He also post you tube vidoes for lab that you can watch as many times as you need until you know the material. Without those I probable wouldn't have gotten a good grade. Regardless this is a tough course and take studying!

I absolutely loved having Mendel for lab! I think he does a great job at teaching and uses a lot of visuals to help you learn unlike most lab teachers that just throw you into the work on your own and expect you to teach yourself. He makes great videos going over all the lab material you need to know for each practical and they help A LOT!

He records all the lectures and puts them on Blackboard for you which is very helpful. He isn't that great at emailing back so if you have a question, you're bettering off staying after class. His tests aren't impossible but you have to study and put the time into it to make a good grade.

Taking Dr. Mendel plus studying a moderate amount is your recipe for passing A&P! If you go to class every day, he gives little hints about what is going to be on each upcoming test and when potential pop quizzes will be. Be observant, he follows a specific pattern in how he runs this course and he truly wants his students to pass.

He never seemed to hesitate at taking the extra steps to guarantee that the effort we put into the class meant the ultimate outcome of our grade. He does keep you for the full 2 hours and 50 minutes, but he only does that for your benefit. It's not easy, but he makes it fun.

This was my first time taking BIO 122 lecture and lab, while also having Dr. Mendel. After having different professors for BIO 121, Dr. Mendle is by far the best professor Ive had for this course. He explains everything out to where we actually understand it and his lecture videos and snapy sayings are extremely helpful.

Anatomy is a hard and sometimes boring class. Mendel tries to make it enjoyable and comes up with ways to help students remember the content. He makes videos for most of the material needed in lab, and in lecture he records everyday so students can go back at any time and listen/watch what was taught that day.

Anatomy is really hard at USI and that's pretty well known but Dr. Mendel knows this as well and is actually willing to put in the work for you. He won't boost your grade very much at the end so your grade in blackboard is pretty much the grade you get. As long as you put in the work you'll pass.

Dr. Mendel is an amazing teacher, as an incoming freshman I was very nervous for this class but Dr. Mendel is one of the most caring professors and wants you to do well. He incorporates stories that are relevant to his lecture which really helps you to understand and remember concepts for tests and keeps the class entertained.

Dr.Mendel truly cares about each of his students. If you use the abundance of resources he gives you then you will be well off. He is very engaging and is always willing to work one on one during lab times! Would highly recommend!

Although AP1 was a difficult class, Dr. Mendel made it fun by using real examples in both lecture and lab. Mendel really cares about each person's grade in the class, all 100+ students. He is straightforward about the course's difficulty and genuinely believes that everyone can succeed.

Dr. Mendel is a very great professor for Anatomy and Physiology I. He offers many resources to help guide you through the class and get a good grade because he genuinely cares about your success.If you take advantage of all of his study opportunities you will do great in his class.

I had Dr. Mendel for lecture and lab, and he is by far the best professor I have had. He is very engaging and makes all of his course content digestible through stories that tie the information together. He is very clear about what he expects from his students, lays out exactly what you need to do to be successful, and is fair and understanding.

Dr. Mendel was a wonderful professor. He cared very much about each of his students and genuinely wants you to succeed. There are SI's for lecture and open labs. He posts the slides we go over in class and lectures so that you can rewatch them. He makes sure that you are prepared for the exams. I would definitely take his class again.

My favorite professor! He made learning the material easier and was always available when I had questions. He wants you to pass his class and learn the material in a functional way. I looked forward to class and wasn't scared for exams or lab.

Dr. Mendel is one of the smartest people I know and is a phenomenal teacher. He keeps you awake during lectures with interesting true stories, relevant to anatomy, and is hilarious as well. He truly cares about his students and gives everyone his best effort to improve their knowledge and for them to succeed in their future programs. He's the best.

Dr. Mendel is a professor who cares about his job but truly cares and respects his students. He wants to help in whatever ways he can and volunteers to be his students' advocate. While the material he teaches can be difficult, he does his best to present it and explain it in a way for all his students to understand. I would 100% retake him.

His passion for anatomy and physiology is infectious, he has an incredible ability to break down concepts into something simple. What makes him stand out is his dedication. Dr. Mendel makes a difficult class much more bearable. He uses humor to help you remember the huge quantity of information learned in anatomy. He cares for his students more than any other teacher and does everything in his power to help you pass. He has YouTube videos for all of the models for easy studying. Makes a 3 hour lab feel like 30 minutes

Dr. Mendel provides his students with everything they need to know in order to prepare for the exams. He posts all his lectures online and has many videos on YouTube going over lab models to help study for practicals. He uses funny stories and phrases to help you remember key terms you'll need to know during the semester. Take AP with Dr. Mendel.

Dr. Mendel is the most awesome professor you can have. Very laid back, chill, and understanding. His life stories are very memorable and relevant to his lecture topics and he will do whatever it takes to “drag you to the finish line” and help you pass. Very caring but make sure you study that textbook to prepare for exams and pop quizzes!

I have taken AnP twice and never passed. Until I have taken his class Dr. Mendel is an incredible professor, he understands and supports his students. He explains concepts clearly, he's approachable, and always willing to help. His exams are exactly like the learning objectives. If you're looking for a professor to take for AnP I would take him.

NOTE: Before reading this review, I am an adult, nontraditional student who failed this same class in the Spring semester of 2025 (that's right, a big fat F). This guy went out of his way to make the class not only interesting, but enjoyable. Looked forward to every single lecture, even though I started it one week after Spring finals were done.

He cares about his students a lot and will do everything he can to help you pass. He is very reasonable with grading exams and homework. He has lots of personal stories that relate to whats covered in class to help students understand. He puts in the extra effort to make TONS of youtube videos covering everything to help you study! 100% recommend!!

I had to come back here to rate Dr. Mendels SI. If you have Lainey as your SI thank God bc you are the chosen one. I am taking a ton of difficult classes and none of these SIs care as much as Lainey did. She taught me everything I know about anatomy and she is the sweetest person on earth. HIGHLY recommend mendel if it means you get Lainey too.

Dr. Mendel is an amazing professor and person! Lectures are recorded to allow you to go back and watch material you may not have understood the first time. I recently was sick and not only did Dr. Mendel do everything to make sure I was okay but also helped me get back on track. He is very accessible and deeply cares for everyone!

Where do I even start, He's a really great professor and very smart. He cares so much about his students and never fails to make sure that all of them will pass the class whether it's meeting with them one on one or emailing to help out. I most definitely recommend anyone to take his class as he will help you incredibly!
