I you are not a chem major take someone else. He is very smart but hard. Will tel you too much information.
Good Professor. What you put in is what you will get out as far as your grade goes. . .

I thought he was a fun teacher and he was there to help (if you asked for it). I found that the people in my class that thought he was difficult or unfair, were the slacker students that didn't seem to want to be in class to begin with.
ARC's official pyromaniac and the Chem department's favorite gentleman. One of the few Chem teachers with enough common sense to not be strict with lab reports. Merciful guy. Get to know him and you'll love him.
Very good professor, the classes are fun, with demonstrations, blowing/burning stuff, etc. He always give handouts, homework, etc. It is not an easy class, but at least it is fun.
I've taken other chem teachers before and this guy knows his stuff. Nont only that but he knows we are all human and that things come up. He is helpfull, willing help you with problems, and is just a fun guy. Makes chemistry interesting and dare I say fun.
had to teach myself pretty much everything
Unfair & unreasonable with grades. He gives no partial credit on labs & hw, & almost none on tests. You ask him a question & he says to look in the book. Why am I paying money to learn from a book! Purposely makes tests hard. Avg. on almost every test has been in the 60s. I think there's only 1 A.

Dr. J's class was difficult because he doesn't spoon feed the information. You'll end up doing a lot of the work on your own, but he makes himself available to help you work through the problems. His class can be a struggle, but it turned out to be worth it.
Mr. J is very nice and helpful teacher. His tests are hard but if you know the concepts than you will do good job. 'Just keep with labs and homework, you will do fine. Important to attend all lectures and lab. Just keep trying. Remember....study smart and hard....
He plays favorites, and he likes to use the phrase, "Look in the book." However, he can be pretty nice, and odd from time to time. You can't be a minute late without being marked down when you turn in your homework and labs. He is not very understanding, and I would suggest taking someone else.
HE IS A COOL GUY! CAN BE HARD BUT DOU UR THING, U WILL BE OK. HE IS FUNNY AND HE MAKES THE CLASS FUN. MAKE SURE U RETURN UR LAB AND DO UR HOME WORK, NOT ONLY BECAUSE HE COLLECTS THEM BUT THAT IS THE BEST WAUY TO LEARN, AT LEAST FOR ME. SO HAVE FUN!

For chemistry this was a surprisingly easy class, and Dr. J keeps things interesting. He's a great guy, and he's definitely got a sense of humor. Oh, and he loves to blow stuff up. I highly recommend taking chem 400 from him. Just work hard and you'll nail an A!
The tests are challenging and you have to learn a lot of the material on your own. However, he's willing to help and he makes chem fun.
Cool person to hang out with, don't be fooled by his easy going personality. When it comes to the tests you'll be saying to yourself,"he has barley mentioned any of this. You'll need a tutor and lectures are pointless, he's more interested in rambling on. Read your book and study every day. Tests are gruesome.
Provides good demonstrations in lecture. Does acceptable lectures on the material. Does not allow the use of graphing calculators, which makes the class more difficult.
neat guy, really fun class atmosphere, he WILL test you on the random things you talk about in lecture, so GO TO CLASS and youll be fine. its a hard subject, and most questions you ask him he will make you figure out for yourself while he just gives you hints. overall, a very passable class if you put in the time!
do not take his class, his interest is only to fail you
this guy is bad news
Greg is a great teacher and a great person. Chemistry is just HARD, so get over it babies, theres a long road ahead
This guy is a joke, hes only interested in failing you. I knew my stuff, he knew i knew my stuff, he just gave me a C coz i never kissed his ass. If u can kiss his ass, hes gonna pass u no matter what. if not, prepare to get a C or less. if u have ANY question: read the book he'll say!
Very interesting teachers...everyone will have their own opinion but he is a very fun teacher...a bit cheesy at times...but the demos are awesome.
Prof Jorgensen adds humor to an otherwise dry subject. His lectures are good, but if you struggle with math or have been out of school for awhile, be prepared to work very hard. Strongly recommend study groups, reading the assigned textbook chps and do the end of chp reviews, if you want to pass.
IF YOU LIKE SELFEDUCATION THIS IS YOU CHANCE. HE ALMOST NEVER WORKS WITH STUDENTS.
He's the worst teacher I ever had. He made me hate chemisty even though I loved it back in high school. His tests are very hard, and it's not multiple choice questions where you can't guess, if you don't know the answer - too bad, you'd have to leave it blank. The labs are ok. I don't recommned taking him!!!!
Just like what some people here said. It's a self-study class. Chapter Tests Wednesdays, key terms quiz on fridays. It's really hardwork. His lectures are really useless. I always feel sleepy and tired in his class. When I ask for explanation, he can't seem to explain well. He will then just give up and say "Just do the exercises or read the book"
Dr. Jorgensen is an entertaining teacher. He may not be the most detailed lecturer, but he comes to class prepared and shows really neat examples of chemical reactions in class. If you need help, he will assist you IF you ask for it. Otherwise, you are responsible for how much effort you put into it, and the results you get out of it.
He does take the time to help you with your questions after class but other than that, not a real effective teacher. Ultra paranoid about cheaters.
Probably the best instructor I have ever had.He is always happy, passionate about Chemistry, and excited to help. He is always on time, with a well prepared lesson plan and anxious to get others excited about Chemistry. He is very fair and straight forward about what is going to be on the exams. He is also very nerdy and dorky, great sense of humor.
He is a good facilitator. Be prepared 2 work 4 ur grade. U will get out of the class what u put into it. He tells and shows u essentially everything u need 4 tests. he is fun, a little wacko, and enjoys his job. He also enjoys teaching and makes himself very avail 2 his students. Be sure 2 go 2 him when you have ?s. Great prof. prepares us for 40
don't waste time if want to know chem 305
One of the best professors I have ever had. Heck of a nice guy, and funny. Can't coast through the class, but he will definitely help you to think on your own. Awesome overall
Awesome teacher. Kind of hard but it's great that he tests every week that way the tests are short and you can study in small parts.
This guy is awesome! Very helpful if you have any questions, wont spoon feed you the answers, but rather gives you little hints and makes you think. All the bad comments on here are from people who are bitter about there grades, didnt try hard, and expect there grade to be handed to them on a silver platter. Keep up the good work Dr. J -Elliott
Great class, cares about his students.
AWESOME PROFESSOR! WILL TAKE ANOTHER ONE OF HIS CLASSES! IF WE COULD JUST GET HIM TO TEACH ORGANIC :)
He is a nice teacher. I was sure he is a good prof from the first day of the class. Yes, you must read the textbook and practice solving the problems to do good on the tests. Overall, his tests are not hard (of course, if you study). You can even call him to his home phone if you need help! Take him, but study the material and you'll be OK.
GREAT professor. i dont understand how he got any bad comments. really funny and helpful. its not an easy a class, but you really learn the material, and if you put in the work (DO THE CHAPTER PROBLEMS HE ASSIGNS), an a is very doable.
WF class with a chapter test every W and quiz every F. Minimal lecturing, MUST read textbook to do well on tests. If you read/do the practice problems, you will do great on tests. People who get bad grades don't try. However, he makes many sexual comments and drug references trying to be funny and I think it's inappropriate. Makes me uncomfortable.
comes off as being hard but really wants you to learn. not an easy A if thats what your looking for. I worked my butt off all semester studing in this class, chap test every wed and terms quiz every fri. I got a B, but it wasent easy!
After reading the comments from this i almost didn't take this class, but after i did enroll, i found that he was a really funny teacher. Very dorky and his visual examples made me go to class. I'm not going to lie and say it's easy, but what chem class is. It was moderately hard, but so far the easiest out of all the chem teachers i've had.
He is a great teacher. You MUST read the book before the lectures and labs. Memorize ALL the equations and periodic table or you are screwed. I had to withdraw I had too much on my plate. Good Luck.
OMG Sex and drugs? Finally chemistry is FUN!!!
He wants to help us. He regularly tells us our grades since hid gradebook is updated regularly. Class is fun, of course there r some boring topics. He seems 2 treat everyone fairly, and with friendliness and sincerity. As a person of color, I feel nothing that a previous student wrote. All he asks is for u to take responsibility for ur learning
No one should have a zero for "hotness"
Jorgensen is the best chem professor there is! There is always a chapter test on tuesdays and a terms quiz on thursdays. The tests are not too hard if you read the book and do some practice questions. He connects chemistry to daily life, making it more than just chemical formulas and boing lectures. Amazing teacher.
Professor Jorgenson is a great professor who wants all his students to succeed. He makes it possible to pass chemistry.I recommend him.
Took Dr J Fall 09. He was out for about a month due to surgery, so our class was passed around to the rest of the chem dept [Meadows,Wheaton,Goodwin and some other guy]. Must say I enjoyed Dr. J's lectures the most, however if you want to do well on the exams you MUST READ THE BOOK. Got As on most of my exams, nearly bombed the final and got an A.
K so I suck at Chem, and I always have. I am currently in his Chem305 class and I have never met a teacher more willing to help you learn! He will go out of his way to help you out. (he was on the phone with me in the parking lot of a movie theatre because I had a question!)Science is not my forte, but if Im going to get through it it will be w/him
Ok, so I like the balder guys who live in the woods! He was an awesome professor. Lectures were exciting and he like to blow things up. And since I know he is going to read this. I liked that he talked about sex and drugs... it related the material to us younger crowd.
I love this Chem class! I failed Chem in high school, but as of now, I'm passing with an A. You do have to study because obviously Chem is not easy. But it's very doable in his class and he is always avail to the students. Take him!
Dr. J. made Chemistry class tolerable. He's funny, and likes to joke. He tests thoroughly on the chapts. so you have to study and read the book. He's a good professor to take.
Dr. J. made Chemistry class tolerable. He's funny, and likes to joke. He tests thoroughly on the chapts. so you have to study and read the book. He's a good professor to take.
Dr.J is a great teacher! I highly recommend taking him. Chem is not easy and you have to study a lot, but he is available to help you if you ask. He makes class fun and yes he likes to blow things up so be careful if you sit in the front row.
Love this Teacher! I would have dropped it if it wasnt for him. He give you ever opertunity to pass his class. Chm is a hard class period! but he mad it a little less of a headache. Class is strait forward. so nice having 1 test a week on 1chapt. instead of 1or2 test a month on 3or4 chapts. he truely want to help you pass this class.
DR J IS AMAZING AT WHAT HE DOES LOVED THIS TEACHER...SOO FUNNY AND HE CAN RELATE TO US YOUNGER STUDENTS BY REFERING TO SEX AND DRUGS HAHA BUT HE DOES SO IN A HELPFUL MANNER...I WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER BUT U DO NEED TO STUDY
Dr. J is the GREATEST teacher ever! I will recommend him to everyone & if I ever have to take another chemistry class I will take him. He is the most helpful teacher, he gives you his personal phone # if you need help. He's super funny, and makes class so fun that you'll never want to miss it. He makes chemistry easy for anyone to understand.
Take Dr. Jorgy! He's absolutely wonderful! Don't get me wrong, the class is hard, and you have to study on your own time, but J makes it fun and worth while, he relates the material to everyday life in an interesting and enjoyable way. One test and one terms quiz per week per chapter.
Greg is a good professor. Very laid back, sarcastic, makes the class fun. Chem 305 is very basic, should get an A if you do some studying. He wants everybody to get a good grade so he is extremely helpful. It's important to show up to labs, easy points. I highly recommend taking his class.
Dr. J is alright. At first I hated his guts and wanted to drop , but needed the class. He is a pretty nice guy, but lacking in some teaching skills. He says he is available to help, but when you go ask he gives you the run around or tells you to come back later. If you are willing to work hard and study and go to all of the classes you'll be fine.
He is a nice easy going guy. However...you cant miss no days cuz he dont give makeups (no matter what). God forbid you write slower than he talks cuz he wont answer your questions. His answer is always "look in your notes" And unless your a flirty hot chick don't expect him to go easy. if you dont understand the labs it secretly irritates him.
Hard class but if you read your text book and prepare for the quizzes, you'll be fine. Everything you need to know for the quizzes is in the text book and quizzes are not too hard. Professor has a great sense of humor but can be rather unfair at times and not too helpful.
HANDS DOWN! HE SHOULD BE EVERYONE'S NUMBER ONE CHOICE.I WAS "BLESSED" TO TAKE HIS CHEM CLASS. I CAN'T EVEN DESRCIBE HIM HE'S AN AMAZING TEACHER! HE'S AWESOME!!!
Worst teacher ever! He is not willing to help you to learn. Don?t ask him question, he will not answer. His answer is always "look in your notes". Has bad teaching style. I do not recommend him.
Hes really fun, he shows you chemistry by blowing things up. Lets face it, any chem teacher who is the 1st to blame for a fire alarm is grade A! I dont know why people said he was hard or rude, because I think he is a really great teacher.
Prof. Jorgensen is a good chem instructor! Some people say this class is hard....well they probably don't read the book! He tests you by only 1 chapter a week...yes u have to study each week but then it helps u study only for that one chapter rather than having like 3 exams/semester with 5 chapters in each one! Plus he blows stuff up! Read the book
All I can say is OMG! He is very hard, he will never, ever answer any of your questions. He will tell you go read the chapter:( In the LAB be very careful about the Significant Digits, or any thing. He is not so helpful what so ever. The end!
I had to drop, but 50% of students in this class were retakers.. He is a fun teacher, however you must study intensively on your own with book, his lectures only help you fallow along with chapters. Each class he gives either a quiz or test, so every class day you must attend for points.
Awesome teacher. His lectures are clear and helpful. Do NOT get behind on your readings, it is a Chem class so expect to study hard. When you do your readings, make sure you understand it, otherwise you will have a hard time in that class. Few lab questions might appear on the test. You will have 1 Test and 1 Quiz per week/chapter. Fun class..
Okay I had to post this. A lot of the nice comments are misleading. I think it is because the people who have good revs are the ones who got good grades beacause of bad reasons. Only take him if you have a lot of time and think chemistry is your world. He is'nt that bad, good points:organized tests(though too many), organized schedules, entertaining
He follows the book, but sometimes provides different methods to solve problems (A good thing). Chem is hard, he is not. The complainers are complaining since they did/do not want to work. Trust me, it will only get harder. Learn from the class now or struggle more later. If you want an A without working, then find another prof or school.
as any class, you must do the work.. tests weekly, but during lecture he hits all key points that cover majority of the tests. STUDY and you will succeed... he is very helpful and makes the class very interesting so that you WANT to learn the subject .being that this was my first science class. Deff would take him again if he had other courses.
Great teacher! He helps you understand chemistry through everyday practical exammples. He was my fourth attempt at chemistry. I truely did not believe I would get through this class. I ended the semester with an A. You have to show up to every class, study everyday, and find other like minded students in the class who you can study with.
only got a c because had to miss a whole week of class. test or quiz weekly but amazing teacher! drops lowest quiz and lowest test has many opportunities to make up lab
Dr J is by far the best chem teacher I've ever had. He not only knows his stuff, but if you come to class daily/read the book every so often, you should have no prob passing his class/quizzes!
I think these comments are extremely misleading. Yes, he's a very nice, fun guy... Loves blowing stuff up. However, he doesn't really teach. If you ask him a question he will make you feel like a moron. Way too many tests. (1 a week) No study guides.
In this class if you need help you pretty much won't get it so you have to do and learn everything yourself
I passed his class and understood the material but I dont recommend him if you need a prof that is helpful. Hes pretty aloof in terms of teaching and wont help you you ask him a question, even if you did read the book. Hes funny and all but thats not what you need in a professor. I actually liked taking a test once every week.
Lol. 50% retakers? So, he failed a lot of people, but they liked him enough to retake his class? Or, they failed others classes and wanted to take his class. it seems the whiners are not very smart of motivated, except to whine.
I was apart of the 50% statistic. He tries his best and truly does wants his students to succeed and loves the subject. His teaching style does not pertain to everyone but overall he is not that bad. I hated his tests in that there were always repeat the answers. His theory is if you don't know it then you won't understand another question like it.
Jorgenson is an amazing teacher. He offers all means of communication, such as emails, office hours &even his house phone if you have a question on the weekends. To pass weekly chapter test, look over your notes, lab handouts &do the questions at the end of the chapter(the book is key for passing). i suggest getting a FlashCard app too.
good teacher fun to be in class with. overall teaching style is different then all of my other teachers. there are no class notes and he is straight out of the book. 80% of my class where retakes. only good thing I can say is that he gives you all his contact info but his answer is always "read the book". take him if you like a challenge.
Dr. J is a funny and great professor to have for Chem. He tries his best to relate science to real life situations so class isn't always a snooze. Tests are every week along with quizzes the second day of the week. Sounds bad but was actually better than I had expected it to be. Everything he teaches in class is pretty much on the tests. STUDY!!!
Overall chemistry is a challenging course. He is cool and is available. Yet, his teaching isn't really clear. He makes you feel dumb when asking a question and says to refer back to the notes or book. During labs he doesn't help much either. He seems more infatuated with weed than teaching chem. I wouldn't take him, he's not helpful.50%-retakers
Great class, but not easy at all. Professor is hilarious and you will enjoy if you have a sense of humor. Key to the class is to pay attention, read & study. Don't be a prude, do your work & you'll enjoy the class.
He's funny some times and down to earth. He knows which kids are slacking off, so don't ask questions if you're not planning to read the book or take notes in class. Term quiz once a week, chapter test once a week. It sounds like a lot but it actually helps you stay on task. Miss and lab and don't make it up, he drops/fails you.
Dr.J is one of those professors that teaches more than Chemistry in his class. He is setting you up for future college classes/work. If you aren't going to put in the time to study on your own or in a group DO NOT expect to pass his class. That being said DR.J is AWESOME. He will make you laugh and enjoy chemistry. Pay no mind to the haters!!
I really enjoyed his class. He gives a chapter quiz and every week and an in class project. If you aren't there it's okay with him but there are no make ups. He uses real life things to explain the topic.
Let's be honest chem 305 is tough!!!! Dr.J is tough but fair. You're not just going to pass the class and not know what you are doing, getting good grades really means you understand the material. Dr.J will answer questions and will crack some jokes on the way to make the class enjoyable. Tip for this class, don't just read the material, APPLY!
Awesome teacher (:
There is a test every week and you must read the chapter. He does a couple of examples on the board and that is about it. He is a funny guy and is willing to help, but you must know your stuff. He makes you feel dumb if you do not know the material. He is not very approachable. If you are confused he will tell you to go back and read the chapter.
Jorgensen was very helpful although he does like for you to work to find the answers on your own (this is college, after all). His tests are straight forward and fairly simple if you study. The key to this and any science class is study. His labs were fun and he is an incredibly approachable professor. He makes chemistry fun and exciting.
Dr. J is THE MAN!!!!! Really Cool proffessor. Class is very organized and you know what to expect every weeek. I'm going to Chem 400 thanks to him!
Dr. Jorgensen is funny during lectures and keeps you interested in learning chemistry. He gives chapter exams and key term quizzes on a weekly basis. If you want to pass this class, you need to practice all chapter examples in your book. I also found the study guide and solutions manual book very helpful, a few of these q's are in the chapter exams
Dr. J is great! This class is hard, but he explains things really well! Especially when he blows stuff up haha. He is very helpful if confused. But he does answer questions very well. In order to do well in this class, make sure to do the practice problems in each chapter.
Honestly I took it because I thought for a brief moment that I was going into the medical field. I did however really enjoy it and learned a lot. He is very knowledgeable and makes the subject real to the students. Yes he does talk about sex and drugs in class but duh it is a science/chemistry class. Take notes or don't ask questions.
After Dr. Js course I'm more confident about Chem. You have to work for the A. He doesn't assign HW but that doesn't mean you shouldn't look at the book. Get the optional workbook , do practice problems out of that and also do the problems in the back of the text book (highly recommended). Tests are every week and I think its a good system.
Professor Jorgensen is pretty chill. His lectures are hilarious. He gives a quiz and an exam every week, but if you read the book you'll do fine. And if you need help, he will probably just tell you to look back at your notes first and then if you still don't understand he will help.
Dr J's class was really good. He is very clear and explains things really well. He is helpful when you ask for help and always reminds us of that. He always cracks jokes in class and makes lessons life relevant. However he doesn't give extra credit, and his tests are super hard. COME TO CLASS! or u won't pass...
Prof J is super awesome. I recommend anyone who is looking to take chem 305 to take it with him. relates chapter lectures life experiences, very laid back, cracks lots of jokes. Doesn't assign HW but up to you to do the material to do good on test. Vocab quiz & test are every week on 1 chap at a time which is helpful. Wants his students to succeed
Dr Jorgensen is a one of a kind Professor that cares and teaches his students success as well as Chemistry in which he does extremely well! His organization and attention to detail made this the highest quality class I've taken. He has a great sense of Humor and Unique ability to accommodate every students way of learning. I highly recommend him!
I like his teaching style and how he relates chemistry to life. There is a test every week. That is not a bad thing. Those tests will make you study, and the final exam will not be a big deal for you. Also it helps you to predict your grade and if necessary drop the course before too late. There are extra credit questions on tests which also help.
He's an amazing teacher. His teaching style is very good. His tests are fair. If you study, you'll easily pass.
I took him 3-4 years ago, or so. He was unnecessarily rude to me, at times, but he does care in his weird way; and I did take advantage of office hours. I struggled in this class, and had to take it twice. I hated his guts by the end but I still remember a lot about chem! Especially the periodic table because you'll need to memorize that.
This was by far the hardest class I have taken. His tests are very hard. I studied over fifty-hours a week, and barely pulled a C from the class. He is very funny and will always be there for you when in need. He doesn't give any study guides. Half the class had to retake. Be ready to study your butt off and cry yourself to sleep.
Greg is one of my favorite Professors ever! I took him in the spring for Chem 305 and although it may be challenging he more than prepares you for next level Chem. Each week is a test but is very manageable with his easy to follow lectures, practice sheets, humor and willingness to help you succeed! Greg is a one of a kind professor and person
What made this class easy were the weekly tests bcuz u'd only have to focus on 1 Ch. & it had 3 ECred questions on it. We had weekly vocab quizzes. If u study for everything u'll definitely pass with a good grade. The lab part was easy. The prof helped me a lot & though he may seem tough, he's kind, caring and funny. He teaches Chem really well.
He tried to make this class relatable to everyone. I remember his story about the lost ship and lead poisoning, and his own stories of experiences. He showed my class interesting experiments and allowed us to record. He was a lot of fun and one of the best. Ask him for help when you need it, and stay on top of your work and studying from the start
With Chemistry you cannot cram in the night before exam. Must attend class, read/outline chapters, practice problems in textbook, know how to use your scientific calculator. I believe prof. Jorgensen does his best to have all students succeed . Unfortunately some students expect a "millennial participation trophy" (Grade A) just showing up. :(
Look. I've taken this class THREE TIMES, each time with a new professor. My third and final attempt was with Dr. J and I'm SO thankful for that. His class is as hard as you would expect it to be, but the difference is that he WANTS you to understand and gives you every opportunity to do well but you have to want it. Take. This. Class.
Practice the problems over and over again. He offers a few easier problems in lectures but you shouldn't rely on that. He loves to share jokes and stories during lectures.... which is good I suppose if you like comedy clubs. If only I had known.... I would rather sit in a two hour lecture with someone one hundred percent committed to chemistry.
This professor wasnt organized. He does not used canvas.... so he doesnt post your grades anywhere. Who knows if your participation matters. If you dont know something he makes you feel like an idiot. Class moves very fast. Be prepared to eat, drink, and sleep with your chem book because that is the only thing you should rely on.
Chemistry is one of those subjects that you must actually spend time on. Professor Jorgensen is fair and does a good job of outlining the workload for the semester. I had always dreaded chemistry & had a very difficult time w/ chemistry in highschool, but I put in a lot of work and did what prof. Jorgensen recommended during the semester--got an A.
Great Professor. Hilarious guy. Tests every week on every chapter. Read the chapter beforehand and it's really easy to understand lectures.
Best teacher I have ever taken in college. He makes class extremely fun. He is very organized and is a great teacher. People complain that he doesn't post grades or lectures to Canvas. If you cant do simple addition for your grade you arent going to pass this class anyway. Show up, read the book and you will do great. Thanks Professor J!!
Dr. J has been one of my favorite professors. He relates Chem, to real life things. He brings humor to the class, I never felt bored during lectures. There is a test every week, which helps because it keeps you studying. If you need help, READ the book first, THEN ask him. Super cool professor, you just have to put the work in! Hope this helps.
Dr. J is an excellent teacher that genuinely cares for and challenges his students. The class is strategically set up and may seem rigorous at times, but once you get a handle on how to stay on top of things it's manageable. Put in the time and you'll do fine! His funny anecdotes and demos make the class enjoyable and the material relatable.
If you want a Professor who goes off topic in lecture nearly every five minutes, you found the right one. There is a one to two quizzes and a test per week, so be in class! Also, he cracks innapropriate jokes, so if you want a bad comedy show every week.. sign up for his class. Tests are about 80 questions, and theres very little time to take them.
Uncle gregs great (not my uncle) even though I had a tough time in the class while working upwards of 52 hours a week he was able to help me get my grades up and answer any questions I had in class. Jokes are funny, hes a overall genuine guy, that being said he will not give handouts. Your choice to study, if not expect an F, if you need help ask
Professor Jorgensen was knowledgable in his field, but when you ask him a question, he makes you feel small. He offers no beacon tutors, doesn't use Canvas, and doesn't record his lectures. You must keep track of your own grades based upon his grading scheme so keep your syllabus. His jokes were inappropriate and not funny. Look elsewhere.
He knows his chemistry! Does not mean he is good at teaching chemistry! He will act like a friend you go have drinks with, but makes too many awful jokes in class. Not appropriate for a lecture. You will have to keep track of your scores as he does not use canvas. Stuck in the 70's.
Dr. J is the BEST professor Ive ever had. I actually learned chemistry and took that knowledge to help me better understand anatomy, physiology, and micro. Hes hilarious. I worked for my grade and hell help you if youre willing to work. Hes accessible and gives you ALL the tools you need to pass his class. Work for it, you wont be sorry!
Great professor. Very likable and makes his lectures entertaining. There are quizzes and tests every week, so make sure to study using the book and the material he lectures on. Labs are pretty laid back and offer extra credit. No homework but I would recommend practicing problems like the ones he goes over in lecture.
Very unorganized, doesnt have a website or use canvas. There are chapter tests every week, so be prepared to read the book because the lectures arent helpful. It seems like he enjoys making his students feel stupid. Lots of inappropriate jokes in class. I would not recommend this professor.
Great teacher. The tests are straight from the book, more from the book than from the lectures. He is a good person and makes an effort to teach us in a way that is interesting and funny. There are a lot of tests but if you do the practice exercises in the book you will get a good grade. If you're willing to do the work, this class is really fun )
An awesome teacher. Attendance not really mandatory but we have some type of assignment or test during each class. Great teaching skills and always willing to help. Study and you will pass it not a hard class. Test every week but it honestly made the class a lot easier. He has a great personality.
Dr.J was my favorite professor. First of all, he is hilarious and actually made the class fun. I never thought id like Chem but his class changed that! He gives a test every week BUT it keeps you studying. You will pass if you listen to the lectures and actually read the chapters. Practice the questions he gives instead of the ones in the book!
Worst class I have taken. Prof. Jorgensen's lectures are vague, or to be honest he doesn't lecture AT ALL. He would much rather show irrelevant pictures and share inappropriate stories with the class. Class meets twice a week and there are chapter tests, terms and elements quizes every week. Also Prof. Jorgensen is extremely rude. Wasted my time.
The worst class I have taken. He is out of topic. He doesn't teach very well. Don't west your time.
Greg is one of the funniest teachers I've ever had. As long as you do your work and read the text book he makes it easy to pass, especially with the extra credit provided in the tests and labs. Take advantage of the points he gives you and study, and there should be no doubt you will pass this class.
I want say some thing to my friend I dont know why he chosen to be teacher he is good for comedy film he doesnt know how to teach to student to learn I think some one force him to be teacher hard to get A for this class whit this professor J Surprising exam no paper to study before test no extra credit
Professor Jorgenson was a good teacher. He has a chapter exam, key terms quiz, and group activity every week. But they are ALL multiple choice (except a few). He offers a LOT of extra credit! You WILL have to read the book and study on your own. He will help you if you have questions, try to take as many notes you can in class.
Hes the worst professor, ever. He truly doesnt care about you succeeding in his class and he openly talks about it in class. He loves putting students down and loves to make students feel stupid and the reason behind it he calls learning opportunity. I wouldnt recommend him even to my worst enemy.
One positive thing I can say about Professor Jorgensen is that he has a great sense of humor. Sadly, his humor is used in snide remarks towards students. He wastes no opportunity to remind nursing/med students that they most likely will not succeed in their fields. Often times, students left class feeling put down. Nice guy, shouldn't be a prof.
I understand we all went online and I understand it is hard. But maybe make a canvas and stop telling the entire class they will fail, accuse them of cheating, and complaining. He needs to make a canvas and this course is defiantly heavy in. Read the book and love by it
Worst class I have ever taken! He is very inappropriate and demeaning. He never fails to remind students who are in the medical field that they will not be successful. One of the worst professors I have come across.
Listen if you want a teacher who is going to baby you and stay on top of every little assignment for you, you should probably go back to high school. Like any class if you read the book, show up, and do the assignments youll pass. If you take everything sensitively or personally then yeah maybe his jokes arent for you. Great professor!
I am no chemist; I was forced to teach myself. Luckily I formed a study group. This was initially a course in person but due to the pandemic was forced to be completed online. In-person & online he wasn't an ideal professor. Get on his good side and you'll learn a lot about hunting. Prof isn't the best at answering ?'s or relaying information.
I was terrified of taking chemistry, but I'm glad I took Mr.J's class. He provides books for rental so get that opt. There are chapter tests and quizzes every week. At first this might seem a lot of work, but if you read your chapters from the book, do the practice tests on every chapter, you will do good. He is pretty straight forward, and funny
