A nice & funny guy.
calc. is hard, but mr. mucha is soooo helpful
Mucha is cool. He genuinely cares about his students and he wants them to learn. My favorite teacher at COC
The best math teacher you could possibly have. Makes the material very comprehensive through effective analogies and clearly outligning key steps to reach the answer. Hard tests, but if you watch and listen, you will be more than prepared for them.
Actually makes Statistics fun and interesting! Great teacher, very nice man
great teacher, one of the best math teachers you can have. very good lectures. makes material very understandable. tests are challenging but very straight forward, if you take good notes and pay attention in class you should have no problems.
Great teacher. His lectures are interesting, he uses great analogies to make math fun. His tests are straighforward and his lectures explain everything clearly. Highly recommended.
Best stats teacher...Very clear and breaks down info so it's easy to digest...Tests are simple w/no tricks...Homework is much more complicated than the tests. Very helpful guy, he has lots of office hours, although if you go to class you won't need it.
Excellent teacher, he really loves math and is enthusiastic about it. Makes class fun when the teacher knows what they are talking about. His tests are fairly easy. If you can do the homework, you will ace the tests. Minitab is a pain in the butt tho.
very good teacher but does not curve so what you get is it. very enthusiastic about teaching which will keep you awake.
I really enjoyed his class.
He is very helful and a great teacher. I Got 100 in his Calc II tests, WOWwwwwwwwwww
Good easy teacher, explained everthing perfectly!I had 2 perfect test in his math class and i've never gotten a perfect math test.I would have gotten an 'A' but didn't study for final and got 'B'.Only thing he was always 10 or more minutes late, and always tried to convince people to vote for Bush.
He is a very hard and rude teacher. Degrades his students and never gives reviews for tests!he has his favorites in the class and he doesn't give an interest in the students that need help in math. don't take him!
his a horrible teacher if you need to take the class and theres no other teacher avaliable wait till the next semester you will fail the class anyway and retake it anyways unless your one of his favorite students if you do want to become one of his favorites sit in the front and good luck!!!!!
WOW he is the one of the worst teachers I have ever taken at COC, and this is my fourth semester at this school. He is extremely rude and just not helpful at all. Dont count on passing if you take him, unless your his favorites. He sounds and acts gay.
Please do yourself a favor, and do not take his class unless your up for the biggest challenge of your life. He never gives notes, its all by what he says. He sucks as a teacher, he schould be a fricken house cleaner.
very bad teacher doesnt help at all doesnt give notes extremly boring lectures and if you have to take this class do it by another teacher if you dont want to fail this is the worst teacher i have had ever i cant believe he is the head of the math department however if you do have to take this class take mrs.nisa the best teacher ever.
He is a very hard and rude teacher. Degrades his students and never gives reviews for tests!he has his favorites in the class and he doesn't give an interest in the students that need help in math. don't take him!
Used good real life examples & made an effort to explain material clearly & left time to clarify. very accomedating with help. Very good teacher.
Very rude and arrogant person. Talks to you in a condescending way and not very helpful. I suggest avoiding his class at all costs.
The worst teacher ive ever had in my life. rude, inconsiderate..thinks he's funny but he's not. went over way too many hw ?'s should have given the lecture first before he put the class to sleep. overall...JUST DONT TAKE HIM..UR WASTING TIME, AND MONEY!!!
i dont know about all these other ratings but the guy is cool. really teaches you whats important about the subject, will help you out, you just have to raise your hand or go to his office hours. best math class i've had at coc.
HE TIRED TO HELP BUT REALLY DIDNT DO A GREAT JOB. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS TRUST ME
he sucks do yourself a favor and dont take him, he is the biggest looser ever. Thinks he is funny but I laugh at how supid he sounds rather than his jokes. Looser big time i hated his class
he sucks, probably the worst teacher that teaches at the school if you realllllly want to work hard then take the class but he is an ****
worst teacher for math ever if you really want to take math and pass and learn something take it with someone else he had terrible jokes that he only understood and the class laughed on how stupid he sound rather than his jokes i passed the class thanks to the book not to him going to his class was a waste of time
I actually found a math teacher who made math interesting and very tollerable. And trust me, I am not a math major. I have had many math teachers over the years, and Professor Mucha is by far the best. If all you do is the homework for practice, you will ace his classes. Thanks Professor Mucha for being there for the class. Great Job!
Mr. Mucha is a wonderful teacher. I had him for math 060 and now I have him for statistics. He cares about his students and wants them to pass. He is always willing to help. He goes over homework and does reviews before exams. I'm terrible at math and Mr. Mucha helped me every step of the way. He also has a great sense of humor. Thanks Mr. Mucha.
professor always late to class doesn't care about attendance and he teaches really fast. he is not considerate of those like that need a little explaining in the subject. I had a hard time because the class went too fast.
Seems like he actually wants to be there. His grading is hard, but really wants you to do good. But to tell you the truth... it's one of the hard math teachers i've had at C.O.C.
Class was ridiculously difficult. By the end of the semester, there were 7 students in the class that waned from 40. I hope you don't have any homework questions or need help because you won't get it. Avoid at all costs!
I took his Math 070 class and honestly, I cannot stay awake and I have not learned anything. In the beginning of the semester he was into teaching, but now he speaks in a monotone voice and all he does is go over homework that he never teaches. Instead you have to learn from the book. When it comes test time, he doesnt like to give out study guides
he is very hard, and math just sucks in general, but he was very passionate about math and fun and goofy. i would recommend him, just do good on the tests and you will do fine
The rest of these ratings dont know what theyre talking about! AWESOME teacher. really nice guy, makes math EASY! super cool, funny guy. gives half credit on tests. always willing to help. hes theguy to take if you have to take math140. best math teacher ive ever had! hw not mandatory but good practice for tests. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Great guy.
Mucha is an AWESOME AWESOME teacher! He is very funny, and extremely helpful. He makes class interesting by relating the problems to real life. Grade is mostly based on tests, hw not mandatory, but if you don't do it, you will not do good on the tests. There is an easy group project as well. He is by far the best math teacher. TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM!
Best teacher I have ever had BY FAR. I hate math, but he made it fun. Homewors is easy because he goes over all the problems, so don't even bother doing them because you can just write them down when he goes over them and he gives you full credit. He gives partial credit on tests which is why I got a B= in his class. AWESOMW teacher! :)
Easy. New concepts. This teacher lets you use the calculator for everything, which is nice, and this makes it an easy class because you dont have to remember formulas, like in algebra, just the calculator functions. Scientific calculator required
Very good professor. Homework is not mandatory but do it if you want to pass your test. He will answer any questions and calculator is used for almost everything so just a couple of formulas to remember. Class project is very easy. You will get the grade of the effort you put in. Take him!
I basically HATE math but Professor Mucha is GREAT! Take him take him!!!! He is willing to meet with you and help you in whatever you are struggling with
He is very CLEAR when he is traching. Probability and Statistics was never my forte, but with Mucha he made it fun, and interesting. He always had great real life examples when trying to explain probability problems. Take his class!:)
this class is pretty difficult but mucha tries to keep you interested. you are going to be using the calculator alot and youre textbook is going to be youre best friend. overall the class was fun and you only have 4 tests throughout the semester. homework not mandatory but will help alot. study groups are the best for this class
Professor talks way to much, tries to explain the concepts and doesn't explain the work making it hard to take tests.
He starts off the class with problems and doesnt even tell us what we are learning. Very confusing, he spends way too much time trying to make us understand the concept of it.. just teach us how to do it! And he spends like half the class on a problem.. I'd recommend not to take him if you are new to calculus
I wouldn't take him if you're new to Calculus, but he gives out VERY easy tests. His class is very dull though and he gets off-topic way too easily. He spends half the class on one problem and makes the easiest of problems seem hard. But I can't complain, it was an easy A.
He talks too much, goes around the circle and gets you lost. no extra credit, no study quide, and too little time on the test. he does not drop the low exam out of 6 or 7 exams. only he substitude it with the final exam. but who can do better in the final exam. Do not take him unless you want to rouin your GPA.
Great teacher! Loved coming to this class and I am not a huge fan of math. I am normally pretty slow at understanding the concepts but he explains it so well that I was able to understand it and not fall behind. He is more than willing to help you with any questions you may have and has a good sense of humor. I am going to take his stats class.
Great teacher, made Statistics interesting and easy to comprehend. He replaces your lowest test score with your final score, if it's better, and this really saved my grade. His study guides tell you exactly what to expect and his tests are always true to them. He made me enjoy Math and I would take him again if I ever needed another Math class.
If you are learning statistic for the first time DO NOT take Mucha. He doesn't explain the material clearly at all! Everyday after class I would go to the TLC lab and have the math tutors explain it to me. It was pointless going to his class. He rambles and is so boring to listen too. And his tests are hard if you dont study.
Hard teacher! Does not teach but rather makes us watch videos and spends all class doing homework problems! I go to the tlc for at least five hours a week and I'm still failing! Do not take him if your not great at math!!
Great teacher! Works really hard to make sure you understand, is willing to help during office hours or by appt. Tries to make class fun. Go to class, pay attention, do homework, you'll be fine. Don't wait to the last minute if you need help.
Do NOT take this professor. He was constantly putting students (including me) down and making rude comments. He makes us watch videos instead of actually teaching the material. I learned way more in the TLC lab than in his class. Tests are way too hard. I'm a straight A student normally, but barely passed his class.
I enjoyed his class very much. I was a student who struggled on every test only passed one test but because i was asking questions all the time he was willing to help me. As long as you show up everyday and pay attention he is willing to help you. Friendly guy and loves what he teaches. I reccomend him. Material is tough but he explains it in depth
He is such a rude teacher!!! When you ask questions he clearly gets frustrated. Doesn't explain things at all and expects people to know what he is talking about. When he explains things he also goes off on a long random rant about nothing involved. His tests are hard and does not teach to prepare his students to learn the material. STAY AWAY.
Nice guy but a terrible teacher. He spends a lot of his time in class ranting and doesn't doesn't clearly explain exactly what to do or how to use the programs. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.
The class was not too difficult. He gives you classwork to work on and he will help you if you ask. Only had 4 tests and an easy group project. The tests were not too difficult, except for one of them. Only thing I did not like was that he did not really explain how to do the classwork, and instead told you how to do it the next class.
Friendly and obviously loves mathematics but he taught as if the students should know exactly what is going on. He didn't explain the material very well, giving long examples that often went off topic. If we asked for help he would give it, but other than that there was not much guidance or encouragement. Not even the TLC knew how to help.
Great guy but doesn't lecture at all. I struggle really badly with algebra and would have benefited from more instruction. He is very approachable and gives great effort in helping a student understand one on one but, he can't give the entire class time to one student. If you struggle, he is not the instructor to take.
I'm still not sure how I passed. I learned absolutely nothing I didn't all ready know from Math 075. He is a friendly and nice professor, but he doesn't seem to actually teach much.
Took him in the fall and he honestly just rambles on for hours and goes off topic. I really don't know why he is still teaching at COC, nice guy but horrible professor. He didn't even go over a couple chapters that we were tested on!! Unless you're good at math you may pass but if you're horrible at it I say avoid this class.
If you are interested in a class where you can clear out your email, and plan your wedding on Pinterest, then I would really suggest this class. He doesn't lecture, makes you teach yourself the material, and takes forever to post the grades.
Professor Mucha is a nice guy but rarely lectured. His teaching style is an "inverted class period," in which you're supposed to read at home and work on problems in class- it's not a great system. 1 group project and 4 tests (he drops your lowest grade) plus a cumulative final. If you don't have the discipline to read every night, don't take him.
I thought Mucha was actually a very good professor. He gives you the notes before hand & then allows you to ask questions on the class work during class. As long as you go over the notes before class, you should be fine! The final presentation is super easy & he practically gives everyone an A on it. The tests aren't too bad.
One group project at the end, easy. He's there to help you. Make sure to go to class because there are points for it. Read either the book before hand or read the powerpoints. I loved Calculus, found this class tough but I passed this class with an A.
Out of the other math instructors I've met at COC, Mucha is by far the most empathetic and most patient. He really is a good guy if you show the willingness you have to learn and grasp the material. He knows this course isn't easy for students and he's willing to give you a push. However, if you do not show that effort, you're on your own with it.
He rarely lectures. Nice guy, but unless you can teach yourself stats, don't take him.
Professor Mucha was a great math professor! Out of all the math professors Ive had at College of the Canyons, I actually learned something with him. He's very patient and willing to go over lessons if you approach him. Does go off topic but he's a great professor who explains lessons clearly. I recommend him
Professor Mucha is a funny guy who cares about his students and is passionate about statistics. However, his tests were pretty difficult despite studying and his class was very hard to pass because it is a lot of self teaching which is not my strong suit. If you aren't great at learning math concepts independently then consider other options.
1. G. Mucha does a flipped classroom where you do homework in class and learn the material at home. He does lectures but only examples. 2. His tests are really hard. He does give half credit sometimes which helps but still pretty difficult. 3. People who slack off will not pass this class. You need to read at home or you won't get a good grade.
Greg Mucha was honest and fair in his grading and was really approachable with any problems you had, he also had a sense of humor that kept me focused on the task at hand. though I wish the tests themselves were easier, as they are the main grade you get, overall I found his class enjoyable and a pleasure to sit in.
Talks about too many examples without even explaining them. You basically have to try and teach yourself with all the notes, and he always goes off topic.
Prof. Mucha is definitely very passionate about statistics. He gives examples that really help you understand the concepts & is readily available to refresh or help whatever you may be confused on. Reading the textbook is a must in order to truly understand the work & to excel on the exams. All the work and lectures truly prepare you for success!
He has a flipped classroom, homework in class and notes/lecture on your own at home. DO THE HW, IT HELPS!! He provides power points and video clips so the book isn't very necessary although you will use statcrunch. One group project which is pretty simple. He is very funny and will gladly help students.
I had a very good experience in Math 140 with this professor. He is straight to the point on what needs to be done and tells you exactly what to expect on the tests. Even though its a flipped classroom you can totally get by without using the modules as long as you can accurately complete the daily assignments he gives. Definitely recommend!
This class is about 60% tests and quizzes and the prof has you add an extension to record any noise in the room as you take tests from home.
Although Greg Mucha is a wonder person and is very understanding his class is not a class I would take again or recommend. There is no textbook only a few slides of each topic and he does not teach you. You have to teach yourself n theres not much to work with. I have missed many points on tests because I got it right but worded it differently.
I had his online course over pandemic and if you're not good at teaching yourself the material, you're gonna have a rough time. All that is given is the online textbook, and he has an open Zoom that you can join to ask questions, but there are NO actual lectures. If you require strict structure to learn math, this is not the online class for you.
The lessons in the 100% online course I took were self guided, but robust, and there were no tricky questions on the tests that you should be unprepared for if you did the written assignments. It is time consuming, so set aside enough hours to read and complete the assignments. The tests are proctored, so be prepared to not rely on notes.
I thought for sure I would not do go in stats, however, Mr. Mucha's gives enough information so that we have plenty to study and work with. I am actually getting a B- in the class. :)
Literally the worst grade I have rejected in college. There was no textbook and a summarized page but nothing teaching you how to do it. Basically taught myself this class and he seemed to be no help when I asked for it. Was generous when I asked for extensions or extra credit. Try to get another teacher if you struggle with math.
This class was hard. You had to do most of the work and was not good at explaining the right topics.
He doesn't grade your work, I sent him emails and texts for 2 months asking questions and he never replied. No extra credit. Would not take it again.
Literally did not teach anything. We had no textbook and only summaries of what we were being taught so I basically taught myself statistics. Literally no explanation on the subjects
Although I passed Math 140, Professor Mucha did not make it easy. He provides very little assistance and very little information during his "lectures." A lot of independent work and a pointless group project. I did not learn a thing about statistics in this class. I don't recommend you take this course if you want to learn or if you want to pass.
Professor Mucha unnecessarily rambles on and on to the point where the whole lecture is completely all over the place. When it's noticed that the whole class is lost, thats when you have to realize you are not the only one struggling. Although there's a teacher present, it's completely teach yourself type class. I dropped this class within a week.
Would avoid this Professor unless its your only option. I took it online and he has proctored tests once a week which in my opinion does not give enough time without you rushing. GIVES A LOT OF HOME WORK. There were 168 assignments by the end of the semester.Typically 2-3 assignments a day. Does not respond to emails promptly. No extra credit.
I took this class in Fall 2022, and I found it to be the easiest math class I have ever taken. I was the student asking a million questions, even staying after class sometimes, but he was always willing to help me. If you put in the effort, you will breeze through the class. Don't be scared to ask questions; he is so patient.
If you're like me and aren't really good at math then stay away from this professor. It was a blessing I even passed. In total there are 170 assignments throughout the entire semester. There is one quiz at the end of every week that are proctored and there is a group project. The final exam is crazy difficult for no reason.
Math 140 with this professor was a challenge, but with effort, you can succeed. The class is mostly self-guided, so using resources like Unstuck AI alongside the textbook is key. Stay on top of the frequent assignments, and don't be afraid to ask for help.
