BEST TEACHER EVER!! Soo nice, easy, & really cares that his students understand and do well. Gives you formulas on tests so nothing to memorize and there is not much work - only optional hw problems. I am not a great math student but I got an A easily. He is a great guy & awesome teacher.
Manco is Awesome! You never have to go to class if you don't want but it will only affect your gradE.you never have to take notes he gives you packets of notes he made up himself. He gives pop quizes which are not hard and they count as extra creditpoints. If you can take him! Our Class Loved Him !
i love him. Best math teacher i have ever had. I would take a higher stat course as an elective if he was teaching it. If you can get him do it best teacher ask to be signed into his class. He cares about his students. he does not have an attendence policy but go to class if you dont you will fail. I missed a few classes and ended up with an A. I a
he's not that easy but he does really care about his students and he is a very nice person. he left a baseball game early (he's a baseball coach here) to hold a study session for the final even though he didn't have to. that says it all. highly recommend.
Class is too easy, but I'm learning a lot. I wish he would go faster so we could cover more of the cool things he mentions. Really nice guy, loves statistics and can teach it with genuine excitement.
He is an awesome teacher!! Helps anyone and everyone! He coaches baseball so he understands athletes especially. His tests are easy and gives you a lot of help! Class is not bad and I hate math!!
Take him if you can! He is such a cool teacher and really cares about his students! Very understanding!
Great teacher. Very helpful, nice and funny!!!
2 tests+final. dont buy book, uses his great handouts/hw probs.class is for bio majors,he understands our workload and isn't very hard, just show up to do well and learn a ton. associates real life examples from medicine to deal or no deal.will go extra mile to help you.awesome guy. genuinely excited about stats and makes you excited to learn it.A+
Class was soooo easy! I was really scared going in, I HATE math... but he is so helpful. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!
I've taken stat before, but this is the first time I really understood it. Manco is a great teacher, if you show up, pay attention, and do the hw, you'll do fine.
Mr. Manco is so sweet. He is always willing to help you out. my suggestion before the final, take your old exams and ask him questions about the things you got wrong. He explains things very clearly. All the quizzes are extra credit towards your tests. So there really is no reason to get a bad grade. As long you try and ask 4 help you will get an A
he was a great stat teacher. he made stat so easy to understand. he goes over everything multiple times so it gets drilled in your head and easy to remember DONT BUT THE BOOK! a total waste of money. just do homework and may attention and class and its a easy A.
GManco is amazing.. I hate math and he is making it bearable. His notes are flawless, every concept is covered extremely well, you're never left questioning what's going on. Lots of emphasis on attendance, but why would you want to skip? He's a sweetheart, very nice man. You can tell he cares.
Dr. Manco is the best math teacher I have ever had. You can tell he is so passionate about what he is teaching and is so willing to help any student at any time. Take his class, it forces you to think but you won't regret it in the end. If I can enjoy it three days a week at 8am, anyone can :)
he is a great guy and a great teacher. he does not take attendance, however, for any math class you wont do well if you dont go. he gives quizzes for extra credit, he just wants everyone to do well. always available for help
this man truley loves what he is doing. it is very hard not to get an A in this class. In the beginning I didnt start with such hot grade but then with his help and all the extra credit i ended up with an A+. just make sure you go over the old tests with him for the final and you should be able get over 100 percent. DONT BUY THE BOOK
Great teacher, the material is extremely simple if you go to class, pay attention and put half an effort into your homework. He's also really accessible outside of class as well.
Mnaco, is a great teacher and his tests are like 5 to 10 question and you can ALWAYUS get like 5 to 10 points extra credit! he's sooo cool and really nice, this class is a breeze
BEST MATH TEACHER IVE EVER HAD!
Great professor, Im not great at math but somehow managed to get an A..only problem is he cares more than the students. Take him, highly recommended.
AWESOME teacher-goes above & beyond to ensure youre comfortable w/ material. do hw because it helps to understand material for tests (test probs follow a similar format to hw probs). very energetic & explains topics so theyre relevant to everyday life. not mandatory to go but recommend ALWAYS going so nothing is missed, show effort.
The way he grades test are not fair, if you missed class then he will give you no partial credit on the test. Even just for silly mistakes. He is not understanding at all. So when he doesn't like someone he will do his best to not help them at all. He teaches way too fast and answers questions in a hurry.
Crazy easy as long as you go to class, do homework, participate. Unannounced quizzes are for extra credit on the next test. Helps you out as long as you try. Approachable. Short tests with basic problems, gives you a formula sheet on every test. Doesn't require a text book but have to spend $70 on an online hw thing thats rarely used.
As long as you attend class and do the homework you will do fine. He usually curves if everyone did horrible. The online quizzes are boring but easy. I recommend this teacher if you want to actually learn and have a chance at doing well.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM! he will do anything and everything to help you, all you have to do is ask! he is the sweetest professor i have ever had. really enthusiastic in his teachings, you will not fall asleep. and he does not use a textbook, teaches from his powerpoints.
Just go to class, pay attention and DO THE HW and you'll do just fine. He explains everything so well its almost patronizing. He's easy to talk to if you need help, but if you never go to class and then ask for help he'll basically tell you you're going to fail, which is probably true. Its not a class I could teach myself. Really great professor
Great professor, great guy. Makes math easy, very helpful. Take him.
Great professor, take him.
Very helpful, theres a few online quizzes so you can use your book and notes and they are easy. Can always talk to him for help and he is more than willing to help you. take him!
His class is hard but he is very helpfull and wants all his students to do well. He never tries to trick his students. Very straight foward and has many opportunities for extra credit. Great guy!
he really is a great professor. i have no one to blame but myself for my C+ grade in his class. he explains things very clearly. i understood all the material as he was going over it because it seemed to make more sense. he is always willing to help no matter what. he loves when people visit in his office as well. go to class and do the HW!!!
How can a man with such high ratings be this bad of a teacher for this class? Attendance is not mandatory and I learn more by teaching myself than being taught by him. He may love math, but what he expects from us on tests is way too out of the box for us. "Your grade is reflective of attendance" false, I have a higher grade than ppl who do attend.
Didn't like his probability class and didn't really like him in general. Teaches like he wrote the book of probability (oh wait he did write our textbook). Cheat sheet allowed for all tests... just write down problems and hope the test isn't completely different. Had an A by the end of the semester and had a B after the final. Woohoo.
Manco is awesome! He explains everything and goes over every problem. Full cheat sheet for every exam. if you put theorems and problems from class you will do good. open book and note final. if you get an A on every exam you exempt final and there is always extra credit quizzes for every test
Manco is the best math teacher i've ever had. He will make you work but he cares about the students. Cheat sheet is allowed for exams which really helps, also he is always available for extra help.
Alright, for my Stats, class Dr. Manco explains everything very well. However, the tests are nothing like the homework problems we did in class. When he grades tests, he likes to not give partial credit. That being said, his class can be pretty hard
homework &tests were nothing alike. he doesnt give partial credit on tests which really sucks. allows for cheat sheets, but arent always helpful. When you go to him for help, he doesnt do that great of a job with that. he isnt really clear when explaining a math problem. if you have a question, he kinda answers it & then moves along w/ other things
By far the most helpful professor I've had at SJU thus far. This course is difficult but if you go to his office hours he's more than willing to help you. You can tell he cares about his students and wants them to do well, go to class and show interest by going to his office hours. I never did well in math and I ended up with a A in the course.
This was the most boring class I've ever encountered. He gives NO partial credit on tests and tests were very different from hw problems. Going to his office was useless. He doesn't explain things well at all. Do not take.
Pros: 8.5x11 cheat sheet per test, Exemption from final if you get As on all tests, attendance optional, gives 20-50 points of EC (EC quiz, bonus test problem, curve, pts for writing name) Cons: uses book a lot, boring class material (not his fault), impossible to do well without attendance, due to large bonus pts no partial credit. Overall - TAKE
Very nice guy. He cares a lot about the students as long as you show up to class and look like you are paying attention. The biggest downside are that the classes are first thing in the morning, and the only thing you get graded on is the tests.
He is an excellent professor. He really cares about his students and takes time to go over anything that is confusing. He goes over every single homework problem every class. There are four exams and before each exam, there is a pop quiz. The quizzes are extra credit on the next exam. DEFINITELY TAKE
Seriously the best professor I've ever had. Quizzes counted as extra credit for the tests. Super helpful and nice!
You can tell he really cares about his students. He is so willing to work with you and help you succeed. Gives extra credit quizzes and cheat sheets on the exams. Definitely take his class!
Great professor really passionate.Really cares about how well you're learning. If you don't understand he is constantly trying to help. Office hours are a big help as well, if you visit him in his office for extra help he tries his best to make you understand. Gives extra credit quizzes for more points on a test. Tests similar to homework problems.
Manco is honestly an amazing teacher. He gives you notes that cover everything you need to know. The exams are basically homework problems. He gives extra credit quizzes that get added onto your exam grade. If you get higher than a 98 on every exam, you get exempt from the final which was not hard to do (:
It is clear that Manco wants his students to succeed. He has office hours every day and is very helpful. For every test, he lets you bring in a 8.5 x 11 "cheat sheet." Tests are not too difficult, but does not give any partial credit. He does give a pop quiz before every exam for extra credit that can only help you.
Manco is the man. Attendance is not mandatory but it will be tough to do well without learning the material. He gives a few pop quizzes but they only count as extra credit points on the exams. Exams are tough but you can use a one page cheat sheet and he usually curves them. Get a 93 or better on every exam and you are exempt from the final.
Dont do it brah.
One of the best professors I've had at SJU. He's a no-BS type of guy, explains what you need to know in a way that's easy to understand, and wants you to do well.
Unbelievable teacher and even a better guy. I blame myself for my grade. he really does do a lot for his students. I went to all of his office hours, and although he was still unclear in them, he was great to talk to. Go to class and don't take him @ 8am. Dr. Manco is an awesome dude and is so passionate about his teachings.
Dr. Manco seems like a decent guy however he teaches the class at such a fast pace that if you don't understand a concept you could be screwed. His tests are on a wide span of chapters and really doesn't prepare you for what the test questions will be like. Would not recommend if math is not your strongest subject
Dr. Manco is a great guy, but HIs class was the worst experience of my college career. Don't take his math beauty with probability. Expect pop quizzes and tests that involve nothing like the homeworks. He thought I barely showed up to class, but I only missed one class. Totally ignorant in the class room. Cool guy outside the class room.
Manco will make you work and this class was challenging but he wants you to do well, he curves exams and gives extra credit quizzes. You have to go to class to do well. He wrote the text but the lectures are important. I am not particularly good at math but I ended up doing okay.
He was so condescending and rude if you went to him for extra help, to the point where he would make me feel flat out stupid for not being able to do all this math in my head. The tests are absolutely nothing at all (and i mean nothing)like we do in class or on the homework. Its the same kind of idea except 10x more complicated than he ever taught
Didn't like him much at first but by the end of the semester I liked him a lot. One of the best teachers I had at SJU. Lectures are very clear, also his notes are clear, and he is very helpful outside of class.
Dr. Manco is a great instructor and really cares for his students. Attendance is not necessary and he is always available to meet outside of class.
I really enjoyed Dr. Manco's lecture, when I studied for his tests they were straight forward. I think he liked me bc I was always punctual,he even once let me know ahead of time of a pop quiz. That said, DO NOT SHOW UP LATE or he will kill you with his death stare, if you don't show up to class he will not help you and you'll get a 35 on the tests
This class really didn't work out for me. Unless math is your thing, I wouldn't take Manco. If you're not good in math, there's not enough stuff to help your grade if you do bad on an exam or two. That's what happened to me and I ended up withdrawing.
Did not like the guy. He's a coach and he brings that gruff blunt attitude into the classroom, which doesn't work. I frequently had to skip class because I live farther and was maybe a minute or two late, and he would call me out for it. Besides the test, there's no way to sustain your grade, so if you don't do well on tests you won't do well.
He takes attendance, but does that to make sure we aren't wasting his time in office hours. Gives pop quizzes that go toward extra credit on the tests. Curve on every test. You get to create a cheat sheet for every exam. Exempt from the final if you get a 93 or higher on each test.
Manco is the ideal teacher. He tells you from the beginning what he wants from you to get a good grade. Do the homework and come to class and you'll be fine. He is good and judging class preparedness and will move tests and quizzes around if needed. You get what you put in.
Dr. Manco was incredible to have: very straightforward, writes his own textbook and prints it out for you so you don't have to buy it, and tests are exactly like the homework problems. If you get a 98 or above on every exam including the bonus points from the quizzes, you get exempt which was not hard to accomplish at all.
Dr. Manco MAT 134 should be an easy A. You are allowed a cheat sheet for every test and usually get 8-10 bonus points per test if you do well on the extra credit quizzes. 3 tests and a final exam.
Professor Manco is by far the worst teacher I have taken. This class is seriously the definition of pass fail. He is super fast and it is hard to catch up. I had a difficult time in this class and would not recommend this to anyone who is not a math person. oh and he gives homework every night and does not grade it so it is for your own benefit.
Manco is by far the worst professor I have had the displeasure of dealing with at Saint Joes. He does not teach or help students in class, but instead gives them paper handouts and is not understanding of illnesses. 5 other students also dropped from this class, and I felt like I did not learn a single thing. The guy is aggressive. AVOID!!
I found this class to be extremely hard. Manco went through things so fast and it was extremely hard to keep up. If you're not naturally good at math you will most likely struggle in this class. Manco is a super nice person and is always willing to meet up but has a hard time explaining things simply.
Dr. Manco understands that students have more intense classes to take than statistics. Therefore, if you pay attention in class, you'll be aware of everything that could be on the tests. I do wish hw was graded, but it is useful to do the problems as that's his main source for test questions. Try to do well on the 4 bonus quizzes too.
Dr. Manco is by far the best professor I've ever had. If you pay attention and apply the concepts to the exams, this class is very simple. Many students believed his exams were difficult, however, if you do the practice problems he assigns then you are more then well prepared. This class offered me so much more to take away then just math problems.
Super great professor! Explains everything really well and if you're doing bad in the class you can just go talk to him and he'll explain everything to you. Statistics is tricky sometimes so you have to be aware of what you're being asked. Absolutely enjoy taking his class. Hw isn't graded but I wish it was. don't buy book he provides pages!
Dr. Manco is an awful teacher. He teaches way to fast, and does not even give partial credit on test even if you were off by just a little. Horrible teacher, usually has an attitude in the morning, and is so unhelpful when it comes to helping students better understand concepts. His teaching methods are absolute despicable!
I went into this class thinking it would be an easy A; however, I soon realized that doing well was close to impossible. No matter how much work I put in, I consistently got low grades. I went to him for help, but he comes off as being impatient. Some of the students totally understand everything, but for others, it's a constant struggle.
Dr. Manco is literally the most easy-going, fair professor I've ever had. There are 4 tests, and a quiz before each one, but they only count for bonus points. Plus, he usually curves the tests too. Also, if you get above a 93 on every test, you don't have to take the final. If you go to class and do the homework, you will get an A.
I would not recommend taking him if you are only trying to get your math credit out of the way. This is a test heavy class basically your whole grade for the class and they are difficult. Material is hard to understand and he is not very helpful/friendly.
This has been my favorite class & professor at SJU. Just pay attention, participate & you will get an A. He is a great professor & wants you to understand. He even exempts you from taking the final if you get an A on all of the exams.
BEST TEACHER AT SJU! The class is difficult but Dr. Manco really makes sure that you understand what is going on. He does study sessions the night before test and is ALWAYS available by phone number/ email. Gives extra credit quizzes a week before the exam to earn points and test are exactly what you do in class, nothing new. TAKE HIM!
Dr. Manco is a great choice for MAT 134 because he is always available for help and he really cares for his students. Also, he gives extra credit quizzes before the tests and does study sessions before the tests that are really helpful. I would take him again if I had the opportunity.
He makes it pretty easy to do well if you do the homework and attend study sessions. He's very approachable and gives extra credit quizzes that are added on to your exams.
Dr. Manco was just an all-around amazing person. He's so thoughtful and excited about what he teaches and makes sure every student feels respected. I took this class solely online, and even then, he made it enjoyable to be in. He was always accessible for help outside of class. I took advantage of that, and in the end, my grade rose because of it!
Manco is an amazing teacher, I took his course during dual enrollment and it was for sure the right choice. His lectures are easy to follow along and he will take questions anytime. All you need to succeed is to put in effort and do the homework. He is always available to provide help. Would definitely take another course with him. Extra Credit too
Dr. Manco was by far my favorite professor. The class was well structured he really gives you all the opportunities to succeed, willing to help anytime. A lot of students struggled and it was probably just because it was a morning class. You can earn exemption from the final and quizzes are used as extra credit on the exams. Take him if you can.
Taking him at Rutgers for Intro Stat for Business. Best professor ever. Cares a lot about what he's teaching and teaches it well. Go to class, he tells you what's on exams. Never understood stat before but now I do. The exams are exactly like homework problems. HW is optional but do it.
Had him for Intro to Stat for business and even though I tend to be good at math, stat always confused me. This class made me understand it, he is a very clear teacher. Definitely come to class because he walks you through how to do everything! The exams are pretty straightforward forward, but there's no other grades. Homework is great practice.
