra credit, curves, or test drops, so he really makes you earn your grade!
This was my favorite class. There are many topics that are interesting. Number theory is my favorite with the encryption material. Take home quizzes are long. The exams are fair like the quizzes. I recommend him.
Nothing against Professor Fry, he seems like a chill guy. I would say his lectures could help a lot if the exams were similar to them. His style of exams doesn't really make the class all that enjoyable. If you take his class his exams are kind of lengthy with such little time to do it.
Wish I hadn't taken Fry. 16 week course that felt like a summer/winter course. 70% of grade from 7 exams (literally had one EVERY OTHER WEEK), 20% from final, 10% from weekly "quizzes"; all exams closed notes/book (respondus). This format required you to master material within less than 2 weeks of being introduced to it. Insanely stressful & unjust
Professor Fry is the best for those who want to learn Calculus at a deeper level. I had to withdraw due to health problems. His exams are not easy and you have to work for your grade. The textbook work and handouts are fair game for exams.
Mr Fry was a good teacher. Very helpful if you need help. Lots of quizzes with lots of comments helps on the exams later. I would take him again but I am transferring.
Calculus II and III are the key-points in my academics since I met one of the best math professors, Greg Fry, in college. I was inspired by his teaching that came with all his heart and soul, so I decided to learn more about math and also took a math major. Don't miss the chance to help you achieve success. I enrolled in UC Berkeley, Applied Math.
He was awful! Unecessarily long tests with little time. Test questions were much harder than solved examples. We were graded solely on our exams; no quizzes or assignments to support the grade. We had exams literally every week. I got an A in math 190 so I was really looking forward to this class, but I absolutely hated it.
Test don't really reflect lectures. I thought I understood the lectures and problems but this professor just makes the test questions a lot harder. And since exams are your only grade it really does end up hurting you. idk this dude is like the head of math department so ig he doesn't go easy.
I took him because of the reviews but guys RUN. His lectures seem easy and you can handle them, but the exams are more complicated than what you expect. He uses PROCTORIO. If you want to pass, take another professor. Also, don't think his class is easy because it's asynchronous.
His videos are really good. I learned a lot. There are take home quizzes every week. I liked the number theory the best. I would take another class with him but I am done with math now at this school.
He is really good at responding to questions. The tests are returned in a day or two. He has videos that are clear most of the time. Asking questions helped me.
Nice guy but horrible exams. Content is okay, but his exams are ridiculous. So many people dropped. Only 5 people showed up for the final. He is is super helpful in office hours, however, he grades harshly, has almost no extra credit opportunities, 4 exams are 80% of grade, and no curve. He disables class average in Canvas because it is that low.
[Async] Professor Fry is a nice guy. However, some of his lectures could use more explaining but going to his office hours helped. There are 10 take home quizzes and in my opinion, his exam questions are easier. There are a lot of video lectures to watch so I would only recommend taking this class if you know you will be responsible enough.
Responds quick to emails. Grades easy on tests. Flexible with time for taking test. Gives take-home quizzes and you can ask questions about some problems. Easy A if you pay attention to his lectures and try out some of the homework problems which aren't due.
You have to go to the zoom office hours if you need help. He spent a lot of time helping me understand. The videos are good, but sometimes I needed help on the problems. He gave good hints. I would take him for Math 270 but he said he is not teaching it soon. I wish I had him for other calculus before because he explains it well.
He gives lots of practice problems. If you do them the way he wants you get a good score. I know because I did it a different way he didn't like, but his way made sense after I did it. It's a hybrid, so watch video, but you can ask him questions in class, he also lectures too. It's a tough class but he helps in office hour too.
no credit for homework and exams were nothing like the practice problems assigned. no calculators, or cheat sheets, and way more information required to memorize than other professors. would not recommend
I needed an B, not a C. I was going to drop. But Dr Fry helped me to stay and had extra zoom office time to help me. I got B. There are many problems to practice but it helps. The videos are good.
Fry is a nice guy but expects far too much compared to others. You have to self-teach to survive, most of the class dropped. Doesn't drop anything, and everything is tests tests tests. Just take Marks, online only isn't worth the crazy stress you put yourself through. You have 1 bad test and you either drop or at best get a guaranteed B.
The test is long but only gives a short time to finish. No homework and the grade is only depends on quizs and exams. Don't choose this professor.
I took this online. He has good videos. He graded take home quizzes each week. The tests were online like the quizzes. I want to take his Math 220 class too next time. I had to work hard, but I learned it better than my math 190 that my teacher was maybe too easy.
He uses respondus + webcam which is a total invasion of privacy. Grades bad, and the basically need to teach yourself the material. Take another prof while you can
There are videos for every chapter. And notes and practice problems. If you do them you can learn it. It was hard to do in winter but he helped in zoom office hour if you have questions.
This is a good online distance class. I like the videos and he is helpful if you send him messages. I want to take the next class with him if I can. I recommend but you have to do work it is calculus so you have to.
Took this professor online and the only thing in your grade that matters is your test scores. Extra credit not offered and his lectures lack energy. I didn't understand his explanations of the material at all because he rambles too much. Take any other professor than this one unless your an excellent test taker and can learn by yourself.
I like discrete math with all the different topics like number theory and encryption. He explains it well in the videos and if you talk to him. He gives links to other interesting videos that explain it well, too. It's online, lots of work, but you learn a lot if you try.
Lots of quizzes, but they are take home that you can get help on and work together. The exams in class. They are hard but if you practice it is not that bad but takes lots of time. I learned a lot, it's a good class, I like his system.
You cover 5 chapters, there is a lot of integrating an trigonometry, but the teacher reviews it if you need it. He lectures live in the class room, but he will send you links to his online lecture if you ask - they can help for reviewing, but he says don't look too much at those, to do lots of homework instead, which is true, practice really helps
he's a nervous wreck, everyone dropped by the end. cool guy though.
On first day of class, he didn't review materials enough, and gave you quiz after that day which is within same week that quiz must be taken. He also prohibits the use of calculator during the quizzes and exams. You will have to study very hard to be able to pass his class if you want to survive.
I took Mr. Fry's Math 191 class last year. He covers everything very clearly, much more than my other math teachers who don't really try to explain it all. I recommend you to take his classes.
Great guy, bad teacher. He is approachable and does try to help you out but he is just awful at teaching. He does problems on the board and expects you to understand. No cheat sheet, calculator, or anything on exams. There are also two finals. One cumulative and one more focused on the recent topics. And no exams get dropped.
This class Discrete Mathematics is a really fun class. Fry is very helpful, good videos, helps with the homework that are graded each week. This class is so interesting, maybe I change to math major from csci. Good class, but will keep you busy.
Hw every Tuesday, lecture heavy course. 4 exams worth most of your grade, 8 x 11 proof sheet is allowed. For both hw and exam you write on a paper and scan and submit it to Gradescope. Exams proctored via Lockdown Browser(webcam) must show hands. Exams are curved. Not an easy A, must put in study time plus attend office hours to understand material
Professor Fry is most helpful and very patient when explaining process of problem-solving.
Professor Fry has a very specific teaching style, but engaging with it can pay off. No cheat sheets or calculators on exams, so you'll need to really master the material. Luckily, the course videos and weekly quizzes are helpful. Unstuck ai was a great study tool alongside the textbook.
Hi is really good. He will help you with concepts and the quiz questions in his office hours. He will make special office hour time for you on Zoom, it helps with busy work schedules. A lot of work, but you learn a lot.
I liked this class because it has a lot of interesting topics like number theory. The videos this professor made are really helpful with cool examples. There are lots of proofs but the teacher is not too tough on grading them. He helps you on the practice if you ask.
I really like this class it is hybrid. We met once a week. There are lectures to watch on video by yourself and some lectures are in the class. The quizzes are take home and you have a week and you can ask questions about it. The exams are like the quizzes, so not big surprises on exams. I'm stem so this was a helpful class for my major.
Very tough exams. You must master all materials and be able to combine concepts to answer a good portion of questions. Good lectures but do not take unless you're an amazing test-taker (80% of our grades was tests for us). Many drops.
(Writing review a year late) This was my first experience with a 100% quizzes/tests graded class; it was a LOT of work. Our class joked our grades were up to the "fry point lottery," but really his tests were fair tests of content, just long and difficult. Hated the class at times but my knowledge of MV calc is very strong because of this class.
This is a fun class. Fry makes good videos and has links to other cool optional videos about things like how bitcoin works mathematically. Lots of quizzes, but you can do those on your own time for a week before turning them in. He explains well.
It's an online class. His videos are helpful, he made them himself, so if you go to his office hour it's the same person as in the videos. There is quiz each week, several exams. Fair grader. Interesting topics.
We started his class with 35 people. 27 dropped. Don't take this guy if you can. IDK what the other commentators are talking about but I only know 1 person who's ever passed this guy's calc 2. I know successful electrical engineers who have failed this class in the past. Go here if you think your GPA is too high and could use humbling.
This was an informative class. Prof Fry really tries to get you to understand the concepts, I like that, some profs don't do that. There are many formulas and it helps to see how they are connected, he helps do that. Tests are reasonable, based on take home quiz that you get every week.
Course is very difficult. So far I have a 4.0 in PHYS 1A, MATH 190, Assembly and GEs. Materials were created quickly during the pandemic and do not prepare for exams properly. Spent 3/4 (not hyperbole) of my time this semester in this class. I got an A in 191 while trying my best for a B. Got a C. 155 lb 3 weeks before finals to 145 lb after.
Had Professor Fry for M191 online. It was VERY test-heavy and graded extremely harshly. Assigned async quizzes each week, but again would grade harshly. Would get the right answer, but mark me off for not using some equations from his vids or forgetting a symbol or two, which he would take off 5 points for. Would not take his class again. Avoid!!!
His class was tough, but if you work on it you can do well. There were weekly take home quizzes that where similar to the exams in class later. I like this class more than M191. I took Calc 1 at another school. His Zoom office hours were helpful, because I couldn't make his regular office hours, he stayed late if you had more questions.
Wow, he is really helpful if you ask questions. There are videos to watch, but he lectures as well. In office hours you can get a lot of help. He also helped me review my trig, it really helps to know that well. I want to take the next class with him, but I don't think he's teaching it.
Terrible teacher, everyone dropped. Best to avoid. Stay FAR FAR Away! His homework doesn't reflect his tests at all and is not lenient at all in his grading. This is your sign if anything.
I took this class in the spring of 2025, and am currently retaking it with another professor. There are other 191 professors who won't make learning and passing 191 nearly as hard as Prof. Fry. His class was very test heavy. His homework DID NOT reflect what was on the test. The problems on the test were much harder than any homework problems.
I took Math 190 online. He has good lecture videos and the office hours are really good, he will answer all your questions, even about algebra which I forgot. The tests aren't so bad if you study and make sure you know the algebra.
Lectures suck. Quizzes every class for the first 4 or 5 weeks, then many are take-home. Online vids are great. Hw not mandatory. Alr exams. Yaps too much. He will come up if you ask any1 about the worst profs at ecc. Avoid if you can. Class isn't hard conceptually, but you have to put in much more effort than in another class to get the same grade.
Prof Fry was very helpful to me. He had online office hours which worked well for my schedule, very good at answering questions. The video lectures were clear, he lectured in class but posted the video too. Quizzes every week are not too bad you do them at home. The tests were every month and you could replace a bad one, which helped.
